Something that we as the helluva boss fandom do not talk about enough is that the Ozzie’s episode is practically Blitzø trying to enjoy a night of stalking and former Ex’s/crushes keep popping up.

I was thinking about the brothers again and one thing that I thought about specifically was how often Todomastu lies about his plans and accomplishments while Karamatsu is open about his failures and lack of direction.

Like yeah, all the brothers tend to lie about themselves or their accomplishments to other people to seem better (except for Osomatsu but he has no shame so he don’t count) but specifically Todomatsu is the only one we’ve seen that actively lies to other people to gain their favor, while also not admitting that he has no idea what he’s doing in life. Meanwhile, Karamatsu is the one who lies about his image, but we don’t see him hesitate to admit that he doesn’t have a job or plans for the future.

Karamatsu is undeniably a try-hard, but he goes out of his way to share his hobbies and accomplishments with his family, as opposed to Todomatsu who had done several things worth celebrating, yet has mentioned none of them.

It’s also interesting the scope in which they lie. Karamatsu lies about doing adventurous things like getting a ton of girls and being a super cool hero, while Todomatsu lies about every day stuff like going to college and not having brothers. Karamatsu’s fallacies are easy to spot and easy to come undone but he doesn’t seem to flinch when others call him out on it. Meanwhile, Todomatsu’s lies are carefully crafted to make him fit in, and he tends to have major freak outs when that lie seems to come undone.

The parallels between both brothers is just interesting to me. Karamatsu is honest with strangers while playing himself up to his family (as if the only opinion that matters is his family’s) while Todomatsu barely mentions things to his family while lying to strangers. (Maybe he knows he can be himself around family?)

Straightman’s attitude about “Wait And See if you’re being gay baited” is so unbelievably and hilariously…well, straight.

Gaybaiting isn’t just “waaah we don’t get to see them kiss”. Gaybaiting is a specific tactic where a minority group’s craving for representation is exploited. That’s not something you should expect us to just be content with “waiting and seeing” about. Expecting us to be content with that shows that you do not have any understanding of how hurtful this trend is.

Every time I watch Nimona I see something new, good or bad or confusing, and this time I noticed, when they were escaping from jail, there’s the “something something something we win” but (which is rightfully hilarious) but then the cut to Bal’s line, and, where did they come from? The get shot at as the turn the corner and you can see the door Ambrosius comes through in the background, but when they come back and run into Ambrosius, you see the direction they came from and it’s a wall with the infamous supply closet? Like I’m genuinely not trying to critique I think it’s hilarious that the movie is so good that I didn’t pick up on what seems like a pretty significant continuity error because I was too distracted by sad conflicted gay knights. I’ve been rewinding and watching this sequence and I’m convinced they don’t have a solid layout for the institute building.

Also Nimona threw that axe at a guard and the fell over the balcony. Then, without ascending or descending they return to the balcony area to show several stories below so I’m pretty sure that guy’s pretty dead. Something I also find hilarious.
