Also sense all of my main stories are connected to each other in some way I'll be putting a ⭐ next to a sentence that's connected to Backyard Thursday (I consider BT the plaza of my stories)

I'm only sharing a few because stories like Rose Burnt do not have any comcis made(Rose Burn was written but I'm moving it to a comic format as writing it in a book style isn't fun for me), Shadow Killed had a few but I lost all files for that and need to go searching for W.I.Ps, I have some panels from the Webtoon drafts I made a few years back so I can go get them for SK

As for the rest I'll show what I can! (TOAK.... Has too many re-do's so i'll only share a few U_U)

Collideists

Yeah... Collideists only had 1 panel drawn of it and never again, and this isn't even the comic style I'm doing anymore

But anywho's, in short:

Collideists takes place in a world where humans go extinct after a bright light lands on Tellus(In universe Earth for context)⭐ causing changes to happen. Two immortal races start to appear called Shadow (Not my species) and Light Creatures(My species). Some were too hostile and others not so much, they eventually re-built the half broken Tellus and travers through wherever they take their half broken planet. Years later Aont is a 17-18 year old high school student currently on summer break (he didn't graduate yet) lives in the most protected country of Tellus and has a secret that if revealed could spark a huge revelation. Despite his secret however he's very reckless and get's caught and news spreads about a "human" being alive gaining the attention of many hostile creatures known as CMJ's.

I haven't really completed writing out all of collideists/it's still in development, but I do have an ending planned, basically Fatum fixes the mess her parents caused (I think you can guess who they are) among the creatures and helps planet travel run smoother in stuff, humans are Moreso still extinct but there are still fake humans running amongst the planet safely (humans are still extinct, the only "actual" human would be Fatum but she's half human (heh.... :3))

All of this is to be changed sense I think I wanna add more sci-fy ish stuff and have it so that thousands of years passed causing 4 planets to be colonized, Tellus and 3 others, maybe only 3 planets or just 2. As creatures in this world do not die of old age (they have the mental stability to live forever as they're just figments of light/color/technically walking corpses(tiny spoilers but not really U_U))

Backyard Thursday

Never So Norm

This was at the time where I wasn't used to drawing backgrounds or dynamic-ish poses (I'm still not but they're much more easier for me to draw now!)

this isn't *all* of the panels btw, just a few that I really like, also Never So Norm is one of the few old comic arts I did where I fully sketched out of the chapter instead of "sketch, draw, sketch draw"

I really prefer the sketch all and then draw all format because it's much more easier to follow through U_U

Despite this world canonically being connected to my other story Rose Burnt that has a lot fantasy elements in it, this story does not. It's slice of life, drama, and school life genre story and it might be one of the most controversial stories I've created. I've implemented a lot of personal elements into my life on this story so it's very personal to me and I'm the most shy when talking about this to strangers U_U

Never So Norm's story (without huge spoilers):

Samy is a 17-18 year old (I'm debating on which/when the story should take place before or after he's 18) high school senior. His friends meet the new girl Cheryl and get into some drama with someone they all hate after Ivan and Ty catches Darrel cheating on Sarah with her best friend Jane. Meanwhile Cheryl meets a new friend and the two get super close, although this closeness slowly determinates after Cheryl discovers something about Alex that not only concerns her but get's her into major drama with someone which ties both Cheryl and Samy's drama together.

Also despite this story focusing on the main cast it will also focus on the parents part of the story which IMO is way darker and shows more on Rose Burnt's fantasy side. (spoilers ahead) I.E an unknown eye virus⭐ and other stuff (some of the main cast will get dragged into their parents drama which causes them to mature more(*coughs* Sarah *coughs*))

(And I'm still figure out NSN cuz it's a whole shit show but I also wanted it to have a little twist to it and not be like other high school drama's ) (Also Backyard Thursday's act 1 takes place in NSN's Earth but this is when the main characters are in their 30's making Ajax and Nath the same as the main cast (When the autism kicks in)) (((And what connects Never So Norm to Rose Burnt is that canoncially a few of the main characters are cousins of the other main characters(Samy and Erg being cousins for example and Samy being a fanboy of a pop singer AKA one of MC's of RB's mom))))

Shadow Killed (I lost the files to the actual full W.I.Ps so take the webtoon draft version I have of it(I never posted it cuz I'm gonna re-do it all once I get to SK in my preferred format))

I wish I saved it better because Shadow Killed is one of my favorite stories I've created, not only because it's my first original story, but also because I loved it so much it survived my story purge back in middle school.

I'm trying not to go ahead and start drawing it right now because I want to get better at art for Shadow Killed, it's one of my biggest motivators to get better at drawing because not only do I want to handle SK with care, but also the art.

As much as I also love Two Over A Kind it's a huge mess right now and I'm trying to clean up the world building because I went a bit overboard on the world building and I'm cleaning it up right now, but I still love it do death!

Trust guys I don't have a favorite story (I do and it's SK)

Story Baisis:

4 roommates Ian, Damien, Hannah, and Victoria live their causal daily life, do their job for bills, participate in guild activities, report any suspicious behavior to the royal guards, and live quietly in the small village of Loyalette. However things go wrong during a mission, Saul Shiskui takes away Victoria's ability after a run in with a wanted criminal Jay. Despite Victoria not being worried as she has a second ability that cannot be taken away, Hannah's vengefulness and anger strives her to find a cure in a cursed village rumored to bring back abilities. While doing so, they catch the attention of the whole world.

That last part is actually a spoiler to the ending of Act 1 of Shadow Killed, to give background/context, everyone has an ability, and if they don't they're called inabilities. there are special people however that have a second ability, these peoples are within a group called the 4 7's or the four seven's, four groups with seven people having a very special second ability. the 7DS, 7HV, 7OH, and 7OM (it's too long to type out the full thing so I always shorten it) the 7DS are seen as evil and must be removed (which is untrue), the 7HV are seen as good luck and must be protected, but somehow all of them keep dying and a new 7OH appears (mainly because of assassin's trying to harbor their ability/take it for themselves, and each death is huge but a kidnapping is not normal(teehee... spoilerssss))

I'm guessing you know what happens at the end of Act 1 as I kidna gave it away with some hints, but if not then I think i'd fun to try and figure it out!

Also this may be one of the few stories that isn't connected to BT, i'm trying to connect it to BT somehow in someway because I love all of my stories connecting! (Maybe SK would just be a universe created the procreator and left to not be added into BT bc it's too powerful or something(more BT universe world buidling AUGAUHAGHU :3))

I'm trying not to go off on SK because of how much I love it, but I have a lot planned for it and a lot of love for this story <3

Two Over A Kind (each image is from a different re-make, it's not from the same remake U_U) (Also yes I did in fact base my username off of this OC, although I'm gonna re-design her and re-name her because I don't want people thinking she's a persona when she isn't U_U)

I'm not sure if you can see the art style change but there has been (+ Gaia has been added to the part 1 introduction!)

Also midway through the CONSTANT re-making they went from 12 year olds to 17-18 year olds

In fact a lot has changed about TOAK, from story name, to world building, to genre.... heck even the main VILLAINS changed a lot, I'd have to make a whole post about how much TOAK has changed. But alas I am not U_U

Story Basis:

Inkyu(Name to be changed but I'm using Inkyu for now) and her friends Luu and Gaia meet the new kid in town Kane. They introduce him around town when weird things start to happen. Eventually they're attacked by a crazy homeless looking lady who sends them into a world called the "Mirror Realm". They eventually escape it and they learn about the world outside of their country having magic and different species besides their own. But now their mirrored clones are out to kill them causing Inkyu and many other of her friends to flee to Kane's old town, so that one of Kane's old buddies can help.

Also the mirror realm stuff is a huge clickbait IMO, they're not actually mirrored versions of the others. They're actually just another species within the TOAK universe (before they weren't but the more I thought about it the more it made no sense to even have it in there) But I think I should save my species ramble bambles or else I'll start going off from the main topic.... like I did with the SK one :Skull: :sob:

(Although I will be happy to answer any OC related species or world building because I really love to ramble about them when given the chance... even if it means spoilering the story on accident qWp)

Rose Burnt

Rose Burnt is actually a written story I made on wattpad a few years ago my late freshmen/early sophomore year, I was super into Homestuck (I still am but not as obsessed as I was before) and wanted to try and make a horror-genrefied version of it(RB is no longer horror). Needless to say I gave up on it after like 4 chapters and didn't go back to it until I logged back into my wattpad about and went "Oh shit I forgot I wrote this............." and then I started to hyperfixate on Rose Burnt and things went on from there U_U

here are some sentences/writings from RB that I really like because I still have that TwT (I wrote up to 12-13 chapters before I officially decided that "this would be better as a comic instead")

The premise of the story is the same but some stuff has changed. U_U

I think you can tell (if you're into homestuck) that rose burnt is literally just Homestuck, although it's my version of a sburb game as although Rose Burnt has a lot of elements to homestuck, I think it's different because the goal of their own game is to not get a re-ward but to just get creative/make your on goals

Also those screenshots is beta rose burnt, back when the game aspect wasn't a thing and those ghouls(before they were called monsters but I changed it to ghouls as I solidified their species more and they take on a more spooky-ghost like culture)came to August's and the others world for a different reason, that reason has changed now as I solidified Ghoul culture/their backstoris (a bit)

(Also tiny funfact anything similar to tiktok does not exist in any of my stories because of my huge distaste for tiktok(and also because I need to give the Rose Burnt cast a reason to be outside and not doom scroll all the time as honestly that's very sad...))

5 kids enter summer break ending their 8th grade year, August's birthday just so happens to be coming up. But after a few hours into summer break strange things begin to happen after all of her friends enter a grave yard's house and strange people start to message them about how to handle this situation. August after receiving an early birthday gift from a strange user called "majestic_marryier" uses this gift to help save her friends and stop whoever's hurting them. However, something else stalks August which leads her and her friends into something even more dangerous.

I'm gonna be so fr with you when making the newer beginning to Rose Burnt I wanted to do it in a way that was interesting. Personally I find the starting to Homestuck boring (I think a lot of people do to) and sense Rose Burnt is basically my Homestuck I wanted to write it in a way that I liked, don't get me wrong I freaking LOVE Homestuck, and parts of it's beginnigns, but Rose Burnt isn't really Homestuck in it's own weird way. I don't care if people call it a HS clone or whatever, I just want to write it in a way that makes me happy!

(And I might tag it as "sburb" on MSPFA sense well- the game their playing is SORT OF like sburb but not really-, I'll see when I get to Rose Burnt's story U_U)

Mandela's Requiem

I don't really need to show any art from MR as it's already public so all I'm gonna do is talk about the story basis XP (I also might change up the beginning of MR a bit as the story itself writing wise was based off of old creepypasta storis of "oh haha MC get's bullied and stuff happens", I will def keep the bullying aspect the same but have it so that Isabela is less-sad about it as I kinda wanna distant MR from creepypasta writings and base it off of my own U_U) (I wanna make it so that Isabela is moreso numb to the bullying)

Isabela Sola get's bullied often at her school for being the "weird kid", her vocal stims put people off and the way she talks about things she likes makes her seem weird. Chester Sawyer doesn't find Isabela's habits weird and tries to befriend her but his two jackass friends Henry and Rob prevent him doing so leading into a fight causing Rob and Chester to get detention. Eventually when school ends Isabela get's into a fight with the schools queen Jacklynn. (context: MR is also connected planet wise to NSN and RB, not gonna explain now but when I say queen I mean she literally is the school queen(IRL earth and this earth are not the same)) All of this negativity and mistreatment of others leads something⭐ deciding to stand up and take out other bullies as well as give the victim and supporter a new "forever home" that doesn't last long.

And I think that's all for my yap session U_U, I hope that at least one of these stories interests you as all of them interest me ^W^. I'm still working on my writing skills and I'm getting better by the day.

i do enjoy reading fics where he's like "i dont deserve good things, this guy is way out of my league" and i do totally get where people are coming from when they characterize him that way but more and more lately im just like

like i dont think that airplane has a SUPER high opinion of himself, but i think he's just kinda... confident? like when he reads fucking essays online about how his writing sucks he's able to laugh his ass off over it and even join in the fray. so i keep thinking rather than him being like "i dont deserve this nice thing", he'd more have a "SCORE! nice thing for me!! someone comes to qinghua's door to throw their weight around? sure, qinghua acts all small and harmless with them there but when they leave, he's cackling about "annndd that pathetic loser thinks that no one knows abt his porn stache, pssshhh, get on my level pleb. especially with your frankly boring as fuck tastes" and qinghua has a dirty sense of humor too and it's sort of driving mobei jun insane

so maybe sometimes he shows up at the peak without announcing his presence, trying to peak what sort of shit that shang qinghua might say about him behind his back and mmaaaayyybbe mobei jun is a bit excited at the prospect and disappointed when it's difficult to hear his name on shang qinghua's tongue

until one glorious day when his timing is just right and shang qinghua is neck deep in the middle of northern desert paperwork and he lets loose and mobei jun isnt sure whats worse: the things that shang qinghua's biting insults are doing to him or how, in stark comparison to the way that shang qinghua insults to others, all of shang qinghua's insults are accompanied by dirty commentary about mobei jun's body and potential sexual prowess in a quite positive light. normally shang qinghua is all "lmfao mr. never-gonna-get-fucked qi-ge is gonna tell me what to do? tough shit my lil bitch, i might be your daddy but i know the full depth of malicious compliance! go back to your brat-kink with jiu-whatever. you might as well be dickless for all the success you've had, mr. virgin mcbitch" but with mobei jun it's a lot more like "oh so mr. sexier than the fucking literal god of this world could have imagined in his dirtiest dreams wants this paperwork by next week? unreasonable brat, so spoiled, i should spoil him, he'd look reeeeaallly hot when spoiled absolutely rotten beneath me hehehh wait above me? hm, anyway, he's being a little bitch but i'll forgive it for that face but also man i wanna just pinch those fucking cheeks sometimes and then--man i bet he'd be really fucking wild in the sack to and--"

(shang qinghua does not, in fact, have any actual bad blood against his zhangmen-shixiong, he just has a bad habit of going for the throat when he's in the middle of a tirade bc he was once an internet troll who shamelessly thrived on the anonymity of being able to say anything to anyone. he just really likes to talk shit and if he was in a position of power, would absolutely abuse it to talk shit alllll the time lmfao)

anyway i got pretty off topic bUT MY POINT IS that shang qinghua is best (imho) when he is a shameless egotistical shit-talker who's more or less impervious to the criticism of others

((man just fucking IMAGINE mobei jun's reaction when the ascension ceremony happens? like he FINALLY gets shang qinghua to talk shit to his face no less and then IMMEDIATELY gets abandoned. and like, it was kinda Really Bad Timing and also mobei jun never really wanted to just be a passive participant! he wanted to retort back! he wanted a back and forth! he wanted to refute shang qinghua's claims that he was spoiled just as much as he wanted to hear those claims! he wants the push and pull!!!! also as a general note i do think that shang qinghua's whole impervious thing is prolly routed in a lot of the trauma of being unwanted by family and all of that stuff, there was no one around to build his ego up so he built it up all on his own and he's really fucking good at building things up

A month ago... "Rach!" I shouted through my apartment. "Ye?" my roommate Rachel shouted before appearing in my doorway. "Do you know who the sidemen are?" I asked her. "Yes, they're massive on YouTube, why?" She replied plonking herself next to me on the bed. "They just asked me to be in one of their videos." She shot upright "what! Did you say yes?" She asked excitedly. "Umm, I haven't replied yet, are they weirdo's?" I asked since she knew of them. She laughed aloud "no I don't think so." she said with a giggle. "It says they want me to film a "twenty versus one", what's that?" I said flipping my phone around to show her the email. "That's a series, they do, let me just show you." she grabbed the control and flipped on my tv.

That night I went through a rabbit hole, researching these people. I wanted to make sure they weren't creeps before agreeing to be in a their video. They had a pretty massive following and there videos were entertaining. I eventually decided it'd be fun so agreed to be in the video. When I told Rach she was ridiculously excited.

Today is the day of the shoot. All I'd been given was a location and a time, so I got up early to get ready. I took a shower, dried and straightened my hair, did my makeup (adding extra powder so I wouldn't shine in the studio lights) then got dressed into a black, tight play suit, an oversized denim jacket and some black four inch heeled boots. Once I was finished I sprayed myself with my favourite perfume, grabbed my bag and left my apartment.

After a 30 minute drive my uber finally pulled up outside the filming location which just looked like a large building. I thanked him and slid out of the car. Just as I was walking towards the front entrance I was greeted by a woman who said her name was Tanya and that she was the head of production. "She seems nice" I thought as she led me inside. She brought me to a green room with multiple other women, and a table with drinks and food. I sat down on one of the chairs. "wait, are you y/n y/l/n?!" One of the girls asked me. I nodded "yep, that's me." I replied with a light smile. "Omg I love your vlogs!" She announced excitedly. "Thank you!" I said appreciatively.

Almost 20 minutes later all twenty of us were taken through into a small hallway, and formed into a queue. I was sixth and when it was my turn I walked out and stood on the marked spot on the white floor. "Hi, how are you?" I asked who I learned from my stalking was Harry. "Not great to be honest." he replied, clearly not enjoying this shoot. I laughed slightly "just breathe." I said breathing deeply in and out. He copied my actions and did the same. He smiled "yes." he said, flicking his hand towards the door then I heard a cheer from another room. "Thank you." I said politely and walked off the set.

Ten minutes later everyone was sent back into the room and we all stood in an oval shape facing the camera. Then Harry walked in and greeted us "hello everyone, I said yes to way too many people so if you don't like me please- leave." he chuckled then turned around to face the camera. Five people left leaving nine of us. Harry opened his eyes and turned back around "I'll take that, I'll take that, I'll take that, I'll take that," he repeated quickly "thank you very much. alright, I'll see you shortly, I guess." Then he left and all of us were taken back to the green room.

I sat there for well over two hours waiting, since I was the last one. Once it was finally my turn, I was taken back to the studio, by Tanya. "You'll do great!" she said with a light pat on my back just before I entered the room. I was reattached to a mic and then told to sit down on the comfy looking chair. Harry entered a few minutes later and I stood up to greet him with a hug. "Hello again, sorry you've been waiting so long." he said politely, before sitting down. I smiled "no problem." He took a breath in "so what's your name?" "y/n." I replied. "And what do you do?" He asked. "For fuck sake I hate this question" I thought. "I do YouTube." I replied. His eyes lit up slightly "oh, what kind of videos do you make?" He asked, sitting forward in his chair. "Vlogs, beauty stuff, outfits, that kind of thing." I said counting them on my fingers. "Oh cool." he said with a nod of his head.

The date lasted just under 15 minutes. From the video Rach showed me it seemed that these weren't just normal dates but it felt completely normal to me... actually in the other video there was one date where the man was just told to be himself, so maybe that was what was happening. We talked about what both of our favourite movies were, we found out we both lived in London and when I asked if he was into football he explained that that was what his YouTube channel was based off, along with an online game to do with football.

Once the date finished, we hugged goodbye and he left. Then I was asked two questions by the main camera man: what I thought about him and if I would go on another date. "I thought he was a really sweet and seemed interested in our convo. I will definitely go on another date with him." and as I said those words, I heard in eruption of cheers in another room, which Tanya had now explained was the other members of the sidemen watching the dates. I laughed slightly then stood up. I quickly had my mic taken off, then went to collect my things from the green room. As I was grabbing my things Tanya popped back into the room to ask me something, "the boys were just wondering if you could come and see them so they could thank you for coming." she asked. I smiled "of course."

She took me through a corridor, and then down a smaller hallway and into a room. There was a group of boys stood up in front of around six TVs that I assumed they had been watching the dates on. "Hey, nice to meet you, thanks for coming!" who I knew to be JJ said putting his hand out for a handshake. I shook his hand and said "thank you for having me." They all introduced themselves to me and we stood talking for a few minutes. Just before I left I heard my name "y/n!" I turned around to see Harry stood in front of me "I was just wondering... if it was okay with you, I could get your number?" he asked. I smiled "sure." He passed me his phone I typed my phone number in. "there." I said, passing his phone back to him. "thank you." he said with a sheepish smile. I waved the other boys goodbye before I left the building.

I wrote this post back when I used to be on priv on my side blog, but I came off priv when I realized how limiting Tumblr priv blogs were, so I didn’t really pay attention to some of my old posts.

This time, I also want to note the usage of Golden Apples and Silver Branches in the Kuroha/Saeru Joker art.

Silver branches are a symbol that represent “entry into the Celtic otherworld (land of the deities and possibly also the dead)” in Celtic mythology

It’s true that Saeru gained the pseudo immortality that he wanted with his “creations” Konoha and Ene, since he is directly responsible for causing Haruka and Takane’s deaths in most Routes.

Saeru managed to create someone immortal by killing Takane, so that she could gain an Eye Ability and become pseudo immortal in her new digital cyber body as Ene…

Saeru also ensures Konoha’s creation in most Routes. While it’s not the explicit pseudo immortality that Ene has, Konoha counts too.

Saeru can use Awakening Eyes to make his body pseudo immortal, by his own words.

That’s why I’m curious about the symbolism of Gold and Iron. Wonder if it has any thematic significance but I can definitely run with it.

Me: As I said in my OG post, Gold apples also represent immortality. And also, the usage of silver branches, paired with golden apples, in that art…

But his chosen nickname is definitely on purpose on his part, because bunnies are the prey of snakes, and he is the hunter (predator animal). So it still ends up playing up to his ego. 🐍🐇

Me: Yeah I'm not sure if, in general, in translations, people tend to use 鉄 (Tetsu) to refer to steel (or metals in general) in casual convos, even though it’s actually iron in the literal sense.

Or using 鉄 (Tetsu) when they actually mean 鋼鉄 (Koutetsu). Or if it's just because steel is the most common usage of iron. Steel is one of the most common iron alloys.

Iirc, when referring to the metals specifically, 鉄 (Tetsu) should be used to specifically refer to Iron, and 鋼鉄 (Koutetsu) and 鋼 (Hagane) should be used.

KuroEne AU: A Snake’s Sense of Smell

Me: Just gonna snatch this from my KuroEne AU rambles where I was discussing with Feila about my KuroEne AU route where Kuroha makes an android body for Ene (cuz his knowledge far surpasses regular humans) and indulges in the “game” with her.

Mary and Ene are the only ones left alive at the end of a Route and team up against Kuroha/Saeru to try and fend him off. MaryEne run away and retreat to come up with a plan to defeat him, find his plans (designs and sketches) of Ene's android body, then confronts him at his underground lab.

I’m mainly just including it cuz of how, with the fanon ideas that I came up with, how he could theoretically use the Awakening Eyes ability in my KuroEne AU works, to an extent beyond what’s shown in canon.

I took creative liberties for my own AU writing, since I wanna expand on characters and their relationships past what canon shows.

Using Awakening Eyes to rebuild his body and enhance it (ex. Giving himself a snake-like sense of smell in his humanoid body so that he can hunt “prey”)

Using Awakening Eyes to shapeshift into others (ex. Saeru leaves Kenjirou’s body earlier in my KuroEne AU, so he can just use Awakening Eyes to take his appearance to not cause suspicion, and create multiple fake identities to manipulate people to amass power and resources)

Me: Oh, I underestimated a snake’s sense of smell. Ok but imagine Kuroha/Saeru with a forked snake tongue. That would be cool

Yeah especially since Awakening Eyes can make the body into “whatever the owner finds to be ideal.” If he wants a body that’s able to have the same heightened sense of smell that a snake can, then he can do that.

(Kagerou Daze Manga: Ch. 63)

Me: I saw MR2 Kuroha/Saeru sniff the air in Ch. 63 when he enters the MekaDan's base, so he definitely has a much stronger sense of smell (as a Snake possessing a human vessel) compared to a regular human.

He can also modify his body however he wants with Awakening Eyes to be able to make it stronger, so he could also make his sense of smell stronger as well

He sniffs the air when he crashes into the MekaDan’s hideout. He was probably trying to see if the Dan was hiding anywhere so he could hunt them down, and then realized they weren’t there and that the Dan used Concealing Eyes to help leave the vicinity. So he most likely has the heightened smell of a snake that can smell from FAR distances away.

Me: Kuroha is the one who made Ene’s android body in my KuroEne AU, which I imagine has self-healing human flesh on the outside (similar to IRL scientists’ advancements in creating robots with self-healing skin).

Since he’s the embodiment of knowledge, his creations would be much more advanced, since he has knowledge from the beginning of civilization up to modern science

F: Since Awakening Eyes fixes the body molecule by molecule, then changing his range of scents can actually work, implementing a snake's organs onto a human body.

F: Also for that last part... oh Ene, my brother 😭

A mix of metal and flesh would have a unique smell, and it'd be easier to find her too

Me: I don’t think he even needs to change his organs since he can just use Awakening Eyes to wish for a body that can smell just like a snake

Me: Embodiment of knowledge/wisdom, shapeshifter (basically) who’s able to change his body into whatever he wants using Awakening Eyes, superhuman strength, can use Awakening Eyes to adjust his 5 senses and body too, etc. This is such a disaster set-up for the KuroEne AU Route I’m writing where MaryEne team up. I’ve written a lot for it, but I just haven’t posted most of it publically.

Me: And now, this begs the question of whether Concealing Eyes can manage to prevent someone like him from detecting scents, cuz I have no idea, it’s not stated. Is it only visibility related or does it work on the 5 senses too?

F: For [how he deflects] Mary's Eye Abilities... I'm guessing it's during while he's bounded, since with that he can fix both his organs and body parts and make it stronger so he could move again.

Cuz with Awakening Eyes, he can heal himself or rebuild the body to enhance it immediately

Me: HHHH YEAH LIKE HE CAN JUST HEAL THE BODY IMMEDIATELY. Like how he gets hit by a landslide in MR2 but just quickly heals the body with Awakening Eyes

Me: Also. Does his accumulation of knowledge apply to languages too? Like he MUST know the ancient language that Azami wrote in in her journal (that Ayaka was somehow able to read, to her own disbelief)

Me: Saeru tells Azami in MR2 that he’s the Ability that grants her her “wisdom”

I don't have this volume in JP yet but I wonder if the OG has it as "Knowledge"

KuroEne AU: Using Awakening Eyes to change into someone

KuroEne AU discussions with Feila: Route where MaryEne team up to try and fend off Kuroha after he's killed everyone and sneak into his lab to confront him and come up with a plan

I hadn't gotten the chance to post it yet but Feila and I came up with the idea that Kuroha could just use Konoha's Eye Ability Awakening Eyes to temporarily turn into Ene, then make it so that his body can shed off self healing skin (and any parts he needs). Then it makes making her android body infinitely easier cuz he'd have all the parts needed to make her body.

Kuroha is so fucked up but that makes him interesting so I say let him be. He's so fun to write for 👍

Cuz Awakening Eyes allows the owner of the body to make it into their "ideal body" and make it whatever they want. So he can do this, replicate it, and keep regenerating himself. And knowing this mf, he'd probably shed off his own skin from his body too to use as part of Ene's android body.

I want Ene to sneak into Kuroha’s lab and find his designs of the sketches and plans on her android body, and confront him about the creation of her android body (his motives/plans), why he made it, the reasons for his indulgence in their “game,” and all the parts he designed and added for his “pleasures,” etc.

Then I want him to be like, “Should I show you how I made your body?” :)

Then he just uses Awakening Eyes to turn into her (temporarily), using Awakening Eyes to give him a body that can shed off self-healing human skin like a snake, then shows her the process of a “snake shedding skin” (bits of skin cells falling off him and multiplying) right in front of her, and anything that falls off of him, regenerates on its own on his body.

And when he’s done showing her, he then changes back to his usual form as Black Konoha. He tells her that he added his own skin cells, etc., to use as part of her body, too.

Kuroha: You were made from me, and the unison of our parts, therefore, we are one ❤️

Kuroha/Saeru and Koyanskaya

This reminds me that I had a long KuroEne AU post where I mentioned Kuroha/Saeru’s similarities to Tamamo Vitch Koyanskaya (FGO), since they’re both animal beings who are close to nature, born from “the manifestation of a concept,” and have a contradictory nature of love for humanity (since they both hate and love humanity)

Koyanskaya tells the FGO protag's party everything she finds loathsome about humanity, and their virtues and vices.

They (Saeru and Koyanskaya) also utilize and weaponize mankind's technologies (ex. weapons of slaughter) better than any human can. Mocking the failures of others, just like a human would.

They acknowledge humanity’s vices and everything that makes them deplorable, while loving them (specifically their foolishness), are entertained by them, and enjoy tormenting them for fun as a pass-time out of bloodthirst and sadistic amusement.

They still have their own form of love for humanity (no matter how twisted that love may be)

Because in the end, humans are still animals that exist as part of nature.

Koyanskaya: A Nature Spirit born as an incarnation of the thoughts and feelings of animals persecuted by mankind

Saeru: Born from Azami's very first and strongest desire to know and understand herself

You can make parallels with Saeru and Koyanskaya since they were both born from the “manifestation of a concept”

Conceptual beings (animal beings) who are close to Nature and detest the world/humans but also love them in a way that threatens humanity (and/or humanity's existence)

I wanted to talk about Saeru and Koyan more but this is getting long. The contradictory nature of their love (hating while loving) is very human in itself.

Kuroha (クロハ), officially known as The Snake of Clearing Eyes (目が冴える蛇, Me ga Saeru Hebi) or Black Konoha (黒コノハ, Kuro Konoha) when possessing Konoha’s body, is the main antagonist of KagePro who causes the “Tragedy” of the Mekakushi Dan (Blindfold Gang) members.

Now that we've started off with that little character summary... I've been thinking about Kurohoe again /pos /endearing

Because of course. He's KagePro's main villain and antagonist with a banger design and incredibly interesting to me.

The Kuroha Joker Playing Card by Sidu made me wonder about the use of yellow in this illust.

Sidu very well could've used red here for Kuroha's eyes and the apples, cuz Kuroha's eyes can also glow red, as seen in the Outer Science MV. Kuroha's eyes glow red in the last chorus of Outer Science. Eye Ability users' eyes glow red when using their Eye Abilities.

But yellow has more visual contrast against the dark blacks and grays used in the composition of the Kuroha Joker card art.

Like, I was wondering if she coloured the apples yellow just because it's the same colour as Kuroha's eyes, and if there was any symbolism attached to the Golden Apple.

So I looked it up, and there is. The Golden Apple symbolizes immortality (in Greek and Norse mythology), and it was believed that eating a golden apple will grant you immortality.

Considering Kuroha's motivations/goals in KagePro, this is interesting.

Kuroha/Saeru, as KagePro's main villain, kills the Mekakushi Dan (Blindfold Gang) and wants to make Marry into his new master so that she can use her powers as a Medusa to rewind the world (due to her strong desire to be with her friends again), thus causing a "never ending tragedy" in which he can keep living forever.

KuroEne Rambles 🖤💙

His main goal is to fulfill Azami's first, original, strongest desire, the one that created him - she wanted to know and understand exactly who she was. And by doing this, he can continue to prolong his life by causing the tragedy. He seeks immortality, basically.

Before Ene lost her human body and became Takane, she wanted a body that wouldn't need to eat or sleep in response to her chronic illness that would cause her to fall asleep and faint and feel groggy even if she slept for long hours.

KuroEne technically have a character parallel going on.

Kuroha's Eye Ability is Clearing Eyes (目が冴える, Me ga Saeru)

"The Snake of Clearing Eyes seems to hold power over 'knowledge' itself due to the nature of the wish that created it."

"In the Novel Route, Shintaro refers to it as 'a living encyclopedia with a full grasp of everything from the start of civilization up to modern science'"

"The Snake of Clearing Eyes seems to be able to retain memories of past Routes through its power."

Ene has a pseudo immortal body due to her Eye Ability, Opening Eyes (目が覚め, Me ga Sameru). It allows her to split her consciousness from her body. Through this power, she became a cyber being that resides in and possesses electronic devices.

Kuroha/Saeru kills the Mekakushi Dan, Marry's friends, to spur on despair in Marry (due to the Tragedy), and the strong desire to meet with her friends again.

Kuroha/Saeru wants to preserve his own life, by killing Marry's friends and forcing her to rewind (reset) the world back to the very beginning, and live forever through countless routes (infinite, repeating time loop resets), and continue living on, at least until his purpose (of fulfilling Azami's original desire) is fulfilled.

Kuroha and Ene have an interesting character parallel. One seeks immortality, and one has a pseudo immortal body.

The Mekakushi Dan wants a future. And they want the "Tragedy" caused by Kuroha/Saeru to finally end, and for the Snake of Clearing Eyes to finally be put to a stop. And Kuroha robs them of a future.

KuroEne Rambles (Continued)

As said before, Kuroha/Saeru inevitably has a power imbalance with every character he's paired with (ie. power in terms of physical strength, and power over knowledge), so that's why you NEED to tread carefully with his ships. Imo, it can definitely still be done, though.

That's why making Ene more assertive and dominant in the ship just fits so well with Kuroha/Saeru cuz it helps alleviate the power imbalance slightly and balances it out more

Kuroha's ships have the potential to be really interesting though, when depicted/portrayed with care.

Cuz his character context with being the main antagonist/villain and main source of tension/conflict of the series, his knowledge of the time loops, combined with his S/O's context, and their current and previous loves, makes for such delicious angst fuel

The one who's the main instigator of the "Tragedy" who insists on the inevitability of fate, as someone who was created even before the creation of the world, and has known the world since the very beginning, and possesses knowledge of the many paths that the world has taken throughout all the timelines… The one who's observed the world since the very beginning

And the ones trying to fight back against it and escape the cycle because they want to have a future, past all the tragedy… Ooooogh

ShinAya and Paper Crane Symbolism

It seemed pretty likely to me that the usage of the Golden Apple is intentional in Kuroha's Joker Playing Card art, since KagePro's hanafuda card sets are filled with hidden meanings and symbolisms, like how Ayano's character and the ShinAya ship are associated with paper crane symbolism due to the symbolism attached to the crane, a mystical and holy figure in Japanese culture.

The crane symbolizes healing, loyalty, recovery, and a long life. In modern times, it's given to those who are seriously ill to wish for their recovery.

Senbazuru (千羽鶴, lit. "One thousand cranes") refers to the tradition of folding 1000 origami paper cranes.

It was traditionally believed that folding 1000 paper cranes would make the person's wish come true, so that's why Ayano always folded paper cranes for Shintaro (even taping back his ripped up test papers)

KagePro Lore Context (Summary)

Azami is a Medusa, the original creator and Master of all the Eye Ability Snakes. She originally unintentionally created the world with the Queen Snake, Combining Eyes, as a place for her to be able to learn about and understand himself.

Saeru was created by her first, original, strongest desire - she wanted to know and understand exactly what she was. She was also tricked by Saeru into creating the Kagerou Daze, a never ending world.

Azami despaired at the prospect of outliving her human husband (Tsukihiko) and her daughter, Shion, who were human and half-Medusa/half-human respectively.

Saeru told her to create the never ending world, Kagerou Daze, in order to allow her to be with her family forever, but she eventually ends up going into the Kagerou Daze alone because she believed she was bringing misfortune to her family.

Saeru detests the world for changing Azami's wish (the one that created him in the first place) of wanting to know and understand exactly what she was, to wishing to be with her family forever.

Because to him, it felt like the wish/desire that had given him life and meaning in the first place had been replaced.

So, everything HE had wanted, ended up coming to fruition. Saeru successfully tricked Azami into entering the Kagerou Daze and trapping her there, since he believes the world is unfit for her.

Centuries later, Azami witnessed Shion and Marry's deaths at the hands of humans in the real world. She ordered the Kagerou Daze (Heat Haze Daze), the never ending world, to take them in and save their lives, because time doesn't flow properly in the Kagerou Daze.

Azami gave Marry the Queen Snake, Combining Eyes, in order to allow her to be sent back to the real world. Azami lost control of the Kagerou Daze after losing the Queen Snake, so the Kagerou Daze now swallows up all people who die on the same day that Shion and Marry did, August 15th.

The Outer Science MV confirms that everytime Marry rewinds the world, it goes all the way back to the beginning. This means that the beginning of each new Route starts with Azami creating the world with the Queen Snake, Combining Eyes.

A completely unapologetic villain who's fun to watch and cathartic. He's definitely one of KagePro's most interesting charas imo.

Watching Voltron for the 1st Time: S7 Ep 12-13

Somehow I am still watching, still present, still accounted for. Stumbling across this clusterfuck in the wild? Have a long explanation of how we got here, or if you prefer shorter explanations, I got recommended this by a middle schooler whose respect I very much NEED (so she takes me seriously when I tell her about science), and now I've gotten far enough along that I feel like I have sunk enough cost to NEED to finish it. Okay!) but this moment is just robbed of ANY of that because. Well. WELL. THE SHOW NEVER EXPLORES ANY OF THAT. SO. YAY SENDAK DEAD IG BUT IT MEANS NOTHING NOW

I also think really missed opportunity to have that mean something in that we haven't seen Keith and Shiro really speak AT ALL since Shiro's mind controlled clone tried to murder Keith and Keith broke him free and then Keith had Shiro's dead consciousness transfered to the clone body like what even are they to each other now. Show has Keith say they're brothers, then they don't act like siblings or really ANYTHING??? And now I'm supposed to think Keith murking Sendak matters NOT COMPARED TO ANYTHING ELSE HE'S DONE AND CERTAINLY NOT TO THEIR RELATIONSHIP WHICH DOESN'T EXIST THIS SEASON

Self sacrifice is a very poorly handled theme of this show and practically it pisses me off that the show does nothing to really drive home how significant it is. With the blades that die, with Keith pulling that move at Naxela, with Shiro, with the paladins now, it goes on. If you want to examine self sacrifice but you're unwilling to look at what it does to people, if you're unwilling to look at people's relationships and the love that DRIVES people to do that, then you shouldn't! There is no self sacrifice without someone to sacrifice yourself FOR.

I finished this season and I feel nothing at all! Wow! Here's the thing right. This show has a lot of potential tucked away in a soup of bad decisions and a supremely rushed development. I WANT to appreciate what could've been.

But that also feels like appreciating something that is entirely constructed. Yeah, if there'd been a lot of things going differently this show could've been good. If my mom had balls she'd be my dad, if you will. I can't appreciate what's not there. I just. Man! Plenty of things have pretty good concepts. If the actual execution isn't there behind it, there's nothing. Most sci fi has a fun concept. I mean come on, "What if some people got shot into space and there were ALIENS and GIANT ROBOTS" is really hard to make seem boring as an idea. So like. When I mention good ideas being in this show as the only positive that's like... just the fact that the genre conventions are FUN.

I get it man. I get that making a whole animated show in under three years is an impossible task. WHICH. BY THE WAY. IS WHY YOU SHOULDN'T DO IT! It's just. Unthinkable to me that anyone thought this was a good idea. When I am done with this show and therefore unafraid of spoilers/fandom interpretation leakage into my interpretation of the text, I am going to seek out interviews and explanations with showrunners because it is BAFFLING to me that anyone thought this timeline was a good idea.

I've said before that the story feels like it's just moving characters from A to B to C without much thought as to the journey. The meat on the bones. The depth to the story. And that kind of. HAPPENS with first drafts. It does! And you can see the first draft traces all over the show– characters suddenly changing in characterization with very little explanation (cough Lance and Allura and Keith) (Lance's characterization is all over the damn map! That's because they probably MEANT for him to have a pretty significant development as the audience's surrogate, but they just. Did not have time to write the in-betweens) (Allura just doesn't get nailed down at ALL and especially the second they throw Lotor in they forget about anything they had established about her) (And Keith is. Well. The fucking 180 they did on him to the point where he is now. Boring. Without showing us anything)

The plot itself has SO MANY significant moments happening offscreen, or in exposition dumps, or in flashbacks to things we didn't see! There's threads brought up and abandoned (the Blade of Marmora is being hunted down, the fact that Lotor made Voltron his representative to the Galra empire and that's never addressed, hell even Shiro's time as the arena champion!) that would also probably get worked out and refined WITH TIME.

There's also a really spectacular amount of gays that got buried this season. Which. Uh. Makes me a lil uncomfortable! Ezor and Zethrid our space lesbians, fucking Adam. Hell even Shiro himself if you really want to nitpick lmfao. No gay left unburied! There's characters that they just have no clue what to do with (Acxa) that are likely remnants of some plan that never came to fruition.

This show is underbaked! It didn't finish marinating before they threw it in the oven and it CERTAINLY didn't finish cooking in the oven. You can dress it up any which way you want, it doesn't WORK.

And that's a shame because there's a lot of talent on the show! I've spoken before about how great the performances are, how beautiful the art is, and when the writers have something substantial they've written, it's really really lovely (the Keith and Shiro fight and in general their development through the first six seasons is excellent and has subsequently just been lost in the season 7 shuffle) (I really loved Allura and the Balmera as well). But there's just SO MUCH that doesn't have any development.

It's a children's show (or at a minimum geared to middle/very early high schoolers) and they've got characters KILLING other characters and that's never explored! I don't understand how this came to be! Main characters killing other characters on screen in ANY work of fiction, even those for adults, is typically treated with gravity!

There is also how poorly this show handles race which..... I think is also something that would've benefitted from Further Marination Before Attempting To Finish It Off. All of the things I've mentioned about it in prior posts are not in and of themselves inherently problematic if they are handled with some sort of grace.

I do not think this draft of Voltron possessed much grace.

Ultimately the themes of this show just. Are lacking in every way. What is the point of this show? Self sacrifice? In some sense? But that's certainly not explored. To show us absolute power corrupts absolutely? It doesn't! Not in canon! Oppression and colonization are bad? Certainly not a narratively challenged idea in the text!

Ultimately I think the only thing this show successfully says is "Hey isn't space pretty? Isn't it fun to draw bigass robot lion spaceships? Isn't this fight cool?" Which. I think is kind of a shame because of how much the show brings up and either fails to address or just. Reinforces (again, the symbol of peace in this universe is a weapon)

None of the characters are friends, the few that have meaningful relationships are just kind of dropped or forgotten about, the characters don't feel like themselves. I feel like they're all just dolls being moved around. An empty husk of a figure so you can choose your favorite color and a toy they pilot and pretend YOU are your favorite trope, buy it now!

And maybe I was the real clown to hope for more than that when that's what this show was about all the way back in its first iteration, but I don't feel like it's my fault when the openings of this show promised so much, only to deliver on none of it.

And since we ALSO got an episode dedicated to just the wolves, I hope we get one for the zombie trio in the future, too. We've gotten more of the 3 of them hanging out than we have of the main 3 cheerleaders, but it'd still be cool to get an episode on them :)

hmmm let me go through the list of canon multilinguals in my mind... yuno speaks english (although we don't know how much), shidou speaks english and conversational german, mahiru took chinese classes in college, and kotoko speaks english and conversational korean + chinese. (i think that's all of them but lmk if i missed any/misremembered smth!)

if the words in MVs really do come from their mind and it's not just milgram magic to make a more interesting video, we can surmise that a lot of other prisoners are familiar with different languages! i'll use this logic for my analysis/headcanons bc it's the most interesting...

judging by bring it on, fuuta probably only knows scattered phrases relating to the games he played. (mission complete, swords, hits, etc).

iirc, muu has spent time in nice, france with her mom, so i think she would definitely know some french!! however, children of multilingual/multiethnic families either tend to be multilingual from a very early age, or not at all. some immigrant families do this to help their children assimilate to the adopted culture, and discourage using their native tongue so that their children "blend in" better. personal anecdote- my family did this. i was raised trilingually until i was 3, but my parents had to stop because i was having developmental difficulties separating the three languages (probably due to autism) and societal pressure from living in america at the time and needing to sign me up for preschool soon. ANYWAYS- back to muu. i think this scenario is very likely for her too. living in japan all her life and with parents who both spoke japanese just fine, muu didn't have much of a reason to learn french. her parents also probably didn't want her to be more "other"ed than she already was by being biracial in japan.

mahiru also has some english in tihtbilwy, which i like to headcanon she saw in fashion magazines :3 like fuuta though, just random words and phrases.

KAZUI is interesting. cat is entirely subtitled in english, which would imply (under this interpretation) that he has a lot of proficiency, enough to translate all of his thoughts fluently. on top of that, french lyrics are also seen in some parts! i kinda see this as him being fluent in japanese/english, and having an intermediate level of french.

update: ok no he's definitely fluent in french as well, maybe not as good as his english but still. he's using verb tenses like the conditional and the pronoun "en" ("Nous irait mieux", "T'en penserais quoi?") which takes a while to get to and would imply that he's at a higher level.

i don't think there's any other languages (or much written word at all) in amane's mvs, which makes sense as she's very sheltered and still just a child. although she uses a lot of complicated vocabulary in japanese, i don't think she'd be exposed to any other languages or cultures within her community. cults usually have an "us vs them" and isolationist mentality, which don't mesh well with things that expand your horizons like learning a language.

mikoto has english in his mv in double, albeit blurry and hard to make out. i kinda interpret this as him learning a bit when he was younger, but forgetting most of it and not having a lot of practice. that, or mikoto has some skill but john doesn't. both are possible! (some of my alters speak french perfectly while others suuuck at it) working at a top design agency, i think being bilingual definitely would've given mikoto an edge among other applicants... but it's probably not *absolutely* necessary unless you're working within the government or the service industry. i do like the idea of kazui and shidou having a fast conversation in perfect english and mikoto's just standing there like ":) yes! so true!" and trying to keep up lol

Hey, I was just reading your idea for the ending of Homestuck and I noticed that in your write-up Davesprite died, which I found very interesting. I have always thought that Davesprite's survival sort of combated the idea of being bound and doomed to the Alpha Timeline, and the fact that he made it to the end was thematically consistent with escaping the narrative. What is your opinion on Davesprite, and what do you think his purpose in Homestuck is?

I really disagree with this idea that the "point" of Homestuck is to "escape the narrative," as if the characters discovering a means to unstick themselves from the alpha timeline (which is defined as "the timeline that brings about LE", and thus, has always been set up to be something that must be refuted for a happy ending) is not, in fact, part of the narrative. I think people tend to forget that John's aspect, Breath, is literally about choices and freedom, making the Retcon abilities a natural final culmination of his aspect, and that to master these powers, John was required to finish his planetary quest.

Or that when Dave and Rose discuss how much they don't want to finish their quests, the two of them are at their lowest emotional points (Rose having just gone sober and procrastinating talking with Kanaya, and Dave having just been reminded of his lost childhood innocence to the point he broke down crying). The point of them saying they don't want to continue their quests isn't "yeah, man, we're people, we don't have arcs, it's dumb to do quests" - because, again, finishing his quest is what grants John the ability to choose a new future. The point being made by Rose and Dave's reluctance is that self-improvement is hard, gruelling, unpleasant, and uncomfortable - that Rose doesn't want to do hers because it's painful to acknowledge that she was, indeed, a kid who needed guidance, and not the know-it-all-adult she was trying to be, and that Dave doesn't want to do his because it's easier to give up on it than to grapple with his feelings of inadequacy - easier to be a side passenger in his own life than to fight for a better future. We aren't supposed to agree with them that shirking their character arcs is cool and fun.

"They're escaping the narrative" doesn't actually mean anything... it's an odd battle cry that I believe arises from the HS audience's general unfamiliarity with postmodernism (and the fact that the story makes a hard swerve after Game Over in terms of themes and character arcs, which - given the context of Hussie's life and internet presence during and after - is pretty obviously the result of balking at continuing HS for any longer than they had to). Homestuck's storytelling methods, including its meta-ness, usage of the author as a character, etc. etc., are actually quite standard for that genre - having characters be genre savvy enough to comment on the tropes they see and act in defiance of them isn't new, Homestuck didn't invent that, and still counts as being "a narrative." It'd be "escaping the narrative" if John got his powers, grabbed everyone, zapped them away to somewhere the audience couldn't follow, and then the comic ended like that. But that's not what happened.

If we actually go back and look at Davesprite, his baggage is pretty consistently about the fact that he's not "the real dave". When Jade complains about Davesprite, Dave immediately goes "omfg, this is about him being salty he's not the real dave, isn't it". But that's not all that's in play with Davesprite, because Davesprite is a Dave, and thus a way for us to peer into Dave's psyche. Remember what I said earlier about Dave's reluctance to finish his quest stemming from his worries about inadequacy? That comes up again from Davesprite. The reason Davesprite is so concerned with being not the "real" Dave is because he thinks it's proof that he's inadequate (and, by extension, that the people around him are better off without him around).

DAVESPRITE: maybe she was that desperate to finally get away from me DAVESPRITE: between you and me john DAVESPRITE: i didnt really handle things with her as well as i could have DAVESPRITE: oh well maybe real dave will treat her better DAVESPRITE: or not i dont know DAVESPRITE: i did her a favor cutting bird dave out of her life

You know, because he's a kid whose brother was constantly physically abusing him under the guise of him not being strong enough, and Hussie outright says that know-it-all-ism, intellectual assertion and superiority, and mansplaining are traits Dirk tends to have at his worst. A huge amount of Dave/Davesprite's baggage is having spent so much of his life being made to feel less than Bro and not good enough, and then Bro died before Dave could get any closure on that front. And now, as a self-fulfilling prophecy, Davesprite's self-loathing and baggage cause him to ruin his own relationships - thus "proving" that he wasn't worthy of having them.

JADE: jeez you sure have some issues JADE: honestly it has become very tiresome listening to this sort of thing JADE: i thought davesprite had problems JADE: his issues i could kind of understand JADE: i thought you might be different, being the alpha dave and all JADE: but no JADE: you might be even more messed up inside than he was!

Therefore, Davesprite's character arc isn't about how "the narrative" has "doomed" him and he must "escape it," it's about how he (and Dave) need to address the root problem - their self-loathing and unresolved childhood trauma - and move past it. It seems to be a Knight thing to struggle with self-loathing, as Latula and Karkat have deep inadequacies and insecurities too, so addressing these emotional problems is literally part of Dave's arc set out for him by SBURB.

Moreover, Ultimate Self is in play, and in general, the comic has suggested that every iteration of every character is an extension of the original character multiple times. It's not just Dave and Davesprite who conflate themselves and play with the idea that they are ultimately the same guy - the Dancestors see their Alternian counterparts as being extensions of themselves, for example, and Heart players are explicitly said to have journeys of splintered selves, which can also be caused by certain classes in other aspects. What this concept of Ultimate Self brings to Dave/Davesprite is twofold:

First, it means that which Dave is "real" is moot - they are both equally real, and equally relevant, because they are facets of the same ultimate person. I think there's a reason that the person who brings up the Ultimate Selfhood spiel in the truncated ending we got is a mixture of Nepeta (the Heart player I think was intended to achieve Ultimate Selfhood in Hussie's original planned ending, since that's so Rogue of Heart) and Davesprite, who explicitly says that his baggage has been resolved by realizing that he's a part of this greater whole - in other words, finding acceptance with his place in the world, and with that acceptance, finding within him the well of strength needed to go fight LE (or, symbolically, to fight for a future free of what LE represents - which includes the shitty stuff that Bro imposed on him).

Second, what it means is that Davesprite dying (and getting to join the Game Over crew in killing LE) is, at worst, a bittersweet ending. Part of the Ultimate Selfhood spiel is that ALL characters will eventually reach that enlightened state as a final culmination of understanding their aspect (read: completing their personal growth journeys), so as long as a character survives the ending (which I believe all of them were originally intended to do), then eventually - even if off-screen - that character will remember being their other iterations, and doing the things their other iterations did. In a sense, all the dead ghosts from the bubbles (besides the dancestors, who are an antagonistic force overall) get to live on through the surviving cast.

So what I've given to Davesprite in my ending is this: he talks to Nepeta and is told about Ultimate Selfhood, which comforts him WRT his place in the world and helps him deal with his feelings of inadequacy - we see him dead in the bubbles, where he and (Dave) get to fight/talk and complete their character arcs by reaching an understanding with each other - and then we find out that he died by playing a vital role in the fight against the Jacks, a kind of culmination of his acceptance of himself and his duty to choose a brighter future, which isn't fully a sacrifice/death because there's an explicit understanding that Dave will one day come to be Davesprite and (Dave) as well.

And then Davesprite and (Dave) go to fight LE, because LE is the villain of this story. He directly symbolizes immaturity, cruelty, and the worst parts of society - a child who deliberately stunted his own emotional maturity via greed, selfishness, and ambition, combined with the worst aspects of Equius (a casteist), Gamzee (a religious fundamentalist), and Dirk (Bro).

Let's not forget that Bro became as bad as he did because he was under the influence of Cal, and that an aspect of Dirk is literally part of LE. (Dave)'s arc - his reluctance to fight LE because of his self-loathing - has a clear trajectory of picking up his sword to fight LE not because the game or Grimbark Jade are telling him to, but because (Dave) decides that he deserves to fight for a better future, one where the things LE stand for are consigned to the void. Even if (Dave) himself is not able to directly enjoy this future, post-retcon Dave will, and via Ultimate Self, so will (Dave) and Davesprite, in due time.

As God Tier!Calliope says, and as I believe is how we should view the struggles of those who wind up in the dream bubbles:

CALLIOPE: you don't need to do anything. CALLIOPE: be who you've become, and who i didn't. CALLIOPE: consume the fruits of an existence i could never understand. CALLIOPE: live.

The dead, doomed, and irrelevant - including Davesprite and (Dave) - are the ones to fight and defeat LE, and by doing so, they symbolically render him "nothing more than a bad dream". Moreover, Caliborn explicitly says he's orchestrating his own defeat: if Caliborn has it his way, then everybody loses. Game Over was part of Caliborn's plans BECAUSE it would render everybody dead and in the dream bubbles, where they'd be in position to fight and kill him. This is the ending he's chosen - one where nobody gets to survive, and his servants, the Condesce and the Jacks - get to impose their will on what remains of the new world.

What he wasn't counting on was that the Heir of Breath would gain the ultimate power of Breath - the power to choose something new. Using this, he's able to create a timeline free of LE's will. He isn't escaping the narrative, but he IS shaking off the alpha timeline - symbolically, shaking off the shackles placed on them by cruel ancestors, creepy uncles, abusive guardians, and messed-up society. These survivors are then able to fight and defeat LE's living servants, thus clearing the path for a new universe free of his influence.

(Dave) and Davesprite dying, fighting LE in the bubbles, and being sucked in by the black hole are part of the ultimate sacrifice, a culmination of their arcs and a will to defeat the cruelty that defined so much of their lives - and that is what lets them reap the Ultimate Reward.

(Starting off strong with three fics by the same author, lmao)

"Casting Rain", "Phantom Pains" and "A Good Ol' Fashioned Hell-Raising" all by SilverSkye13 If you can't tell, I found and proceeded to fall head over heels in love with SilverSkye13's Undertale writings. Go check out their works, they're such a good writer! Onto the fics I'm highlighting here-

Casting Rain Walks in Crumples to the ground Sobs This fic. Omfg this fic. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- An Undertale Wartime!Grillby fic, follows our favourite fire boy's experiences from towards the end of the war all the way up until just after the barrier is created, and it is SO GOOD. Gaster's also there! It's not a Grillster fic, they're just friends, but I feel like they can be read as queerplatonic/platonic life partners (I certainly do, XD). And honestly, who can blame them, because HOT DAMN THESE BOYS GO THROUGH IT. This fic is so fucking beautiful. It goes on the list of fics, a very short list, that have been able to make me cry, there are so many ups and downs to it, the characters go on so many interesting journeys (both physically and development wise), and the author's notes are also a really fun read. THERE'S ALSO CHAPTERS WITH MUSIC TO SYNC IT TO, AND LIKE?? THE SELECTION IS SO GOOD?? Seriously the music just ELEVATES the reading experience so much (personal favourite is Chapter 63, can't listen to or think about that song without the section it's meant to play in Casting Rain happening in my head, XD. A close second would be Chapter 74) It is a LOOOOOOONG fic (90 CHAPTERS, OVER 400K WORDS, HUH), took me a week to get through it, but let me tell you it's so worth it.

It is also DARK. Chapter 48 onwards it just keeps getting darker and darker (ha). Not to say that the other 47 chapters previous aren't dark, but it's ESPECIALLY there after Chapter 48. There's gore, there's violence, there's a lot of death, there's a lot of grief and really dark headspaces, there's war and it's NOT sugarcoated, so be wary! Also, don't be me and ignore the "Character Death" tag. Cause it's there for a reason. And it drop kicks you in the face. Distant wailing

Phantom Pains Best way to describe this one is; don't fuck around with a timeline cause holy shit you do NOT want to find out. Decided to save this one for later halfway through Casting Rain (since, fun fact, Casting Rain was created to expand on the Wartime!Grillby headcannons Phantom Pain touches on, although they're perfectly able to be read independently of each other), and like, oh my god I'm so glad I did?? It's so good, SO GOOD.

Like Casting Rain, this fic gets DARK. Sans isn't doing well mentally (neither is Papyrus, honestly... which, tbf, considering their situation, can't say I blame 'em, lol), and this fic doesn't sugarcoat it. So be careful! Trigger warnings for especially dark headspaces are in the top author's note at each appropriate chapter, but it's be a disservice if I didn't warn you guys about that. I will admit, Sans' characterisation might not be for everyone (listen, early day Undertale fandom, give it a break, XD), but I say it's justified in the context of the story, especially as you learn more about said context as the story goes on. And! Papyrus' characterisation is definitely quite a world's difference from the characterisations of other Paps around during that time (I say it'd be more accurate to his canon counterpart, actually!) Also, Grillby is a BAMF, absolute MVP (Sans and Paps BOTH would be so much worse off without him, XD), and has zero shits left to give. Which, if you do what I did and read Phantom Pains AFTER Casting Rain, it makes a lot of sense, lmao.

A Good Ol' Fashioned Hell-Raising WE'RE GOING TO THE WILD WEST WITH THIS ONE, FUCKERS! Grillby is a retired outlaw just trying to make an honest living in a small town, but his life gets turned upside down when his old partner (in more ways than one-), Gaster, shows up out of the blue, with trouble from their old life close at his heels. God, I love this fic SO MUCH. Also, when I had to take breaks from it for life, consistently ended up with my internal monologue having a southern drawl to it, XD.

There's a lot of violence in the one (obviously), so be wary of that!

"Nightfall" by Leletha SUCH a good fic, good LORD Hiccup gets kidnapped by Cloudjumper along with Valka as a baby and ends up being a feral dragon boy who's probably (read; definitely) platonic soulmates with Toothless. SO. GOOD. URGH The way Leletha handled dragon speech, behaviour and intelligence in this is SO GOOD and also a take I haven't ever really seen in the HTTYD fandom?? It's so animalistic but also not?? It's hard to describe and honestly best to experience yourself. ALSO THE WAY THE HUMAN CHARACTERS ARE TREATED WITH SO MUCH GRACE AND RESPECT (poor Stoick and his absolute mess and how that is handled is arguably my favourite, XD)?? Chef's kiss BEAUTIFUL! I need to reread it soon, lol. It's also part of a series! Bunch of little off-shoot stories, alongside a re-writing of both HTTYD2 and THW! I need to get around to reading those two, honestly.

This fic gets violent, and can be a mild mind bend at first in Hiccup's chapters (thanks to the way he acts and speaks and thinks, I love him, lol), but you get used to it. So be wary around the violence!

We're In This Together! Okay, to be completely truthful with you, This has to be my ultimate favorite Nine Inch Nails song if only by instrumental alone. Seriously, I'm obsessed with the background music for this one. It's difficult for me to describe the ways in which I adore this song because of how numerous they are <3

The Great Below! Another track where his vocals are kind of whispery LMAO maybe there's a pattern here... I'm probably going to say this about each song lol but this one is so special to me. Texas, USA

As much as a dislike Texas, a region based on it would be nice. It could also bring a lot of neat pokemon. Imagine the wild areas too!

South Africa

Or just an African region in general. I don't have a reason for this other than the cool pokemon that could come with it, and I have pokemon OCs that are from a pokemon version of South Africa. It probably won't happen because Japan has a lot of xenophobia and racism, but I can hope (They added a Hawaiin region and I know that's US territory, but all 3/4 Kahunas were Hawaiin and dark skinned, so it could be closer than we think)

Egypt

5th grade me made an Egyptian pokemon region called Asaro. I never worked on it much, but I remember making a ghost type eeveelution that was a mummy (it was a regional variant of the OG ghost type I made). If they were to ever make an African pokemon region, Egypt would be the best one.

Italy

I literally have no reason for this other than I think the towns could look nice.

Australia

I think the next pokemon region is going to be Asutralian because each gen gives us a hint to the next (Example: Pokemon swsh showed art of a cherry and a grape in the hotel, which is pokemon sv). For Pokemon Scarlet, we got an image of a mountain that resembles a mountain in Asutralia.

I think an Asutralian region would be super cool. I actually had an Australian region in 5th grade called Sonin, and I want the Australian region to be real so bad to bring 5th grade me peace.

Example: a cardinal fakemon that looks like a thief, a maid raccoon because they're actually pretty clean, and the early grass types you find that turn into hot plant ladies could be corn. My friend actually made one when we were younger, and I made a map of it during quarantine. I remember making a cool town that was underground and held a ground-type gym leader.

China

I don't have any reasoning for this. I just think it'd be neat. OH WAIT! I just remembered an old fakemon I made named Fumo! It was a starter for a Chinese based region I don't remember the name of, and it was a red panda. I remember liking it a lot, and I might redraw it some day!

India

India is a really big place, and it'd probably be the biggest region. Honestly, they might just have to choose a section of India. But India has a lot of culture, and also has 1 billion people, so a lot of fans would be able to relate to it.

Mexico

There's actually an artist @voidarkana who is working in a Mexican region on their insta. I'm actually surprised we haven't gotten one, or at least hinted at one sooner (I can because Japan is xenophobic as hell). Buy there could be cool things with a Mexican region. And could you imagine the mythical and regional variants??? Imagine an Alebreje pokemon, or a Dia de los Muertos Houndoom!

Brazil

I made one in 5th grade (I made a lot of shit in 5th grade). I don't remember what it was called. I think it was Bravo or something? Idk. I want this because RAINFOREST WILD AREA. Imagine climbing on these massive vines with the newer graphics, and being able to go on the canopy! Or imagine a town in a rainforest and it'd be a cool treetop city! It'd be like Fortree city, but so much better!

Germany

Germany has a lot of culture, which I think would be fun to explore in pokemon. Plus, they could make SO many pokenon off of the Grimm's fairytales.

California, USA

California is gross, expensive, and polluted irl, but it could be super nice in a pokemon game.

Canada

I made a Canadian region named Calle in 5th grade, and I liked it a lot. It's where I had a Buneary regional variant that was ice type and had these cute little slippers. And one of the starters was an ice type hare, and I thought it was super cute.

Greece

A YouTuber had an idea for one, and I liked it a lot. I don't remember who made it, but they had the idea of the gym leaders being based off the gods, and the champion being based on a Greek Hero. That'd be so cool!

This guy got hooked on MC like coke and is trying to legit KILL AIS. He gets soooo bothered when you talk about the seaspring. I am so curious how he will act after trying to do everything to accommodate and please MC, only for them to leave him like others have AGAIN. For that power and potential special person that could rely on him entirely to slip from his fingers for the guy he seems to secretly fucking hate for whatever reason, the guy who he calls his rival.
