About Phoenix's parents
So all we know is that he has a mother, but honestly from this dialogue it is impossible to understand what kind of relationship he has with her and whether she is alive. He could have just said it just because its first thing to came to his mind. We can't be sure that she even exists in my opinion. Also, this is an old episode(2-2), and we don't know what happened to her at the time of the aj trilogy (about 10 years later)
there is 4koma which although not canon but jokes about Phoenix's parents.
Maybe he is an orphan?
(source, translation by turnaboutarchives)
In episode 13 of season 1 of the anime, you can see a woman in the background who is probably Phoenix's mother, however the anime is not canon either. And we don't see her face or Phoenix's father.
side note: little Nick is so cute, especially in the christmas photo. he probably got a new Signal Blue toy
Personally, I liked imagining Phoenix's parents being good people because I am tired of seeing almost every character in the series have either asshole or dead parents(if i remember correctly, the only character with living and normal parents is Wocky Kitaki). I like to imagine one of them as an artist and the other as an actor (a reference to Phoenix being an art student and what the devs thought about his career if he hadn't become a lawyer). However, this does not explain why we do not see them when, for example, their son becomes a defendant in a murder case (many times) or when he ends up in the hospital (also many times). Trucy never mentions her grandparents either.
So I'm interested to hear your headcanons and theories about this
also sorry if I'm confusing or forgot something

Actually I lied earlier. My biggest complaint about the finale is that it felt more like a Punisher episode than a Daredevil episode and that's not a compliment.
It felt more like a Punisher episode because most of the action in the episode was focused on Frank, even the fight that had Daredevil in it. And I get that part of the reason was that Matt was injured but he WAS fighting in that scene. And then Matt was off finding the documents with Karen for a large part of the second half and felt decentralized from the story.
And what that meant was that for the most part the action was very Punisher-style action. And I mean that in a very derogatory way.
Frank Castle only works for me as a character in Daredevil season 2.* The reason he works there is that the show has a very clear line drawn. It says we sympathize with Frank, we even like Frank, but what he does as the Punisher is wrong. Matt puts him in jail for it and that is portrayed as a victory. Now, he later gets out, and Daredevil teams up with him, but he does so while still managing to curb at least some of Frank's violence, and if I'm remembering correctly we end the season with Matt believing Frank is dead. And the season maintains throughout that Punisher is over the line. It toys with how similar Daredevil is to Punisher and it works because there is the understanding that for Daredevil to be like Punisher would be bad.
This episode on the other hand seemed to want to have its cake and eat it too more than DD2 did. Because we do have Matt coming back from that fall at the beginning of the season, saving Fisk's life, getting between Frank and the cop. And that's all good. But then at the same time it frames it in such way that we're supposed to cheer when Frank guns down a bunch of people. (AND we have Matt choosing not to kill the cop, only to have the show kill him anyway with a grenade ten seconds later.) And I don't want that, I don't like it, and I do think the violence crosses the line. (It's exceptionally weird tone for them to take when the same episode clearly establishes that some of people aligning with Fisk are doing so only because they are afraid and think they have no choice. That doesn't excuse them for what they're doing but it does make it weird to have a "look how cool Punisher is as he shoots them in the face" moment, especially following an episode where Matt is so committed to not killing that he takes a bullet for Fisk.)
And again, it's both that that kind of action is not something I want to watch (its gratuitous and also kind of boring) and that it is in direct conflict with the themes and character arcs the show is trying to develop.
And then to top it all off you had the scene with Fisk killing the commissioner which was awful and I hated it, and the netflix show (for the most part) grew out of doing stuff like that after season 1, so it was regrettable to watch them move backwards like that.
*I do enjoy all of the conversation scenes with Frank this season. Especially the one from earlier when he talked with Matt about Foggy. He's an interesting ideological foil for Matt (I think MORE interesting than Fisk) but I think they get indulgent with his action scenes and start celebrating elsewhere the show is clearly against.

Pathologic VN/DateSim - Burakovsky and Stamatins
I think I need to share some thoughts on those routes cause even though for Daniil my favourite route is and will be Block's I tried the other two. It's not that "painful" to say "no" to Alexander although... yeah. And in case of Artemy - sorry, but Rubiruspex is the one and only option for me, I physically can't chose someone else but Stakh.
Basic info about the project - click me.
Note: English translation of the game is made by a group of enthusiasts and not by game devs, as far as I know. Day 4 is not translated. So I think you can try to contact dev team (see the original post with links, the link to it is at the beginning of this post) and ask them about those enthusiasts if you wish to help this project to be know amongst English speaking fans of Pathologic.
So, let's start with classics - Burakovsky/Burda WARNING! Spoilers below.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Basically, it is what it is, what you can expect from this romance: Cub (or Bear in Russian, I prefer this term more) is warm, caring, simple guy, he is honest (well, you know who he is), single father of two which is, of course, used in this route. It's pretty cozy story: for example, when you see interaction of Daniil and Murky you feel they can become great family, he reads a book for her making up a story (since the book in written in Steppe language) - the man has a great fantasy, I must say.
On Day 1, if I remember correctly, Daniil finds an amulet which looks different from those he saw during the plague days. He tries to give it to Artemy but he refuses cause "it arrived to your hands" and Daniil is searching for the meaning of this amulet. Turns out the amulet is a "love confession" (Sticky tells about its true meaning), so Daniil gives it to Artemy on Day 4 again now knowing what this will mean and knowing what he feels towards Burakh (they have a very sweet dance scene). But the Haruspex refuses to accept it again saying they need to wait until Tailagan (some steppe holiday which will take place on Day 5) and then if Daniil offers it again Artemy accepts it. So... I think technically they will marry each other. =)
I liked that route even though Burda is not my No1 ship but it's very very warm.
So, and now the twins.
I would say at some point I like it more than Artemy's route. Maybe because interaction with Peter was emotionally stronger in my taste. Let's just say it have some prons and cons to me personally.
General information: twins "scream" "sex drugs and rock-n-roll". Well, mostly "sex" considering the writers decided to portrait their story with Farkhad as a story of three lovers, plus twins also sleep with each other (I am neautral towards it, I've seen beautiful pieces of art with Andrey and Peter being together and I just think it's an obvious thing which can be used in their situation. But in my fanfic I wrote them without this feature, to me they are brothers and that's it but enought about me).
Pros: as I said above, the scene with Peter on Day 4 (and I personally feel more love towards him. Sorry, Andrey, I love you too but...). Daniil and Peter draw together and use it as a therapy to release their pain and struggle (mostly towards the loss of Polyhedron), to put them out of their hearts and heads on a paper. Very enotional episode.
Cons: I don't really like how Andrey acts towards Peter sometimes, it feels like he, the elder brother, is depending on Peter, not vise versa. He finishes Peter's phrases, he tries too hard to be with him. At the same time when we talk to Peter, he tells us he wanted to be more independent at the beginning of his career. So... this relationships looks a bit painful for both of them. And another thing which I didn't like (but it can be treated as a "historical accurate" detail): at the end of Day 4 when three agreed to have sex together (which will happen on Day 5, I'm sure) Daniil offers to bring morphine with him. Why is it historically accurate? At the beginning of XX century many medical doctors were taking morphine, so technically Daniil could be one of them. Still, thankfully, Andrey refused - they already have too much of an alcohole.
But in any case, let us wait for Day 5.

You ask for fandom questions, Questions like THESE??? :DDD :
How in the world did you end up in this little football fandom of ours?
The youngest memory you have of Supa Strikas?
What character do you wish we could have more of?
Out of any background character from Supa Strikas, which one do you wish would come back as a recurring character more?
Any ships you ship??? (Platonic can also apply)
Most important question (sorta) for any Supa fan, which team from the Supa Strikas Universe you would play for? And why?
TYSM!
1) How in the world did you end up in this little football fandom of ours?
I knew Supa Strikas as early as 2011; I started watching it around Season 2. I just didn't expect that it'd have a fandom here on Tumblr bec I admit that it's not as mainstream as Star Wars, LOTR, or Harry Potter, so seeing everyone here was truly a surprise.
And to answer the question what brought me here only now? Early in July 2024, I decided I want to franchise a Caltex.
Because I remember they sponsored the Southeast Asian release of Supa Strikas (I'm not sure if I got the details correctly) and I love the show so much that whenever I see a Caltex, I remember the show. And I got the idea of franchising it because there's this one Caltex in my home town that is very beautiful and everytime I go past it, I always whisper "I'll build one that's prettier."
2) The youngest memory you have of Supa Strikas.
Okay, this is somewhere around 2009-2010, I was ten years old. It was the very first time I saw the commercial of Supa Strikas on Disney Channel. Me, my sister, and my uncle all commented on the Caltex logo on their jerseys.
The first time, I saw the actual show, I wasn't interested. Then, my uncle's son (my cousin) love football so much that he started to watch the show. At some point, my sister and I joined watched one episode with him (I think this was Led Steppin) and found out that the show was so good.
Then I have another early memory, I go back to it a lot because of the choice I had to make. Back then, we didn't have the convenience a streaming site offers so when two shows or movies air at the same time, we had to choose one. My sister and I watch Supa Strikas on its late night encore because we can't find the time to watch it during daytime, and while waiting for it, we switched the TV to HBO and it was The Lovely Bones. We decided to watch it while waiting for SS, then it got so interesting we almost forgot to switch back to Disney. But before switching, we both stopped to decide. My sister asked, "Do we continue the movie and skip Supa Strikas tonight?" And I really did spent a moment to think, but my answer was, "Nah, I won't ever sacrifice Supa Strikas for this." The episode was Dancing Rasta on Ice.
3) What character do you wish we could have more of?
This is a fun question because I've been thinking about this lately: since we already had Rookie Season why not try to make another prequel series where it was the era of Coach and everyone else? Remember that one episode they entered a game where they played against the greats? I'd love to have a spin-off about their era.
4) Out of any background character from Supa Strikas, which one do you think should come back as a recurring character more?
Kat. Because I'm gay for Kat.
5) Any ships you ship?
Shakes x Riano. Platonic or no, I love them sm.
6) For any Supa fan, which team from the Supa Strikas Universe would you play for? And why?
Barka. Because there is nothing more I want than to be meters away from Riano.
Or I could also play for Nakama. So I can be close to Miko.
*squints eyes* Hmmm I'm seeing a pattern here.
And this is the only Ask I'm going to answer for now because I honestly haven't seen Rookie Season yet. It's like since I knew Shakes and Skarra used to be friends and parted ways as early as 2011 (meaning for more that half my lifetime), I kinda think Rookie Season is something I'm not yet ready to unpack.
So, thank you @mimpinightmare for granting this little request of mine, and would it be okay to borrow this question and ask this around?

Not So Quick Rory McCann movie vent/review
Spoilers below for those who want to watch The Damned. Truly, this will be long, so be warned. more of a vent session
I just got back from the movies and saw The Damned. Ever since I rekindled my celeb crush on Rory McCann, I'd been keeping track of his new projects. One I came across was this movie. He was highly billed in the cast, though it was a small cast. The trailer was also pretty compelling in and of itself and properly set the tone as a horror film.
At the end of the day, I am a horror fan, so I enjoyed the film and think its worth the watch. I got lucky because it has a minor release and only one theater in my city offered to show it.
The venting part is just me being disappointed in how little I'm seeing Rory lately and, more specifically, in this movie. That's it. I suspected that his character would get killed off at least half way through the film because, as mentioned, the cast is small so scenes throughout the trailer featured the entire cast except Rory's. His character Ragnar was only featured in the first 1/3 of the trailer. Trailers are a short summary of a film. I was thinking that, with him being such a noticeable person, there's no way he's not featured in the entire trailer unless he is actually not that important of a character or he died. With the cast being about a dozen people, I wagered that Ragnar died, to which I was correct. What I didn't suspect to happen would be that he'd die within the first 15 min. Usually characters that don't last that long in movies aren't even featured in trailers, but again, since the cast was small and he's more well known than most of the cast, it'd make sense that he was in it.
I went into the movie for more than just Rory, but lets be real, as a fangirl on Tumblr, I predominantly went for him. Luckily, the movie was pretty decent (It was really good, in my opinion except for the ending), so the initial disappointment of knowing he wouldn't be on screen anymore eventually dissipated. I will say that there were silhouettes or ambiguous (but obviously male) figures towards the end of the film that were supposed to be this supernatural creature in Icelandic and Nordic folklore that resembled his stature, so I wonder if he was technically still acting and featured in it until the end, just not as a Ragnar/a speaking role.
Part of this venting session stems from the pattern that, despite his experience and skill level with acting, he seems to get such small roles. More specifically, he seems to often die. Either the death makes the role short or its just a small role. I know he doesn't mind being type cast as an antagonistic character because he finds playing villains as fun, so I won't harp on that, but I just wonder if short roles are all he's able to get from his agents or hiring teams or if he genuinely just wants to stick to smaller stuff.
I haven't seen everything he's been in because its not all accessible to me, but especially recently/post GoT, you'd think his roles would get more prominent. They could still be lowkey/indie stuff as a way to mitigate living with fame, but he's been mostly supporting or lesser.
Playing the villain, Rory only appeared in 3 of 6 episodes of Knuckles with no segway into the new Sonic movie (maybe he died in the show). I read on Tumblr that his role in Jackdaw was about 2 min if I remember correctly. He's done voice work, of which I watched Vox Machina, and personally he didn't sound like himself to me and I didn't initially recognize him (which could be a good thing as an actor). His voice is distinctive, but his character in the show had a generic, domineering tone which Rory can easily do while still sounding like himself. For example, Lance Reddick's antagonistic character in the show did sound like him while still being domineering. He also only had like 1-2 min of total screen time in the new Gladiator movie. I'll take what I can get, bc it was a nice surprise to find that he was in the movie, but I feel like his roles in Slow West and XXX, though still supporting rather than main, featured his longest screen time post GoT. Maybe Jumanji too. That was almost ten years ago.
I don't know. At the end of the day, I'm happy he's getting steady work even if its not how most people would see as an advancement in a career. A career is what you make it. If you are making enough to be financially stable and content (which it seems like he is), then there's no need to accept a promotion and do more work if you don't want to. I also don't want to discount the main roles that he has earned. Though, according to Wikipedia, he has only been in top billed roles for TV 3 times and the last was a decade ago. Maybe he likes the extra time that smaller roles bring; maybe it allows him to sail more. That coupled with playing villains is probably perfect for him. I respect the privacy of his personal life, I just wonder if its by his choice or if production companies or his agents aren't getting him roles he deserves. I also just hate seeing actors in general get typecast when they seem to have the potential for more, especially for physical matters like looking different or ageism.
Getting crumbs as content to consume as a fan are the woes of being apart of a niche fandom like one of a non-mainstream actor. Good thing I love Pedro Pascal bc I get well fed in that fandom everyday. If you made it this far, sorry it was long and thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

Helluva Boss doesn’t feel what it’s supposed to be anymore like how the hell do we go from imps going to earth to kill people to shitty forbidden fan fic love story!? and I feel so bad for brandon if I remember correctly viv came to him with the premise of a animated dark comedy adult cartoon and wanted him to voice blitzo so of course he said yes do you think he hates how the show is going now? I’m surprised he hasn’t left the show yet maybe after season 3 brandon will leave because he can’t take it anymore and Helluva Boss will get canceled
Ya, like I said in my previous post, HB has no idea what it's supposed to be. It abandoned its premise to go for a love story featuring a toxic relationship and it also tries to be about Blitz's trauma. None of these three ideas for a show mix, and I have no idea what this show is even supposed to be about.
Even in season 1 only two out of the eight episodes actually revolved around the premise.
As for the Brandon thing...we'll have to wait and see his opinion, though considering how badly written HB has become I will not blame him if he ever decides to leave the show. But again, we'll have to see what he thinks about what HB has become first. We won't see that for a long time though.

T stands for Tara (or maybe for Trauma)
Rewatching S9 sure is a lesson in paying attention for me 'cause I missed so many things the first time it's almost like I'm watching a new season now. The biggest example is, of course, Dean's emotions vs Responsibility/Accountability.
The Gadreel Thing is so much more layered than I thought and this was on me cause the show was spitting facts: Dean gets manipulated by the angel, there's no doubt about that. The show makes it abundantly clear from episode 1 that angels are, generally speaking, not to mess with and now even more so, now that they're on earth, fallen and in pain they are even more deranged and dangerous than usual. They're desperate for vessels and it's a real fucking mess, it's absolutely ugly.
Now, Dean doesn't really know about all this but he does know that angels are dicks, I think he even trademarked the phrase. However, Dean's desperate cause a fucking doctor told him that Sam's life is in God's hands (as he had a right to be, fuck you Doctor but also, in hindsight, LOL if only they knew they were indeed in God's hands all along...). He prays to Cas, Cas doesn't answer and what does he do? He prays to angels, any angel who will listen.
And this is Dean's fatal flaw: one might say he's too emotional or that he's emotional disregulated but Dean acts based on what he feels at the moment and he has two modes: either he feels nothing or too much and this is unfortunately not healthy, talking from experience.
The thing is that Dean's emotions are treated as a sort of moral compass in the show, as something that either justifies or blames him and I'm not sure that's fair to Dean, to the other characters and to the audience too.
But back to S9, S9 really pointed the finger at Dean's emotions and said this is what happens when you're not centered in yourself: people take advantage of you. Because Dean was taken advantage of by Gadreel, by Crowley and even by Cain. it's abysmally sad.
So, in my view, Dean was responsible for making a desperate call to desperate monsters based on desparate emotions and that sets off a chain of events that he cannot be entirely held accountable for. This doesn't mean Sam shouldn't be pissed, he has all the right to be so. What I'm saying is that they're so focused on their issues (the same they had by the end of s8 that s9 has just taken to its tragic extremes) that they're not seeing the bigger picture. And while Sam can be justified for failing to see it because he was also a victim of manipulation (a manipulation where his own brother has a hand in) and literally not in his sound mind, Dean should be able to start gathering the pieces but he fails to do so. Why?
I think an extremely interesting episode is "Bad Boys", if I remember the title correctly. The one where we come to know that Dean was in a boys' home for 2 months. Full disclosure I don't like the episode for its overly sentimental tone and 'cause there are a lot of factual incorrect things but it very well succeeds in showing us the root of Dean's behavior.
In this episode Dean clearly states (and he seems to believe it) that it wasn't John's fault (as Sam pointed out) that he got arrested and brought to Sonny's boys' house. It was his fault.
And we, we absolutely see that this is 100% not true. Like, none at all. All the fault was 100% on John, period. But here they are, something like 15 or more years later and Dean, a full adult now, still thinks that it was his fault.
So, once again, in case we had forgotten, the show reminded us that the main source of Dean's issue with responsibility stems from his childhood trauma.
This is why he now blames himself for Kevin's death and Sam's possession. Which it's actually true cause he did call the angels in a reckless, illogical, desperate moment, bringing havoc on that poor hospital instead of waiting for 5 fucking minutes and calm down. So yeah, Dean's got a problem. However he is NOT responsible for Gadreel's con just like he wasn't responsible for John being a neglectful and abusive father. And yet he takes these burdens on himself because he did call the angels and he did steal the bread but both times he acted from a place of desperation and both symbolical and literal starvation.
it's still a problem but it's another kind of problem.
Now, what does S9 in this regard? It made it all worse. Yeah.
Dean makes the same mistake twice but this time I will hold Dean if not responsible, surely accountable for it.
Tara is the glaring example of what I'm trying to say.
Tara is the woman John Winchester had a thing with while they were hunting a knight of hell together. Or something like that. She dies because of Dean but this time Dean doesn't blame himself, he blames Crowley and he's in the wrong.
Crowley manipulates Dean just like Gadreel did. In fact, Dean was hunting for his prey, Gadreel, when Crowley shows up promising to do something fun fun fun together. And Dean capitulates because this is what he thinks the solution to his problems is: fun without consequences. Except, there are. like. tons of them.
Of course, Crowley's not Gadreel and he knows Dean so much better and uses the ghost pf John Winchester to lure him in ("Does T stand for terrible father?" etc). Together they go to one of John's storage units (parents trapped in demonic storage units while their sons become ghosts or even demons is a literal thing in s9, ask Linda Tran; the symbolic implications are simply delicious, I'll forever love Carver for his command of symbolism) and the dance begins.
They end up in Tara's shop and here Dean is the absolute worst: he fucking shows there with the literal King of Hell by his side, downright lies about it and fucking reassures Tara that it's all good and she should trust them. Them?! A literal stanger AND the King of Hell? Dean was out of his mind with grief and hurt etc but this is borderline stupid and demanding and all sorts of bad things that got Tara dead by skin-peeling. Ugh.
Tara immediately calls his bullshit because she has the knee thingy: her knee aches in the presence of a demon. Yeah, yeah, Dean's a demon foreshadowing, cool, but also. like. Dean lied and he came clean just cause he couldn't do otherwise.
He vouches for Crowley and this leads to admittedly even stupider Tara to believe this stranger and put a bullet in her demon trap, an action that will later prove fatal for her.
So Tara dies horribly because of the Capital Sin of Trusting Impossibly Beautiful White Men Who Claim They Want to Save&Protect People but really, mainly because of Dean.
And I find it sooo interesting and telling that Dean is ready to beat himself up for Kevin and Sam to the point of taking on the fucking Mark of Cain because he didn't have the tools to handle big emotions (not his fault but it is his responsibility as an adult to try and look into this since it's apparenlty hurting people). However, he promptly distanced himself from Tara: that was on Crowley.
And maybe it was. Because Crowley was manipulating Dean etc. But how come Dean CAN see where responsibility lies NOW and yet he cannot see it in the Gadreel Thing? How can he absolve himself so easily?
Here lies Dean's second fatal flaw, one that he shares with his brother: for all their talks about saving people and the world, at the end of the day they only care about their own world, that is strictly each other. And they do that because SURPRISE!SURPRISE! their only caregiver didn't care for their well-being and closed them off from the real world. Literally so. Dean didn't go to the dance, supposedly didn't keep learning how to play guitar, didn't do any other boxing match or whatever he did in high school.
The show presents it as HIS choice but was it really??? He was a goddamn kid, of course he wanted those things AND he wanted to be with his brother. If choice it was, it was an utterly unfair one and definitely a choice too big for a 16 yo teenager. Similar thing applies to the Gadreel Thing: it was Dean's choice but was it really? People see it differently but I'd say that choice under coercion is not a real choice, add trauma and unresolved issues to the mix and you've got a recipe for disaster.
Now, I'm not one for "John's the monster in this story" cause he's another complicated character but also yes, as a parent he is a monstrous parent and understanding his trauma doesn't justify him, just like with any other character.
This is, of course, the core of the Carver era and one of the reasons why I like it: because it doesn't shy away from showing Sam and Dean's hypocrisy and where it comes from.
Finally, I just want to say that Tara in Buddhism is "The Venerable Mother of Liberation", the one who compassionately saves people in the samsara. It's ironic that she gets brutally killed right before Dean takes on the mark, am I right? It's also not ironic that Carver era ended with the Resurrection of Mary Winchester after Dean was released of the Mark and released The Darkness in the world. They did a thing.

TCW Rewatch: Season 3 Episodes 5-8
More Satine episodes. I don’t even disagree with her like goals and motivations I just personally dont like her personality and methodology.
Tbf i also really dont like the portrayal of Mandalore in general in this series. These notes i think explain my issues with this portrayal fairly well tho.
Episode 5: Corruption
* More Satine episodes oh boy…
* Satine wins neutrality for Mandalore but this brands her an outsider from the Republic and makes it difficult to aid the mandalorians
* Padme goes to Mandalore for a diplomatic visit hoping to alleviate tension as Mandalore is consumed with greed
* In the masses of the Mandalorian people is spotted one (1) person of color in the swathes of blonde or red haired, white people
* Arguing about trade routes and smuggling supplies
* Discussions of war, neutrality, and corruption between padme and satine, padme says she sometimes wishes she could follow mandalore in becoming a neutral planet, she also says she works to overcome the corruption of the republic and that she believes it is possible to do so
* Children are getting poisoned
* She says the terrorist attacks have only been targeted at her and her administration as if they didnt plant a bomb in a populated area and harm innocents if im remembering correctly
* The sterility of Mandalore irks me, I know it’s probably meant to be this like “ooh look how clean and peaceful” but it just looks offputting this is supposed to be a school for children and it looks like a stereotypical mental institution. Theres no color, the children where drab grey uniforms, its so strange
* And again there are only blonde white children in that entire cafeteria
* It took children getting poisoned to admit to corruption? Not the multiple traitors youve had to deal with?
* Greed kills
* Padmes such a badass i love her
* Ah… That Scene… this is another example of what i dislike about Satine bc shes being totally unreasonable her, she wants to destroy evidence for her own investigation, and when someone says “but you’re destroying evidence thats not a good idea” she threatens to arrest him for something he didnt do, effectively framing him for what? Having the audacity to point out the flawed logic?
* Also coming back to the “we sent all of our warriors to the moon” thing, what about your literal police force?
* She understands that her government is corrupt but what is she really doing to root out the corruption?
* Almec says he will investigate
* It is a good idea to take this to the Jedi directly as opposed to taking it to the Republic bc they would just send the Jedi anyway and the Republic will just turn them away for their neutrality
Episode 6: The Academy
* Love that it recognizes that Mandalore is deeply corrupt, instead of doubling down on the whole idyllic peace bullshit facade they have
* Also did they ever actually come to a conclusion on the trade issues? I dont think so but like thats hella important
* Im saying this now but i do not subscribe to the Korkie is a Kenobi theory and actively dislike it for so many reasons
* Ahsoka explains corruption very well, i especially like the “its every citizens duty to challenge their leaders” although Satine probably would disagree all things considered
* Shes accidentally radicalizing the students its great
* Who are these goat guys? They keep showing up
* Ofc the police are corrupt, theyre police
* He totally couldve lost his leg there
* What a surprise… the prime minister is the traitor…
* So was Satine aware of Almec? I assume she was already investigating
* Ok that’s torture
* And coercion but i dont think thats a war crime
Episode 7: Assassin
* Aurra Sing is DEAD??? Since when???
* Do you think someone should explain to her that learning more on the field than at the temple is not a jedi thing? This is another example of Ahsoka being trained as a soldier and commander rather than a jedi padawan
* Is she worried about Anakin? If so thats sweet
* Oh shes traumatized
* “Troubled” Yoda its called trauma
* Or its just a nightmare
* Baby you are a Padawan, a Student, you are meant to study and learn. You arent a soldier
* So Aurra Sing is alive supposedly and targeting Padme
* Bail and Padme are meant to lead a conference on Alderaan concerning refugees from the war. It is nice to see some of the senators genuinely care for the people.
* Padme and Ahsoka have a cute relationship very older sister, or rather older sister in law
* They really dont seem to be teaching visions very well at Jedi school even though it doesn’t seem to be liek that uncommon
* All these bitches got visions why are you not teaching them about said visions? The children are glimpsing the horrors, Yoda!!
* An almost successful assassination attempt
* I do love when padmes allowed to be badass, i totally get why Anakin would be in love with her even if theyre both so toxic
* Oh wait its ziro?? I wasn’t expecting that i swear i watched this show before
* Whats the deal with ziro??
* Wait is it bc of the hostage situation at the end of season 1? I dont remember how that ended
Episode 8: Evil Plans
* Is this the cad bane torturing droids episode?
* I just love to see Todo and Bane
* R2 is such a diva i love it
* I know coruscant is meant to be like epitome of corruption in the GFFA but goddamn is it ugly hidden behind the pretty lights
* Does that make sense or is it just the ADHD brain talking
* Bane knows R2 by name? Ok ig
* I actually still havent picked up on what Bane is looking for
* In my defense my brain fog makes my ADHD worse and i dont wanna rewatch the episode
* Why does Jabba need the Senate floor plans?
* Does this episode take place pre- season 1 episode 22? I still have no idea if Ziro was recaptured or not
* Wait why does R2 even have the senate floor plans?

Do you ever think about how when Ruin was still under the virus's control, Moon was the first person they saw in who knows how long, the person who he reached out to and begged for help, the person who reassured them that he was planning on saving them, the person who explained practically everything to them when they got cured, one of the people who they owe their LIFE to, and now Moon is the one interrogating them, accusing them of rebuilding eclipse, installing a tracker on them (1/2)

YES
YES I DO AND IT HURTS SO GOSH DARN BAD
New Moon... he just- I used to like him, yes he had his faults even in the past but it was easy to see those as him struggling with coming to terms with being someone who was SOMEONE ELSE before and needing to fit that holr the person left behind. He was relearning everything from scratch. It was understandablw that he would hiccup at some points.
My main appeal of old Moon was mainly that... he could SEE when someone was trying to change, when someone had a chance to turn over a new leaf. Because he HIMSELF had tried and done that. He knew what it was like to be someone viewed in a negative light, but he also knew what it was like to want to BE better and he was lucky enough to get the chance for that. Yes all the celestial family's problems stem from old Moon leaving Eclipse behind in Sun but.. to a level he can't really be blamed for that? He didn't know the killcode would grow sentient, he didn't know it would become its own person. He couldn't have predicted that as it's not something that happened to them before. He wanted to not be a danger to his brother now that they both had their own frames and could exist side to side.
The new Moon... he doesn't KNOW that. He doesn't know why the old Moon did the stuff he did. He doesn't know what it's like to be shaped into a monster by design yet wish for something better, something more. He DOESN'T. He'd never had the chance to learn or experience what that's like. The old Moon had. He doesn't know what to look for in a person to see that they wish to be different but are struggling to do so, or refuse to acknowladge it til the last possible moment. That's why he blasted backup Eclipse, he didn't register the desperation in his voice as genuine ladt ditch attempt to be given a moment to explain. No, he saw it as manipulation. The old Moon, by all means, would hsve most likely picked up on that as... NOT something Eclipse had ever done before. So backup Eclipse was blasted
I think the only reason he picked up on Ruin Eclipse not being the one in control there was solely because he sent Sun into the Ruin dimension and had the proof of that handed to him on a silver platter. Robots there have been infected by a virus that makes them go crazy and kill organic life. So.. he had proof of a person existing under the virus' control. And he did what he could to get that person out of the deep virus riddled sea they were trapped in. Because. He. Had. Proof.
After they managed to cure Ruin Eclipse? He. Had. No. Proof. Of. The. Virus. Being. Gone. He explained everything to them after they woke up, because they needed to know that no, you can't go home. Yes, you're stuck with us now. You were a bad guy. If I remember correctly, Ruin Eclipse was last aware of themself in the year of 2015 or 2017 (< in the episode they woke up, they weren't sure themselves) and the virus had been in their system for... 50ish years? Unsure.
Now we're here. Where they're getting shoved off to the side. Which has been mainly started by the same person that gave them their mind back. Why? Because Moon has no proof of them being cured. He has nothing. So, he's wary, distrustful. Shoving Ruin Eclipse to the side to make them not be a problem. While.. being SURPRISED when they want to help and be included. They didn't ask for this. For all we know they could be locked up in the arcade, reminiscing on how it all probably would be better if they haven't been cured. Haven't been aware. Haven't ever left their dimension. Ect. Ect.
They are lonely and desperate. Confused. Kept out of the loop. They don't know anything unless they ASK. They are thought of as stupid, when.. Ruin, while infected, was miles above Moon and Eclipse combined. To this day, they don't know how he could read what was in the static screens, or even how he did it. No one knows how he did it. And then we have our cured Ruin Eclipse who, may not be as much of a smartsy as Ruin was, but they ARE Sun and Moon combined. They aren't as smart as Moon, sure. But they know how to follow blueprints. If they have a blueprint for something, they can follow it to a T. It's downright insulting to think of them as stupid (same with Sun, he isn't stupid either). Moon thought it necessary to explain how the tracker works at which- Ruin Clipsy was probably thinking something along the lines of "I know how a tracker works."
They just- gosh, they need someone to talk to. To be there with them. Just someone who they can ramble off to, info dump, whatever else they need. Physical touch's important and they've.. I feel like they've been kept away from that a lot
#answered asks#sun and moon show#tsams#sams#ray's ramblings#this got so gosh darn long ahah#lost my train of thought so we're leaving it here jfjfjd

My ATLA Live Action Review

Update 270224: why they add new icons and did another bait of katara and zuko placement? No you can't say it is not intentional...😂🔥🌊💕
Okaay..as you know.. I am a long fans of ATLA and pretty hardcore for the 3 animation books (not really a fans of the comics and TLOK tho).. as you know too..after the live action movie disaster, we really lower our expectations..but after the Netflix OPLA and some of the ATLALA trailer..I kinda increase my expectations..
I watched all 8 episodes yesterday (it premiered 22 Feb 2024 at 15.00-23.30 WIB)..
Let's see my general favorites part, not so favorite and then some takes for each main characters (for me it's a good and acceptable live action and worth to watch!)
Spoilery Area
Favorite parts:
- they explore the air nomads culture more, a bit of how airbender doing their bending.. and also the heart wrenching genocide on screen 🫠 I was crying... Also monk Gyatso!!! Huhuhu
- The costume and trinket are super details and vibrants which really beautiful. Although I wish they make it a bit dirty because that outfits supposedly a daily used outfits but for me it was just too clean and spotless 😂
- The lighting during bending and even during night combats is bright!!!! Finally I can see anything! It kinda feels like the LOTR battle of helms deep because we know it's night but it still bright enough to see what is happening! A rare occurrence in many series or movies nowaday (yeah Loki S2 I am looking at you)
- the CG!! For me is very decent and believable.. okay I knew for Appa it's look a bit dirty and not real enough..but they shot it in a day clear!! You know how cg nowadays always hidden in a dark screen..so it's still pretty good and need to be appreciated. And even Momo behaves like my cat..and I feeling emotional for him too..(especially on the last episode huhu)
- They add more details that I believe only a fans speculation before..and I thought its show how they probably researching on the fandom thought too (example, Ozai marking Zuko by putting his hand directly onto his face)
- It's not a 1on1 copy so it's still surprising what's gonna happened in each episodes and also which episodes actually it's referencing to. Ep.3 is the good example on combining Haru + Jet arc and also Theo arc, with the Katara and Sokka sibling clash due to difference believe (in the animation it happened during the canyon episode)
- Jet..so handsome..I am sorry..I understand now why Katara like him in the animation hahahaha
- Dallas Liu as Zuko!! *Chef kiss his combat and his intonation~~ aaaaaaa
- they build the mental burden of fire nation characters early on. I think it was to smoothen the Zuko to Gaang if there's a S2
What I don't really like:
- They changed characters traits and weaknesses which later impacting other characters trait too. For example, Sokka not sexist made him a tamer brother for Katara, which later impacted her character too..(gonna explained more in my characters takes review).
- No Haru in this live action...I FEEL DEVASTATED
- Suki why are you becoming so awkward 🥹🫠 (the only part I feel cringe during the entire 8 episodes was unfortunately during Suki and Sokka interaction huhuhu..while in the animation that's my favorite part..)
- apparently Oma Shu legend changes now....🤔
- they really burned anyone to crisps huhuhu. I never imagined that Katara's mom died from burning alive and in agony..huhuhuuu the same also happened to Monk Gyatso if I remembered correctly huhuhu)
- the bending stances for some people kinda off. Some of the time it looks perfect (Zuko..wow!!and the earthbender in the ep 1 *applause), but sometimes it not firm enough, especially for the earthbenders in Omashu....;A; it could be better...
My review on the characters
Aang:
Gordon as his actor really looks like Aang, especially when he smiles. His voice is similar too. Although this Aang is a bit too serious, mature and rarely joking. I know..it maybe because the tone of this LA also a lot more darker..(but I wish he enjoy himself more...🥹🥹). He really feels like an adult in a child body for this live action...(but this was the development which I wish the animated Aang in Book 3 did).
I feel bad for him tho.. every adult really blamed him for disappeared that night (Bumi, Suki's mom, even the other Avatars). The adult avatars seems to be a broken and imperfect adult too....I wonder if Yangchen gonna be different?
I was so happy when he finally met Monk Gyatso again in the spirit world and when he said that all of this that happened in the past was not Aang's faults. Because it really is NOT his fault..Oh poor boy.
Tho now I wonder why Gyatso only stayed in the spirit world for that particular moment...? He said that time working differently there.. but Katara and Sokka whom also was in the spirit world are still alive.. so it's should not be too long, right?
I wonder when Aang gonna try learning waterbending tho? And how can he visited Roku's temple quickly?
Sokka:
Ian looks like Sokka.. and I always laughing whenever he's doing his dry jokes..haha (but unfortunately it's not many..maybe because we only have 8 episodes).
Anyway, Sokka here is a very responsible leader, kinda awkward, felt more introverted than his animation counterpart. He actually has Stark vibes from Frieren in this LA.
One of weakness from the original Sokka is how extremely sexist he is..which rooted from how sexist the water tribe in general. However this LA toning it down until it almost none for Sokka. And this impacted his relation with Katara, because in LA, he actually still felt like older brother!! Even since early episode..
Katara:
The actress actually nailed as her..I love how she looks like when she is in Katara's outfit. I think her Katara is more gentle, (maybe because of her natural face), thus her Katara tends to looks like smiling a lot.. which is a good thing. But unfortunately in some scenes --which I wish gonna have a lot more intense emotion (anger or headstrong) --it was not really shown perfectly.
As I written above, some of her traits kinda disappear here. In the animation, she IS the mother of the Gaang. Very bossy sometimes and very scary when angry. She is independent and know what she wanted to do and mostly the one who reminds Aang and Sokka to finding the waterbending teacher for Aang in the NP. However, due to the change of traits she felt like a normal younger sister for Sokka and even Aang. She often ask "so what we gonna do now?" And Aang is the one who was like.."we need to go to the North Pole ASAP!!"
Anw, I love her bending tho.. I think the water animations looks very good! Especially when fighting with Zuko or other firebender. She seems to be very adaptive and perceptive, because she used other bending movement for her own waterbending skillsets. What I think can be improved is maybe her stance.. in LA, she used a pretty advance waterbending with loads of water.. but her legs stance not wide and make it looks like not firm and balance enough...
Zuko:
Dallas Liu!! Standing applause for you because for me you ARE Prince Zuko! His intonation very similar to Dante Basco's Zuko. I also learned that he actually really love Zuko and did research for both of his predecessor (yes, Dante n Dev Patel's Zuko too). I was impressed with his martial art skills. His firebending look very believable, he also did his own stunt I think? especially when doing bending n using weapons..
His acting as a confused but honorable young man also very good. I cried 3 times in this LA, which were during airbender genocide, Katara's mom death and when Zuko cries after his father announce banishment (when he was just laying on his bed helpless, tired, sad and defeated). We can see how he's just a boy..and I cried.
I love his interaction with Aang too. He seems more open to conversation early on. Even when Aang asking about the type of brush that he used for his journal... he answer it.. hahaha.
He loves Iroh and really respected Luten. We can already see him as a honorable young man early on.
Intermezzo Shipping potential
Zutara: Zuko and Katara interactions mostly during battle,, but there're one scene which I count as zutara crumbs in Ep. 3. When he touched Katara's scarf in slow motion. I wonder if it was the setup for the slowburn unrequited love of Zutara (aaah why my OTPs road so painful) but it's huge for me!! I was screaming when I saw this scene. Also when Aang, Katara and Zuko interacted in Kuruk's shrine, when Aang said " Don't be too hard" " I am not talking to you" was very funny haha. During the battle also, he seems to noticed Katara's bending progress, which is funny because it shows how Zuko really is a bending nerd, both in the series and during the interview (Dallas once said that waterbender really difficult because you need to stay still with a low stances)..both loves bending!!
Jetara: Well... now I understand why Katara like Jet in the original, because he looks hella FINE, in the LA he looks so handsome! xD but anyway, I think Jet in the LA was combination of Haru and Jet. In the beginning when he said " my wife and my brother and law", I was like... hmm maybe Jetara is very plausible too. I hope the LA gonna use different take and gives him a redemption arc too. It'll be so saad if he ends up like in the original ;_;
Harutara: Not possible. Haru not even in this LA....so saaaaaad. Really wish his character indeed combines with Jet tho. Hopefully it gonna change Jet's fate a bit
Kataang: They changed the secret tunnel story, Katara was trapped with Sokka and not Aang. But when they playing with water together they're seems very cute! besides in the final episode Katara said " I need you" to the spirit-combined Aang. So it still possible for a proper writing of their relationship! Which is great! ( because my only complain of the original Kataang is how OOC the characters sometimes)
Sukka: Suki looks very pretty in the LA. However the writing made her an awkward girl who seems to be very shy and cannot convey her words clearly. she seems to greatly simping for Sokka without clear reason. I mean, during her interaction with Sokka, she rarely talking... Just staring to him....awkwardly.........she is kinda like Fern in Frieren hahaha. So their interaction here is like Fern x Stark, thus it still very possible. BUT I miss the original Suki characteristics though.. I miss her lines" I am a warrior but I am a girl too". Too bad it's not in this LA..
Yue x Sokka: LA Yue has more confident and autonomy than the original. Her vibes here is like the animation Suki. She can chose partner for herself and since she's not betrothed to Hahn anymore, her relationship with Sokka isn't gonna be awkward. If she was not need to sacrifice herself to be a moon...they could be canon. (Also, Yue could waterbend?!)
Yue x Hahn: I never ever ship them in the original series. Because original Hahn was an arrogant and annoying young man, but here in LA, he's very kind, listen to other's feedback , was handsome too. He respect Yue and basically a very good man (he has Haru's vibes). So when he's dead I was so saaaaaad.... but, because now Yue becoming Moon spirit, I believe Hahn's spirit return to the Ocean. Thus they could be together again.. dancing eternally as part of Tui and La.
Fire Nation
Iroh: I love how he already portrayed as a pacifist FN who loves his nephew so much. In the original, early Iroh still a bit morally grey.. but in this LA, they just makes him friendly to the avatar and the spirit world since the beginning. So glad when he explained what sacrifice that Zuko's did to the 41th army (his current crewmates). Zuko deserves love!!
Ozai: He was more enigmatic and manipulative than in the original. He likes to gaslighting his children. I found it confusing in the beginning...because he appears to be more emotional (sometimes I noticed his teary eyes when talking to his children), which makes me (as the watcher) thought that he was actually care. But apparently not.. he did that just so his children can fighting to get his approval. For example, when Azula mentioned Zhao as the one who found the avatar, Ozai was like "no it's your brother Zuko", which made Azula even more angry and envied the 'unlucky Zuko'. While in reality, Ozai did that so Azula fueled with hatred to his brother and can be motivated to be the very best. The original Ozai more stoic and seems to be more on brawn than brain. But this Ozai is more psycho..
Azula: ooh poor princess Azula, hated by her mother unloved by her father. She's only a tool for Ozai. In the LA, Azula sometimes looks calm and deadly, but most of the times in front of her father or friends, she always lose her temper, and can't really control herself. I actually miss her original calm, precise and deadly self.. but maybe it's the mental build up for her last Agni Kai?? Anyway WHERE IS HER BLUE FLAME?? is it for the next season? I saw her flame color changed to blue for a second right before she doing the lightning bending... but still... Where is her blue flame? it just different without her signature flames..
Tylee and Mai: they not show their skillsets yet, but Mai already shown that she's the calmest one and has clear mind in compare to Azula.
Zhao: I hate him. I think the actor did a good job because I really want to punch him on the face. His appearance was different with the original (lieutenant Gee more looks like the animation Zhao). He's a lot more like snake in this LA.
41th crewmember: Yeah they should be very loyal to Zuko.. glad in the end they respected him again. Although maybe they're all dead after the battle in NP. Still sad that Iroh didn't sing Four Seasons song with them in this LA..huhuhu
But TLDR. This Live Action is very enjoyable for me and has reached my expectations
Not too many scenes that made me feel cringe (only the Suki part I guess)
so.. 9.5/10 for me.
Ps. I was writing till finished but somehow tumblr cannot save it and half of my review gone... And I am not in the mood yet to rewrite all of it again...*cries
pps. finally finished! some review probably changed since I forgot what I was writing before...

do you realize how awesome that would be between a cybertronian and an atlanian having a few similarities ?
also I had a lot of thoughts that had me sort of stuck.
Like the beginning part of how the atlanians were trying so very hard to out run an explosion. Perhaps a little tie to Quintess? something must of had their attention that they thus gave knowledge to them but later something that caused their downfall, just like Quintess and his creations. perhaps that was price?
would the Cybertronians know at some point, be it accident or intentionally, they seek them out? Even if they had no tie to the primes, it would still be one within of Primal. though the same could be said in reverse. either way, who knows what they may have inhereted by the line. Scratch that, the Guardian would more than likely prevent them from going further but say they do get past the Guardian and they do come across an Atlanian and thus their broken home beneath the surface.
I had forgetton that the stone(?) defense does react to danger and does choose someone of royalty. I did forget about the part where Kida was chosen and thus looked... crystalized? like energon. but also could not be touched cuz you'd wind up being like them too.
I unfortunately do not remember the all parts, only bits and pieces of the movie so feel free to ignore this.
There had been some talk that other ancient civilizations had their own massive technological marvel wonders in that movie verse, so perhaps there's something in the legends and myths…
I can't help but to think of it in a universe where Earth-is-Unicron or Unicron-yielded-Gaea because 1) we all need to utilize that way more, 2) makes sense with all the chaotic fuckery on the planet, and 3) would make a lot of sense on how it managed to store/grow Energon without tipping off a nearest spacefaring civilization, seems to be a reverse Cybertron in its makeup (dirt, metal, and water), yet able to support Primus’ own creations if utilized correctly, and build on the connection between Earth and Cybertron.
We're cousins. We have to fuck around with it. Especially with the same idea that Cybertronians and humans are cousins to the Quintessons since those multi-faced, space squids are Quintus’ descendants.
So that would make so much sense why Atlantis’ mobile weaponry was modeled after sea creatures. The Atlantians are taking advantage of the squids’ natural predators for extra psychological damage.
Imagine if the Leviathan ship came after the Quintesson invasion after a lot of tinkering between mechanical and organic components? The Atlantic answer to Quintessons’ space whale transport.
King Kashekim's dying words gave us so many details of the Heart itself and how it's able to make choices. Look, if that doesn't feel like a divine instrument or a Primal Artifact, then I don't know what does!
As a timeline, we could put the Downfall after repelling the Quintessons. King Kashekim would have had access to greater tech compared to other ally civilizations at that point, who's to say he wasn't looking to expand Atlantis’ dominion, especially after a massive undertaking and decisive win?
As for being searched by Cybertronians, it would depend on the universe. It would totally revamp the G1 episode with Atlantis and TFP would have really fantastic world-building on sentient Artifacts, Optimus not being the last of the Primes, and delve into the impact of cultural/religious instruments and “who” could claim them. Could the Autobots take the Heart and doom the inhabitants to ensure Decepticons don't raid it? What happens if the Heart refuses to cooperate? It may be a Primal Artifact/Titan, but who holds its loyalty? The descendants of its creator, especially with an unbroken lineage, or a pure Cybertronian Prime?
Could they even get past the Leviathan in the first place? This isn't a submarine where a standard mech could punch through its hull. A Leviathan is a proper war machine on a galactic standard and capable of transporting the Cybertronians themselves. Would it obey Optimus or not?
There are so many directions this could go. It's fascinating!
#ask#transformers#atlantis the lost empire#crossover#fic ideas#my thoughts#maccadam#ughhh the Thoughts I have with this#especially with the crystal#CRYSTAL MY GUYS ENERGON CRYSTAL SPARK CRYSTAL IT'S RIGHT THERE

anime reviews
1) BLOOD LAD
Rating: 8/10
Episodes: 10
Fanfiction: Low amount.
Its fun, captivating, and funny -- as expected from a comedy-thriller. Blood Lad follows Staz Blood, a vampire that has never felt the touch of a human, no more of a female human. Due to that, he agrees to help a human girl return to the human.
The anime is sprinkled with fan service. The FMC, the human (named Fuyumi Yanagi), and Bell Hydra are pretty much the two female characters that fall victim to this. I recommend not watching this anime in public or especially around family members if you don't want anyone assuming you're watching hentai.
Watch the anime if you're into: vampires, action, adventure, and comedy. There's not much gore, if I remember correctly.
2) KIZUMONOGATARI I, II, III
Rating: 9/10
Fanfiction: There's not many good ones, with half of them being smut.
Among the many installments in the well-known and potentially problematic Monogatari series, there are 3 Kizumonogatari movies that are sure to prompt a number of 'wow's and 'what?'s.
Our main character is Koyomi Araragi, your typical loner, nonchalant guy who is also a pervert and craves female touch. He's finds a (hot) vampire named Kill-Shot, then becomes one, and sets off on a journey to return back into his human self.
The quality and cinematography? It leaves me wanting more. Kizumonogatari I, II, and III showcases an objectively better quality than the other Monogatari installments. Its a mixture of 2D, 3D, and real life scenes.
There's gore and blood here and there, which is why I watched the movies in the first place, and it leaves me weirdly satisfied. There's also a hefty amount of fan service, with Hanekawa's undergarments exposed a couple times.
Watch if you're interested in: gore, action, adventure, a bunch of killings, vampires
3) DEVILS AND REALIST
Rating 8/10
Episodes: 12
Fanfiction: Not a lot.
Our main character is a realist -- an atheist. William Twining doesn't believe in God, nor does he believe in Devils and Demons or whatever. He believes in science, and only science. He's stubborn, and I mean incredibly stubborn. So imagine the frustration Dantalion suffers through in order to convince William that devils do exist, and that Wiliiam plays an important role in choosing the next leader of Hell. But Dantalion's pretty patient. If I was him, I would kicked William's ass by the 4th episode.
There's some implications of BL every now and then, but it makes me feel very slightly delusional to think that there are any. If you don't care about BL, proceed to watch. Christian elements are present through every episode, which is expected. There also the good is bad thing that you see often, like how Adam from Hazbin Hotel is actually a scumbag and not a super good guy that should be looked upon.
Watch if you're interested in: Hell vs Heaven, good vs bad, devils, action, adventure

graghh two things- I LOVE CHARLIE SLIMCICLE!!!! i kept seeing you mention him and was like. wuh oh/silly AND if you have any podcast/media recommendations pls do share cuz i need something to be obsessed over again lmao
HI LAURIE. JINGLES MY WAY SADLY ACROSS THE FLOOR AS I REVEAL MY GOVERNMENT ASSIGNED WHITE BOY THAT IM OBSESSED WITH. I am also going to kick my feet and giggle and say naddpod because despite how my blog looks right now it is for realsies my favorite podcast (AND imo its a lot easier to get into than some others since they have a lot of campaigns that you can pick and choose from!) the main campaign is pretty classic dnd campaign fantasy about three adventurers who have to right a lot of wrongs left behind by a previous legendary adventuring party! its VERY funny, I would say the type of comedy feels similar to dndads, and it has a lot of heart to it as well! the story is really nicely done, the characters are incredible, and all around I would consider it one of THE dnd podcasts ever. if you want something different tonally, they also have eldermourne, which is slightly shorter and slightly darker- I dont remember a ton of the plot but it's dark fantasy with more of a focus on the gods if I remember correctly, and it's ALSO very good. Trinyvale is a lot sillier, its like if three of the worst people you knew were coworkers and has made me laugh so hard I've cried MULTIPLE times; Twilight Sanctorum is a very short 4-episode mini campaign about a family of private investigators and while I haven't listened to campaign 3, I have heard some good things about it (though it does come after campaign 1- I dont think theyre directly linked, but enough that it would benefit to start with the first one.) it's fun it's silly I've somehow met only 2 other people at my school who know about it despite everyone knowing dndads and jrwi??? so its like my goal in life to spread the naddpod word. overall its really funny, really moving, and really good!!
#I saw this and was like ohhhh I respond when im at my computer and then I forgot. BUT. I remembered now.#im also rocking with jrwi and it has Charlie slimecicle since you know him and I like the pcs a lot!#it definitely takes a bit longer to get into though in my experience! plot-wise it isn't as strong as naddpod#I think naddpod has a much more similar vibe to dndads/dimension 20 (partly because theres cast overlap with d20)#and it has the benefit of having a lot of various and publicly-available campaigns that you can try out#so like. if c1 doesn't pique your interest you could try eldermourne or Trinyvale or smth and see if that sticks! they make a lot of banger

This is VERY UNLIKE ME, but here's some incredibly fast, EXTREMELY late-night meta on two dramas (Dangerous Romance and I Feel You Linger in the Air) from this TIRED mama, all before Only Friends later today!
(Y'all. I've missed being around this week! Moving and unpacking... I'll tell ya. It gets harder as I get older. Mostly because I/we have more stuff, and the BRAINS I need to figure out where this stuff should go is like, as mentally draining as it is physically draining to open boxes, unpack 'em, go up and down stairs -- damn. I have been COLLAPSING at night. Friends have been sending me meta to read -- @ranchthoughts, I see you, boo! <3 <3 The little peeks and breaks I've been getting have been giving me energy. I'm a little back on my bullshit now, and I can't wait to give Only Friends the full treatment tomorrow. But for now, quick notes!)
1) Dangerous Romance, episode 4: Listen, the friends covered a lot (here, here, and here -- @neuroticbookworm, @lurkingshan, @wen-kexing-apologist, all clowning correctly). WKA also notes that this show was written by Pratchaya Thavornthummarut and Bee Pongsate, two of the three writers of some of the best BLs ever -- Bad Buddy, My School President, Dark Blue Kiss, etc. When Bee and Pratchaya write WITHOUT Au Kornprom, as they did in BBS, MSP, and DBK -- things go a touch awry (cc @chickenstrangers, as we've talked about this before). Bee and Pratchaya, for instance, wrote Vice Versa, which I haven't watched, but I know the fam is mid on. (Remember when Aof Noppharnach had to come in to save 2gether by making Still 2gether? 2gether was written by Bee and Pratchaya -- Aof and Au joined in on the Still 2gether correction.)
ANYWAY, ALL OF THIS IS TO SAY that I should have been smarter about this show when I started in on it. It's directed in part by Lit Phadung, formerly of SOTUS, which is a fine show by nostalgia's standards! But like, not the height of drahmah.
So there's a lot of mid kinda swirling around here, and god, honestly, I'm kicking myself, because I should have been more sus. I should have been more sus!
Perth and Chimon are too good for this show. Not that I hate it! I don't hate the show, per se. It's just -- the first episode was so intense, so very issues-based, as all the dear friends noted, that to swerve towards a SUCH a gloopy romance plot was just... man, even SOTUS was WAY more clear in its plot than DR. (Dudes, I was chatting with @neuroticbookworm while I was watching this, and I was like, LOVE SICK HAD A MORE CONVINCING ROMANCE PACE THAN THIS. LOVE SICK!!!) DR is moving WAY too quickly towards the cheesiest of tropes, without the beef to back it up.
Anyway, from the energy vibes that Perth and Chimon are giving off, they should either 1) be making out by now, and/or 2) doing it by now, because like, WHOA, lots of staring, boys! LOTS of staring. And lemme tell ya, someone's staring at me like that, like in the clurb or something, and I'm like, yep, make-out time, right?! RIGHT?!
I am now officially watching this show, as I noted to @neuroticbookworm, literally to watch all the dear GMMTV celebs in here try to avoid a dumpster fire. (Where the hell is June?!) (At least Marc and Pawin are funny for like, the 10 seconds we see them.)
OH, ALSO?! What's the difference in Sailom becoming a sex worker vs. being bought out as a live-in tutor? Were we supposed to judge Sailom becoming an escort? Are we intentionally ignoring bias in socioeconomic gaps, writers? TOO MUCH TO ASK, TEAM! Too. much. to. ask.
I luv you, Perth and Chimon, I LUV YOU, BUT WHY. ANYWAY. MOVING ON.
2) I haven't written anything about I Feel You Linger in the Air yet because of LIFE (see above), and I was very wibbly about it when I started it, because you, your mother, MY mother, and MY MOTHER'S MOTHER all know about how sus I am on Tee Bundit (but I finally watched Lovely Writer and LOVED IT, so I am a touch less sus).
ANYWAY, thanks to the convincing of @lurkingshan and @neuroticbookworm to look past the slow pace of the first episode as accurate for a historical drama, I kept at it with IFYLITA. And I'm glad I did.
Now this? THIS IS A BL, BABY!
We got sexy typewriter scenes! Drawings of cutie widdle pigwets! Drunk falls! Red cheeks! Reading out loud! POETRY! FLOWERS! ENEMIES AND INTRIGUE! (I'm not happy about the marital rape, but unfortunately, I am thinking that is accurate for the time being portrayed.)
Admittedly -- god, Tee, the episodes are still a little long, my homey. A little long. BUT.
This show, as so many have noted, is just beyond gorgeous. The plumerias. I LOVE Ming and Maey. I LOVE THAT WE MAY HAVE A SAPPHIC SUB-PLOT.
But I also appreciate that only four episodes in, we haven't forgotten that this is a time travel show, in the midst of the budding romance. My thinking on that out-of-body experience on Jom's part was Jom flirting with consciousness after the present-day car crash. But who knows.
I like that Jom is making the connections with those drawings he found in that chest -- and that, lol, he was asking Prik questions about the architecture. Even though Yai's dad seems like a bad dude, I have faith that Tee Bundit is going to keep Nu Surasak going as a good BL dad/dude -- fingers crossed.
I am just -- I am loving where this show is going to go. The house is worried about Yai. I like the way the scent about Yai's preferences is a lot more muted in 1920s Thailand than it would be as set in the present-day. I just think that's totally accurate for what I would call an "old-fashioned" Asian perspective now. I'm very intrigued to see how a historical drama like this will wrestle with homophobia, as this is my first period BL, and -- I'm just excited to see where it'll go.
The acting is GREAT, the pace of the romance is GREAT, the pace of the filming is still slow, but I can't believe I'm saying this -- I'll continue to forgive it for now. Tee, please, PLEASE don't fail us, because you have something GREAT going on here. Yai, head over HEEEELLLLSSS for Jom, is just -- it's a wonder to see, and I am fully on this roller coaster palanquin ride.
(Also, hey, TWO DRAMAS where dudes were PAID to live with their crushes. K!)
(Oh, also, definitely, next time I'm at a clurb, in like, 20 years, I am definitely ordering an URN of liquor with a ladle. Like a baijiu urn. Fuck yeah. What a LOOK.)
(Okay, that's it, good night, see you for Only Friends!)

hello! i'd love to hear your thoughts on hazbin hotel's writing :] i really like the show, but i'm not really sure if i think it's...good? if that makes sense. so i'd love a second opinion :O
oh my god thank you so much for sending this ask bc ive been thinking about this for sooooo long ive got a lot to say about this show. picture that scene in the first episode where charlie whips out her longass pile of drawings to explain the hotel. that's me rn i have many things good and bad to say about this show. first off im gonna keep it a buck fifty with you anyone genuinely saying this show is really bad needs to watch more shows. watch supernatural season 13 or something. this was not by any stretch of the imagination a bad show for me writing-wise and even the criticisms i have here are mostly nitpicks
i actually think they did a pretty good job given the constraints they had. 8 episodes with 25 minutes each is a ridiculously small amount of time. that's less than 4 hours total to tell this whole story and develop, what, 6 main characters? and introduce major antagonists and the minor antagonists for the next season. i don't know how much they had to cut but i'm willing to bet it was a substantial amount since the show in-universe takes place over the span of 6 months. like i know everyone says this about the show but i really do feel bad that they were given such a short amount of time because it's pretty clear to me that there's a lot of passion put behind this project
i've heard a lot of people say that they have issues with the pacing of the show and i kind of agree. i think the timeline of the plot is kind of weird with episode 1 taking place 6 months from the extermination and episode 2 taking place very soon after. if i remember correctly we don't know when episodes 3 and 4 take place but episodes 5, 6, and 7 all take place back to back probably because they didn't want to shove angel, husk, and sir pentious' major character development right at the end of the series as the plot came to its climax. i think i can understand that reasoning but it does make for a very odd structure and leave the story feeling rushed near the end. i don't know what could have fixed this because having vaggie and charlie visit heaven earlier would have meant that a lot of the show had a higher sense of tension and i think that would've been worse. idk. i understand the criticism and i agree with it i just don't know what could have fixed it
the songs are banger. obviously. that's what happens when you hire half of the living tombstone to write your songs theyre just going to be sick as hell. loser, baby was my favorite and the one from dad beat dad was a close second i liked it a lot. i also think they did a great job developing all of the characters and giving them really solid character arcs with a couple exceptions, mostly alastor, niffty, and vaggie. i'll touch on that in a second. to me angel dust is the emotional core of the show and i really like him and husk. theyre my favorites ill b so sad if they get wrenched apart next season
i have some thoughts on vaggie and this comes from a place of love because i think she's an example of a really great character concept with a not-so-great execution. here's what i think. the writers seem to have a tendency of only giving vaggie big character moments that are tied to her relationship with charlie. and it bugs me a little bit. im not saying that vaggie being charlie's girlfriend has to be a smaller part of her character but every time we get a moment with her like her song in episode 3 it's about how she wants to protect charlie. as much as i love 'out for love' in episode 7 it was kind of unnecessary because we already know how devoted vaggie is to charlie. that was never called into question. for her to go to heaven, knowing that they would recognize her there as a fallen angel, just because charlie wanted her to be there really shows how much she loves her. and i think that part of episode 7 could have been better devoted to exploring the reason why she put her faith in the hotel and what charlie was doing in the first place, because she wants to believe that she can find redemption for the crimes she committed as an exorcist. i don't think they talked enough about the idea that vaggie was cast out of heaven for showing mercy to a sinner. and how this shows the very black-and-white view of morality that heaven has. i think i would like vaggie as a character more if the show stopped trying to frame her belief in the hotel as loyalty to her girlfriend and instead talked about how she's trying to find redemption herself, not in trying to get into heaven but in atoning for the many sinners she killed during the exterminations. that's a really big part of her character that i think should be touched on more often
if you follow me you already know my nitpicks about alastor. theyre problems that will almost certainly be fixed in the next season and theyre incredibly minor, i just dont like characters who seem to always inexplicably one step ahead of everyone else and above all sense of consequence. and to me this is made worse by the fact that alastor appears so often in season 1 without having any character development right next to characters like husk and angel who are going through such horrible, horrible things in their lives. and i think the longer we get alastor as a mysterious 5d chessmaster type of character without knowing his true motivations the more annoying it gets. again, nitpicks that almost certainly won't be a problem next season given the way they're setting up his character. you might not have even considered this to be a problem and think that i'm just being a fucked up little whiny bitch. lmao. it's just a personal thing. niffty i think doesn't have to have character development, as it stands she's entertaining enough by herself and i'm fine with having her run around the hotel with no discernible motivations. she's just havin fun
i think the vees are some really strong love to hate them villains. val obviously is a despicable piece of shit and im looking forward to seeing him get what's coming to him. i have no complaints in regards to them i think their moments were tied into the series very well and theyre interesting antagonists already. it's gonna be great seeing them come more into the spotlight in season 2. i will say that i think some of the time dedicated to exploring their characters could have been put towards the actual main villains of this season, heaven and the rest of the angels, but whatever. as i said before i think a lot of the major plot exposition could have been spread out. but in general i think the vees are really interesting
