the issue with AI chatbots is that they should NEVER be your first choice if you are building something to handle easily automated forms.... consider an algorithmic "choose your own adventure" style chatbot first
it really seems to me that the air canada chatbot was intended to be smth that could automatically handle customer service issues but honestly... if you do not need any sort of "human touch" then i would recommend a "fancier google form"... like a more advanced flowchart of issues. If you NEED AI to be part of your chatbot I would incorporate it as part of the input parsing - you should not be using it to generate new information!
#literally everyone sees AI and gets so hard they black out and it ANNOYS me!#prediction/recognition AI is fine i guess it's not without flaws but it is leagues better than generative AI#but also - use the right tool for the job#like the article said it was using ai chatbot to handle customer service. Is it so hard to create a series of pre-made questions to guide#-a customer through the process? (this is called a wizard i think)#(most importantly wizards have been around for pretty much as long as GUIs have)#'oh but you need to hardcode it' yeah and hardcoding stuff came free with having a job. Turn your questions into a series of markdown#-documents if you need someone with no tech skill to come in and put in the questions#don't outsource it to an AI. You are lowering the overall tech literacy of the population here and im not kidding#there are good uses of AI.. Woebot is a really good chatbot that uses AI precisely because it has a lot of human oversight in it#but i really think that AI is something that you better have a PERFECT - not just good - justification for#sorry.... angry tech guy rant.... i swear i dont do this in real life... i just like typing...

Garage Door Installers in Pittsburgh, PA: Your Guide to Quality Installation Services
When it comes to home improvements, a new garage door can be one of the most impactful upgrades you can make. It not only enhances your home’s curb appeal but also boosts its functionality and security. If you're looking for a professional and reliable garage door installer in Pittsburgh, PA, you have plenty of options. However, selecting the right garage door installer can make a big difference in the quality of your installation and the long-term performance of your door.
In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of choosing the best garage door installer in Pittsburgh, PA, and explain what you can expect during the installation process. From selecting the right installer to understanding the installation procedure, we have you covered.
Why You Need Professional Garage Door Installers
Installing a new garage door is a significant investment, and ensuring that it’s done correctly is crucial for the safety, convenience, and security of your home. Here are some reasons why hiring a professional garage door installer is important:
Expertise and Experience: Garage doors are complex systems that require specialized knowledge and experience to install. From ensuring proper alignment to selecting the correct hardware, professional installers know the ins and outs of the process.
Proper Safety Measures: Garage doors are heavy and can be dangerous to handle without the right equipment and training. Professional installers have the tools and expertise to handle the job safely, preventing accidents and injuries.
Longevity and Performance: A poorly installed garage door can wear out quickly, leading to costly repairs and even potential security issues. Professional installation ensures that your door operates smoothly for years, minimizing the need for frequent repairs.
Time-Saving: Installation of a garage door can be time-consuming, especially if you lack experience. Hiring a professional installer ensures that the job is completed efficiently, saving you time and hassle.
Warranty Protection: Many garage door manufacturers offer warranties for products that are professionally installed. If you attempt a DIY installation, you may void the warranty, so professional installation is always the safest option.
Choosing the Right Garage Door Installer in Pittsburgh, PA
There are several garage door installers near me, each offering a range of services. To ensure you choose the best one for your needs, consider the following factors:
1. Experience and Reputation
Experience matters when it comes to garage door installation. A company with years of experience will have a proven track record of handling different types of doors and installations. Reputation is equally important. Look for companies with positive reviews and testimonials from previous customers. You can check online reviews, ask for references, or get recommendations from friends and neighbors who have had recent garage door installations.
2. Range of Services Offered
Garage door installers typically offer more than just installations. Many also provide repair and maintenance services. If you’re considering getting your door serviced in the future, it’s a good idea to choose a company that offers comprehensive services. Some common services to look for include:
Garage door repair (broken springs, faulty openers, etc.)
Garage door maintenance (tuning, lubricating, etc.)
Emergency repair services
Custom garage door design and installation
3. Licensing and Insurance
It’s important to choose a garage door installer who is licensed and insured. A licensed company ensures that they follow local building codes and regulations, while insurance protects you in case of accidents or property damage during the installation process. Always ask about licensing and insurance before hiring an installer.
4. Quality of Products
A good installer will use high-quality garage doors and parts from reputable manufacturers. Ask the installer about the materials and brands they work with to ensure that your new door is durable, secure, and energy-efficient. Whether you’re looking for a steel, wood, or custom door, quality products will ensure long-lasting performance.
5. Transparent Pricing
It’s essential to choose a garage door installer who offers transparent pricing with no hidden fees. The cost of a new garage door installation can vary depending on factors such as the type of door, materials, and labor. A good installer will provide a detailed estimate upfront and explain the cost breakdown so that you can make an informed decision.
6. Customer Service
When hiring a garage door installer, choose a company that values customer service. A reliable installer will communicate clearly, respond to inquiries promptly, and keep you updated throughout the installation process. Look for a company that offers a satisfaction guarantee, so you know they stand behind their work.
What to Expect During the Garage Door Installation Process
The process of installing a new garage door typically involves several steps. Here’s a general overview of what to expect during the installation process:
1. Consultation and Measurement
The first step in the installation process is usually a consultation where the installer assesses your needs and preferences. They will take accurate measurements of your garage opening to ensure a perfect fit. If you need help choosing a style or material, the installer can offer advice based on your budget and preferences.
2. Selection of the Door
Based on your consultation, the installer will help you choose the best garage door for your home. This may include selecting the material (steel, wood, aluminum, etc.), style (carriage house, contemporary, traditional), and color. They will also discuss additional features, such as insulation, windows, and custom designs.
3. Removal of the Old Door (if applicable)
If you’re replacing an existing door, the installer will remove the old door and its components. This includes detaching the old door from the opener and removing any old hardware. The installer will also dispose of the old door in an environmentally responsible manner.
4. Installation of the New Door
Once the old door is removed, the new door is carefully installed. This step involves assembling the door panels, installing the tracks, springs, and hardware, and ensuring everything is properly aligned. The installer will take extra care to ensure the door is balanced and functions smoothly.
5. Installation of the Opener (if applicable)
If you're also installing a new garage door opener, the installer will mount the opener unit, attach the door to the opener, and ensure proper operation. Modern openers come with additional features, such as smart technology, remote access, and battery backup, so the installer will ensure these features are properly set up.
6. Testing and Adjustments
After the door is installed, the installer will test its operation. They will check that the door opens and closes smoothly, and adjust the springs, opener, and sensors to ensure everything works correctly. They will also check for balance and make any necessary adjustments to prevent future issues.
7. Final Inspection and Cleanup
Once the installation is complete, the installer will conduct a final inspection to ensure everything is functioning correctly. They will also clean up the installation area, removing any debris or packaging materials. Some installers will walk you through the door’s features and provide maintenance tips.

My Guide to Chasing away the Sads
(TW: Depression, mentions of SH and ED)
Nest. Moving around takes energy but boredom is not your friend. Gather everything you’re going to want or need, and settle comfortably.
Have a sweet treat. I have a major sweet tooth, and dessert always manages to cheer me up. Indulge yourself!
If you don’t have the energy for anything I else, then it’s perfectly okay to scroll through social media or watch TV. However, if you feel up to engaging with your hobbies, I would recommend them over idle content, as they are more efficient in cheering up.
If you are more inclined to watch something, though, I recommend having a YouTube playlist dedicated to things that make you laugh. Shorts from comedians, animal videos, TikTok compilations, fandom animatics—absolutely anything.
Rewatch comfort shows and movies as well!
Learn something new. It’s so easy to fall into boredom and shame, but learning something new is a great and productive distraction. With YouTube and internet articles, it’s something you can do from bed too. I love researching my hyperfocuses, since they are a sure fire way to get the dopamine flowing again.
Make a vent work, such as fic, art, diary entry, or just an imagined story line. I do this all the time, just as a way to outlet and process my thoughts. There is something so therapeutic about it. To me, there is something incredibly therapeutic about personifying depression, watching a character who embodies myself work through trauma, etc
Talk to friends or family. Whether it’s for a distraction or support; talking to others is really important for mental health.
Just let yourself feel it. It’s okay if your regression is impure; there’s nothing wrong with processing and feeling your emotions. If you need to cry, have a tantrum—whatever. You are a strong and wonderful person, even when having negative emotions.
Just remember to take care of yourself during this time; even if you are feeling at your worst, you deserve love and kindness. Eat properly, drink enough water, sleep, etc.
If you are struggling with SH or an ED which are triggered during this time, it’s especially important to take care of yourself. You don’t deserve to hurt. You are worthy of love. Let that love start with loving yourself and keeping up with the body you’re in.
It’s the most overused line ever; but you aren’t alone. We have such an amazing community here, filled with people who experience a lot of the same things: regression, trauma, depression, anxiety, queerness, and so much more. You are strong and capable, and I’m so proud of you for making it this far. I love you and I’m sending you so many hugs and much encouragement your way. You got this, friend, and I’m here for you!!!
Love, Marty 💗

LUNAR PHASES

The moon acts as a guiding light within the night sky and humans have used it to orient themselves within time and space since the dawn of our existence. However, our connection to the moon goes beyond practicality. Looking up at the moon evokes a sense of comfort, and its beauty is inspirational. As much as our planet has changed, for better or for worse, the moon remains consistent with its cycles. This sense of stability offers us wisdom, and each period of the lunar cycle represents a different stage of growth. I was inspired to write this post after reading a fascinating article that is titled, “Effects of different phases of the lunar month on humans.” The Author, Ujjwal Chakraborty, explored the ways in which the lunar cycle exerts influence upon human psychology and physiology. Chakraborty states, “The altered autonomic neural activity and cardiovascular activity during different lunar phases is probably one of the fundamental causes of the changes of human physiology.”(2014) The autonomic nervous system regulates heart rate, digestion, respiration, blood pressure, and sexual arousal. Any changes that occurs within the autonomic nervous system is going to affect human behavior. To see a spiritual phenomenon be explained through scientific research is incredibly thought provoking; this leads me to believe that the spiritual meanings attached to each lunar phase must hold a certain amount of truth to them. If anyone is interested, the article can be found here. Chakraborty has a few other articles dedicated to lunar research that are also quite compelling. If this information intrigues you, I’d recommend looking into “The Transylvania Effect.”
I. Lunar Phase Personalities
Click here to calculate the lunar phase you were born under.
✰ New Moon - Individuals born under this phase tend to be psychic and are gifted in their ability to acknowledge the unseen. They represent new beginnings and trust their inner instincts. This can make them rather impulsive at times. New moon babies seek out adventure and are dedicated to the process of learning. They want to experience all that life has to offer them and are not afraid to dream big. This is the only phase of the moon that is absent of light, and because of this new moon babies naturally stand out from the rest. They also make for efficient leaders because their emotions and ego are in alignment. However, they’re not the types to seek attention and would prefer to work behind the scenes. Their introverted qualities and reserved nature spark a lot of intrigue. People born under this phase can find potential within any endeavor and always have a fresh perspective to offer up. Learning how to embrace the unknown is a major life lesson for these types.
✰ Waxing Crescent - These types can appear timid, but once you get to know them they are incredibly lively individuals who are full of curiosity. They prefer to stick to the things that they know and might struggle with accepting change. People born under a waxing crescent moon might get stuck within the past at times. Being courageous is something they struggle with. However, they still feel a desire to go out and explore, but they will approach these adventures with a practical mindset. Waxing crescent babies are attached to their comfort zone and are good at maintaining this even when chasing after new experiences. They are also good at finding the right people to associate with. Security is everything to these types, and they prefer to build deep relationships with people who will be in their life for a very long time. I’ve noticed that these individuals might feel more awkward than they come across. They are perfectionist and struggle with self criticism, they might get stuck within their own head during social exchanges.
✰ First Quarter - There are not many individuals born under a first quarter moon, which makes these types out to be rather unique. These people are the “main characters,” and they know it. They are not afraid to take charge of their own lives and are highly ambitious. Individuals born under this phase are not dependent upon admiration or attention. The only person they’re looking to impress is themselves. First quarter babies embrace challenges. The more challenges a situation throws at them, the more likely they are to succeed. The type of person who never backs down, they love putting their skills and talents to the test. Someone looking for a solution is going to be drawn to an individual born under a first quarter moon. Their strong personalities invoke action within other people and they serve as a source of inspiration. These individuals become unstoppable once they develop patience and learn how to wait.
✰ Waxing Gibbous - A sense of maturity is immediately evident within these individuals. They are natural caretakers and people often seek them out to be nurtured. Waxing gibbous babies have a calm presence that elicits a sense of peace within others. These types maneuver social situations with grace and making friends comes easy to them. They inspire other people to be better, and some might try to emulate them. Other people notice their potential and can see what they’re capable of achieving, but individuals born under this phase struggle to see it within themselves. They might feel life they somehow always fall short or will tell themselves that they are not “enough.” This is the opposite of how people are perceiving them. They must learn how to care for themselves in the same way they care for other people. Developing a deep sense of self love is vital for waxing gibbous babies.
✰ Full Moon - Individuals born under this phase are filled to the brim with energy. They might come across as more aggressive than they intend to be. Learning how to gain control over their emotions is a major life lesson for these types. Full moon babies might feel as though they are being pulled in two opposite directions. Their ego and emotions are not in alignment, they feel stuck between passion and logic. Sometimes they will chase after their desires even if that's not what's actually best for them. They can see themselves going in many different directions and it can be hard for them to choose just one. This indecisive behavior frustrates other people, especially those who depend on them. These individuals will find more success once they develop a sense of consistency within their lives. Their sense of creativity is deserving of focus and should not be overlooked. As much as their spontaneous nature might frustrate people, they also bring with them a sense of excitement and this is greatly appreciated.
✰ Waning Gibbous - People born under this phase are often sought after for their wisdom and ability to teach. These old souls are great at communicating their thoughts and learning comes easy to them. It is unlikely that they will have to be taught the same lesson twice, they are not the types to make the same mistakes over and over again. However, being judgmental of others may be a struggle. These individuals need to understand that not everyone is going to learn as quickly as they do. They might become frustrated watching their friends running into the same issues over and over again and will offer up unsolicited advice. It would be best to let people come to them, people will ask for help if they need it. These types tend to place themselves within positions of authority and might struggle with their listening skills. They’re often caught lecturing people when really they should be listening.
✰ Third Quarter - These types are sentimental individuals who are capable of finding deep meaning within everyday life. They hold an appreciation for the little things and show gratitude for what they have. Third quarter babies become easily attached, it can be hard for them to move on from the past. They take things slowly and aren’t likely to be caught up within a rush. Their loyalty is often taken for granted, as well as their kindness. They are commonly found within their own little world. Nostalgia maintains a strong hold upon these types. However, this connection to the past can create unpleasantries within their present life. They may be quick to forgive, but that doesn't mean they’re over it. Sometimes this can be unfair, third quarter babies need to learn how to let go of the past when it's for the best.
✰ Waning Crescent - The ultimate day dreamers. Waning crescent babies have an extremely active imagination and are highly creative. They often have visions of what's to come and very little takes them by surprise. People are drawn to their deep insight and are attracted to their unconventional personalities. These types have a mystical presence, it seems as if they are from another world. Their opinions are uniquely theirs, which can sometimes lead to them being outcasted. However, they thrive when alone and oftentimes complete their best creative work during these moments. Throughout life, they remain true to themselves and are not afraid to embrace their eccentric qualities. They have lots of unconventional wisdom to offer. Many of these types are psychic and are in touch with the spiritual realm, but don’t quite realize this. Learning to embrace and trust their intuition is a big lesson for these types.
II. Living in Alignment with the Lunar Cycle
✰ New Moon - Plant your seeds. This is a time to set new intentions and begin new projects. Take it easy by planning a relaxing night in so you can get in touch with yourself. Forget about the past so you can focus on what's best for the present moment. Journal about your hopes and dreams and think about the steps you can take within the next week to get closer to your desires. Burn a white candle, and incorporate the smell of tangerine, lemon, and jasmine into your routine.
✰ Waxing Crescent Moon - This is the time to be productive. Make sure to partake in healthy habits, give yourself an extra hour of sleep by going to bed early. Continue to build upon the goals you set for yourself during the new moon. Practice meditation to remain focused within daily life. Eat a meal that would be beneficial for your health. Burn a green candle and incorporate the smell of bergamot, cedarwood, and ginger into your routine.
✰ First Quarter Moon - Take time to focus on what's working for you and what isn’t. What tweeks need to be made within your daily routines and habits? Try to complete any tasks you’ve been putting off under this lunar phase. Go for a walk and listen to music that energizes you. Burn a red candle and incorporate the smell of patchouli, lemon and ylang ylang into your routine.
✰ Waxing Gibbous Moon - Practice patience and journal about the times in your life in which you persevered. Focus on the progress you’ve made thus far and show gratitude for what you have. Try to complete whatever preparations are needed for the next few days so they will run more smoothly. Burn a yellow candle and incorporate the smell of rose or juniper into your routine.
✰ Full Moon - Celebrate all the work you’ve completed by doing activities that bring you happiness. Have a fun night out with friends, take yourself out to your favorite restaurant. This would be a good time to focus on socialization. Make an effort to show your friends and family some love. Burn a pink candle and incorporate the smell of sandalwood, cardamom and cinnamon into your routine.
✰ Waning Gibbous Moon - Take time to reflect on the lessons you’ve learned within the past couple weeks. This would be a great time to declutter your space. Make an effort to let go of any disappointment or minor inconveniences that have been bothering you. Be kind to yourself and journal about the opportunities certain failures have brought you. Burn a light blue candle and incorporate the smell of lavender and tea tree into your routine.
✰ Last Quarter Moon - Remove yourself from your burdens by engaging your mind with relaxing activities. This would be a good time to sit within nature. Read a book, watch one of your favorite tv shows or movies. Journal about recent frustrations so you can get them off your chest. Practice forgiveness for yourself and for others. Burn an indigo candle and incorporate the smell of peppermint and eucalyptus into your routine.
✰ Waning Crescent Moon - Prepare yourself a comfort meal and draw a hot bath. Stretch your body and practice breathing exercises. Give yourself a massage or ask someone else to give you one. Focus on what you are drawn to as well as the desires that are developed while in a state of relaxation, try to write them down. Burn a purple candle and incorporate the smell of frankincense, sage, and lavender.

So, Things Are Terrible and You Want to DO SOMETHING
The election is over and, ah...did not go well. While a lot of folks are doing a post mortem of the campaigns and trying to understand what happened with the vote and fighting over who shoulders the blame, we've gotta turn an eye toward the future and figure out, okay fam, where the fuck do we go from here.
I don't have all the answers on this, and I'm not an authority by any means, I'm just a horror author with a blog. But I've been thinking a lot about it and I wanted to share my thought process with others who might want to DO SOMETHING but feel they're spinning their wheels.
Buckle in. This will be a long one.
Step One: Understand the actual risks and stakes.
I think it is very easy to start panicking now about the worst possible case scenario -- jackbooted military busting into the door to disappear everyone who ever said something mean about Trump or bought a banned book or something -- and let fear turn into inaction.
I'm not saying things can't get that bad, and I'm not saying that it won't be absolutely terrifying right out the gate for some particularly at-risk groups -- but the distance between "now" and "V for Vendetta" is long and filled with a lot of intermediary steps. There will be so many opportunities to prevent the worst case scenario.
I say this because, if your mental image of "Bad Things Happening" is The Purge, it will be easy to wake up on inauguration day, look outside to see that the world is not on fire, think, hey, maybe things will be okay after all, and then completely disengage. Alternatively, you might feel so frozen with terror at the possibility of persecution that you do nothing. This is why people are saying: don't obey in advance.
It is essential for those of us with more privilege to use it to take care of those who are more vulnerable.
So. Who is most vulnerable? What does that vulnerability actually mean? What are the most likely risks of Trump's presidency? Here's a Guardian article that I think does a good job of summarizing some of the main issues. Go read that, then come back here.
Step Two: Take steps to protect yourself
You've gotta put your oxygen mask on first, right? So before you start getting involved in other causes, figure out what risks YOU are at, immediately, and do as much as you can to secure yourself. Some potential action steps depending on your circumstance may include:
Renewing your passport (helpful for leaving the country, but also for gender/name change purposes)
Getting vaccines / boosters
Securing birth control
Ensuring your necessary papers (birth certificates etc.) are where you have access to them.
Drawing up legal paperwork for spouses/partners (always a good idea, a helpful safety measure in case you lose marriage rights)
Bolstering your data privacy and online security. Here's a step-by-step guide I found that could help with that.
The specific steps you need to take here depend on what risks you, personally, face. You'll want to do some more research into this for your particular scenario.
No matter who you are, though, it's probably a good idea to start saving money and being a little more conservative with your spending and/or pay down debts to free up some cash. You don't know what kind of emergency may befall you, and having spare money for an emergency is never a bad idea.
There is a possibility that the cost of many things you rely on might go up, if Trump goes through with his tariffs plan. You will want to plan for that.
Food costs may also rise due to tariffs (we import a lot of food from Mexico and Latin America for example) as well as a loss of immigrant labor. There is also a possibility that food safety standards could fall due to overturning regulations. Now would be a good time to look into local food resources like farm share/CSA, community farms, etc., and to stock up on a few key staples like rice and beans.
Okay. Now that YOU are reasonably safe...what can you do to protect your community?
Step Three: Get Involved
Here is your mission: You need to stay engaged enough to know what's going on, without burning yourself out or exhausting yourself, and to take actual decisive actions instead of wasting your energy arguing on the internet.
Got that? Okay. Good. Here are some action steps:
Support independent journalism. Subscribe to local papers, donate to and watch public broadcast programming. I signed up for news from ProPublica, for example, as well as the news-roundup service What The Fuck Just Happened Today. The goal is to stay informed without falling down an endless rabbit hole of upsetting information.
Share news and resources with others in your circle. This can be a good use of social media. It's what I am doing right now!
If it is safe for you to do so, challenge and educate your friends/family members/neighbors/coworkers. Only if it is safe for you to do so. Do not put yourself at risk doing this. And do not waste your time arguing with people who are unlikely to change. But if you have well-meaning people in your life who you think could be won over, look for opportunities to do this - the right way. I've had some success with this, I will probably write a guide about it in the future. In the meantime, here's a good article that can help.
Join local grassroots activism groups. You'll have to do some work to decide what groups to join and which causes you want to support, because you cannot do everything. But there are tons of organizations taking direct action in all kinds of causes. Search "grassroots [cause] activists in [where you live]" to start finding things. Once you get involved in one group, you might meet people who can introduce you to other groups and causes. Yes, this means you will have to go outside and meet people. I'm sorry.
Join direct action groups. Same concept as above. You'll have to search in your area but once you know people it'll be easier to find more opportunities. Some of these groups may overlap. You might find direct action opportunities by engaging politically and vice versa. GO OUTSIDE AND TALK TO PEOPLE WHO ARE DOING THINGS TO HELP.
Get involved in local politics. Here are some quick tips. A lot of things are affected at the city level - stuff like book bans and bathroom bills are often battled first at local libraries and schools, and you can be part of those conversations! Sheriffs are elected and can have a big influence on local policing. Local elections affect how tax dollars are spent, how homeless populations are treated, and lots more. Don't snooze on local elections. Get involved and stay involved.
Look up your representatives. Get in the habit of calling, emailing, and writing letters. Figure out what legislature is being passed and then call your reps and harangue them about it - both to support bills you approve of and shoot down ones you don't. Sign petitions. Join email campaigns. Here's one you can go sign right now from the ACLU. See? Not that scary.
I think a lot of people figure that getting involved in politics doesn't matter or that it's all small potatoes but...man. The president is not god, no matter what he thinks. The sitting administration is not the sole power in the universe. There is an entire machine of government we can lean upon and act upon.
Finally, some general safety notes:
Some forms of direct action are not legal. Take steps to be safe if you choose to partake. Follow the lead of more seasoned activists for what forms of communication to use and so forth.
If you're not willing or able to put yourself at legal risk to act, you can help others by donating to bail funds and legal defense funds.
We've already seen this in some areas, and it will only get uglier - some bad actors are feeling emboldened by the change in regime and will misbehave. It's a good idea to learn some self-defense skills, in whatever way is comfortable to you, and brush up on some tenets of victimology that can help you stay safe. I'll write more about that in the future.
All right. That's all for now. It's by no means comprehensive...but should hopefully help you get started taking the next step. Stay safe out there.

I just want to say thank you for all the things you say on here. I also want to ask, if it’s okay, how did you handle transitioning when it came to the what ifs? I’ve found myself thinking I might be trans more and more- but every time I think I’m getting close to deciding what I want to do about it I keep hesitating and now I’m worried it’s too late. I’m almost 30- I know it’s possible to transition at any time. But I don’t know if it’s worth starting a process unless I’d be satisfied with the result, and I don’t know if I’d ever get the opportunity to present how I want to.
I really admire that you’ve found what works for you. You seem so confident and comfortable, your style is incredible, and I always look forward to the good night pictures of your cats. I sometimes think that I could be like that someday, but I keep talking myself out of making decisions because I’m so scared of the risks. How did you know when it was time to start transitioning? Did you have to push through doubt or did it just feel right?
Thank you, and I hope you have a lovely day.
Heya, Anon. Thank you for the kind words. <3
I'm not the best person to ask about transition doubt, as I've always had a very strong male identity ever since I can remember. Once I learned about HRT and top surgery at 18, I knew they were for me.
But where I can help is if it's family that is holding you back. This article is something I desperately wish was around when I was younger - I spent an extra 10 years in the closet to appease family and it nearly destroyed me. (I came out the first time at 20, and started HRT at 33. Top surgery not 'til 40 because I was poor.)
Remember, there's always ways to try out a new gender presentation. I used cosplay to get used to presenting male in public. Haircuts, clothes, and binding go a long way. And even things like HRT -- you can start on a smaller dose, stop, start again... you're really in a lot of control here as long as you are aware of the timeline of effects.
There will always be things about medical transition that you won't be satisfied about. It helps to cultivate gender envies that share physical traits with you. There will be surprises, bad and good. But a lot of imperfections feel less so simply with age. And there is a lot to love about having a trans body.
So your real criteria is -- "will I be happier overall?" For a lot of us, transition erases a lot of the background radiation in our lives that kept us from flourishing. I knew it was time to transition because my world had gone so very grey with depression - I had increasingly become unreliable and wasn't taking care of myself or my home very well. I wasn't exactly suicidal, but I absolutely wasn't living.
I transitioned when I was dead broke, and though it was a slog at times to pay for things, it was the best decision I have ever made in my life. Transition removed a major source of trauma in my life so I could focus on fixing my other shit and become a better person. I still have depression, ADHD, and my autism sometimes gets in the way, but they're manageable in a way that was impossible prior to HRT. And yeah, I also get to enjoy days of euphoria, too. :)
There's risks to everything and transition is a lot of work, rewarding as it is. The risks range from embarrassment to violence, and the former is survivable and the latter can be mitigated with planning & vigilance.
I'd suggest simply planning for the long term while you try things out. Build your safety net with affirming friends, work on your job prospects, and simply be honest and kind to yourself. Remember that emotional vulnerability is not a weakness and that doubt can guide you on what to prepare for.
And even if you decide transition is not for you, the introspection and planning should put you in a better place for what seems to be an uncertain future for us all.

Relationship Headcanons with Chris Cornell
A/n: currently working on a part two to this post so stay tuned 💌!!
- your passionate relationship with Chris spanning from the early 90’s to the 2000’s.

I don't see Chris as the type of boyfriend to become jealous when someone is getting a little too close to you. If anything, I could see him getting annoyed by the persons presence. Here he is trying to spend time with his girlfriend and suddenly someone's making a faulty attempt at sweeping you off of your feet. He usually just ends up staring at the person as if they're a new species he's never seen before, eventually pulling you away from them and leading you somewhere else.
If you tell him you're interested in learning how to play the guitar, he's offering to help you before you can even think about paying someone else to assist you. He'll place your fingers on the right strings and softly encourage you throughout the entire process.
"just put your finger there, yeah, and then play the note."
"That's good, real good. You're already getting the hang of it."
You always accompany him when he's out on tour because he cannot stand being away from you for unnecessarily long periods of time (and neither can you).
He's not overly affectionate in public and sees obnoxious couples as people attempting to prove their love to the public. The most he'll do in public is wrap an arm around you and place a sweet kiss to your temple. He keeps his hand wrapped around yours and hardly ever lets go.
guides you through crowds.
Behind closed doors he's practically wrapped around you like a koala. He'll hug you from behind and look over you while you complete daily tasks. Constantly runs his fingers through your hair and puts it into silly styles when he wants to keep his hands busy.
He's definitely one for intense eye contact. In the beginning of your relationship, you were a bit too timid to hold eye contact with him but he just wouldn't leave the subject alone! He'd brush the hair out of your face before gently caressing the curve of your cheek, guiding you to look over at him.
"Still can't figure out why you're so shy with me. You already know you don't have to do that with me."
Has an obsession with taking photos of you with his little camera. He could care less if you think you look messy or if you haven't even brushed your hair yet, he's getting that photo. Loves going into photo booths with you while you're accompanying him on tour.
He has photos of the two of you together, candids, and others where you're beaming at the camera/pouting because this is the tenth photo he's taken of you! He'll write sweet little captions on the backs of the photographs and they make your heart ache when you read them.
Supporters of his definitely see you as a style icon and journalists write little articles in magazines about you with the titles: "Times Y/n L/n Gave Us Looks We Were Starving For!" "A Burgundy Lipped Y/n L/n Stuns Next To The Talented Chris Cornell."
If you enjoy drawing, painting, embroidery, or anything else related to art, he'll hang up your artwork around the apartment.
His nicknames for you vary from shortened forms of your name, childish ones that popped out of nowhere, and the traditional baby/sweetheart.
He's an incredibly attentive boyfriend and never fails to check up on you before & after his shows. He'll make sure you're given whatever it is that you need and constantly looks your way as he's on stage.
He has many songs that are about you but doesn't make it too obvious. It's not until you're listening to the song and hear a lyric alluding to a special moment the two of you shared or a reference to something notable you said that you realize the song is in fact about you.
Your relationship isn't hidden but rather private. He doesn't share unnecessary details but he makes it a point to present his gleaming ring finger to the camera when somebody asks if he's available or if a talk show host hints at the subject.
He'll also mention you in passing and talk about you when it relates to the topic at hand.
"My wife and I were actually in Seattle about a month ago..." "While we were working on the album, my wife was definitely a great source of inspiration. She's great at helping me get out of...y'know whatever slump I may be in creatively. she's great." "and the next video we're gonna play is Tear Drop by Massive Attack!" "oh yeah my wife likes em a whole lot."
He’d want nothing more than for you to meet his family and get familiar with his mother. He has to stop himself from crying like a baby when he notices his mother treating you as if you were one of her own. As soon as she greets you with a big hug paired with a gleaming smile, he feels like he can finally breathe again from the pure relief he feels in the moment.

The following post contains people hating on a character on a skirt and a brief mention of sa and unaliving, please if any of those is something that triggers you skip the post and take care of yourself.
lets begin with the boundaries that i have
I do not feel comfortable with minors going to this or my nsfw acc simply because, is not a safe place for you to go (not even social media too but that's a different talk)
I do not like people going into any of my acc's to send my draws or content to minors bc... bitch do i even have to explain how fucked up that part is?
And last but not least; if you're going to talk shit about me at least talk shit with bases and evidence, how do you not have the first and most important rule about gossip? like??????
booooo tomatoes tomatoes tomatoes tomatoes tomatoes tomatoes tomatoes
I will not name anyone that was involved because first of all, they are minors and even tho they are old enough to know that what they're doing is wrong, naming them could do more harm than good and I think they are able to change if they just accept that their actions have consequences.... I'll be also using neutral pronouns for the ppl involved.
if you know the ppl that are in the screenshots please don't share their social media or acc's to avoid them getting harassed, also please don't harass the people mentioned here.
with that being said!
this situation has been happening for i think the last month when someone informed me about someone talking shit about my art on a private discord server.
I think that the concept of blocking blogs that have stuff that you're triggered or you don't vibe with is very simple to understand.
the persons that have been talking about how i don't draw normal stuff and how dare i to draw varian in a dress and being cute ohh no god forbid....
I don't know if you can't realize maybe I'm drawing Varian (A CHARACTER THAT DOESNT EVEN EXISTS) as trans masc and trans fem, and that anyone can have their hc and any hc are valid!
IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT I DO OR DRAW JUST DON'T FOLLOW ME ¡is that simple!
the situation with the person who is the owner of the server where they talk shit about me has not moderate well the place and allowed ppl to hate talk about a creator who they don't even know, neither talk to, nor they should interact with.
I tried to confront the person by sending them a text message on tumblr, said text message has been ignored and the person simply uploaded a new post back then, so....
also im going to tag this with vat7k bc the problem happened inside the fandom.
screenshots and more details under the cut
how to respect other people's boundaries
aparently y'all need a tutorial

"A certain kind of guided, detailed writing can not only help us process what we’ve been through and assist us as we envision a path forward; it can lower our blood pressure, strengthen our immune systems, and increase our general well-being. Expressive writing can result in a reduction in stress, anxiety, and depression; improve our sleep and performance; and bring us greater focus and clarity."
this is from an article of harvard that explains how writting helps to heal trauma.
remember to inform yourself before talking or using terms you don't know the meaning
trauma bonding definition
what is destructive criticism
I can accept criticism when it comes from a place of pointing out a part of my artwork that can be upgraded or a different technique i could use, or even the pose or the technical aspect of a painting/drawing, what is literally just insulting an artwork because you don't like it and have no grounds for it and is just hate... that's what i don't accept.
criticism and arguments come from a ground of respect from the both sides, not from only straight up hate and disrespect.

that's all i have to say abt it all...
please remember to be safe online and even more if youre a minor
how to be safe online

"I fucking hate it here."
"Understandable," Michael agreed, the bitter, sullen disgust in his voice somehow greater than Gerry's. He gingerly approached a dresser that was in the middle of the hall, for some ungodly reason, and tugged on the stuck upper drawer until it opened. The documents inside were spotted with mould, and he was very glad he had brought a respirator and gloves. Paging through them revealed years of sales receipts, which could be of interest, if they weren't in such bad shape. Michael made a mental note of them and shut the drawer again. They weren't what he and Gerry had come to Pinhole Books for.
It had been a slow and gradual process to move Gerry into Michael's flat with him. Neither of them had ever come out and admitted that's what was happening‒ at first it was some of Gerry's clothes in Michael's closet, then it was his jewelry joining Michael's own on his dresser, then Gerry's art supplies started piling up on the rarely used kitchen table. Michael had treasured each and every addition, and made space for both Gerry and his things. They were all welcome.
This was the first deliberate venture they had made to Pinhole together, with the express intention of collecting more of Gerry's things and bringing them to Michael's‒ their flat. Two suitcases waited by the stairs, packed with shirts and trousers and other articles that hadn't made the journey already. Gerry was still in his old room, gathering more things, but the rest of the flat was stuffed to bursting with books, and there didn't appear to be much else of Gerry's worth taking.
That was making Michael's chest hurt, and not because of the mold and mildew. Pinhole was so obviously Mary's domain, her store, her home, and Gerry was like an afterthought. There was barely anything in the rest of the flat to show that there had been another inhabitant‒ no shoes by the door, no pictures on the refrigerator, no additional furniture for him to sit on. No touches of Gerry.
In a way, that made things easier, as far as extracting Gerry from such an awful place. But it still made Michael feel utterly sick to his stomach.
He paused at what must have been Mary's office, struck by the large painting on the wall. What had once been a large and intricate eye was in tatters, shredded to pieces by what looked like large claw marks. The rest of the room was in disarray, as if whatever had caused the mess had left it for someone else to clean up. Michael didn't know if it was Gerry or Mary herself, but it clearly hadn't been touched.
"Mum's poltergeist phase." Gerry's flat voice came from behind him. Michael immediately turned and reached out, pulling his boyfriend into his arms. Gerry's face was blank and pale beneath his respirator, eyes dull and vacant, as if being in that place had sucked all the life from him. He gave no reaction to being in Michael's embrace, stiff and unmoving, even as Michael hugged him closer. "I thought…I thought she actually liked that painting, but then she…ripped it apart like nothing. And chucked books at my head. And…and…"
His words dried up, lost to the pages of books that filled the space around them like a tumor. Michael bumped his forehead against Gerry's, the only show of affection he could manage with the safety gear. "Do you have everything?" he asked, desperate to get Gerry out of the damned building. Gerry shook his head, brushing past him into the room, moving like a ghost lost to the past. He crouched, and the floorboards creaked and complained as he lifted one up, sneaking his hand beneath to pull something free.
When he returned to Michael's side he could see that it was a glass jar stuffed with papers, sealed against the dust and mildew, that Gerry cradled very gently against his chest. "It's the only place she wouldn't think to look for it," he explained, the hurt in his voice sneaking out past his face mask. Michael nodded, taking hold of Gerry's arms and guiding him out of the room and through the hall, past the towering piles of books that threatened to collapse on top of them. He didn't bother to ask again, just pulled Gerry along with him, collecting the suitcases on their way out. Out into the fresh air and sunshine, finally free of Pinhole Books.
Gerry stayed silent for the trip back to their flat, holding his jar with a blank look on his face. Once they were there and stripped of their work clothes, he drifted away towards their bedroom, and Michael opted to leave him in peace for a bit. He busied himself with the laundry, not wanting to risk contaminating their flat with whatever had been in Pinhole. When he finally emerged from the kitchen, smelling strongly of chemicals, he found Gerry sitting on the floor of their room, the glass jar empty and its contents laid out around him. Michael paused, unsure if he should intrude, but Gerry looked up at him with eyes wet with unshed tears, and he was helpless to resist.
"I saved everything that I could," Gerry explained as Michael sat down behind him, wrapping his arms around his middle and setting his head on his shoulder. "It wasn't a lot, but for a while she left things as they were before. Didn't bother to throw them out." He scrubbed his arm over his eyes, his burned skin coming away wet. "When I was…twelve, I think, it was the first time I snapped back at her, and she…it was like a storm, she destroyed everything. There was nothing left." His fingers hovered over a ripped piece of paper, a scribbled outline of a flower in a rainbow of colors. "I felt so stupid, but I wanted to hang on to whatever I could. I know we were never a happy family, but maybe…we were a family. Once."
Michael reached over and picked up a photograph by his knee, creased with lines from being folded to fit in the jar. A lump formed in his throat as he looked at the baby held between Mary and Eric, plump and bald and smiling gummily at the camera. Mary looked like she was merely tolerating the experience, but Eric was positively beaming. "You look like him," Michael commented quietly.
"I think that's why Mary couldn't stand to have me around," Gerry noted, his voice thick with emotion, passing Michael another picture. He was a toddler in that picture, standing next to a crouching Eric at some sort of park, both of them wearing large sunglasses and smiling exactly alike. "I used to hear him through the walls sometimes, when Mary summoned him after I'd gone to bed. I thought I was just dreaming, and when I learned…" the tears in Gerry's eyes finally spilled over as his breath stuttered painfully. "She stopped summoning him. And I never got a chance to…know him."
Michael gently set the pictures aside and pulled Gerry back against his chest, pressing his forehead against his temple. "I'm sorry," he whispered, because that was the only thing he could say, because there were no other words to say that could ease Gerry's grief. "I'm so sorry." He was mourning too, for a man he'd never met, but who's absence had affected Gerry all his life. "He would have loved you so much."
Gerry nodded against his collarbone. Whatever he tried to say was broken by a choked sob, so instead his hand scrambled for a roll of papers amidst all the others. They were tightly coiled around an object, and as Gerry struggled with them, a thick metal pen slipped out and onto the rug. Michael picked it up and passed it to Gerry, who held it close and watched as Michael unfurled the papers.
He barely made it past the first line before he was crying too. It was a letter from father to son, a pre-mortem that Eric probably didn't know would be one of the few things he left to his child. Michael couldn't even bear to finish it, putting it aside before his tears ruined the paper. Judging from the places on the letter where the ink was smudged and blotchy, that had happened before.
Gerry was running his fingers over the pen, his own tears falling unheeded as he stared down at it. It was obviously a custom piece, something intended to be passed down, and now it was safely in Gerry's hands where it belonged. Michael tugged him close again, burying his face in Gerry's hair. Now he knew for certain that his boyfriend had inherited his mother's hair color. No wonder he hated it so much.
"He was an artist, too," Gerry choked out, pulling a few pages loose from the tight coil. It was lettering, looping and beautifully crisp, made by the pen now in Gerry's hand. His son's preferred name seemed to be Eric's favorite to practice. "I found these in her office and hid them. When she asked what happened to them I lied and said I didn't know, but I don't think she believed me. I wasn't as good at lying to her then."
There was more unsaid about what Mary's reaction to that was. There was no way for him to soothe that pain, but Michael ran his hands over Gerry's chest, gentle passes up and down, with as much love as he could. A kind touch for every one of pain. "That's all over now," Michael managed to say, sniffing inelegantly and shifting so Gerry's hair came unstuck from his wet face. "You, you don't have to ever go back there again. If you forgot anything I'll go get it for you, but you don't ever have to go back there. You're home now."
Gerry shook in his arms, like Michael's words were a physical thing that had settled over him. "Say that again," he asked, turning and wrapping his arms around Michael, desperately tight, tucking his face into the hollow of Michael's neck. "Please say that again."
"You're home," Michael repeated, rocking them from side to side, hands in constant motion across Gerry's body, familiar and loving. "You're here with me now, you don't have to go back. This is where you should always be." Gerry's sobs sounded like they hurt, but he was clinging back, held safe in Michael's arms, where he belonged. "You're home, my love. You and everything that matters to you, we're all here now. We're not going anywhere."
Those words were as true as he could make them. He didn't know all that the future would hold, but Michael knew that he wanted Gerry in it with him, for him to love and care for and show how good life could be. And he could feel the full weight of Gerry's love for him, the way he clung back to him, seeking comfort from him. Gerry trusted him with his pain and his grief, freely sharing it with Michael after a lifetime of holding it in. That mattered to him more than anything in the world.
Over Gerry's head, Michael examined the pieces of Gerry's childhood, carefully salvaged and hidden for so long. No more, he decided. Those treasured childhood photos could join the ones on their refrigerator‒ the strips from all the photobooths Michael had pulled Gerry into, and the stupid selfies he'd printed off because they made him laugh. Eric's calligraphy would be preserved in a frame, where Gerry could see it whenever he wished. And Michael could take that empty glass jar and fill it with the memories of them together‒ ribbons and snapped shoelaces and love notes and candy wrappers and a million pieces of them. To show to Gerry and anyone else who looked at it that their lives were full of love, and neither of them needed to hide it away anymore.

Simon sat on a chair with bourbon sitting next to him and a cigarette in his fingers, in a broken apartment glass everywhere, holes in walls, broken chairs, tv. It looked like someone broke in and just destroyed everything. Simon had a rage fit, tears falling down his face, screaming till his throat felt raw.
Why the fuck would you do this? Why would you…You couldn’t. You wouldn’t. He felt numb as he sat there drinking his life away, filling his lungs with cancer. Nothing won’t take this pain away. God you were alone. By yourself. Only if he didn’t kick you out, only if he was there to save you. To hold you. He sat there thinking how those days went, where he could have done something.
0800
Simon was upset the fact that you didn’t text him back. It’s been almost two weeks since the break up, usually when both of you would take a break, you’d come back and talk things through. Toxic? For sure but you are always on his mind, even the bad times.
He wished everything was handled better that night, maybe he should have sat with her and explained that he just hadn’t felt anything emotionally. That he didn’t mean to push her away. But that would be opening scrapped up wounds. Reopening them like a child playing with their scabs.
He didn’t know the events that happened after the break up. Simon just moved slowly, getting back to the single life scene being alone. It wasn’t until Soap brought up a news article.
“Aye have you heard about the police findin’ a body in the car last night? News been sayin’ it’s a druggie.” He said looking down at his phone.
They were waiting for a meeting, they just got back from a mission last night, and needed to go over somethings that happened during it. Simon was looking at his phone periodically.
Buzz buzz buzz
Unknown number popped up, he denies it as he listens more. “Did they say who they were?” Gaz asked leaning back in his chair.
“Nah, just says that the body is a week or more old. Poor thing.” Soap said putting his phone down.
Simon always remembered how scary it was to find his brother all fucked out by drugs. Helping his mother through the process of getting him clean. It was a fucking nightmare. He felt bad for the poor bastard’s family.
Buzz buzz buzz
He picked his phone up again with the same number. He denied it once more, as Price walked through the door. He should have answered. He should have left it alone at the same time.
1900
The number didn’t call back again after that but left a voicemail. He waited till he got home, pour a whiskey out for him as he stared at the voicemail. He grumbled under his breath as he pressed it, putting it on speaker.
“Hey son,” His heart dropped, he knew that voice. That was your father. He hated Simon, that was one of the many other reasons why they stopped talking to you. Simon felt his blood boil. “I-,” It went quiet for a moment before he heard a sob in the background. “You need to meet us at the hospital in downtown. As soon as you can.”
He snatched his phone and dialed his number. The ringing kept going. His heart racing. What happened to you? What did you do? Are you alive? Please be okay. He thought of the worst of the worst. Maybe you were kidnapped? Maybe you were assaulted?
“Simon?” Simon froze as he gripped the glass.
“Where is she?” Simon asked making it to the point.
“You should just come here son,” He responded his voice trembling. “We will talk here.”
He sighed and agreed. Maybe you drank too much, got back into that habit. You both will figure it out together, it is fine, you’ve done it before you can do it again. The drive there made his heart thump, your parents were always disappointed in your drinking. That was the second reason. You were not a nice drunk for sure but Simon knew the real you.
“Why do they hate me?” You cried as you threw the last tequila bottom across the room. Simon stood still as he watched you pace back and forth. “They told me to never come back home. They don’t like the fact I am with you OR my drinking. I don’t have a problem Simon.”
He knew why you drank, the depression, the PTSD, the pain of your surgery. It was too much for you beautiful brain. You took pills for depression but it seemed to not help lately. Simon shouldn’t have let it go this far. He has seen it with soldiers, being discharged because of the problem.
“Little one,” He said walking cautiously to you. “Maybe we should come up with a plan.”
You scoffed. “What plan?” Your eyes were wet, not all there, distant.
It reminded him of his dad, not that you were beating him just the face. Face of anger mixed with sadness, you were in pain. His sighed cupping your face. “To stop drinking,” You were about to object before snapping your mouth closed. “Doing this to yourself isn’t gonna work sweetheart.”
“Are you gonna leave me?”
2000
That rang through his head as he stood in front of your dad. Confused. No you wouldn’t. “Where is she?” He said looking up at your mom.
She was a mess, sat in the room that were for patient’s families when their loved ones pass away. Your mom had tissues in her hand as she kept sobbing. He snapped his head over to your brother. “Where is she?” Simon asked again.
Your father placed his hand on his shoulder. “Simon,” Simon brushed his hand off. “Simon listen. Did she stop taking her pills?”
Simon laughed genuinely laughed. “No I made sure she took them every day.”
“Did she act different,” Your mom stood up. “Did you notice ANYTHING different with her?!” She rose her voice which made Simon’s blood boil. “All her things were in her car! What did you do?”
Then it hit him. Not the last couple of weeks did he make sure. He kicked you out that night. His heart stopped. “We fought that night, nothing crazy.” He mumbled looking away.
“Nothing crazy!” Your mom yelled. Your brother walked to her whispering to her. Trying to calm her down.
“Allison,” Your father whispered. “Enough, son take her outside for a moment.” Your brother nodded walking her out as she sobbed. It was eerie quiet. He killed her. Simon killed her. If he didn’t kick her out she would be here. She would be in bed with him. Not being examined by strangers. “Simon,” Simon didn’t look at him. He couldn’t. He killed his baby girl. His child. “Simon this isn’t your fault.”
Simon scoffed. “I kicked her out.”
It was quiet yet again. “We disowned her for stupid reasons.”
2200
It was a few hours before a doctor came in, letting them know that it was a drug overdose. Irony. This was irony. Your mom sobbing harder, brother holding her, your father now crying, and Simon still as a rock. You were gone.
The doctor mentioned that they were aloud to see you. That you were cleaned up enough to say their goodbyes. Simon wanted to scoff at that statement. He let your family see you first, he didn’t think he could see you. Or deserve to.
He watched as your mother and brother walked out, your father walked to him. “You should go back there. She looks…” His lip trembled. Simon looked away and nodded, your father patted his shoulder.
2243
The nurse took him back to the room you laid in. They haven’t covered you yet, he stood in the doorway as the nurse walked in. You were pale, your skin having no color. The color that brought you life, the lips that once was moving and smiling.
He walked all the way in, feeling his skin tingle, his heart racing, his chest tighten. Simon swallowed the bile quickly before it came back up. The nurse stood on one side of you as she looked at the taller man. “We are going to have to take her in less than an hour sir. Police want to look more into the toxicity.”
Simon wanted to throw the small lady, she was doing her job for sure. He just didn’t want her to take you away, secretly he would hope that you would take a quick breath and say jokes haha. But you laid still.
Simon walked to your side and placed a hand on your cheek. “I will leave you alone.” The nurse said as she walked out.
Why did you do it? What were your last thoughts? “Come on sweethear’, just open them.” He whispered running his finger down your cheek.
It was his fault. He kicked you out. He pushed you away. He left you alone knowing damn well you had nowhere else to go. Was it because he didn’t believe that you would leave? That you would be home waiting for him begging to talk about it?
Simon knelt next to you and placed his head on your hand. You can’t be gone. Please. Please don’t be gone. “Let’s go home baby. We can forget all about it. I know you didn’t mean to, I know you love me,” He looked back up to your face. Unmoving. Pale. Cold. Alone. He felt the sting pinging his eyes as water started to blur his vision. “I need ya, please just wake up. I’m sorry. ‘m so fucking sorry.”
The nurse found him laying next to you holding you as he sobbed. Combing through your hair, whispering sweet things. Begging for you to come back to him. The nurse left him alone with you for a few more hours, letting the cops know that your family was still saying their goodbyes.
0304
Simon sat there numb. Tears still spilling. He just wished you were here instead of being alone. He wished he never kicked you out. He wished that he would have been able to tell you his emotions. He wished for you to be here, in front of him.
None of that was going to happen. Simon won’t be able to make you laugh one last time. Simon won’t be able to laugh with you as you made a competition of you can stuff more grapes in your mouth. Simon won’t be able to feel your warm skin against his. Won’t have the chance to talk about children. Marriage. Fuck even retirement with you.
And it was his fault. It was his fault that you took your life and the last thing on your mind was that you were unloved and alone.
He wished he could go back to when you were here. Alive. Maybe in another life you two were happy, alive, and not fucked up. But that wasn’t the reality. Reality was that you were gone and he was here. Alone.

OFMD fandom, consider TGCF
Tian Guan Ci Fu is a Chinese light novel with an English translation published by Seven Seas Entertainment as Heaven Official's Blessing. You might not have heard of it, but chances are pretty good that you've heard of Mo Dao Zu Shi, adapted by Tencent into a tv series that aired on Netflix as The Untamed. ("Sexy Times with Wangxian", yes.) That's by the same author, Mo Xiang Tong Xiu!
For roughly the year before OFMD first aired, I was in MXTX fandom, more focused on MDZS than TGCF, although I'd read and liked both. Recently, though, I've come back to TGCF in a big way - doing a full reread - and a number of parallels to OFMD have been jumping out at me, making me think, hey, maybe my friends would like this?
Canon m/m romance that is the emotional backbone for the story
Lots of humor!
Main character from a high status background ...
... who is derided as a laughingstock by his high-falutin' peers and by people on the ground
Love interest who is widely believed to be the most powerful evil being in existence
Despite the obvious aesthetic differences, the MC and LI get each other on a level nobody else does
Also despite appearances, both MC and LI are very much not young and spend a long time alone before they meet
You could even say there's a "slyly complicated butch/femme dynamic" (a phrase from an old article about OFMD that always sticks in my head)
MC's kindness and attention to people considered "worthless" often help solve the problem
Okay, curious? I'll tell you about TGCF in more detail behind the cut.
(I do want to be clear here, I'm stressing these points of similarity but these two canons are not The Same - I'm just saying, if these are aspects of OFMD that really resonated with you, you should think about giving TGCF a try!)
Okay, if you haven't really heard of MXTX novels before, I assume you might not be familiar with a lot of the genre conventions, so I'll step way back. TGCF is xianxia, which is a type of fantasy where people can gain powers and eventually ascend to immortality/godhood; in some xianxia books, the process of gaining or using those powers is the point, but here it's really just background for the story. These powers are gained through "cultivation", which can be a combo of meditation and martial arts practice. People who die are either reincarnated or turn into ghosts, depending on how much resentment they have going on.
The first volume opens with a prologue explaining that Xie Lian was a handsome and popular prince who ascended at seventeen; when his kingdom was beset with war and famine, he came back to help the populace but was unsuccessful. As a result, they burned his temples and stopped worshipping him, and he was also banished from the heavens with his powers cut off. Having to live as a penniless normal person (but still immortal) was some Real Bad Times, and when he ascended again, angrily, he was banished again. This time, he went back down and lived peacefully but in destitution as a wandering busker and scrap collector for several centuries. And then he ascended a third time.
That's where the story picks up! Xie Lian is now a god again and everyone appears to either hate him or think he's incredibly pathetic. He starts off in trouble by accidentally causing a lot of property damage, and to repay it he's sent to solve a mystery: brides in wedding processions that go by a particular mountain are being kidnapped. Part of his investigation involves dressing up as a bride as bait for the "ghost groom", and this is where the reader gets their first sight of Hua Cheng, taking bride!Xie Lian's hand and briefly guiding and protecting him. After the mystery is solved, Xie Lian finds out that the man who seemed very kind and attractive to him is actually a ghost who defeated and destroyed thirty-three gods - he's the ruler of Ghost City, someone everyone is terrified of.
I'm not going to go further into the plot because there are some big central mysteries that are so fun to uncover as you go, and I don't want to deprive you of that! But as the story goes on, Hua Cheng is involved more and more, and the adorable thing that I think will appeal to OFMD fans is the way everyone else is really concerned by AHH OH NO HUA CHENG while Xie Lian always feels safe with him. (And by the same token, Hua Cheng is always impressed with Xie Lian despite the way everyone else thinks he's obviously the crummiest god that could possibly exist.) There's also a lot of resonance with s1 of OFMD in the way that Hua Cheng, let's just say, has been following Xie Lian's ship before arranging a meeting, and also is well aware of his feelings for Xie Lian while the latter is considerably more confused.
The full translation has been pulled from the web as its translator collab'd with Seven Seas, but you can find some other people's translations of the earlier chapters still online via NovelUpdates. If this all sounds interesting to you but you're not sure about buying or can't find it through your library system, I'd recommend checking that out (although be aware that free translations are sometimes ... real bad, just run through Google Translate).
My last point, not really aimed at OFMD fans: I feel like a lot of people who say that canon queer romance can never match up to the fanon surrounding queerbait need to get into BL! It has a very fanfiction sensibility, all the drama and yearning and sex you could want. (Well, this one doesn't actually have sex in it. But in the MDZS extras Wei Wuxian has a canonical non-con kink, so.)

Writing prompt! Imagine Kar'niss and Tav actually getting into a disagreement about something relatively serious (something other than Kar'niss just getting grumpy about not feeding the shadows), and it being a moment of realization for one or both of them that Kar'niss is growing as a person to be more than just a yes-man to a perceived "majesty"
Weeks had passed since Tav’s arrival at Moonrise. During their stay they had bore witness to many incidents that made their skin crawl, atrocities which cemented in the idea that this may not be the place for them. They were in the process of packing their things, stuffing articles of clothing and supplies into their bag in a hurried fashion. Their mind often drifted to Kar’niss, one of few individuals in the accursed place they felt even a sliver of sympathy for. Yet he seemed cemented in place, unwilling to budge from his devotion, putting Tav in a conflicted state of mind. Distracted as they were they didn’t hear the soft clicking that moved along the wall, their concentration broken by a voice tucked away in a high corner.
“What is the True Soul doing?”
Tav whirled around, their heart rate kicking into high gear from the sudden intrusion. Their gaze drifted to see several reflective eyes peering at them from a darkened corner, watching Tav with an intensity that was slightly off putting. They often forgot there were many holes the drider could squeeze through if he wished it.
“Kar’niss, you startled me,” Tav said. They placed their hand on their chest in an effort to steady the rapid thumping within their rib cage. “I’m packing. I don’t think this is where I belong.”
Kar’niss’ pedipalps curled tight to his body, inching from his perch near the ceiling to creep closer to the ground. “True Soul is...leaving?”
“Yes,” Tav murmured, “I think that is for the best. I realize you hold loyalty to your Mistress but I at least ask for a head start before you inform the others. I’d like to think I’ve earned your trust enough for that much.” Tav swung their pack over their shoulder while turning to face the perplexed drider.
He frowned and climbed off the wall, his legs carrying him across the floor to bridge the gap between himself and Tav. “A traitor, a heretic…?! How dare one of Her faithful abandon Her!” He arced up while his front legs lifted into an aggressive stance.
Tav didn’t budge, reading Kar’niss’ face, able to see a tinge of uncertainty within his features. “No, how dare She treat one of Her faithful the way She does you.” Tav snapped, their chest pushed out in an effort to stand up to his advance.
“Wh—What? True Soul speaks lies. We are Her chosen, Her devout! We should rip out your blasphemous tongue!” Kar’niss shifted from side to side in an anxious trot, his hand retrieving the sword at his back.
“I am the first that has spoken any truth to you at all, at least in these walls. Don’t you see how they treat you? You’re less than dirt on the bottom of a shoe to these fanatics. They have one goal and they don’t give a shit who dies to obtain it. That includes you.”
“No, NO! Majesty loves us, She did not see an abomination in us. She saw a soldier, strong and loyal. A guide to shepherd Her followers into Her light. We are important!” Kar’niss’ breathing increased in pace, the grip on his sword hilt so tight that his knuckles grew ghostly pale.
“I don’t see you as an abomination either. Does that count for nothing? Who else besides me has spoken to you since I’ve been here? Who played beautiful music for you while you stood alone at the top of the tower?”
“But—“
“Who bandaged your wounds when the rest left you to die? Who called you by your name? Not drider, not web-arse, not eight-legged freak. Kar’niss!”
His hands trembled, his eyes darting around in confusion. “W-Wuh—We...are Her chosen. We are nothing without Majesty’s light…” His voice trailed off, wobbled and in pain.
“Which is the lie they have been feeding you since the beginning. But I don’t believe that, not for a second. I think you’re better than playing puppet to some selfish deity. You should come with me, leave this wretched place. Rise above the expectations of someone else.”
Kar’niss backed away from Tav as if he had been struck with a weapon, visibly panting from a growing panic. “They do not know us! They think they can barge in and try to lead us astray!”
“I am trying to lead you astray because I don’t want you to die here!”
“What does it matter if we die? Our lives are forfeit, we belong no where! We are nothing!” Kar’niss’ voice raised, his body lifting up more so as his inner anger churned deep within.
“Stop it, it’s NOT TRUE!”
“IT IS!”
“Tell me what the fuck you want!” Tav yelled as they stepped forward, invading the drider’s space despite how volatile the situation had grown.
“I—We…”
Tav marched up and poked Kar’niss directly between the pedipalps. “Don’t hold out on me now, speak for yourself for once.”
“Be silent!”
“Tell me, TELL ME!”
“To be more than THIS!” He cried, the grip on his sword lost causing it to hit the ground with a loud clang. His entire body quivered while he backed away from Tav. His form once puffed up and aggressive shrank down considerably, tucking himself away into a corner. He put his face in his hands, the sob he bit back escaped, a torrent of emotion unleashed. “I want to be more...than this.” His words were muffled by his hands, dripping with pent up anguish he kept locked away for far too long.
Tav exhaled a heavy breath while they rubbed the back of their neck, doing their best to calm down after the heated exchange. They wandered over to where Kar’niss sought to hide away, a frown etched over their features. “As do I. Please don’t give up, there is more for you out there than you may think.”
His hands lowered to reveal his face which was smeared with moisture. He stared at Tav a long moment to think over what was said, struggling to process it. Before he could respond the sound of quick footsteps were heard approaching the room. The door thrust open and a half-orc woman known as Z’rell entered.
“What is going on? We heard a commotion from downstairs!” Her eyes darted to Tav with scrutiny then wandered over to Kar’niss who looked upset. “Drider, you are meant to be on patrols. You’ve been asked not to hassle the True Soul. Must we take you to the dungeons for reeducation?”
Tav frowned while Kar’niss sucked in a sharp breath, his fear of such a fate radiating from his very pores.
“No, Disciple Z’rell. He is not hassling me,” Tav said.
The half-orc’s upper lip curled, taking note of the packed satchel over Tav’s shoulder. “And where is it you’re going? You’ve not been given any assignment.”
Tav’s breath hitched in their throat, their gaze wandering over to Kar’niss. They knew he could out them at any moment as he knew of their plan to leave. A silence fell over the room, each party involved looking to one another, the tension thick in the air.
“W-With us,” Kar’niss said. “We are to retrieve new followers, it is Majesty’s will. With a True Soul they will be more willing to follow an a-abomination.”
Tav’s eyebrows lofted with some surprise. They watched Kar’niss’ features, able to sense it pained him to lie and yet at the same time it was an odd sort of relief to him.
Z’rell huffed. “Very well, if it is in service to the Absolute. Do not be gone for long, we march for Baldur’s Gate soon. And for fucks sake keep it down.”
Both Tav and Kar’niss nodded. “Of course Disciple Z’rell, we understand. Thank you,” Tav said.
The warlock rolled her eyes and left the room, closing the door behind her with a firm slam. The pair left behind exhaled in unison, as close of a call as either could’ve expected. Tav turned to the drider who was still a little dazed and pensive.
“You saved my neck. Thank you, Kar’niss.”
He shook his head while rubbing his hands together in a nervous fervor. “She will be angry with us. We will be punished, She will take Her light away.”
Tav stepped in closer and reached out to cup his face in a bold move, guiding his chin to look at them. He was startled by the touch unsure how to react to it, but he wasn’t wholly opposed to the contact. “We will find a new light. Come with me, leave this place. Be more than this.” They paused and made eye contact with him. “Please.”
His lips trembled while his legs shuffled with hesitation, one hand rubbing at his plated arm in uncertainty. He had never defied the Absolute before, never even considered it. When he looked at Tav he felt things he couldn’t yet understand. Everything they said had been true even if some pieces were still difficult to fully accept. They were one of Majesty’s True Souls, maybe it meant more than he was meant to know.
“I...will go with you, True Soul. But we are afraid.”
Tav bowed their head and nodded. “I am too. Take comfort in the fact that we’ll be together. I won’t hurt you, I won’t make demands. Trust in me.”
Kar’niss’ brows knit, the very idea of trust a foreign concept all its own. “I will try.”
“Let’s get out of here.”
Kar’niss followed Tav out of the room, the pair wandering past the guards without incident. Kar’niss’ eyes darted around nervously as if certain all around him knew he was leaving for good, certain someone would call out their betrayal. No one did, not a peep to be heard from the residents within, all too self absorbed in their own goals and desires to care about the drider’s or Tav’s intent. They’d exit Moonrise tower and march away from it’s looming shadow toward Baldur’s Gate. Kar’niss stopped on the road to look over his shoulder at the building he’d called home for sometime now. A lingering sadness hung over him, the push and pull of desperation for the Absolute’s acceptance locked in a bitter battle with his deep rooted desire to carve his own path. He couldn’t be sure this was the right choice or even if he fully believed in it, brainwashed as he was. But there was a tiny voice growing within his mind, a spark of free thought that told him to follow Tav into the den of the unknown. For better or for worse this was the voice he chose to listen to. He ripped his gaze from Moonrise and looked ahead to Baldur’s Gate, dutifully marching behind Tav to seek out new horizons, his fate left hanging in the balance.
A crack had begun to form in the foundation of his faith. It would be up to Kar’niss if he wanted to nurture the sprouts of change—or stamp them out as weeds.

Okay
I don't do..anons. so yes, just gonna ask this as me‼️ Hello‼️‼️
When
Right okay, I saw your art like the yellow red one right and I saw you talking about your tulpa in that and it took me a second cause at first I thought you were doing a Collab with someone and I was looking for a tagged account or something 😭😭 and then I was like hang on it's not been tagged so it can't be that. And then I saw the hashtag about the tulpa thing and my brain was like, I've heard that term before. And I had, but it was cause of Supernatural. Think the episode was Hell House, either way in that course some kids draw a sigil and don't know what they're doing, spread a rumour and enough people see the sigil and believe the made up story for it to become real. I'm gonna hazard a guess that this isn't what's happening here. Cause 1. No axe murderers are present and 2...idk. suppose it wasn't on accident lol
But basically, what I'm asking is, what's gone on? Like please could you define what a tulpa is cause I'm a tad bit confuseled. I've got a grasp. A jist if you will. But yeh, that, and how it works for you and how long all this has been about for because yeh, the original post confused me a lot and I had no context to understand what was going on lol
Hiii!!!!!
Ok so, never watched supernatural cause I lack media culture, but I looked at the fandom wiki and I assure you it's NOTHING like that 😭
Ik the practice of creating a tulpa comes from buddhism and is related to religion and stuff, but like I found out about it through an online friend back in 2017ish cause they developed one. Needles to say, in these cases we're talking about the western interpretation of the phenomenon that is mainly psychological and not spiritual.
With a tulpa you bascially create a sentient being on a subconscious level that shares the body with you. Please note that this is not in any way related to conditions such as DID, as you do not have the splitting of a subconscious, you actually add more of them into a body. And an important aspect that separates tulpae from alters is that with a tulpa you're fully aware and consensual with having a second person inside the body, you will never accidentally develop a tulpa out of the blue.
To make an example also, imagine there's a wheel with a hamster inside, they represent respectively the body and the subconscious mind that inhabits it. Now imagine there are more hamsters but they're in the same wheel. That's a body with more subconsciouses (I might be butchering this word I'm so sorry).
Needless to say, doing this requires a long trail of meditation, as one needs to focus on everything they perceive out of a person normally (the way they look, talk, move, smell. you get it, everything) and obviously their personality. These things do change with time once the tulpa settles as a stable part of the host's (the one who creates them) life, but at least sketching down the idea of the person that you're creating helps in the overall process.
Ok so. The most important part. A tulpa is NOT evil, and cannot be evil. That's something I found out in the guides I followed at the start of my journey with my first tulpa. They have no reason to turn over their creator cause they are meant to be companions. I'm not super informed on the theory thing now cause I got into it two years ago and since then we've just been living, but there articles online who talk about this so feiughirgh
Now, in my experience Jack came to be part of my life around two years ago, on july 9th. I was going through a weird depressive period where I would not talk to anybody and felt like shit over nothing. During that time I also used to watch fight club a lot, like three times a week, and grew obsessively attached to the characters to the point all I thought about was fc (this feels so weird to remember omg). Anyways, remembered about my friend with the tulpa, and decided to do the same thing. So I got informed on the procedure and gradually managed to develop Jack over time :3
On the 27th of Trevor also started developing, in his case it was Jack that went throughout the major part of the creation process cause I was busy with school, but yeah since then it's been the three of us living life yk.
Also, I obviously got better since that summer, them being with me helped me out a lot and obviously I didn't create them with the intent of getting. Free experimental therapy or some shit. They are part of me and I love them ver very much, knowing that they're always with me brings a sense of sheer comfort in my life. I just love my bros man. Then again, I suck at communication so there are days when we talk less. nonetheless we still interact via concepts or through the headspace (mental landscape where they pretty much live when not fronting).
Oh, also lately we've been aware of the fact that Jack is kinda always fronting (fronting is having control of the body btw kewnkfkgb) during the day when we are in silence at a school or on the bus, while I am the one that keeps the conversations with people (ironic ik). Trevor instead has no interest in the outside world, he just stays in the headspace and works as a mechanic apparently (he doesn't tell me where his workplace is also??? like for no reason at all also, I can't find that fucking place no matter how much I roam around).
Ough ok I know I sound a bit insane saying those things, but that's how it is 💨
With tulpamacy there are so many aspects one can discuss, but again, there are guides online where everything you need to know is explained, and they are explained better than whatever ramble I'm putting down here. I'm not an expert of the field, I just happen to be living it yk.
Sorry for the long and I guess confusing post, there is much more stuff I could tell you about but like. I think this manages to get the overall idea of how we work out 😸
