Polyhedra on dotted isometric paper

Drawing polyhedra on dotted isometric paper is so calming. One does not need to use a ruler or a compass. Instead one can just count dots to determine the length, and play around with the angles.

Did I just spend half a day making an isometric ruler grid for Clip Studio instead of drawing as I intended? Perhaps...
Anyway, here's a totally unrelated tool in case someone finds it useful!

Drew chris' apartment that she keeps throughout the books... Girl please buy some furniture ur apartment could be a palace
Anyways her apartment isn't even decrepit or dirty.. it's just super barren. She eats out most of the time and doesn't spend a lot of time in it so it's unusually tidy. It's also perpetually dark in there. Chris lives like a damn vampire
Additionally i decided while making this that chris is a massive soul + blues fan,, she deserved a good music taste

F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2024 Circuit & Event Map
Rod Hunt was commissioned by the Saudi Motorsport Company to create a detailed 'Disneyland' style map illustration for the F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2024 held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Measuring 6.175 kilometers the Jeddah Corniche Circuit is the fastest and longest street circuit on the F1 calendar. Its many high-speed corners make it a favourite for both drivers and fans. The illustrated map was used on the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix website, wayfinding and in the visitors event guide.
The map needed to capture the vibrancy and excitement of the night race and include the F1 Paddock Club, Premium Hospitality, F1 Champions Club, Fan Villages, Jeddah Art Promenade, Concert arena and parking facilities. Other local landmarks including the Jeddah Yacht Club, Floating Mosque, Shangrila Hotel and Red Sea Mall were also represented.

Day 344 - Hearing in Blocks
Just a block model of a hearing aid, inspired by Minecraft.
(Design sketches below)

#minecraft#hearing aid#hearing aids#year 4#art#A friend suggested the idea and I decided to give it a go. It was a fun exercise~#Though having to draw my own isometric grid and having trouble with making the design work (thus having to erase often)?#I'll at least appreciate the fun of the designing~

Some redraws, and an additional chibi (Patreon)
#Doodles#Redraw#Halfway Autumn#Diana#Wes#Carol#I don't think I ever showed off the Fortune Teller? :0#Well that's him! That's the Fortune Teller! :D#This style was so fun and cute at the time and I keep feeling nostalgic!#What was up in 2019 that kept having cute chibi styles#(It was the looser art style in general it was just sketching 24/7 pfft)#It's always good to revisit some lads that I've set down for a while ♪#I was hoping to get some new ideas for the HA map since the area is still kinda empty but nothin' doin' so far#The idea of making some modular isometric locations does sound kind fun tho :) I haven't cracked out my grid paper in ages#For the moment tho it's nice just to see some familiar faces#They're all still so cute hehe <3#I'd like to add Todd and Keita to the chibi lineup as well! Get a whole rainbow finished off hehe#Here we've got a warm purple - green - pink - and gold; so that leaves blue (Todd) and cool purple (Keita) and the rest#Does Carol's pink count as red...? Pastel rainbow hehe#Then again I don't know if the Fortune Teller counts as yellow or orange - probably the latter if it's all pastels!#So many ideas that sound so fun in colour ahh

I’m playing BG3 and sat in character creator for a few hours and made a couple different choices… I eventually settled on my tief sona. Which I don’t often play self inserts in games but there’s a first time for everything.
However.
A buddy of mine who played it a lot in early access told me that the guardian is intended to be ~sexy~ which, while I’m not sure whether or not it’s just him being the way he is, sparked an idea in my acespec brain.

I DONT KNOW WHAT IT MEANS YET BUT. BEHOLD. MY CLONE.
#baulders gate 3#bg3#games#ashtalks#as for my opinion about the game#it’s alright#it’s holding my attention#I’m not usually a fan of isometric games like this tho#and the lack of a grid is really throwing me#also sometimes shit happens in combat I didn’t intend#also the UI makes me want to fucking scream#if I wasn’t already a DM tbh I’d have put it down after 20 minutes and gotten a refund#because this game is too complicated#I wouldn’t call it a bad game tho#it’s just not really for me#but it’s holding my attention well enough to probs finish it#and it’s nice to actually see faerun#this means I probs won’t play the other BGs tho#sona#I’m also dodging romance options left and right#I really should have played as a character who’s willing to fyuck

Dodecahedron and stellated dodecahedron WIP - perspective drawing on isometric dot paper

So I drew this dodecahedron and then the stellated dodecahedron below.
And when I drew that stellated dodecahedron I made some very annoying mistakes (in the last steps!)...
As I could not erase those ink lines, I improved and cut out the parts with mistakes...

Sadly, the cut outs are irritating for the perspective drawing. (I will show you why shading the faces will help make sense of this shape once I have made a second drawing of it.)

Now I cannot shade the stellated dodecehedron as it would look very messy with the cuts.
So I just use the stellated octahedron part as an interesting collage item.
I could even insert neon-colored paper, which would make it look fancy.
But for making a shaded drawing I might draw a second one - but without those mistakes...

Calling Ultima the single most consistently groundbreaking, pioneering, influential series of videogames in the history of the medium would be kind of an understatement (Akalabeth and Ultima I pioneering the idea of adapting tabletop RPGs to the medium of videogames in a way that established so many elements that would become intrinsic to the identity of the genre for decades, like the concept of grid-based first person dungeon crawling and tile-based overworld travel, later games establishing the mold for isometric top-down RPGs, Ultima Online being a critical tipping point in cementing the popularity of the MMORPG), but even among a series that consistently pumped groundbreaking videogame after groundbreaking videogame it's just completely impossible to overstate how massive Ultima Underworld's legacy stands over a huge chunk of the gaming medium, even if its effects manifest in subtle ways nowadays like I legitimately believe no individual videogame in the history of the medium has been as influential as it.
It's legitimately insane how many seemingly unrelated videogames can be directly traced back to Underworld in some form or another. Like, to get the obvious out of the way first, it established the DNA of the immersive sim genre, so if you like games like System Shock, Thief, Deus Ex, Bioshock, Dishonored, Prey, all of those games were either made by people who worked on Ultima Underworld (sometimes by the same studio even), or otherwise directly influenced by games that were.
But also, if you like any first person shooters influenced by Doom and other ID Software games? John Carmack was there when the demo of Underworld was first shown and decided he could create a faster texture-mapped first-person 3D engine. Which he did, at the cost of sacrificing true polygonal 3D environments in favor of the pseudo-3D that he would use for Catacombs 3D and Wolfenstein 3D, eventually resulting in the creation of Doom. RPGs like the Elder Scrolls or Gothic? It would take all day to list off how much they directly owe to Ultima Underworld. That videogame trope of finding out what happened to the occupants of a place through finding in-game logs and documents? It was established by Ultima Underworld and popularized by one of its successors.
That's without mentioning how many games directly cite it as an influence. Some already mentioned like Bioshock, Deus Ex, and Elder Scrolls, but also like. Half-life 2? Tomb Raider? Gears of War? Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines? All cite it as a direct influence in their game design.
Like of course a lot of these things are by virtue of being one of the earliest free-moving 3D first person videogames, when you're that early in the history of the medium you'll inevitably end up being the first to do *something* that otherwise someone else would eventually have ended up doing anyway, but no other game has a "first videogame to do [thing]" list anywhere as long and important as Ultima Underworld's.

This looks like lots of progress but the beds were already a thing along with all the other furniture.
Most of the rest of the day was spent on those stairs, I kid you not.

[image description: chart titled Talk Like A Technician: The Use of Technobabble.
Technology in Star Trek is complex and works in scientific concepts and principles that are far beyond what the majority of Players and Gamemasters are knowledgeable in. Throughout the collected media, Starfleet officers discuss technology using terms that most Players are not going to know. Instead of expecting Players to study and memorize technical manuals and reference books that have been published over the years we've provided an easy way to talk like a Starfleet engineer. Anyone can do "technobabble"!
To use the chart simply gather and roll d20s and consult the chart below for technical new terms and concepts.
Occasionally portions of the chart may not be applicable to the scene or circumstance. In that case simply omit that portion of technobabble!
The chart has six columns, Roll, Action, Descriptor, Source, Effect, and Device. Each has 20 rows.
Roll: numbers 1-20
Action: refocus, amplify, synchronize, redirect, recalibrate, modulate, oscillate, intensify, nullify, boost, reverse, reconfigure, actuate, focus, invert, reroute, modify, restrict, reset, extend
Descriptor: microscopic, macroscopic, linear, non-linear, isometric, multivariant, nano, phased, master, auxiliary, primary, secondary, tertiary, back-up, polymodal, multiphasic, tri-fold, balanced, oscillating
Source: Quantum, positronic, thermionic, osmotic, neutrino, spatial, resonating, thermal, photon, ionic, plasma, nucleonic, verteron, gravimetric, nadion, subspace, baryon, tetryon, polaron, tachyon
Effect: flux, reaction, field, particle, gradient, induction, conversion, polarizing, displacement, feed, imagining, reciprocating, frequency, pulse, phased, harmonic, interference, distortion, dampening, invariance
Device: inhibitor, equalizer, damper, chamber, catalyst, coil, unit, grid, regulator, sustainer, relay, discriminator, array, coupling, controller, actuator, harmonic, generator, manifold, stabilizer.

Supersonic Art's Favorite Japanese Sketchbooks.

Croquis.
Maruman's Croquis Sketchbook is my absolute favorite sketchbook of all time. It comes in several different sizes as well as white or cream colored paper and is just exceptional for drawing and multiple mediums.

Mnemosyne.
With a strong back and incredible paper, Mnemosyne can be used as a sketchbook or journal.

Isometric Grid Notebook.
Koala Tools' Isometric Grid Notebook is the best available for its purpose. Perfect for concept art, game making, and so much more.

Deleter.
Deleter sketchbooks are the old school standby and have stood up to the test of time. You can't go wrong with one!
(Did you like this post? If so, let me know. I'm thinking of starting to do more posts like this.)
