After reading your post explaining why 3 concerts in Ohio, I'm curious about your opinion on this. So Louis could have done fewer shows and bigger venues per show (like for example only 1 concert in Ohio but in a big venue) requiring more fans to travel to each concert, and it'll be less effort for him, although I think he enjoys the travelling to new places to see fans. I've been seeing people shade Louis saying he can't sell out MSG like Niall. And I'm here confident Louis can if he put it on his tour schedule and my simple reasoning is that if had fewer concerts around the NY area, it will encourage fans to make a trip to NY for a larger venue show like MSG, but I imagine you know the geography side and ticket buying habits more than me. What are your thoughts?

Oof okay so this is all just my own opinion so people can obviously disagree, but here’s the thing from my point of view. There’s so much more at play than just venue size and geography/demographics to fill it. The larger the venue, the more staff that will be required to put on the show from Louis’ end but also the venue’s end to accommodate the increase in numbers. That often translates to an increase in ticket prices to account for the higher numbers for Louis’ team and their own expenses as well as the cost the venue will pass on to him just to book it etc. something he’s been open about especially in this last round of promo was how he’s making a concerted effort to keep things affordable for the fans, at least as much as he possibly can manage to, and we have a lot of sources telling us that touring costs for the artists only continue to skyrocket (much like everything else right now). So if he chose to do fewer shows but tried to make up for that with larger venues, maybe even booking them for a couple nights to allow people better chances at seeing him there… well you’d basically end up with the residencies Harry did this past year in the US, wouldn’t you? And that was accessible for exactly……….. well. Not very many. Not to totally diss the residencies. As an artist, residencies are big deals and are much easier for them in a lot of ways! I understand the appeal for sure. But if accessibility is your biggest goal, that’s not going to be the way to achieve it.

So could he do that? Yeah absolutely and I’m some cases it would probably be for the best honestly. But he didn’t, at least not here, and I’m personally grateful for that.

So, now we have that lead in, if Louis were to adjust just a few shows and instead do a night at MSG, do I think he could sell it out? Uh, yes. Easily. Like, who the fuck is gonna stop us, right? Lol See, MSG is a special case and a scenario that is different from saying “why not condense the three Ohio shows in smaller amphitheaters to one larger centralized show in nationwide arena?” No one knows what nationwide arena is unless you’re super into Columbus hockey or have attended a previous show there lol it’s not a destination in and of itself or a dream venue anyone has on their list of places to play or attend a concert. For that you need a place like Red Rocks…….or MSG.

So imo announcing a show at MSG alone is going to bring more attention and make people a lot more willing to travel a much further distance than they usually would because… it’s Madison Square Garden. Even my phone knows to capitalize that lol but add to that the fact this is Louis and Louies are not exactly known for being chill or relaxed fans? I have exactly zero doubt that Louis could sell it out. We’d see a higher ticket price most likely due to the larger venue, but I doubt anyone would complain because they’d get the chance to witness Louis on stage in one of the most well known venues out there. That alone seems pretty damn worth it and I think most Louies would agree.

But for now I’m incredibly proud of the guy we all support going out there and doing his best to really get in an easy travel distance for most of the US population in ways almost no other artist has done in recent years all while trying to keep ticket prices at a reasonable level. We truly chose well when we named him our king haha

SCHEDULE UPDATE

SCHEDULE TYPE: ONE TIME GIG RESTRICTIONS: Only open to LGC GIRLS SUMMER, TYPE ZERO and V&A members

on SEPTEMBER 7, everyone from LGC GIRLS SUMMER, TYPE ZERO, and V&A are called to a meeting with KIM HYUNCHEOL. there is another staff member standing right next to hyuncheol and he lets the woman call out each individual’s name to hand them a packet containing all of the necessary information.

“i know all of you are busy with your own projects so i’ll do my best to make this as quick as possible. first thing is that i request all of you to open the folder and look through the first few pages.” hyuncheol explains while knowing that each group had their own set of schedules.

LGC GIRLS SUMMER

while the company continues to release more content about the show, it is noted that they will have to spend additional time working on their performances since all of them will be performing the following songs during this year’s family concert.

TIKI TAKA - BAEK HANNA, KOIZUMI TSUKI, LEE YEJIN, MIN SOYOUN, MOON SOMIN

BOOGIE UP - AHN JAEHWA, LEE HANBYUL, LEE MINJI, OH EUNHYE, SON NABI

ICY - GONG HYEJOO, HAN ALLIE, KIM MIA, PONGSAK ARINYA, SEO YURA

WE RIDE - GEUM DANBI, KYO MIYEON, SEO YUMI, YAMASHITA ICHIKA, YANG AERI

on SEPTEMBER 25, all of the girls except YUMI will be at the GOCHEOK SKY DOME early in the morning for rehearsals ( individuals who are participating in the special stages will be practicing there the day before as well ). during the concert, whenever the girls are not performing on stage, they will be in one of the backstage rooms watching the performances with the rest of the lgc girls summer.

TYPE ZERO AND V&A

( important note: because type zero and v&a’s missions aren’t due until SEPTEMBER 18, everything mentioned below is mostly to give everyone a sense of the timeline and ic reference. )

type zero will finish their music performances on the week of SEPTEMBER 12-18. during this time, they are required to continue practicing their title track song, “ONE (MONSTER & INFINITY)” along with “RESONANCE”, which they will practice with v&a. both type zero and v&a are also supposed to learn, practice, and record the following song, “GENIUS”, which will be one of their special stages for the LGC FAMILY CONCERT.

as for v&a, because their debut is coming soon, they will continue to practice all of their songs especially “HIGHER” ( VERSUS ), “BLUE HOUR” ( AGITO ), “RESONANCE” ( TYPE ZERO AND V&A ) since those will be the songs that they will perform in the lgc family concert. like type zero, they will be working on “GENIUS” ( SPECIAL STAGE ) as well. after the lgc family concert, v&a will release their songs on SEPTEMBER 27 and start their music promotions.

( ooc note: since the trimester change won’t be until october, please assume that v&a will be attending music shows for the next couple of days until the upcoming trimester update! )

for the LGC FAMILY CONCERT, the order of the songs will be:

HIGHER - V&A (VERSUS)

BLUE HOUR - V&A (AGITO)

ONE (MONSTER & INFINITY) - TYPE ZERO

RESONANCE - V&A AND TYPE ZERO

GENIUS - V&A AND TYPE ZERO ( SPECIAL STAGE )

during RESONANCE, there will be an introduction before the performance ( for a general idea, please refer to this video from 0:00-2:18 ). each member from type zero and v&a will form a circle and the camera will pan towards one individual at a time, followed by a line that connects the pair together. the sequence will be based on who joined legacy the latest to the earliest. for reference, that order will be:

HARU & SUBIN

ALEX & DAEYEOL

JIHO & YUSHIN

MINJUN ( NPC ) & YEONWOO

HANEUL & NATHAN

SHINHA & ISA

AKIRA & JAESUN

JAESUN will complete the order and the group will stand still as the instrumental is played. right after that, all of the lights will dim and it’ll transition to resonance playing.

during GENIUS, there will be photos and clips of the type zero and v&a members displayed on the screen for all of the fans to see. it’ll start off with their baby photos and gradually transition to their various appearances ( eg. variety shows, vlive shows, modeling gigs, etc. ) and behind the scenes ( eg. debut preparations ). at some point in the song, there will be a segment when the screen will switch to video messages and letters that were sent by their loved ones as a surprise to them. type zero and v&a members will be encouraged to turn around to look at them while singing the rest of the song.

on SEPTEMBER 25, all of the members will be at the GOCHEOK SKY DOME early in the morning for rehearsals ( individuals who are participating in the special stages will be practicing there the day before as well ). whenever one group/unit isn’t performing, they will be in one of the backstage rooms with the rest of v&a and type zero to watch the performances.

SPECIAL STAGES

before the meeting ends, the staff member calls AHN JAEHWA, AHN JAESUN, GEUM DANBI, GONG HYEJOO, JI HANEUL, KOIZUMI TSUKI, LEE YUSHIN, MIN SOYOUN, OH EUNHYE, OKAMOTO AKIRA, SEO YURA and tells them to stay in the meantime. the rest of them leave the meeting room along with hyuncheol, who has other matters to attend to.

“with the help of the coaches, we’ve selected all of you to be a part of our special stages. in the past, we usually had vocal, dance, and rap stages to showcase our artists and exceptionally talented trainees. this time around, because v&a and type zero will be our final performances, we’ve decided to include some of the lgc girls and trainees to be a part of these collaboration stages. with the way this concert is arranged, we’ve split the three stages based on the three recurring themes — past, present, and future.” the staff member regurgitates the information that was discussed with the other higher ups.

VOCAL STAGE ( AHN JAEHWA, GONG HYEJOO, JI HANEUL ): all of them will be performing “FALL AWAY” along with KANG WOOHEE, KIM HYUNBIN, and LEE SHINHAE. the vocal stage will be the first performance and during the PAST phase.

DANCE STAGE ( KYO MIYEON, MIN SOYOUN, SEO YURA ): all of them will be dancing to “CLOSER” along with KIM JAEHYUK, PARK HAEMI, and SEO HANEUL. the dance stage will be performed during the PRESENT phase.

RAP STAGE ( AHN JAESUN, GEUM DANBI, KOIZUMI TSUKI, LEE YUSHIN, OH EUNHYE, OKAMOTO AKIRA ): all of them will be performing “ALL IN” along with the original artist, YP. the rap stage will be performed during the FUTURE phase.

because the stages are co-ed, all of them will be participating separately in their groups ( so the girls will be practicing together while the type zero and v&a members will be practicing together ). it isn’t until FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 and SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 when they will be practicing all together ( including the senior artists ).

when the woman is done explaining all of the details to them, she gives them a warning that even though this is one of the few instances when legacy has allowed co-ed performances to happen, everyone is expected to be professional and follow the usual rules.

REQUIREMENTS

unlike our typical events, the requirements for this one will be done differently to give the muns a break from doing event threads. you are not required to make the threads related to the family concert ( preparations, rehearsals, etc. ), but if you choose to do that, please use the hashtag lgc:familycon2k21 for anything related to that topic. there are two ways to fulfill the writing requirements so choose ONE.

2 THREADS with two different partners ( they must be people that you have NOT had a thread with and can be anyone who belongs in LGC GIRLS SUMMER, TYPE ZERO, or V&A ). each thread should have 6 REPLIES ( 3 per mun; minimum 8 lines ) in total.

1 THREAD with one partner ( it can be someone that you HAVE interacted with before, but they must be in LGC GIRLS SUMMER, TYPE ZERO, or V&A and the thread has to be created sometime between today and the deadline ). the thread should have 12 REPLIES ( 6 per mun; minimum 8 lines ) in total.

7 Reasons Why I Quit

(only for a little bit)

It has, alas, been another few weeks since I posted. I have an excuse for my unpunctuality: I've been spinning non-stop like a top. The conclusion of the last Zoomester and the start of summer are to blame. I have seven partners in crime.

Culprit 1: Puppetry Workshop

Towards the end of the year, DTI (Design Thinking Initiative), in collaboration with the Theatre Shop, hosted an in-person puppetry workshop where a small number of people could participate per covid protocols. In-person events were few and far between this semester, so of course I rushed to sign up. The workshop ran for about 2 hours on three consecutive Mondays. We met in the theatre shop inside Mendenhall Center for Performing Arts.

The first day we made shadow puppets (and mine was a bee); the second day we made hand puppets (mine was a ... cyclop ghost king?); the third day we made marionette or string puppets (I attempted to make a teru teru bōzu, but everyone thought it a ghost). I had a lot of fun trying different fabrics, re-learning how to use a bandsaw, and magically joining things together with the help of a hot glue gun. (Side note: Polymer chemistry is the magician behind the scene, and I will be learning more about the science of hot glue guns in the polymer class I am taking next semester!) The workshop was surprisingly not as popular as I anticipated, maybe because people were busy as the semester came to a close. The good news is that DTI will be running the workshop again in the fall so more people will get to participate.

Culprit 2: Spring Piano Recital

I did not expect to attend a live concert this semester, but I was invited to the spring piano recital as a "special guest." It is a habit I developed while working as a concert crew at Sage, to sit outside the Sweeney Concert Hall and listen to the rehearsals after I finished setting up the stage. That day I was going to do homework outside the concert hall while waiting for my performing friend to finish. The piano instructor spotted me and asked me if I wanted to join. Disbelieving in my good luck, I accepted the invite. About ten students were scattered in the almost empty concert that felt sad and lonesome, but soon music filled the air. I thoroughly enjoyed every performance. Lots of Chopin were played, but my favorite one is Rhapsody in Blue which just entered the public domain this year. All pieces are about or more than a century old, which is not a surprise, but refreshingly, there is a piece by a female composer, Amy Beach, whose granduncle co-founded Bates College. Culprit 3: End of Classes

The end of classes was epitomized by professor-resembling pixels on our computer screens bidding us goodbye. Usually professors would plan something fun for the last day of classes, virtually as well.

I remember last semester my Multivariable Calculus professor changed his virtual background to a wall of donuts, explaining that during the pre-pandemic times he used to bring a box of donuts for students on the last day. This semester in Mathematical Methods for Physicists and Engineers, we explored the applications of Fourier Transform by looking at the velocity of a star and detecting the number of planets around it. Our last Circuit Theory lab was in person, where we got to listen to a song/piece of our own choice through the low pass filter and the high pass filter pictured below. The professor handed out prizes (cool items she accumulated in conferences) to students to reward them for their participation in the pre-class trivia games. I received a mini glow moon. In addition, our circuits professor left out end-of-class fun packs with origami papers and stickers outside her office. Our last Organic Chemistry lab was also in-person, where each lab group presented their experiments and findings (through a projector rather than Zoom screen share!) My presentation group decided to dress up for this special occasion after a long year of virtual school. Lastly, for Organic Chemistry, we played organic chemistry jeopardy in our last lecture.

With all the professors wishing you a happy summer, you start daydreaming about the sunny beach and breezy wind. Oh wait, you still have final exams to take. All in three days!

Culprit 4: Final Examinations

This semester we had a three-day final exam study period (or reading period) when professors are not allowed to assign any homework or set deadlines. Right after the reading period is our final exams. Smith is known for its flexibility when it comes to exams thanks to its Honor Code system. Many exams are self-scheduled. Some are open-notes, and some are untimed. In a normal year, students go to Seelye Hall to print out and take the exams when they feel prepared.

For the classes I am taking this semester, I had three hours to take my Math Methods final, a whole day to take the Circuits Theory final, and the entire finals period to take my Organic Chemistry I final. Besides the exams, I had several other writing assignments to turn in. I was very fatigued at the end of the semester, so even though I only had three exams, I struggled to muster up mental energy to study. To make things worse, I got my second Pfizer shot during the reading period and had a pretty bad reaction. As a result, I asked the class dean to give me an extension on an exam, which was generously granted, and I was gratefully less overwhelmed.

Culprit 5: SmithCycle

The finals are now over, but my vacation didn't start yet. I am staying on campus for a few extra weeks to work for SmithCycle. SmithCycle is a program that collects, sorts and redistributes gently used dorm items students donate in the move-out process at the end of each school year. It gives purpose to items of reusable value and creates a more sustainable campus. In the past week, we have collected hundreds of bags (no exaggerations!) of items. Besides clothes, books, school and dorm supplies, some of the unexpected items include coffee makers, brand new water filters, and a monitor. One of my coworkers commented that first-years shouldn't have to shop clothes hangers again while they were going through three boxes of donated hangers.

The winter clothes we collected are going to the International Students and Scholars Office. They have an event called Winter Clothes Closet every fall where international students "shop" for free to help them get accustomed to the New England weather. School supplies will be moved into the Common Goods Resources Center which CEEDS hopes to launch in Fall 2021 (very exciting!). I cannot plug SmithCycle enough. If you are an incoming first-year, visit the Common Goods Resources center before you head to Target!

I have always been interested in sustainability and renewable energy and want to get more involved. When I saw the SmithCycle worker position posted on Workday, I immediately applied. Every SmithCycle worker's job varies. I am mainly responsible for washing and drying the linens and blankets. When waiting for the washer and dryer, I help with unloading the van that circulates between houses to pick up bags of donations. I also help with sorting. Pictured below is the inside of Scott Gym where all the items are currently stored.

Culprit 7: Summer Housing

As college transitions into summer, students who are staying on campus for some part of the summer had to move out of their spring housing assignment into their summer housing. I moved from Chapin, the house in central campus, to Capen, which is on the periphery of Smith. I know Chapin and Capen sound alike, but they are very different houses location-wise and personality-wise! To make up for its distance to the academic buildings, Capen House has its own garden, Capen Garden. The garden a gorgeous place many current Smithies are missing out on. There is a mini fountain, hedges, a garden temple, a plant arch, and a bizarre owl statue. Look at the last picture of the garden in this blog, and you will agree with me that the Paradise Pond is overrated.

Built in 1825 and acquired by Smith in 1921, Capen House is named after Bessie Capen, the second woman to be admitted to MIT. She taught chemistry at Smith College. Fun fact: Bessie Capen was once the associate principal of the Mary A. Burnham School for Girls, now Stoneleigh-Burham School; I went there for horseback riding lessons during my first year at Smith. Small world, right?

Class 108's Apocalypse Field Trip | Chapter 1.

The world ended on a Tuesday. Quite suddenly, halfway through class. After the sky split open and green light bathed the earth, things changed. Some lived.

Some didn’t.

Class 108 stayed together, for the most part. They took up a base in the school, and boarded up the windows and doors.

Sydney was the one who first learned they didn’t need to eat. Other revelations of that sort followed. Sleep was not needed, nor was water. Air seemed to be, though, as they learned after Cal passed out from holding their breath.

The first one to die was Cú.

They don’t talk about Cú.

Of course, some things are unavoidable in the end. Logically, Sydney knew it was only a matter of time before something managed to slip under the cracks and they’d all get killed; god knows they’d narrowly scraped by enough times to be considered cosmically lucky. Tabitha had been spreading rumors, as was her nature, about the school itself being sentient, trapping them inside with false promises of safety.

On the worse days, Sydney believed it.

Sydney stepped into the classroom slowly, craning her head to where Tabitha and Rosie were explaining their theories. She didn’t know which theories, but she’d heard most of them by now.

“G’morning.” She said.

It was night.

No, she thought, the sky is dark, but that doesn’t mean it’s night.

Rosie gestures towards a desk, and she avoids the chair toppled over at her feet as she sits down on top of it. She takes not of who else had decided to attend this “session” of theirs today. There are 12 students left out of the thirty who had originally made up the class. Ten of them had disappeared after running away from the school in shock after the eye in the sky had first opened. They hadn’t been in homeroom during the “blink,” which is what they’d taken to call the eye opening, and hadn’t seen any teachers since that day.

She remembered it vividly.

Ms. Bruis had tensed, eyes wide in shock, before telling them to calm down and stay indoors. She immediately went outside the room to check on everyone else.

That was the last time they’d seen Ms. Bruis, but not the last time they’d seen her face.

Besides the initial chaos, there wasn’t anything attacking the school. It was just shouting and screaming and running. Sydney had stayed in the classroom, clumsily trying to close the blinds on the window.

People just, left. And they didn’t come back.

The first venture was when they lost Cú. She doesn’t like to talk about him, never mind think about him. Nonetheless, her mind often drifts towards his death.

It was about four hours after the chaos. People had been nearly sucked out of the building, teachers included. The only ones that remained were the thirty students of 108.

Sydney didn’t know why they were the only ones to remain. She still doesn’t now.

The students decided to have a short party go out and scout. Sydney, Katie, Cú, Tabitha and Rosie. Four survived, one did not.

Rosie was always the thinker of the group, and as such she took the front. Katie was chosen for her seemingly nonchalant disposition to going, and Tabitha for her mind, which was always going too fast and often arriving at far-out conclusions. Despite this, she was a quick-witted person and had been selected for her dexterity and speed. Cú was selected for his physicality. He was a teddy bear, but a strong teddy bear.

It didn’t save him in the end.

And Sydney, well, she was cautious. She wonders if she could’ve saved Cú if she’d been just a little bit wearier.

They wandered a few blocks before hearing the sound of skin and bone splitting. Tabitha immediately ran toward the sound, as was her nature. The rest, Rosie at the lead, followed, hiding behind a corner.

Katie didn’t make a face, but even she was visibly pale.

When the sound came again, louder, and a creature made of wet flesh and twisted muscle stepped out of the alleyway, she became practically white.

Sydney retched. She’s not ashamed to admit it, you would’ve too. Anyone would’ve retched if they saw that sight.

It got worse.

“Hello?! Someone! Help me, please!”

It was Ms. Bruis-no, it looked like Ms. Bruis.

Cú ran. He dodged the creature, running to Ms. Bruis and starting to try to pick her up off the ground, before he noticed she was rooted to the cement. His eyes widened as blood ran down her face

She smirked.

Sydney will always remember the flash of teeth before she plunged her hand-no, her claw-into his stomach. He made a choked sound before the creature bounded back over and ripped his jaw clean off.

They ran. They ran. They ran.

And then they came back to the classroom, and they wept.

There were more expeditions after that. They lost seven more after that, but in those ventures, they collected knowledge. This knowledge went on Rosie’s list, though it also doubled as a rulebook.

THE LIST

1. Some creatures can make copies of people you know in order to trick you. They don’t bleed, so your best shot at not meeting eyeball daddy up close is to yeet the fuck outta there//bold of you to assume I don’t want to meet eyeball daddy uwu//

2. Don’t trust meat. Ever. Meat comes alive. WE ARE VEGANS IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2018(?)

3. Don’t answer the door, even if you’re armed. No, Eric, we do not count your big muscles™ as a weapon.

4. If you MUST answer the door, don’t. You have been stopped.

5. A short section on the happenings of the places(?) known to us as “nightmares.”

Nightmares trap humans in these crazy places. We’ve only seen two, but they are extremely dangerous, and both encounters ended in casualties. They trap your mind and make you experience terrible things, and like the rest of the world (to our knowledge at least) don’t follow normal time or space rules. Basically, if you want to avoid a ,’ , |,’_’, you should not screw with that shit.

6. Always check with someone else before eating or drinking. Sometimes, your mind will play tricks on you and you won’t notice that you’re eating something…not good. Honor cal for their sacrifice regarding this matter (sorry cal)

7. Always shut the blinds. Eyeball daddy is watching you//YOU DID NOT NEED TO SAY THAT TABITHA

8. Don’t leave the building without consulting all of class 108.

9. Don’t read books that others haven’t read first, especially if it says it’s from the library of Jurgen LeitnerSTUPID IDIOT MOTHERFUCKING JURGEN LEITENER GOD DAMN FOOL BOOK COLLECTING DUST EATING RAT OLD BASTARD SHITHEAD IDIO//yes, Riko, we get it, but good point. Be Jared, 19.

10. Don’t invite anyone in.

“What are we on today?” Sydney asked.

“Tabitha’s on about the categories again.” Cal said.

“I really think it could work!” she said loudly. “Look, there’s consistencies in every single encounter we’ve had. Think about it. Remember what happened at the theater?”

Katie grimaced silently. “How could we forget?”

Tabitha ignored her. “The webs. Spiders and the rest of those insects are different categories. The wriggly silver worms are more like, bugs and wriggly things and judging from the infestation we had they all work together.”

“Like a hive?” Cal asked.

Tabitha nodded. “Exactly like that. Spiders are different though; you saw how many were crawling about during the amphitheater incident. And that whole thing was about control. All those people who were laughing…they, they were there. They didn’t want to do it! They didn’t want to laugh, you saw their eyes. They were being controlled. And when,” she paused, gritting her teeth, “and when Marcy died she was being controlled too. Puppeted.”

That’s two. Then we come to the next one, guns and murder and war and shit like that. Simple enough. But I think it has to be humans killing humans, because the thing that killed, killed Cú wasn’t like that. It was, it was different. I don’t know. I’ll get back to that.

“Then we have the cover up, or the anonymous things. Things like those little creatures that hide in your plates that you can’t notice are there until someone tells you. That’s why I’m confused, because I think the weird fleshy creature we faced was aligned with that but also with those meat things that broke Rosie’s leg. I don’t know how to explain it, but, ah. Sorry. I think they’re the same category.”

“I’ll humor you; can a thing be two categories?” Katie questioned her dully.

“I think so. Maybe it’s like colors? Really angry colors. They’re all separate, but the same because they’re all made of the same stuff. And they all blur together sometimes?”

“Yeah,” Katie snorted, “we’re being killed by really angry colors.”

Tabitha flushed. “Hey! It was just an analogy.”

Rosie seemed to be considering what Tabitha had said, before she looked up. “I believe you.”

“Y-you do?” Tabitha blinked, taken back.

Rosie nodded. “It makes sense. Really angry colors.”

“Really angry colors.”

A few hours-well, time was weird, but Sydney supposed it was hours-later, the class was doing yoga. Well, not “yoga” per se. They were beating each other on the head with torn up yoga mats.

“Hey!” Riko shouted as Tabitha tripped over her mat while chasing Cal. “Watch it! This is where I sleep!”

Tabitha stuck her tongue out and Katie snorted, not looking up from her book. Sydney wondered how she did that; Katie always seemed to have an astounding amount of situational awareness at all times.

“Real mature.” Katie groused.

Tabitha grinned, and Rosie smiled softly.

“I’M GOING TO MAKE YOU MEET EYEBALL DADDY!” she shouted to Cal, who’s eyes widened in mock fear.

“Oh no! The horror! OwO!” They said dramatically.

“Did they just say “OwO”?” Sydney asked in a deadpan. Rosie nodded solemnly.

“You ever wonder…” Sydney trailed off, the muffled shouting of their peers drowned out into the background.

“Wonder what?” Rosie tilted her head in question.

“What happened to Mr. Sims.”

“He’s probably…not with us anymore.”

“Yeah. Still, could you imagine? He was a bloody cryptid. He’d probably take all this with no sweat.”

“Maybe he’d give us concerts too.”

“Good ole Jonny D’Ville.”

Rosie snickered.

“You know how he always drew eyes everywhere? During tests?”

“Oh god, don’t mention that to Tabitha, I don’t need her going on about another conspiracy.”

Sydney grinned to herself and Rosie groaned.

“Well, I was thinking, maybe it was an omen.”

“An omen?”

“Yeah. I’ve never been spiritual really, but the worlds gone to shit so who knows what’s real. Maybe the Mayans were just a few days off.”

“Ah, the apocalypse calendar.”

“Indeed.”

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

A noise rang out from the entrance to the school, loud and imposing. Sydney’s heart started to thump wildly in terror.

They all shot up, and Katie got her switchblade out from her pocket. She was lucky enough to have it on her at the blink, and it was their best weapon.

Cypress shot inside the classroom silently, eyes wide, red curls bouncing. He clicked the door shut quietly, pale. “The others sent me. They’re hiding in place. I think we should just stay put.”

Rosie nodded, gesturing him to come over. She placed a finger over her lips in order to get them to stay silent, then nodded to Katie. Katie had always been gifted with really good hearing, and it had saved their assess more than enough times for Rosie to know that letting her try to hear who was at the door was the best safe bet for situation and the time being.

Katie closed her eyes, but after a quarter of a minute shook her head.

That’s when they heard it.

“Hello!”

Sydney brought a hand to her mouth to clamp down a scream.

It was Cypress.

Eyes wide, she glanced over to Cypress, her Cypress, who’s expression was now glazed over. Was his skin always that waxy? Why was his hair so smooth? It looked like that of a dolls, curls made of softly bent plastic.

Katie saw the flicker of light before she saw the blade, and she lunged.

Her switchblade pierced his skin-no, his stuffing, with a sound akin to ripping a toy. It didn’t seem to stop this not-Cypress.

Oh god, Sydney thought, today is the day I die.

There was a sound like static now in the air, and the faint smell of burning. Sydney began to feel sick, almost lightheaded.

The door swung open, and Sydney whipped her head around to see Cypress, who was trailed by…Mr. Sims?

Investments and money

For young college students and finances, focus on 2 core activities:

1. Minimize student debt and spending: This is your main focus because you’re not going to get rich while in college, you need to focus all your energy on reducing your spending and getting the grades, experience, and relationships to be successful in your career after graduation. This means applying for scholarships, grants, work-study and financial aid aggressively and in a timely manner. Academic performance is a requirement for financial aid so pay attention in class, keep your grades up, and be proactive in searching for funding sources.

For reference, I attended a top 4-year university in America (a country that has notoriously expensive higher education) without any financial support from my parents-- at all-- $0-- zilch-- nada-- null-- cero-- they paid for nothing. I strategically managed my finances to the point I actually made money going to college from the abundance of financial aid I received and my lack of spending. I didn’t sacrifice any of my college experience doing it either. This is how I did it:

Attended 2 years of community college before transferring to a 4-year university. 1 year of tuition and room and board is approximately $40,000 at my undergraduate university so this move saved me approximately $80,000. My degree only says my university name and there’s no mention of community college.

Applied for 200+ scholarships every year writing simple essays and doing quick interviews. It only takes a few minutes of work to get hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in free money. Don’t be lazy in this regard-- hustle. The multiple small scholarships here and there added up to tens of thousands of dollars so much that I made $4000 per quarter in excess financial aid that I saved for graduate school.

Worked an on-campus job (work-study) which is basically free money. I answered phones, worked on-campus events, and did administrative tasks a few hours per week while being able to study for my classes and run my online business (see below).

Ran a small online business selling video game memorabilia. I used my work-study money and subsidized loans to buy products from eBay and sell to customers on Amazon or Craigslist. I netted $1000-$2500 per month in profit. Look for going out of business sales, unicorn deals online, seasonal sales, and clearance items in stores. Buying and reselling products is relatively low effort if you can snag deals on the internet or at local stores, then sell the products for a quick profit. I paid back the subsidized loans before graduation using the profit from this business to avoid accumulating any interest.

Attended large group outings to socialize instead of 1 on 1 meetings. It’s better to spend $10 one time hanging out with 10 people together than to spend $10 ten times hanging out with people separately. This made socialization cheaper because I could split the cost of food and transportation with my friends without sacrificing my social life and without spending a ton of money I didn’t have. Everything from attending free on-campus concerts, going on trips to the beach nearby, or having movie nights where we could split the cost of pizza and drinks while still having a good time made college just as memorable and meaningful without breaking the bank. You don’t need to be jetting to Bora Bora during Spring Break to make friends or memories.

2. Maximize post-graduate income: Do your research on your post-graduate career years before graduating and avoid making the top 3 job hunting mistakes. Don’t play around with debt, if you need the fear of God put in you about debt, then check out Dave Ramsey’s show where he counsels people in financial holes. This is critical to paying down any student loans quickly and starting your adult life in the best financial shape possible. You need to recruit for your career well during your college years-- I cannot stress this enough.

Answering Eagles questions before the season 3 finale (Part 1/2)

I've received a bunch of questions since 3x08 and 3x09 dropped, so I compiled all the questions into two posts. I had to split them up because Tumblr only allows 10 images per post. Anyway, keep reading to see my answers and enjoy! 👇

My theory is that everybody will be gathered together for some event and then shit goes down. Sort of like the ending of 1x08.

We've seen an image of Adam, Omar, and Ludde together at a party of some sort. I can't post it here because of Tumblr only allowing ten pictures, but you can find it in Ludde's prediction post that I made prior to the season 3 premiere.

Felicia might be absent from this considering how her mental health has been recently, and instead opting to stay at home rather than attending a party.

I have my suspicions that Elias will be attending this party, though. We saw him at some concert in the season 3 trailer and they made it look like he was watching Amie singing in Stockholm. But maybe Amie will be performing at this party and Elias is watching her here instead?

It seems like Amie singing at the end of the season has become kind of a recurring theme. She performed "Follow" in 1x08 and "Second Sight" in 2x10 (on the radio, but my point still stands). I wouldn't be surprised if they followed this trend by having Amie perform a new song in the season 3 finale.

Maybe Elias approaches her after the performance to express how good she is. He hasn't really seen her do a live performance since 1x08, where she still hadn't really come out of her shell. They've also grown a lot closer this season. Perhaps Elias even has something more to tell her?

I can't help but feel like this party will end on a bad note, though. We have that whole thing with Andreas potentially buying a gun or whatever he's up to (discussed this more in another question down below).

I have a feeling this party is going to get interrupted in some way and that the season is going to end on a major cliffhanger.

I don't even know what they'll do with Ludde and Felicia. Ludde has no idea what happened to Felicia in these last two episodes, and I hope they'll have a conversation just to clear the air surrounding the whole press situation. Ludde still loves her even if he broke things off, and I would really like to see him reassure Felicia that the blame lies with Jack and not her. I don't think they will get back together and repeat what 2x10 did since the drama is still so fresh. Felicia shouldn't really get into a relationship right now, either.

I'm unsure about Klara. I feel like she's mostly done her part this season, but maybe things aren't completely finished between her and Elias. Maybe there were some things left unsaid on Klara's part when she met with Elias at the café, and Elias never really confirmed where he was at.

This talk regarding their relationship (and Eagles?) might happen in the season finale. I'm leaning towards them ending it for good since I doubt they will be getting back together. However, I'm pretty sure that it will be on good terms now after everything Klara did for Felicia.

I somewhat agree with this, even if it was worded a little harshly. Felicia shouldn't have been so quick to share the most personal thing that had ever happened to her on her first date with a guy she had just met. And she shouldn't have done the same thing with Jack, even if it was someone she'd known for longer.

I think she should've at least waited a while to see if the person she told her secrets to was trustworthy—sort of like Ludde did when he told Felicia the truth about how Andreas landed in prison. That's a huge secret and it made more sense to have it be shared closer to the end of the first season rather in the first three episodes.

On the other hand, I can definitely understand why she was so quick to share her problems. Felicia was really lonely when she first came to Oskarshamn. Her parents were fighting all the time, and her dad was only focused on Elias' hockey career. She carried these huge traumatic events and had nobody really supporting her when she ended up at the hospital and was sent to rehab. Felicia couldn't share the secret about her dad's affair either. She really had nobody in her life that she could talk to about any of this.

So it's reasonable that when she finally met a person who she really connected with, she felt comfortable enough to finally share these burdens she had been carrying. She actually started out by saying this to Ludde in 1x03:

I don’t know why I’m telling you this. I don’t talk about it to people.

I don't think Felicia set out to tell her whole backstory to Ludde. It just happened. I'm not saying it was the right choice, but Felicia probably realized that she desperately needed someone to talk to. And she said herself that it felt really good to just get these secrets out (until it didn't when she thought Ludde had spilled the beans to Klara). Felicia even made sure to stress to Ludde that he couldn't tell anybody about her experiences in the US.

Felicia: I don’t want this to come out, that’s really important. Ludde: Of course, I’d never tell.

A similar situation arose with Jack. Felicia was more isolated than ever and she had aborted a child that nobody knew about—not even her mom. That's a huge secret to carry on your own.

Felicia had known Jack since she was a child. She trusted him and he was a family friend. Not only that, but Jack has the ability to be incredibly charming when he wants to be. If anything, it makes more sense that Felicia told her personal things to Jack rather than to Ludde. She couldn't predict that Jack would turn out to be a cheating asshole who would leak everything in the press. It's kind of sad that Felicia would have to constantly keep quiet about all the wounds she's carrying when support from the people around her is the thing she needs and craves.

I've never said that the Kroon family's reaction to them being slandered in the press wasn't valid. I actually understood their anger and frustration quite well, but they let their emotions get the better of them. Yelling at Felicia did nothing to help the situation even though it's fair that they would direct their anger at the person who was to blame in that situation.

It wasn't pretty, and ganging up on Felicia (when her personal business had also been leaked) wasn't the best way to deal with the situation. But because their privacy was violated, I understand it. I can agree with you on that part.

It just sounds like you're implying that Felicia isn't allowed to share personal stuff at all because it would be "gifting ammo to expose her family". If Jack had actually been a decent person and never ruined her family's reputation in the press, you wouldn't be as harsh on her. The situation just got blown out of proportion for everybody.

Put these questions together since they were sort of asking the same thing regarding the last scene of 3x09. Here is the full transcript from that scene if anybody needs a reminder:

Man: Hey. Andreas: Hello. Man: Wasn’t yesterday. Welcome to the outside. Andreas: Thanks. Hey… The last time I saw you, you said you knew somebody who sells. Man: Are you thinking of a fully automatic? Andreas: Yeah, whatever. Man: There’s a guy in Stockholm. I’ll fix it. I’ll send you the number. Just tell him I sent you. Andreas: Alright, good. Got it. Man: Good. Good, see you. Andreas: See you.

It actually didn't click for me at all when I first saw this scene that Andreas could've been talking about buying a gun—my first thought was actually that he was talking about a car because I'm that stupid lmao.

Anyway, there is definitely potential for the season to end on a cliffhanger involving a gun and Andreas. I have a few theories on what the season could end like. Season 3 has been so much darker than previous seasons, so while this might feel too serious for a show like Eagles it's definitely not out of the question after the recent episodes. Anyway, here's what I think could happen.

1. The season ends with Andreas having the gun—but we don't know if he'll actually use it 2. The season ends with Andreas just about to shoot someone—but we don't know who (?) 3. The season ends with Andreas having just shot someone—but we don't know who (?)

I don't know which one of these theories I'm leaning more towards, but I really hope this won't be the outcome for Andreas. He just spent close to a year in prison for something he didn't even do. Andreas is not a criminal, and it would be disappointing if he actually ended up doing this. They could be throwing us for a loop.

I mean, personally I don't think shooting somebody because they were the reason my younger brother didn't get into his dream school is enough reason to risk ending up in prison for. Yes, Ludde got his reputation ruined, but there are other ways to solve that than to resort to crime. Andreas should know that too, considering the whole thing where he got landed in jail because he tried to protect Ludde.

This could absolutely be the case but at the same time I'm a little unsure. Hopefully things will just go up from here since the last two episodes were so dark, but I'm unsure what that last scene in 3x09 will mean for the season finale.

I hope they will do something similar to 2x10, where the ending was more bittersweet than just sour. We had the moment with Elias finally being drafted to the US and then Felicia and Ludde finally getting back together. We saw Amie achieve her dreams as a pop star. And yet there were still sour tones with us seeing Klara's dad passing away, Ludde being brought to the police station, and Amie being entirely alone and heartbroken.

2x10 was a really good episode and the ending montage gave me goosebumps the first time I saw it. I think ending a season like that, with both positives and negatives, hits you more emotionally rather than just ending on one or the other. The 1x08 season finale was really depressing and while the cliffhanger was intriguing, it didn't hit as hard for me as 2x10.

I'm kind of curious if they'll be able to top that episode—it's definitely among my personal favorites.

My stance is that if Elias and Amie won't happen in 3x10, they will be guaranteed to happen in season 4. There is no way they're passing that opportunity up. They have clear chemistry, are fan favorites, and it absolutely makes sense for them to get together considering where they're at in their journeys—both having realized their dreams but then coming back to Oskarshamn because it didn't turn out the way they thought it would.

I think they have a mutual understanding of each other—in season 3 more than ever—and it would definitely be a shame if their potential was wasted. So I can't see the writer(s) passing up that opportunity.

There is a possibility for Elias to make a move in the season 3 finale, but I think it's better to keep our expectations low. We just had Felicia go through something really traumatic and her whole family is dealing with the ramifications of Jack slandering them in the media. Elias's relationship with Amie might have to take a backseat because of that.

There's also the thing where we thought that Petra might forbid Amie from seeing Elias because the newspapers painted him as a sex addict. But I think Petra and Amie have reached an understanding in their relationship after the whole Michael thing, and I can see Petra taking Amie's word when saying that Elias isn't what the press makes him out to be—and that he's not like his father.

I really do want to see something happen between them in the season finale, though. I'm excited but impatient for Elias and Amie and I think there are many fans who feel the same way.

But there is a reason they've been so slow to develop their relationship. Elias and Amie have grown as people separately and they're at a point where I believe they're more compatible than they ever were previously. They've been building their character development, slowly but surely, and I like that they haven't been rushed together like Felicia and Ludde were.

If nothing happens between them in season 3, don't lose hope. I think season 4 will absolutely be Elias and Amie's season.

I hope so. I hope Petra isn't listening to the tabloids and tries to see what's in front of her instead, which is that Elias is not Mats.

Elias is entirely his own person. I know Petra was heartbroken when Mats left her after getting drafted, but when Elias was put into this exact situation he hesitated because he didn't want to leave Klara alone.

Klara: Elias… I don’t understand why you’re even thinking about this. Of course you’re going [to the US]. You’ve always wanted this. Right? Elias: But I don’t want to leave you.

Petra doesn't know about this, but we as the audience do. Elias's actions have always been caring and supportive (and I'm not just saying this because Elias has always been my favorite character). It should only be a matter of time until Petra realizes that, if she just gave him a chance.

I think that Petra will eventually see that Amie has finally found someone special who makes her happy. That Elias isn't at all like how Mats was at his age, or like Michael who didn't even bother to support her.

Petra has been so unlucky in love and I hope she can see through her prejudices and let her daughter be happy and loved, in the way that Petra never really got to be.

It could happen, but even if it does I don't think they will be separated for most of season 4.

Maybe Amie decides to finally take charge of her career and tells the record label that she's doing this her way or not at all. Maybe she even decides to quit to try a music career on her own terms, or with a different label that doesn't make her as successful but doesn't control her.

I never felt like the particular record label Amie ended up with was a great fit for her. Yes, she's very talented and I would love to see her become an even bigger star, but only if it's done the way Amie wants it to be done. There could be the possibility of Amie leaving the label, just like how Elias left the US.

I definitely think Felicia has picked up on Elias overworking himself. He's been at the gym constantly, even during the school field trip to Stockholm. Elias left this huge opportunity in the US to come back to Eagles, and the overworking could be a result of him feeling like he has to prove to both himself and the people around him that this decision was the right one.

They've been super subtle about this whole thing and I hope they will be discussing it properly soon instead of just giving us small snippets. There was discussion about this being an eating disorder, but I think it's leaning more towards overworking like you said and bad eating habits (in my opinion, we would need to see something more drastic before drawing the conclusion that Elias might have an eating disorder).

There's so much that needs to be brought up in the season 3 finale—like what exactly Andreas is planning and its outcome, Felicia healing after her suicide attempt and potentially having a conversation with Ludde, and maybe some sort of triangle drama between Elias and if he'll choose Klara or Amie. There are so many possibilities here that I have my suspicions that this storyline won't be fully resolved in just one episode.

I think it will be pushed forward into season 4 because that seems to make the most sense right now. I've been wrong before though, so something else could definitely happen.

Those of us who started early didn’t have much or even nothing at all (not even Spotify!). We, the fans, had to support each other building up the fandom into what it is today from scratch. The only advantage the earlier fans had was the fact that the band members had public Twitter/Instagram accounts back then.

How popular is MFS in Japan?

Hmm... interesting.

I met a Japanese guy who looked like he was in his late 20s in Sept 2019 at a hostel in Fukuoka . Upon knowing that I was there to see MY FIRST STORY, he said, “Sugoii!! They’re very popular you know.”

I was a bit astonished to hear it as I assumed MFS was not known much, “Really 😮?? I'm not Japanese. So, I don’t know if they’re popular here or not.”

“Yes, they’re very popular,” he said in an affirming manner, smiling 😀.

Our conversation ventured on to ONE OK ROCK after that though 😅. It’s like a given that anyone who knows MFS would know who OOR is. We ended up watching OOR videos on YouTube together with his friend and another traveller in the hostel common area.

Looks like MFS is known just enough but .....🤔

They’re NOT YET at a point where people of any walk of life you meet in Japan would know them like they do with OOR. Hiro’s brother Taka’s face was practically plastered on billboards all over for Honda in 2019.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that OOR is moving up bit by bit towards the level of super Senpai like HYDE and L’arc en Ciel sooner or later. I’m not talking musically or artistically. I’m talking about the level of being known by the general public in their country.

I would say that MFS is still mostly only known by the teens and the 20-somethings which is their main market. But once you reach the point where babies and 80-year-old grandmas also know who you are, then you have reached the golden plateau. Which is why MFS is actively trying to expand their fanbase by collaborating with many different artists.

It's a big blessing too that MFS leader Sho Tsuchiya is a songwriter/producer behind the scene and this opens lots of doors for them to get song projects. Getting that King & Ashley theme song on Netflix is important for the band's “brand awareness".

* Personally though I feel that Hiro's status as a Moriuchi is what has been garnering attention from the media. Especially now that Hiro is more open with talking about his family in public. But hey, it's still publicity for MFS indirectly 😄

By Indie artists’ standard, MFS is secure. However...

MFS wants to be an arena selling band and later on the Dome. They want more than being secure at ZEPP Hall level (can easily sell out 2.5K~3K pax per Hall) and the Budokan (10K~12K pax no problem). However I can’t close my eyes to the fact that they didn’t quite fill up Saitama Super Arena. My analysis of that situation here.

I personally feel their target planning is a bit too tight in timing:

Nippon Budokan (2016 ~ 12K pax)

Makuhari Messe (2017 ~ 18K pax)

Yokohama Arena (early 2019 ~ 18K pax)

Saitama Super Arena (late 2019 ~ 18K pax)

Tokyo Dome (planned for 2021 ~ can they reach >18K pax?)

Being Indie means they don’t quite have the budget or networking power for the marketing machines that big labels have. Add to that, the entire Live entertainment industry around the world is being financially crippled by a deadly pandemic.

The Corona virus situation unfortunately came at the most crucial time for MFS to build the momentum for the Tokyo Dome show 😖. I do hope they will continue using their digital platforms wisely and strategically. Learn the algorithms and stuff.

Can MFS do the Tokyo Dome by 2021?

JUNE 2020 DIMENSIONS ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULES & REVIEW

OVERALL COMPANY

CEO Choi had little say in the cross-company retreat this year and won’t be attending, much like the other company executives. Instead, Choi Dongwook suggested the venue after noticing how overworked Dimensions idols have been recently (or, rather, how the public has noticed how overworked all three companies’ idols have been). Still, even Dongwook is aware the retreat serves more as a bandaid on a bigger problem and good publicity than anything else.

Word from the higher-ups is that they’d like to have her begin working on her next comeback next month, but for this month, she has the job of promoting herself by heading to New York from June 12 to June 14 (and will take back the same plane back as Dimensions Soloist 2) to performing at this year’s KCON alongside label mate Lucid and soloists from both BC and Gold Star.

This month, Dimensions will be publicly announce an upcoming Seoul concert for him and open up ticketing, but he won’t begin intensive rehearsals for it until next month.

Though promotions are over, she’ll continue filming her OnStyle reality show at the beginning of the month. This month, a day has been scheduled for her to be filmed going about her “everyday life” at home with visits from some friends (admin note: these may be other muses or NPCs, but must be female friends) and filming will end with them making a meal together. The aim is to show her in a personable light. After that filming is done, she’ll be granted a one week vacation from June 11 to June 17 (where she’ll be permitted to travel out of the country if she’d like) as a reward for the success of her debut.

GAL.ACTIC

A successful past few months of performing hasn’t gone unnoticed by brands and though Gal.actic is still considered a risky choice for some due to their history of controversies, they’ve been offered a new contract with denim brand GetUsed that Dimensions has been happy to accept on their behalf. As the new ambassadors, they’re scheduled to film a CF this month, where they’ll show off the brand’s jeans while teaching both the “B.B.B” point choreography along with the point choreography for one of their older songs, “Wiggle Wiggle”.

ALIEN

The release of their latest English single preludes a performance at KCon New York later in the month. They won’t actually be performing any of their English singles, in an arguably questionable move by Dimensions’ marketing team, but it is part of the continued push for them in the American market. The rest of the month, the members will be learning and perfect the stage choreography for “Follow” and “Find You” for their upcoming comeback, along with filming the M/V (admin note: Hyungwon’s role will be played by the main vocal, car crash tw) for their pre-release single “Find You” and shooting the photo book.

June 5: Release of Someone’s Someone.

June 13: Performance at KCON NY at the Javits Center in New York, NY, USA (also performing: Knight, Dimensions Soloist 2, 7ROPHY, and Gold Star Soloist 2).

MARS

"Take Me Higher” is doing well on the charts as one of the stronger boy group releases of the year, even if a certain subset of fans are asking for a return to form with something darker and more theatrical. Their schedule for June is mostly music shows, but they will be filming a variety appearance in the form of Pops In Seoul early in the month where they’ll do self-introductions and show off their in-group dynamics.

Important dates:

June 4: Pops In Seoul appearance filming.

June 14: End of music show promotions.

7ROPHY

"No” gets the group two music show wins but not any notable chart success, which makes it all the more important when they’re called into a meeting on June 15 after returning from their trip to New York for KCon from June 11 to June 14 and after filming a short package where Aria visits them at the Dimensions’ building to help them with a cover performance of “Mr. Chu” they’ll be doing as a special stage. The meeting is a filmed one at the company headquarters to officially confirm with them that they’ll be appearing on a new MNet competition show called Queendom where they’ll compete against five other female idol acts. During the meeting, they’ll be informed one by one that they’re competing with Lipstick, Aria, two NPC senior groups, and one NPC senior soloist and their reactions will be filmed. The show will begin airing in late August, but they must begin preparing a brief introduction stage (admin note: Soyeon’s rap will not be included because 7ROPHY has yet to release Uh Oh), which they will go to the MNet studio to film on June 29. While they are there, they will be interviewed and asked what they want to show through their performances and will be heavily pushed towards answers that push the story line MNet has planned for them: proving themselves despite being the most junior artists of the bunch.

While three of their members are in LA with CHAMPION, the other Unity members will have a little more free time to do as they please, though it’s not an official vacation of any sort where they can leave the country like they had last month. Once the members return, the group will get to work on learning and practicing the choreography for “Kick It” and “Prelude” (an instrumental track that will be included on the repackage) for their approaching comeback. The group also has a photo shoot and interview for the summer issue of DiCon Magaze, which they’ll be on the cover of.

June 13: DiCon Magazine summer issue photo shoot and interview.

↳ CHAMPION

All members of the sub-unit will fly out to Los Angeles on June 3 and will stay in Los Angeles through June 10. They’ll be filmed during their time in Los Angeles for a reality show that will be released called CHAMPION The Beginning. During their weeklong stay, they’ll be staying in a house in Beverly Hills instead of a hotel in order to encourage more bonding between the sub-unit members. Their rooms will be assigned by random draw and will end up as follows:

Room One: Main rapper/lead dancer/vocal (Unity)

Room Two: Main dancer/vocal/rapper (Knight) & Main vocal (Knight)

Room Three: Main dancer/lead vocal (Decipher)

Room Four: Main dancer/rapper/vocal (Unity) & Lead rapper/vocal (Unity)

On June 5, the night before their debut showcase, the members will be treated to a special dinner made by private chefs paid for by BC and Dimensions. When they return to Korea on the morning of June 11, they’ll begin their promotions on Korean music shows, which is when they’ll fall into a more normal promotional routine.

This month, the members not only have to be in the studio to record their first full-length album (which will signal a return to the power innocence concept, though they’ve left the school trilogy behind), but they also have to prepare for their upcoming concert tour which will take place before their next comeback. Lucid will embark on two separate tours before the end of the year ⁠— one solely themed after the music and concepts of their nightmare realm concept and another solely themed after the music and concepts of their regular realm concept. It’s a cash grab disguised as dedication to the concept, but fans are already eating the idea up. First up is the nightmare realm concert, for which they’ll prepare several covers for the tour, including a dance cover of Imagine Dragons’ “Believer”, a dance and vocal cover of “Regret of The Times”, and a revisit of their pre-debut “Lucky Strike” cover, and as well as the following duo or solo covers assigned by the company:

Dimensions Soloist 3′s “I” (lead vocal & maknae/vocal)

“Trouble Maker” (leader/lead vocal/lead dancer & maknae/vocal)

“Move” (main dancer/vocal/rapper & main rapper/vocal)

Among recording a rehearsals, the members will also be attending KCon in New York and filming a special clip of their “Regret of The Times” cover which will be released at the end of the month before they ever perform it in concert.

A Love Story in 3 parts.

Disclaimer : Everything is fake. Or is it? 👀

Why the month of June is always very interesting. basically an excuse to try making a timeline of 1 month spanning three years before I attempt to do the 2017-2020 timeline. the keyword there is ATTEMPT.

﹌﹌Part I: June 2018 ﹌﹌

This is a popular guess on the month that they actually got together— as far as acknowledging that they’re NOT bros. Keep in mind that these two supposedly first met on 3/14/2017 with no interactions or even eye contact ( as per Web). After that, they meet again 4/2018 as CQL started shooting.

That’s two months of interaction. We have different timelines in our head with them, so you can interpret this as A.) they hit it off really quickly that’s why it only took a little time for their feelings to go THERE. B.) they are lying liars who lie and have been in contact from 2017-2018.

• 6.2.2018 - Shooting of LWJ and WWX in the rain. • 6.3.2018 - Produce 101 Performance! Yes, the same one where GG was a mentor and they acted like they didn’t know each other. Famous for moments such as:

Glancing at each other even if separated by people. + Sharing an earpiece. GG smiling while watching Web Dance.

• 6.3.2018 - TTXS episode airing where Web gives love clues, where he says it depends on how he feels. Also that when he’s 40, he wants a kid and a dog.

�� { VERY IMPORTANT DATE} 6.18.2018 is when they shot this scene. GG is looking all wet, with mud on his face but Web just says he still looks handsome with no make up on. Also, CAN WE TAKE A SECOND AND WEEP at how GG looks at Web here. His eyes. Wow. He clearly adores Web at this point.

• They also shot WWX handing Zongzi to LWJ.

• Later that day, they ate together. They were photographed by paps who thought Web was going out with a girl. The produced and director of CQL was also there.

• GG then posted this on Weibo on 20:18 “love you yibo” as a greeting for the Festival. Web took the picture, according to me. I’m the curtain.

• 6.19.2018 - The next day, Web is photographed at the airport with the same clothes. This is also the first appearance of his white Nike Bag. He had to go and film an episode of Happy Camp.

• 6.22.2018 - a supposedly important day too as they cued 622 a couple of times. This is a good read on that.

• 6.25.2019 - They both posted on their Weibo about their joint Bazaar Magazine cover. This was re-released and became bazaar’s #1 e-magazine issue.

• 6.27.2019 - They both post about the premiere of CQL! 💚❤️

• 6.28.2019 - Web posts himself as LWJ, saying rabbits are cute.

• 6.30.2019 - Web attends Yuehua annual party as Spiderman (into the spider verse).

﹌﹌ Part III: June 2020 ﹌﹌

• 6.5.20 - GG posts after a long time of silence with a picture of blue sky. Captioning it with : “Blue skies and white clouds, what do you see?” more on the significance of blue sky and white clouds with BYX here. • 6.9.20 - XZ studio posts a video about GG’s daily life, giving us a glimpse of what he was doing. • 6.12.20 - We finally get a selfie from GG! He mentions on his caption that his hair is getting long. There is a CPN on this that the shirt he is wearing is a couple shirt from trasher which matches Web’s. Also, as people match the scenery posts on this, it matches with Web’s filming locations.

• 6.13.20 - GG Douyin update, making orange juice like a pro. CPN on this is that the place he is filming at is pretty similar to Web’s house. But let’s not go there.

• 6.18.20 - Another artwork post from GG.

• 6.20.20 - Himalaya releases a CF for their new endorser, Wang Yibis. THIS CF ANS EVERYTHING ABOUT IT KILLED US. Starting with Web’s post, “Some words, even if I don’t say it, u guys will know. This is our tacit understanding. Love is like this. Accompanying everyday.”

• 6.21.20 - Web video doing an Ollie (skateboard trick). People were speculating where he actually is on this one. most probably just him enjoying his down time and probably Lele taking that video. • 6.25.20 - GG posts an artwork of zongzi along with an actual one for dragon boat festival. People have analyzed the little drawings and noted one looks like him & the other as Web.

• AND FINALLY, this year’s Dragon Boat Festival gave way to the crazy fake rumor of them getting “engaged” + buying a house and car. When this came out, it was such a sweet fanfic— but with how the fake rumors becoming true lately— this is now very scary 👀.

This started with GG’s post and the background being compared to one of Web’s cast-mate, Wang Hao Xuan.

What gets me is the caption saying, “stuff that happens at work is a secret”. / “someone became super talkative while eating zongzi” What? Why? Who do we know is quiet but becomes really talkative when with his GG? WANG YIBIS.

Post-shoot, The director attended SDOC 3 finals too! To support Web. Plus Web’s message for the wrap was sweet. I felt like they really took care of him and will not say anything that will bring him down.

Thank you note: holy shit, I never thought I´d make it this far. I didn´t think anything of the social aspect of starting posting on here. Two years ago I posted ´Family feud´, a Katakuri oneshot just when he first appeared in the manga and he was another character I loved. I always like to look back on this fic, because I have grown so much since then. My readers are more neutral now, I want everone to be able to read my stuff, that´s why I´m trying my best to be as inclusive as possible. Over time I´ve also started doing more in depth warnings and tags. It still amazes me that people have stuck with me, that certain posts have blown up so much that I had to take a double take (mostly my Seven deadly sins stuff and my recent Haikyuu stuff. SO PROUD OF YOU, NICHKHUN.

Behind of the scenes of idol life that are not as perfect as you think,

Challenges that dare a man to prove his capabilities,

And looking at life from a different perspective through the eyes of ‘Khun’ Nichkhun Horvejkul, a K-Pop idol from Thailand who has been the pride of the whole nation.

Nichkhun Horvejkul is the name of a Korean artist who is well known by Thai people. For over 11 years, he has been famous as an idol in Korean boy band 2PM. He has also become a real idol for new generations for his success and his impeccable demeanour as a representative of Thailand. Although Nichkhun has settled in South Korea, every step that shows his development has been obvious to everyone.

Currently, Nichkhun has stepped closer to becoming a true actor through his third Chinese series ‘Shall We Fall in Love’ which would be shown on WeTV. On this occasion, Nichkhun flew back to Thailand to attend the official launching of WeTV application on June 14, 2019. He talked with OK! about new steps, challenges, and projects that were beyond his expectation, behind the scenes of idol life that several people deemed perfect, and his viewpoint on love, from a direct and honest perspective filtered through his 31-year experiences.

Q: We are used to seeing you promoting your works in Korea or Thailand. Can we say your work in China seems to be a new development?

Nichkhun: Thai people may not know I have worked in China often. When I went to award ceremonies in China, I met Mike (Pirath Nitipaisankul) because he also attended these ceremonies quite often. This is the first time I have an opportunity to promote my Chinese series in Thailand. It is a refreshing feeling. As a matter of fact, ‘Shall We Fall in Love,’ currently aired on WeTV for Thai people, is my third Chinese series. WeTv is a new online platform that will satisfy customers’ demands or requirements. I believe there will be more collaborations in the future. Thais will be able to see another aspect of me when I speak Chinese or English in my series.

Q: What is the appeal that will make viewers fall in love with the series?

Nichkhun: The goofiness of the male lead, Jiang Yinan. He is cheerful and cute. He doesn’t care that he may be a loser. He is content with who he is. When he meets the female lead, he tries in every way to make her happy even though she doesn’t love him.

Q: Jiang Yinan is a character full of positivity and liveliness. How much is he similar or different from you?

Nichkhun: This role is similar to me to a certain extent. I like to be a giver and at times I don’t care about other people either. Nonetheless, I am a star so I have to maintain my image a bit. Sometimes I ran around and hang out with my friends in the middle of the streets too. I want some freedom and want to express who I am as well. But I may not be as expressive as this character.

Q: Jiang Yinan is a joyful and lovely boyfriend. In real life, what kind of a boyfriend are you?

Nichkhun: Goofy. When I am being with someone, I will adapt myself to suit that person. It depends on the character of the person I am dating. If she likes someone who is boyish, playful or goofy, I will be like that. If I am dating a woman who is more reserved, I will try to tease her from time to time. I like making people around me laugh, with my facial expressions, remarks, or gestures.

Q: The Thai title of the series is “กล้าไหม... มารักกัน” (Do you dare to love me?). Do you have such experiences in real life?

Nichkhun: I guess so. Even though I am ‘Nichkhun,’ it doesn’t mean everyone will fall in love with me. Fame makes people cautious to be closer to me. Some people may talk to me but they may not dare to love me. I think if we decide to fall in love with someone, we are taking a risk. We need to be daring too. With a woman I don’t think of her that way, I will be able to playfully talk to her or even hug her neck. But with a woman I am interested in, I will not dare to approach her to say “Hello. Can I have your phone number?” I will nudge my friends and ask them to help me. (laugh)

Q: You have worked with Korean, Thai, Japanese, and Chinese production teams. Can you tell us the differences?

Nichkhun: Chinese production teams have limited the filming to 10-12 hours per day, including makeup and hairstyling time. In China, I would have a one-day break per week. It was quite comfortable because it’s guaranteed that I would have time to sleep and rest truly. (laugh) Chinese and Thai production teams are similar when it comes to cordiality. Actors would come out to sit, talk, or have a meal together. Korean and Japanese teams are similar when it comes to maintaining their privacy.

Q: Even though you debuted as an idol, you have proved yourself as an actor in several roles. Do you feel like you are getting closer to becoming a true actor?

Nichkhun: We just sent Chansung, 2PM’s last member, to the army. We will have to wait for 2 years to be able to come back together. For the present, I am changing my role between being an actor and a solo artist. I will hold a solo concert in Thailand on July 27. Composing music, practising, playing musical instruments, and performing on stage has a certain appeal. When I asked my fans to scream, I would have a feedback immediately. For acting, I would have to wait for 3 or 6 months or 1 year for feedback. They are different but both are fun to work on. At the moment, I still don’t consider myself an actor. I have only worked on some acting projects. Almost every role I have played is quite similar. They are warm, lovely, or nice. I would like to play a different role which will prove if I will be able to do it well.

Q: Most idols who have become actors have often been subject to criticism about their talents. Have you encountered this problem?

Nichkhun: All the time. In fact, I have wondered whether I performed my roles well. That’s why I have often asked people around me what they thought about my performances in certain scenes. I want to do it well. I don’t mean acting merely. I mean singing, dancing, and playing instruments too. All of them are a challenge for me in each step. Acting is not easy. It depends on your experiences how you will portray each role excellently. You have to make the character on the papers come alive and live inside your body. It doesn’t mean there is only one way to play a character. It depends on how well we can create the character and make him more alluring.

Q: Several people consider you their idol and expect everything you do to be great. Do you feel pressured for carrying everyone’s expectations?

Nichkhun: In the beginning, I felt deeply pressured. Before BamBam (GOT7’s Kunpimook Bhuwakul) and Lisa (Blackpink’s Lalisa Manoban) made their debut, I was the only Thai idol who was successful in Korea. Everyone thought Thai people must be like Nichkhun. It was a burden I have carried for a long time. In the past, people tended to think that Thailand was an undeveloped country or Thai people still rode elephants. I have told people there are several great aspects of Thailand and invited them to visit Thailand. More tourists started to come to Thailand and there have been continuous promotions. Thailand in the eyes of foreigners has changed and I have carried a lighter burden in this regard. But importantly, I have begun to let go and to think we are not robots or printing moulds that will be perfect perpetually. If we make a mistake once in a while, it’s because we are human. I have tried not to tell myself I have to be perfect. Instead, I have told myself I have to be a good person. I must not betray people. What I have spoken must be true. Otherwise, I must not say it or do it.

Q: Are you a perfectionist?

Nichkhun: Pretty much but not all the time. I like my house to be clean and organised. But there are times when I let it go and don’t clean at all. After that, I would have to spend the whole day cleaning. (laugh) When I began cleaning vigorously, I would kneel down to scrub the floor.

Q: Do you scrub the floor by yourself?

Nichkhun: Of course. I don’t hire anyone to clean my house in Korea because I don’t want people I don’t know to come into my house. Thus, I do all the cleaning, laundry, cooking, and dishwashing by myself. It makes me happy that I have my own house. After finishing cleaning everything, I feel great that my house is clean. Am I getting old? (laugh)

Q: Can you share with us how is your social life in Korea like?

Nichkhun: Actually, I seldom go out for a meal or go to parties. I only go to the gym, play golf and badminton. Or I go out to do some errands or for work. Most of the time, I stay at home, cook, invite my friends to come over, drink wine, or play games just like normal people. I want to rest. If I go out, some people may ask for my signature or take my photos. Sometimes I had to refuse their request because I didn’t have any makeup on. I stay at home to avoid these problems.

Q: You have often said you are fortunate for having a chance to be in this position. Besides opportunities, what do you consider the important driving force that makes you have everything today?

Nichkhun: My fans, my friends in 2PM, my family and Thai people. I still think of myself as a Thai person. I must not do anything to damage my country’s reputation. That’s the reason I still work hard, want to improve, and keep on fighting today.

Q: In your opinion, how cool is Nichkhun Horvejkul?

Nichkhun: To a certain level. I will give myself 6-7 out of 10. There are many things I have to improve. However, what makes me proud of myself is the fact that I have done things I previously thought I wouldn’t be able to accomplish. Releasing my solo album ‘ME’ is an example. After making a debut for 11 years, I had never thought I would be able to do it. When we released our albums or when I performed in concerts with 2PM, I didn’t have many singing parts. Occasionally I had some rap parts. Several factors inspired me to release my solo album. I told myself to give it a try and do my best. I wanted to see whether I would be able to do it. After finishing making the album, I knew I could do it. I may start from zero but if I pour my heart into it, I can accomplish anything.

Q: What was your inspiration for releasing a solo album?

Nichkhun: We held some concerts since Taecyeon, 2PM’s first member, went to the army. Our fans were sad that it would be our last album before five of us would be discharged from the military. I didn’t know what came over me. I spoke into the microphone and told our fans I would release a solo album so our fans would not be lonely. I said it without consulting with anyone. Our staff was half delighted, half stunned. They were not certain if I was being serious. That’s what forced me to make my album. (laugh) In fact, my true inspiration was my fans and other 2PM members. All of them had their solo album and composed their own songs. I thought, as a member of 2PM, I should be able to do it too. That was an important inspiration for me to work hard on composing, singing, and performing on stage.

Q: Idol life may sound beautiful and luxurious but life behind the scenes is full of pressure, disappointment, and loneliness every now and then. How do you handle these feelings so that you can keep going?

Nichkhun: I think I am a man who works in the entertainment industry. Being a star is not my whole life. It is my job and my responsibility. When I have free time, I live with myself and do things I want to do. I exercise, play golf and badminton, play games at home, or go out for a meal with my friends. I have to learn to adjust my life. I work when it’s time to work and I take a break when it’s time to do so. I was not born to be a star. I was born to be a human being. Therefore, I have to live my life as a human being, not a star. I can be a star while I am working but I must realize what goes up must come down. When my popularity peaked, it seemed like everything would stay like that permanently. But when my popularity has lessened and fluctuated over time, it is fun and challenging for me. I think my life should not cling to being a star and to fame. I have to talk with my family very often and find one or two friends whom I can trust. Sometimes you can have a wrong idea if you stay alone. When you were used to standing in front of ten thousand people and suddenly there were only hundreds of people, I understand that it hurts. However, basically, we are a human being. Our daily life is just like other people. We have to eat, drink, and sleep. We have to truly understand this fact.

Q: It is difficult to get into the entertainment industry in any country. Do you agree it is more difficult to maintain popularity for as long as possible?

Nichkhun: Yes, I do. I think the important thing is our effort. We also have to be a good person and we must not lie to the media or our fans. We may not be this popular forever. Fame can go up and go down. But we will survive. People’s age and thoughts rapidly change. New artists are only 10 years old. They are less than half my age. Fans are getting younger too. Will they like someone who is the same age as their uncle, their aunt, or their older sibling? They may like artists who are the same age. We have to know and understand these things.

Q: Age is a limitation for most boy bands. Are 2PM members worried about their age?

Nichkhun: No, because we have never created a cute image for our band. We have been known as beast idols since the beginning. We have shown masculinity and maturity. I believe 2PM can keep going. We will sit down and sing if we cannot dance any longer. There may be dancers performing behind us. We have talked about the time when we reach 40 or 50. There will be no dance songs and we may sing ballads or slower songs.

Q: News and celebrities go hand in hand. But we have rarely heard negative news about you. Is it because you always live your life carefully to avoid such news?

Nichkhun: Maybe because I try to be careful. I try to be a good person and I don’t lie to the media and my fans. I let my fans know the kind of person I am. I didn’t smile when I didn’t want people to take my photos. Once in a while, I was in a dark mode or upset. I scolded my fans if they crossed the line. To be a good person, I don’t do anything immoral and illegal. Fame can drive people crazy sometimes. It is fortunate that I have great friends in my band. We have warned each other not to do certain things if they were not right. We have supported each other to do good things. Most of the time when we came back to Thailand or went to other places, the questions we asked were: What are the opening hours for the fitness centre and swimming pool? What is the WiFi password? (laugh)

Q: Can you list work, family, and love in order of importance?

Nichkhun: Family, love if I am in love, and work. Most important are my family who will be with me for my whole life. Then there are people I love, my friends, my girlfriend, my wife or my children. People may think stars must be rich and busy with works constantly. That’s not true. Being a star is among the most unstable jobs. We will have work when people hire us. If they don’t hire us, we won’t have any work or income. There was a period last year when I tried to focus on making my solo album. I didn’t accept any job because I spent a lot of time at the studios. For the whole month, not a single baht was transferred into my bank account. I was so shocked. (laugh) That had never happened before. I have realized stars don’t have salaries. How much money you have depends on how much you work. People rarely know about this. They may think every star must be wealthy.

Q: We have often seen your conversations with your sisters on social media. We know you are very protective of your sisters. Are you going to be this protective of your girlfriend?

Nichkhun: We just teased each other. I have let go. In the past, I was more protective. I didn’t want them to wear short skirts. When I saw them with a man, I wanted to know who the man was. Nowadays, if my younger sisters are ready to date anyone, I just ask them to bring the guy to see me. If they wear short skirts, I may tease them or find something to cover their legs. I don’t ask them to change their outfit. On social media, we just teased each other playfully. I am not that protective in real life. With my girlfriend, shouldn’t I be more protective of her than my sisters? (laugh)

Q: You have lived alone for a long time. Are you lonely?

Nichkhun: I have many friends. And I have lived abroad since I was 11. I have not lived with my family for 20 years. I have frequently travelled and worked in several countries so I don’t feel lonely. There are many things I can do. That’s why I like to play golf. I can play it by myself. When I stay at home, I watch movies or play games. I just live with myself and think of what I want to do in the future. That’s why I don’t have time to be lonely.

Q: You have said you wanted to get married when you reached 32-33. Do you still have the same thought?

Nichkhun: At first, I even said 30. Now I still haven’t thought about wanting to get married. There are still so many challenges that I want to give it a try. If I really get married, I will possibly quit show business and live in a quiet town in America in order to spend time with my family.

Q: Haven't you found anyone that attracted you?

Nichkhun: I don’t want to be a burden for the person I have a relationship with. Even though I have settled in Korea, I don’t spend much time there. In one year, I may stay in Korea for 6 months or less. From July this year, I will come back to Thailand very often because of my work.

Q: This question may sound repetitive but many people want to know what kind of girl are you attracted to.

Nichkhun: I don’t have a certain type. Perhaps, I like women who are naturally cute and lovely with facial features that are not too sharp. Actually, physical appearance is just a part. The most important thing is her characteristic. I like people who love their family. I like the kind of person my mother will like after I introduce them. The kind of person who respects older people. I just want her to be a good person. Because if I start to have negative feelings or things change, no matter how beautiful she is, it doesn’t help at all.

Q: You have fame, wealth, and many people who love you. What is the next happiness that you are looking for?

Nichkhun: I have never thought about it. (laugh) I am happy with my life each day. The next step is probably building my own family but I don’t know when or whether it will happen.

Q: When do you want to get married then?

Nichkhun: Let’s say 35. When I am 35, I will probably say 40. (laugh) Right now, I am enjoying my work. I want to spend time with my family and my friends for the time being. Getting married to someone is making a promise that I will spend the rest of my life with her. It is meaningless if I can’t keep my promise.

Q: What are your future goals that you want to achieve?

Nichkhun: If it is possible, I want to make it in Hollywood as an actor just once. In fact, there have been auditions and I have sent my videos. There were some interests but due to time and other factors, it didn’t work out. I am waiting for the right time. Mike (Pirath Nitipaisankul) has already joined a Hollywood-production movie entitled ‘The Misfits.’ It will be fun to work together.

Q: Do you have anything to say to your fans who have always supported you?

Nichkhun: From now on, we will see each other often, on TV, in my concert, and through my solo album. I will keep working on more projects but I won’t make a specific promise. Thank you for following and loving me. It has been 12 years in Thailand. In the future, I will produce works that are better, more mature and perfect for you to see and listen to. Let’s get old together. Thank you. (smile)

Bad Timing (Part 4)

Prompt: do you know why you are unhappy? Because there is a gap between what you want and the reality.

pairing: Taehyung x reader

You thought the gap between what you wanted and what the reality was, is him. It was not, the gap was you.

Having made up your mind to remain a friend to Taehyung, you expended a lot of effort in the week following the ‘cinema incident’ making sure that you followed through. When he texted you to ask if you were ok, you responded in the most cavalier way you could think of. Seeing him around school, you would always endeavour to put on your most natural smile before walking past him as per usual. It would be a lie to say that it was not difficult on you; every time you reminded yourself to treat him just like you would treat a friend, you felt as if there were little pins pricking at your heart.

You could hear his voice, smell his scent and occasionally sense him looking at you, but you would do your utmost best to block out all of it and continue with your normal school life. There were a couple of times you contemplated explaining to him what had happened at the cinema. However, you had yet to come up with a good enough cover for what happened and the longer it took the harder it became for you to talk about it.

Jimin had come over to your table during lunch time on Monday to ask your gang whether any of you wanted to go watch their concert the coming Sunday. “Wouldn’t it be weird to reject a friendly request to attend a concert? What was there to avoid? Just go”, you thought to yourself right before you agreed to attend the concert. You were very mindful again, making sure to say it the most commonplace tone you could muster, since Taehyung also came over to your table.

On hindsight, Taehyung had once asked if you were interested in hip hop dances while you two were walking some of the dogs at the shelter and he broke out into a funky moonwalk to your amusement. Your appreciation for the performing arts was probably limited to listening to your favourite bands and it didn’t seem to surprise to Taehyung either when you said "Not sure if I would be able to appreciate those moves”, you said while laughing at his improvised performance.

“Don’t you watch the idols on TV? Or do you happen to belong to a different generation, maybe you would prefer trot music?”, he asked rather cheekily.

“Of course I watch the idols on TV, but I watch them for the pretty boys they are”, you were up to the challenge in terms of cheekiness, “anyway, I prefer the singing bits over the dancing parts.”

Come to think of it, he didn’t mention anything about the concert. Did he not think that you may have wanted to go? Did he not want you to go?

Taehyung was unusually distant throughout the rest of the week, he hardly messaged you. Ironically, your new resolution to maintain a friendly distance made you more conscious about this. You weren’t sure if this was because of what happened on Saturday and you were wary even to ask him whether he was coming to the shelter with you this Friday. Eventually, you decided to just see if he would turn up at the school gate, where you two would meet up, at the usual time.

He didn’t turn up at the usual time and although this could be the epitome of a worthless dilemma, you had a tough time deciding whether to just go off or to send him a message to ask if he was coming today. Guess he wanted to see Lula off that day after all because he did end up running to the school gate ten minutes late.

As you watched Lula leave with her new owner, Suzy, you blinked away the tears that had welled up in your eyes. You wanted to be happy that Lula found a new home, but at the same time you couldn’t shake off your worries. Similarly, Lula was very dependent on you and for that matter, Taehyung too, probably because the both of you were the first to take care of her when she was brought to the shelter.

Nevertheless, she was special to you, painfully special because she reminded you of Snowy, who was once your beloved friend, and whom you will forever feel a sense of guilt and sorrow towards. This would explain why you had insisted that Lula's new collar would have both Suzy’s contact number and yours on it, at least for the first year after her adoption.

Compounding the seriousness of the events of that day, Taehyung was very quiet when you two were leaving the shelter, so quiet that you felt a need to say something before you were breathless from the intensity of the silence between you two. You came up with the most reasonable thing you thought you could ask at that point, which was whether he was going back for dance practice. The conversation somehow led to you fretting that he’d go to practice hungry and you wanted to get him dinner from somewhere. Taehyung was still staring down at you intensely during the conversation without saying much. All you wanted to do was avoid any chance that he might see through your act of friendliness so you quickly evaded such a possibility by asking if Jimin, who was waiting for Taehyung, may need some sustenance as well.

“It’s ok, you don’t have to. Jimin isn’t the only one waiting, Hyejin, Soohyun and the rest will be there too. We usually grab supper after practice anyway”, Taehyung said.

Right. That was stupid of you to ask, why were you trying to intrude into their routine... you don’t even belong there.

“But if you want to come and watch us practice, I think Jimin will be more than happy”, he continued.

What was that? “Huh, why would he be...”, you blurted out a reaction but was quickly cut off by Taehyung continuing his speech.

“Since you agreed to come to the concert for him, right... I will make sure he gets your friends and you some good seats. He's the guy in charge of our club anyway.”

That was not why you agreed to go, but you were in no position to clarify it without risking letting Taehyung know that you wanted to go because of him. You were looking away from Taehyung in hopes that he will not catch the disappointment in your eyes – the disappointment that at no point Taehyung even considered that you wanted to go so that maybe you could understand him a little more, maybe you could get closer to him a little more.

“I think I’ll go off first, all the best at practice...”, you felt like your efforts throughout the week at persuading yourself to remain a good friend might crumble at any moment now. “See you all on Sunday then”, you looked at him briefly, not sure what you were searching for in his eyes. As quickly as the crisis came, you made up the decision to retreat before further damage could be caused.

As you walked away from the school gate which Taehyung has probably entered right now, you were once again left wondering how long more you could keep up the pretence.

That Friday also marked the start of a short school break. And then, the day of the concert came.

Watching Taehyung perform on stage with his dance club friends made you realise why you had kept your distance from the popular kids in school in the first place. The people below the stage swooning at the people on stage, the people on the stage enjoying the affection. That was the life of the popular kids – a life that attracted attention and interest, a life that was mutual between the object and the subject. They knew they were popular, they knew others loved them and they were able to love themselves.

You, on the other hand, believed that unwanted attention and interest are burdensome. You were outgoing by choice, but you were hesitant often, being wary of other’s judgments.

Maybe this was the paradox of your life, you kept up a constant pretence that you were happy, that you were alright, that you were just like everyone else. But you were still unhappy. Because you were not alright, because you had sadness and you had fears, and because you were incapable of showing it to anyone else.

At the root of it all, perhaps it was because you had convinced yourself that you were ultimately alone, that if the rain came falling down on you, nobody would be willing to stand in it with you.

You looked up at the concert banner with huge bold words, “Love Yourself: Chapter 1”, the title of the concert.

You were not sad because you fell in love with a dandelion. You were not sad because the dandelion did not love you. You were sad because you hoped that the dandelion would love you, but in reality, even you could not love yourself.

Japan Expo Malaysia Day 1 (26 July 2019)

Okay, it’s the first day for one of the biggest Japanese events in Malaysia, I originally came here only to attend AKB48’s concert, because my Oshimen, Okada Nana (Naachan) was one of the members who were coming. Since I live in a nearby country, so it was possible for me to come (with my parents) not to mention the ticket prices were considerably cheap. So I was a bit bummed that my mother might not let me go alone to attend the concert, but thankfully from the first day my parents seemed to feel comfortable and confident to let me go to the venue (Kuala Lumpur Pavilion) since it is located near to our hotel (Capitol Hotel). So in the morning I arrived at Pavilion at 11 am and killed some time at Daiso at the top floor and got a sweet black hat with golden Apple logo (if you know me, you’d know why I had a compulsion to buy this hehe). When I came downstairs, they were just opening the expo and the very first performance, a Kyodo (archery) performance was starting and I took the time to rest at the Coffee Bean next to the stage. Afterwards, the first idol group to perform was called KiREI. Now, I’ve never heard of this group before this expo and I didn’t bother checking on them. But we were told that KiREI is a group made up of 3 disbanded idol groups in Tokyo. Their theme is to "Make Everything Beautiful" not just their inner but outer appearances. One of the hosts (Aki) kept telling us audience that they were super cute and I challengingly said, “Sway my heart babe”. So the girls came in; Tanaka Hana, Konatsu Mia and Miyadera Miho. Sure they were cute and beautiful (which idol isn’t, am I right?)

Nevertheless, I took the chance to take pictures of them with my Nikon camera. I was standing at one side of the stage and since there were some empty seats it was quite easy access for me to take pictures of them. But what I did NOT expect was when one of the members, Hana (nicknamed Hanapii) actually made an eye contact with me and WINKED. My heart MELTED (jokes on me; my heart wasn’t just swayed lololol). Maybe I’m a sucker because this was my very first time attending an idol concert, but gosh darn it I just fell for her on the spot. Aside from that coincidental moment, I realized her face is totally my type among the 3 of them, not to mention she’s also pretty tall (well I’m super short so for some people she could be a medium height). Side note: during their performance the wotage group was doing the Overture chant and I joined them from far away (lol) and it was actually a bit awkward since it seemed like I was the only female who was chanting passionately. Also, another side note, there was this adorable old man who was a huge fan of Harupiii (another idol that performed after KiREI) but I think he’s a fan of idols in general cuz he was also singing along to KiREI’s songs. Back on track, after getting wink attack-ed by Hanapii I was so moved that I paid 150% attention on them. And while I was snapping pics at every second and taking vids, what do you know? She saw me again and made an eye contact again! I realized that she was THE ONE in this group. She’s my KiREI Oshimen.

Time flew really fast and before I knew it, their slot time was over (most of the idol performances had only 30 to 45 minutes time slot) but thankfully they were having another performance outdoor in the afternoon so I was sure I’d attend it. After KiREI was Harupiii (who is an idol who has performed in this event for 3 years).

Harupiii definitely looked younger than the KiREI members but you know what, that didn’t stop me from staying and watched her performance till the end. What I like about Harupiii is that despite being quite small, looked young, she definitely slayed the performance and I was hooked with her. All the more when she saw me, and finger gunned me (OOF!!) Another hit right on the heart! What’s with these idols making me fall faster than flies lololol!

The wota guys were more hyped this time and so was I and the old man fan ran to the wotage guys and started to enthusiastically chant for her. And you know what, I find it adorable. Especially when one of the guys was carried on other men’s shoulders to the front. I really really like their enthusiasm and I can see why wota life is pretty exciting. I just wished that the awkward atmosphere wasn’t lingering, but YOU KNOW WHAT? SCREW IT, LET’S HAVE FUN!

After the end of Harupiii’s performance I was exhausted so I went back to my parents at Coffee Bean. They told me to get an autograph and picture from KiREI’s members you gotta buy some merch (I mean, that’s how their business works so I knew the procedure). At first I wasn’t sure to go or not but my mother was being encouraging and persuasive made me go for it, and you know what, GG mum! You made the right decision for me! It was worth spending RM80 ($14) to get 2 Cheki tickets (one for autograph and handshake, and another for polaroid photos). I was legit happy since this was my very first time attending a meet-and-greet event with a Japanese idol, and while I used to do translations and subs for some AKB48 stuff, I’m not that confident with my Japanese speaking skills but Hanapii made it so much easier and fun. Albeit she knew limited English, but we managed to communicate successfully. As for the poses I thought we were gonna do the usual heart poses like the guys in front of me did with other members. Well we did just that, but since I bought two tickets so I got to take two photos, and I did not expect that she hugged me (well more like she reached her arms out towards me and leaned in, but close enough, man!) The conversation continued as she was signing the polaroid frames (side note: she asked for the alphabets for my name which was pretty funny considering how easy the pronunciation is, even in Japanese) but at the same time it’s nice how considerate she was. So she asked me if I was a Malaysian and I told her no, I’m a Bruneian which impressed her and I told her that it’s because of this event that I flew over which impressed her even more (I really like how idols tend to give cute reactions when they’re impressed). Then she complimented me for my Japanese and naturally I was like “No no no~ I need to study more” and she was like “Ganbatte~!”. AH SO CUTE! She then asked if I liked idols. If only she knew. But I just told her, “Yes, I love idols”. As much as I loved talking to her I didn’t want to take too long since there was a long line behind me so I told her I was leaving and she was like “We’re gonna perform again outside!” and I responded with an enthusiastic nod, “I will DEFINITELY come!” I was legit happy to the point of shaky hands and happy tears when I came back to our table (Extra note: mum took some pics and video when I was lining up for the merch).

My parents wanted to go elsewhere, but I told them I was gonna stay there for more performances. So I was finally left on my own (WHOOOOO!). While waiting for KiREI’s next performance I decided to take the time to post things in my social media, and also look for KiREI’s and Hanapii’s Twitter accounts. I love that when I shared my experience with my Discord friends, they were so supportive and happy for me (I love y’all!).

So for the afternoon performance at the outdoor stage I was surprised that 15 minutes before it began the space was rather empty except by shoppers and a handful of fans so I was like shimmying my way to the front because once again, I was self-conscious for being like the only enthusiastic female fan (was I already considered a fan?). There were even some guys nearby who I could hear talking about me, saying, “Look, she’s waiting there, how cute”. It wasn’t anything negative per say, but it just made me more self-conscious lol. So about 10 minutes before starting and the girls were seen strutting towards the backstage and I find it funny yet adorable that they didn’t need some security to cover them. I guess this shows how chill the audience here is. I mean, Mianyan jogged past me and brushed my shoulder a bit, but I just acted chill. I know why one can get excited when their favorite celebrity is around, but for goodness sake some crazy fans need to chill.

Since no one was really taking the front row (this time it was an outdoor stage so there were no seats), I just slipped my way to the left side of the stage. A few more minutes till starting and the girls made their way next to the stage and it’s adorable I could see them doing the chanting thing, where they go “Ganbatte, ikuzo! Ohh~” I was already in my wota mode so I managed to take pictures of them doing that.

Before I attended this concert, I didn’t know why people would kill their money to get front rows, but now I can see why! The reason why I know now is because as I watched their performance right in front, the eye contacts you get from the artists are more direct and you feel like you made more intimate and personal connections with them. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE HANAPII MADE SEVERAL EYE CONTACTS WITH ME THAT I FELT SO OVERWHELMED I HAD TO LOOK AWAY (not all the time). Okay this may sound pretentious, but I honestly think when Hanapii saw me her smile doubled the radiance cuz I could see her smile reaching her eyes during those times. I tried to take pictures and videos of all three girls but you can really tell my bias for Hanapii was evident from the pictures I’m sharing here lololol.

More, more fun things happened when I went to take pictures with Hanapii for the second time. This time it seemed Mianyan and Chori-chan were familiar with me and they kept looking at me as I interacted with Hanapii. She remembered me so she was like “Ahh~ Nura-chan~ welcome back” and I swear my heart was pierced by that and I just covered my face out of embarrassment and said, “I’m back”, then she responded with the heart throbbing line, “Eh~ I’m so happy! I love you!” which naturally made me embarrassed and hid my face again and she was like “Nande, nande?” GURL YOU DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH POWER YOU HAVE OVER ME EVEN THOUGH I’VE ONLY KNOWN ABOUT YOU FOR 3 HOURS! So we did new poses and while she signed the polaroid frames she started chatting with me like “Where are you staying” and so I told her I was staying at a nearby hotel and she was like “Ah me too! I stay in a hotel” Ah of course you do sweetheart, so cute. And I jokingly asked, “Which hotel?” And she responded, “We’re not supposed to say yet.” AHAHAHA SO CUTE. Then she told me she saw me taking so many pictures (well I did stand at the first row so heheh). I complimented everyone and naturally they thanked me (Ahhh Mianyan and Chori-chan were so cute too). After that I made a mistake to look at Hanapii in the eyes and once again hid my face, but to make things worse (or better) they were all like “Kawaii~~~” GAH THESE GIRLS I SWEAR. And she also patted my head while doing so. I. Was. Dead. So after that she apologized for being sweaty and I was like “No, no, you’re still very cute.” And believe me when I said that she gave this blinding smile and I thought, “Welp, she got me in the palm of her hands.” Once again she apologized for sweating so much and started to talk about the heat. Being the concerned fan that I was, I asked her, “Are you okay? Y’know, with this crazy heat?” I could tell she was trying to ease my worries and said “Yeah! I’m okay, I got used to it.” Once again, I didn’t want to take too much time, so I proceeded to leave but before leaving I told her that I was coming again the next day, to which she thanked me for and said she’ll look forward to it. As I was leaving (while clutching on my new polaroid pictures) I looked at all three girls and said “Ganbatte~” and they all cutely waved while saying their thanks.

Since I was sweating bullets (curse the heat and black clothes lol) so I went back inside for the AC and sat on the stairs leading towards the center stage. What was going on was an AirAsia dance performance by their staff. I gotta say for non-dancers, they did pretty good, especially with the fact they danced in their working uniforms! Then I looked around the shopping mall in search of my parents, only to find out they were elsewhere. So I decided to stay a bit longer. While doing that, a boy band called cosmic!! was performing and for goodness sake were the boys CUTE! Okay, I may be biased, but I really prefer J-pop male idols over K-pop male idols because I can actually distinguish their faces, and not to mention they did not to wear much makeup and to me they still looked handsome and cute. Also based on their facial expressions, they looked they were having so much fun and also interacting with the fans (who were definitely having so much fun too considering how vigorous they were with their glowsticks).

Codem: -Picking up the keys after closing on #our house and listening to Arden's dreams for the pad while listening to the songs that brought us together in the first place. -Perched in the balcony of Park West watching Chromatics live and in person. -The Chapman format playlist that Brendon and I put together. It was just one song on repeat. Xtal - Aphex Twin -Plugging in my klipsch's for the first time in the new house to listen to elliott smith on the day of his death. the sound of his discography wafting throughout the whole house was a true delight.

Bronco: My 6-year-old discovering Green Day. My 9-year-old discovering Metallica. Both discoveries have awakened something in them that is hilarious and awesome to behold. And seeing Tool was pretty flaming awesome.

JD: March: Realizing I’d never heard this Stones song, nodding along to the opening riff, and exploding into my biggest laugh of the year at the first line.

Nasty: The Killers @ Summerfest. Hot Fuss will always be an all-time favorite album and Mr. Brightside is the best pop song of our lifetime, IMO. Also, my wife loves them which is about the only band in middle of the venn diagram.

Chap: TA was the only show I saw. It was great!

Bronco: All of them. They were each great in their own way. Aside from Tool I was able to interact with the band members at each of the shows. One I didn't have a ticket for and scored one at the door. One was in the tiniest venue I've seen a show at. One had a surprisingly entertaining opening act. And Tool surprised me with how much I enjoyed an arena show despite being so far away I couldn't see the facial features of the band members. And there was SOOOOOOO much weed being smoked in the Garden that night. And I was with a few good buddies. And I was able to sell my fourth ticket for twice what I paid, simulatenously covering me and my fourth friend who had to bail because his life sucks because his wife sucks.

Confession of 2019

Nasty: I consume more music at my cushy, suburban OrangeTheory workout classes than in my own free time. S/O to Coach Vanessa for having some Girl Talk on her playlists.

Codem: i had more fun listening to stuff that i already knew about than stuff that was coming out.

BC: I saw a Yacht Rock cover band and didn't hate it -I succumbed to social pressure and saw DMB -I didn't realize until the last minute that my favorite album was released in 2018 (Wild Nothing). Removing it greatly reduced my loyalty to my list.

Bronco: I'm losing my edge. I enjoyed way more lady singer bands this year than in any other year.

Chap: Couldn't get my shit together on the tracks list so just posted a random playlist

Larse: Not really a confession but more of a TIL (today I learned), but Raphael Saadiq was an original member of Tony! Toni! Tone!

Biggest Disappointment of 2019

Bin: The National @ Summerfest. From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel "the frontman was completely detached, even confessing at one point that he was excited to get back home to his family. The result was an incredibly depressing show — which, given the band's dour songs, is really saying something." ... Huge Bummer.

BC: Didn't see nearly enough shows with nearly enough of yous

Chap: Sturgill Simpson... unlistenable!

Bronco: Baroness.

Laser: Modest Mouse opening for The Black Keys

Code: i was really messed up by dave berman's passing. i had tickets to see him play at the end of august. it was going to be my first catching him live and in concert. i had waited for this moment since i picked up american water back in 2003. two weeks before he was supposed to come through town, he up and died. also, much less of a bummer, the chromatics show in miami that Arden and i were going to attend got canceled two days before the show.

Bronco: I didn't buy tickets to a few shows I would've liked to have seen. One of them I went to the venue and didn't get in. That bummed me out, but I crossed the street and had a few beers by myself for good measure, so it wasn't a total loss.

JD: Greater consciousness of how I’m using my attention - an ineffectual and meaningless protest of the ways the world is burning down in pursuit of it. How It Went: Not bad! I especially nailed the “ineffectual and meaningless” part.

Chap: Learn Piano; Guilt Joe Dons into finally inviting me to a concert. How It Went: Learned some piano but got to busy for it... Couldn't guilt JD to invite me anywhere but I DID invite him to a show! The same one I went to! With him!

Bronco: Read more 'classic’ books. I didn’t read many of them, even in school (especially in school? Never could read a book I was told to read). But I’m leaning in the sci-fi direction of 'classics’. I just read Dune this summer, and wrapped up Fahrenheit 451 the other day. I’m feeling an unexplained need to beef up my nerd credentials and this seems the way to accomplish it. How It Went: Nope. Fell back in to zombie-apocalypse genre series that I've been reading for a while. But I am currently reading arch-nerd Neal Stephenson's "Fall; or, Dodge in Hell". It's almost 900 pages, I feel like I've been reading for months now, and because I'm a stupidly slow reader, I read only before going to bed, and can only make it 10 minutes before falling asleep and hitting myself in the face with my phone, I'm only 25% of the way through. But man is it painting a creepy yet eerily plausible scene of the near future. Guy just knows how to write.
