Throwback to last year when Mike McDaniel did the Tongan Warrior Chant at Tua's Charity Luau 😂

According to Tua this was the moment Mike really started to earn his trust and respect. And according to Mike, when he saw Tua dancing so freely on stage later, that was when he started to see who Tua really was and love and admire the kind of spirit he has at heart. He said he wanted to see Tua be that free and happy and confident on the football field again, and that he would do everything possible to make that happen. I think he succeeded.

Beneath that nerdy accountant persona is not only the heart of a warrior, but the heart of a truly caring and empathetic man. Mike knows people. He knows what they need. He's a healer, and to me, that is his greatest quality.

The fact that Alicent surrounds herself with mentally unstable people, Cole and Larys, and is surprised when they act out, but continues to have them in her service. Also, despite seemingly being horrified, she did not turn Larys in for kinslaying and continued to have him as her ally. She benefitted from the death of Lyonel and Harwin by writing to her father and convincing him to return.

So her being privately upset at what Larys did doesn’t really mean anything if she doesn’t actually punish him and actually benefits from his crime. I would respect Alicent if she stopped with the holier than thou attitude and just owned up to the fact that she isn’t morally better than anyone else, and is willing to do whatever it takes to put her son on the throne. But since she doesn’t and still thinks she’s a better person than everyone, I hate her.

Sorry but she’s genuinely so infuriating. Her words inadvertedly got the father of Rhaenyra’s children (and her lover of 10 YEARS) killed and she’s harboring & protecting his killer and she STILL try to maim/murder Harwin’s son and look at Rhaenyra as if she’s the worst person in the world for... not raping her gay husband ?? I didn’t expect her to be friendly with Rhaenyra but Jesus Christ, a little humbleness would be nice.

I genuinely think that bk!Alicent would be similar in that she'd believe she was righteously getting the throne by any means for her sons. She also self victimizes at least twice in the record, once when she says Rhaenyra is too vengeful regarding her plan to kill Aemond and Alicent says "bastard blood she din war", the other time when she tasks her granddaughter to kill Aegon III. This is her expressing how righteous she believed herself to be, right towards her own death.

My problem with show!Alicent is that the show itself is unconsciously consciously making Alicent's abuse the motivation for us viewers to think how she thinks is truly correct, even though they will show Aemond and Aegon being much more violent and out of what little control she already didn't have over them. It's not so much that they are trying to say the greens were always the "good" guys or the protagonists so much that they are changing the female lead characters of canon (again, GRRM himself has described Rhaenyra as not like show!her) to reflect a reductive outlook on female nobles and how they try to obtain more power for themselves apart from their husbands and children by using the patriarchally given powers and privileges and what sort of access and influence they hold available to them. Alicent is much less intelligent, Rhaenyra much less defiant and self-focused. So we the audience witness these women as more...psychologically feeble than GRRM made them. Even with people pointing out the whole Rhaenyra wasn't as militaristically active or using mother's grief to take them out of this action that takes up the most spectacular parts of the Dance story. even with Rhaenyra of the show maybe being more "active", she still reads as psychologically tampered to me. Benevolent sexism on the writers' parts. Why can't women be fierce and or flawed, violent, etc. esp when part of it is a response to them not allowed the freedoms or privileges they are trying to obtain? It's further emphasized by both the inconsistencies, contradictions of characterization/dialouge, lore holes, AND how they tend to tack on actions, words, or traits at the last minute instead of developing these women they create...precisely because they didn't really think too hard about these women's motivations.

Alicent's and Rhaenys' "peacefulness-guide-violent-men" are both characterized as undebatable standards of morality when the situation they are in really doesn't call for it or allow it. So the whole "no war" business acts as an out-of-touch, condescending commentary the writers use to evaluate the moral characters of several characters' actions and push the responsibility of the war more on Rhaenyra than on most greens, too. How can we really look askance or hold the greens accountable when the show refuses to explore the many unprovoked sexist & homophobic and bastard-phobic comments each one makes BEFORE Luke's death? When Borros doesn't? When there is no Maris using Aemond's insecurity about his masculinity against him? They don't show what Rhaenyra/her family is up against, how it was never about "the realm's" safety or Rhaenyra's character but their own desire for power. Sure they'd be psychologically messed up by this proclivity for position/rule-following-above-personhood/love...that doesn't erase their power-seeking motivation being their top characterization either! Some say this is unrealistic of the bk!greens. I say, why? People are like this in the real world, and it'd be compounded by the greens being royals with 3 out of 4 male possible candidates in a monarchist feudal not-as-challenged patriarchal world!

Yes, they try to show how Alicent is hypocritical...but many times, they don't allow Daemon or Rhaenrya to directly challenge Alicent or Otto, like how in episode 3 Alicent says to Rhaenyra to not mind the politics of men...when Rhaenyra is heir...and these two are supposed to have been close enough friends for Alicent to supposed to have accepted that Rhaenyra's struggles with Aemma's state/her position/how Viserys treats her, etc. and not just dismiss them as her not removing herself from "man's business"...and Alicent at the same time saying Rhaenyra "must make the effort" to Viserys while she doesn't "make the effort" to let her supposed friend really try to confront her own detractors or think of ways to stifle their influence over Viserys. Much less acknowledge their threat.

So Alicent reads as more unpalatably, pathetic self righteous to people, instead of deliciously hypocritical. Because she's both shown to be so vulnerable and correct at times while the show switches up on us and shows her hypocrisies as if they are saying "see, we know who this woman is...but also, she's making some points".

No the actual text that Gyldayn writes is highly biased and probably ignores or definitely doesn't have critical information about certain events...but there is still the matter of this story having begun with a "disagreement" about the deserving of women's anger AND positions.

To be honest, figuring out that Maria is a bifauxnen archetype (or rather, remembering about it 3 years later after too-western-leaning discussions lol) felt soft of a relief? Keeping that in mind could have saved a lot of debates, and I do think that this take should be apparent since Bloodborne is a Japanese media! Can't analyze oversees media without applying oversees tropes and culture! So, her masculine aesthetic is not up to being questioned or written as practicality!

That one elusive bit that doesn't fall so apparent is the motivation. The thing about bifauxnen trope is that it is not consistent! There is execution where the masculinity is supposed to be rather involuntary, forced by another person or circumstances, and the character, in fact, struggles to reclaim her femininity after being led "astray" by some unfortunate events (like Lady Oscar). Then there are more blatant examples that are exactly what you want and expect from the trope, where femininity IS uncomfortable (like Utena)! I also talked with my friend who is familiar with far more Japanese media than I am, and according to her, Utena actually is a subversion of the trope, whereas "this lady had her natural femininity shunned by person or circumstances" is more common + that's the reason my friend DISlikes the trope. Can't attest to that statistic unless I play/watch everything she did, just something to notice 🤔

So yeah, that's the CORRECT interpretation branch I think! I wrote a separate analysis post on Cainhurst antics but the gist of it was, for a Vileblood woman it'd be a shame to not indulge in the bloody magic and antics as that's their 'natural' streak, so with this trope there would be skewing influence. Or other examples of the trope like "wanted son" or "she takes place of sickly/absent noble brother" that could play out. ...Or none could be the reasoning besides her preference, maybe even in spite of others (again, the 'blunt' variant of the trope does exist!)

There are various factors to decide from! I don't know, I just.. having the [HUMANITY RESTORED] moment over external validation for different interpretations, even though it should be a common sense. But also that there is something UNdebatable. I don't take "historical gender roles" flex for the setting where female doctors, scholars, hunters and vicars exist in 19th century of course, but I can't argue with "Japanese developers did a Japanese trope" pointer, and it just feels better to have more clarity, you know?

How much do we have to know about the Israel-Palestinian conflict to know the fact that killing innocent civilian is NOT JUSTIFIABLE. That bombing a hospital where hundreds and thousands of people have taken refuge is not JUSTIFIABLE. It's just undebatable.

Cementing rivers, cutting off food, Water electricity... is this right? In which book does it have to be written, whose validation do we need to speak up for these innocent people. To speak up for the children whose parents are killed right in front them. To speak up for those who saw their families being ruthlessly massacred and bombed.

It is not about supporting a particular religion or a country, it's about standing up for those innocent people who are killed for no apparent reason. It's about standing up against what's wrong. You knew they were taller and more intimidating but you hadn’t expected to see one made you think of the giant from Jack and the beanstalk.

You felt like a pixie next to the werewolf who claimed you were his luna, who claimed you were his mate. The difference in height was incredible, let alone the difference in sheer muscular size. Curtis was broad and thick, you were sure he was chiseled from marble, and he carried the undebatable strength of nearly three grown men.

Oh drat there was some series recently where I was like "I refuse this to be canon until it's undebatable", but maybe for a TV show or movie franchise– I can't recall at the moment. Usually in denial of the loss of yet another beloved character. My favorites always die 😭

In regards to Kirby canon in general, I do my best to integrate all things canon even if I'm like "eh" or not going to actively use it. I'm flexible and go with the flow if canon changes! All the lore additions from recent titles have only fueled my AU more and empowered my shenanigans LOL Especially since my AU is rooted in self-made lore, and therefore well self-contained, lore changes from the games won't affect me because I focus more on OCs in my main series

I can't think off the top of my head if there is any canon that I reject outright in Kirby

In fact I include things from non-canon such as the anime and specifically Soul Bosses because yummy extra lore (and Soul monsters are a frightening real thing in my AU, and extremely rare)

I use what's necessary to tell my story and don't worry about nitty gritty details 👌

Oh hmm, geeze— well for Magolor that used to be the fact that he has ears in contrast to horns (however once Crowned they do become horns, which is evident by his design!). They're so floppy and expressive! And well beyond Kirby's signature stretch and squash either, as is evident by his idle animations even in RTDL– to me they're very much ears, and it's a hill I will die on. Horns are stationary, ears are mobile to a limited degree

But now that it's been recently stated by devs that they're ears, I suppose that's not quite unpopular anymore! Or was it popular? I know there was some sort of debate with "horns vs ears" for some time, so perhaps it was fairly even?

BUT to be entirely honest? I think its two reasons: 1. features in men that are unattractive can be twisted to be attractive in women, 2. there's a lot more 'bad' men in media than 'bad' women. Stereotypically, if a man is a villain, the media will have a lot of options- mastermind, persuasive, cunning, incel, horribly cruel, abusive, antihero, list goes on. Women villain? Theres also the issue that some crimes committed by characters on this poll are seen as only commit-able by a man (and thus you will be hard pressed to find a woman doing them in media), but im not poking THAT hornets nest here.

Like lets give some examples. Grey Mann from tf2 is undebatably unsexy. The Adminsitrator is LITERALLY the same character but a woman (and maybe a little more unhinged), and yeah i know for a fact people would want her in some fashion. If the Onceler was a woman? it strikes me again how unbelievably fucked up it is that the mental health system considers me Beyond Their Help and thinks it's a me issue. when the fact that i'm like this in the first place is in no small part Their Fault.

yeah sure we can blame the abusers first and foremost. that's undebatable. but when mental health services knew, and documented, what was going on, put it in writing that i'd never get better if i continued being actively abused, and didn't do anything about it... they're at fault too. it's strewn throughout my records and yet i still took the blame for being mentally ill.

OT/CPS are worse to blame because there's 10+ years of mandated reporters REPORTING IT. at one point they said they talked to me and i was fine with being hit so they closed the case. i was 10 and the person who was hitting me in that case choked me against a wall when i was 15 and threatened to put a bullet through my brain. beat the crap out of me so many times i couldn't pick out anything special because they all blurred together. by that age though the narrative that i was just Bad had really taken hold and anything i said was taken as something i had instigated.

my mother made a post recently crying that the "past is in the past" but how can it ever be in the past for me? i think she messed me up more and she beat my ass far less than the others, because she just looked away, walked away, closed her eyes. sure she did also get physical with me. literally the last time i saw her she threatened to bash my head in with a hammer. but that was somewhat unusual because she deals more in Fucked Up Emotional Bullshit.

literally failed at every step of the way possible. "why don't you just tell someone?" this is why! this is why!!! how are you meant to tell anyone when they look away and blame it on You being Mentally Ill because to them, being severely mentally ill makes beating a child/teenager reasonable, because i was simply such a nightmare for those around me to deal with so of course they'd resort to that.

I’m a runner. Can confirm that personal trainer and coach advise us not to go vegan due to minimal intake of iron, protein, and nutritional needs with vegan foods. We can eat lots of plat-based proteins with iron filled meats to balance everything out. Sonic being vegan would only endanger his health.

Fact is, the elements necessary for health can only be found efficiently and cheaply in meat. The human digestive tract is not designed to garner maximum nourishment from plants, the bioavailability of vital nutrients is far, far higher in animal products than it is in plant products. In addition, animals such as Cats are obligate carnivores and inarguably, undebateably require meat to live. Meat contains taurine and proteins that felines are dependent on that can't be found in any other source and they have the digestive tract of an obligate carnivore. This is why Vegans with an agenda should have their animals taken from them when they impose their ideology on them and cruelty and neglect charges filed against them if the animal has come to harm because of their agenda.
