haiii i was just curious. have u ever merged onmyoji and dgs in ur head
Hey there!
Yes, in fact I drew a crossover fanart a few months ago when I started playing Onmyoji xD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's just say that these are both pairs of besties/ p a r t n e r s where one gets "killed" and loses his memories while the other one goes to insane lengths for his sake 🌚 They have fundamentally different stories but it's funny how they both fit this very specific trope.
I posted it on my twitter but I'll soon post it here too ✌️
And thanks for asking. I didn't think people would be interested 😭💕

Hii!! Hope you're doing well, i just discovered you and im OBSESSED with your posts. Idk if you saw the chapter 260 leaks yet, so if you dont wanna get spoiled, please read this request after reading the new chapter. I wanted to request some headcanons for ness, kaiser, reo and bachira where they are dating the reader and the readers parents basically sees them as their son (my parents are just like that for my older sisters boyfriend and they call him their son. Even invite him over for vacations and family dinners everytime. I think its really cute🥹💕) I was thinking of this request especially for kaiser after seeing his backstory. Feel free to ignore if you want to. Also thank you for your posts i LOVE the way you write💕
S/o with a welcoming family - Reo, Kaiser, Bachira, Ness

Note : hi thank you for your request! You're so sweet thank you dear ♡ You don't know but that's a sensible point for myself and the day you send this I spend the night crying about my shitty parents
Tumblr media
Kaiser
He's shocked the first time he meets your parents
He's not the type to feel comfortable around parental figure for obvious reasons
Your parents welcoming him like he belongs here touch him in a way he can't explain
He's invited more and more, your mom rely on him when she needs help and so does your dad, it's all new to him
If you have a rather intimate and physical touch is a norm, he's probably shocked at first
It has nothing to do with you and the way you touch him, yet he feels like crying the first time your mother hugged him
He's probably less cocky since he doesn't feel the need to do so around them
It just became a safe place, just after you
Ness
With you and how you talk about your parents, he already thinks that he can get along with them
But when your mom mentions how she loves books/movies he can't help but talk about what he likes as well !
He would probably be closer to her in that sense but he does his best for your dad to like him as well
He likes to help around so he's accepted really soon
If you have younger siblings he LOVES to spend time with them !!
It's endearing and you know how bad he needs it
Bachira
He'll bring so much joy to your parents
Particularly if your an only child
Seeing you with someone so childish will probably heal sometignf in them, you seem so happy and joyful
Bachrira would feel weird at first to be treated like you are but will comes to love it
He loves your parents a lot
To the point where he'll even celebrate his birthday with your family once in a while
He's never been welcome somewhere like this, it will heal something inside of him as well for sure
Reo
He's always welcome with hugs or your father's gently patting his back
He learn what it is to be listened to
He's used to speak without people listening to him so the first time your parents answer and go on the same conversation as him, he'll feel seen
His jaw clenched but a genuine smile will form on his lips
They're just like you are, warm and welcoming
Your dad LOVES him so much
They can talk together for hours and you love to see him this comfortable around your family
If you have siblings, they love him I just know it they told me
You can tell how radiant he is and it makes you glad you introduced him
He's always welcome with hugs or your father's gently patting his back

SLASHER AU - Plot Introduction
CW/TW for: descriptions of psychological horror, blood, gore, disturbing themes, etc. Basically, anything you might find in an 80s Slasher, or in Welcome Home's horror content.
The Backstory.
Wally Darling is a puppet whose origins are murky and not fully known. It is likely he was created to be used in a show, but that show never came to fruition and thus he was never brought to life. One hot summer night, he was found by a wandering kid, who discovered him discarded in the nearby woods. That kid ended up taking him back home and cleaning him up, bringing him to school the next day to show his friends. His friends were just as excited to see the new toy, and for the first time ever, Wally was being appreciated by others. This spark is what brought the puppet to life, although he did not reveal his living nature quite yet. Once the kid who discovered him brought him back home, Wally would sneak out of the house, trying to grasp his sentience.
Upon pondering his newfound existence, Wally realized a few things:
He quickly came to the realization that something was not right with his existence. He knew that he was supposed to be part of a show, and that in another universe, that had come to be. Due to this never happening, his existence is somewhat twisted and corrupted.
He has the ability to alter reality and time in some ways, the extent of which isn't truly known.
Although he couldn't exactly pinpoint why, he knew that his new friends were in some way supposed to be like him. Puppets. Yet they aren't, they're humans.
Still entirely new to this existence thing, and wanting to learn more, he used his powers to take on a human form much like his new friends. The next day at school, there was a new student introduced to the class: Wally Darling. He seemed to click almost instantly with the group that had found him prior. The group soon became childhood friends, and grew up together in the same neighborhood. Wally had used his abilities to fabricate an entire human backstory: a very successful father, a house just in the outskirts of town that no one had noticed prior, etc. No one had ever learned he was a puppet, and he had a feeling that telling them would end poorly.
As time went on, and the group of friends went to college together, Wally was becoming unable to rest. Why was the show cancelled? Why was he a puppet, but his friends human? What went wrong? It was driving him to near-madness. One day, he came up with a most brilliant idea...
If his friends are human when they aren't supposed to be, then why not turn them into puppets himself?
Of course, one doesn't simply just turn a person into a puppet. In order for a human to become a puppet, they have to be dead first. Then, their life essence can be transferred to a puppet vessel. It was a perfect plan! Or, it was to Wally, at the very least. Anyone with a sane mind could easily tell him this was a horrible idea. No one would willingly let their friend kill them! So Wally would have to be a bit forceful. Yet, every time he eliminated all of them, something would go wrong. When he would bring his friends back, they would be upset at him for what he did. Why wasn't it working?
Due to things never working out right, he would rewind time again and again. Perhaps the scenario was what was wrong, so he would change it up. Maybe it was the time, the place, the cause of death... He would try everything over and over just to see if it would work. The repetition of having to bring his friends to death over and over was making him desensitized to the idea of gore and bloodshed. As things kept happening, his methods got worse, and his state of mind more unstable. This is what led to the slasher-like gore-filled horror that is the Slasher AU. Will this group of 80s friends ever find peace, or will they keep experiencing horrors beyond their comprehension?
The Setting.
The AU takes place in the mid-to-late 80s. The fashion, trends, etc. generally fit that time period as a result. The location varies depending on the story, but most of them are at least close to the town that the characters live in. The majority of characters are human. There are living puppets, but most examples in history are either celebrities or the result of supernatural phenomena. It is unclear to the general public how a puppet is granted life.
The Characters.
The main characters started off as childhood friends. They grew close fast, partially due to all of them being made fun of for their own quirky traits that made them different than the rest of the class. Growing up together, they've become a sort of found-family, inseperable and sticking together in the face of everything that comes at them. As of the current time in the story, they are all college-age young adults.
Wally Darling: Wally, for as long as he can remember, has lived in the villa just off the outskirts of town. He was raised by his single father who happens to be a very successful businessman. Of course, this is what people think, at least. Everyone in the friend group knows one thing about Wally: he's the best friend you could possibly have, of course! He's always there to hang out with, give advice in a time of need, and lend something to a friend in need. Despite being socially savvy, his interests are often considered odd for his personality. He's much more into artistic endeavors, and has an especially unique interest in puppetry. Although his felt creations tend to scare others, he's actually quite a chicken! He hates horror movies and gets spooked easily. If you're looking for Wally, your best bet is to look for Barnaby. They're nearly inseperable! They often go out to hang, or even sleep over at each others' houses. You'll never find a better pair of best friends (and lovers)!
Barnaby B. Beagle: Barnaby was an orphan as a real young boy, but was taken in by a very kind Miss Beagle. It was tough raising him as it was hard for Miss Beagle to make ends meet. Despite the odds, she pushed through, wanting to give her son the best life she could. With a love for working on old cars and a penchant for jokes, Barns has grown to be quite the reliable guy. If you have a problem that needs fixing, he'll be there to help, and to share some of his mom's baked goods as well! He does struggle with a bit of a smoking problem, but only really indulges if he's stressed. If he isn't with Wally, you might find him digging around a junkyard for car scraps, or going to a car show at the local drive-in! If you're sitting in his car, you might be surprised by what plays on the radio: a mix of cheesy pop songs and glam metal! Barnaby's best friend (and lover as well) is Wally. The two stick together like glue, and are often found together. Wally has always been there to help Barnaby through the tough times, and Barnaby has always been willing to return the favor.
Julie Joyful: Julie's always out and about, often hanging out at the mall, or checking out nearby shops. When she's at home, its with her friends! She'll always invite the others over for an exciting sleepover. You ever have that friend that's always there to hype you up and help you stay safe? That's Julie. She'll fix your make-up, give you relationship advice, walk you home at night, etc. She's protective of her friends, and won't let anyone mess with them. She loves fashion and music, sure, but she also loves math and science quite a bit. She'll read up on various fields of study in her spare time out of curiosity. If that's not enough, she loves to rollerskate, and will go out skating with Eddie from time to time (she tries to get Frank to tag along, but he's scared of slipping up). Of course, you'll often find her with her bestie Frank. Despite appearing to be polar opposites, the two are great friends. They often talk about entomology and biology together. Julie has two girlfriends: Sally and Poppy. She loves them with all her heart and is always spoiling them at the mall. They have lots of sleepovers together where they talk about anything and everything on their minds, and share hobbies with one another.
Sally Starlet: Sally is never at home, but that's because her passion is for the stage! Her work in musicals and plays takes up much of her time, but the other time is for hanging out with friends. She's an important part of the local theatre scene. Film fanatic and born performer, Sally lives for the drama and lives for the fame. While she could live without it, she has to admit that she loves attention, specifically if it's earned by captivating an audience with a story. She loves to watch the newest movies with her pals. Just be warned, she'll pick it apart for all of its inconsistencies! She knows her stuff and won't hesitate to point out if an adaptation was done poorly. Sally also quite enjoys making papercrafts and playing board games. She hosts a game night every weekend and introduced the group to tabletop roleplay games. Due to her love of drama, you can always find out the latest news from her, whether good or bad. That doesn't mean she'll stand for ill-intentioned gossip though! Sally's closest gal-pals (and lovers!) are Julie and Poppy. She loves to rant to the two, and enjoys taking them on movie dates as well. She'll often express her love for them through story recommendations and similar.
Poppy Partridge: Poppy is a bit of a homebody. She rarely leaves the house unless accompanied by the others, often sticking to the kitchen or her room. She has an internship at the local bakery, so she'll often be found there as well, baking fresh pies and desserts. It takes a bit to warm up to Poppy. She struggles heavily with anxiety, and tends to be very shy as well. It's not that she dislikes company, but she's scared of upsetting people, so she avoids the difficulty of meeting new people to prevent that. Even though it takes time to earn her trust, she's quite the friend, often providing a warm hug to those who need it. She enjoys trying out new recipes to share with her closest buddies, but doesn't like using new cooking tech. She prefers to stick to the older tools left in her mother's cupboard. She also enjoys knitting and sewing, and is always eager to help a friend with a fashion disaster. Her wardrobe is always on top due to being able to make whatever kind of clothes she needs for the ocassion! Poppy is very close to Julie and Sally. The three are girlfriends, and often stick together. Poppy always helps Julie make new fashion pieces to wear out, and helps Sally with costumes for theatre productions. In return, the girls are always there to provide her a safe space and to comfort her when the going gets tough.
Frank Frankly: Frank is quite a studious young man, often staying pent-up in his room, only coming out to hang out with friends or eat. His dad often has to tell him to lighten up and live a little. He's proud of him, but really worries for his mental health. A bit genius, but also a bit paranoid, Frank is the group's thinker. He's good at scheduling hangouts, but will also tense up at anything even slightly a risk. Despite his stiff personality, they all love him the same and do all they can to help him loosen up. He spends a good chunk of time at the library reading up on insects, plant care, and local urban legends. Although he's always on edge, he's easily entranced with stories of cryptids and monsters. He likes the mystique behind it all and enjoys solving mysteries as well. Give him a puzzle, and he'll think it through within minutes. Despite this, there are still some things that he struggles to grasp, like jokes for instance. His best friend Julie is working on that with him. Frank's got a soft spot for his lovers, Eddie and Howdy. Although he's always so high-strung, his lovers help calm him down, bringing him a light-hearted laugh every now and then. He thoroughly enjoys reading Eddie's poetry, and helps Howdy with calculations at his job sometimes.
Eddie Dear: Eddie's house-life isn't too notable, he's got a loving parent who supports his life choices. However, he has quite the active work-life, often trying out different jobs when he has the chance. Of course, his main and most steady job is working as a mailman for the local area. While he seems big and intimidating, Eddie is one of the sweetest guys you can meet. He tried lots of things when he was in highschool (choir, band, football, the whole nine yards!) and hasn't quite stopped trying everything since, even in college. Although he gets overwhelmed easily by the amount of options in his life, he has an ambitious spark, one that pushes him to discover himself and live life to the fullest. Eddie's favorite things are quite a colorful variety. He loves to rock out to metal, write poetry and love stories, rollerskate at the rink, and dance with a partner! He's gotten picked on in the past for his softer interests, but his friends have stood up for him time and time again. Eddie is a big softie for Frank and Howdy, his two partners. He's always trying to deliver hand-written notes and gifts to the two. Whenver he gets startled by a bug, Frank will take care of it for him. Whenever he needs an ice-cold soda after work, Howdy's got his back.
Howdy Pillar: Howdy has a bit of a chaotic house life. Having quite a number of siblings and cousins, he doesn't get much time to himself at home. That's why you'll rarely find him there! He often will be found manning the family's bodega or hanging out with the others. Getting up bright and early every day, Howdy has one thing on his mind: success! He's a very optimistic fellow, although his mannerisms are more old-fashioned, almost as if he was born in the wrong generation. He likes older aesthetics and tends to speak like he came from an old film with mannerisms to match. Despite these oddities, he's a rather popular guy, likely due to the sheer positivity he radiates. He's been urged to try out sports in college, but never really clicked with them. What he really likes to do is hang ten and surf some waves at the beach. Sometimes, he'll also tag along with Barnaby to a car show now and again. Howdy is very close to Frank and Eddie, and the three are also lovers as well. He loves his two boyfriends with all his heart, and they're happy to have him as well! He'll often stay over at their houses to avoid having to come home after a long shift.

levihan for the chart?
thanks for the ask, Anon!
send a (real or crack) ship to get charted!
have my take on (canon) Levihan here:
Tumblr media
and have a lengthy explanation beneath the read more link 😁
listen, i love these two fuckers to death and back and they're both unquestionably good people, but let's be real: they are insufferable together. now, i put them there on this chart according to the canon of them, where they're not officially a romantic thing, so keep that in mind.
Hange and Levi are such complementary opposites, they're making each other's most off-putting traits worse: Hange's curiosity and excitement are enhanced tenfold when they meet Levi and his amazing abilities, whereas his reaction to their overly friendly behavior is to bite back with even more of a grumpy attitude (which is not his entire personality, obviously, but may look like it to many people who only know him from afar and from his public interactions with Hange). which in turn only makes Hange even more hungry to unravel the mystery that he is, not only as Humanity's Strongest but also as a person and fellow soldier who did not join their ranks in the most conventional way after that. and you know that's just gonna drive Levi even crazier, right??
the thing is, i also think they make each other worse in the sense that neither of them has a healthy, normal way to relate to other people, Levi because of his background, and Hange because of their already advanced position as a veteran Scout who's been around for a few expeditions when he's introduced and their own backstory probably but WHO KNOWS BECAUSE WE STILL DON'T GOT CANON INFO ABOUT IT DO W- anyway. and so, i'm a hundred per cent sure it would take them years to realize they're in love with each other, because this banter-filled, bickering friendship they have going on that's absolutely Abnormal (you don't bathe your friends and you don't know your friend's knock by ear alone and you don't spend sleepless nights exchanging theories about Titans while Levi pretends to be annoyed and Hange rambles on and on and doesn't realize he's sneaking them pieces of food to make sure they don't fucking perish because Moblit begged him to at dinner that night when they once again didn't show up (.... yeah that last one was fully my own lil mind, but the first 2 examples are canon!!)) seems so natural to both of them they don't even question how it looks or what it could mean? they're so fucking clueless like, hell yeah we share a bed, but only because Hange won't get into one if Levi doesn't lie there with them under the pretense of discussing whatever they want, and he himself doesn't get any sleep if they're not snoring lightly in his ears; and that's just one of the quirks that make every single new Scout convinced they're dating/married. they're both emotionally constipated for various reasons and worsening that in each other, and you know what the worst part it? they would only giggle (well, Hange would giggle, Levi would bite back a smile) at that accusation from Miche because of the shit joke in there neither of them could resist, and would completely miss the point.
mind you, i obviously think they make each other better in general, Levi by being one of the persons who tether Hange to real life while indulging in their crazy once he learns how to handle it and Hange by helping him open up to others instead of only being wary of them while being able to take his soemtimes harsh words (and then in many different ways as each other's support though the many MANY shitstorms they suffer together). i just think, when it comes to interacting with one another in canon? total mentos + coke, fucking pariahs, couldn't stand being their friend for one day without yelling at them to get their shit together already and get married.

Hi magpie! I’m curious: when it comes to original stories, what’s your approach to writing characters? Do you need them to feel them "alive" before you can dive into the story or do you prefer discovering them as you go?
Hey lovely! Thanks for the fascinating ask!
Creating characters in itself doesn't feel very hard for me. When writing fanfic, I'd come up with secondary OCs as needed (from Esther and Dawn in 9 ½ Days to Hush, darling's Nariyoshi to Amy in The Gift) without it seeming a struggle. I wanted a character, bang--there she was. I can't say as to how great they were, but I had no trouble in creating them.
Main characters are different: there's a lot more at stake. They need to carry a novel. This is one of the things that fanfic does NOT prepare a writer for. In fact, it can be detrimental for one's craft. Because the question isn't just to come up with a new character's looks and personality, but also to make them compelling enough for a reader to follow for a few hundred pages. The question is how to make a character that readers will like or even love--or love to hate, if she's the antagonist.
I'm predominantly a pantser. In the past, I'd get a burst of inspiration, start writing and come up with a character and a story. I'd discover the character the same way I discovered the plot. The character took shape as I was writing and their quirks or personality became slowly apparent. In between sessions, I'd spend some time thinking about their backstory. A vibe, a grasp of a character is enough to propel me to write them and flesh them out as I go.
Also, finding the right name is incredibly crucial for me. Not kidding. It's like a magic spell. Once I find the right name for the character, they come alive.
Lately, though, I've been trying to write an original romance, but I have stalled while figuring out the two main leads. I suspect the main reason for the block is the pressure of knowing this is something I'll want to publish: lots and lots of self-doubting and hesitation, which doesn't make for a fruitful writing session. This ask is actually a good reminder that I'm in a decent place to write them and I shouldn't let my doubts undermine my self-confidence. I should just plunge in, as it were.
Things that help me to get a feel for a character and things that don't:
I find character questionnaires absolutely useless. Knowing someone's favourite cookie or the name of her fave teacher does not help me in any way figure out how to write her better. If I need such a detail, it'll come up when writing.
Backstory is super important. This will shape the character and will inform their choices. I spend a lot of time thinking about that.
Because I figure out the characters as I write them, instead of questionnaires or lists, I might try writing a throwaway scene, as I call them. These are little scenes that aren't meant for the novel--they're just to get a feel for how the characters act on page. Often AUs. They're like fanfics of my OCs. Once I wrote a scene where my two characters find a baby on their doorstep in a contemporary setting. It was a short thing but it was illuminating to see how they both dealt with an emergency. The new valet was something similar. It's why I love prompt challenges, and I believe writing scenes like that makes for a better story, even if it feels at first glance that you're procrastinating.
On the topic of how to introduce a character and make them likable, or at least interesting, I pay attention to how characters are introduced in other media. Esp TV as it's easier to notice it there. I'm absolutely enamoured with how C-dramas introduce characters. I've learned loads just by seeing how Nirvana in Fire introduced Prince Jingyan.

I'm blurbing I've been wanting to blurb to someone
When their identities eventually get found out it was Vara who discovered it first and he's the one who remembers them talking about that. When Irza finds out he has many reactions but doesn't think of that immediately, instead thinking he might need to fight his way out of this or erase Vara's memory (bc he inherited that ability from his missing dad, blood magic)
His dragon thing is extremely complicated. His missing dad is a full dragon and his mom is human. There aren't any other half dragons and in fact, the most dragon anyone else is, is only 2/8ths max. Dragons are discriminated horribly and treated however people want to treat them bc they're seen as weak since they're only a little strong physically but can't use magic (the dragon blood is too strong for their mixed race to handle so they can't, that's the real reason). He can become a full on dragon but it only happens once way later in the story and he doesn't even remember it...without his dad he can't learn to shapeshift freely.
Quickvine and Voidshire (their hero and villain names respectively) DO sit and talk all heartfelt one day but Quickvine thought it was a trick at first and to no surprise at all, Voidshire decides to do something at the end to ruin it and make it not so open...he has to be a villain after all! He never wanted to be a villain tho, he just needed money to keep his mom alive but no-one would hire a dragonkin and he was marked as a villain by others.
Fun fact! Irzayn tried to become a hero by signing up once, before he ever tried stealing! They threw him out when they said dragonkin were too weak to even be tested and he tried to argue. THEN he became a villain.
Vara didn't do that to his mom, in the end he's actually key in SAVING her from it! His mom was ambushed by people that don't seem important in the story yet, but they have everything to do with his missing dad...his dad's not evil, I promise...the seed inside her has a mind of its own and is trying to eat her life force itself to grow, and any attempt to remove it makes it attack her. She's only alive bc Irzayn happens to have inherited healing magic from her!
How's that for a blurb? Any more questions?
BLURB!! HELLO!!
oohohohohoh do you have a scene planned? is it a spoiler???? oooaejfdsjajsjdgwsddnf and :00 irza can do that? what else can he do? what is like the basic theme of his powers? are his powers (mentally and/or physically) draining? WHO IS HIS DAD AND DOES SAID DAD COME INTO PLAY? :0
what are some of vara's other reactions? in future battles does vara reveal he knows by hinting at it, does it come up when the two of them are out of costume? or is just like a heavy weight on vara's shoulder?
mm love some non pure-blood human discrimination <3333 (wow that makes me sound like a horrible person 😭)
OOHHH called it!! that's a shame he can't remember, like i said it'd be pretty useful lol (and also destructive and might ruin irza's life, but yk :D)
when he does fully transform, when does it happen? is anyone a witness? (hint hint quickvine/vara? C:<) and ALSO when he shifts fully i assume his magic becomes more powerful right? how destructive could that be if he's not familiar with it? one of my favorite tropes is a character being introduced to powerful powers and accidentally destroying things in the process of processing it lmaoo
when they sitdown to have a heart-to-heart, does void initiate it, then?
ohohoh i wonder what void does!! is it something dangerous or just verbally dangerous? hmmmm i wonder,,,,, also poor him i love the villains with horrible/sad backstories (again with the looking like a bad person thing oh my----),,,,,,
i can only imagine the disappointment in quickvine, even though he was expecting it. does any of the conversation end up happening or is it just ditched as soon as they meet up?
you mention signing up to be a hero, does that mean that there's some type of hero committee,, or is it just general government stuff? are there any other heroes around? how about villains? vigilantes?
OHHH healing magic for a villain! that's interesting, but i love it >:D
also 👀👀👀 i'm so curious about what happened to the dad!!!!
yes lovely blurb !! sorry for taking a while to get it out 😅

--AA5 SPOILERS AHEAD--
okay so that's it for dual destinies! let me tell you, this one was a BLAST. my favorite in the series this far
first off, i want to say i understand why many people hate on everything that's not the trilogy. aa4 and aa5 feel very disconnected with each other style and gameplay-wise, whilst the trilogy was very consistent and homogeneous. i can understand that, however, once you start thinking of the rest of the games as standalones rather than part of another trilogy, it's easier to get through
this one... this one was emotionally harsher than any other games, except perhaps that final case in trials and tribulations. maybe it was the fact you already know and love the characters, maybe the nostalgia, but those last two cases were... omg. i cried a lot, they are full with raw emotion and tragedy and angst. they're incredible, there's not much I can say about them.
i was a little skeptical of the 3d models at first, however, i got used pretty quickly to the change. (not to what they did to klavier gavin, that is a hate crime your honor). the voices changing are also something you eventually forget and they didn't break my immersion.
as for the new game mechanic –mood matrix–, i am literally obsessed with it. it feels like by this point in the series they already knew what they were up to when introducing the lawyers' special abilities, and knew what they were doing. the mood matrix is engaging, it's fun and challenging without becoming impossible. i absolutely loved the matrix and was looking forward to in in every trial.
the characters, I'm not going to lie, got to me, and they got to me hard. phoenix working again, with his lawyer's badge on, was particularly emotional, given all he's been through. apollo does not have a particular good time in this game because of his circumstances, however, once he manages to work through that trauma and finally lets go of clay's coat... cathartic, really. good to see him get some fleshed out backstory that doesn't feel that it comes out of nowhere. and athena, oh, athena. my love for athena knows no limits. that poor girl has gone through so. much. shit! and she's still the most adorable, energetic person. her story broke my heart then pulled it back together. and what can I say about simon blackquill? i am obsessed with his character, his story, what he did. thoroughly obsessed. at first i thought what anyone else would've: that he was a jackass who shouldn't be allowed to prosecute. but then, once they delve in all that happened... he spent seven years in prison as an innocent man because he wanted to protect a little girl. that is devastating. seeing him smile in the last case was the most heartwarming thing. I'm so glad he got the justice he was denied for so long. trigger warning, though: very little trucy on this... shameful. just kidding, she does show up time to time and you can tell this was the developers baiting all them trucy fans such as myself. her presence being limited makes the few times she appears ever more important
as for the actual cases and story... wow. just wow. seems to me like they learned from the mistakes made in aa4. backstories and events are foreshadowed in a way i did not expect from Anime Lawyers' Plot Twists: The Game, however the team excelled at this. athena's backstory was handled well so we'd suspect what was going on from the beginning without actually spoiling everything, as well as blackquill's. the final reveal, though it was shocking as any reveal of that nature should be, didn't feel pulled out of their asses: we knew fulbright, or rather whoever was posing as him, was the one to evacuate the space center. it was a matter of connecting the dots, and not just "oh haven't you heard? surprise!!!" as the apollo reveal was. tip of the hat to capcom. this was very well done.
another very important thing to note in this game that sets it apart from the others is that, for the first time ever in the series, trauma is addressed. people show emotional reactions to powerful events in their lives, who would've thought! no more phoenix just going on about his life after his mentor's death, no more apollo just getting over a betrayal like kristoph's. no: apollo gets emotionally scarred after clay's death. so does athena with what happened to her mother and what she thought she did. trauma is there, it's worked through and mentioned, and i think that's a big step forward since the detachment that i often felt in the trilogy. i really really appreciated this aspect of the story and liked how they handled it
final thoughts... the nostalgia, man. pearls comes back! so does edgeworth! they definitely knew what they were doing when they peppered in a casual appearance from our husband <3 getting to see little pearls and edgey again feels wonderful, like a balm for your soul after how much you feel like crumbling down during that last case. they went for the feels for this game, and they did that well.
10/10 would let this game break me again, now let's go to a different land for spirit of justice, rock and roll buckaroo

Mar'eyce Introduces:
Ro Donetta-Awaud: He/Him, 30-ish
Along with his family:
Dagon Donetta-Awaud: He/Him, 28-ish
Tann Donetta-Awaud: 11-ish
Kato Donetta-Awaud: 5-ish
Ellis Donetta-Awaud: 5-ish
A/N: I decided to go balls to the wall with the rest of these characters. So much backstory. All of it. I'm dumping it right here. Drabbles will added, moodboards whenever the fancy strikes. The rest of Arumorut has had their stories told at this point in the story so, fuck it, whatever. I love these OCs too much and I'm screaming it from rooftops, baby. I know suck at writing children and these Awaud children are definitely come across as way too old but go with me on this. I also left the children's pronouns empty because I'm not entirely sure what they're all trying to tell me yet. I'll update it when they let me know.
Warnings: This fic and AU is 18+ for a reason. Mentions of parental death, swearing, slavery and unwanted children mentions. Ro's a little sad boy under all that armor.
Read from the beginning: Mar'eyce Masterlist
Tumblr media
Ro Doneeta was born to Volya and Rol Doneeta, Twi'lek freedom fighters turned Rebels. When Ro had turned four, his parents went a on a routine trip for supplies and never came home. He was adopted shortly after by Kai and Ilyah, a quickly and quietly whispered pact made by the only two parents in their corner of The Rebellion after one too many close calls.
"Take care of them, for us. Please."
The Awauds openly encouraged Ro to participate in Twi'lek culture. Just because he was a Mandalorian now didn't mean he stopped being a Twi'lek as well. The entire clan learned Ryl and Kai and Ilyah found mentors for him to teach him the things they couldn't. They were never sure if they did right by their son, but they tried their best.
After the Awauds retired from the war and were sent back to Arumorut, when Ro and Kaiyah were sixteen, Ro threw himself into the deep end of medicine. It wasn’t humble in the way that Ba’buir was, he didn’t want to train the clan in first aid or help children with their sniffles. Ro had lost so much to the galaxy and this was his fuck you.
First, his ryma and kora, then his lek, now his buir. Kai’buir was physically there, but mentally, emotionally they were nowhere to be found. It was like he had died without dying. Ro decided he was going to fix it all, no one in his family was dying again. Nobody was getting left behind. For everything the galaxy took from Ro, he was going to drag back to this life with his bare hands.
After a few months of shadowing Ba'buir Nejaa, Ro was decided to pursue medical school on Naboo. It was a relatively peaceful planet, since tourism was most of the economy they were malleable to whoever was in charge. This meant that Ro couldn't just walk around anywhere. The Empire was still standing and he was a Mandalorian who may or may not be wanted.
Ba'buir Nejaa said no immediately. Their reasoning was the armor. Armor was important, every Mandalorian wore it all the time. The only reason Nejaa didn't anymore was because Kaiyah needed a new set and they had gifted their set to her. Ro didn't have this exception so he tried a compromise: he would wear the chest plate under his clothes. The plate was the biggest piece of armor he had and helped the most with regulating his temperature anyway. It wasn't comfortable but it was the best he could come up with.
About four years into his medical education, Ro met Dagon through some mutual friends. It was terror at first sight, the poor Zabrak man was missing nearly all of his right ear and Ro knew it was his fault. His stupid plan to fight an Aryx head-on had consequences he didn't full think of at the time.
Try as he might to avoid Dagon, it didn't matter. It was like the up and coming designer was everywhere, Dagon seemed to have his own gravity and Ro was quickly pulled in.
It didn't take long for them to fall in love, by the third official date Dagon was asking Ro to move in and by the fifth they were married. For his part, Dagon took everything Mandalorian related in stride. He barely blinked when Ro explained soulmates and the reasons they were both all scarred up on the first date. He just asked if 'his Mandalorian' had anyone to take care of him.
When Ro graduated school, not quiet a doctor but close enough, the couple had a long talk about the future. They both knew they wanted kids but The Empire was still looming. It wasn't safe for Mandalorians to be openly walking around and they were both faced with the thought it might never be. Dagon understood that his children would be raised Mandalorian. It was close to the way Zabraki culture was. Clans, fighting, it made sense for the most part. Even though he had parted he had parted ways with his family, Dagon knew Ro couldn't do that.
He had been officially introduced to most of the Awaud clan when Ro had graduated, Dagon threw a little get together in honor of his riduur and the only people on Ro's must invite list was his family. They had a bond that went closer than blood and Dagon knew his clan of two needed to do.
He moved the clan of two back to Arumorut, using the ship that Nejaa and Kaiyah brought to move the stuff that Dagon couldn't or wouldn't sell, Ro never seemed to hold on to much.
Ro was furious, initially. Dagon had plans, big plans, to be a designer and he was right at the cusp of finally getting his own line. Moving back to Arumorut would be a step back for his career or end it entirely. In Ro's mind, he could at least play security while Dagon chased his dreams and then they could settle down wherever. It didn't matter to Ro as long as he got to see his family regularly, somewhere Mid or Outer Rim, he didn't want to be too far in case of an emergency.
The move ended up being the best thing to happen to them, not a month after settling in Kaiyah brought home a little Twi'lek girl. She couldn't have been older than five, but with her malnutrition it was hard to guess and she didn't know. She didn't even have a name and barely spoke Huttese.
They named her Tann, for hope.
A year later, while debating on putting their names with an adoption agency now that The New Republic existed and Ro could get his record expunged since his Rebel activities were no longer deemed as 'treason' or 'terrorism', the twins fell in their laps. A woman had shoved the babies on Jax, who was working on a bounty at the time, she said she couldn't take care of them and knew that the Mandalorians could. Jax didn't have a soulmate at the time and knew that the Donetta-Awauds were thinking about adopting again, so he asked if they would like to add the Zabraki twins to their family. The boys couldn't have been more than a few months old, their skin was more pink than the vibrant red it now was.
Kato, for Dagon's father. Even if they didn't talk he still liked the name.
Ellis, for Ro's buir. It was her clan name before she joined Kai.
Ro knew he made the right choice when Kai-buir cried. It sounded terrible at the time, like he enjoyed making his father cry, but it was such a relief to find out that he could. That Kai wasn't entirely gone, just not always there.
Ro still asks Dagon if he regretted it. Losing his fashion line, being a boring tailor to people who didn't really need a tailor. On those days Dagon holds Ro closer, his chin resting on his Mandalorian's head, "Never. Not once. I've never been happier than when I'm with you. 'Boring tailor' and all. Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum, cyare."
Tumblr media
^ Ro in his full armor. Isn't he a handsome boy?
Translations & Other Headcanons:
Ryma: Ryl, mother
Kora: Ryl, father
Buir: Mando'a, parent
Kai-buir: Mando'a, masc parents typically go by the first three letters of their name followed by 'buir'. The Donetta-Awaud children don't really follow this rule since they have one Buir and one Edalinare (Zabraki, family).
Ba'buir: Mando'a, grandparent
I headcannon Ro as a doctor who did all the bookwork, but never the internships which I believe is eight-ish years of school? Correct me if I'm wrong I just wanted to keep the timeline in some kind of order for myself (leaving Arumorut at sixteen + eight years of school leaves Ro somewhere near 24 when they have Tann, 25 for the twins). I also know that half the stuff Ro does in Arumorut a unlicensed doctor could never do in real life, but in his mind it got him close enough to what he wanted to do, hence the joke about 'not a doctor but close enough'. He was pretty over med school, honestly. Besides, he learned the good stuff from Nejaa (who is nowhere near doctor status, think closer to field medic/EMT who has Seen Some Shit).
Riduur: Mando'a, spouse
Tann: Ryl, hope
Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum, cyare: Mando'a, I know you forever, beloved.
In my brain, Dagon is like 6'4", 6'5"-ish and Ro is a short king comparatively coming in at a hot 5'8", 5'9" (he swears up and down he's a solid 5'10". He's not.) Ro is almost always little spoon and doesn't mind it one bit.
I feel like I need to add a disclaimer: did I accidentally create Numa and her uncle with Tann and Ro? Yes, yes I did. Do I really care at this point? No, because it makes moodboards easy. Numa and her family belong to Disney and Lucasfilms, I did not create them and I don't want anyone to think I did. That arc plus the fact she shows up in Rebels makes me cry.

《 Here's Mallory's relationship list! Up next is Thorn's. I included my other OCs here too, along with RSA! (You can clearly see which ones I've thought of more) This is a long one, so buckle up. 》
Mallory Robinett's Relationships
Tumblr media
Heartslabyul
Riddle Rosehearts: Mallory has a strange fascination with Riddle. She was a Disney gal when on Earth, Alice in Wonderland being her favorite movie they made. She kinda hated the Queen of Hearts since she was all high and mighty, but when she saw Riddle...all she thought was "omg smol tsun tsun". After his overblot, she held him close and allowed him to hide his tears. Riddle finds her obsession fascination with him a bit odd, but he's seen weirder in his own dorm, so he just lets her do her thing and is her friend nonetheless.
Trey Clover: "Big brother Trey". That's pretty much it. One time, Mallory told Trey about chocolate-hazelnut wafers and how she loved them back on Earth, so he made them for her after. She was delighted and it's become tradition for them since. He's basically her big bro. It's pretty wholesome.
Cater Diamond: Mallory finds Cater a bit annoying, she won't lie. She just finds the whole "influencer" thing a bit odd. Other than that, she doesn't entirely mind Cater. They don't talk all too often however, so they don't know each other too well. Mallory hopes to have that change before they graduate or before she goes home.
Ace Trappola: If these two are seen together, you may wanna run. Mallory and Ace are pretty much inseparable after finally getting along during Heartslabyul's episode. Mallory will admit, she finds Ace attractive, and she's said it to him before on a couple occasions. She may feel more than just that, but she doesn't like love and stuff like that, so she tries to ignore her rapidly beating heart whenever she's with Ace...
Deuce Spade: Deuce is one of the few people who sees Mallory's sweet side. She always makes sure he stays in line and if he starts to go all delinquent-mode, she pulls a "pull it together major". Of course, that's only if he starts to go overboard. Mallory knows what it's like to feel like a disappointment to a parent, so she reassures Deuce that it'll get better if he's truly wanting to be better.
Thorn Valley: Oh, these two despise each other. The only thing they can agree on is that they dislike Leona and that's pretty much it. Some people at NRC like to say they're like an old married couple(mainly Cater) and they always have to clarify that they hate each other. They can tolerate each other during events like Fairy Gala and such, but even then, they'll still bicker.
Savanaclaw
Leona Kingscholar: Another person Mallory hates! She finds Leona's laziness a menace, while he gets a kick out of annoying her. Their relationship is similar to how Vil and Leona act to put it bluntly. They do have similar humor though, so it's strange whenever someone else sees them laughing together.
Ruggie Bucchi: One time Ruggie stole her sandwich and she makes sure he'll never live it down. Knowing he had a rough time back in the Afterglow Savana however, she tones it down by a lot. She knows he's a gremlin, but she also knows that he's a human like anyone else and tries to treat him with some kind of kindness and respect. They don't talk all too often, but they've talked enough to be considered a bit more than acquaintances.
Jack Howl: He gives her piggyback rides more often than you would think, but it's always cause she asks if he can. He can't say no to her face, he doesn't know why, so he goes along with it. He finds her more as his sister than anything, Mallory finding the feeling mutual. She loves to hang out with him and Epel, but the one time that Jack offered her to come with him and Vil to jog, she backed up ten feet and said no.
Octavinelle
Azul Ashengrotto: Mallory was infuriated when Azul took Ramshackle away from her and Grim for those couple days. She was doing that thing where she was telling Adeuce and Jack to "hold her (nonexistent) earrings" or to "hold her back". After finding out his backstory however, she softened, even if only by a bit. Her relationship with him got better after Scarabia's incident.
Jade Leech: Mallory doesn't like Jade, but she doesn't hate him either. He's probably the most tolerable person in Octavinelle to her. She was also close to slapping Jade once. She doesn't interact with him too often, so she can only go off of how he was during Octavinelle and Scarabia's episode.
Floyd Leech: Floyd is the vain of Mallory's existence. During the Octavinelle episode, she almost slapped him into oblivion. She honestly can't tell who she hates more, Thorn, Leona, or Floyd. He's constantly trying to "squeeze" her like he does with everyone else and she can't stand it. She doesn't like to talk to him and tries to avoid him when she can.
Marius Seymour: Mallory doesn't entirely mind Marius. She kinda finds his sadistic-ish personality a bit annoying, but she's learned that it's a reoccuring thing in Octavinelle. Marius' sadism isn't as bad as the other three. She lowkey ships him with Ashe and isn't shy about it. She finds him kinda fun to be around and likes to eat with him at lunch from time to time.
Scarabia
Kalim Al-Asim: The first time she talked to him, she knew that he was so precious and was wondering if he belonged at RSA. He's also one of the few people to see Mallory's sweet side. She can't bring herself to be sarcastic with him, so she acts almost entirely different with him. It basically goes as such...
----
Mallory: *being all sweet it Kalim*
Everyone else: Wow...
Mallory: What?
Everyone else: You're just so nice to him...
Mallory: Oh, I'm sorry, do you want me to yell?!
Everyone else: No-!
----
Jamil Viper: Mallory's...indifferent to Jamil. She almost slapped him after his overblot, yes, but she doesn't entirely hate him. She knows he was in Kalim's shadow for so long, so she doesn't have too much against him. She still isn't happy with how he treated and hypnotized Kalim, but she tries to let it go as much as her heart and brain will let her. She doesn't talk to him much after his overblot, but if she needs to talk to him, she won't throw a tantrum.
Pomefiore
Vil Schoenheit: At first, Mallory thought that she'd hate Pomefiore, especially Vil. But...she saw and heard how much effort it took for Vil to get to where he is now, so she has a lot of respect for him. For Ghost Marriage, he chose an outfit for her so that she fit the theme of the event and she actually liked his outfit choices. It was a dress, which she tends to hate, but she genuinely enjoyed wearing it. She may not talk to him a whole lot, but she respects him greatly. After his overblot, that respect and empathy went up even more.
Rook Hunt: Mallory, like many others at NRC, finds Rook weird and creepy. She already found the fact that he has photos on his walls creepy, but then he lists off her, ADeuce and Grim's height, class, and seat number. She tries to avoid him at all costs, similar to Floyd. She hates how he randomly pops up behind her and the others too.
Epel Felmier: Mallory loves Epel! She likes to hang out with him, Jack, and Deuce. She's trying to learn how to carve apples, though she's gained many cuts on her fingers because of it, the cuts always bandaged up by Epel. Since she's taller than him, she likes to use him as an arm-rest from time to time, much to Epel's demise. All in all, she adores him and wishes the best for him.
Ashe Aspen: Mallory finds Ashe fun, but they don't talk as often as she'd like. He's really tall, so she likes when he gives her piggyback rides too. She's witnessed his truly scary side, and she's sworn to never make him mad since. Similar to Ruggie, they may not talk much, but they've talked enough to be considered a bit more than acquaintances.
Ignihyde
Idia Shroud: Best of friends. Specifically BGFFs, "Best Gamer Friends Forever". Idia introduced Mallory to a bunch of games in Twisted Wonderland and she couldn't put them down. They talk whenever they can and everyone is shocked when Mallory says she's Idia's friend. She likes his hair a lot too.
Ortho Shroud: Mallory finds Ortho like the younger sibling she never had but always wanted. She always makes sure he's ok, telling him that he can come to her if he ever needs to talk. She also thought that he did amazing during the VCD Auditions.
Diasomnia
Malleus Draconia: She knows for a fact that if she was still her same seven year old self, she'd want him to give her a piggyback ride so she could hold his horns. Mallory finds his innocent outlook on some things adorable, but more in a sense of "wow he's pure" rather than romantically. For the most part though, their relationship is the same as it's portrayed in the game.
Lilia Vanrouge: They have a relationship like Mallory does with Riddle, just flip it around. Lilia seems to be fascinated by her, seeing as she's a human from another world while he's a fae who's lived for hundreds of years. She may be taller than him, but he always floats above the ground so he's at least her height. She finds him fun to hang with, so she's fine with his strange fascination.
Sebek Zigvolt: She finds him too loud, but she appreciates his devotion to Malleus. Sometimes it concerns her, but other than that, she respects it. They don't talk often, but she kinda wants that to change soon. Other than that, he's the member she's the least close to.
Silver: They're cuddling buddies and don't even know it. Mallory spends a lot of time in Diasomnia, so naturally she is close with the dorm's members. She likes to crash in Silver's room at times, so that's how they became secret cuddle buddies.
Other
Dire Crowley: Mallory finds it kinda fun to toy with Crowley, but found it incredibly annoying when he left to go on vacation during Scarabia's episode. Although it's something she'd never admit, Mallory sees Crowley as that fun and strange father she never got to have.
Divius Crewel: She hates him with a lot of her being. She hates how he treats them all like dogs. However, when there are those few times he's nice to her and makes sure she doesn't make an explosion in Alchemy, she's thankful.
Mozus Trein: She finds his class pretty boring, but she loves playing with his cat. She does appreciate when Trein gives her extra help if she doesn't understand something revolving around Twisted Wonderland's history.
Ashton Vargas: Mallory is a bit indifferent to Vargas. While he can be nice to her, she finds him a bit odd. She does however appreciate how Vargas makes sure she takes care of her physical and mental health.
Libi Koko: Libi and Mallory are pretty much the best of friends. Since Libi is one of the few females in NRC with Mallory, it feels nice that she can talk to someone who understands some issues they may have that the guys don't. They have a lot of inside jokes and, again, Libi is one of the few poeple who have seen Mallory's sweet side.
Che'nya: Prank duo, right here. If they're together, it's like an Ace and Mallory situation, but worse. Since they go to different schools, they can't talk often, but they managed to exchange numbers who knows when just a bit after the Heartslabyul incident. Sometimes, Che'nya likes to give Mallory hugs, but he's always invisible and know one except Mallory can tell he's there. He likes to tease Mallory a bit, much to her slight demise, so she's started to do the same. It's an endless cycle now.
Neige LeBlanche: Mallory already adored Neige the first time she met him. Her first thought was "he's baby. I must protect". They may not talk often, due to being in different schools, but they exchanged numbers to ensure that they still had the ability to talk. Neige is in a situation similar to Kalim in terms of how sweet Mallory is.
