I'm on ep 3 of Ready Set Love and this shit is wild. I thought I was signing up for a cheeky romcom set in a dating show trope and instead I've got dystopian commentary that has me thinking about the world building.
Like if the few surviving/born men only get to marry through this dating show, how are all the other family's "born" like Day and her sister?? The world looks seemingly populated with poverty stricken women, but they have to be born too. Is this ever explained??? Lmao

so on the subject of the "Crowley is secretly Revaan/Laverne/Levin/please Twst give us his name" theory, I think my feelings are best summed up as "I don't really buy it, but it's funny". like, in all seriousness, I'm not opposed to it; I have enjoyed the writing in Twst so far and I'm willing to trust that whatever happens will, you know, make sense and not be terrible. but I'm just not really convinced by the current evidence! maybe that'll change once we learn more, we'll see!
with that said, may I propose a few alternate theories about the possible Crowley/Revaan connection:

All of those plus a Hyrule :) pleased with this little style experimentation! I’ve come quite far since last year’s mermay, I think. I see those Shatterproof suggestions and am currently debating how on earth to draw some of that, ha.

I know I made a comment about M9 animated series and that if there's new Essek content I'm not going to be normal about it, but if Essek actually shows up in C3 in the next bit here (if BH need to go to Aeor and M9 have found their way to the centralized allies camp with Keyleth, best tour guides would be Caleb or Essek, the chances are small but do exist) I am absolutely not going to be normal about that either. You're all in danger

So when Aziraphale and Crowley switch and they get ice creams, Crowley ends up with a vanilla cone with a flake and Aziraphale gets a red popsicle(I don’t know what it’s called in other places sorry). Why?
I would like to propose that it doesn’t matter who gets what, because Aziraphale orders both. Crowley gets whatever Aziraphale wants, because he’s going to give it to him anyway. In the book, there’s a similar situation with Angels food cake. Crowley orders it then eats a bite and gives it to Aziraphale. If both of the ice creams are for Aziraphale, then he mostly gave Crowley the vanilla cone w/ a flake for aesthetics

Holy crap a parallel of this scene is looking so real to me:
YOU’RE TELLING ME. THAT WILL AND MIKE. ARE GOING TO BE OUT IN A FIELD. AT SUNSET. POSSIBLY ALONE. ONE OF THEM WITH A SHOVEL.
One may worry about something visably and the other notices (like in the desert scene)? One of them may just stop to gayly glance or stare at the other?
Something about them burying something in the desert scene. Mike putting in a lot more effort while Will barely does anything at all. Maybe, just maybe, in this s5 scene, we’ll see them digging something up together instead. Something about metaphors for feelings and the truth… if you catch my drift.
Oh I may not make it. Eating glass as we speak. Tumbling off a cliff right now.

Have you heard of the "Crowley is Malleus' dad" theory going around? Where Prince Levan (or whatever his name is) didn't actually die and just went out to get some milk and is now known as Dire Crowley, the silly man? The implications of that theory is absolutely hilarious when you think about it
hold on, we can figure this out, we just need LISTS
PROS THAT CROWLEY IS SECRETLY REVAAN/LEVAN/LAVERNE/WHATEVER:
unspecified fae of some kind, with similar coloring to Mal
the animal masks are apparently a Briar Valley thing
has some kind of big blackmailable secret that was alluded to in episode 4, and then as far as I know never brought up again
(unless this was just Azul bullshitting, which is extremely possible)
based on Diablo, which...maybe means something?
has canonically worn Dad Shorts
CONS:
(gestures to Crowley's entire personality)
NO LISTEN Revaan was the guy they sent off on diplomatic missions and to take care of delicate political situations, and...look, I love this dweeb, but would you trust Crowley to be in charge of negotiating your war treaties
despite my brain insisting on reading his name as "Raven", Revaan's title does imply that he was also a dragon (or super into longan berries, I'm not ruling that out)
currently unclear why Lilia "my closest friend Revaan...he is no longer with us...I used to make fun of him for being kind of a priss about eating jerky..." Vanrouge has somehow not noticed or said anything
Malleus' Aloof Anime ~Aristocrat~ vibe had to come from somewhere, and by all accounts it was NOT his mom's side of the family
???:
turns into a bird in the opening, I don't know if that means anything but it's kinda cool, I guess
all that aside, if Malleus and Yuu are any indication, then the Draconias have...questionable taste in their social choices. so anything is possible!

showing off the commission i got from @ruporas for my fic, In the Next Life!
i'm still so incredibly excited about this. it's been some months since the story event that caused these scars, but i wanted SO BADLY to be able to see what they'd actually Look like... & Here They Are.
ruporas rendered the scars So Well, i just cant stop Looking at them... there's a Fresh & a Healed version, which ruporas was kind enough to give me without additional charge (Thank U Again😭😭) so i get to see what it looks like at different stages.
Lichtenberg Figures. in terms of actual scarring, lightning strikes that people survive don't tend to leave permanent scars, but the lichtenberg figures that they (usually temporarily) leave behind are just So Cool... Now, what happens when you get someone who can survive an amount of electricity/lightning that would be Frankly Lethal to any normal human person?
This :]

If I'm being honest, I actually think I would prefer to see Tommy NOT become the boyfriend. I really like the idea of the two of them dating a bit, and Tommy helping Buck to explore a little, but I think it would be much more interesting if Buck doesn't immediately jump into a more serious relationship with him. Allowing Buck to explore more casually as he starts to figure himself out just feels a little more meaningful here. He's always so quick to jump into relationships. I'd rather see him really take his time and let himself have some fun. And absolutely, Tommy can be a major part of that. But so much of the speculation around them feels like it frames him as the boyfriend, but I don't know that that's what Buck needs from him, to be honest.

Something I’ve been stewing on for a handful of months now has been wanting to make birgs’ reproductive cycles weirder. My friend @primalmuckygoop suggested the fantastic idea of giving them “external wombs” or “eggs with legs”, and the result was…. These.
Essentially an overgrown tick that contains within itself the actual embryonic birg. Like a tick, it latches on to the host (typically the mother or a relative, but they can be attached to ‘midwife’ animals as well) and feeds on blood until the infant birg is ready to emerge.
This is by no means the only reproductive strategy seen in birgworld fauna; for some animals the process is mostly or entirely internalized, for others the “larva” exists as an independent creature as distinct from its parent as feathervanes from their walking seeds.
The fun begins when you consider the cultural implications of such a life cycle, from folklore about witches and vampires to ingrained concepts of “cuteness”, but I’ll save that for future posts…..
