How to write Main Character: Make them feel unique, make them feel different but also familiar. Like you can see them everywhere at the same time nowhere
Or we can go the easy road and make one with God complex
I feel like ppl don't really make good main characters anymore. They feel the same these days
Ehhh???
Honestly, people do make good main characters, you just have to look. Usually easier to find in non-YA novels, in my experience. They tend to feel more like fleshed-out *people* with their own life-experience than vessels for the reader to insert themselves into,
Which, ironically enough, makes it easier for me to relate to them, even if we are otherwise very different people. If you make your character a person, then inevitably, some of those experiences line up.
If anything, trying to walk that tightrope of having your character just "unique" enough to be interesting while still "relatable" enough as to appeal to as many people as possible is where things can get muddy and you end up failing either way.
I think it tends to affect some genres more than others, but at the end of the day... It really isn't as bad of an issue as people make it out to be. Like, yeah. Mediocre literature exists. Things tend to be mid more than they are especially good or bad.
And I think that's fine.
Plus, tastes vary. There's no doubt alot of stuff I love that people will look at and say is subpar. There is no objective way of looking at fiction-- We all come in with our own biases.
I'm going offtopic. Hope the first half of this reply made sense. Apologies if I've completely misunderstood your point.
I dunno, I just hear these complaints, and it makes me think of alot of those shitty writing guides that I used to eat up (often made by amateur writers themselves), which were very insistent on finding the "right" way to write and ruthlessly mocking anything "bad."
I don't think that's what you were going for, at all, but I still think it's very generalising, and I'm not sure what to make of it?

Tumblr media
Saturday night
As you reached for your favourite cherry red lipstick, you found yourself looking in the mirror. With a final dusting of powder to complete the look, you smiled at your reflection, pleased with how you looked.
You heard your favorite song, "All I Have To Do Is Dream", playing on the radio. Your friend, Betty, started singing along and fixing her soft blonde hair in the mirror next to you.
Saturday night was always your favorite night of the week. It was the time you would meet up with your group of friends. Before going out, hours would be spent in your room with the girls, getting ready and planning what to wear or do to look great and impress the boys.
"Are we running late?" You asked, still trying to decide between the yellow dress and the pink one.
"Don't worry" Betty replied, applying blush on her cheeks as she spoke. "We won't be late. Red is always the last to arrive, so we have plenty of time."
“By the way, guess what?” Nancy, the group rebel, chimed in as she looked through the row of perfumes on your dresser. “He’s bringing a new friend with him tonight.”
"Oh, great. Can’t wait." You rolled your eyes and forced a sarcastic smile.
Dealing with a new person was the last thing you needed tonight. Having to censor yourself and deal with some idiot ruining the mood was not something you were looking forward to.
“Oh, come on,” Nancy teased. “Don’t be such a downer. Maybe this new guy will actually be cool.”
You rolled your eyes again, scepticism all over your face. “Yeah, I’m sure he’ll be just as amazing as the last five.”
The diner on the main street was the perfect spot to kick off the night. Pretty much everyone from high school ended up there at some point, grabbing a bite to eat and exchanging the latest town gossip.
As you, Betty, and Nancy got in, your friends, who had already settled in at your usual booth, began clicking their tongues in a playful way, letting you know that you had kept them waiting.
You huffed in response.
"Awesome! We just need Red now. Once he shows up, we can order" Nick exclaimed chuckling, he was the most impatient one in our group. You could even hear his tummy rumbling from your position.
“Oh yeah, he's coming with this new guy. He is in a different class. I have never seen him, but I’m quite excited to have another pal to play football” Arthur, his best friend, added.
As the conversation dragged on, their voices all blended into background noise. You totally lost interest in what they were saying about him. You rolled your eyes, and let out a sigh, thinking to yourself, "Fantastic, the night is starting out real great”
Then the conversation went from gossip about who hooked up at the drive-in to that crazy incident where someone puked in the school's equipment storage. Then, the diner doors swung open, and everyone turned to see who was coming in.
You all watched as Red strolled in like he owned the place, swinging the doors open like some cowboy in a movie. Couldn’t miss that shaggy hair of his, he threw a look back at his buddy as they came in.
You became curious about how his friend looked. Behind Red, you could spot a guy of the same height as him, maybe a little bit taller, looking down while rearranging his slicked-back black hair. Did he have sideburns? The weirdest thing you had ever seen.
Then he glanced around, noticing everyone checking them out. That's when you got the full picture of him. He had on a black lace shirt and beige trousers, he was not exactly built like a tank but definitely in good shape. His face was friendly, with blue eyes, a straight nose leading to plush lips, and a perfect smile.
You watched as both guys walked towards your table. Your heart thumped loudly in your chest. It was obvious that he was the popular type, the kind who gets whatever he wants without a care in the world. You thought to yourself, "Are you kidding me? I can't be friends with a self-centred jerk like him. He's nothing but trouble."
Red greeted everyone and then turned to the new guy, introducing him. "Hey, guys, meet my buddy Elvis" pointing at him.
Elvis jumps in with a friendly smile, "Hi, nice to meet y'all."
Betty and Nancy were totally swooning, practically drooling over him. Pathetic.
You made a conscious decision to keep your mouth shut and avoid sharing any personal information. You knew from experience that people like him would take any juicy tidbit and use it to taunt and bully. Not this time. You'd remain poker-faced, giving him no ammunition to use against you.
Red glanced at your face, noticing your expression of indifference and annoyance. He chuckled slightly and told Elvis, "This is y/n. Don't mind her, she's just having a bad day."
Red gave you a quick knowing look, silently asking, "What's going on? You okay?"
“Well finally we are all together, now we can get some food!” Nick said interrupting. Then the whole group went to the queue to order, leaving you and Elvis alone.
Elvis flashed a friendly smile and took a seat beside you. Sensing your silence and avoiding eye contact, he asked casually “Just not in a real talkative mood tonight?”
“Just tired” You replied. Well, it wasn’t a lie. Just tired…of all the nonsense.
His smile faded slightly at your tone, but he pushed through, even though he could tell you were not being straight with him. “...uh huh...well, then what’s makin’ ya so shy?”
“Not shy! I just don’t want to talk” You insisted, your voice giving away your nerves.
He raised an eyebrow at your defensiveness but kept grinning, staying chill. “Oh yeah? Then why’d you let me sit here?”
You blushed, but then you glanced around, making him realize he had you cornered in the booth. With a hint of resignation, you shrugged and said, “Well, I didn’t exactly have a choice, did I?”
Elvis chuckled softly at your stubbornness. “‘Didn’t have a choice’, huh? Oh, darlin’…” He shook his head, clearly amused by your banter. Leaning back on the seat, he casually dropped his arm across the backrest, as if inviting you to relax. He smirked, seeing right through your tough act.
You sighed, resting your elbows on the table, your hands covering your face. Slightly uncomfortable under his gaze, you muttered, "Stop staring at me. I can feel it."
He grinned widely as he kept staring at you, tilting his head and licking his lips. His eyes slowly travelled down your body and then back up to your face. “Sorry darlin’, but you’re sitting right in my line of vision.”
"Fine then, I'll switch seats," you muttered.
You moved to the other side of the booth and crossed your arms, determined not to look at him. However, whenever you did glance his way, his smile and the dimple on his cheek caught your eye.
Your focus on his smile was interrupted when your friends returned to the table with the food, bringing your long-awaited vanilla milkshake.
"You know, baby... that ain't gonna change much. I still got a perfect view of ya." Elvis replied, he winked and smirked at you once more as he grabbed his burger.
The girls exchanged glances and started chatting and laughing to lighten the mood, discussing weekend plans and some random gossip.
You seemed to paying more attention to them than you are to Elvis, so he is left with only one goal in mind: get your attention. With a playful sparkle in his eye, he grabbed a chip and tossed it at you.
He peeked at you and saw you were still trying to ignore him, so he sighed and got an idea. He took a huge bite of his burger and chewed loudly, making all crazy eating sounds. He grinned when he saw your eyes narrow in annoyance.
“Oh, could you just stop?” You asked, rolling your eyes. The girls were watching the whole situation with wide eyes and trying to hold back their laughter, but it was getting harder by the second. They’ve never seen you so riled up before.
As Elvis munched on his burger like a wild beast, Betty couldn't help but chime in,“Lord, Elvis, could you chew any louder? I don’t think the folks in China heard you.” She teased, trying not to laugh.
He grinned wider, with a playful glint in his eyes “Stop what, darlin’? Can’t a guy enjoy his burger in peace?” He asked innocently, clearly enjoying your reaction to him.
Red chuckled and patted Elvis on the back “Yeah, buddy, you’re really making an entrance today.” He joked, knowing Elvis was annoying you on purpose.
Elvis grinned innocently and swallowed part of his burger with a satisfied sigh. He then grabbed his coke and slowly started sipping through the straw, still watching you waiting for some sort of reaction. The group, including Red, started shaking his head at Elvis’ acts.
Nancy attempted to redirect the conversation. "Elvis, tell us more about yourself!" she asked.
You tried your best to tune out Elvis and ignore the conversation that centered around him, but the group's interest kept drawing your attention back to him.
He glanced at Nancy and grinned, clearly loving the attention. Leaning back, he crossed his arm over his chest while sipping his coke. "Well, what do you ladies wanna know?" He glanced over at you, catching your reaction to Nancy's question.
Nancy looked at the others, then back to Elvis “Just, like, what are you into? Do you have a girlfriend? How old are you?” She asked with a playful tone, giggling with Betty.
Elvis chuckled at her question and looked over at you before replying to Nancy “I’m into a lot of things, music mostly. No, no girlfriend at the moment, not sure what kinda girl could keep up with me.” He answers, his lip curved into a smile knowing you were listening.
"No one, to be honest" You snapped back rudely at his answer.
Elvis raised an eyebrow and grinned, amused by your rudeness “No one, huh? Think I’d be too much for anyone to handle, darlin’?”
The girls smiled, enjoying the banter between you and Elvis. Betty pipes up, giggling “Well, it’s not like anyone’s been able to handle her so far, Elvis.”
Elvis couldn't help but chuckle as he glanced over at you, picking up on your growing grumpiness. "That's true, isn't it, baby?"
You shoot Betty a deadly look. "What the fuck are you doing, Betty?" you thought to yourself. This is exactly why you didn't want to open up about personal stuff. You just knew he was going to make fun of you now. As if it was not already bad enough that you haven't been kissed at this age.
“Yeah! She has never been kissed before, Elvis!” Betty stated amused talking as if she had known him for ages. She didn’t have the right to say that.
Elvis’ eyes widen slightly at her comment, surprised. He looked over at you, taking in your annoyed expression and biting his lip to keep from laughing.
“No way, honey. Really?” He asked, faking disbelief.
Red laughed from the other side of the table, finding amusing to see the interaction. "Yeah, can you believe it?" he said, knowing that Elvis was really enjoying this information.
Elvis paused for a moment, a sly smirk playing on his lips as he looked at you. "No wonder you're the way you are, darlin'. All pent-up frustration, huh?"He teased, knowing it would get a rise out of you.
You couldn't believe what you were hearing. The thing you'd been trying so hard to avoid had actually happened, and it was all thanks to Betty. You were so mad that you just blurted out, "Can you just shut up?" You could feel your face getting all red from being so frustrated.
Elvis jokingly pretended to zip his lips and leaned in to listen to the lively conversation, but his eyes kept looking at you. When he saw that your milkshake was almost gone, he mischievously shifted closer and checked if anyone was watching. Since everyone was busy talking, he sneakily grabbed your milkshake, took a big sip, and grinned at you.
He winked as he swallowed a mouthful of your milkshake, then smacked his lips together and looked at your shocked face “Hmm, tastes good” He teased, enjoying every second of this.
“What in the hell are you doing???” You asked, getting on your nerves.
Elvis took another sip of your milkshake, making an exaggerated noise of pleasure as he swallowed. He then sets the glass down and he leaned closer to you, his knee brushing up against yours. “Ya mad at me now, baby?” He asked in a low devilish voice.
"What's your deal?" you barked, feeling totally embarrassed in front of everyone by that jerk.
“What ya gonna do, honey? Be mad at me? Well, ya already are” He teased, laughing at your obvious irritation.
Red laughed along with Elvis “Looks like someone's not happy at all” he commented.
Elvis looked at Red and leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms “Can't blame me, though. S'not my fault she's such an easy target” He shot a wink at you, enjoying riling you up.
Red chuckled and nudged Elvis' shoulder
"You flirtin' with her or what?" He asked with a smirk.
Elvis cracked up and shook his head "Nah, nothing like that. I'm just havin' a little fun, seeing how much I can piss her off" He looked over at you, noticing your grumpy expression "But seriously, darlin’. You gotta lighten up a bit. You're gonna spoil the night for everyone else."
You didn't know what to say after he spoke, so you just looked down at the floor, trying to figure out what he meant. It seemed like he was intentionally trying to bother you, with no other intentions, and you couldn't shake the feeling that your friends were annoyed with you because you were in a bad mood. As everyone else continued chatting without realizing the tension between you and Elvis, you felt more and more like no one understood you.
Out of nowhere, you stood up from your seat, and rushed towards the diner exit, tears rolling down your face. It felt like all of your emotions came rushing out at once, and you couldn't hold them back any longer. It seemed like everyone was really into Elvis and his charming personality, and it seemed like they preferred him over you.
Elvis and the others watched in surprise as you suddenly ran off.
"Whoa whoa whoa, where's she goin'?" Nick asked, stunned
Elvis pushed the table away to get up, went to the window to see where you went, and said, "I, uh...... I'll go talk to her," Without waiting for a reply, he quickly left the diner and started looking around for you.
Elvis hurried to catch up to you, determined to reach you. He finally saw you walking away, looking really upset, and felt even guiltier with every step.
"Wait up!" he called out, struggling to keep up with your fast pace. When he finally caught up and started walking beside you, he said, “Damn, you're fast, baby" trying to catch his breath. He stared at you, seeing the tears rolling down your face, and asked "Hey... where ya goin’ all angry and upset?"
"Leave me alone!" You managed to cry out, your voice shaking and tears streaming down your face. You couldn't stop the hysterical sobs that wracked your body, making it hard to speak through your hiccups.
Elvis felt bad seeing the anger and tears in your eyes. He ran a hand through his hair, feeling guilty for making you feel this way.
"Nah, can't do that, sweetheart. I gotta talk to ya," he says firmly, walking beside you at your pace.
Elvis stuffed his hands into his pockets, looking down at the ground as he walked. He took a moment to gather his thoughts before speaking up.
“M’sorry, I shouldn't have pushed so much at the diner. I went too far." He looked up at you, his eyes sincere. He took a deep breath and continued, "I was just trying to have some fun, you know, trying to get a reaction out of you. It wasn't right. I didn't mean it. Can ya forgive me?"
Elvis looked at you, seeing the tears still streaming down your face. You couldn't bring yourself to speak.
“Hey, hey, please don't cry anymore. I'm really sorry, darlin’. You didn't deserve that”
He paused for a moment,
“But you're great, ya know? Feisty, stubborn, and damn pretty too” He added.
He looked concerned as he reached into his pocket and took out a tissue. Slowly, he wiped away your tears while gazing into your eyes. "I’ll buy you the whole damn diner, darlin’. Any milkshake flavour, as many as you want. Anything to see you smile”
You and Elvis made eye contact, and you could see regret in his eyes. He took a step back, giving you some room to breathe. Despite any assumptions you had about him, there he was, trying to help you through this tough time. You felt a little relieved, even if you didn't want to admit it. And you had to admit, the way the light was hitting his face was pretty captivating.
He noticed your silent sigh, and a hint of a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth
"Ya won't speak to me? No insults, no smart comeback? Am I that irresistible up close?" He teases, trying to lighten the mood
“Idiot…” you muttered, chuckling.
Elvis smiled widely, feeling a sense of relief to hear you chuckle. He tucks the tissue back into his pocket, still standing close to you.
"Ah, there it is. There's that feisty attitude I know" He teased, his eyes glimmering with mischief
You laughed at his response. “Well, the thing is, I didn’t expect anyone else to come with the group. And I had some personal stuff I didn’t want to share, like the fact that I haven’t been kissed… because I don’t want to hear some stranger making jokes and comments about it. I thought you might be that kind of jerk…” you said.
Elvis's expression softened as you mentioned your situation. He nodded and leaned against a nearby wall, stuffing his hands into his pockets again.
"I get it, darlin’. Sometimes ya just wanna keep things to yourself, especially when ya don't know the people you're with. I ain't tryin' to poke fun at yer troubles"
He looked at you again, his eyes holding a hint of vulnerability “So I hope ya don’t think too badly of me after this, darlin’”
Elvis took a deep breath and looked at you. He stepped closer, and before you knew it, he pulled you into a hug. You were a bit surprised at first, but as he pulled you close, you noticed the faint scent of his hair gel and the clean, woodsy scent of his cologne. He held you tightly, one hand resting on your waist while the other gently patted your back.
He whispered into your ear "M’really sorry, darlin’. For everything." As he hugged you tighter, he kept talking, "I've been focused on you the whole night, and I guess I let my dumb teasing get out of control." He paused, his face buried in the crook of your neck, and you could feel his warm breath against your skin, causing a slight shiver to run down your spine.
Your heart was racing. No one had ever given you such a warm hug. Feeling remorse, you said, "I'm sorry I didn't make you feel welcome either."
Elvis let out a soft chuckle against your neck, his chest vibrating with the sound. He kept his arms wrapped around you, not ready to let go just yet. "I deserved that. I was acting like a real sonofabitch" he said as he pulled back slightly to look you in the eyes.
"But I'm glad we're good now, baby. That's all I care about," he said with a tender smile, pinching your cheek.
He looked down at your face and saw the hint of a blush on your cheeks. His grin grew wider, and he couldn't resist teasing you a little more. "What's this? Is the tough girl feeling a bit flustered?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“You wish!!!” You let out, trying to hide your embarrassment.
Elvis laughed at your fast denial and crossed his arms "Aw, come on. You’re terrible at hiding it, darlin’."
He took a step closer, a smirk on his lips "I can practically hear your heart racing" he growled.
Elvis locked his piercing blue eyes onto your lips, drawing closer until his chest almost touched yours. Your heart quickened as you felt his nearness, his gaze fixed on your lips, inching closer to your face.
You closed your eyes, heart racing, waiting for a kiss. Your first kiss. Seconds ticked by, but nothing happened. Elvis didn't close the gap between you both. Instead, he just grinned wider, teasing you with that mischievous smile, inches away from your face, clearly enjoying your anticipation.
He left you staying like that for a second, then spoke, his voice low and amused “I knew it. You were hoping for a kiss, weren’t ya?”
"OH MY GOD, I JUST HATE YOU SO MUCH!!" Your cheeks flushed a deep shade of red, betraying your inner agitation.
Elvis bursted out laughing, bending over and clutching his stomach. Your annoyed look and outburst just made him laugh even harder.
"Oh, I love it when you get all riled up like that!" He managed to say between laughs.
You kept stomping away from Elvis, totally ticked off about what went down.
Elvis quickly got himself together, his laughter fading into a wide grin as he noticed your embarrassed expression. He hurried after you, catching up in just a few strides.
"Oh, don’t be mad now, darlin’. I was just having a bit of fun. Can't blame me for wanting to see your cute, flustered face"
As you kept walking, still grumbling about how much you ‘hate him’, Elvis walked beside you, his smile never leaving his lips. He listened to your muttered complaints, and suddenly his eyes sparkled with mischief.
Out of nowhere, he grabbed you by the waist and pulled you close to him. Before you had a chance to protest, he pressed his lips against yours in a swift, unexpected kiss.
The unexpected kiss left you speechless, your frustrated words stuck in your throat. Elvis enjoyed the sensation of your lips on his for a moment, then pulled back slightly to gaze into your eyes.
"You were saying something about hating me, baby?" He smirked, his voice filled with a smug satisfaction.
Your heart was racing, partly from surprise and partly from the lingering feeling of his kiss, but you attempted to stay composed. You shot him a glare, though there's no real anger in your eyes—just a touch of confusion.
Finally, you found your voice “You…..you idiot. Why’d you go and do that?”
Elvis chuckled, his hand still at your waist, holding you steady “Couldn’t help myself, darlin’. You looked too cute when you were all mad at me. I had to do something to shut you up”
He smiled, pulling you closer to him “Besides, you clearly enjoyed it” He teased, winking at you.
Your cheeks kept blushing, you didn't want to admit that you loved it. So, you gave him a little slap on his arm.
Elvis playfully gasped and rubbed his arm where you smacked him, still grinning. “Ouch! Feisty as always, baby” he teased, chuckling as he guided you back towards the diner.
“Alright, I guess I had that coming. But now, here’s the tough part. Chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla, or strawberry milkshake?” Elvis asked, raising his eyebrows up and down. God, he was really set on treating you to the whole diner, just like he promised.
“What about peanut butter?” You chuckled, feeling butterflies in your stomach watching Elvis holding your hand.
“Atta girl, you sure have a good taste, baby.”

His girls
Tumblr media
Daryl Dixon x Original female characters.
Two new girls find a dog, and their very handsome owner.
This is a 3rd person fic featuring my TWD self insert Sherry, and @murdadixon's Tabby. No xReader for this one.
🐺 🐺 🐺
Daryl couldn't find his dog.
No matter how he called or whistled around the street, the damn mutt would not show his face. So Daryl set out to find him by scent. He quickly caught on and followed his trail around the block, only to round the corner and find him in the front yard of the new arrivals.
He was belly up on the grass, wagging his tail and being cuddled and scratched by the two girls that Aaron had brought in yesterday on a quick one-man scout trip. As his partner he had gotten updated on the fact but he hadn't seen them in person yet.
But they were good with Dog, so that was a bonus. Now he wouldn't have to always ask Carol to babysit him if he went out for too long.
Daryl stepped up to the girls and cleared his throat, having them both snap their heads up and quickly remove their hands from the animal.
"We're sorry, sir!" The blonde one spoke fast, hands up in apology.
"Yeah. Didn't know he belonged to someone." The redhead added, mimicking the other's stance.
A low chuckle left the man before he spoke. "S'alrigh. He weren't respondin' but now I get why tha' is." He kept standing around with his hands in his pockets as he couldn't help but notice the way thw girls were staring him up and down.
"Ya wanna babysit 'em when I go out huntin'?" The two quickly agreed. Having a dog around would surely make settling into the new community a lot easier.
"Name's Daryl, by the way." They all exchanged names and Daryl gave them some more info on the community and names, together with descriptions of people to find in case they needed something and set off to prepare for his hunting trip.
Back inside the house the two were talking, guessing and questioning things about their new home, but also happily gushing over the very handsome dog owner from earlier.
Some time later a woman came by, offering to take them to the community's inventory space and let them pick out some clothes and necessities. "Hi, you're Carol, right?" The lady was happily greeted from the kitchen by the red haired woman, only for the other one to peek her head around the living room corner and chime in too. "Yeah! Daryl told us to find you if we needed anything."
Again, the duo was met with a kind smile but taken a little by surprise as one of them quipped. "He your husband?"
Carol put a hand to her mouth as she laughed. "Oh, no dear. He's my best friend. He came by to make sure I'd check in on you. See if you were doing okay while you wait on Deanna's word."
The girls ended up tagging along on a small tour of the community, being shown the larger important areas like the infirmary, inventory and the pantry. Before they went on their trek back to the house they went to pick up their needed items.
Later that day they were met by Deanna, who officially welcomed them into the community and would be assigning them both a job in the upcoming days.
As the first week ended, Sherry, the blonde girl, had gotten a job at the inventory, repairing any damaged pieces of clothing that came in or patching up curtains, blankets and towels.
Tabby, the redhead had gotten a job at the pantry next door to help Olivia with her job that was becoming a little too much for just one person, making sure inventory was kept and no one took too much off the shelves.
The girls stayed together that way and quickly became a part of the community.
Thanks to quickly becoming friends with Daryl by dogsitting so often, they were given the option to live with him, since after Carol moved to the Kingdom, his house was almost empty anyways.
The three of them talked about it and agreed it'd work out fine and within the week after that they both moved in.
Two weeks in their new community and they were living with the gorgeous old man and his adorable dog.
"Don't think hitting the jackpot was still a thing during the apocalypse." Tabby called from the stovetop.
"Besides stumbling on a truckload of food, you mean." Sherry called back from the couch, where she was frankensteining a warm hoodie out of old scraps.
The two laughed around together until Daryl came home, announcing he'd be leaving on a multiple day hunting trip. Something about seeing better at night with the full moon up.
The girls agreed to care for Dog while he was gone, and he brought back quite the amount of game.
And the next full moon he left again, and brought back a nice haul.
The next moon, the same tale.
They also learned he was allergic to chocolate. Carol brought cookies on her visits and made sure to tell them not to eat the ones without chocolate since they were specifically made for Daryl.
"I'm pretty sure I saw him snack on a raw piece of squirrel when he was cutting one up last week." Tabby sat on the couch with her nose in a book.
"I'm almost entirely convinced he's a werewolf." Sherry shoved a notepad over the book.
"Look, all signs are there." Her voice was a little too excited, but the redhead had to admit her friend had a very clear analysis written down and all points did come together to the same conclusion.
"So, what now? You wanna sit him down and show him your notes?"
The blonde shrugged. "I mean, why not?"
The worst thing that could happen was her being wrong and things being awkward for a while. But she was so convinced she was being right that she couldn't see that happen.
So the next time he got ready for his hunting trip Sherry spoke up.
"You know you can just tell us you're a werewolf, right? No need to use weird excuses for your full moon runs."
Daryl had stopped dead in his tracks at her words. Obsessively retracing his steps to figure out how they could have figured it out. But now his clearly panicked state gave him away, and sighed in defeat. "Aigh', how'dya figure it out?"
Before Sherry could talk, Tabby had jumped up. "Wait, for real?" She let out an excited squeal. "Show us, pleasee?"
Daryl took a step back, still stuck being caught so off guard by two women who only knew him for a few months.
"She means we'd love to see you be your real self, no need to hide when we're around. Snack on squirrels if you're hungry, we don't care." A notepad covered in detailed writing was handed to him and he looked it over. His brows raising with how impressed he was she had managed to gather all this info before coming to the right conclusion.
"M'still goin' on tha hunt. Talk after, yeah?" Two nods let him know it was all good, and he went out with a much more calm feeling this time around, knowing he'd have them waiting back at home no matter what.
So he hunted in the surrounding forest, now feeling like he was being truly useful and not disgusting for once.
Not that he had issues with being a werewolf, he just hated always having to be careful and hide it all the time.
But now he could be home whenever he wanted, even when his mind howled at him and he had a hard time hiding his claws and fangs.
He hunted more this run. Brought back two deer and a nice stash of rabbits and squirrels. He almost caught a boar too but he let it go to get a stray walker away from his deer.
Back home the two women had prepared him a nice meal as a peace offering. An apology for catching him so off guard before he left.
Never in his life had he felt so welcome, but this was his home now. Him and his two girls.
His girls.
No, the girls that he shared a home with. Not his girls.
But they were his girls. His mind told him so. That night in bed he dreamt. He watched as they cuddled up with Dog, giving him head scratches and belly rubs as his vision slowly distorted and he saw his own shifted self in place of his canine companion. The blonde rubbed her tits against his muzzle as the other stroked his cock as she rubbed herself on his thigh.
He woke up panting, feeling like he was about to shift. From a goddamn wet dream..
He spent longer in his downstairs bedroom that morning. Although they said he'd be food to walk around how he wanted, he didn't want his fangs to be on display or his claws to be out but no matter what he tried it wouldn't fade. At least he wasn't painfully hard anymore.
He gave himself a pep talk before heading up to the main floor and praying the girls were out already.
"Hey Dee, wow." Tabby gave the man a once over, seeing his clawed hand as he raked it through his messy hair and offering him the drink she had gotten for herself. "Rough night?"
Daryl only grumbled in response before downing the drink and heading out to the back porch for a smoke.
And of course there he ran into the other cause of his annoyance. Sherry happily cooing at his dog as she brushed out his tangled fur.
"You look like the full moon hasn't decided to leave just yet, dude. Why not sleep in?" She suggested as she followed his figure sitting down and lighting up a smoke and grumbling some more. He disliked speaking with his fangs out.
"You can always just shift all the way to let out the frustration. You know, like a reset button." It wasn't something he had thought of before, and was now contemplating to do so.
"Just let us watch. Tabby'd be over the moon."
Oh how he hated that they were getting what they wanted and it being good for him too.. But he agreed and led her back inside and calling Tabby over.
"S'yer lucky day I guess. Sit." And without question they sat.
In front of them Daryl had dropped to his knees and let the change take over. Deep, growling breaths filled the room as he became more beast than man in mere seconds and eventually was fully transformed. He watched his housemates on the couch as they stared, wide eyed and squirming. Thighs rubbing together as they stared. Downward?
His cock stood at full attention thanks to the source of his frustration.
But neither of the girls was staring in disgust.
No, the absolute opposite.
They were interested. Their arousal was clear as day and he wasn't entirely sure how to respond.
"Want help with that, big boy?"
"I'll go lock the doors."
Both women were on their feet within seconds as Daryl sat there, processing the whole situation but not really getting to before he was being touched all over. "Just move us to where you want us, yeah?" A soft nod let them know he understood as he laid on his back.
One large paw went to tug at Tabby's sweats as the other one pawed at Sherry's top.
The hint was clear as they undressed and waited for his next order.
Within moments he had them both settled like he saw in his dreams. His thigh soaked as one grinded herself down on it and a wet pair of tits against his muzzle, his thick tongue lapping at her nipples and a rough paw pad rubbing at her clothed pussy.
Their combined moans and the feeling of their hands around his shaft were so good it didn't last long before he spilled all over his stomach. He helped them both over the edge as well before relaxing back onto the floor and pulling them both close to him.
From that moment on his two housemates did become His girls. A mutual agreement between the three of them.
More fun was had whenever one of them had a bad day, or when they were all in the mood. In both human and shifted form neither of the girls backed down and had their fun with him.
He really had hit the jackpot.
He was almost done with the day, stepping onto his porch as he caught one of the girls' voice saying something very interesting.
He knew he shouldn't, bjt he couldn't help but eavesdrop
"Man.. I wish I could have his puppies." Tabby slumped on the couch, tired after a long workday.
"I mean, if you want I can carry it for ya?" Sherry came in too, offering her a plate of food. "Would you do that? Thought that shit scared you so much." The redhead happily chowed down on the meal, offering thanks between spoonfuls.
"Babies? Never in my life. Puppies? No problem with those." She offered her friend a kind smile. "Besides, that's what friends do. Being surrogate moms for their besties? We'll have to go ask around for a breast pump and a bottle though. So you can at least bottle feed the furball."
Daryl had a hard time containing his excitement, but managed to calmly smoke another cigarette before going into the house, pretending he didn't hear any of that.
Between then and the day Daryl left for his next full moon hunting trip Tabby and Sherry puzzled together a list of needed items, from vitamins to the breast pump and bottle, to maybe some nice stretchy pants or maternity clothes.
All while Daryl waited for them to ask him about the one thing that had been screwing with his focus for over a week now.
With his stuff packed and ready to leave he was stopped by a hand with a piece of paper smacked against his arm, a flushed Tabby beside him who hid her face behind her hair.
"W'sthis?" He took the paper and went to unfold but another smacked hand stopped him. "List for Sherry and me. Please open it when you're outside the walls, okay?"
Daryl mumbled something about strange women and their words, but he agreed and pocketed the paper. He kissed her goodbye and set out to find Sherry at her workplace before leaving on his trip.
Sherry was easily found in her workplace and was informed of the secret little list he was given, said his goodbyes and now left for the gates.
As soon as Daryl was out on the main road he stopped his bike and took the small paper from his pocket. Its contents had been mulling around in his mind ever since he touched it.
But he wouldn't have guessed this was how his girls would have played their cards.
The list was full of baby stuff. And underlined in red sat those two things he heard them talk about.
His hunting would have to be delayed for a bit. His first stop was Hilltop.
He thanked the baby doctor for his donation and caught up with Maggie before setting out again, leaving a large deer at their gate as a thanks that same night. He hunted and stashed his kills for the remainder of his time and took quick runs into nearby areas to scout for the listed items.
He had a large backpack with his girls' items and a good amount of meat gathered at the edge of the woods near the Alexandria gates.
His excitement to return home was clear as he returned earlier than usual, dropping the animals that hadn't been retrieved yet off at the pantry and heading for his house immediately after.
Welcomed by his girls he dumped the bag on the coffee table, right in front of them.
"Ya girls planned on askin' me nicely?"
It was clear they weren't gonna say a word, so he was just gonna ask a million yes or no questions even though he knew the answers already.
He found it crazy how they could so openly talk about it with each other but as soon as he asked they'd be all flustered and shy about it.
"So ya want pups." A set of nods meant yes.
"And yer too scared ta ask?" More nodding.
He gave his next question some thought. He wasn't needed in the community for the next two days as those were his given resting days. And since they were both home it meant they had nowhere to be either.
"Wanna head upstairs?"
Sherry shrugged and got up to follow while Tabby stayed behind.
"You too," Daryl stopped at the bottom of the stairs. "Yer as much part'a this as her."
Daryl treated his girls equally. Always making sure they got just as many kisses and cuddles. Naptime was always shared and he always made sure both of them were all the way asleep and comfortable before passing out in between them at night.
But of course he also made sure they both came at least twice, three times each before finishing himself. Twice ofcourse.
And that's how every moment they had together was spent for the next week. Up in the largest bedroom, round after round untill Tabby was too sore and fucked out, and Sherry was pregnant.
Daryl had permanently moved into the main house now, staying at their side whenever he wasn't out.
It was a known fact Daryl wasn't human, but that was all good as long as he stayed human within the walls and outside his home. And people had already started catching on about the two new girls being together with him as he never cared to hide  how he felt for them. Some found it weird and had their opinions, but they knew better than to voice them openly.
But now one of them was pregnant, and people were concerned about her.
Did she want it? Was it planned? Was it even healthy? Wasn't the other one jealous?
Those questions didn't last long, though. They faded quickly after a little incident at the pantry when Sherry, with her bump clearly visible by now, came to pick up some extra food and Tabby and her overheard whispers coming from others nearby.
Tabby was working so she could only kindly request they take their items and leave, but Sherry and her hormones weren't having it and snapped at them, making a bigger scene than necessary but not caring at all because someone dared to badmouth her family and she wasn't gonna let that slide.
She had rounded the shelf in seconds and snapped at the women.
"How about you keep your nose out of our business and spend more time with it up your husband's ass so he won't have to grope a different girl each week huh?"
Tabby hid a laugh behind her hands while the women loudly gasped at the insult.
The offended one huffed. "Well." She puffed out her chest and stood tall. "You two sleep with nasty monsters." She scoffed at the two as the other middle aged, probably high class before, woman backed her up with an even less insulting remark.
Now both of the girls laughed out loud. "Wow she really got us there." The sarcasm dripped off the words like venom. "Yeah, wow. Tabby, why didn't you tell me our man wasn't human?" Their laughs came from deep as they kept talking. "Our sweet, loyal beast." The emphasis on 'loyal' was strong, and a clear jab at the woman's cheating husband.
Daryl had long made his entrance to the scene, staying back with a wide grin on his face as he watched his girls stand up for themselves and tear into the other women with nothing but truths and observations.
Olivia had made her way into the pantry as well, now shooing both duos out of the door. At least Sherry got her items and Tabby now got the rest of the day off.
Their happy giggles continued as they stepped onto the street, Daryl joining them only seconds later. "Yer insane, the both of ya." He fell into step in between them and moved to kiss both their cheeks. "Thanks fer defendin' me. Them old hags dun' like me very much."
It was a fun but tiring event, and the three of them called dog upstairs with them and piled on the bed for cuddles and some much needed rest.
The next month and a half passed quickly. And with some careful communication the trio had made a trip to Hilltop and get an ultrasound done and got the greatest news.
Although it did spike Sherry's anxiety, she was over the moon when the screen showed not one, but two little squirmy pups. "Look at that! One little nugget for both of us in one go!" Tabby happily but cautiously hugged her friend as Daryl shared encouraging words and praise.
The way back home went by a lot quicker with the three all buzzing with excitement.
Luckily there wasn't much more waiting to be done as the last week approached fast.
Bedrest sucked a little less with a dog always at her side and two adorably concerned people in the house making sure she was doing okay. All the time. Up to the second her water broke.
When her contractions had started Daryl had sent Tabby to fetch some items they'd need from the infirmary and got back as fast as possible to not miss anything.
It took almost an entire day but eventually both pups were out and nursing.
With both pups asleep, Sherry laid in bed. She kept nodding off while she tried to focus on pumping some more milk. She didn't want to keep nursing them both and risk them not imprinting on Tabby as their mother.
Tabby, who laid next to her in bed, two pups snuggled against her bare skin.
Daryl was all over the place, cleaning up the mess and making sure there'd be enough food prepped and up for grabs. No matter how bad he wanted to lay in bed with his girls and pups, he was going to make sure every needed task was done before resting.
This went on for days. The girls spending all their time with the pups as Daryl made quick work of needed things and joined them afterwards.
He came from the kitchen with three bowls of stew balanced in his hands and set them out on the coffee table. They were still too hot to eat immediately so he took his time to settle down between his girls who were lovingly feeding their pups, both having picked their favorite momma.
They had really hit the jackpot here in their home in Alexandria.

hi toasty, i love your stats! i have a question for you that may be unanswerable, but do you have any insight into the phenomenon of x-reader fics on tumblr? i've noticed anecdotally for a while now that reader fics tend to have many more notes (like, thousands!) than their non-reader counterparts, and that they also seem to be mostly (?) posted in full here, rather than linking to ao3. (check the tags #wolverine fanfic vs #poolverine fanfic as an example). i know there is also reader fic posted on ao3, but i'm wondering whether anyone's done a qualitative or quantitative analysis of this (if that's even possible)? did tumblr just at some point become "the place to post reader fic"?
any insight welcome. blows my mind how there's like two entirely separate worlds of posting behavior/style happening here.
Hey! :) Thanks for the kind words and the interesting ask.
I don't have any data about xReader fic on tumblr (the only xReader-relevant data I think I have is from a 2019 analysis of Shipping on Wattpad vs. AO3 and FFN that looked at xReader prevalence in the archives at that time)..
However, I do have a couple recommendations for where to start finding out more about xReader fic (and where it gets posted):
Effie Sapurdis (interviewed by @fansplaining in Episode 221: Self-Inserts) is an Information & Media Studies researcher studying self-inserts. Effie has written a paper called Self-Insert Fanfiction as Digital Technology of the Self with this very promising abstract excerpt:
Then, drawing on a survey of self-insert fanfiction conducted across four platforms (Ao3, FF.net, Tumblr, and Wattpad), we explore how such works can be discovered, read, and engaged with, and we offer specific observations about self-insert subgenres, as drawn from a selection of these works.
I haven't read most of this paper, but a quick search for "Tumblr" revealed several passages that potentially relate to your question, including:
We observed that the keyword “Imagines” (i.e., with the -s) was most often appended to collections of “one-shot” stories, many of which were originally posted on the authors’ Tumblr accounts and were then “cross-posted” to Ao3 afterward.
(This is just one section -- there are other sections about other types of self-insert & xReader works). This passage highlights one possibility: perhaps many of the works you're seeing will eventually end up on an archive as well, possibly as part of one of those multi-chaptered fanwork that's a combination of many short works. But I don't know whether most people then go back and link to the archive version from the original Tumblr post.
Anyway, Effie's the expert here -- check out her work! :) I'll also throw this open to readers -- does anyone here have any other relevant data? (xReader writers and readers are also welcome to chime in and share their personal experiences and any patterns/trends they've noticed.)

He Must Have Been Seeing Things
Snape One Shot - NSFW
It was suggested to me to try writing one shots in first person instead of xreader since my dumb brain gets jealous writing that. So here is my first little one shot! It's a little scenario that I like to play out in my head sometimes 😅 NSWF below the page break
"So when are you going to ask my sister out?" Sirius asked casually as he took a sip of butterbeer.
Remus instantly spit his own drink out, and it dribbled haphazardly down his chin. "W-what?"
Sirius cackled.
"Sirius, enough. " I scolded.
Remus wiped the juice dripping from his chin with his sleeve.
"What? Is it so much to ask that my sister and my best friend date? I happen to think he'd make a fine brother in-law" Sirius said jokingly as he elbowed me in the ribs.
"I love Remus, but as a brother, not as your future brother in-law." I sternly whispered to Sirius, praying that Remus couldn't hear me. Of course I had been aware of his affections towards me, but I simply didn't reciprocate them. I quickly rose to my feet and began to gather my things.
"Aw, come now. Sit back down, I was only teasing." Sirius said. He wasn't.
"I can't." I said as I wrapped my scarf messily around my neck, "I've got to head back to the castle. I have a few last minute preparations before class in the morning and I'd rather do them now instead of getting up early."
Sirius rolled his eyes, "Just make Snivellus do that."
"His name is Severus." I corrected him.
"Whatever." Sirius scoffed and took another swig of his drink.
"Good night boys." I turned to head out of the Three Broomsticks and make my way back up to the castle.
"Want me to walk you? It's getting dark." Remus cautiously asked just as I was about to open the door.
I didn't even turn back, I simply raised my arm in the air and gave a nonchalant wave, "I'm a big girl" I assured him.
***************
Snape was practically melting into his chair as I worshiped him from my knees. I looked up at him as my cheeks hollowed around his length, and when our eyes met he let out a whiny moan and his cock twitched.
I smiled devilishly and took this opportunity to pick up the pace, my hand working the bottom of his shaft in unison with my mouth.
He let out a guttural groan as his hot seed spilled down my throat. At that exactly moment, I heard the quietest shuffle of feet. My heart sunk into my chest in pure panic as my gaze shifted from Severus's obsidian orbs to the doorway we had carelessly left open. It was, after all, late in the night and we weren't expecting company.
Remus stood stunned in the doorway. His eyes darted between Severus and I in rapid succession before he quickly turned and darted back down the hall.
***************
The next morning, when Severus and I arrived in the Great Hall for breakfast, Sirius and Remus were already hunched over in quiet whispers at the head table.
"Ah, speak of the devil!" Sirius chimed as he swung his arms open wide. "We were just talking about you Snivellus."
"Severus." Severus calmly corrected him.
Sirius ignored this and continued speaking, "Remus was just telling me about the craziest thing he saw last night. He said that he saw you cumming in my sister's mouth last night. I told him that he must be having insane dreams or hallucinating since tomorrow is the full moon. Go on Severus, tell him that you didn't cum in my sister's mouth" Sirius taunted.
"He must have been seeing things. I didn't cum in your sister's mouth." Severus said stone cold.
Sirius gave a hearty chuckle, "You see? I told you that you were fucking hallucinating Mooney. Snivellus couldn't convince a succubus to sleep with him, let alone my sister."
Without missing a beat Severus leaned in close to Sirius so that only he could hear him, "I didn't cum in your sister's mouth. I came down her throat." he snarled.

Better than Prince Charming - Herman Kozik
xReader
Summary: If Kozik can rely on one constant in his life, it’s Happy’s sister.
Warnings: swearing…. That’s all folks!
Note: 1.7k - Remember when I fell down my Kozik rabbit hole? I’m still there😌 wowowowowowow I have been in a FUNK lately. Work is crazy, been writing so many reports that I’ve had no motivation to write anything else riiipppp. So this isn’t great, but I finished it!!!! Had to get it outta my head and try get back into the writing groove! Peace.
Tumblr media
A massive moving truck backing into your mother’s driveway wasn’t exactly what you were expecting when she had mentioned your brother and his brothers would be stopping by.
You stilled your movements of mixing the muffin batter and watched as a guy in a kutte jumped out of the cab and started directing the driver back further.
It wasn’t often both you and Happy, and a few plus ones, were able to visit your mom at the same time so when you could, she went all out with the food. And you, living a whole lot closer to her than your brother in Charming, had been roped in to help prepare it.
Just as you were about to alert your mom, who was busy in another room dusting a cabinet that didn’t need dusting, about the guy you didn’t recognise, the driver's door of the truck swung open and another Son jumped out.
This one you recognised. Blonde hair, tattoos, aura that screamed Cali surfer dude. Herman Kozik.
Abandoning your post in the kitchen you made your way out of the house and into the front yard, “Who the hell let you behind the wheel of that thing?”
Both heads snapped toward you at the sound of your voice. The one you didn’t recognise stared in confusion, while Kozik’s face broke out in a grin as he began to walk toward you, “How ya doing, sunshine?”
When he reached you he had no hesitation in wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you into him in greeting, placing a kiss to your temple.
You smiled at him as you broke the hug, “Long time no see, Sarge,” you nodded toward the truck, “you planning on moving in or what?”
His gaze followed yours to the driveway and the younger man awkwardly standing around, “Maybe I’m planning on opening up an alcohol shop.” He gestured briefly to the writing on the side of the vehicle, “Happy’s running late, said he’ll be here this afternoon.”
You raised your eyebrow at him, “Can’t wait. Who’s your friend?”
Kozik nodded toward his fellow Son and gestured for him to make his way over, “Meet Miles. Miles, Happy’s sister.”
Miles’ eyes widened as he clicked to who you were, shaking your outstretched hand when you told him your name.
“Ma’s gone all out on the food for you guys. Hope you’re hungry.”
Kozik beamed at the revelation and nodded toward the house, “Lead the way, sweetheart.”
You started back toward the door, “Flattery gets you nowhere.”
The second the three of you stepped inside you were pushed out of the way as your mom stepped excitedly to greet the two Sons, namely Kozik.
She had gladly claimed him as one of her own after the first time she’d met him. Much to the dismay of you and Happy, suddenly finding yourselves fighting for her attention while she fussed over the blonde.
‘What a nice boy!’
‘So respectful, he just did the dishes. I didn’t even ask!’
‘And a bit of a looker too, mija!’
The smirk on Kozik’s face as he made a show of greeting your mother told you he knew exactly what you were thinking. Being the favourite was something he made sure to rub in your face at every opportunity.
Rolling your eyes you moved further into the kitchen to slide your abandoned muffin batter into the oven. Listening to Kozik and Miles being affectionately force fed and simultaneously being grilled on their eating habits at home brought a smile to your face.
“Something funny, sunshine?” The blonde called from his seat at the table. You shook your head as you carried the bowl of fruit salad to join the feast.
“Not at all, Sarge.”
You took a backseat while your mother doted on the two men, only chiming in when necessary and returning Kozik’s infectious smiles whenever he threw one your way.
Finally, your mom listened to the men who were claiming to be full and stopped trying to damn near spoon feed them. You began to gather the dishes and retreat to the sink to start the washing up.
Although he was your friend, he wasn’t your friend. He was Happy’s. However, you had become reasonably close with Kozik over the years. It wasn’t unusual for him to call you while he was in Tacoma for advice, or just to rant.
You were able to put pieces of his life together through conversation. Knowing that his family life was broken to say the least, it was strangely comforting to see how at home Kozik was around your family.
Lost in your thoughts as you washed the dishes, you didn’t notice Kozik had joined you until a sharp sting on your arm pulled you back to reality.
“Ow! You asshole.” Rubbing where he had used the tea towel to playfully whip you.
Kozik shrugged a shoulder, smirking to himself as he picked up a wet plate, “You were zoned out.”
You rolled your eyes at his excuse and refocused on the sink in front of you, “How’re you anyway? Haven’t seen you since you joined the Charming boys too. Finally sick of rainy Tacoma?”
He chuckled as he dried the plate, “Something like that, I’ve been good though.”
“So no more Sergeant, huh?”
Kozik clicked his tongue, “No more Sergeant. Just me and my bike.”
He sounded relieved at that. You didn’t know the ins and outs of the club, not even close. But you could imagine being the president’s left would leave a heavy weight on anyone’s shoulders.
“What about small town life? Adjusting to nosey neighbours?”
“Nah, my neighbours hate me.”
You giggled at that, not seeing the way Kozik smiled at the sound.
“They’ll come ‘round. Bake them some cookies or something.”
“Yeah, because I’m well known for my baking skills,” he laughed, he was definitely not, “What about you? Still no man?”
“Nah, still waiting on my Prince Charming.”
With your eyes still focused on the sink in front of you, you missed how Kozik fought to bite back his relieved smile, “Cool.”
“Super cool.”
“Bet your mom’s pleased,” he teased. You let out a breathy laugh.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if she married me off to one of the men from her church at this point.”
He threw his head back with a chuckle at the thought, “Nah, Happy’d never let that happen.”
“You think he’ll stand up to our mother? Have you met her?”
Kozik nodded in understanding, “Well, I wouldn’t let that happen.”
You peered at him from the corner of your eye, smiling knowingly.
He defended himself right away, “I wouldn’t! Hell, I’d marry you if I had to.”
“Oh yeah? Gonna sweep me off my feet?”
“What, like I couldn’t?”
You dropped your hands into the sink with the dishes and looked at him with a quirked eyebrow, “Such a charmer, Herman.”
“You said you were after a Prince Charming,” he held up his hands in mock defence, “I’m better.”
Miles appeared in the doorway before you could respond, motioning to Kozik to follow him. The blonde threw the towel in his hands lightly at your face and left you with a wink.
Finishing the dishes you moved to watch the commotion in the front yard.
Your mom joined you in the entryway while you watched the guys as they loaded whatever it was that your mom had been storing for them back into the truck.
“Such nice men aren’t they?”
“The best of the best, Ma,” you laughed at her endless propositioning.
Such nice looking men, you thought to yourself as you watched Kozik reach up to pull the truck’s roller door down. As if he could read your mind, his head turned to you, eyes locking from across the yard. A classic Kozik wink and a bright smile was flashed your way as he locked the door.
He called out to Miles who was rummaging around in the cab and began to walk back toward the house, the younger Son in tow.
“Heading out already?” You questioned as he drew closer.
Kozik nodded, “Sooner we hit the road, sooner we’re home.”
You watched as your mother pulled Miles into a hug and shoved a tupperware container full of food into his hands before sending him on his way. He waved at you and called out his goodbyes before he turned back to the truck.
Next Kozik was tugged down to her height for an embrace, “Come back soon, mijo! And make sure you’re eating well. You can’t live off take out.”
He pressed a loving kiss to her hair as he chuckled, “Yes, ma’am.”
She pulled back and patted his cheek lovingly, turning and making her way back inside.
You both watched as your mom trotted off to the living room to continue cleaning things that didn’t need to be cleaned for Happy’s arrival.
The sound of Herman clearing his throat drew your attention back to him.
“You gonna come visit us in Charming anytime soon?” He leaned against the door frame looking every bit like a high school jock.
You raised an eyebrow, “You willing to house me for a night? No way I’m bunking at Hap’s.”
He let out a laugh at that, nodding in understanding, “You bake something for my neighbours and we have a deal.”
“Consider it done,” you smiled up at the taller man, “Safe travels, Sarge.”
He reached out to ruffle your hair, knowing exactly how it would get on your nerves, “See you soon, sunshine.”
Flashing you one last smile he turned and made his way out to the truck where Miles’ was waiting patiently. Once he had taken his place in the driver’s seat you left your spot in the doorway and joined your mom in the living room.
The older woman glanced at you with a cheeky smile on her face as you sat down, “He was making eyes at you again.”
Instead of taking the bait and responding, you kept your sight focused on the TV in front of you, biting your lip in an attempt to stop the bashful grin threatening to spread across your face.

“Touching you” Harry Hook soulmate AU/xreader part 2
Tumblr media
Summary: In a world where you’re connected to your soulmate by thought, a young villain and a young girl are brought together by unique circumstances.
__________________________________________
“And next we have Ms soon-to-be crowned sultan of Agrabah, y/n!” The announcer at Ben’s coronation moved with pep as she approached y/n’s entry carriage to interview her.
On the isle, Harry slid up next to uma, pushing gil out of the way so he could finally get his first look at the girl he had been talking to for years.
“She left home not too long ago to attend auradon prep to further prepare, how’s that going for you?” She asked, holding the mic to y/n’s mouth.
“Quite well actually. My people should be assured that good things are coming.” y/n replied, smiling into the live feed camera.
“I’m sure! You and that soulmate of yours will do great! Have you met him yet?” Y/n masked her uneasiness well when she answered.
“Not in person, but i have no doubt that the media will just eat him up.” She laughed.
“And finally, do you have any words for anyone watching at home?”
Y/n looked into the camera once again, clad out in a silk blue dress that fitted form around the bust and flowed out further down the skirt, she batted her eyelashes she gave an innocent expression.
“Hi darling.” she waved softly.
As soon as the camera was off of her, Harry’s thoughts were the first thing she heard.
“Yer’ so beautiful.”
“Why thank you Harry”
“Im feigning to touch ye’.” She let out a bark of a laugh in her carriage.
“How forward of you, you haven’t even taken me to dinner first.”
“Ye’ know what i meant.” he huffed.
“i know. I wish you were here. We’d be quite the pair.”
“Why so sure?”
“Because i’ve seen the outfits you kids from the isle wear, and it’s right up my alley.”
“Just ye’ wait til’ fate brings us together, I’m quite the handsome devil i would say.” Y/n let out another laugh, earning a stern look from her mother.
“I’m sure you are, and i can’t wait to see.”
__________________________________________
And for months, the two waited, and waited, and waited, until.
“Mal’s gone back to the isle.”
Y/n’s head whipped around to Evie, showing nothing but shock to her statement.
“This is all my fault! We have to go find her.” Ben said, standing from his seat.
“I’m coming too.” Y/n said firmly.
“No. The isle is dangerous y/n.” Ben shot down quickly.
“You listen here.” she said, pointing a finger in his direction.
“Ben I HAVE to go with you. I’m not asking. This is serious.”
The king sighed, running his hand through his brown locs.
“I mean, she does dress the part.” Evie chimed in.
“Fine.”
__________________________________________
The entire ride to the isle, y/n ignored all of Harry’s attempts to talk to her. She wanted it to be some what of a surprise when she arrived.
She followed Jay, Evie, Carlos and Ben through a narrow musty alley way as they explained to the king how to fit it. She couldn’t help but noticed the conditions on the isle were somehow worse than what Harry had described to her all those years.
“Where are you?” She asked suddenly.
“Eh? On the isle...?” Harry responded, the confused tone evident in his voice.
“ Where on the isle? Give me land marks.”
“......Near the entrance, 20 paces past ye’ old carpet stand and down the alleyway to hell hall.”
Looking up, she scanned the area, up above her there was a shop sign for the carpet vendor, and just under it was a street sign for hell hall.
“E.” Y/n said suddenly. She pulled Evie to the side, letting the boys walk on.
“E, i have to go.”
“He’s here?” Evie held a small smile.
“This might be my only chance E, i have to go now.” Evie held the girl’s hands to her chest.
“I can’t stop you, even i know the magic of soulmates is irrefutable. Please be careful. We’re not leaving the isle without you.”
“I won’t be long.”
__________________________________________
“I don’t know what you look like.” Y/n thought, standing in the middle of a moderately busy intersection. She continued to people watch, looking for anyone that could possibly be captain hook’s son.
Suddenly there was a tap on her shoulder. Turning around, she was met eye level with a broad chest. Looking up, she locked gaze with beautiful blue eyes that were shadowed in eyeliner. He had tossed black hair under a pirate hat and a silver hook over his hand.
Y/n was struck still, her breath hitched in her throat. She exhaled softly when the sharp point of his hook trailed up her jaw. His other hand grabbed her waist, pulling her to him and ushering her hand up onto his chest. He leaned close, lips brushing against her ear.
“Yer’ even more beautiful in person, Princess.” He mumbled.
His heart fluttered when she let out a breathy laugh. One laugh turned to a mountain of joyful giggles as he swept to the side, into an alley, and out of sight.
“Harry.” She held his face in her palms, tears brimming her eyes.
“Don’t cry.” He mumbled, wiping her stray tears with his thumb. He placed a small kiss on her cheek, then he grabbed her chin, turned her face, and mirrored it on the other side.
She breathed a sigh of content as he softly pushed her against the alley wall. He peppered kisses all around her face, his hands wandering up and down her body.
“How much time do we have? How much longer can i spend with ye?” He mumbled, his thumb tracing the side of her face.
“Not long, I need to go back in a little bit.” She responded sadly.
“I promise you, i’m trying really hard to get you to Auradon.” She mumbled, leaning her head onto his chest. Surprisingly, he smelled good, not like any perfume, but more like a sweet musk.
“What if i never make it there?” He asked, cradling the back of her head.
“Then i’ll come here.”
“No. I’m not letting ye’ live here in this dump.”
“It’ll be worth it, if i’m with you. Besides I think i’d make quite the dashing pirate.” She smirked, snatching the hat off harry’s head and placing it on her own. Harry let out a low chuckle while she stroked stereotypical pirate poses.
He couldn’t dream of spending the rest of his life in the isle, it was one of many reasons why he stuck with Uma. She was his only chance of having a life with his soulmate.
“You’d be the most beautiful lassy on board.” He smirked.
“Y/n!” The two teens perked up at the sound of y/n’s name being called down the intersecting alley.
“I guess this is me.” She said softly, pulling Harry’s hat from her head.
“Keep it.” He said, pushing her outstretched hand back in her direction. “I’ll get it back another time.”
Y/n let out a sad breath of a laugh. Placing her hand on the pirates chest, she leaned up to press her lips to his cheek.
“Stay safe, Darling.” And before he knew it, she was gone.

Dinner Date (Kirishima xReader)
Category: Fluff
Word count: 2,733
{Do not repost, please!}
Mina's bottle of fate sat in the center of the 1A circle. Every night this green bottle that she'd grown oh so attached to would pick the chores each dorm-mate would have to complete. Now, it was the third spin. You all knew what that meant;  Dinner! Who was in charge of the food class 1A would consume before their good night's rest?
"And in charge of tonight's dinner is..." Mina paused for dramatic effect, Hagakure patting on the floor to provide a drumroll. At least- you thought it was Hagakure. No one could truly tell the origins of that mysterious noise.
The bottle spun, and spun, and spun, eventually slowing to a stop in front of Kirishima. That was a surprise! Eijiro was the last person you'd expect the 'bottle of fate' to land on for dinner, but here it was! The neck of the bottle pointed straight at him.
"Oh? Haha, guess it's me, then." Kirishima humbly accepted the role, though Mina, your event coordinator, didn't seem to agree.
"Oh no, no, no, no, that won't work." Mina shook her head, yellow eyes landing directly on you before she spoke her next sentence. "Kirishima, you need adult supervision in the kitchen. Since we don't have that..." The rest of class 1A turned to Sato, but Mina stayed focused on you. What was she planning?
"Whaddaya mean, Mina?" Kirishima sounded disappointed- but not shocked.
"You're not to be trusted around a hot stove. Bottle of fate chooses them to monitor you." Mina pointed her finger your way, earning quite a few confused faces from the rest of 1A.
"You didn't even spin! Wouldn't Sato-" Someone from the crowd chimed, but Mina dismissed their concern.
"Sato is a baker, not a babysitter. I trust their supervision more." She backed her opinion, walking by to grab both you and Kirishima by the back of the collar and drag you to the kitchen. It seemed she was dead set in this idea.
"Make sure he doesn't kill us," She requested, closing the door behind her.
The 1A dorm's main kitchen. Not many people went in here normally. Between breakfast and lunch, the school did a good job of making sure everyone was fed. Dinner, on the other hand, was another story.
"Well... what are your plans?" You asked, turning around to spot an impressed Kiri. He was staring at everything with a pleasantly surprised look on his face. Mina was right to send him in here with help. It didn't even look like Kirishima knew what a stove was with how interested he was in its workings.
"This is great!" He beamed. Maybe he did know what to do in here? "I want to make something good for everyone. They all worked hard today. Any ideas?" Had he turned to you for ideas? If anyone would know what this class liked, it was Kiri. You shook your head, not feeling as though you were the best pick for the job.
"Go with your gut choice," You suggested. Kirishima thought for a moment, a confident smile soon tugging at the corners of his lips.
"We need to go to the store." He nodded.
"What?" You were sent with him to stop him from making silly choices. This? This had to be the silliest choice he could've made. "It's after curfew, Kirishima," You reminded him, but it didn't appear he'd heard you.
"We'll be back before dark and feed everyone something they'll enjoy!" He nodded, solidifying his choice. Maybe he thought it wasn't as late as it was? The sun hadn't gone down as early as it usually did, so it wasn't impossible he'd believed that. Oh well, you'd been tasked to watch him, so wherever he went you had to follow and keep him out of trouble. He was smart, so it was unlikely something bad would happen, but it'd be better for two heads rather than one if something went wrong. It wasn't like he gave you much more time to protest, either, because almost as soon as those words left his mouth, the two of you exited the back door.
It was still bright outside- not optimal for sneaking out, but luckily for the two of you, no one noticed as you slipped through the bushes and onto the main road. It was hard to remember how you got past the wall. All you knew was that you'd have to do it again. That could be problematic.
"Almost there," Kiri smiled. He was excited to make everyone happy! You couldn't possibly tell him this might not be a good idea. You didn't have it in you to disappoint him and make him go back. You were nearly there anyway! Surely toughing it out wouldn't be so hard.
The two of you slowly approached what looked to be a strip of shops, each with their lights on. Everywhere was open? Wasn't it late? No time to ask questions, though. Kirishima took your hand into his own as the two of you stepped onto the crosswalk and crossed the road. For someone with a hardening quirk, his hands were shockingly soft. He was noticeably trying his best not to grip too hard, only wanting to guide you to the other side of the street. Once you were safe and across he let you go, which was almost disappointing.
"This is the place!" He smiled, opening the door for you. What you stepped into was nothing you'd expected. It was the most beautiful produce shop you'd ever seen! The walls were lined with a rainbow of fruits and vegetables. From onions and mushrooms to chives and garlic, everything looked fresh and healthy.
"What did you want to get from here?" You asked, following Kirishima down the isle of greens and spices.
"Since everyone's probably tired from training all day, I decided to make them some comfort food. You can't go wrong with ramen!" It was honestly adorable how he'd put so much thought into this, but his answer didn't fully tell you why you were off-campus.
"That's wonderful, Kirishima- but didn't we have everything we needed in the kitchen? I swear I saw a whole pantry of noodles, and there's pork in the fridge." You were trying to understand his thought process. Was there something you didn't have in the dorm kitchen? You could've sworn they stocked each one with everything you'd need.
"Because they thought of everything except for..." Kirishima trailed as he gently took your hand again and lead you past the greens and to the back. Reds. In front of you was a wall of peppers.
"Woah- do you think everyone would be able to handle that?" You asked, concerned.
"Yep! I'm picking something mild enough for even Tokoyami to handle- I think birds get sick if you give them anything too spicy." Kirishima nodded.  He had the right idea... though that line made you laugh harder than you'd like to admit.
Soon enough he'd gotten what he needed and you were heading back to school. The uneasy feeling you'd felt before was returning as you crossed the road. This time around, Kirishima stopped in front of the wooded path and turned to you.
"Your hand is shaking. Are you alright?" He asked, hiking the grocery bag up onto his arm so that he could use his free hand to check your temperature. "You're warm, but no fever." He mumbled to himself.
"Yeah! I'm fine, just..." You started to tell him what was wrong but didn't want to worry him. You trusted him. Kirishima was responsible enough not to get the two of you in trouble, even if it felt like he was about to. Why did you even feel a sense of responsibility for him? It was a random task Mina threw on you, but it felt like you were bound to it.
"Just... what? Do you need to sit down? Were you tired?" It appeared 'trying not to worry him' hadn't gone according to plan. Kirishima led you to the base of the path and sat you down on a bench, hovering over you. He was examining you from head to toe, trying to find what the problem was.
"No, no, really. I'm doing okay, Kirishima." You attempted to reassure him, and he smiled at the effort- but wasn't convinced.
"Are you sure? I can carry you if you aren't okay to walk. Did something scare you? Is it quirk-related?" He went on and on with questions, trying to make sure you were okay. As the sky began to change colors, your unrest only worsened. "Let's get you back as soon as possible. Maybe Momo can make you something." Kirishima resolved, looking up at the amber sky. It was getting late, and he didn't want to cause any problems.
"Yes, let's." You agreed, happy he'd finally started walking again. He was closer to you this time, doing his best to hold you steady as you rushed back to the building. Then, he did something that truly shocked you. He went right up to the gate and walked through! There wasn't a problem at all, and you felt as though something was really wrong.
You stepped back into the dorm's kitchen and sat down on the nearest seat you could find. After letting you catch your breath, Kirishima put down the peppers and walked over to you again, sitting down at your side.
"Okay, you can talk to me. What's up?" He asked.
"Nothing! We're back safe. I'm ok." You replied, doing your best to settle your nerves. You truly hoped there wouldn't be any repercussions for tonight's events.
"I've got it from here. I promise I won't burn down the building. Mina was just overreacting." Kirishima chuckled to himself about that one.  "You go on to bed. I'll bring you dinner when it's done, m'kay?"
"What? No, no, I'm fine! I promise it's-"
"I insist. Go on up to your room! I'll be there to make sure you're better soon." Kirishima aided you in standing and leaving the kitchen. When you stepped out, you were met with copious amounts of stares and whispers. Almost immediately, Mina rushed to your side.
"Where were you! You look like you've seen a ghost! Let me help you to your room." Why was everyone so worried? Did you look that upset? You tried not to let it show,  but it was making sense now that Kirishima hadn't believed you. Maybe you'd let the worry seep into your appearance.
Mina helped you up the stairs and into your room, shutting the door behind her. Oh no, was this a lecture? You sure hoped not. It didn't... look that way, though. Mina just sat on the base of your bed and watched as you got under the covers and relaxed.
"Good. Now you can tell me what happened. We checked the kitchen and neither of you were in there. Was something wrong? Is Kirishima ok? Bakugo was about to -" Her questions would have run on and on had you not stopped her.
"Everything is fine, Mina. He took me to a shop so he could buy something to use for dinner." You explained.
"Then... why did you look so scared when you came back? Jeez, I thought one of the fake scenarios we'd come up with had actually happened." She whined, but she was relieved. Your safety was what class 1A had worried about while you were out, after all.
"I was worried about curfew..." You explained to mina how you'd simply felt anxious about the time. She laughed! Not the reaction you expected, but it was oddly comforting in a way. It almost made you feel like...
"Well, you sure were worried for nothing." Mina giggled. "The time went back last night, silly." Of course! Your clock had stayed the same because it was analog. You'd completely forgotten about the time change with how busy your day had been. Mina couldn't help but continue to giggle at how your face was so quickly relaxed. "I'll tell Kirishima you're alright and take over your shift for you. You rest up."
Time passed slowly as you waited for something to happen. Alone in your room, all you could do was feel a bit dumb at how you'd handled things. The annual time change! How had you forgotten something as crucial as that? No wonder you got past the gates fine- it wasn't nearly past curfew! You felt even worse for doubting your friend. There's no way he'd willingly put you in danger like that. Suddenly, you felt the urge to apologize.
There was a knock at the door. It looked like your chance had come.
"Can I come in?" A familiar voice called, muffled from the shield of your door. It was Kirishima. Just as he'd promised, he came to check on you. Even after Mina told him what had you worried, he still showed up.
"Of course!" You replied, an anxious tightness building in your stomach. You were embarrassed, and you could see by the look on his face when he walked in that Kirishima could tell.
"So, uh... Mina told me why you were so shakey before." He was trying not to laugh as he walked into your room, closing the door with his heel. Kirishima was holding a dinner tray with a bowl of ramen sat atop. Had he really brought you dinner after all this? You were looking at a man of his word.
"Yeah, I'm sorry about all that by the way. I knew you wouldn't do anything to-"
"Get you in trouble?" He interrupted. "I know you trust me, and Mina made it a really big point to tell me in case I didn't, don't worry." Kirishima placed the tray down on your nightstand. You found it a bit odd that he hadn't given it straight to you, but it made sense. You couldn't talk with your mouth full, and it was obvious he had something to say.
"I'm glad I don't have to explain that, then." A nervous laugh escaped the back of your throat as you sat up in bed to talk to him.
"Woah, Woah, Woah, I didn't say that.  I wanna know why you didn't tell me." Kirishima sat crisscross at the foot of your bed directly in line with you, head tilted with curiosity.
"Well, I didn't want you to worry about me or anything. I trusted that you knew what you were doing, so I didn't want to say anything that made it seem like I doubted you." You explained hurriedly. All you wanted to do was let him know you trusted him. "I'm sorry for doubting you- or, for seeming like I did. I was just worried, is all."
"You have nothing to apologize for." Kiri shushed you by waving his hand as if to swat away your statements. He then shot you a smile so friendly only he could have managed to scrounge up. "I wanted to apologize for worrying you. You wouldn't have stressed so  much if I'd just asked you what you said before we left."
"What? Apologize to me? You did an amazing job with dinner and tried to make sure I was okay the whole time you were focused on it. How about I say... thank you?" You suggested, opening your arms and pushing the covers off of you.
It'd taken Kirishima a minute to understand what you were trying to do, but when he did he was more than happy to scoot on over and give you a big hug. A bear hug, if you will. He wrapped his arms around you and you could almost hear his smile through his breath over your shoulder.
"How about I thank you?" He whispered.
"For..?" You questioned.
"Spending all that time with me!" He Smiled, backing away from the hug but not letting you go completely. "Maybe we can go out like that during the day sometime?" Kirishima suggested.
"I think we should." You nodded.
The two of you spent the night chatting and laughing. It was needless to say he'd more than forgiven you. You didn't make him upset at all! Kirishima was just glad you were feeling well. He left you to finish your food in peace, but something told you you'd be seeing him again in the morning.

(i don't know if you do xreader HCs but,, i just love your writing aAAAAA–💖💕💗💓) Out of our main cast rate who do you think woukd be most protective of their significant other? Also some mini headcanons about that if you can? (if you don't do xreaders it's a-okay i just had to try 😚🤗💖)
Hey Nonny, don’t worry I got your back. ;) I’m not usually an x-reader creator but I view x-reader headcanons as things to expand on as well with canonxcanon or canonxoc or whatevs. I like ‘em as writing prompts. So, here’s some headcanons hot off the grill!
Ishigami Senku
- Senku, would look out for his SO, around the lab. He would be on top of lab safety especially if it came to his S/O and not wanting to see them injured. Goggles, coat, gloves the whole 9 yards… While happily ignoring his own safety.
- In the modern day, Senku would be the one to make sure they never had any dates in a place that might be shady… and insist every time on walking his S/O home from said outings.
- In the Stone World, it’s worrying over hypothermia, sicknesses of all kinds.. Be wary of literal Dr. Stone armed with his self made medical tools and poultices. (I’m sure his S/O would laugh it off and even tease him… Before realizing nope. Senku’s utterly serious)
- Or resting curled up around his S/O, keeping them warm.
- If they were a Stone Statue and Senku came across them, he’d hesitate initially at revival, unlike with Yuzuriha and Taiju. It’s one thing to revive your friends because your worried about them or scared for them… It’s another, to realize that someone you loved, so dearly might not even be conscious. In the end, he would of course choose revival versus risking The Kingdom of Might finding them and hurrying them back to the village. All the while keeping public affection to a grand minimum to avoid giving Tsukasa someone to target.
- Maybe this would cause a bit of tension, until Senku explains that, his feelings haven’t changed, but he has to choose the group versus his feelings. If they lose even one person, in his eyes they’ve already lost the war. “There’ll be a time and place for this all. But right now, we cannot act like we usually do while Homura’s spying on us.”
Kinrou
-Mr. Rules are Rules would definitely be a protective S/O, focusing heavily on ensuring they can still defend themselves if he can’t. While his job keeps him very busy, they find little moments… Mostly when Kinrou can get someone to watch the bridge… and watch Ginrou for him.
- If an enemy was attacking, he’d gladly ensure his S/O was covered, while the blows bounced off his reinforced shield…. Before using all of his might to attack.
- Of course, there’ll be times where KInrou can’t always be there… but he will do his hardest. As far as he’s concerned, the village and those who mean the world to him in it, will always be guarded as long as he breathes.
- Someone’s flirting with Kinrou’s S/O? Cue Kinrou getting between them and ensuring this crap ends right there.
- S/O’s fighting an enemy WITH the group instead of ducking for cover? Kinrou’s got their back and ensuring they’re fighting as a team not as just him being over protective.
- Though forget competing in the Grand Bout if your his S/O. He’s not going to watch someone he’s dating get beaten up.
Shishio Tsukasa
(This one’s for you Tsukasa fans. Especially you all who’ve caught up on the manga ;) )
- He’d hunt their statue down first if they were petrified and do as he said. Bury them and mark it so he can find them later, when victory is surely going to be ensured.
- However, at the same time, he would hesitate. He would very much hesitate before deciding to break his own principals and swearing them to secracy. That no matter what, while he’s trying to fight for his cause that they cannot, absolutely cannot be seen together. “I have enemies even among my own cause. I don’t trust any of them with your life.”
- Of course, this would lead to tension. If Tsukasa’s S/O knew about what he was doing, they would be arguing with him the whole time and maybe even call their relationship off because of this.
- Tsukasa would of course be devastated but convince himself, it’s for the best. They’ll see to reason when the new world is fully as he envisions it.
 - However, after the Stone Wars and Tsukasa is dying, he only asks for two people to see him before he’s put into stasis. To see those who mean more than life itself to him. His dear little sister and his S/O.
- Back in the modern age, Tsukasa would be protective and ensure no one was harassing his S/O… However, while they await for Senku and the others to return on the Perseus, S/O focuses on taking care of Mirai and guarding with a silent vigil of Tsukasa’s frozen tomb.
- When their reunited, it’s the best day of all of their lives. Mirai has her older brother back, S/O and Tsukasa can be together… and Tsukasa can work on atoning properly for what he’s done.
- Not to say the second someone like Magma even LOOKS at S/O wrong, Tsukasa doesn’t punch their lights out immediately.
- He’s teased to high heaven by everyone else about this and Senku threatens to petrify him a second time. “At least I’d be able to watch him!” S/O would chime in, much to Tsukasa’s chagrin.
---
Here ya go! I might not to xreader HC’s all the time, as I’m normally not a consumer or creator for it but I love writing headcanons. XD So I hope you enjoy nonny! Thanks for dropping in!

VoiD [undecided xReader] Prologue
Tumblr media
I’ve been listening to my drama cds recently and re-playing Dark Fate, recently... and I just couldn’t not write something for this fandom. Especially since I was a part of the fandom since the first year Diabolik Lovers Haunted Dark Bridal released.
Jiangshi - Chinese ‘hopping’ vampire, ghost, or zombie. Usually depicted with a Chinese paper talisman on its forehead. Survives and reanimates through absorbing the qi or lifeforce of its victim. Pale skinned, and sometimes depicted as having pure white hair. [For the purposes of this story, I will write up a fact sheet about Jiangshi in the Dialovers world]
|Masterlist Link|
----------------------------
“You’re not a vampire.” you remember sitting next to him, the both of you young and barely ninety years of age, in an elegant white gazebo outside a massive castle of white. The castle of Karlheinz, King of Vampires. Your companion sat across from you, sipping regally from his teacup, purple tinted hair neatly combed and piercing red eyes not breaking contact from your own.
You chuckle, being the one to break the connection between you two, looking away to observe the setting sun. “No, I wouldn’t say that I am.” No, you were not a vampire, and you weren’t of any other clan either. Perhaps, one of your long dead clansmen was a First Blood, but your clan had long since deviated from the ways of the Demon World. “To be clear, I am of the ancient First Bloods, but not through the sub races. My clan had left the Demon World long ago, moving to Asia and becoming the ruling supernatural power.”
When you turned your head to look back at your companion, you saw the curious glint in his ruby orbs. He was older than you perhaps, but he had yet to learn and see the world as you have. So you smiled silently, waiting for the young vampire to ask you to answer in a straight manner. “What are you, Y/N?”
“First Bloods gave rise to the four other sub races, the vampires, the werewolves, the vabora, and the aquila. We are none of the sub races, yet we are all, but only by blood relation. We are called many names in the world, zombies, ghosts, ghouls, wraiths, even vampires.” You gave laid back smile at your companion’s expression of understanding. “In China we are called Jiangshi.”
“Jiangshi are reanimated corpses, Y/N.” Red eyes narrowed, looking to refute your claim.
“My ancestor was a reanimated First Blood, so yes, perhaps, in a sense, having the characteristics of the living dead might give others the impression that my clan are the walking dead.” You grinned slyly, “But legends aren’t always true. Vampires aren’t afraid of the cross, after all. Therefore, I am not a reanimated corpse, nor do I hop for mobility.”
“Hmph.” Your dearest smirked in amusement, bringing a gloved hand to adjust the glasses on his young face. “The idea of hopping to go from place to place is laughable.”
You could only laugh along.
“Y/N!” Your head turned to greet the triplets with a gentle smile, not missing the annoyed ‘tsk’ that Reiji made beside you. None of the Sakamaki brothers were very good with sharing. Ayato, the eldest, according to Japanese tradition, led his brothers towards the gazebo in a dead sprint, a cheerful smile on his cute little face.
“Hello, Ayato, Laito, Kanato.” you greeted, smile coming to your face naturally as the triplets begged for you to join them in their games. The three boys were so joyful that you found it astounding that any of them were the offspring of that hateful woman, Cordelia. In fact, only Reiji seemed to resemble any of his parents in terms of personality. Glancing over at the mature and ambitious boy as the triplets dragged you away, you saw the disapproving expression and mentally sighed. Indeed, it would do Reiji some good if he knew how to have fun while you were all still children. Even now, Shuu was off playing with his friend, Edgar, and Reiji was here being studious.
Although you were promised to Reiji in an arranged marriage, and you were very sure that you were fond of Reiji, you were unsure if he could love you. The disapproving expression that marred his youthful face gave you a slight hint, and when you found that the expression burned, you turned away to run with the triplets. No. If Reiji saw you when you dropped the act of propriety… when he saw how rough you acted… how unladylike you truly were… he’d shun you.
Hours of playing later, when the moon was in the sky, you could be found laying on the grass with the triplets, exhausted from the endless childish games. Distantly, audible to only your ears, a faint chime of a bell rang, and you were forced to stand elegantly, midnight blue dress shifting with your motion.
“Do you have to leave, Y/N?” Kanato whimpered, catching your sleeve in his small hands, large eyes staring up at you sadly.
Loud shouting echoed through the night and you froze when your father came sprinting out of the castle and towards you, “Y/N, we must leave. NOW!” you protested loudly as your father dragged you away from the triplets forcefully.
You continued to struggle and reach out towards the triplets, “No! I don’t want to leave yet!” Your eyes met three pairs of eyes as they ran after you, trying to hold onto your outstretched hands. You couldn’t leave the triplets. You couldn’t leave Reiji or Shuu. Or even little Subaru, trapped up in the tower.
“Y/N!” Laito cried out, fiercely trying to hold onto your hand with Kanato clutching your dress, having abandoned Teddy in the grass behind.
“Tsk! Little brats. Let go of my daughter! If your father won’t honor the deal then we have no reason to stay allies.” You father stopped, raising a hand to strike Kanato, only for you to throw yourself in the way, receiving your father’s strike full force into the stomach as you shielded the middle triplet. “Stubborn daughter.” Your father hissed, watching as you doubled over in pain, the triplets hovering around you in worry. Before you were able to register what happened, your father had thrown the triplets back and had you in his arms, sprinting away from the Vampire King’s castle.
Weakly, you tried to reach out to Laito, whose tiny body struggled stand and look at you.
Your father resolved to seal you in your room when you returned home, not explaining why relations with the Sakamaki Family had soured.
Eventually, through sheer stubbornness, you were able to escape your room and return to that white castle… to the white gazebo, where Reiji once again sat. But as you approached, the young vampire only directed a glare at you, and you recoiled visibly. “What do you think you’re doing here?”
Giving a shaky smile, your eyes met his sharp ruby orbs. “I never miss an appointment with a friend.”
“Friend.” Reiji scoffed in disgust. “You are an enemy of my father. We are not friends.”
Bewildered, you spoke up with a distressed expression, “Our fathers are enemies, but it doesn’t mean that our friendship shouldn’t continue, Reiji.”
The glare sharpened, “Any enemy of my father is my enemy. Now leave. Before I call the guards.”
“Reiji…” you tried to step forward, only to feel a sharp pain on your face and recoil in pain. In your friend’s hand was a whip, and it took you a few moments to realize that he had struck you.
“Leave.” no temper, just a cold and frigid expression.
A tear dripped down your face as you turned and walked away. You never returned to that white castle. Because when Karlheinz declared war on your clan, you and your family were killed only a few decades later.
