i spent hours trying to think of what i had and hadnt said abt this au and then i typed a reply but its GONE. anyway!

i dont think ive talked about sy's plans for the future? by which i mean he has none. ok like. hes enamored with the idea of saving himself but he doesnt feel like he has a lot of viable options. he COULD go to sqh and ask him to set up a nice life somewhere far away from cang qiong mountain, but sqh is just as busy as sy. he COULD try to befriend lbh, but lbh lives in the disciples dormitories now and has very little overlap with sy's life. he COULD try to find a cultivation sect or trading company to employ him, but sqq would probably kill them and him if he did that. also, hes terrified of trying to change his position in the sect already, bc he feels its unstable as it is.

his BEST options for the future are probably

1) finding some kind of mystical plant panacea to help his cultivation

2) lqg taking him to bai zhan peak so he works for his peak doing the finances and paperwork

or 3) dying again and hoping the system feels bad about it and gives him a 3rd chance at life

Ghouls as Retail Workers Headcanon

If I have to work retail hell, so do they!!!! I kinda imagined they'd work at like. a retail chain. I dont know. Imagine a Walmart. If you don't have a Walmart where you live. Imagine what you would describe as Retail Hell.

This is an incredibly stupid post on how I think they'd survive working a retail job off campus. This certainly applies to on campus jobs too though. Please don't take any of this seriously.

Frostheim

If you ignore the fact that none of them (with the exception of like, Kaito? Maybe?) would ever need to work retail to begin with, you will discover that most of them do not have the constitution and social moxxy to survive in retail anyway.

Jin

I think we all need to be honest here. He'd be dogshit at it. He's the coworker who acts like the manager even if he's not, and he's terrible with customers and other employees. You could not rely on him to cover your shift, but you can always rely on him calling out and requiring you to come in on your day off. Absolute retail bastard. 1/10 but only because if a customer gives you shit, he'll defend you and take the heat for it. You win one, lose every other one.

Tohma

Out of everyone in Frostheim I think Tohma is the only one who could possibly win at retail. He's got it all. Perfect model employee. Literally the Company's Dream which means he's every employee's nightmare. But it's fine. He's dependable and never calls out, and he's good with the customers, even if his stocking is lacking. Born to cashier. Forced to be rich. Would be perfect but customers find him minorly off-putting. 9/10

Kaito

He would be good at it but you get the constant impression he's one bad customer away from a mental break. And it's sad. watching a shaking chihuahua tell someone you're out of stock of something and there's none in the back. And he'd probably hate it all too, and try to flirt with the women, and it'd just be best for everyone if he seeks other employment opportunities. Let it be known to everyone though that he was the best informed on trends and was best at figuring out what people wanted though. Solid 8/10

Luca

You want to root for him so bad, which is why it's so sad when he's fired. He's not bad at his job! He's diligent and does tasks perfectly. But he's terrible on the customer side, because he jumps to too many conclusions and gets into too many tiffs with shoplifters. He's also constantly asking for the manager and holding up lines and interfering with others. Nightmare. But he's so likeable.... but also he catches you taking 20 minutes instead of 15 for your break and he tells your manager on you so you do kinda resent him for that. 6/10

Vagastrom

Born to be freight forced to be freight. Leo is the exception. He's Vagastrom's pretty little princess who could do it if he wanted to but he doesn't want to. SOMEONE has to be the floor man in this house...

Alan

He would be banger at unloading freight and stocking shelves but the moment you ask him to talk to a customer or do register it's all over. He's basically that one coworker you Heard works there but you never see because he's always on truck and awake at like. 4 am. and not ever on the floor. And it's for the best really, because he'd be too awkward and silent and the energy of the store would become strange real quickly. One time he goes in on his day off to shop and a customer reports him to management for being a 'suspicious person' and he thinks about that every time he clocks in from then on. 6/10.

Leo

Hot Take but I think he'd be fine. Like I think he'd be good at it even. He would definitely one hundred percent quit, but while he's there he becomes the store favorite. Workers love him. Customers love him. Management loves him. The only people who don't love him are customers that annoyed him and the one bitch coworker everyone hates and that's because he's a demon to them in private and nobody believes them. He's so good at being dead inside levels of cheerful. 7/10 because after he quits you'll realize he's made you do like all of his work the entire time and that'd piss you off.

Sho

Okay. Okay. He'd be fine. But his constitution is that of a food service worker. And though food service workers are our brothers in arms our battles are different beasts and he would not understand the retail one. I still think he'd be solid, genuinely an average worker, but I don't think he'd last long at all. It's just Different. He can handle people being bitches but Stupid Bitches make his head hurt too much. Not worth it. He'll never go back again, and you will miss him despite his average-ness. The freight team mourns him every day. 5/10

Jabberwock

Despite statistics saying Jabberwock has an incredible retail worker value it should be known that Haru 'Freak of Nature' Sagara is an exception and should not be counted. It should also be noted that I would pay to put Ren and Towa in a Walmart and watch them do their jobs.

Haru

Haru Sagara was born in a shitty retail store and he will die in a shitty retail store and the store will die with him. And from his ashes another store will rise again. I cannot express enough how much this man exudes 'Made in the retail store clone lab' vibes. You would see him in the store and you would squint and think of a time where he didn't work and find none. He picks up all the extra shifts. He never calls out. He knows where everything is all the time. He's great with customers and great at upselling. He is perfect except for the fact that making everyone else look really bad in comparison. Because he's a freak of nature. Everyone would resent him a little (including managers and other employees) but he's too valuable to get rid of. There's a rumor he sleeps in the store. It may very well be true. 11/10 please get help.

Towa

Good news. He's a body that can be put on the schedule. Bad news. That's probably about all you can count on. I cannot express how bad he would be as a coworker. I do not envy the man who has to get him to do work he doesn't want to do at times he doesn't want to work. You could not count on him to do shit unless he likes you, and even then he is still prone to his own whims. Terrible with customers for the most part. By and large he's loved to bits but he's also.... Towa. Could you imagine encountering Towa at a store? Genuinely and truly? What would you do. What could you do? 2/10 because evening shifts are marginally better but not by much

Ren

Great news is that he's better than Towa. Terrible news is that he definitely wants to die the entire time and he makes sure everyone knows it. He would be okay on stocking and okay on register but he would never last long. He will miss the diner every day of his life and he'll quit suddenly and without notice. At the very least, he'd probably never call out. He may even pick up a shift or two, but it'll be unpleasant for most everyone involved. He'd probably find stocking fun but the moment someone comes to talk to him it's ruined. They'd ask him to do freight and he'd claim it's harassment. 4/10

Sinostra

A casino is not retail and these men will never in a million years survive the winter. I want to put them all on shift on Black Friday and watch as everything burns to the ground forever.

Taiga

I need you to look me in the eyes and tell me that he would not be fired literally immediately for no call no showing every single shift for like. a week and a half. You cannot get a hold of him. He shows up one time for a shift, does the shittiest job imaginable, and then is never seen again. He definitely shoplifted something but you don't know what. He ate someone's lunch in the break room. He is banned for life and nobody is sure how he got in in the first place. Absolutely the worst possible employee imaginable. It is a wonder he ever got hired in the first place. 0/10

Romeo

He does not pass the background check but if he did I think he'd be a great worker. I think he'd be really good at it even if he hated it. I think he'd be so scarily good at it he would become manager and everyone would quit because they hate him. Unfortunately I feel like he'd never stay long enough for that to happen, because he'd get so mad on his first day at all the customers and coworkers that he'd throw something at someone and be fired on the spot. And honestly it would probably have been deserved. But retail hell is unforgiving and Fico is not fit to survive. 8/10 I'd throw something too. I forgive him.

Ritsu

He's the worlds most average retail worker alive. Because on one hand he is worker's rights advocate king. But on the other hand he is so By The Letter Rules that if you take too long on your break or do something incorrectly as per the manual (but easier and better as per experience) he'll flip his shit on you. So everyone really wants to hate him but he calls the boss out the same way he calls everyone else out. So they can't hate him. But they can. So bad. He'd also never pick up your shifts unless you did something for him in return and it's annoying as all hell. He could never be fired bc he'd definitely sue the shit out of the company. But I can't imagine he'd ever quit either. He is retail hell and retail heaven. And for that. 5/10

Hotarubi

These poor, poor souls, who are not built for retail but are built like people who are forced to do it anyway. They could all survive. They could. But at what cost.

Subaru

Okay, he's fine. He's fine but he's so nervous all the time, and he's constantly asking for manager approval, and if he ever gets a promotion he'll be like let me ask the boss for approval (nervous smile) and everyone will be like YOU ARE THE BOSS... but it's okay. He's a good floor man and customers adore him. He cannot do register but they forgive him for that. Shifts exhaust him so bad he can't do anything else that day. But he'd probably come in if you need him. 9/10 please quit.

Haku

Haku is fascinating because he would both be The Best Ever and The Worst Ever. Unlike Ritsu who is a black hole of retail wherein nobody ever escapes, Haku is like a merciful assistant of divinity who does his job properly and quickly and without much outward complaint, but on breaks he's always insistent he can't do anything, and even though he'd help if you asked, he exudes an aura telling you not to ask. He's good. He'd want to quit pretty quickly though. He probably would quit pretty quickly! And it would be a tragic parting, but one you have all made peace with. 9/10 take subaru with you

Zenji

Ghosts are bad at retail. Hope this helps. ... Kidding. Mostly. Zenji would be a demon. He would be really good at the people portion of it, I guess, like chatting with customers and helping them find what they need. But he's loud, for one, and nosy, for two, and if you put him on register he'll get through 1 customer every 10 minutes because he needs to make everyone a song based on their products they're buying. So he's terrible. He's really so bad. But he's the moodmaker of the store and everyone is afraid that if you fire him every employee will drop dead from despair Immediately. So he lives on. Forever. 6/10

Obscuary

Obscuary is perhaps the funniest one to imagine in a retail store. I need you to sit and imagine what it would be like if you walked into Walmart or something and the workers you see are Ed, Rui, and Lyca. Think not as a fan of those characters. Think solely as a customer in this random retail store. Think about it for a long time.

Edward

I think he would last less time than Taiga, which is an achievement we should all celebrate. I don't know how he'd ever get hired, ever. At all. Even once. His background check would never pass. He would never get to the interview. He would never go to the store in general. All around a terrible idea, but if by some miracle he is hired, I cannot fathom what he would do. He was born to sit in the breakroom and eat everyone's snacks. He would not stock shelves well. He would not clean up the store. He would be the Worst cashier. If you put him on freight his old man bones would break and turn into dust and you would discover a brand new way to kill vampires that gothic romance novels will write about for centuries to come. Sorry old man. Your time has come. 0/10

Rui

He would be good at it but he personally would hate it so much you'd wonder if it was even worth it. Great with customers, great at checking things out quickly on register. He could probably do freight if you asked but he wouldn't prefer it. Only problem is that there's so many people and so many times where people will bump into him that he'll need like, a hazmat suit. And that's not part of the uniform. So he'd probably quit, or never get in the door to begin with, because it's so not worth it. Mass murder should be kept as inside thoughts as an employee, and he does not, in fact, want to live the dream. 8/10 in heart, 0/10 in reality

Lyca

Store pet....... Lyca would be fine. He's basically like, your youngest coworker who is really, really trying, and they're not good at their job, and they're super combative with customers, but they're so cute! So cute!! And most customers agree with that, even if they still leave complaints. He'd try his best with shelves and be bad. He'd try his best at register and be bad. He'd be good at freight for sure but he'd always insist on shifts during the day so he could get more human skills. And you can't fault him for trying. But you can fault him for being bad at the job and causing more problems than what it's worth. 4/10 if you put him on shift with Subaru

Mortkranken

We've done it. We've found the worst dorm to put in a retail environment imaginable. It is a good thing that they have a niche, because if their funding goes down, it will be a terrible, terrible day for Mortkranken. May your money never run out and may you always have advil on hand if it doesn't.

Yuri

This poor, poor man. He just can't do it. He just couldn't. More specifically, he wouldn't. It'd be a nightmare for him, constantly, forever. Sho could deal with stupid people to a certain degree, but the first time someone comes up to Yuri with a candle marked $4.99 and asks how much this candle is, Yuri will instantly pass away. He can't do it. He won't do it!! And that's fair, honestly. He'd be good at putting things where they belong. He'd be okay at cleaning up. He'd be bad on register and even worse on freight. Retail has introduced him into the field of lobotomies. 3/10

Jiro

Marginally better than Yuri because he would be good with helping with freight, but retail is unkind to people with chronic illness and he would not make it through his shifts most of the time. He is off-putting to customers and would not be allowed on the floor or register, and though the freight team would adore him, the bosses would like his output to be better. If Yuri can figure out a way to get him through his full shifts, they're golden. Until then, they are unemployed. 5/10 to retail, 10/10 to the truck team.

When Viktor enters on monday morning into the lab with his coffee in hand he expects nothing but silence, after all he is here before Jayce most mornings.

But he stops in his tracks when he hears Jayce's voice, maybe sounding less...well less like him. He sounds like he is talking to a small animal. It reminds him on how he uses to talk to Rio when he was a kid.

Pushing memories aside Viktor retakes his way and goes deeper into the lab, where their experiments are.

And oh, if his illness did not kill him as most doctors had said then this would do it.

Jayce, using one of his experiments showing it to a kid who seems to be as suprised as any kid would be and perphas gives the most honest reactions to his inventions.

But wait, go back.

Jayce and a kid.

His cane hits the floor in suprise and he ends being watched by two pairs of eyes.

Jayce looks like he was discovered breaking some important rule, to which Viktor is centrain that bringing a kid into the lab counts as but he wont say it. And another pair that looks at him with curiosity.

There is silence, no one really knows what to say or how to act. But Jayce ends reacting, leaving the experiment and going to help Viktor with his cane who is feeling a headache coming.

"Hey Vik! long time no see, how's your house?"

Honestly? Viktor wants nothing more than to go back in time and insist that he is fine and does not need rest. Maybe like that he would have stayed with Jayce and prevent...this.

But time travel is something that is still on the making, so back to the main point.

Viktor just gives out the most tired look, then turns to a near chair, sits and taking his coffee simple says "Explain"

Becuase if there is something he has come to learn while dating and loving Jayce is that nothing should suprise him (and yet Jayce still manages to do it) and also, is better to ask upfront than to wait for him to talk up. Viktor can still remember that one time he found a big (illegal no less) plant at his home and Jayce ignored it for two hours till he asked.

"Well you see, its really funny actually..."

"Jayce...."

"Alright..., so I took a walk around campus and saw some...suspicious individuals and well lets say I was not very discrete"

Viktor can just imagine the scene

"And they saw me and ran but I chased after them"

Stupid move Viktor thinks

"And then they trow me this kid at me, i mean what could I have done? So i took them home, gave them a warm meal and a bath" Jayce ends sounding a bit too proud of himself.

"Jayce you...you stole a kid?" Viktor asks because he is confused "And did not report the incident?"

"Uh well i was going too but then (Y/N) started to wonder around so i kind of forgot..."

"(Y/N?" Viktor asks and sees you peeking out from behind the big desk.

"Yes! Thats their name, im not sure about much more, only that they like chocolate and blue stuff"

Viktor ends in silence for various minutes. You must be an orphan he concludes, an orphan from the undercity, who had no other choice but to follow a gang in order to survive. He tries to calculate your age but its hard, you have been not eating well, thats clear, and he can already see some bruises from the misstreatment of the undercity.

Being raised by parents or family its a luxury after all.

"Jayce you cant just take a kid in" Viktor says and his heart almost breaks as he sees you run towards Jayce hugging his legs.

Noted, you may not talk but you understand, its clear you are more intelligent than what you leave to be at first.

Street smart maybe?

"But Viktor! I cant just leave them" Jayce responds picking you up. "If they return to the undercity i dont think they will make it"

Jayce sees how you push your head against his chest and smiles softly at you.

"And we cant leaven them at an orphan home! I have read of these places, they suck"

Viktor must agree, its not like he comes from one but knows well that lots of kids ends being sold off...

"Alright and whats your plan?" Viktor asks "Do you even know what it means to raise a kid, or how? What about me? Were you going to consulte me?"

He can see the pain in Jayce eyes at his last sentence. "Of course I was! I was just thinking of a...well a good moment"

"Because bringing them to the lab was the perfect idea"

"I could not leave them at home! I mean i tried but- they would not let go of my leg, i think they have some type of trauma..."

Viktor takes another deep breath, Jayce kidness and heart knows no limits.

"Besides you did say you wanted to help the peopel from the undercity"

"This is different, we are talking about raising! adopting a kid!"

"So you are considering?" Jayce asks in the most hopeful tone ever.

Viktor just lets out another breath.

"Well, its not like they can go back and yes, orphan homes sucks" Viktor responds. "But we need to do this right. And i mean legally"

Jayce nods and all of him lights up like he has discover a new thing. He goes to Viktor carefully managing (Y/N) by his hands and leans down to peak Viktor's lips.

"Yes!! Totally! I will talk to Mel about it, im sure she can move some contacts for this" Jayce says and Viktor can see his brain making more and more plans.

"They also need clothes, and we should think of getting them into school" Viktor adds standing up with his cane and going closer. He can see (Y/N) eyes and cant denied how it makes his heart melts.

"Dad?" Its what you say looking at Viktor, then you look at Jayce "Mom?"

Jayce smiles and nods while Viktor is left without words. "Yes! We are your mom and dad now" he says pointing at him then at Viktor.

"Family?"

Jayce nods again

"...Chocolate?" You asks once more

"Alright thats all, if they eat too much sugar this place will be a disaster, you do remember we have dangerous things in here, right?"

Jayce nods at Viktor then whispers to you "We will get chocolate once we end work"

Viktor snorts then moves to his desk to finally start working and also to let his mind register everything. He hears the doors closing imagining Jayce went with you to talk to Mel.

But no, he feels a pull at his trousers and looks down at you who looks up at him extending your arms

"Dad! Up!"

Viktor does as told pulling you on his lap and passing you some papper and a pen. Both fall in a comfortable silence.

And Viktor thinks, this is something he can totally get used to.

oki i know we've all just chosen to accept that beatings are a part of demon mating culture and like, i dont think thats 100% wrong, but also thinking about linguang-jun's reaction to seeing shang qinghua beaten at the ascension incident, im kinda hesitant to fall into it 100%

oki my biggest defense for it being a demon-culture thing is that sha hualing didn't show any disagreement when mobei jun suggested "three beatings a day" in that particularly hilarious conversation, but that's honestly pretty thin. we know that she loves binghe and she never makes any attempt to fight him or to have him fight her. if anything, she strives to avoid it

there's also the possibility that the 'beating' that linguang-jun witnessed the conclusion of was a particularly unromantic one via demon standards. he saw shang qinghua and said "oh you were clearly displeased with him" so mayyybbee there's something to the pattern of bruises that speaks to intent but again, that's pretty thin

so might i suggest, from my humble little insane brain, that rather than beatings being a demon-culture thing, mobei jun is just fucking weird

im not even saying that mobei jun is a sadist (altho def not opposed to that), im saying that my socially awkward icy demon lord just straight up has no good concept of how to get the attention of his intended and this is sincerely his best effort. there's no research, no demon custom, no human custom, it's just mobei jun desperately screaming "look at meeeeeee pleaaassseeee" in his own extremely unique way that fucking no one understands

i would defend that this is likely due to his fucked up childhood and trust issues. like maybe linguang-jun isolated him to such an extent that mobei-jun winds up relatively divorced from his own culture for courting and doesnt even fucking know the first thing about it. maybe he has some twisted history of "look the only time i was shown affection was during martial training, which were basically beatings, so beatings = affection, yeah?" or maybe he's just so stupid and desperate that he has no fucking idea and no real plan, he's just trying to get shang qinghua's attention by any means necessary

i sort of like a mixture of all of the above. like linguang jun was the only person who showed him more typical signs of affection, and that was the prelude to betrayal. so mobei jun doesnt trust those types of affectionate gestures. but when he received martial training, either from his uncle or in one of the handful of times he'd seen his father, it was at least useful. like he can remember getting beaten and know there was an honesty to it. beating him made him stronger, being strong helped him to survive, it was the truest affection he's received in his life. and look, mobei jun hasn't exactly put all of that together all of that in as many words, but the effect is long lasting. and not all of shang qinghua's beatings were out of affection either. ultimately, there's this suspicious as fuck cultivator who's groveling at his feet and mobei-jun isnt exactly keen on humanity to begin with. and with shang qinghua prone to more typical shows of affection, the way his uncle was before the Betrayal? he's not going to be tricked again! he'll beat the human into submission to prove that he's strong and he's not a small defenseless child anymore who can be so ruthlessly abandoned! but then he really does start to develop feelings for shang qinghua and really does want his attention and qinghua simply wont look at him. sure, he'll throw out a million words of groveling and acting pathetic, but what does any of that even fucking mean?! does qinghua only see him as a king? does qinghua even see him as that or is he waiting for a chance to betray him? how can he get shang qinghua's attention? how can he keep him? and so he thinks about his only fond memories of 'affection' and starts the habit of beating qinghua lightly three times a day. it's gotta work. it totally has to work. it MUST be working, bc qinghua just told the demon emperor that acting pathetic is a way of showing affection!!! SO CLEARLY QINGHUA MUST LOOK AT HIM NOW RIGHT?!!? but their relationship just doesnt seem to be progressing and after the qinghua saves him from falling, mobei jun now has a brand new "height of being show affection" memory to cling to but its... very much the opposite of his memories of being beaten. and a whole lot better too. being caught by shang qinghua and protected in that way has his heart thudding every time he remembers it and suddenly beating qinghua has lost its appeal. how can he do something for qinghua that matches that feeling??? because now it feels poultry to offer qinghua mere beatings when those barely even seem enjoyable for qinghua anyway??? and he doesnt particularly enjoy qinghua acting pathetic for him either, even if he knows theres affection behind the gesture, and qinghua always acts extra pathetic during beatings so thats another reason to lay off. so mobei jun is in the middle of contemplating this shit and stops beating qinghua so much when suddenly its time for his ascension ceremony and he drags qinghua there with him and now qinghua is talking about leaving him and mobei jun's heart just about shatters. is it because he laid off on the beatings? is it because qinghua was always planning to betray him, the way he always feared? is it because mobei jun misread this whole thing? in front of his dead fathers door, a man who never gave much of a fuck about him, while anticipating the arrival of his horrible uncle, vulnerable and reminded of every reason he's never trusted traditional shows of intimacy and so he tells qinghua to fuck off, beats him without any affectionate intentions, and greets his uncle in heartbroken misery. but then qinghua COMES BACK WHEN HE NEEDS HIM and he apparently always hated the beatings which is a blow but also now QINGHUA IS LEAVING HIM AGAIN AND THIS IS HELL, MOBEI IS IN HELL RN.

and not to mention, he witnessed linguang-jun beating shang qinghua and suddenly, he doesnt even know why he ever thought beatings were all that affectionate either because this is horrible and he hates it and mobei jun is Not Equipped To Cope With Guilt, it's not something he's been trained in and he is not coping with ANY of this well tbh, not his uncle, not his heartbreak, and he just wants the familiarity of shang qinghua's normal pathetic behavior. something normal. something to ground him. but shang qinghua is not normal right now and he's still planning to LEAVE and mobei jun is all panic, no thoughts. and now shang qinghua is saying shit like "you only beat me cuz i was easy-going and weak" and ow? that hurts? and then shang qinghua is saying he was only ever indulging mobei jun and OW? so now he's trying to find qinghua and the entire time his mind is a complete mess of emotions because was he wrong all this time and qinghua cannot be gone, thats unacceptable, and what can he offer to make qinghua stay? how can he possibly not lose this person?? and the best he can think of is to let qinghua hurt him in return, let him get his licks in, and maybe that will help

but shang qinghua doesnt hit him when offered and qinghua seems a bit scared of him and for the first time ever that seems kinda fucking awful and mobei jun is out of his depth, but the warmth he feels when shang qinghua wont hit him is really... something. and maybe theres a lot more shows of affection he should be learning, like the feeling when someone could hit you but chooses not to. and look, he's starting from abysmal standards. and yeah, when shang qinghua suggests he cook for him that sounds weird and demeaning and mobei jun instinctively wants to turn it down

This was a problem because you had been nursing the biggest crush on Lynette’s brother since you met her—and it’s been years. The color of his eyes, the softness of his hair, the crinkle of his eyes as he smiles—

“I’m telling her I wish she were here instead,” you said, hiding your screen from his sharp eyes.

Lyney wasn’t fazed at all. He matched your steps and easily walked alongside you, his lips stretched into a wide grin. He was so suspiciously happy today.

“Are we going to take the bus there?” Lyney asked, his arms still brushing against yours. His chin was tucked in his windbreaker, muffling his words a little. He looked a little red—did he have a fever as well?

“I guess so,” you said, dragging your gaze away from the sight. You could hear your heartbeat racing.

Lyney’s smile softened, then gestured at the bus stop bench. “It’s still early. Let’s sit over there.”

It was empty, yet when you sat at the far edge, Lyney still cozied up beside you. Seeking refuge, you hid your face further in the safety of your hoodie. This was bad. Lynette rarely got sick; this was your first time alone with Lyney, and you didn’t know how to act.

When you glanced at him, Lyney seemed content with the silence. You weren’t—you could hear the loud thumps of your chest, and soon enough, Lyney would notice it, too.

You pulled out your earphones and swiped to the highest volume possible, ear damage be damned. You were not going to survive today. You’re going to embarrass yourself and make a fool of your impressions, and Lyney would get weirded out and avoid you for the rest of his life.

Your throat made some sort of warbling deflated noise as music drowned out your heartbeat, but not your thoughts. Why was Lyney so warm? Even with layers of clothing, you could feel the heat of his skin, and it was driving you mad. You wanted nothing but to curl into it like a cat with sunlight. Why did Lynette have to get sick while you were still hopelessly infatuated with her brother?

Abruptly, Lyney’s head found its way to your shoulder. Stunned, you sucked in a breath, overwhelmed with all the sensations. Your five senses were being violated left and right—all you could see, hear, and touch was Lyney.

He reached his hand out expectantly. You made a noise of confusion, then belatedly realized what he was pointing at. Careful not to jostle him, you plucked an earphone and gently placed it in his ear. Lyney flinched.

“This is loud,” Lyney chuckled, but he didn’t ask you to mess with the volume. He laid back down with his weight and stayed there, unaware of how your face was a flaming mess.

Your eyes slipped to your lap, feeling shy. From this angle, it was hard to tell what Lyney was looking at, but you could feel his smile. It could be Lyney’s unnaturally warm body heat or your burning embarrassment, but— maybe you were starting to feel feverish as well.

Lyney snuggled closer. You sighed and resigned yourself to a long day.

Okay so lemme start with the fact that this would probably be filled with messy dating drama and shit because That is what working in customer service is Its JUST relationship drama Anyways so

Lemme start with the fact that The Dark Urge and Gortash are that couple which has been on the manager team since the fucking franchisee started the place. Like these mfs are the OGs But like EVERYONE knows that one of them was on the manager team first and the other joined after and suspiciously got on the manager team right after starting to hook up with the other Thing is, none of the other OGs work there anymore so nobody remembers which one of them was there first Anyways, Durge is the lead manager and Gortash is the deputy lead Theyre scary Durge totally started out as a standard crew member who probably flunked out of college/high school and didnt have any other prospects While Gortash totally has a business/engineering degree and originally wanted this only as a part time thing Anyways To anyone employed here, they´re enemies number 1

So, Orin? Orin is Durge´s niece who´s almost the same age as them because their sister/Orin´s mom is waaaaaaaaaaay older Orin probably got into some trouble with the law and couldnt get a job so Durge begrudgingly got her a job at the joint Orin brought her at the time girlfriend, Minthara, with her, but they broke up eventually… And even tho Orin really wanted Durge to fire Minthara after that… She was just way too competent, so theyre stuck working together Orin is totally a night shifter/closer. They cannot have her talking to the customers and shes dangerous in the kitchen so she just does maintenance and is surprisingly good at it Minthara started out as a closer with Orin, but eventually got noticed as a great worker, so she got moved to afternoon shifts and eventually became a barista. For Orin, this is her only job, she doesnt attend college even though she´s enrolled in one For Minthara this started out as a bet with her parents that she (a nepo baby) can survive at a normal job and then she eventually started to like the part time job so she stayed

Astarion and Karlach are another set of night shifters. They´re the prime closer material, they smoke behind the restaurant, they drink on shift sometimes and they get on their higher ups nerves But they´re also the only ones who are okay doing the job and the only ones who do it well Astarion is a law student but got a part time job mostly to not have to spend time at home (still not sure how i wanna go about Cazador in this AU but hes probably an adoptive father or something like that to Astarion) He HATES his job, but he hates spending time at home more And he also likes his colleagues… mostly Karlach has mad beef with Gortash because he keeps schedulling her at times that dont work for her, he constantly has issues with her closing duties, and is just all around a massive fucking dick to her for no reason He also acts all friendly in person but the second he messages the work group chat he´s off the rails with the way he adresses the night shifters specifically SOMEHOW THO Orin is never one of the night shifters complained about even tho she doesnt do shit

Anyways! Wyll! Wyll is the son of the owner, who started college in the city and it only made sense for him to work at a business owned by his dad, plus it makes it far easier for Ulder to know whats going on internally He got on the manager team quite quickly. A lot of the people complain it has to be nepotism but its genuinely his skills with both people and in the job itself He´s also the manager you can run to whenever you need anything and he´ll have your back He´s also really laid back and goes with the flow When he became a manager he mostly worked morning shifts so he didnt really know the night shifters and had a stupid beef with them over forgetting to do simple things, that´s also why he didnt like Karlach and Astarion in the beginning at all, but eventually, when he became a mainly night shift manager, he got far closer to them and even drives them home usually.

Shadowheart is a Customer Experience Leader and she only does it because nobody else wanted to. She doesn´t really like talking to the customers, but she does quite like the added pay and free coffee so she begrudgingly tries. She mostly keeps the position because she´s really good with kids, she spends a lot of time in playland, and she often spends her free time between work and college (psychology major) making colouring pages for the kids and preparing small events for them

Now on the other side of that we have Gale, who is also a Customer Experience Leader but he actually does the more professional and -helping customers- side of the job (that also means cleaning up vomit lol lmao) He studies astrophysics in college, but somehow manages to get absolutely stellar grades while also selling the most merchendise and always winning in charity sale competitions

Lae´zel is a forever Kitchen leader/Initiator She just got home from military training and hasn´t been able to get into college yet so she´s spending her gap year here. She is MAD efficient, always has the kitchen under control and does not deal with bullshit. There will never be a single thing out of place and she will yell "CENTER, GOD DAMMIT" when the assembler doesnt put shit on the bun the right way

Halsin is another part time barista, him and Minthara constantly beef over their café closing duties and they will roast (get it) each other´s latté art Hes in college for veterinary care and he also spends his free time helping out at an animal sanctuary

I've had an idea that i really like but probably won't write for a while (or maybe never) where iruma is very observant and slightly manipulative but like as a survival method

Like he find out his parents sold him and he doesn't really care about that part. They weren't that great anyways, but he needed a legal gaurdian and didn't know anyone who could forge an identity for him anyways

He sees that he's been sold to a demon, and he feels conflicted. On one hand that is a very bad idea and would be completely reckless of him to agree with this, but on the other hand he's curious. Curious about demons and hell and are there any other creatures there? Do demons have tails and wings and horns? Which mythology was right about hell?

And maybe, maybe this could be another chance? At living a nice life? Maybe he doesn't need to wait until he's an adult to finally start living, maybe he doesn't need to stay in this world that turned it's back on him the minute he started walking. Maybe life could be better there, in hell

And it's not like he has anything to lose anyways. Except maybe for his life, but he's been gambling with it since the tender age of 1, so what's new in that?

And so he agrees, with the very stupid plan of attacking Sullivan and booking it the second they arrive at hell. He can't be that much stronger than a grizzly bear, right?

But then sullivan took him by surprise when he proposed to him that he becomes his, grandson? And oh how convenient is that? He wont have to hunt and build a shelter, or hide and defend against hell creatures. He sees this as an absolute win! (And he pushes down the memory of a gentle smile and graying hair on a nice spring day) (yes i want drama i want the word grandpa to be bitter sweet in this fic i dont want him to just accept sullivan as family i want him to overcome and let go of the things he left behind)

And so he acts nice, he acts sweet and bubbly and just the right character that old people love seeing, and he doesn't expect sullivan to be fooled, but he seems to be playing along with him so iruma will act right. He'll act nice until he finds a safer place to be.

Opera is suspicious of him, but they're just a bodygaurd so as long as sullivan wants him around, they won't do anything about him

And then iruma finds out he's going to school, and he feels both excited and annoyed. Excited because school is the perfect place to learn about this world, and annoyed because kids his age are annoying. They never understood him, never felt comfortable around him. Always whispered behind his back about how he was weird and would sometimes go feral and attack other students (they took his hard earned money and said it's no big deal and we'll pay you back later~)

So, school. The uniform looked interesting, it was different. There is a lot of diversity among demons. No one looked at him for too long, he blended in just fine, everything was going alright

Until his new grandpa put the spotlight on him

And made him say the speech instead of another student (favoritism is never a good thing)

And gave a very dangerous spell to cast without telling him how dangerous it was

And got him into trouble with his new teachers

And the freshmen representative came to fight him

What a wonderful first day

And so they fight, iruma dodges because that's a whole new species who could be extremely durable, too hot for his touch especially qith the fire floating around him, so best not test his luck

He keeps dodging, azz gets nad and iruma saves the girl who i can't remember her name, he german suplex azz and gains azz's loyalty

But Iruma doesn't trust this. No one changes so quickly. Azz is definitely scheming something, lowering his gaurd only to stab him in the back

But calling him out is dangerous, and with azz being so close it'd be dangerous, but easier to keep his eyes on him

And so he doesn't shy from azz's approaches (except he disappears into thin air whenever anyone attempts to put him in the spotlight) he'll play along with azz until he can safely cut him out of his life

Imagine getting threatened and blackmailed by the US gov. that if you didnt do what they said they would find your loved one and imprison them and send them off to people that would likely torture and kill them... and the US gov. wants you to join a terror cell your college friend who joined after falling into despair when his wife was killed in an attack by the US military while she was shopping... But your friend is just some guy and he doesnt really want to hurt anyone in an attack and has second thoughts but you have to convince him to go through with it so some stolen c4 can be found. But you feel guilty when your in the van with all the c4 about to go through with the attack so you tell your friend that youre working for the US gov to save your loved one but you want your friend to be able to escape. And then your friend puts a gun in your face and yells at you for betraying them and convincing him to go through with this attack he hadnt wanted to do but then turning the gun on himself, killing himself in front of you. Then the US gov says good work here are some tickets, also were gonna cremate him no worries, but he cant be cremated so you stay an extra day and make sure he gets a proper burial. Then at the airport the next day after the funeral you get taken in because some white lady you asked to watch your bag for a moment reported you to security for looking suspicious. But then the plane you DO get on crashes on a mysterious fucked up island where youre immediately attacked by some redneck who thinks you crashed the plane because of the airport security situation.

Thats how Sayid and Sawyers relationship started. Way to go Shannon... your most lasting impact.

Sawyer gets loose and fights Sayid and ends up with a knife in his arm and almost dying. (Keamy coulda learned a lesson or two if he watched this episode. Dont come at Sayid if theres a sharp object within his grasp. It might end up stuck in your arm (or armpit in his case))

Sayid banishes himself cuz he feels guilty about Sawyer but comes back after his adventure with Danielle. Sawyer has some fun at his expense.

Sayid explains the anatomy of the bomb and Sawyer yanks the wires out in a way he thinks he needs to per Sayids explanation. He fails. Sayid takes the bomb, dying in the process, and gives the rest a chance to survive the sub sinking. (Sawyer hates it so fucking much. Its actually kinda terrible.)

No more pics. BUT... pretty sure thats the last time they have any major interaction anyways. (Aside from the flashsideways where cop Sawyer (of course hes a fuckin cop) hunts Sayid down and arrests him. Which is terrible and I hate it.)

A mixed bag really.

(They would be fun if it werent for the horrors. And also the writers just not letting their relationship have any sort of satisfying end... how you gonna add such a nuanced situation with Sayid and his friend but then never address any of the racism Sayid faces from others (mostly Sawyer (and Shannon))

Carrot

Kyuki likely wouldn't try to help someone unless they were pushed to do so by someone else. They aren't the best at comforting.

This question is somewhat difficult to answer because Kyuki has no real desire to help other people. Not at the moment, at least. They have a pretty selfish mindset.

5. Has your OC ever been involved in farming or agriculture? What is their view of food production in society? Is it something they understand and value? Or do they make little connection between the food they eat and the labour required to produce it?

I’ve mentioned this before, but Kyuki largely lives in an urban area because it’s safer to live amongst humans. They’ve never really had the chance to be introduced to agriculture outside of the occasional potted plants. They know humans make the food, but they don’t think too hard about where it comes from.

Food is mostly just a pleasure to Kyuki. They enjoy eating, but they dont care where it comes from. They don’t hold a strong value for it

(Funny enough, this actually puts them at odds with Rosa at times, who’s almost the complete opposite in this regard)

2. Does your OC find it easy to believe that they are loved? Or are they suspicious of ulterior motives?

Ohhhh Kyuki is suspicious. The only sort of love they can accept is the frenemy sort of love where you constantly insult and bully each other. That's why they get along with Tai.

Any genuine show of affection tends to leave them a little jarred. They've only ever allowed one person to show them affection and they died (:

Kyuki does not know how to cook for the life of him and if they did, they would be eating all of that themself. They are a greedy little food snatcher that will mooch off others and take from their plates if they're not looking

You know those signs that warn you about feeding animals because they will come back for more and will usually be demanding dicks about it? That's Kyuki.

Kyuki's number one goal is self preservation. They want to survive long enough to mature and fend for themself against other creatures. This means they definitely need to be pushed to take more risks. They'll act cocky and like they're the strongest around, but they're quite the scaredy-fox when facing actual danger or new challenges.

3. What makes your OC feel rejuvenated after a particularly difficult or exhausting time? A hot bath? A cold drink? A bout of particularly vigorous lovemaking? Or just a nice long sleep?

Get this fox a nice bed and a bath and they will melt. Even if they survive just fine living on a roof in the middle of the city, they've never had the chance to feel any real luxury.

Also, I love this question. Yeah, sex could probably make them feel better too, especially if they get a bed and bath with that

5. Does your OC feel energized by spending time with others? Do they struggle when alone for extended periods? Or do they find themselves depleted by too much social interaction and often find themselves in need of some time by themselves?

Kyuki is pretty neutral in this regard. They're generally an ambivert. Socializing doesn't exactly drain them, but it doesn't rejuvenate them either. They live on their own and enjoy that, but also gain a lot of entertainment from spending time with others and messing with them.

They're not nearly as strong or smart as they thought.

When it comes to power, Kitsune are a curious species. When they're centuries old and fully mature, they're just below gods in terms of magical prowess. But, their young are incredibly weak at birth and slow to mature. This means the mortality rate will decrease the older a kitsune grows.

Ordinary monsters, spirits, or creatures that have little more power than the average human are not able to tell how old or powerful individual kitsune are. This means they tend to avoid any kitsune, no matter their age. This can make for quite the rude awakening when a young naive kitsune encounters something that is more powerful than them and is more than willing to get rid of them

2. Has your OC any secrets which they keep from others? Are these kept only from those outside their inner circle? Or are there some secrets to which none but they are privy?

Kyuki is generally secretive about his life. To be fair, not many could relate to them in particular. They can't exactly tell humans about their life and other magical beings tend to dislike and distrust kitsune.

But even to friends like Tai, they refuse to say anything about their younger years. No one gets to know what happened to them, or their only friend

3. Does your OC have some feelings that they push down deep within themselves? Perhaps feelings of resentment? Or pangs of grief? Or burning sexual desires? Or do their emotions constantly come bubbling to the surface regardless of any efforts they might make to suppress them?

Kyuki will openly express disdain, anger, annoyance, and most positive emotions but do not every try to get them to open up about their weaknesses and trauma.

They are happy to announce when people piss them off or do something good for them, but they will die before admitting to feeling any grief or guilt

4. Is your OC talented at extracting secrets from others? Do they do so through charm and persuasion? Or through intimidation and force? Do what end do they seek this hidden knowledge? Purely for personal gain? To better understand the world? Or out of sheer nosiness?

Kyuki can be good at worming information out of people to an extent. They mostly do it for their own amusement, finding it fun to make people spill their secrets. Whether they use charm or intimidation entirely depends on who they're up against

5. What is something that your OC generally keeps from others - even those to whom they are close? Is this due to shame? Embarrassment? Fear of rejection? Or something nastier and darker by far?

Augh I feel like I've talked about this a lot in this ask, but the kitsune they used to be close with. I still haven't decided if they're just friends or if romantic feelings were involved, but either way they were incredibly close.

Aaaand then they died in front of Kyuki, traumatizing him into never wanting to leave his safe little urban city and making him unable to make real friends again. He's scared of real intimacy (:

Kyuki is very even-tempered unless you happen to poke particular nerves, then they'll lash out. Weaker magical creatures definitely walk on eggshells around him, as I mentioned before. They judge Kyuki as a kitsune first and an individual second, which is what they usually prefer. It means less people bother them.

2. Does your OC evince a great calm and focus during times of crisis or disaster? Can they keep their head amidst the clamor and chaos of an emergency situation? Or are they easily thrown into a panicked state?

In other people's emergencies they can stay calm. If the emergency directly effects them? Oh you bet they're freaking out.

Kyuki isn't one to show a lot of emotion, so they don't outwardly panic a lot. It's more likely they'll either get more irritable in their panic or they'll just freeze.

4. Does your OC ever deliberately wind themselves up by focussing on bad memories or bitter resentments? Do they do so in order to harness their anger that they might overcome a challenge? Or perhaps to aid them in combat? Or would such things only serve as a distraction from their work?

Kyuki tries to bury everything deeep down. Perhaps later in their character development they could use their pain to their own gain, but as for now it only upsets them

ive actually been very compelled to talk about this for a while, it might be a little long so ill break the page !! below will be some defining features of each version of harper :3

okie doke! harper is different in each of my versions. they share the same name and general information, as well as similar personalities, but it can vary throughout the universe they are in.

lets start with the most common on my blog, and my favorite :)

identity v !!

- seventeen years old

- born in 1881, i hc idv to be set in 1898 ( i did go on the wiki timeline to find this information... )

- they tend to be more shy and reserved, very limited to actual human interaction

- very poor at communication, often freezes up when put on the spot

- although they still work as a bard, playing songs for their town back home

- in the manor, they sometimes perform for the rest of the survivors

- they took a strong liking to andrew, tried to compliment him, proceeded to stutter their words and scurry off

- not a good look for them

- andrew took it as fear, and reserved himself further from them, very very much to harpers dismay (it only took emilys scolding to get him to realize they didnt mean harm)

- have been an unusual friendship since! theyre both shy and quiet, but andrew has a soft side that he can freely express around harper, and they feel as if they can trust him with their feelings :3 the best little/big sibling duo in the manor!

- they feel very drawn to tracy and emily, the two both very protecting of them (a bit babying, but theyll let it slide) they just enjoy their company, and often help out emily around the infirmary when survivors need any assistance.

genshin impact !!

- sixteen years old

- dont have an exact birth year ? idk what year genshin is man...

- dendro vision, living in mondstadt :)

- wields a bow, the only thing they can handle without dropping on their foot (a catalyst is far too confusing for them)

- again, a bard !! took inspiration from venti, and the two became close friends!

- still a bit reserved, but more adventurous and eager to go out and explore!!

- honorary member of bennys adventure team (i lvoe bennett... i couldnt help myslwf)

- them and razor chill out together and eat berries they find in the woods. eat berry. they love razor because they dont actually need to talk around him, the two love just sitting in silence for a while.

- is very suspicious of venti, is not stupid enough to believe that the statue of their god is NOT their best friend and the same guy who knows a bit too much about ancient history..

- i need to give them some credit, they arent stupid. just quick to act on impulse.

my dnd campaign!!

- fifteen years old

- is actually the earliest version of harper that was made, the origin!!!

- i had my first ever campaign with my friends who also didnt know how to play dnd, so we just goofed off for the most part

- i literally gave up every other skill they couldve had and negotiated with my dm to see if they could be able to magically play any instrument they found perfectly

- it worked, they can now play any instrument they want but at what cost.. they will crumble if they get slightly brushed over by the wind

- yeah so they ended up being very weak but its really no big deal

- they were on the verge of death twice, they had to sacrifice their pan flute in order to survive ( i think my dm hated them )

- sentient tree: 3, harper: 0

- they arent doing too good back there... anywya

I just genuinely dont understand why haein is so upset that hyunwoo would want a divorce like the way that they were barely even communicating, they werent happy, and her family treated him terribly and speaking of her family they wouldnt have lost their fortune if they had actually valued hyunwoo like if they had treated him like a family member and not some random man that haein married they wouldve been at least a little more cautious of eunseong bc hyunwoo had been warning them and telling them to make sure they do things correctly and they just keep ignoring him and being suspicious of the wrong person hyunwoo has been apart of that family for three years and at the first sign of something wrong they immediately turn their backs on him without even a second thought hes been working so hard at that company and they still didnt take him seriously and the grandpa pisses me off even more bc you believed some two bit bitty over your daughter AND son-in-law and she's been telling you something isnt right with that woman like he lowkey deserved to be scammed like this hell all of them with the exception of beomja deserved to be scammed like this the way they treated him was terrible especially that icky ass mother-in-law she definitely getting what she deserves bc not only is she terrible to hyunwoo shes also terrible to her own daughter like to blame your child for the death of your other child is down right diabolical shes a nasty woman she deserves this downfall and i dont even feel bad for soocheol losing his family hes an idiot that lacks critical thinking and he shouldve stopped his mom from treating his sister badly like he saw the way that woman was treating his sister and he was like at least its not me hello that is your sister and she didnt do anything but survive she cant take back what happened to their older brother and she wasnt in control of that situation either like she was just as likely to drown as her brother was only he managed to save her and die in her place

and going back to haein being upset with hyunwoo wanting to divorce her i just think it's also interesting bc while yes she loved him she did things behind his back so while we the audience knows that she broke down crying after the miscarriage of the baby and we know that she defended him when her family treated him bad (its been three years so we dont know if she was doing that the whole time or just recently started doing that) hyunwoo didnt know that so hyunwoo thought he was all alone to fend for himself to heal himself from the lost of their child and thats what gets me like yea you can say well he shouldve comforted her but how was he supposed to know she was breaking down crying when all hes seeing is her on a business phone call acting like she didnt just go through something traumatizing and how was he supposed to know that she was defending him when she'd let her family talk to him that way to his face and she would just stare ahead like they werent berating him he isnt a mind reader he cant and wont know her intentions if she doesnt display what shes intending to do and no im not blaming haein i get it people shut down and hyunwoo shouldve been more effective in communicating his feelings to her he shouldve sat her down and told her how certain things were making him feel but how can he do that if she also yells at him he was stepping on eggshells to not only appease her but also to appease his family-in-law idk it makes perfect sense to me why he'd want to divorce her

but with that said ik they love each other and honestly if by the end of this series and haein is still alive i really do hope that the two go into marriage counseling bc they cant communicate to save a life their whole marriage wouldve been fine if they had just sat down and talked to each other heck they mightve even been parents already if they had did that but instead they let it build between them and fester until resentment came and it's just crazy to me and again im not blaming haein im just looking at this from hyunwoo's perspective bc if it were me i'd feel the exact way nobody is a mind reader dont expect people to just know how you feel about them or a situation yes people have their different ways of showing love and affection and what not but every once in a while you have to show them how you feel and how certain things are affecting you and yea this goes for hyunwoo (even though again i think he was scared of her reaction to him telling her how he felt about things so..idk) but anyways so excited for this weeks episodes and im so happy that they both still want to be together so once they start actually communicating with each other (hopefully sometime soon) they'll think about getting back together they may even have a baby and i think that haeins family are going to start appreciating everything hyunwoo does for the family after this and actually treats him like a family member and not treat him like a random man off the streets of seoul lol and theyll care about the hyunwoo's family as well

My thoughts is that Luffy and Crocodile are on natural ground.

As in pirate natural ground. Could be enemy, could be ally but wont act on anything and just suspiciously side eye eachother to figure out the others motive.

Well atleast on Luffys pov.

Luffy very much love Vivi and Crocodile hurt her greatly, but he also helped ace and luffy in the war so probably still hate Crocodile over Alabasta but wont go for the throat if he meets crocodile again if you understand me.

Maybe he didnt really comment on Crocodile in the poster because Crocodile has gone back to be bit of a nobody to Luffy.

On Crocodile side we seen that he seem happy with Luffys news in the pappers.

I dont think he would act all bubbly if they meet again. But wont be at all hostile.

But I think Crocodile likes Luffy now more than Luffy likes Crocodile.

Its also funny that Luffy ruined Crocodiles plans, beat him up, had his affairs out in the open and getting arrested where he got boiled alive.

But meeting Luffy again he just go "water under the bridge". Literally no hatred.

And then theres Buggy that owned him money and Crocodile was ready to murder him over it.

I will lean on Luffy not knowing that Crocodile saved him at the end of the war.

Hes not one to ask about the past and only knew about Law saving him because he woke up on his ship.

I hope we get the backstory of Crocodile.

When we first meet him in Alabasta he trusted no one. Robin was the closest to him but he knew nothing about her and didnt want to know anything about her.

He would kill his best agents over small mistakes and would enjoy giving his enemies a slow death.

After being defeated he stopped caring, he didnt want to go with Ms. Goldenweek when she came to rescue everyone and rather went to Impel Down.

Getting Pluton seemed to be his last chance for something. After that failed he went numb about the world.

The idea of taking down Whitebeard was the only thing that made him want to get out again.

And that mission he suddenly abandoned to protect Ace and Luffy.

After the war he kept Daz Bones close, teamed up with Mihawk and got happy everytime there where news about Luffy.

Something made Crocodile care. And my question is what made him not care in the first place?

If we bring in crocomom/crocodad theory into this then I think Crocodile didnt have a say in the hiding of Luffy. Maybe he didnt even knew he was still alive.

So while Dragon wanted to fight for a better world that his son could live in, Crocodile become resentful and angry about the world and want to see it burn.

Crocodile is an entertaining villian and its hard to not wanting him succeed in what ever he is trying to do now.

When the strawhats meet Crocodile again I cant see it go out that well.

Robin still sees Crocodile as one of the worst enemies of her past. So she would not be happy meeting him again. Maybe even horrified.

Jinbie might be the one thats more positive about Crocodile because of Crocodiles last act in the war. But he did try to kill Whitebeard and it seemed like the other warlords was told of why Crocodile was arrested and had his warlord title taken away. So maybe not too positive about Crocodile.

But he would probably tell everyone that he and Luffy only survived the war because Crocodile got between them and Akainu.

The Strawhats that was at Alabasta would definitely be aggressive if Luffy doesnt tell them off or Jinbie mentioned them being saved by him.

The rest will just follow everyone else lead as they have no idea who Crocodile is exept a ex-warlord

(also about Robins crimes getting brushed under the rug is probably because we didnt really see her personally do anything against civilans and just against baroque works agents. And was just working for Crocodile to survive (as he seemed to be only one not selling her out to the marines)and trying to keep Oharas research alive.)

The worst part about trying to figure out what Crocodile's deal is that because he's so fucking irredeemably evil in Alabasta... Like... Yeah he's just irredeemably evil. Like I love him but he did cause countless casualties, a ton of pain and suffering and literally attempted to blow up a million people

Like no amount of theoretical "trying to do it to save his son from the Government" or "trying to stop the Government from hurting anyone else" or just "doing it for the greater good" is going to make him any less of a mass murderer

But also Robin absolutely 100% helped with all of that shit simply because she wanted to read the Poneglyph for herself.

No amount of her intending to betray Crocodile from the begining and sabotaging his plans erases the fact that Robin also caused countless people to starve to death and die in the civil war. Her sabotages only succeeded out of sheer luck, and only spared the lives of the people at the final battle. She has the blood of countless innocents on her hands. Because she wanted to read history.

But her crimes were swept under the rug because she has a sad backstory and her sabotages worked out just at the nick of time by sheer dumb luck

So Croc??? Just??? Is there a chance??? At all???

But also he did literally intend to sell Buggy into slavery

Like, fuck Buggy, but jesus

What's also killing me is that we like. Don't know what Luffy thinks of Crocodile right now. Which really is like. The thing that will decide how we, as the readers, are supposed to feel about Crocodile. Luffy is our POV

Like we don't know what Luffy's opinion of Crocodile is after he helped save Luffy (and spared Ace once) during the Summit War. Like Luffy clearly fucking hated the man in Impel Down and the two interactions they had during the War weren't like positive (in the sense that Luffy himself didn't think of the interactions as particularly positive. Defending Whitebeard from being attacked once and then being like "wait what HIM?!" when Crocodile defended Ace. To be fair, in the midst of the chaos, there wasn't much time to spend on Pondering On Such Things because Ace needed to be saved, and Oda goes out of his way to not show us what's going on inside Luffy's head, because it's all meant to be out in the open anyways. Regardless, these weren't like "yay it's Crocodile! :)" moments for Luffy is what I mean)

But also Luffy was very grateful of Law for saving his life and was willing to put his trust into Law for their alliance- of course, they weren't explicitly enemies to begin with, rivals at most, but still. Luffy respects those who help him.

But also Luffy grew during the timeskip. Like he's not that clueless anymore (like he finally understands Hancock is in love with him etc), and similarly Luffy gets that Buggy is an absolute loser now. But also Buggy did also help save Luffy's life (even if it was by accident), and while IDK if Luffy is aware of that, I don't think that helped improve Luffy's impression of Buggy

So like. The fuck does Luffy think of Crocodile, at this moment? Even with the Cross Guild reveal, he didn't even really comment on Croc and just focused his energy on being confused about Buggy being "the leader" of CG. IDK it feels almost intentional or something, that we don't know what Luffy thinks?? Especially since we did get Zoro's opinion on Mihawk in the situation?? Or am I delulu?? (Sidenote. I'd love to know what Robin would have to say about Crocodile helping save Luffy's life. What Jinbei might think of the final words Crocodile left him with before blasting them out of Akainu's reach. But mainly just Robin's thoughts)

Like IDK my best guess would be that Luffy still hates Crocodile just the same but is like grossed out by technically owing him one??? In the classic

-kinda way, you know? And that he'd be just kinda confused about it?

Because I can't fucking imagine Luffy being like "oh we're cool now" with Crocodile, let alone "Yay Crocodile :) He saved my life!". But also like. Luffy does kind of owe Croc one. Kind of. And Luffy is usually very respectful of that kind of thing. Aaaaaaaa???

(Also does. Does Luffy even know it was Crocodile who yeeted him and Jinbei out of Akainu's reach to begin with. 'Cause he was unconcious. Knocked the fuck out. Does. Does Luffy even know. Did anybody tell him???)

There's the reasonable part of me that knows Crocodile is an irredeemable evil dickbag and everything he has ever said and done up to the most recent chapters support that. He is too far gone.

And then there's the absolutely delulu part that loves a tragic villian who gets a heartwrenching redemption that's looking for any fucking sign that could indicate Crocodile could maybe be one
