but coming back to the one shots series, i've been thinking,

what if it was divided into two? one being a canon story line, where big things that happen can't be changed (let's say oc kisses karina and there's no coming back from it, she already did it), but this would be interactive, you decide what oc will do (thru asks and polls, since we're a democracy), and there would still be silly random scenarios, it would still be one shots and something very casual.

the other version being like alternative universes, varieties of the main plot where you could, indeed, ask me for anything you want me to write and it wouldn't affect the main plot

OR, we stick to only one of these ideas. either one shots of one same character living different experiences that don't affect to a bigger plot, since there's no bigger plot, or an interactive story.

Dear poll runner, for any future polls (please do more types, we love these dearly in dreblr), can we set a hard rule of no cc bribes of this nature? It...really feels weird, I'm not gonna lie. I won't begrudge Dominion fans their hard-won spoils ofc, but this is supposed to be for fans. Multiple cc's upping the stakes by promising things that fans might not get otherwise...it feels less like a fun, silly poll and more like something that people have a reason to get upset over on /both/ sides.

Fans offering an incentive is one thing. Art and ficlet bribes are a time-honored tradition, after all!

But the cc's getting involved is very different. I just have visions of this becoming a trend and it turning into a very ugly situation of fandoms at each others' throats because they lost out on content for not winning a tumblr poll.

I'm not saying cc's should be barred from interacting at all. Just not give this level of incentive. Reach and "vote plz" I don't have much of a problem with. But this doesn't feel lighthearted, it feels like if we had won we'd have robbed the Dominion fans of something special to them.

And that kills the fun, silly energy that I and many others love so dearly.

Okay, I somehow narrowed it down to a top five (honorable mentions are basically every single other vault) (except Vault 81) ( i wish the experiment actually happened and the overseer didnt shut it down i wanted the psychological horror :/ )

Vault 77- This is the crate of puppets vault, featuring the crate of puppets guy. This Vault wasn't a part of any game, rather it is from a comic that was promo material for fallout 3. and like, penny arcade understood the assignment on demonstrating how fucked up vault-tec is in thirty six panels. Like my one critique is that it's so short, but with the direction they went with the plot and the topics they tackled and it being 2008, it was probably for the best. Anyways the whole comic is free on the Internet Archive and its a nice snappy read (almost to its detriment like straight up plz someone get ari aster on the phone he'd make a fantastic adaptation of one man and a crate of puppets legit)

Vault 112- ooh hoo hoo unlike most vaults that I just remember from reading the wiki blurbs back in high school, this one was fully brought to my attention in a game of magic where i exiled a ridiculous amount of my library to get a winning card and also my missing dad (shout out to adventure costs!!!) and in that game i vowed to find it. I didnt know that it was a part of the main plot of fo3 yet but that didn't take long to find out. This is the creepy simulation one that i see as almost a proof of concept for the evil within vibes-wise (i fucking love the evil within series but thats besides the point). Legit terrified me in a way that should not have been possible (maybe im the one with unchecked issues that people being saccharinely nice to me sets off alarm bells in my head but it could also be that i had to get into a vr pod first) (who knows?) Anyways I proceeded to ignore like half of it and I'm looking forward to the next time i play and actually interacting with it a bit more (also one of my twelve fallout ocs is from this vault i made it work given this vault's canon ending)

Vault 11- Oughhhhhhh epistolary enviromental just altogether wonderful storytelling. the posters. The Posters! The ones that read "I Hate Nate" but the deeper down you go the more you find that have been graffitied to read "I Hate Kate" perfect wonderful amazing. Not to mention granting us with "Don't Vote Glover He Has A Family" which idk I love that out of context but I do. In context it's downright horrifying and the absurdity of it actually adds to the horror. Love love love Vault 11.

Vault 108- Gary. Gary Gary? Gary! Okay in all seriousness the story of this one is bonkers and also I'm a sucker for cloning (I had a cloning phase in third grade). Like, they found a guy that was going to die in a few months to be overseer so that there would be a power vacuum. Okay, normal social experiment for vault-tec. This eventually leads to them cloning a guy named Gary and then all the Gary clones killing the rest of the dwellers so now the only people in the vault are Gary clones. For the life of me I do not remember the chain of events that led to it and no i will not look it up it's funnier this way.

Vault 88- Look this one is boring to most people. Its a mix reviewed Fallout 4 DLC but dammit, I like getting to design my own Vault. As someone who got into Fallout because of the Vaults it was incredibly appealing to get to be the villain for once. And then I saw that my victim was this sweet guy named Clem (and also I was playing a goody two shoes but thats besides the point). Like I can tell they wanted to write Clem to be annoying so that you felt less bad basically torturing him but I found him so sweet and earnest I just couldnt. I fucking love Clem I would die for Clem hes like if a golden retriever was a person that I wanted to make sure kept his agency and autonomy. Plus it was really fun getting to piss the overseer off with some actually decent written dialogue. Like bonus points for that. And I still havent finished building the vault! amazing. absolutely wacky but also amazing.

And I'm very excited about the dimensional jumper Teru fic with all the ways Teru could interact and I'm very excited.

But I do feel kind of sad because aka's fic isn't winning in the poll,Don't get me wrong phantom thieves are going to have interesting interactions like the fact that first of all the ones from ladrob au have that Teru and Akane dynamic that I love and I don't know how to describe it, in addition to the fact of the context of that universe, But I met you through aka rl fic so nostalgia hits hard since I was a person who waited for the chapters, I still liked the fact that although you didn't finish the fic you left ideas of how it was going to end which I loved and I thank you infinitely.

So I'm sad that you only chose the one with the most votes and not the two with the most votes, but I know it's tiring to write and your fics are very good no matter what you write, you're going to finish me off, I'm leaning toward the hxh fandom xD.

“Cum that much? It’s okay. Better on me than in me. I think we should ease Derek into the idea of us dating before we pop up with niece or nephew for him,” you joked.

“I think he’d actually kill me,” he said.

“Oh, babe, don’t even worry about that. I’d never let him beat up my beautiful baby daddy,” you giggled.

He kissed you again. “I’ll take your word.”

You paced back and forth, waiting for Derek to be done with work. You two had planned on going back to Chicago for the weekend. You waited extremely impatiently downstairs of the Quantico Headquarters waiting for him to come down, so you two could catch your flight on time.

You were excited to go home and see your mom and sisters, but you had to admit you’d miss seeing Spencer for the weekend. Two weeks had passed since you’d seen him last because of your conflicting schedules and being busybodies due to work. You texted him yesterday to let him know you’d be gone for the weekend with Derek. He didn’t respond which made you a bit worried. Was he actually not all that interested in you after all? Or was he just that bad at using technology as Derek had informed you many times before?

You felt your phone vibrate in your pocket and nearly ripped your jeans trying to get it. You were so eager to see any acknowledgment from Spencer, it was borderline crazy. However, it was a text from Derek telling you he was going to be downstairs in five minutes. You didn’t know if you were more frustrated because Spencer still hadn’t texted you back or Derek was taking an extra five minutes to meet you even though you’ve been waiting for 20.

“Y/N.”

You turned around to look at the elevator to see Spencer walking out. You crossed your arms and gave him a lethal stare. It was hard glaring at him when he was looking at you with such remorse in his eyes. You loosened up your arms, letting them flop to your side to show him you were open to talking.

“Funny running into you. Now you can’t avoid messaging me back,” you said.

“I wasn’t avoiding messaging you back. I just wanted to say I’ll miss you but I wanted to do it in person. That’s why I distracted Morgan for an extra few minutes, so I could see you before you leave for the weekend,” he explained.

“If that wasn’t so genuinely romantic, I would call it a lie. How did you postpone Derek’s arrival?” You asked.

“I told him he was missing a case file when we were counting, but I actually hid it in his desk drawer. He never cleans it, so he has some digging to do,” he explained.

“Well, since we don’t have long before he comes down, I just want to say I’ll miss you too. It’s going to be weird not having you come by the studio and pick me up to go on a date,” you said.

“You’re only gone for the weekend, not forever,” he said.

“I know. I guess I’m just used to being around you. You’re kinda addicting,” you said.

He smirked. “I promise to take you on a date of a lifetime when you get back.”

“And come back to my self-defense studio for a follow-up lesson?” You asked.

He shrugged. “Just maybe. Depends on how much I miss you.”

You giggled as you gently shoved his shoulder. He chuckled as he gently grabbed your hand that had lingered on his chest a second too long. The way he held your hand told you he already missed you before you even got on the plane.

“Don’t kid yourself. You’ll miss me the entire weekend,” you said.

“Y/N.”

You immediately retracted your hand away from Spencer’s when you heard Derek call out your name. You and Spencer both looked toward the elevator to see him walking up to you two. You took a deep breath to keep your cool, so it wouldn’t be obvious you were just smiling brightly not too long ago.

He darted his eyes from you to Spencer and again. You wondered if he would notice how pink Spencer’s cheeks were and think if he was blushing because of someone. Specifically, you. You knew he couldn’t help being a profiler sometimes.

“Pretty boy, trying to get a free lesson out of my little sis?” He asked.

“Free lesson? What do you mean by free lesson? What free lesson?” Spencer asked.

Derek raised a mildly suspicious eyebrow. You softly sighed to yourself. Could Spencer be any more nervous? Derek looked at you as he pointed his thumb towards Spencer.

“He usually has the best memory. Did you forget we went to Y/N’s self-defense studio? I know you weren’t tossed around that hard,” he joked as he nudged him.

“Oh yes, of course. How could I forget Y/N is a self-defense expert?” Spencer nervously replied.

“You know that one move she did? With the elbow jab? I taught her that. I told her if any man steps to you the wrong way, jab him in his rib,” Derek explained.

You could see Spencer’s eyes widen in terror. He darted his eyes toward you and you quickly looked over at him before looking back at Derek. You rolled your eyes and shook your head.

“You’re such a liar. I learned that on my own,” you said.

Derek viciously shook his head as he went to stand next to you. He wrapped his arm around you to bring you in closer to him. You sighed as you knew he was going to spew some big brother bullshit of teaching his little sister everything you know now.

“I’ve told every one of her boyfriends that they better treat her right or boom, they get the elbow,” he said as he popped out his elbow.

You and Spencer exchanged eye contact. He had started the rant of a big brother who had suspicions about the man standing in front of them. From the looks you gave each other, you two were wondering what he knew.

“Derek, is this speech necessary right now? We have a flight to catch and I’m sure Spencer’s ready to start his weekend,” you said.

“I’m just saying, if pretty boy wanted to become your lover boy, he has the cruel reality to face of you being off-limits,” he said.

You and Spencer once again looked at each other knowing all too well what the other felt, smelt, and tasted like. Derek then fist-bumped Spencer’s chest as he flashed him a grin. Spencer looked at him with fearful yet curious eyes, trying to understand what his whole speech was leading to.

“Don’t worry though, Reid. You’ll find your person one day. Just not my sister or any of my sisters. You’d have to get a jab in your rib if you end up with one of them,” he said.

“Ugh, Derek, I know you love Spencer and everything, but do you really have to keep him for yourself?” You joked.

“I do love my pretty boy, but I think he’d be better off with a pretty girl instead of me,” he said.

You looked at Derek with a questionable look. “Saying I’m not pretty enough for him?”

Spencer widened his eyes as he waited for Derek to reply. Derek looked at you, shaking his head. You rolled your eyes and took his arm off around you.

“Y/N, you know I didn’t mean it like that,” he said.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m telling mom on you. Let’s go, we’re going to be late,” you said with just enough fake irritation in your voice to make him sweat.

Derek sighed as he held out his fist to Spencer. Spencer reached out and grabbed his fist in response. You smiled at how adorably dorky he could be and how you would miss that the entire weekend.

“See you next week, pretty boy,” he said.

“See you,” Spencer said.

As Derek turned around, you blew Spencer a quick kiss. He smiled as he mouthed ‘I’ll miss you’ to you. You whispered it back to him before you waved.

“See you around, Spencer,” you said.

“See you, Y/N,” he said.

You swiftly turned around to walk away with Derek. Once you two reached outside, you couldn’t help notice him holding back a mischievous smirk. He didn’t leave you waiting long to figure out why he was stifling it.

“I’m telling mom you have a boyfriend,” he teased.

“What boyfriend? I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you said.

“Mhm, sure. Just let pretty boy know my jab is serious,” he said.

Chzburger Writes: An Interactive Experience

Hi all!  Here is the outline for what I want to try and do with this experiment.  I would like to write a feedism story that is guided by the audience.  Here’s how it’ll work: 

i will write an opening scene based on one of the options outlined below.  

after each section of the story, I will have 2 different pathways for the story to take.  you can vote on each post for 24 hours by either giving it a like, or commenting on it.  (plz reblog too if you like it; they will not count as votes though). 

each next section will be written as separate posts, but I will include a link to the previous part of the story at the top of each new post so people can go back and read the whole thing should they want to.  

i will clearly mark which post is the last one, and once the story is complete, I will likely compile it into one whole post for ease of access 

everything will be tagged under “chzburger writes” and “chzburger writes: an interactive experience” so it will be filed as its own separate thing but also show up with my other musings and drabbles. 

things will likely be in first person, as if i am the one feeding the universal “you” so you can imagine whoever you want in that place

i will also tag any relevant themes so people are able to seek out or blacklist accordingly 

if you do not feel comfortable using your own blog to like or comment, you may send an anonymous (or not anonymous ask, just clarify if you want it public or not) but please only send one per person and keep the fun of the game alive.

Genuine question. I remember back in it’s prime, I tried to get into hs and. Just. Couldn’t. Now I’m a grown up, trying to be an artist. Possibly comic artist. Here’s the q: is home stuck worth reading, simply so I KNOW what it contains? So that I can avoid it’s tropes? I know some comic artists that were into it and they hand wave now. Like, “oh yeah, it was influential. I think it changed comics as a landscape” but then will be like “it sucks!” in the next sentence. So I’m just confused. I really am not... into it story wise? I loved the art, I loved the audio and thought the interactive elements were cool. I just didn’t care about the characters at all. (I got to like. Part 2 of act 5 or something. Everyone said the trolls would make me like it and I just got more confused.) Anyways, all that rambling just to be like: from YOUR perspective, (even if it’s just to avoid its follies?) Should I try and read homestuck? Or can I just read it’s wikia page or whatever and glean what I need to glean? Anyways. it’s entirely up to you because homestuck is one of the (if not THE) longest web comics ever, when people say it sucks theyre mostly referring to the parts of homestuck that made it “problematic” (again hate using that word but u know what i mean) and also that in some parts the plot was dragged out or barely readable bc a lot of the comic is written in a way to waste time inbetween major plot points, similar to a filler episode of a show except if you skip these parts u often miss like . hints to future events between the paragraphs of nonsensical bullshit, Personally when i say it changed the comic landscape i mean that it literally did that, it was the first of its kind to he both interactive, with video mixing, an entire sound track over its whole run time as well as in the very early days (i was not a fan / knew about it for the earliest days) ppl got to essentially vote in what they wanted to happen within the story, hs also took the unique approach of using classes, blood types, and the zodiac and using these things to make multiple personality slots for characters etc etc, it’s kinda impossible to write anything that homestuck hasn’t referenced (which is why a long running gag on here and other social media was ‘haha is that a hs reference’ when talking about anything) so i wouldn’t worry about trying to avoid things EXCEPT for the zodiac as groups bc that’s pretty much become synonymous with hs, it’s definitely confusing to read for first time readers and was way easier to keep up with as it was coming out bc like o said the plot spans over a decade and has over 100 characters and side plots etc etc it’s really convoluted but the tldr is four kids play a game that ends the world and they need help from aliens to set things straight, if u really wanted theirs a bunch of hs explained videos where u could just like . skim it and basically get the same exact experience, another thing about hs is for it’s time it had a pretty big cast of lgbt characters which at the time made it uknow “representation” though hussie still sucks and has been homophobic before i think a lot of ppl latched to hs for so many reasons and eh i don’t know where i’m going with this anymore sooooo um well i’m if u have a more specific question know!
