reminder that ppl who make stuff on the internet for free don't actually owe you anything at all like ... as sad as it is that ur fav comic / fanfic hasn't updated in god knows how long that person has a life 😭 can we not harass people and be compassionate and patient and understanding thanx

For the record! I'm going to apologize now and say it's probably going to be a hot minute before a new RnS chapter comes out [a week, maybe two]. I have encountered some issues that need sorted.

#spazzcat barks #redstone and skulk #don't read the tags if you don't want bookwriting logistics spoilers #delete later #the long and the short of it is i wrote 3 chapters and now i think i'm going to scrap them all #this is the problem with making a backlog: sometimes you see the corner you've written yourself into #and instead of writing your way around it like you would if you were writing chapter by chapter #youre instead going to go back to where the problem started and kill it there #except it is very demotivating to lose upwards of 10k words because of one character choice three chapters ago #that you think is a little out of character #so you need some time to recover from that #and then you need time to make plans #because you've spent the past week and a half writing 3 chapters that don't exist now #so you need to figure out how you think your character would actually act and decide how much this changes the three chapters you wrote #and if those chapters are even salvageable now #so in summation: damn it m'lord there's a dragon in the castle and i've lost escaliber

Friendly reminder to please credit me if you're going to be reuploading my work. I'd actually much rather them NOT be reuploaded onto Tumblr, where I have already posted them myself. I don't mind them being uploaded to resource sites or to other platforms as long as you give visible credit. It's just upsetting and ruins any sort of motivation to make things when people do this. I see them posted in resource dumps ( often with no credit, which is required for reposting my things ) a lot on here.

This especially applies to my renders, which I spend a lot of time on. I see them reposted in response to asks for them with absolutely no mention of who made them.

TLDR ; please credit me for the love of God if you're reposting my work, regardless of what it is. I'd much rather you not repost them onto Tumblr ( linking back to my post is very simple. ) 🙏

i was going to try and write but i have nothing that feels near to finished and there's too many unfinished things for me to decide what to write. chipping away at fic incrementally is kind of annoying me - i want to finish things, damn it!!!!

i try not to let myself start anything new, just make notes to come back to at some future date when i have fewer unfinished things to worry about, but that kind of annoys me too as now i have to wait until i have finished the things i am failing to finish.

what do i even want to write? and i am allowed to write it? and will i ever finish writing it? gah, why does fic take me ages now? what happened inside my brain?

#maybe i need to pick one and finish it but what if i pick the wrong one? what if i remain stuck forever?#might not manage to do something for sifki week D:#idk if i'm allowed to post something for that that i'd already started? and whether i could finish anything but then anyway :S #and the longer each fic takes the more i get demotivated by the almost inevitable 'poor return for time investment' factor.#and they end up like 3000 words long so it's not even like they'd take people long to read after all that time spent trying to write them.#fic related #vague writing-related insecurities

#this is about school #mostly #i hate it here chat #what am i to do #someone.....if you have any advice... please #i have an oral test tomorrow i have to learn by heart two texts in chinese and learn 100 new vocabulary words #help. drowning #literally #can no longer keep it up #for the record I'm demotivated because my efforts never take me to satisfactory results #and yea sure nothing changes overnight #but like. I've been trying for at least 8 years now? aren't things supposed to get better after a while I'm trying?#I've tried changing methods eh #anyways. unsatisfactory results. and it gets frustrating because I feel so disappointing because I know before starting that I won't be abl #to do The Thing. get to complete homework? memorise something? hello friends it’s been said before but I think it bears repeating: content creators are already doing all they can to add to fandom.

me and I’m sure a lot of other writers often get the question “any fics similar to yours/any writers who do more of what you do/hey please recc people or fics” and,,, I hope you can see that all these sort of asks are asking for more things to consume, more to read, preferably exactly like what they like about you as a writer -and while I don’t get upset over these messages- I also don’t love them. ༼ ் ▽ ் ༽つ

because the truth is that writers read less than readers. seems pretty obvious hhahshdh . we’re writing for you all, so we don’t have time to go dig through the tags and find new fics or writers we like. so getting messages like this just reminds me that when I’m actively making content for others, I don’t get the time to enjoy fandom. luckily I enjoy writing, so it gets lifted somewhat. but I would like to say this:

if you want more of a certain thing, how about instead of taking more, you try to give? it’s so so rare to receive back as a content creator, and it’s honestly pretty draining. it kills fandoms. genuinely. you guys have to understand fandom is a two way street.

if there’s a fic you really like, send it to a writer you think will enjoy it, and maybe that writer will get inspired. if you know someone likes a certain topic, send them some blog recs! If someone’s having trouble writing, send them an ask about an idea they might enjoy. It’s really really not as hard as you guys seem to think it is to make fandom more enjoyable for both parties. Because I promise you, I promise you!! If a writer is inspired and happy, you will get a lot more content to read too, than when they’re not. It benefits you to interact with, and help out your fav writers.

unless someone specifically has a rule not to, help us (writers) out a little. and ofc this isn’t calling out people who already interact, and reblog, and leave nice comments on fics. yall are little muffins whomst I love the most. but I wont answer asks that want more, because one, I don’t know many other writers to rec and two, it’s not fun to know you’re sending another writer a bunch of readers who will just pass by to read everything they’ve poured hours into, and then most likely ask them the same thing and move on

#I know most people who ask this probably don’t mean any harm by it #and maybe they do interact with writers! and if so; good I’m very glad #I often reblog fics I did get the change to read on my blog so if you scroll around on my blog you’ll find my recs #but yea I’ve been trying to put this into words for a while #why fandoms seem to have shorter and shorter lifespans and they fizzle out #and I think it’s this #most readers don’t feel a need to give when they can just move on to another writer and take again #but as a writer that’s just super demotivating #and people leave #ring ring #tw.discourse
