tried really hard to capture some of his whimsy

#james potter#james was probably a little more urban liberal about it tbf#mans too privileged w too many minority friends not to be#but that aside#his black and white thinking also meant he prolly had an overdeveloped sense of justice#and felt like he needed to uphold it (or ensure others did) at all times#this is the same man who could not even utter the word mudblood in relation to someone else saying it#he was prolly self righteous as hell#but at its core. his heart. soul. he truly wanted to help#and that mattered#because he could reform and refine his actions#but he had the intentions right from the start#james was a protector first and foremost#and honestly i’ll tie this into a lot of potter family lore as well#but not now. those are thoughts for another time.#i also think everytime james came in contact with a tortured soul (which was v often considering remus and sirius at the very least)#it just reinforced his attitude#because he needed to keep saving them. protecting them. if he could only shield then he’d be the best shield there ever was#and that right there would also tie neatly into his need to be the best#to be as competent as he could#because he needs all of those skills to take care of his friends#anything they need him to be he would mould himself into it#this increased the more cognisant he became of his privileged btw#(am i slightly projecting on james? sure but we’re not talking ab that)#i just feel very strongly about him ok?#my previous babyyyyy#pen’s notes

well, i thought i had finished a starburster update but upon rereading it this morning i'm not fully happy with it.. feels a little rushed.. so i think i need to add a little bit more to it even though it's already nearing 5k 🤔 will likely have to leave off on a cliffhanger too LOL
#i'll be honest i wasn't fully present while writing it so it feels a bit disjointed 😭#i'll refrain from details but my family had another loss a couple days ago and it's hitting harder than i expected#i think it's more of a thing where loss resurfaces feelings about previous losses.. so tl;dr i'm just not very focused right now#i appreciate y'all being so patient with me all the time and that especially goes for people who i talk to via dms and stuff#my flighty nature is not intentional i just have a lot going on all the time and it's hard to juggle everything#but i love you guys i love this blog dearly it's my safe space it's my happy place. thanks for sticking with me#ANYWAYS. i will hopefully be able to update starburster soon! it's basically done it just needs a little refining

thinking about female Marc Marquez/Mar, the first woman to complete a full season in the premier class and instantly convert it into a championship, how she's the only woman on the grid but people can't even say anything to really diminish her because how can you try to explain away 8 championships and her absolute domination and success even when the bike was trying to kill her?
Thinking about how she's even more intense and insane than Marc is in real life somehow, how she's so lovely but off putting, so contradicting in how she's so animal and strong but still sweet and feminine and uncompromising in how she's a woman and she likes that. She likes being feminine and having long hair, likes dressing up in heels and gold jewellery just as much as she loves dressing up in her leathers and clothes that swallow her whole and being bloodied and sweaty. She always thought she looked at her best a little roughed up.
Thinking about how others see her. How the riders are cautious and a little disarmed causes she's all giggles and big dimpled smiles but that disappears as soon as she touches the bike and next thing they know she's past them, aggressive and hunting and always there. How having a crush on her is almost like a little right of passage for rookies. How she's still handled and touched and pushed around but there's a bit more reverence and want it. Honda and Greseni adore her. Golden Girl, goddess, they give her everything and she gives even more back. Parts of herself. Blood, sweat and tears and doubly devoted as she knows that they took a chance on her when joining Motogp as a woman and how much they did for her. How the media and the public are even more split over her, no matter what she does. How the love is fanatical, the devotion is almost religious, but the hatred so much more intense and vile and even more blatant than it is now.
How the Sepang 2015 fallout is so much worse.

honestly i think my only beef w mouthwashing and why it didnt hit for me is i was bored by the fixation on jimmy and curly. its a game abt anyas assault but shes barely in the game at all. her trauma is a prop to explore these male chracters complex relationship which i get yes is to illustrate how people enable harm doers and abusers but like. i dont rlly care that curly enabled jimmy bc he liked him and they were BFFsFL u kno like. their story was boring. anya didnt feel like a person and ahe didnt feel nearly as fleshed out as the others. i kept forgetting her name and calling her shelly duvall but a lot of her story happens off screen. which isnt to say i wanted her assault on screen its more to say why isnt she anything outside of her trauma? shes not nearly as humanized or fleshed out as the others and we r fixated on the abuser and whats going thru his mind and how the other men enabled him to go as far as he did. i think that we couldve even had a meaningful narrative about that while still treating anya like a human and still letting her be more of a character and less of a prop to talk abt sexual assault. am i making sense???

Himman and Summiya#the latter of whom just happens to be Zaheer’s older sister#but he ran away from home years before these two were born so he most likely isn’t even aware of their existence#I mean. I’m sure he suspects his sisters had children. but that’s the extent of what he knows#anyway#quite a few headcanons came to mind as I was drawing so I’m gonna type them out while I can still function#(haven’t slept for two nights in a row. I’m starting to doubt whether I’m actually alive or not)#Liba is older by about a year but once they grow up a little it’s barely noticeable and people assume they’re twins#over time they stop bothering to correct them because really. they’re so close they might as well be#they were both burn with port wine stain birthmarks on their faces. much to their mother’s dismay#she has a whole perfectionism complex and needed her children to reflect that to maintain the family image#thus they were taught how to hide the marks early on. but the powder makes them constantly sneeze#liba is very self conscious about it bc of what her mother put in her head. Abyan less so bc while he’s expected to be perfect#his future doesn’t depend on his looks. he always tries to comfort his sister whenever she spirals too deep. no matter that she’s older#when no one is around to hear he calls her Lili <3 it annoyed her at first so she dubbed him Yanyan in retaliation#but over time they both grew to love the nicknames and now use them unironically#they’re the ultimate partners in crime. their goal? gaining as much freedom from their mother as possible#and sooner or later they will manage to do so permanently. which will make Summiya fall apart. but that is currently Kat’s domain#speaking of. hi Kat. I know you’ve already seen this in pencil but look! I coloured them!!#the birthmarks were both kinda annoying and rather fun to do. maybe I’ll change them later. I was too tired to look at refs so I improvised#and there’s no detail in clothing since again. 0 energy whatsoever. but once I refine their full body designs I shall go all out#that reminds me I need to go collect my new sketchbook. might do it on the way home from the store#okay I’m getting distracted. is this my very unsubtle way of trying to influence Kat to write that Summiya fic?#maybe. maybe not. you can’t prove anything 😁

I was originally gonna joke abt how me straightening out cogs's feet from my wonky pencil sketch resulted in screwing up my attempt at keeping their heights like.. proportional on the ref sheet to how I want them & stuff (unlike Amalure & Lefou's ref) but then I noticed.
This probably looks?? insane??? maybe is?? At least might be/look so with the info that: These are ALL sketches. just sketches. Only a couple details & refinements away from being ready for the lineart. and as you can tell, they've all been done.. just completely differently?? for like no reason???
#Cogsworth is how I usually sketch mostly#I don't consider me loading in a pencil sketch I did as a base my usual#but that's really the only/main difference#Lumiere & Babs both started off as usual for me#but babs just got?? fully filled in & refined like that??#while Lumiere got that for the base body and then I just continued as usual#ough I need to fix how lumiere's hair is drawn in this#cuz it IS tied in a little ponytail at the end that has a lil bit of a cartoon flame shape#but u cant see with the (admittedly awkward??) pose#i was trying to do something more dynamic but I didn't push it right and i honestly barely remember what i was going for lmao#anyways. i did start chapter 5's rough draft....and if i finish this one i will have Officially hit the mark i made for myself 4 years ago to start drafting the comic panels....holy shit....4 years later after its rewrite haha

been reworking my tarot-inspired divination cards lately and i think i'll start drawing and posting about them soon once i figure out an illustration style i like...
#ive done a couple readings for myself and in-world readings for characters and they actually work really well#just need to refine them a little bit#in my first draft i think i lost a bit of sight on the whole concept that each set of 4 is a cycle and just started throwing in random stuf#but now im doing it better and keeping the bigger picture in mind and ah its just so cool. im rlly proud of this project#ramblings
