lucian is actually one of the funniest ancient authors to read. it's my goal one day to adapt multiple parts of a true history into intermediate latin for students because they need to be exposed to the absolute bullshit insanity that takes place.

Referring to popular, folk, etc. songs in that language, not songs designed to teach the language, like alphabet or counting songs.

my spanish class is going to have an exam to wrap up the pre-holiday season and I had questions about the exam, whether it would be open-book (because it's online) etc.
this is a language school and we don't get grades or degrees; it's purely learning so I was also wondering what the purpose of the exam was because some exams are for standardized placement (which would be necessary to advance to the next level)
and the teacher's initial response was to be like "don't worry, it won't be that difficult..." and then he gave some examples of new concepts that WOULDN'T be on the test....but I'm over here like wtf I WANT a hard test AND I want to get tested on new concepts! Because otherwise, what the fuck am I paying for? so now I'm wondering what the hell this test will be AND is the teacher just trying to be kind and reassuring or is this test going to be a waste of time? I'm definitely going to study and idk about anyone else in the class but I'm just trying to be bilingual
EDIT: this is my first time in a language school so it's definitely a whole new experience and I don't know what to expect!

I've always wondered, what does your url mean
it's just a misspelling of cubism, like the art movement
Tumblr media
^ (Picasso, Guernica)
now, as to why i chose that... couldn't tell you, it must have been in like 2015 i don't remember XD i think at the time slight misspellings of common words was a trend, probably due to a lot of the words themselves being taken as unused urls XD
but the idea of cubist art as a fragmented, avant-garde style with the goal of representing reality through multiple, simultaneous perspectives is something i can get behind :)
if you want to see something cool cubism-related, check out the movie The Mystery of Picasso (by Clouzot). it's a bit hard to track down online. But here's a scene where they basically record Picasso's painting process. I saw it in school and was fascinated by the way he just mercilessly paints over things creating a final product that's wildly different from all the intermediary paintings -- several paintings in one, really, except some are ephemeral, and only persist as ideas underlying the final form.

me: “i’m autistic”
neurotypicals (i.e. *those* people): “oh really? how cute! what’s your special interest? is it trains? it just has to be trains, right?!”
[awkward pause]
me (dead serious): “german linguistics.”
- edit: i *am* pursuing a german minor and i’m currently in college. apologies for any mistypes in the tags, lol

made the weirdest face when my coach said IM BASED (in the context of having a good base as in balanced body position) because the redditor that lives in my brain and is slowly taking over like a deadly mold piped up to say “based and stability pilled.” about my 47 year old coach. in related news i will be throwing my phone in a lake

Am I the only one who thinks it’s hard to draw a character standing straight and looking forward? Like extremely dynamic poses are hard too but drawing bodies is so much easy if there doing a little something.
Also drawing people sitting down or crouched is like super hard.
And hands let’s not forget hands.
