Y'all remember that old trend that occurred with Macaque's concept form and whatnot? I was going over it and recalled seeing the second one which I didn't see most people mentioning before, so I decided to draw him!

I did use a lego detail from the official lego set (mainly bc I like adding things like that) so that's why he has the two lines on his eyes! I might play around with this design for a bit, simply because I enjoy his old concept form!

so since it's the 20th in my time, it is officially my birthday today!

But I wanted to get this out regardless so kinda count it as the previous day's ig

I will be posting something later today probably but it will most likely just be a compilation of all the cakes I've done thus far.

Ok but um on with the cake!

It's like a cheesecake and I basically copied Tengen's cake with like a jelly filling with fruit suspended in it, peaches (obviously), strawberries and blueberries cause I like them and sod it I'll put them on this goddamn cake!

The thing Wukong's sitting on is one of those peach ice creams that's gotten so popular lately with the sprinkle of pink dust thingy on top.

On either side of the cake is the fillet from the journey and the hat from the brotherhood era, one from his reckless past and one from his redemption and I just think that's neat.

The blue puffy stuff is meant to be his nimbus clouds represented as cotton candy.

I have the baiju jar in there as reference to Wukong becoming immortal again due to the all the wine made from the peaches of immortality at the festival.

The staff as a little candle was so fun! And I like pocky so I chucked them on there to fill space and it looks good so sue me

The grey thing behind the staff and balloon is meant to be the Buddha's hand that trapped him under the mountain and a reference to his imprisonment under 5 phases mountain.

The two sugar cookies are meant to be his logo (aka the lmk logo) and fireworks, again taken from Tengen's cake.

The sun is a candied/tanghulu esque orange thing. Like an orange slice coated in yellow melted sugar shaped like a sun and the phoenix feather cap since I consider it iconic enough to put in here. I didn't want to put it on him, blocking a lot of the decorations so I just hung it to the side and I think I'm happy with that.

A lot more monkeys here! It was very fun popping them in! I know I only gave Mac 1 but I mean Wukong's the monkey king for a reason. Let him be a loving grandpa and invite his subjects on the cake with him. He granted them immortality by ripping their names out the book of dead, let them have a place on the cake too

Also, yes that is the origami pilgims in the bottom left, I couldn't leave them alone could I?

Now the elephant in the room (or at least in my head), yes I did use @maplesleep's matcha pancake design for flower fruit mountain.

Cake on cake. Bit much but hey, I like cake and pastries better than candy normally so win for me.

And I couldn't just make cake about Sun Wukong without mentioning his home/origins of ffm. I do genuinely love the inginuity and adorableness factor of the pancake design and hope they don't mind me slapping it on my...cheesecake? Jelly cake? Jelly-cheesecake?

(also I have to ask @maplesleep, did you watch the 3rd emirichu anime cafe video, specifically the urusei yatsura cafe as inspiration for the 'sun wukong's strawberry sponge cake punishment' parfait thingy, gorgeously drawn btw I used those drawings as inspiration quite a bit for these cakes, or saw the urusei yatsura collab anime cafe

cause I couldn't help but notice the similarities between that and the 'shinobu's maiden strength parfait' cause if you didn't that be a pretty funny coincidence lol)

So what do you think? You think I could make it as another lmk food chef for lego? Can I join the club lmao?

I do realize in retrospect the disrespect I did Mk by making his cake so plain by comparison to his mentor's. But I think that's a testament to my improvement and attention to detail when making these cakes as the days have progressed!

I consider Mk's in particular to be the most lacking and I lowkey feel so bad for my boi for not giving him the main character status he deserves.

I might draw him again, idk. Not anytime soon though, like I said, I'm quite busy now more than before and I need a break, still glad I could serve y'all another slice of cake though!

7th February 2023: The LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, today announced the much-anticipated LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set, inspired by the award-winning film adaptations. This highly detailed, 6,167 piece set features the iconic Elven stronghold from Middle-earth and comes complete with 15 minifigures.

Home to the house of Elrond, Rivendell is a key location in Middle-earth and events of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, as the place where the Fellowship was formed and the quest to destroy the One Ring began.

The LEGO The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set is packed with fan favourite moments and Easter eggs, and can be built in three sections including; Section one, featuring:

MF Day #54: Snax

I find all the Munchos designs to be so fun and creative, and Snax is no exception. His head in particular really excels his personality of being a big snack eater, the way the LEGO design utilized those sphere-shaped pieces for Snax’s cheeks is brilliant! It both looks great and fits in perfectly with the food-eating theme. And that officially caps off the Mixels lineup of 2015, another great batch of mixels that could easily stand toe to toe with the previous one. The LEGO crew really stepped up with crafting creative and memorable designs for tribes both old and new. And even though not all of them got enough time to shine on the show as much as the previous group, they’re nonetheless fun and enjoyable characters to play and mix with on our own. But now the time has come that we move on to the third and final year of Mixels. Will it be as strong as the previous two volumes? Let’s find out…

Logo Design

Hi, this is Zhuang. I made all the art for this series. And here's how I came up with the logo for this project.

First of all, this was made on Procreate with purchased painting brushes by artist 茶子鱼插画 on Bilibili. She specializes in creating traditional paintings digitally. You are welcome to check her out.

From the very beginning, we decided that the logo has to be round because we need it to be able to spin smoothly, mimicking the spinning discs you see on music apps. After that, settling for a monkey head was kind of a no-brainer. The idea is for the logo to have both strong JttW features and also reflect the nature of the project as an audio series.

I'll start explaining from the center.

① The heart-shaped face of the monkey is a tribute to the classic facial makeup of Sun Wu Kong from traditional Chinese theater (not limited to Peking Opera, other regional variations feature similar aesthetics). The pattern on the forehead refers to a bead/pearl that is a common symbol in Buddhist belief.

I have a scroll (right) on my wall with a similar design.

You can also find elements of this design in the 1960s animated movie The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven. And their official lego figure too. (Yes, this is also mine.)

We chose this design as a salute to JttW's theater roots, as this story was the collective creation of many generations of grassroot performers. They may be actors on stage, or they may just be storytellers in a teahouse, and what we are doing now is only a return to where JttW began but in a different language. We are delivering the story in the same way it was meant to be delivered 500 years ago.

② Peaches for headphones.

In the story, Wu Kong ate divine peaches, or Pan Tao 蟠桃.

In modern Chinese, Pan Tao also refers to a type of flat peaches. As you can see, the Wikipedia page simply equates the two Pan Tao, suggesting that this is the type of peach Wu Kong ate, which we don't think is correct.

Flat peaches are only grown in the northern regions of the country, so it is unlikely that ancient text from way before JttW would even know this type of fruit existed. Their imagination of Pan Tao the divine fruit is more likely based on the more common, round peaches we can find in the warmer parts of China. Because, if anything, Pan Tao is considered "big peaches" and flat peaches don't really fit that image. If you check any modern adaptation of JttW, their depiction of Pan Tao are always bigger versions of the common round peach.

In the logo, though, I did draw shapes that resemble flat peaches more than round peaches because I need to keep the headphones closer to the head. You can consider this a play on the mix-up of the two different Pan Tao.

③ Pine cone as mic.

Lin's mic does not look like this. Her mic is a tabletop model.

But again, we needed to keep all the shapes closer to the face otherwise the round shape cannot sustain. Wu Kong's years with Patriarch Pu Ti began with him eating pine cones outside his cave, and ended with him transforming into a pine tree for fun. So this is a convenient symbol to mark his earliest years.

Ninjago DR S2 Spoilers!!!

Ninjago dr s2 was soo good because it really reminded me of like the Oni Trilogy, which is my favorite group of seasons ever and i really appreciated the callbacks it made like in the Oni trilogy and OMG like it had really good animation and Cole is when hotter than before which i didn’t know could happen but it did and Galadrial??? Wizard lady? Yes please she’s so cool and her character design is mwah chef’s kiss and the Finders are so found family it hurts. Also theory for Fitz since he has a crow mask on his head and marking like Akira, he could be a forgotten formling? Which is pretty sad but maybe. Also the parallels between Lloyd and Arin and Wu and Morro???? Help??!? It is not good in my opinion that Lloyd is trying to be like Wu girlypop you do NOT want to be like him you know how his first student turned out and also apparently Arin learned Shatterspin??? Like the similarities between him and Cinder’s Shatterspins are ENDLESS. I also think that Arin has the FSM’s or Wu’s powers now bc he has golden powers and is ✨special ✨who else in Ninjago have we seen with golden colored powers? Wu and the FSM. Also WHERE IS PIXAL????? Tesla's Cybertruck has a serious problem that only a complete redesign

It’s official. The Cybertrucks coming out of Tesla’s Texas factory are bad. Bad, bad, bad with a capital Musk, as shown by the judgment of the X-kingpin himself. After taking a production candidate of this polygonal horror for a spin, Musk wrote an internal email to Tesla employees, revealing his concerns in categorical terms: “Due to the nature of Cybertruck, which is made of bright metal with mostly straight edges, any dimensional variation shows up like a sore thumb.” However, the real problem here is that these aesthetic troubles are rooted deep in the very nature of its design, which may make them extremely hard—if not impossible—to fix unless there is a complete redesign, as we foretold back in January.

Musk’s observation refers to the problems in the body of the Cybertruck, which include misaligned doors and uneven surfaces that make the car look wobbly, weird, and very unlike the clean angled renders Tesla has presented over the years. It’s a mess that underscores the inherent challenges of the Cybertruck’s unique design. As Adrian Clarke—a professional car designer who now writes design critiques for the automobile publication The Autopian—told me back then: “The Cybertruck is a low polygon joke that only exists in the fever dreams of Tesla fans that stands high on the smell of Elon Musk’s flatulences.”

The problem, according to Musk, is the bright metal construction and predominantly straight edges mean that even minor inconsistencies become glaringly obvious. To avoid this, he commanded unparalleled precision in the manufacturing process, stating in his email that “all parts for this vehicle, whether internal or from suppliers, need to be designed and built to sub 10 micron accuracy. That means all part dimensions need to be to the third decimal place in millimeters and tolerances need [to] be specified in single digit microns.” Drawing a comparison to everyday products known for their precision, Musk added, “If LEGO and soda cans, which are very low cost, can do this, so can we.”

Professor X believes that Tesla can attain such precision, but Clarke questioned the demand in an email he sent me today."

i've been in the same boat kinda. i've been like "oh what if i designed something custom to go with the official sets and ordered the parts from bricklink?" but it's hard to think of stuff that would take just the right amount of effort/money that doesn't also sound like something they'll probably have as an official set within a year

anyway, some things i'd like them to make, which could make for fun MOCs, include:

e-series robots, particularly gamma and omega. these would probably be tricky at minifig-ish scale though

Does the overlord and Lloyd have an early design or did you just ball it as it goes?

Both to be honest- I had a idea for them but I just throw something at the wall and looked at what fell down

When it came to drawing it, whatever I threw at the metaphor wall and fell down to the floor I made. But Lloyd had more designs than the overlord

The reasons is because he is a furry(he is trust me) and I didn’t know how to draw him so I gave him a human form

Into the Rift (spiderverse!pacific rim au)

so going into more detail because the actual drawings are coming along really slowly xD (i love drawing robots but coming up with original robot design hard)

The story would be essentially the same as the movies where a mysterious rift opens up in the bottom of the Pacific ocean releasing giant monsters. To combat them, the world governments join together for the good of humanity and create the Jaegers. Those are giant robots piloted by two people through a process called a 'drift'.

The only thing that changes is the characters and the story developed from that idea.

So the jaeger program is basically a stand in for the spider society and all the spiderfolk are pilots or staff. Everyone is also aged up 2 or 3 years to cover international military requirements and such.

and for the sake of the story having a 'pilot shortage' in which only the lucky few being able to actually pilot a jaeger, drifting is much harder and rarer. this leads to the program accepting younger applicants than they normally would. (eg. miles, pav, peni etc)

Miguel (34-35) is the stand in for the marshal. I'm not totally sure if he *is* the marshal or not? because he could absolutely just be the pilot manager or the mission overseer. but for now we shall stick with marshal. He primarily serves as the head of the department and representative for the pilot body. He also doubles as a pilot of a gen 1 jaeger (Blue Revenge*) with Peter B Parker, previously Jessica Drew.

Jessica (34-35) is Miguel's ex copilot. She served for two years and during a faux time of inactivity from the rift, she and her husband decided to try for a child. She was called back during the next attack but in the post-fight medical checks, she was ordered to go on maternity leave. She did, for a couple months, but very quickly felt frustrated that she wasn't helping. She moved back into the military base and instead took up a leadership position in combat training. I think her rank would be lieutenant but I don't know enough about the military to make that official.

Peter B Parker (42-43) is a retired pilot. He served as a pilot up until the gen 3 jaegers went into production and was sent home when he got a major back injury. During his time off he started a family in his old New York home and began to forget about the jaegers and the war. He chose to live in ignorant bliss until it all came back when he was summoned back. He brought his entire family, despite the many warnings, and has rather enjoyed his grand return. Currently copilots with Miguel in the Revenge*. Previously piloted the Crimson Core*.

Ben Reilly (24-25) is a jet pilot. Previously a jaeger pilot of the Scarlet Gutter that was decommissioned after it suffered extreme damage in a fight he took solo with a class 2 kaiju. His twin brother was his copilot and died early on in the fight. He currently pilots a fighter jet as backup. The impact of that fight still haunt him and everyone knows to leave him be.

LEGO Spiderman (24-25) and Peter Parkedcar (25-26) are two unrelated pilots that are drift compatible. LEGO Spiderman (Lee Godwin aka LE-GO for short) has a chronic condition with locking joints and Peter Parkedcar is a selective mute. They pilot the Titanium Wall that is essentially just an immovable object to the kaiju's unstoppable force. Yes this is a meme lineup. Laugh.

Peter Porker (31-32) is the head of research. He's john mulaney in all aspects except for occupation. He is more of the morale backbone of the entire operation and spends more time out of the lab making sure to bring a smile to everyone's faces. He wears a cute pig beanie when out and about. He always has candy on him and is famous in the kitchen for hot dogs. No one knows where he gets the hot dogs from, since those are rarely stocked. There's a rumor going around that it's kaiju meat, not beef. Absolutely fascinated kaiju and a biology fanatic.

Margo Kess (20-21) is the head of technology. She's the surveillance guy who takes orders directly from Miguel and is in charge of relaying commands and judging actions on the battlefield. She's a young college graduate- more accurately a child prodigy- and took the first opportunity she had to put her skills to the test. She's very friendly and will always get to know the pilots personally. Drift compatible but has avoided training to not have people learn about her strained home life.

Peni Parker (17-19) is the daughter of the head of engineering. She is just under the required age to actually assume the position but has the most knowledge on jaeger design of anyone else in the program aside from her father. Her father was killed when one of the outposts was destroyed in a kaiju attack. Parentless, the organization arranged for her to stay at the main base, waiting for her 21st birthday so she can acquire an actual rank. Had a personalized jaeger her father had been slowly building, fit for one person, that she's slowly been working on to one day pilot in combat.

Peter Benjamin Parker (Benji or Ben for short) (22-23) was hired as the strategy lead after his impressive work as a police/military investigator. Had a lot of experience with international crime networks and hand picked by Peter B. He was enthusiastically handed over to the Jaeger program after he got just a bit too close to some apocalypse-profiting corruption. No one really knows why, but he's taken more of a liking to pilot training and has shied away from Miguel's leadership team and more towards Jessica and the recruits. He has a good eye for cadets with amazing potential and even applied to be a pilot himself, stepping away almost entirely from any kind of leadership role. Pilots Silver Noir with Hobie(**).

Hobie Brown (20-22) is a pilot. He was recruited early on as one of Britain's undesirables and turned out drift compatible. He was assigned a jaeger that was built and sponsored by the British Government named the Union Jack. Disgusted, he refused to respond to that name and instead calls his jaeger the Stark Screamer. The name has been adopted by command and no one has bothered to correct it. His pilot quit for unknown reasons after only a year on the field and the Screamer was retired until they can find another pilot to partner with him. Has been paired with Benji for the time being.

Gwen Stacy (18-19) is the youngest pilot to date but more than capable of jaeger combat. She was brought in by Jess, despite her father's refusal, and skipped all cadet training except for the essentials and given a jaeger assignment almost immediately. She was picked out when her father, a military rep instead of a cop, was visiting one of the bases that Jess happened to be in. She showed incredible potential in [insert event that im not 100% sure about yet] and was incredibly interested. Originally paired with Hobie because of their similarity in hobby and age. Pavitr Prabhakar (17-18) is a cadet in training. He volunteered along with a large number of Indian civilians to chase the fame and glory that surrounded the now-martyred jaegers. Of the hundreds, he and a handful of his peers were selected and he was sent to his specific branch to complete training. He is drift compatible with almost anyone. Having no sense of fear or darkness in his past or his present, he's an incredible asset- if not a little naive. He and Hobie became best friends as soon as they met and has been promised to pilot the Screamer when he completes his training.

Miles Gonzalo Morales (17-18) is a new cadet starting training. He was supposed to be one in a pair but his twin was stuck in Spain with a travel complication. Miles could wait a couple months though and eagerly started training. He was selected because he had an identical twin- which are usually assumed to be drift compatible- but ended up being paired and drift compatible with Gwen. Despite him not having clearance, Gwen and many others think he shows enough potential to pilot a jaeger within the first month of his stay. He is currently assigned to a new jaeger in production: a gen 4 titan named the Clawed Viper***

Mateo Davis Morales (17-18) is a future cadet. He and his twin were split up before highschool for [insert reason i haven't figured out yet here] and he moved to Spain to finish his highschool education and eventually enlist in the jaeger program. However, due to transportation delays and possibly finances, when he and his twin were drafted, Mateo was stuck in Spain until nearly three months later. Just in time for . . . well, the drama (tm).

1. His race... honestly, I didn't think about it. He's a ninjago oc, his race is up to your interpretation. That's one of the reasons why I usually stick to the lego yellow skin colour when it comes to drawing lego characters. Also, giving him a race AFTER I made him might not be the best choice either. His design and story was based on nothing, but my imagination. I didn't use any references. If I wanted to make a character with a specific race and nationality in mind, I would do as much research as possible BEFORE designing them. I wouldn't want to be disrespectful towards any cultures, even if it's just an accident.

2. FENNEC FENNEC FENNEC!! He absolutely LOVES them! Also, desert rain frogs. Silly tiny squeaky fellas.

3. Ooohhh, he's an absolute sucker for old love songs! "Everybody Loves Somebody" and "The Way You Look Tonight" are probably his favourites. He loves to sing along with the songs while working on his lampwork projects.

4. He doesn't really watch TV. But one thing I can imagine is after Acronix returns from the time vortex and discovers modern technology, he forces Homuko and Krux to watch "How It's Made" with him, because he knows that they would actually like it. (This can also work as a headcanon for the twins, without my oc. This series is literally 32 seasons of autism, of course both of them would love it.)

5. They aren't, but they... pretend to be...?

After losing Acronix to the vortex, they didn't think about officially marrying. Even if they wouldn’t had a typical big ass wedding anyways, without Acronix, they rather not even thought about it altogether. And as for the "pretending" part: having a loving husband fits for the sweet and kind dr. Saunders persona.

11. I would LOVE to drop this part of his lore here, but I also want to write a whole ass oneshot about it and now I feel conflicted. Let's just say he did everything to protect Morro. He's a cinnamon roll as long as you aren't a threat to his kiddo.

12. Morro did meet Wu and everything that happened in canon, happened in this AU too. Except Morro dying in a cave, of course. Homu and Mo met shortly after the time twins' battle. As a way of coping with losing Acronix, Krux and Homuko decided to mediate. While Krux meditated at home, Homu was drawn to the desert. And after meditating (which also helped him remember some stuff about his early childhood, but that's just more random unimportant lore), Homuko met Morro. In the desert, yes. Morro was still obsessed with proving Wu wrong, they wanted to train themself in the most unforgiving parts of nature. Such as a desert. And when these two met, they were extremely confused (*insert spidermen pointing at each other meme*), because what would bring someone to a desert?

After a bunch of talking and venting (mainly from Mo), Homuko went home and they just followed him. Without him noticing. The next morning, when Homu left the house to go to his workshop, he met Morro again. You can imagine Homuko's dumbfounded face.

"Why would a random kid follow me home?" Because you were the first person who actually understood them and not just pretended. You didn't say "everyone experiences that" or "you're just overexaggerating". Of course they got attached immediately.

So basically it was Morro adopting Homuko as his father, and not the other way around lol
