#if you're wondering why i'm watching TV shows aimed at 12-year-olds is because i have the irish level of a 12-year-old hope this helps #(actually they were conamara speakers and i couldn't understand a fuckn thing by ear. thank god for subtitles IN IRISH)#(usually i have to use english subs bc they don't have irish ones so it was great to have that intermediate stage of being able to read it)

waahhhh i can feel myself losing my spanish bc im not practicing it regularly and it SUCKS bc in high school i did ib spanish and like i genuinely knew a fair amount of the language like it felt really good and our spanish teacher said we were like one of the most advanced classes she's had but now since im not taking classes or anything i can feel it slipping from me and im like no :( come back :(

#i think i just need to immerse myself again #listen to spanish music and such #see im looking to learn japanese as a hobby but im like. i feel like i should really keep up my spanish. i don't want to lose it entirely #it would be cool if i knew spanish AND japanese along w english.#hmm #if anyone has good free resources for like. an intermediate spanish speaker PLS send them my way #caps #ocean.mp3 #and do NOT say duolingo. im not using duolingo it goes WAY too slowly for my taste

*doesn’t have a flag but i’m also fluent in bekwarra, which is just a nigerian dialect. good luck looking it up tho. it’s a dying language

#i also wanna have an intermediate fluency level in all of these before i’m 25 #from now till 2025 i’ll focus jst on french and korean then once bts comes back ill ease of korean and try and go back to japanese maybe #also pidgin english is a nigerian english dialect that’s a mix of english and the most widely spoken languages #so a huge part of pidgin is english yoruba and igbo but there’s a lot of loanwords from other nigerian ethnic groups #anyways i jst really like languages #growing up everyone around me was at least bilingual so

I have a job interview today, everyone who believes in that stuff send me luck ok? (灬º‿º灬)♡

#i am VERY fluent in writing but speaking is a different matter so I'm a bit worried #i actually just changed my fluency level on my application for French bc you know I'm fluent in French #but then my mom asked me to describe something to her in French and I blanked #but then she asked me to describe THE SAME THING in English and I STILL COULDN'T #so anyways my French is sitting at intermediate now in my resume bc they had no between intermediate and fluent #and I KNOW what everyone considers intermediate in this country and I'm waaay above that #but anyways the downsides of being mostly raised by a wolf #I'm not actually a fluent English speaker even though it's my first language #fine writing but I don't have too much experience speaking #putting sentences together is like doing a puzzle it's hard #often there's a word at the back of my head that I can't pull to the front so I try to describe with other phrases #i hope this doesn't make me sound unqualified #like I could show you all of it or write essays on it but speaking is hard #and i could do it in French but y'know since I can't verbalize in English well I can't in French either #i was literally raised by a wolf and then spent the rest of my life mostly isolated in the forest #i write and read a lot and correspond with people electronically all the time #but I only speak to like 5 people once a week and that's only been for the last few years #you get it?#so I'm nervous bc I KNOW the English capabilities will leave #imagine a language that you're kind of good at but you've been on and off studying #now imagine you have to do a spoken interview in that #that's me with any of my languages including English #this DOES make it really easy to learn foreign languages quickly #which is why I can WRITE in 5 very well #speaking is a different matter

Swiss culture is feeling like you never know enough languages because you keep meeting people who speak like 1527839302 languages and leave you feeling like you need to work/study harder.

#it serves as motivation though #i participated in a study #in which i had to have a group discussion with a few other participants #and there was this girl who spoke english; french; italian; german; kurdish and arabic (iirc)#and i was like 'and here i thought i could flex with having dreamt in 5 languages before' 😭😂#i would say it's also impressive if i was actually proficient in all 5 languages #but i'm only fully fluent in two (or three if you want to distinguish between german & swiss german)#while i'm advanced (i think......?) at the third #and a lower intermediate (if even lol) at the 4th #and a beginner at the 5th😂#(and i'm currently not studying the 5th)#but ahhh i wish there was more (leisure) time to study languages #because it's so enriching to acquire knowledge in different languages and compare mindsets of people from different cultures #how cool would if be if we could speak every language there is #that would be a superpower i'd love to have #kachu rambles
