I'm going to make a longer post on the Watcher debacle later because there is a lot to be said about it, and I'm at work right now so I can't say all I want to, but real quick I want to say this:

Both on YouTube and here on tumblr I'm seeing a lot of comments like:

"Who wants to bet this was Steven's idea"

"Shane would never do this to us, you can see him hurting"

"Shane is literally the only sane and logical person at that company"

And so on. While I don't doubt that Steven's future career plans are playing a small role in this decision (I'll discuss that in my post), none of the comments I'm seeing come from that place. Instead, they're all characterizing Steven as a greedy, selfish monster who just wants to ruin Watcher and everyone's fun.

To everyone making these types of comments vilifying Steven (and to a lesser extent Ryan) while defending Shane: your racism is showing whether you're aware of it or not.

I get that the news is upsetting. But spewing hate toward the men of color at Watcher while bemoaning how the white man is the only one in the right is racist. Being upset about a paywall is no excuse for racism. You all should fucking know better.
