Learn to Trust God in times of great challenges and uncertainty. Try God, abide in Him and the Peace of God will find you.
During seasons of transition or uncertainty, I’ve often been overwhelmed by anxiety. It feels like dragging a giant boulder—its crushing weight consumes every thought and action, leaving no room for anything else. Fear and dread can paralyze you, making it difficult to move forward, yet impossible to turn back. Anxiety breeds doubt, even causing us to question God’s power in our lives. Take time…

What’s a good reason to not take my own life? I’ve been feeling this way for years. Been to multiple treatment programs. Seen by several different therapists. Anti-depressants. I frequently go outdoors to exercise. Try to fill up my life with being optimistic about my (admittedly nice) job, hobbies, travel, and volunteering. And yet I’m still no better than I was 5 years ago and I have no hope about a happy future. “Your family will miss you.” Ok, and? I think it’s selfish to tell people in pain to continue living like that because some people might temporarily feel sad. They’ll eventually move on. My friends too, especially the ones who are happily married “to their best friends” and having babies and are so happy that they forget I exist.
Hey anon I hope I am not too late! I am just getting out of a hurricane and was without internet access for several days so i apologize for the delay.
But there are so many reasons not to take your own life. In fact, I can’t think of a single reason why you should.
I know it’s tough right now and trust me, I know that depression makes it all feel pointless and worthless and can plague you for years but even though if feels like forever I promise you these feelings and this depression and your circumstances are TEMPORARY. And it would be a tragedy for you to take your life over temporary circumstances and not see what is possible on the other side.
Yes your family and friends will miss you but you should stay because your life has purpose and meaning! Therapy and anti-depressants are good and I’m glad you’ve been trying those things because that means you don’t actually want to die - you just want the pain to stop. And that’s completely understandable and also manageable!
It’s great that you’ve been continuing to exercise and do volunteer work because those things can definitely impact your mood, but they aren’t the source of true joy, peace and happiness. Now I’m a Christian so I’m sure it won’t surprise you for me to say this, but what you are looking for and what you need can only come from God. I urge you to put your faith and trust in him and give him your burdens.
The devil has a hold on you right now, don’t let him win!
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” - Isaiah 41:10
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” - John 10:10
“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” - psalm 55:22
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all.” - psalm 34:18-19
But now that I’ve gone on my spiel, here are some reasons I think it’s good to keep living. Not all my original thoughts but ones i agree with.
1. You matter
2. No one else is you.
3. Your younger self
4. Your next favorite song.

When You Feel Discouraged As A Christian
We all deal with it.
Life is full of ups and downs, and as Christians, we are not exempt from feelings of discouragement. Whether it stems from personal challenges, unmet expectations, or the weight of the world around us, discouragement can hinder our spiritual growth and affect our overall well-being. However, there are ways to deal with these feelings while remaining anchored in faith.
Acknowledge Your Feelings
The first step in dealing with discouragement is to acknowledge your feelings rather than suppressing them. It’s important to recognize that feeling discouraged is a natural human experience. Even prominent figures in the Bible, such as David and Elijah, faced discouragement. Openly admitting your feelings can help you start the journey toward healing.
Pray for Strength
Turn to prayer as a source of comfort and strength. Share your struggles and fears with God, and ask for His guidance and support. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us to present our requests to God, promising that His peace will guard our hearts and minds. Regular prayer can serve as a significant source of encouragement, lifting your burdens and renewing your hope.
Meditate on Scripture
Scripture can provide powerful encouragement during tough times. Spend time reading verses that speak to your situation. Consider passages like Isaiah 41:10, which assures us that God is with us, and 2 Corinthians 12:9, which reminds us of God’s strength in our weakness. Meditating on these verses can help to recalibrate your mindset and ground you in truth.
Seek Community Support
Connecting with fellow believers can offer significant strength when facing discouragement. Share your thoughts with trusted friends, family members, or church leaders who can pray with you and provide support. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages Christians to not give up meeting together, emphasizing the importance of community in fostering encouragement and accountability.
Focus on Service
Sometimes, reaching out to others can help lift our spirits. Engage in acts of service, whether volunteering at your church, helping a neighbor, or simply offering encouragement to a friend. Focusing on the needs of others can shift your perspective and remind you of the importance of compassion and love.
Maintain a Routine of Worship
Worship can be a powerful antidote to discouragement. Whether through music, prayer, or studying Scripture, dedicating time to worship allows you to connect with God. It also enables you to draw strength from praise, as seen in Psalm 34:1: “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Reflect on Past Victories
In moments of discouragement, take the time to reflect on how God has been faithful in your past. Remembering previous hardships that you overcame can reignite your hope for the future. Keep a journal of God’s provision and blessings, allowing you to see how far you’ve come.
Set Realistic Goals
Feeling overwhelmed can exacerbate discouragement. Break larger tasks into manageable goals and create a plan for achieving them. This strategy not only provides a sense of direction but also helps build momentum and confidence as you accomplish each step.
Draw Comfort from God’s Promises
Finally, hold onto God’s promises. He has assured us that He is present in our trials and that He works everything for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Trusting in His divine plan can bring comfort and may help alleviate feelings of discouragement.
Discouragement is an inevitable part of life, but it does not have to define your faith journey. By acknowledging your feelings, seeking God’s presence, engaging in community, and drawing strength from Scripture, you can navigate through discouragement and emerge stronger in faith. Remember that it’s okay to seek help, and that God’s promises hold true even in the darkest times.

Demons of the Hebrew Bible
Since today is also the day for Lord of Spiritsposting, I've decided to make a post I considered yesterday - the demons of the Hebrew Bible. This will be a long post, so I'm inserting a "Keep Reading".
Azazel: Appears only once in Leviticus 16, as the being in the wilderness to whom the goat with the people's sins laid on it in the Day of Atonement ritual is given (this isn't sacrifice, because the animal isn't killed or offered on an altar, among other things). Becomes a Devil figure in some later Jewish literature like the Book of Enoch, and is associated with deserts, sin and goats - the name literally means "the goat that goes away" (an archaic translation gives us the word "scapegoat"), and the seemingly-random reference to goat demons in Leviticus 17:7 comes just after Azazel's appearance.
Deber: The most prominent of the gang, appearing (usually in conjunction with other figures on this list) in Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Amos, Habakkuk and the Pentateuch a total of 49 times, usually unleashed as punishment for some sin by Israel (compare "handing people over to Satan" in St. Paul's letters - 1 Corinthians 5:5, 1 Timothy 1:20). A nocturnal demon of pestilence and destruction associated with the underworld in Canaanite mythology.
Hereb: Rendered as "the sword" in English; the next most prominent one, appearing 29 times and, like Deber, in conjunction with the others. A demon of violence and destruction associated with blood-drinking (Isaiah 34:5, Jeremiah 46:10) and flesh-eating (Deuteronomy 32:42, Jeremiah 12:12) and probably the rider on a red horse from Revelation 6:3-4.
Lilit: Appears just once, Isaiah 34:14, where she's dwelling in some ruins. Usually translated as "screech owl" or "night bird", but some use "Lilith". In Mesopotamian mythology, the lili are a class of nocturnal female demons associated who kill babies and are associated with owls, so the translation as "screech owl" is acceptable. The Songs of the Sage from the Dead Sea Scrolls refer to liliyot (feminine plural) as a class of demons: "And I, the Instructor, proclaim His glorious splendour so as to frighten and to te[rrify] all the spirits of the destroying angels, spirits of the bastards, demons, liliths, howlers...
Livyatan: Usually anglicised as Leviathan, and appears five times: Job 3:8 and chapter 41, Psalms 74:12-14 and 104:26 and Isaiah 27:1. Based on those appearances, he's a multi-headed fire-breathing sea serpent immune to weapons who battles with Yahweh and (of course) always loses. The myth of a god fighting a sea serpent is a staple of world mythology. Likely correlates to the beast from the sea of Revelation 13:1-10, since Leviathan is paired with a beast from the earth (Behemoth; Job 40:15-24) - also compare Revelation 13:4 ("Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”) to Job 41:33-34 ("On earth there is not his like, a creature without fear. He sees everything that is high; he is king over all the sons of pride").
Nephilim: Famously appear in Genesis 6:1-4 as the warriors born of the sons of God and the daughters of men, understood in Second Temple Jewish texts such as the Book of Enoch and the Septuagint to be giants born of fallen angels and human women. They appear by the name Anakim or Rephaim in Genesis 14:5, 15:20, Deuteronomy 1:28, 2:10-11, 2:20-21, 3:11, 3;13, 9:2 and Joshua 11:21-22, 12:4, 13:12, 14:12, 14:15 and 15:8 and war with giants appears in 2 Samuel 21:16-22, 1 Chronicles 20:4-8 and, of course, 1 Samuel 17 (the David and Goliath story).
Qeteb: Appears just 4 times (Deuteronomy 32:24; Psalm 91:6; Isaiah 28:2; Hosea 13:14), together with Deber in the Psalms and Hosea appearances and together with Resheph in Deuteronomy; if there's any lesson from this post so far, it's that plague demons hunt in packs. A diurnal plague demon whose name is rendered in English as "destruction"; nothing more to be said.
Ra'av: The third most prominent one, appearing 35 times; a famine demon whose name is rendered in English as "famine" or "hunger" who is unleashed on Israel as punishment together with (surprise!) Hereb and either Deber or Resheph. Probably the rider on a black horse from Revelation 6:5-6.
Rephaim: The spirits of dead kings who dwell in the underworld not doing much, translated in the ESV as shades and appearing in Isaiah 14:9 and 26:14; the same imagery and concept is being used by Ezekiel 32:20-30.
Resheph: A demon of plague and conquest worshipped as a god in Canaanite and Egyptian culture, depicted as a bearded archer on a white horse. Appears just 6 times in the Hebrew Bible (Deuteronomy 32:24; Habakkuk 3:5 Psalm 78:48; Job 5:7, Song of Songs 8:6); the name is rendered as "plague" or "pestilence" or occasionally "fire" or "sparks" because the name literally means "burning". Probably the rider on a white horse from Revelation 6:2.

WHO IS CROWLEY AFTER THE FALL (PART2)
Here it is finally.
So what is the Leviathan.
In mythology and theology the Leviathan is a sea-serpent and is mentioned in several books of the Hebrew Bible such as the Book of Job and Book Isaiah and Book of Enoch. The Leviathan of the Book of Job is a reflection of the older Canaanite Lotan, a primeval monster defeated by the god Baal Hadad. Parallels to the role of Mesopotamian Tiamat defeated by Marduk have long been drawn in comparative mythology, as have been wider comparisons to dragon and world serpent narratives such as Indra slaying Vrtra or Thor slaying Jörmungandr.
Once again we see the pattern of Biblical creatures being “inspired” from pagan ones.
Thomas Aquinas described Leviathan as the demon of envy, first in punishing the corresponding sinners. Peter Binsfeld likewise classified Leviathan as the demon of envy, as one of the seven Princes of Hell corresponding to the seven deadly sins. Leviathan became associated with, and may originally have been referred to by, the visual motif of the Hellmouth, a monstrous animal into whose mouth the damned disappear at the Last Judgment, found in Anglo-Saxon art from about 800, and later all over Europe.
In the Book of Enoch, The Leviathan is a female giant chaos serpent that lives deep in the ocean, while her mate, Behemoth, is a male giant chaos beast (based off of a hippopotamus or water-ox) who lives in the mythical desert of Duidain, East of Eden.
Ring any bells. Chaos mongering (fomenting), ox, eastern gate of eden….
The Hebrew word that translates to Leviathan (Livyatan) appears six times in the Old Testament. One of them is in Job 41. The word is derived from the root Iwy or ‘ twist, coil’ and means ‘the sinuous one.’ So I think we can establish that this creature is at least indicated to be snake-like. Scholars trace the etymology of whale and crocodile
In the Book of Isaiah it is mentioned that the beast will rise from the water and will be defeated by God on the Last Day. However, quite interestingly nowhere in the Old Testament is the Leviathan written as evil. Only later scholars have equated it with the devil so that the battle between God and Chaos can be interpreted as the battle between God and the Devil.
Now let’s make this more interesting: The Gnostic sect venerate the biblical serpent of the Garden of Eden as a symbol of wisdom, which the malevolent Demiurge tried to hide from Adam and Eve. They identify the Leviathan as the serpent of Eden and in this belief system the Leviathan appears as an Ouroboros, separating the divine realm from humanity by enveloping or permeating the material world.
I mean I don’t even need to say anything further.
And he does show up in GO Season 2. The matchbox.
Here
When did this happen, I wonder……hmmmmmm
Oh YES!
Crowley wearing Aziraphale’s face
Here’s the rest of the passage from Job
1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
4 Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? (penetrate his coat of armor) or who can come to him with his double bridle?
14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
The Leviathan is a magnificent creature. And the very fact that God goes to so much trouble to describe the magnanimity of this creature is to show what God has created and hence Her magnanimity must be even greater in comparison for the Creator is always superior to the Creation. And if God can so easily abuse and humiliate this beautiful monster, then God must be worshipped and feared.
Though to the unsuspecting eye these passages may ring no familiar bells, a closer look makes you realize how Crowley-coded they are. And to think that in a story where Neil has never witten or shown anything that wasn’t woven in finely with the characters, I alwsy wondered why he chose the Book of Job for the minisode when he could have included any other one.
But it reminded me that Crowleys character is truly unrelenting. He’s a nether millstone. He won’t give up that easily. He absolutely won’t submit to anyone, and he’s shown time and time again that his vociferous litanies about running away disappear as soon as someone or something he cares about is in danger (i.e. Aziraphale). And the second coming will also threaten his creation (the universe). His refusal to submit to authority, the refusal to be subjugated is the reason he fell in the first place. And quite interestingly he doesn’t own Hell either. He resists that too. For him it’s not Heaven or Hell that matters but the resistance to Power.
I also think it’s also fitting that the Leviathan is perceived to be a monster that must be slain or enslaved but in reality is another of God’s creations just like the sun and the stars and the rivers and the mountains.
And it makes me think of how Crowley has always been labeled as evil because he fell. I think of how, at heart, he is truly gentle and kind, he’s a starmaker. But his fall, his appearance, his desire to be autonomous and his grey moral campus make him feared and a target. And that has made him the embodiment of chaos. His refusal to submit himself to the uniformity of both worlds, to the rules and guidelines that create this illusion of order sets him apart from them. He embraces the chaos that grayness offers, that being ‘human’ brings. And hence the final battle will be between God and chaos with God justifies as being the battle between good and evil because, well, he’s a demon.
The Leviathan being historically associated with the sin of envy is again I think written into the plot very carefully. He is envious of humanity’s ability to question God, to have choices to not be doomed to heaven or hell for all eternity. He is envious of what Maggie and Nina have. He’s envious of what Beelz and Gabe have.
“I mean if Gabriel and Beelzebub can go off together…..”
And then him rejecting Azirapahle’s offer— he has spent his life (a long, long life) rejecting power and authority. In his relationship with Aziraphale he found his sanctuary, a relation clean of power dynamics. Up till now they were both equal. But this new offer jeopardizes that.
And I love how his ego and pride come to play here. He would never accept being “second in command to anyone”. And his envy of how God’s mercy is free for some but wholly denied to him.

THOUGHTS:
======================
We often worry about how to evangelize to people or save a soul, and we learn all these tactics on how to do it. So, we try to save a soul, or some of us judge others' sins out in the open. We think this is the best way to save a soul. It's not actually when we do this; we are running people away; judging someone isn’t going to help anyone grow closer to God; the verse today says why worry about the speck in their eye when you have a log in yours ? We must be careful how we judge others and what we say and do because sometimes we are worried about people with something small., and we are fighting something more significant than them.
Verse 4 How can you think of saying to your friend,’ Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your eye?
Jesus goes on to say how dare you do such a thing when you can't even get past the problem you're having in your life. You will judge someone dealing with something minor; that's why we need to pray to God every day. We let him examine our heart ,and we must correct whatever it is that is stuck in our heart.
Many of us don’t consider what we are doing that could draw us further away, but we see someone doing their sin openly. We are ready to tell them they are wrong. Just because someone can't see your sin doesn’t make it better than someone you can; we can see a drunk sin, we can hear someone that cuss sin, we can see a specific sin, but some sins we don’t even see because they are done behind closed doors and are hidden, it doesn’t make that sin better it makes it just as worse.
Verse 5 Hypocrite! First, get rid of the log in your eye; then, you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.
We must deal with our sins before we deal with anyone else; that is, before we cant explain to anyone or teach anyone, we must understand the word for ourselves because if we don’t understand, how can we go to anyone else and teach them, Jesus calls that’s being a hypocrite because we are then judging someone based on a sin that they are committing.
Every day, we can go to God and ask for forgiveness of our sins, but we have that choice: will we change or continue to be the way we are? God's word says come to me, and I will give you rest; come to me as you are; a lot of us don’t try to come and try to change who we are; we are ready to change others, but we aren’t ready to do it ourselves why??
Galatians 6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.
Here's another verse that says to watch yourself, lest you be tempted. It's okay to tell others what is wrong, but you need to make sure you are walking in the spirit before you go to anyone and say what they are doing is wrong. A lot of people don’t want to do that. They don’t want to correct what is in their lives; they want to correct other people's lives, but the word says to check yourself before you try to restore anyone, and when you restore them, do it gently.
John 8:7-9 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once more, he bent down and wrote on the ground. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.
Jesus asked a group of men once if they were without a sin to cast the first stone, and all of them left because they realized just because this woman openly sinned didn’t mean they had no sin; a lot of us must start looking at our lives and say the same thing, but we don’t take the time to do that we pick and bother people that have their sin out. Still, what about worrying about your own life? Everyone likes these videos where people call out someone's sin or wrongdoing, but have we taken the time to look at ourselves? Have we asked Jesus today to change us? No, we haven’t; we must work on ourselves before we can work on others.
***Today, we learned about looking at ourselves; we learned we can’t pick on others and bother others because we have sin too. Jesus saw who people were, and he didn’t like it, but that doesn’t mean he stopped teaching ,doesn’t mean he openly called out their sins. He always told people to go and sin no more; he never openly embarrassed anyone; we must learn how to save a soul and talk to people without embarrassing them.
John 2:24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people.
Jesus knew exactly how people were; he knew what they were thinking and what they did, and he still wanted to save them; he still wanted to give his life for them; he didn’t look at this sin as being greater than the other he looked at all sin the same, and that’s what we must do. If you judge others, ask God to help you not to but to be kind and compassionate and allow him to change you. ©Seer~ Prophetess Lee

PRAYER
=====================
Heavenly Father, thank you for everything you have done for us; lord, help us to be more like you and help us not to judge others but to love , lord if there is anything in our life that looks like a log, please remove it; help us to love you with all our heart and all our soul lord we thank you for allowing us to see another day that you have made, lord we give you praise glory and honor in Jesus name amen

🕊️🩵 1: “Because of this we have to pay more attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away. 2: For if the word spoken through messengers proved to be firm, and every transgression and disobedience received a right reward, 3: how shall we escape if we neglect so great a deliverance, which first began to be spoken by the Master, and was confirmed to us by those that heard, 4: Elohim also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Set-apart Spirit, distributed according to His own desire? 5: For it is not to messengers that He has subjected the world to come, concerning which we speak. 6: But somewhere one has witnessed, saying, “What is man that You remember him, or the son of man that You look after him? 7: “You have made him a little lower than Elohim. You have crowned him with esteem and respect, and set him over the works of Your hands. 8: “You have put all in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left none that is not subjected to him. But now we do not yet see all subjected to him. 9: But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the messengers, יהושע, because of the suffering of death crowned with esteem and respect, that by the favour of Elohim He should taste death for everyone. 10: For it was fitting for Him, because of whom all are and through whom all are, in bringing many sons to esteem, to make the Prince of their deliverance perfect through sufferings. 11: For both He who sets apart and those who are being set apart are all of One, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brothers, 12: saying, “I shall announce Your Name to My brothers, in the midst of the congregation I shall sing praise to You.” 13: And again, “I shall put My trust in Him.” And again, “See, I and the children whom Elohim gave Me.” 14: Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself similarly shared in the same, so that by means of His death He might destroy him having the power of death, that is, the devil, 15: and deliver those who throughout life were held in slavery by fear of death. 16: For, doubtless, He does not take hold of messengers, but He does take hold of the seed of Aḇraham. 17: So in every way He had to be made like His brothers, in order to become a compassionate and trustworthy High Priest in matters related to Elohim, to make atonement for the sins of the people. 18: For in what He had suffered, Himself being tried, He is able to help those who are tried.” Iḇ`rim 2:1-18 🩵🕊️

The Wise Woman
1 The wise woman builds her house, But the woman of folly tears it down with her own hands. 2 He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, But he who is devious in his ways despises Him. 3 In the mouth of the ignorant fool is a rod of lofty pride, But the lips of the wise will keep them. 4 Where no oxen are, the manger is clean, But much revenue comes by the strength of the ox. 5 A faithful witness will not lie, But a false witness breathes out lies. 6 A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none, But knowledge is easy to one who has understanding. 7 Leave the presence of a fool, As you have not known lips of knowledge there. 8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit. 9 Ignorant fools scoff at guilt, But among the upright there is favor. 10 The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not share its gladness.
11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, But the tent of the upright will flourish. 12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. 13 Even in laughter the heart may be in pain, And the end of joy may be grief. 14 The one who turns back in his heart will be satisfied with his ways, But a good man will be satisfied with his. 15 The simple believes everything, But the prudent one discerns his steps.
16 A wise man fears and turns away from evil, But a fool gets angry and feels secure. 17 A quick-tempered man acts in folly, And a man of evil schemes is hated. 18 The simple inherit folly, But the prudent are crowned with knowledge. 19 The evil will bow down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous. 20 The poor is hated even by his neighbor, But those who love the rich are many. 21 He who despises his neighbor sins, But how blessed is he who is gracious to the poor. 22 Will they not wander in error who devise evil? But lovingkindness and truth will be to those who devise good.
23 In all painful labor there is profit, But mere words from the lips lead only to want. 24 The crown of the wise is their riches, But the folly of fools is folly. 25 A truthful witness delivers souls, But he who breathes out lies is deceitful. 26 In the fear of Yahweh there is strong security, And his children will have refuge. 27 The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, To turn aside from the snares of death. 28 In a multitude of people is a king’s splendor, But in the dearth of people is a prince’s ruin. 29 He who is slow to anger has great discernment, But he who is quick-tempered raises up folly. 30 A tranquil heart is life to the body, But jealousy is rottenness to the bones. 31 He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him. 32 The wicked is thrust down by his own evil, But the righteous takes refuge even in his death. 33 Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, But in the midst of fools it is merely made known. 34 Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people. 35 The king’s favor is toward a servant who acts insightfully, But his fury is toward him who acts shamefully. — Proverbs 14 | Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) Legacy Standard Bible Copyright ©2021 by The Lockman Foundation. CONSTANT OBEDIENCE
9 AND Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing.
10 THEREFORE SHE SAID TO ABRAHAM, “CAST OUT THIS BONDWOMAN AND HER SON; FOR THE SON OF THIS BONDWOMAN SHALL NOT BE HEIR WITH MY SON, NAMELY WITH ISAAC.”
11 AND THE MATTER WAS VERY DISPLEASING IN ABRAHAM'S SIGHT BECAUSE OF HIS SON.
12 BUT GOD SAID TO ABRAHAM, “DO NOT LET IT BE DISPLEASING in your SIGHT BECAUSE OF THE LAD OR BECAUSE OF YOUR BONDWOMAN. WHATEVER SARAH HAS SAID TO YOU, LISTEN TO HER VOICE; FOR IN ISAAC YOUR SEED SHALL BE CALLED.
13 YET I WILL ALSO MAKE A NATION OF THE SON OF THE BONDWOMAN, BECAUSE HE IS YOUR SEED.”
14 SO ABRAHAM ROSE EARLY IN THE MORNING, and took bread and a skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the boy to Hagar, AND SENT HER AWAY. Then she departed and wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba."
Genesis 21:9-14 (NKJV)
One thing that should be noticed in Abraham's walk and relationship with God is his constant obedience. Even when what God instructed him to do is displeasing, he will still obey (Genesis 21:14)
What transpired between Abraham and Sarah, when Sarah demanded that Hagar, the bondwoman, and her son should be sent away. That Ishmael, Hagar's son, would not be heir with Isaac, Sarah's son (Genesis 21:10).
What Sarah asked or demanded for was displeasing to Abraham, but he did obey God anyway (Genesis 21:11,12,14).
Obedience is a major key in a believer's walk with God. We could see various instances where God had instructed Abraham to do one thing or another and he obeyed.
a. When God told him to leave his father's house for a land which He would show him, he obeyed (Genesis 12:1,4; Hebrews 11:8).
b. When God told him about establishing a covenant with him, and that, the sign of the covenant is the circumcision of the foreskin of every male in his family, he obeyed promptly (Genesis 17:11).
c. Abraham also obeyed when he was asked and instructed by God to release or let Hagar and her son go (Genesis 21:12,13).
d. When he, Abraham, was being tested by God to offer his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice on the altar, he also obeyed (Genesis 22:1-3).
Note: If a believer would have a solidified relationship with God, a covenant based one, obedience is the major key or an important element to get it done.
The depth of your communion and covenant with God is determined by your prompt obedience in every instruction given to you.
Those who are considered to be walking with God are the people or believers who live their life in obedience to his words. If your relationship with God would be cordial, obedience to His instructions, whether pleasing or not, convenient or not, is a major factor.
Someone might not be a Bible scholar, that is, the person might not all that be versed or skilled or proficient in the Bible, but if he or she is of childlike faith in obeying and trusting God's judgement on every issue or matter of life; he or she would be endeared to God's heart.
Another thing that is worthy of being noted in the passage, the text of this teaching, is, God promises to bless Ishmael also, the son of the bondwoman, and make a nation of him, because he is Abraham's seed (Genesis 21:13).
It means whatever is of Abraham would receive God's favour and blessing, because of the covenant God had established with him. Abraham was already told that all the families of the earth would be blessed through or via him (Genesis 12:3).
As a believer in Christ Jesus, you also can build your relationship with God to a covenant-establishing level—a level where you become God's friend and confidant: "YOU ARE MY FRIENDS IF YOU DO WHATEVER I COMMAND YOU" (John 15:14 NKJV).
"AND the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS ACCOUNTED TO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” AND HE WAS CALLED THE FRIEND OF GOD."
James 2:23 (NKJV)
