I don't know if this is necessarily a translation ask but I was curious if you knew any more of the actual genders of the characters. There's a huge majority of the cookies who use they them or smth else in eng but I've heard a lot of them are mistranlated.

Yeah, the characters have already had an assigned gender before they're released but the Korean text doesn't use any pronouns and heavily infers their gender through voice or the context. An example would be Pure Vanilla who could've been mistaken as a female because his Korean VA is a woman, but the in-game dialogues, he refers to himself as a king confirming his gender is male.

And the cookies who use they/them do have an assigned gender in Korean, which makes the English version headcanons. (I already made a post about that here)

Another is Choco Werehound Brute, with he/she/it pronouns in English, who is also male. (I literally forgot to add the diva of all time.) I've seen that people(Western fans on twt especially)(There's always something wrong with them. It's Twitter.) get offended when other people "dead name" Schwarzwälder because he's "trans", which was never mentioned in the game.(They're heavily projecting and protecting absolutely nothing.) He is also one of the crk characters who are effeminate men. He loves wearing dresses while embracing his masculinity. His name in Korean is Charles which is his REAL name and he hates it when people call him that. The reason why he wanted to be reffered as Choco Cream Wolf Hammerman was because he wanted to sound intimidating and scary. In the episode where he was dresses as a princess, he was simply too deep in the princess act to break character.

I've already seen people (twt ppl again) use the excuse that "Cookies don't have gender," which is wrong because Korean text just doesn't use pronouns for them, but that doesn't stop you from headcanoning them in any way you want them characters to be.

the thing is, i don’t disagree that what and how you choose to write about things is a reflection of you, the writer, and cannot be divorced from your beliefs and biases. but to assume that anyone can perfectly pick out your beliefs from a piece of fiction you’ve written is an extremely weird and paranoid thing to claim, especially if you’re positing that the secret truth is that the writer is a dangerous person and they’re “revealing” that through fiction that upsets you, personally. at the end of the day, the artist is not the art, and no matter how upsetting, no matter how much you dislike it, no matter how much it disgusts you, you don’t know the person who made it and you can only guess how who they are shaped what they made.

like, really, is it more likely that the secret “belief” that’s being revealed when you’re reading something that is really upsetting to you is that the author is a secret Bad Person™️ who wants all of this fantasy to happen in real life, or that the author knows it’s a safe and normal thing to create upsetting works of fiction and so did that.

most writing about "popularism" mostly notes (correctly!) that the dems have a bunch of cultural issues that they skew quite left on that are unpopular which hurts them in the election, but then generally go and then define those that they skew left on to be ~basically everything around their own plan for the democratic administration

did the dems not really have a response for the (very obvious!) case where the republicans bring up trans issues and start hammering them as extremists? yeah. probably. did immigration hurt them? yeah, probably

but if you're writing about how the dems need to "moderate" while being the author of a book called quite literally one billion americans, or argue about how they need to focus on raising the birth rate (how?) or talk about how we need to spend political capital on "winning the AI race with china" or preparing the population mentally for the possibility of kinetic war in the taiwan strait then like. come on man. i too want everyone elses dumb unpopular ideas to move aside so that we could hide and push mine

SO many of Eridan's issues are tied up with Alternian society, specifically, that he's basically gonna wind up in OC-with-a-canon-skin territory in any situation where that pressure is removed. I'm not really the person to go to for that kind of thing; I'm a frothing-at-the-mouth canon purist 😂

No shade at all on the people who do like to mess around with AUs and the like, it's just not what I'm into. Even the meta fact that he's the Society Troll is significant to his character and place within the story and themes, so asking me to speculate about him when the Society aspect is removed is really not my boathouse, sorry.
