Charlie - ENFP, the Campaigner

I can see an argument for ENFJ (the Protagonist), but I think she's an ENFP. Her chaotic energy is pretty clearly ENFP, and she's got great ideas but needs people who are more logical to help her enact her plans.

Vaggie - ISTJ, the Logistician

I initially thought she was an INTJ, the Architect, buuut I think she's more focused on the here and now than the future, particularly when it comes to how she handles her past and telling Charlie vs not telling her.

Lucifer INTP, the Logician

I could see an argument for an ENTP (the Debater), but his behavior honestly seems more introverted to me... as we've seen him thus far. This could change. It's hard to know because ENTPs do tend to be more introverted than other E types. Either way, the social awkwardness yet way of captivating people through sheer charisma? So him.

Angel ESFP, the Entertainer

Fitting for our p**n star. Lol. Angel is very much feelings-motivated. PersonalityDatabase lists him as an ESTP (Entrepreneur) but I would say they're just wrong lol. He makes decisions about how they impact people, not any innate principle. Even in his redemption, he's more interested in how it affects Charlie than in the practical ideas of right and wrong. He's a people pleaser as much as he likes pushing buttons (see how he handles Val), and he can push buttons precisely because he's very sensitive to others' emotions.

Let’s try to find Spock’s MBTI personality (note that MBTIs have no scientific basis, but it’s just for fun!) Scroll past the poll for a detailed description of the traits in contention!

I think that we can all agree that Spock is more introverted (I) and is governed by his logic (T) rather than his emotions. It’s the other two traits I wonder about, especially N vs S.

A short description of the traits in contention:

Intuitive (N) personality types rely on imagining the past and future potential of what they see. They prefer to exercise their imaginations as they seek new ideas and possibilities.

Those with the Observant (S) style are more interested in observable facts and more straightforward outcomes. They mostly root their thinking in the actionable, tangible, and useful.

People with the Judging (J) personality trait feel most comfortable when the course ahead is well-marked. They would rather come up with five backup plans than deal with events as they come. Preferring to consider their options ahead of time, personality types with this trait prefer clarity and closure, sticking with the plan rather than going with the flow.

Prospecting (P) individuals are much more flexible when it comes to dealing with unexpected challenges. This flexibility helps them seize unexpected opportunities as well. These personality types tend to react to their environments rather than try to control them, helping them to make their own luck in whatever the world delivers. How an ESTJ interprets the Man vs Bear Question.

My sister demanded an alias, so I'm calling her X to p!ss her off.

Out of curiosity, I asked my sister the question,

"Would you rather be in the middle of the woods with a bear or a man?"

oh boy...

X explains, "Well first off bears are mostly located in the north and creeps tend to mostly be in the south or in the cities so you're less likely to find them in the woods, or the north for that matter. Especially if they're in the woods because those men are most likely to be hunters, ecologists, farmers, or hikers... and also-" I'm paraphrasing.

X went on and the whole point of the questions totally went over her head. She chose men if you're wondering. A prime example of the ESTJ's Te-Ne loop.

She finished with,

So yeah you can see what kind of person X is.

But, as an INTP, I completely agree with her long-winded assessment. It got annoying when she tried to educate me on what you do in a situation because, come on, I'm an ISTP, I already know.

Transformers Robot Husband Poll: MBTI Types

A few of you have seen me mention this special interest of mine, but the rest of you are new. Hello, and welcome. I’d like to talk about our Round Three* contenders in light of personality typology, specifically the MBTI theory based on Jungian typology.

(*Why 3 instead of 4? Because I’d planned to post this yesterday and already had those characters listed.)

Yes, I’m aware this is classified as a pseudoscience. Yes, I put a questionable amount of stock in it. Now you see why I’d get along with Drift so well. 😛 This post is for fun, so please don’t take it as seriously as I am unless you’re genuinely curious. The main goal of this post is to present some interesting observations related to the correlation between who are most desirable fictional husbands and their MBTI types. That’s it. A TL;DR is at the end for the Blurrs among you. Anyway, here we go:

While I’m sure most of you have at least heard of MBTI, you should know that it’s not just the four-letter dichotomies: I vs. E, T vs. F, etc. I won’t bore you with the details; I just want you to be aware that mainstream culture has watered down the theory to a four-letter code when there’s far more complexity beneath the surface. Cognitive functions, function axes, etc.

Without further ado, here are the contenders from Round Three (the versions I know best) and what I think each one’s most likely type is:

Bold text means I’m certain of my conclusion.

“What does all of it mean though?”

Well, it tells me that the fandom really loves their xNTPs and xSTJs. You may have no idea what that means on a detailed level, and that’s fine. The short version is that people either love down-to-earth guys who are dependable and know how to get stuff done or the funny guys who have a nerdy, creative, or rebellious streak. This is obvious just from looking at the results and tags, but it’s interesting to me that the overall trends can also be seen through the lens of MBTI.

Now, for the fun part: I’m expecting the semifinal contenders to be Cyclonus, Knockout, Soundwave, and Jazz. Their respective types are ISTJ, ESTP, ISTJ, and ESFP (or ENFP). Once again, opposing temperaments. (i.e. ISxJ vs. ESxP)

Furthermore, the projected finalists are Cyclonus and Soundwave—both of whom are ISTJs. The conclusion is that, despite the appeal of the xNxP guys, ISTJ characters are more likely than any other type to be seen as good husband material, which lines up perfectly with the general stereotypes associated with ISTJs.

TL;DR - The majority of the fandom agrees that ISTJ characters are peak (stereotypical) husband material, and a deeper look at the type would reveal that they are absolutely correct.

ethics in inferior slot simply VERY RARELY does these things. (istp, entj, estj, intp) and this is %1000 true BECAUSE fe and fi in the tertiary slot is weak and bold, yes... but also, these types are IRRATIONALS. they do not lead with a judging function like the others i compared them to.

well.... not exactly. IF IVE MANSPLAINED AND LIKE YOU MEAN SOME OTHER 4 GROUPS IDK ABOUT TELL ME. alert for mild cognitive function talk that will hopefully somewhat explain itself. functions are basically ways of processing your experiences. here's a post that leads to a post if you want to learn more by the end of the article. the smaller text is this function talk.

16Personalities divides 'mbti' .... (THEY EXPLICITLY SAY THEYRE NOT DOING MBTI SO ITS ALL FAKE OKAY in the house we do not stan 16P because its they made their strange thing up and stole mbti stuff basically for it but ofc much respect for all the attention its brought to mbti though) .... into four categories yes, but that's not an mbti thing, that's a 16P thing

in 16P they're divided (with X's being unkowns): XNTX, XNFX, XSXJ, XSXP

anyways its an interesting grouping system..... essentially what they've done is divide the N's into stronger thinkers (logic/systems) vs stronger feelers (values) and divide the S's into percievers (who will use their sensing function externally and tend to be more sponatenous and dynamic) and judgers (who will use their sensing function internally and tend to be more organized and reliable). It can be relatively helpful when trying to type people - each of these gorups do have a slight vibe to them that you will get acquainted to.

i think another interesting way to sort the types would be to do so by their first judging junction (thinking/feeling functions) because it tends to equally noticeable in all the types. // read: while percieving functions (sensing/intuition) may be obvious in one type they may not be obvious in another. so, the judging functions at Extroverted Thinking (Te), Introverted thinking (Ti), Extroverted Feeling (Fe), Introverted Feeling (Fi)

This sorting would look like:

Fe: esfj, enfj, infj, isfj

Fi: isfp, infp, enfp, esfp

Te: entj, estj, istj, intj

Ti: intp, istp, estp, entp

Hopefully, this sort of a grouping may also reduce the S vs N gap (??)

How to Avoid Mistyping

I’ve actually wanted to make a post like this for a while, I just hadn’t really gotten to it yet. Here’s how to know if you’re mistyping a character.

Mistyping vs. A Differing Opinion

When it comes to fictional characters, a lot of it comes down to interpretation, which means there will always be a level of differing opinions when typing a character. However, I do think it’s undoubtable that some types don’t fit characters at all.

At the end of the day, it comes down to argument. Does your argument make sense? Is it understandable to those who aren’t inside your mind? Is it obviously biased.

And here’s the thing- everyone has bad arguments. I’ve had bad arguments, even on this page. However, I am making this post, to maybe help people to think more critically about their arguments.

Are you grasping at straws trying to defend your opinion?

Honestly, this is a good sign that you are mistyping a character. Does it feel like you are trying way too hard to defend your typing of a character, like you can’t come up with any good arguments for it?

This could mean one of two things; you need to rewatch or reread the material you’re typing from or you need to consider a different type for them. Now, I would definitely rewatch or reread said thing first, because there have definitely been times I thought I was mistyping a character when in reality, I just didn’t remember enough about a character to type them appropriately.

But you should at least consider the fact that you’re mistyping a character if you’re struggling to construct an argument.

“This type would not do that!”

I do think there are times when this is appropriate, for example, when discussing a character’s actions, saying “this character’s interest in their environment really gives more Se than Ne.” However whenever I hear XXXX would never do that! It grinds my gears.

Usually, when people say this, it’s highly stereotypical, because technically speaking, each type is capable of anything… it’s why they’re doing it, what’s going on in their head that matters. Now is it unlikely for, say, an Si dom to make impulsive decisions? Perhaps, but it’s not that they can’t. In fact, some of the ISTJs I’ve typed have made very impulsive decisions when their Te or Fi kicked in.

Using your personal relatability to a character to determine their type.

Now this one, out of everything on here kind of annoys me the most. Now, there is nothing wrong with relating to a character and considering the type for them. However your relatability to them also cannot be your only argument to why they fit that type, because you don’t have to be the same type as that character to relate to them.

I’m an INTP, and there are plenty of ISTJ, INFP, ISTP, hell even ESFP characters I relate to. I also don’t think I’ve ever, at least not since starting this blog, have typed a character INTP solely because I find them relatable… in fact, it’s the second to last most typed on this blog.

Have you considered other possibilities for this character?

Typically, unless I’m really sure about a character’s type, I’ll consider at least a few types before deciding on one. I’ll keep these types in mind when watching something, and sometimes will decide on something completely different.

Obviously, you don’t have to do this, everyone’s system of typing is different, but the important thing is, don’t be so fixated on a particular type for a character that you refuse to see or listen to any other argument regarding them.

Don’t automatically assume a character is in a loop or a grip when you type them.

Now, saying a character is in a loop or a grip is not inherently wrong per se- but I will say, that I often see people use this to avoid typing characters certain types.

I have a post I’m working about on loops and grips, but I will say that if you can’t legitimize why a character wouldn’t be that type, even at their healthiest, it’s probably not a good type for them.

I love love love big youtube video essays, I’m not sure if i can pick a specific favorite!! They’re pretty much all I watch if that helps, and I have a lean toward informational ones— like, about real world events and history rather than about media— although certain media ones are really good too.

My imaginary friend’s name was Nobody. Like.. genuinely thats what i called him. I knew he wasn’t real but i felt left out ‘cause everyone else had one so when people were around I would pretend i had an imaginary friend. An imaginary imaginary friend named Nobody. He had a family too; his siblings were named Somebody and Everybody. Hell yeah

My go to way to fall asleep is in a sea of pillows (they keep my bones in place), big puffy comforter thats too big for my bed, window open, listening to podcasts til like 3am (or whenever sleep happens)

I have changed my name, and I picked it because it shares a nickname with my birth name and has the same initial— an easier transition for everyone else, they could just say my nickname if they didn’t want to say my new one. It even sounds similar. I do like the name, but it beat the other options because of that.

The first one that comes to mind as my favorite is the video where Sam heals Darlin (Vampire Tends To Your Injuries)— it was the first one I listened to and easily the one I’ve listened to the most. I’m a whore for hurt/comfort and that specific energy was too good, the mutual care and growing trust without strings attached, waaaah. I’m also really fond of the one where Avior helps Starlight sleep (Comforted By Your Demon) and the imperium one Specifically when Milo is talking to Asher about David (the beginning of Cataclysm: Last Wish) and the pain in the acting its SO GOOD. Probably my favorite bit of acting specifically from the channel, and the only scene thats made me cry. I just love when characters let down their walls and are vulnerable with each other its real good

I like Avior for you on an Enneagram basis; along with the competency and capability, there’s a dogged curiosity there that, I think, Avior would admire and would keep him on his toes. Regulus is purely because of the imaginary friend tidbit; there’d be something poetic about him taking place of your Nobody and making himself your real imaginary friend. I could totally do something with that.

Hi, Charity! I need help regarding my type. For reference, I believe I’m ENTJ or ISTP. I can’t tell which one due to my lack of self awareness. I also believe I’m an 8w9 sp/sx though I’m not sure about that as well if I really am an ISTP.

To be honest, based on what you wrote -- I don't know. You didn't go into what you think logic is, so it's hard for me to tell whether you are using analytical subjective logic (Ti) or detached and impersonal objective logic (Te).

To start off I’m a very blunt person and I don’t really care about others emotions who aren’t a priority in my life. The way I come off to others is a very matter of fact which can seem very off putting to others but I don’t really care about filtering. I also have trouble understanding others emotional decisions. When people have outbursts or get offended over certain topics, it irritates me because I can’t really understand why. To me, the facts are there so why get mad at the situation?

This could be either one, but might lean Te/TJ.

I have a hard time understanding my emotions even though I’m constantly aware of them. They’re separate from me as well as private. I don’t like sharing my emotions when I’m going through something emotional until I’ve let them out privately.

This seems more inferior Fi than Fe, especially if you've never "lost it" in front of others. 8 and inferior Fe tends to "leak" and explode.

It’s also hard for me to connect to others emotionally when I don’t know them very well. I have to pretend to care but can only for that for a bit before that tires me.

Again, could be either one. ISTPs are more far-sighted than ESTPs, but ENTJs are also impulsive and impatient to get going. But ISTPs who are 8s are more present-oriented than future-oriented, so factor that in.

The only thing that makes me not believe I’m a Ti-dom is that they’re so “logical” and see things as some computer system. I feel like I can’t understand that. When a Ti-user speaks, my brain gets confused bcs their thought processes are so weird. Honestly writing this, I’m even more confused. I’d appreciate your thoughts, thank you Charity! :D

If you are an ISTP, INTPs might annoy you for being super abstract, but you would at least understand why they think what they think. If you are ENTJ, ITPs would seem like extreme nitpickers for you, people hung up on pointlessly analyzing things rather than getting stuff done.
