Catwoman's Love Interests, Ranked
No. 1. Batman. Predictable? Perhaps. Correct choice? Absolutely. They work purrfectly together. I may roll around to write a similar post for Bruce, but from Selina's perspective, he is an equal to her, values her independence, and helps her believe in herself.
(From the double date in Batman (2016) # 37, where Lois is wearing Selina's outfit)
No. 2-10. Selina herself. She is independent! But seriously, one of the things I loved the most from her 90s run was how not romance-focused she was! It was a lot of fun and refreshing to see female main character just not give a fuuuuck about romance.
(Look at her, just slapping this creep away as a squirrel laughs at him! From Catwoman (1993) #30).
No. 11. Christopher Castillo "Blondie". From Selina's adventures in Rome, the Blond was enamoured, charming, and helpful. Also, it wasn't clear if the attraction was truly reciprocal, or if Selina just got a fun vacation boy toy.
(Catwoman, When in Rome #6)
No. 12 Dean Hadley. I am not sure he really qualifies as a love interest, since I don't think that Selina was into him, but at least he died heroically trying to protect her.
(Can't compete with Batman, dies tragically, from Catwoman (2018) # 34)
No. 13 to 20. Selina on her own some more! Can't get enough of this girl on her own! Love the storyline where she unknowingly has a crush on a serial killer in a dog mask. You know what she did when she found out the truth about her crush? That's right, clawed the shit out of him!
(Catwoman (1993) #53. I think this storyline counts as her loving herself than being into this guy - she barely had any qualms about dumping him once she found out; none of that "but maybe I can fix him" for this cat!)
No. 21. The Riddler. Shocking choice, I know! But I'm thinking here of the Lonely City version - Batman is dead, time has passed, he made amends, they found each other. Doesn't work in other continuities, was fun here.
(Catwoman: Lonely City #3. The reveal that Eddie was a coke addict makes SO.MUCH.SENSE).
No. 22. James Thien. I guess he was fine. I didn't like it because her interest into him was really jarring - this was during the post-wedding break-up period when Selina was generally falling apart. But James was neither fish nor fowl. There wasn't enough development for her to be genuinely interested in him, and her interest was portrayed more like genuine interest than a random hook-up.
(Literally, I think that this is all the development there is! And then I don't remember what happened to him. Maybe he also died? That kind of seems to happen to her love interests a lot. Catwoman (2018) #12)
Nos. 22-90. Selina on her own some more! And Eiko. And others. Never enough of Selina being on her own! I also think that Eiko goes somewhere here probably, if not in my earlier "Selina on her own spot" - I just haven't read the New 52 run so I dunno. Other possible contenders in this range:
Onyx (but I don't think they had enough development)
The Trickster (Reddit tells me he's a Catwoman love interest but I don't remember it so it must have been neither good nor bad)
Spark (also new 52, so I dunno).
OK, this is where we get to bottom of the barrel, where unfortunately most other folks are. BTW, what's up with Selina having so many relationships with older mentor figures?
No. 91. Frank Baz. Some mafioso with whom Selina was hanging out in Italy. Ranked so low since he seems like a bad guy, there was a big age difference with her being really young, and he didn't do that much.
No. 91. Slam Bradley Sr. I think that Brubaker did a decent job making the romance between Selina and Slam Sr. work. I like how the run addressed how messy this relationship was, and how Slam was kind of preying on Selina's vulnerable emotional state. (Slam shouldn't have won that argument, but at least it was raised!) But unfortunately this is ranked so low since Slam becomes kind of a chump later on in the run and Selina's relationship with his son makes this very creepy.
(From Catwoman (2001) #17. Their relationship was actually pretty good in the beginning, but quickly got icky...)
No. 92. Wildcat/Ted Grant. I really like the backstory of Selina learning boxing from Wildcat. It's a sweet little bit setting up her eventual super-heroics, plus, Wildcat is awesome! He's a grumpy old man who is respected by everyone, even Batman (whom he also trained). Which is why I hated when Wildcat/Catwoman wrote her to have a crush on him. Gross! Did I mention that he's old?
(Catwoman/Wildcat #3. The art in this book is really 90s)
No. 92. Slam Bradley Jr. I totally get that hot people in costumes would have one night stands on rooftops after adrenaline rush situations. And the poor guy died right after sleeping with Selina! Nonetheless, ranked so low because it's sooo weird since she slept with his dad - which I think he knew - plus I'm pretty sure that their relationship started really antagonistic. Principles before hoes, bro! Also, not his fault but I don't like how he messed up Helena's paternity story some more.
(Catwoman (2001) #61. No idea why Selina tells the dad the story about how she banged his son?)
No. 93. Cat cult person who kidnapped Selina, dressed her up as princess Leia, and tried to marry her. Forgot this dude's name. Considering the stuff he did, he was a pretty nice dude. But - the stuff he did is pretty despicable!
(Catwoman #31. I really hated this storyline, so I feel like he should be lower, but I also really hated Stark and Valmont, so where can it go? Also not sure that kidnapping and forced marriage qualifies as a "love interest"; may rethink including him altogether but I also wanted to emphasize how much I don't like Stark or Valmont).
No. 94. Stark. Criminal who took Selina under his wing when she was still an underage sex worker, and slept with her. He's also a murderer. Pretty gross person overall, really creepy relationship.
(Selina's Big Score)
No. 95. Valmont. I really hate Valmont, OK? I wrote a whole giant post already about how much I hate him!

Sr. Blandina (Maria Rosa) Segale
Servant of God
1850-1941
Sister Blandina brought the Catholic faith to the American frontier. Born in Italy, her family emigrated to the U.S. when she was 4 yrs. old. She joined St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Sisters of Charity and was soon assigned to work in Colorado and later in New Mexico. Teaching was her main work but she also started orphanages and hospitals. Living in the lawless West, she disarmed gunfighters, lynch mobs and bandits (Billy the Kid) with her kindness. Sister returned to Cincinnati in 1894 to work with the poor Italian immigrants. She died of natural causes at 91 years old.

Clothing listings up on Etsy
At long last... I've begun to list some of the things I made when I first got the idea to produce fashion accessories for the Renaissance set. These are all single items, prototypes of different kinds.
Gold Amber Hairnet, $40 CAD: A classy way to bundle your hair up or produce the illusion that you have some in the first place. Infuriate dead 16th century clerics with your vanity and pride in worldly display instead of covering your head in sober modesty!
Velvet Renaissance hat, $50 CAD: This style is called the "Italian Bonnet" and shows up in portraiture all over Europe... except Italy. It's a nice hat, though it fits high on the head instead of sticking snugly because Fashion. But I'm still stuck going??? Why??? (Note: Blue feather not included.)
Next up, garb that I've thoroughly test-driven myself:
Yellow Italian Renaissance dress ($150): A linen dress from the 1990s I got secondhand and dyed and decorated, inspired by the working-class women in the paintings of Vicenzo Campi and woodcuts of peasant folk dress of Tuscany and Milan. Normally fits a US 8/10, but is pictured here fitting a US 14. Skirt is for a short person, 36"/91 cm long
Decorated red apron ($50): Pure linen apron and recycled cotton waist tie, decorated with hand-stencilled fabric paint. A more affordable emulation of the elaborately embroidered 16th century apron in The Met Museum's collections.
Gold Fleur de Lis veil ($50): Oval-shaped, a couple centuries earlier than the other items. ABSOLUTELY guaranteed to enrage dead priests, see above. That's all I can say about it because I am being dragged away from the computer to go to my niece's dance recital by someone who will ruthlessly hit "post" for me. Message me if you have any questions!

✨Weekly Tag Wednesday✨
Thanks @energievie for the amazing and random questions (and tag) this week. And thanks @suzy-queued @mybrainismelted for the tags!
Name: Jess
Age: A Nosho and a half
Location: Toronto, 🇨🇦
And now...
What is your DJ name? Having had no idea wtf to answer here I turned to the always faithful internet quiz. So I present: DJ BoomKitty 😅 yikes...
If you were a genre of music, what would it be? Folk/alternative with the occasional pop indie jam
What would you title your biography? "Good Fucking Grief, Why?"
What are the first three things you'd do if you were invisible? Maybe sneak on a plane to somewhere tropical and live out my days on a beach switching between empty hotel rooms and lounging by a pool
What subject do you wish was taught in every school? Useful math like taxes. Social relationships. Dealing with anxiety.
When was the last time you tried something for the first time and what was it? Ummmm.... I've had to start gardening for the first time this spring and it takes a forever and I'm afraid to kill everything. Also weeds are horrible.
What is the most underrated city you have ever visited? Ferrara, Italy. So cute. When I was there (a decade ago) all the residents went into the square on Friday night and shop and have drinks.
What day in your life would you like to relive? A day cycling with my Dad
If you could eliminate one thing from your daily routine, what would it be and why? Cleaning the house. Blech.
How long would you last in a zombie apocalypse? 91 days. Exactly. 'Cause I'm blind as a motherfucka and I'd have that 90 day contact pack and then I'd be totally fucked. You know those glasses are gonna get stepped on immediately. Yes ... I have thought about this a lot. Almost legally blind problems.
What would be the most surprising scientific discovery imaginable? So many. Other habitable planets? Regenerable healthy food that doesn't taste bad. Easy space flight. Brain broken... too many things.. 🫠
If you could have any view out your office window, what would you choose? I want to say the ocean maybe? But also a garden with a bunch of cats in it would be pretty cool

20 Questions for Fic Writers
thank you for the tag @palettesofrenaissance <3
1. How many works do you have on ao3? 91 (with 8 of those posted anonymously and 26 current hidden).
2. What's your total ao3 word count? 316,689
3. What fandoms do you write for? i currently write for marvel and good omens. previously i have written for doctor who, hannibal, harry potter, hetalia, interview with the vampire, les misérables, and the walking dead (occasionally i dip back into writing those). and some other one-off fics for other fandoms.
4. Top five fics by kudos:
quips and endearments (t, 1.6k) aragorn and legolas flirt to keep morale up
acts of service (t, 4k) aziraphale falls
nothing but theatre (e, ongoing) bucky/zemo fake dating and time travel au
behind the make-up (t, 1k) the grandmaster exposes loki's mouth scars
hannibal, it's tinsel (g, <1k) hannibal/will fluffy hissy fits over xmas decs
5. Do you respond to comments? i like to and try to but i've got behind on it lately. i need to catch up.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? angst is my thing so most of my fics end angstily. maybe either:
uncovered secrets (e, 5k) bucky recognises heinrich in one of zemo's family photos
lithium (e, 3k) zemo's first look at the latvian apartment since his family's death
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? definitely this, it's very hopeful for the future: falling leaves and apple pulp (g, <1k) bucky and sarah go apple picking
8. Do you get hate on fics? i used to but not so much anymore. i've had a couple of hate anons on here related to fics though.
9. Do you write smut? yes, occasionally but i'm not very good at it.
10. Craziest crossover: i haven't really done many crossovers but i mix adaptions a lot.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? i had a couple stolen off deviantart and ff.net back in the day but nothing off ao3 that i'm aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? no but i had one of my anonymously posted fics podfic'd, so that was nice.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? i'd say so, yes, because even though it wasn't a back and forth thing some of the babes from the winterbaron discord have plotted and contributed so heavily to fics that i refuse to take full credit. also me and @palettesofrenaissance are going to be co-writing something soon so that's exciting!
14. All time favorite ship? usually i would usually say peggy/steve from mcu because i've loved them fiercely since 2011. but i'm going to say england/spain from hetalia because i'm feeling nostalgic at the moment and i always fall back into writing fic for them when i'm feeling particularly stressed or down.
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? i don't often write multi-chapter fics so only have one wip currently up. it would be good to get that finished, since i'm only 1 chapter away from an epilogue.
16. What are your writing strengths? angst. character studies and introspection. oneshots. i've been told i'm good at setting the tone and atmosphere, and i keep getting comments saying i'm good at conveying emotion, which makes me insanely happy.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? worldbuilding in general. multi-chapter fics. spelling and grammar. knowing how to end fics. smut. i'm also very quick to get discouraged and abandon fics all together.
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language? i love it. other languages are often so beautiful and i like looking up commonly used phrases and contexts for how they are used. i've used other languages in most of my mcu fics.
19. First fandom you wrote in? i have hazy memories of this but i think it was twilight, where instead of going to italy to save edward, she and alice got together instead. i stand by 15 year old me's taste in ship. the first fic i posted online was for hetalia though, the twilight one stayed in a notepad.
20. Favorite fic you've written? i couldn't just pick one so:
the last of fine days (m, 15k) zemo's old family home plays tricks on their minds -> my first attempt at gothic domestic/horror and i'm proud of it.
migraine aura (m, 5k) aziraphale and crowley are exes stuck together at a party -> i wanted to write the most claustrophobic, overstimulating environment i could and i think i succeeded.
no pressure tagging, in case any of you felt like it: @zsparz, @milarca, @zemos-bathrobe, @fuddlewuddle, @yolkinthejump, @captainjimothycarter
