🥹🥹🥹THANK U FOR READING MY OURAN THOUGHTS... this is 1 of the first animes ive ever watched so its rly formative/influential for me and ive rewatched it several times over the yrs and noticed more things and watched my opinions of the show and charas grow and change... Haruhi is 1 of my first encounters(actually i think the first) w a nonbinary chara in media and I love everything about their chara and the way they were written (and I love the whole concept of them being the protag of a shoujo harem anime despite being nonbinary and very aro/ace... a host who woos girls at that)... I especially love the way she doesnt change herself for anyone, keeps being authentically herself the entire anime in a way that touches and changes the rest of the cast too... like 1 little detail that symbolizes this well is the personal pronouns they use in jp... Altho they tried using "ore" a few times causing tamaki to freak out (HE SHOULDVE LET HER😒).. the main personal pronoun they use is "jibun"(lit: self, oneself), and it's a gender neutral pronoun... and importantly, they consistently use "jibun", whether it's before becoming a host(in middle school, when passing/being seen as a "girl"), as a host(while passing/being seen as a "boy"), and just out in daily life... Just as she doesnt change herself or act differently in all those contexts, and is just authentically herself, regardless of how people see her... and consistent with her belief that gender and outward appearance doesn't matter, it's one's personality/who they are underneath that does...

Haruhi and Tamaki form strong narrative parallels to each other because they both suddenly came into the lives of all the other host club members, were able to see them for who they really are (and not just the facade they put on for others), and just by being their genuine selves, touch and impact them deeply, even alter the course of their lives (some more than others, like tamaki for kyouya and haruhi being the first 1 to be able to differentiate the twins)..... And this is why I think it's... unfortunate that Tamaki was written the way he was, as so close-minded in his views on gender(and sexuality), bc 1 of the core traits of his character is being otherwise open minded and extremely empathetic... the dichotomy of his chara is despite being a "vain idiot" obsessed w looks and himself, he still shows this surprising depth and ability to read others... And of course I don't think it's surprising at all for him to have these transphobic and homophobic views, given he's a teen with a rich sheltered upbringing and all, so it was prob just. Sigh. ingrained in him bc thats how he was raised but.... narratively, with the way his character is otherwise so open (and bro is literally bi too😭) it really is unfortunate... Like his openmindedness is 1 of the strongpoints of his character (like how he wasn't put off at all when he saw Kyouya's "true face"...) And I think it goes against his nature, so I hope that once he gets older he starts to listen to the trans/nb/gnc ppl in his life and change his views... LIKE HARUHI... WHICH IS WHY ITS SO STRANGE. That he never once listens to them abt their gender the entire series... and he cares abt her sm YET doesnt listen and repeatedly, stubbornly tells her shes wrong and that she needs to be more feminine.... ugh. Yeah it's painful... And then with the way the manga ends with haruhi marrying tamaki and having babies and growing her hair out and becoming more feminine, as if it was all just a phase... *Agonized* ...Tbh I really do think. That this is the product of the (presumably cis) author not knowing enough abt the trans(/queer/lgbt) experience to know what to do with the amazing, nonconforming characters they created... I really do feel like if Ouran was an anime made today, and the author was more informed about LGBT issues and experiences, Tamaki could've been written differently and maybe more accepting and open toward's Haruhi's views on gender... Sigh... Anyway rip. Tfw a work so virulently transphobic and homophobic and a product of its time can also have some of the most compelling trans and gay characters and have sm poignant scenes that stand the test of time... so the basics of their story is theyre in a post-apocalypse zombie setting... its been 5-10 years ish things havent really gotten under control all that much society at large is still very much broken down etc. etc.

cooper dahlia and elliot are three people sharing a large plot of what used to be farmland- dahlia lives in the main house, elliot lives in an old barn reconstructed to be a viable living space before the outbreak and cooper is... also nearby somewhere. its a little out of the way but close enough to a frequently used main route that people will come across them every now and then

cooper is a freak of a man whos sense of morality + justice has been twisted due to a relatively isolated upbringing + violence witnessed during the outbreak + subsequent downfall of society and he now believes he is the only one capable of rational morality. he sees himself as judge jury and executioner and anyone who he deems a bad enough person he kills and- i cant stress enough- feeds to the zombies, as he sees them as no longer being bound to human morality + therefore above it. he has a weird sexual relationship with elliot* + an... obsession with dahlia where he sees her as the only one able to pardon him for his actions

dahlia was a nun sometime before the outbreak and spent the first few years taking in and looking after lost and orphaned children. unfortunately being just one woman she was unable to really protect them and after some unfortunate events they were killed and as a result she has become bitter and hateful towards most other people. she views herself as weak while also believing shes the only one that knows what needs to be done and how to do it and as a result has taken refuge with the others, despite resenting + distrusting them, seeing them as a means to an end. she knows cooper is deeply unwell and knows the way he sees her should not be encouraged but tells herself it has to be done to protect everyone. i dont really have a solid dynamic for elliot and dahlia yet sorryyyy ive never been able to work it out >_< also she has a small vegetable garden + the vegges are used to trade with the others and w other travelers passing through for other things they might need

elliot is a social recluse who had agoraphobic tendencies pre-outbreak and the isolation + constant danger during the outbreak ahs made them extremely paranoid to the point of near delusion. they spent a lot of time traveling with other people for protection, having little to no allegiance with anyone + caring less + less about the actual people they were with as time went on, prioritising only their own life + safety. they eventually took refuge with cooper, but over time has grown to fear + resent him more than the people he kills, and in an attempt to keep themself safe is manipulating cooper to be more rash and less careful about the fights he gets into. cooper is aware he is being pushed into more fights but is unaware its in an attempt to get him killed so elliot can find someone stronger to travel with. they have weird + manipulative sex also. elliot is very handy + helps out with upkeep of the buildings + technology (filtering water etc.) in exchange for the food + protection offered by the others

i used to be obessively into mbti so here’s an analysis based on cognitive functions mostly.

SKIP IF YOU WANT. for anyone with no idea how it works, here’s a quick rundown: cognitive functions are about the way people think, process, and prioritize information, not necessarily how they act, though people who think the same way often act the same. the 8 letters that make up a type represent how people process and prioritize internal and external stimuli. every letter actually has an ‘internal’ and 'external’ form so there’s Thinking (internal(ti) and external(te)), Feeling (internal(fi) and external(fe)), Sensing (internal(si) and external(se)), and iNtuition(internal(ni) and external(ne)) t’s always go with a corresponding and opposite f (like ti and fe always go together), same with s’s and n’s (ex: si and ne always go together). a set of  t, f, s, and n in a specific order makes an mbti type.

neil: intp (ti ne si fe)

neil has incredible analytical ability although it’s very programmed for survival but he’s also a fast thinker and very quick to adapt to new environments. he also approaches things from original angles that other people dont consider, all that sounds like high ti/ne. the lower functions fit well too. in times of stress, he returns to old habits and falls back on what’s familiar, that’s classic low si. his emotions are also very exterior. he’s bad with other people from lack of exposure, but he’s committed to harmony between those close to him and has an impeccable ability to read the emotional states of others while being completely oblivious of his own, and his sense of self is tied to exterior things like exy, friends, keys, and legal documents (lol) that’s fe

andrew: intj (ni te fi se)

ni is really hard to describe but it has to do with being able to draw conclusions from scattered input, which fits with andrew’s uncanny ability to spot lies and obsession with finding out the truth, especially with high te, which is about spatial order and logic, think of how prioritized he is with the physical order of things: who sits where, who wears what, etc. a lot of people want to make andrew infj i bet as like a “subversive reading” but he’s definitely not. i used to be really close to an infj and they have hyper-empathy, as in she would describe not just caring about other people and being able to read their emotional states but literally feeling the things the people around her felt. this is a common result of the ni/fe combo, and the reason why andrew is definitely not infj. tertiary fi fits very well instead because andrew is deeply attuned to his own inner emotional state. he’s self-confident and doesn’t care about other people’s perception of him, but he’s also very concerned with his own feelings and understanding them, even if they’re repressed. he’s also very aware of his physical surroundings, which plays into his deductive ability, although it’s not his focus. that’s low se

kevin: estj (te si ne fi)

kevin is a classic estj. he’s controlling, demanding, and driven. he tries to control the actions of those around him and gets very distressed when things dont run smoothly, as well as having strong feelings about improving efficiency. high te people make great managers. kevin’s whole story arc is about breaking old habits, which is a very si problem. it has to do with trusting and craving memory and familiarity, and explains kevins need for endless repetition. he’s innovative, though, coming up with new strategies and drills (ne), it’s just based on what’s already familiar, and you can see him spiral into creating all possible worst-case scenarios when he’s stressed (low ne stress reaction, they like to be prepared). finally, he’s a dick, but he cares about other people and wants to improve their lives, as well as being very reliant on other people’s perceptions of him to define his own self-image (low fe)

dan: esfj (fe si ne ti)

dan’s top priority, over everything else, is her team. she wants her team to improve, she wants her team to win, she wants her team to work together. it’s all about the collective. we also see that she’s very open with others and makes a lot of effort to both make new ties and maintain old ones, that’s high fe. she’s sentimental and attached to the past too (si)  esp the photo wall, but we also see her very unwilling to let go of the past ie the monsters but eventually willing to change and grow to mend team cohesion (ne). we also see the fight in underlying logic (low ti) with her: she knows the team needs the monsters to cooperate but she cant figure out how to do it

matt: enfj (fe ni se ti)

so enfj’s experience infj hyper-empathy too, but to a slightly lesser extent (primary fe is more group cohesion, secondary fe is more understanding others), and through this we see matt’s easy-going open friendliness and ability to befriend even prickly little neil, because he has an extremely good sense of what other people are feeling and need, it also explains why he doesn’t hold a grudge against the cousins in the same way dan does, because he understands where they were coming from. se is associated with a general boisterousness for life, as it’s about experiencing the world around you, which explains matt’s happy-go-lucky disposition and puppydog behavior. the ti aspects mostly go into supporting fe/ni empathic senses

allison: entj (te ni se fi)

i mean, allison’s controlling, both in that she orders other people around and in that her physical being and space are very planned and organized (her clothes, her hair, her makeup, etc) but at the same time there isn’t much sentimentality to her, like how she doesn’t care when her car was destroyed. she easily replaces things because she cares about the object’s purpose, not its history and that all smacks of high te/ni. and i mean, the se definitely contributes to her love of designer things and killer looks, because she cares about the world immediately around her, and why live if not in luxury? and fi? is there any character more aggressively self-confident than allison reynolds?? going against her parents’ wishes for her takes a really strong, independent sense of self, but we also see the problems that can come from not worrying about other people, in how she starts fights and can be abrasive and catty

renee: infp (fi ne si te)

okay this one was really hard tbh. a list of other considerations: isfp, istp, and infj. it’s very easy to read renee as high fe because she’s kind, but i think it’s a mischaracteration of why she’s kind. it’s not because it comes naturally to her, it’s because it’s a conscious choice that makes her feel better about herself. high fi people often read as fe because they’re so comfortable with themselves and in tune with their own needs that they can then go and provide for others. i associate her religion with ne, because contemplation and acceptance of the divine later in life is a very metaphysical undertaking that undoubtedly requires a lot of abstract thought. renee’s storyline also revolves a lot around using things from her past and putting a conscious effort into leaving things from her past behind (how she still uses the skills she learned from her past in new ways ie sparring with andrew and protecting the upperclassmen v/s how she held on to her knives even when she knew it was detrimental to her moving on) this sounds like si. her protective instincts also feed into the te need for order, but it’s a looser leash than say andrew, as it’s lower on her function stack but still present

godd nicky is like a prototypical esfp. i mean nicholas “sex, drugs, and parties” hemmick cant be anything but se dominant. nicky is all about living it up and living in the moment. like he’s sporadic and ive seen it lead people to think he could be enfp but he doesn’t think enough about the meaning of things to be ne dominant (like how he makes somewhat predatory jokes and such, he’s all about the here-and-now while ne is about the past and future simultaneously). also he of all characters has incredibly prominent fi, as his whole character is about living unashamedly as himself as a gay man and the immense self-awareness and inner strength it takes not only to come out to unaccepting parents but also to leave and start a new life when they rejected him. however, fi is also indicative of his communication problems with his family, as he’s unable to tell that the cousins are fundamentally different from him in their needs and boundaries, leading him to pushing them, making them uncomfortable, and being unable to help them, because he’s unable to understand them. the rest are much more hidden, but a party boy shopaholic like nicky would probably need some amount of te order in like an organized chaos fashion (and he’s often headcanoned as liking to throw parties) and you do see him become somewhat pushy, even controlling in those scenarios. ni is the hardest but could maybe be seen in how he’s attuned to the cousins reactions for all that he cant predict them/doesn’t do anything on his own part to prevent them (the way he handles andrew is like if someone poked a rattlesnake knowing damn well what it would do and then freaked out when he got bit)

aaron: istj (si te fi ne)

im a little iffy on this one and worry it might be an analysis based on his trauma instead of complimentary to it, but aaron’s arc is about breaking out of his habit of holding on to the past. he refuses to work towards moving on from his mother’s death, refuses to listen to things that contradict his preconceived notions, and refuses to make changes in his life that could improve it. that’s unhealthy si. he’s really a very unhealthy istj, and most of his traits manifest through his unhappiness with his life. take his te. that would imply that he needs control over his surroundings, but aaron is incredibly bitter and unhappy BECAUSE he doesn’t have control of his surroundings. he doesn’t get to make his own choices, he doesn’t get to control his space, and he hates it. his relationship with katelyn is also indicative of being an istj. it’s stable, not a passionate fling, but aaron is mocked for wanting that white picket fence, married with kids in the suburbs kind of life, and his relationship, which is his primary source of happiness, is built on stability, which is a very si thing to do. in terms of fi, it is aaron that ultimately forces change between himself and andrew. he may have been pushed but he ultimately came down to him knowing what made him happy and what made him miserable and acting on that. also, he’s an ornery asshole who clearly doesn’t care what other people think of him. fi. i dont really have anything to say in terms of ne, probably because he’s so unhealthy but also because he’s not too explored. heyy istj’s make great doctors

wymack: isfj (si fe ti ne)

okay this one was genuinely the hardest to decide on but ultimately i came to the conclusion that wymack, much like renee, is such a developed person that he loses many defining traits of the functions, and can be read in many different ways. so: wymack’s primary goal is the safety and betterment of other people (ie his team). he wants to help people overcome their pasts, which is a very atypical approach to si, but is si nonetheless. on a personal level, too, he’s never able to move on from people, and specifically never moved on from kayleigh,  continuing their shared dream of an exy team for abused kids long after her death. as ive said before, fe in a secondary position is about deep understanding of other people, and wymack’s ability to understand what other people are struggling through is legendary. the ti mostly serves as support to the fe, serving as the analytical backup in allowing him to understand others. as for ne: he is most definitely an innovator with unusual ideas, or the foxes wouldn’t exist

riko: estp (se ti fe ni)

riko is basically what happens when an estp goes bad down to the core. he’s obsessed with personal glory and immediate self-fulfillment (se) he has no impulse control or fear of consequences. interestingly, high se is often associated with athleticism, because high se people are intensly focused on their surroundings (exy). his ti is also super unhealthy as he gets obsessed with ideas that dont really work with objective reality, like his obsession with ownership and power dynamics despite them not actually being efficient, even backwards. the tertiary fe he uses to manipulate. he doesn’t empathize with others, but he can tell their emotional state and what’s important to them, and uses it to coerce them and destroy their sense of self, like how he knew he could get neil to the nest by threatening andrew. EDIT: /additionally, fe people especially in the lower half of the function stack tend to derive their sense of self from the perceptions of others around them, which riko very much shows in how he needs to be acknowledged as the best and won’t allow any competition for his title, as well as his desperation for acknowledgement from his family/. finally, that ni allowed him to keep multiple plans in place focused on one ultimate goal: getting kevin back. the sheer amount of schemes he sets up in order to fool and push people the way he wants is honestly kinda impressive, but he’s a toxic shithead and im glad he’s rotting. definitely not representative of all estp’s

dean would either think boris was shady as hell or think he was just. SO cool. If we're talking kid boris dean would maybe try the hey kiddo thing but it'd be kinda like ben where he has to switch to a more frank approach because boris is so determined not to be delicate (and let's be honest he's pretended long enough it's become true). adult boris would think dean was a delight. he'd probably say something catty to theo about dean being his new best friend. sam would think boris was shady as hell!! no trust whatsoever immediately like Dean This Guy Is Bad News. boris would think sam was boooooringggggg but if he found out about either of the hot girl summers he'd be OBSESSED and pester him like what did demon blood feel like do you think i could try some would it kill me? all men who are not dean (and i guess sam) are just some guy to cas this is very boring. boris would think cas was funny in a wind up toy sort of  :/ jack would be freaked out by boris bc boris just unabashedly does shit jack has been taught is Wrong And Bad. boris would be suspicious of jack. too nice he must be up to something no one's just that nice because they're nice.

dean would be nice to pippa but idk if she'd stand out to him as anything other than another civilian until she mentioned she'd read the books (which. idk im not super attached to that idea bc it makes it hard to navigate how they'd interact) which like usual would freak him out a lot. unless its kid pippa in which case once again Hey Kiddo How's It Going Mode would be engaged. adult pippa would pity dean. books or not she just feels bad for him. sam and pippa would be very quickly like Hello Fellow Intellectual they'd talk about music and books and basically all the shit dean won't talk to sam about also i think if they talked long enough they'd end up talking about theo/dean and being like it just sucks he hates himself too much to just let himself be happy huh. if she's read the books she'd be respectful of their privacy and maybe assume that lots of it was dramatization… like just put distance between them and the characters she read about when she was a teenager. i think cas and pippa would get along pretty well. cas deserves some non winchester/winchester circle friends. idk what they'd talk about but i think they'd have a nice time. i think she'd be great with jack. i don't have much else to say i just think she's good with kids and more broadly good with people but it's hard to really know through the theo lens.

Nagi- I agree with you, I was skeptical because of how many people in the DR fandom love him so much, but like, this man was fine from the beginning. I'd say it was locked in when I found out he was dead and I literally wanted to CRY and I usually don't get so emotionally attached to characters like that.

Kichi- W e l l. Like I said, after playing the game I was still prreeeeeeetttyyyy ticked off about how he killed off my bug boy Gonta. Chapter 5 redeemed him a little bit, but the scales didn't really tip for me until after I started to really write for him. I'd say when I wrote "Self-Sabotage" is when the simpery was fully locked in. The reason I say this is because whenever I write, I like to get into the head of the characters; think about what they'd say, do, etc. Usually to do this, I open up a video of their voice files and free time events (it's kinda tough for me to write characters like Rantaro for example for this reason), and I started to understand him and his reason behind things better.

Chihiro- Alright, alright, alright, alright. So since I am bi, I already had kind of a crush on Chi when I thought he was a girl. Now mind you, this is the first DR crush I ever had and it's still going strong to this day! Unfortunately i had the reveal spoiled for me, but when I actually found out why he got killed and the moments leading up to it, my heart strings were TUGGED and I didn't want to leave my bed for the rest of the night. I respected him so much for wanting to become stronger, and I really FREAKING wish he lived at least a couple more chapters, god damn it. To this day, he's an inspiration to me, and I feel like we could all take a few notes about toxic masculinity from his trial. Real talk.

GUNDHAM TANAKA- when I heard his voice LMFAOOOOOO. Okay okay if we're being serious then I'd say during Chapter 4's trial is where I noticed that on the inside he's just a big softie and he rrally cares about his friends. He's more nice than he wants to let on, but he also wanted them to fight for their lives instead of telling them straight away. This struck me as he's a very complex character, much like his hard ass trial, and yeah.

Kiibo- His love hotel scene! Not much to say here, but, boy oh boy. It was just so ridiculously cute that like how could I not fall in love with this man immediately? I'm not going to lie, I find 95% of the DRV3 characters to be attractive, but he just stuck out to me (no offense Kee-boy, I'm not robophobic I promise ;w;). I also like how he took up responsibility in trial 6, even though that trial blows, but he was definitely my favorite part of it.

Shuichi- Not just the fact that he's my favorite protag of the 3, but I feel a lot more of a connection with him. After trial 1 I was pretty bummed about the whole Kaede thing, even though I did NOT see that coming, but Shuichi stepped up to the plate nicely. I think when I started simping for him officially is when he gathered up the strength in Ch4's trial to finally admit to himself and everyone else who the killer really was. I've never cried during a game, book, or movie, but that trial got me the CLOSEST to doing it because I felt a tear starting to form, seriously, and it didn't help that Razz was crying while I was watching the video as well. It was all around just an emotional moment and I'm happy Shuichi was able to keep himself together for the sake of everyone, even though everyone loved Gonta.

Honorable mentions-

Ryoma- Kichi took his spot in the top 6 lmfaooo but he is right behind them all at the #7 spot. When I learned his backstory my heart melted.

Rantaro- I can see why so many people guessed him, because as Ive said before and will say again, this man is FINE. If ik more bout him then yeah.

Kiyo- I swear to you all. This man was going to be my favorite in V3, but then they just had to to go anD FUCK UP HIS CHARACTER LIKE THAT- i'm fine.

Kaz- He's great, don't get me wrong, his obsession with pale blonde princesses is a little bit concerning, but we all have our flaws baby.

Kuya- i was simping for this man very very hard a couple months ago, but then I realized he would probably see me as a peasant and that made me sad. plus what he did in ch2 was kinda fucked up looking back.

Tires squeal and rubber burns A pathway forms more nightmare than real A knife ripping through reality, tearing at the tragic seam The road to Christmasland is paved in screams Your daughter transformed, while you ignore your wife's haunting cry Hold on, Good Father, for the ride of your life.

HOLY SMASH, and MERRY FREAKING CHRISTMAS!!!!! "Good Father," was the ride, the MIND TRIP of my LIFE, as chilling, as it was thrilling, screaming unyielding into the drastic extreme, blinding light, and drowning darkness, happy and horrible, beautiful, and brutal, and it was a ride I only just barely survived. This is me, breathing heavy, adrenaline pumping, my legs giving out, kissing the ground, and yet, I have never felt this conflicted, torn up inside, about anything I've ever seen, drawn transfixed to the effervescence, the beckoning dream, and yet eviscerated by the looming, blood-dripping grin of the abject HORROR. What the HELL just happened!?

Okay, breathe, Ally...... So much to say, and yet my mind is a trembling mess of disparity, driven in the Wraith to the edge of madness itself!!! First off, can we just marvel at the enigmatic force, the sheer brilliance, and other worldly acting prowess that is possessed by our Mister Zachary Quinto!?!? I am CONVINCED he is an actual Strong Creative, and has graciously drawn us all in, in order to witness him build his inscape, and speak actual MAGIC!!! Besides being a catastrophic kind of handsome, the dark allure that you long to destroy you, striking your eyes, and stealing your heart, making you his happy, breathless victim, Zachary shifts effortlessly between dream and nightmare, being beautiful and terrifying, waltzing between both, with a passion that will leave you shell-shocked.

This episode is so hard to analyze, because it possesses both the brightest, happiest, most achingly euphoric scenes of the series, while also the creeping, darkest hours I have ever known. It begins like a splashy, champagne, Downton Daydream, Our Beloved Charles, delighting and igniting our passions, with his adorable antics, donning a pair of matchstick fangs, and we all heave a lovesick sigh, longing so to be the girl in his arms, that he's playfully pretending to bite. You will ALWAYS be My Nosferatu....... I whispered it along with her, watching the joy pierce through the calm dark of those perfect eyes, and all I want is to be her, his wife, Mrs. Manx. I was so excited, so impressed by this coy wink to NOS4A2's own parent material, the original 1922 silent film, “Nosferatu,” upon which our mad fever fantasy is based, that I broke into the biggest grin, shaking my head at the pure genius of it. Charles' distaste for the picture, and scoffing opinion, mocking it, calling it ridiculous, was a pure, tongue in cheek, joy, and I'm still trembling from when he said, "Love Bite." Ooooh, and the scene in the bedroom was so intimate and beautiful, as Charlie and Cassie share their dreams for the future, along with a dance and a passionate kiss, as some wonderous news is revealed. The family Manx is to become three, with a little sugar plum named Millie!!!

I wept when Charles held his daughter for the first time, as I realized THIS is where his obsession with Christmas began, as he received the greatest gift of them all. Every time he "saves," a new child, he gets to feel it all over again, in the glow of the coloured lights, and the tinkling bells of the music, what it's like to be a father, and to be loved, unconditionally by a child. He gazes at her with the purest, most profound love, even while his Father in Law, treats him perfectly horrid, openly degrades him, and yes, in one heart-stopping moment calls him a vampire!!! I was SPEECHLESS!!! His bond with his daughter is so powerful, and endearing, I sobbed, the most joyous tears ever I have shed, watching him tuck his beautiful little girl into bed, and soothe her fears in the flash of a lightning strike, both of them carefully constructing Christmasland in their minds, never knowing they would find it beyond the realm of lost dreams. I felt so happy I thought I could die, so moved by this tender scene, so oblivious as to what lay in wait......... as we twisted slowly around the corner.........

It was jarring enough, flashing between these idyllic Currier and Ives scenes, all luminous oil paintings come to life, to Charlie's decaying, autopsied, Frankenstein creature, shuffling, groaning, bleeding, through the living world. And yet, that was rather interesting, the ghastly contrast between Charlie's wonderful life, and the re-animated husk of his gruesome death. I especially loved his joyride in the stolen zebra print car!!! That was hilarious!!! However, the turn that I knew was coming, that I dreaded, was far more stomach-churning, and desperately frustrating than I could have ever prepared myself for.

Again, Zachary's acting was mesmerizing, every expression, every wild look in his eye, was so beautifully, and breathlessly performed, but for me, it was the writing itself, that went screaming off the rails. Charlie goes from the perfect husband, the most charming, and doting father, to difficult, suspicious, and accusing, for seemingly no reason at all. The way he spoke about his first wife in Parnassus, I expected to see her become the begrudging, bitter ball and chain he made her out clearly to be. But Cassie's sins are few and far between, and her punishments, and especially her disturbingly MORBID end, are unjustified. She tries to be practical by asking Charlie very politely if she should get a job, to which Charlie responds with unprovoked venom, with the same malice as if she'd revealed she'd been unfaithful. Thus begins, this odd new trend of Charlie continuously overreacting, entirely out of character, and blaming Cassie for everything going so wrong, actively wanting to hurt her, even selling off her mother's priceless heirlooms. My head hurt, my heart broke, and my GOD something was rotten in Christmasland!!! I realized then, that this whole episode has the faintest cyanide taste of audience manipulation.

"Good Father," seems to serve the single and sole purpose of turning the audience against Charlie Manx, and I could feel the force of the plot, trying to shift my mind in that unnatural direction. I could see the clever scheme at work, the writing on the wall, as they must have thought....... They love him too much........ Let's give Charlie his BITE back. Let's take this beautifully unique, nuanced, wounded, enigmatic, anti-hero, and make them love him even more, show him in all the tenderness, and affection they have so long craved, let them fall in love with him all over again, and then........ let's make them hate him, see that he is beyond saving, the incarnation of the purest evil. Let's ruin him, and that's how we'll ruin them. WHY!? This is the question that has kept me up in relentless frustration all week. WHY spend all this time, crafting this fascinating, deliciously intricate character, learning the pains and joys and hopes of his life, just to laugh it off, and say, oh no, Charlie Manx is a monster, and you're wrong for liking him!? To them I say, "If loving Charlie Manx is wrong....... I don't wanna be right." Because in spite of the blood curdling atrocities, and my tearful horror in the face of such plot, I can't not LOVE Charlie Manx.

What I have always loved about NOS4A2, is the way it flirts with the elements of horror, skirting teasingly around the sharp edge without fully going there. The final scene however screams full speed ahead into that sickening foray, and I was left trembling, terrified, sobbing stricken with just that. HORROR.

"Charlie, STOP, you're going to kill us all!!!"

While I was confused as to whether it was his intent to kill them all, drunkenly crashing his Wraith, or if he knew what terror would transpire on the way to Christmasland, this was a ride none of them were coming back from. Its gut-wrenching, frightening images, are matched only by its lack of even a semblance of sense. Charlie watches, excitedly, as his darling daughter's teeth fall out in a bloody display, absorbing her youth, her lifeforce, transforming her into a soulless vampire, and he doesn't so much as bat one of his gorgeous eyelashes, as his child kills and feasts on her mother's flesh. Yeah, I know........ MORBID. I was also bewildered as to how the car turned Charlie into a vampire of youth, and Millie into one of blood. Also, call me crazy, but....... Does not one first have to die to become a vampire?

But even more a glaring folly, no way in HELL would Charlie EVER kill his family, his sweet baby, no matter how bad things were with Cassie. Wouldn't it make SO much more sense for him to steal her back, and thus wouldn’t he come to see kidnapping synonymous with “saving,” a child, if Millie was the first one? Instead of having him try to kill them all, if that even was his dark intent, I would have had Cassie and Charlie fighting in the car, and Charlie, distracted by the quarrel, swerve, losing control, accidently crashing the Wraith. Cassie would be too far gone, but through his connection to the car, his Wraith would fight to save him, even if it meant borrowing a little siphon of his own daughter's youth.

Yeah, hey, let's talk for a quick sec about The Wraith. We know Charlie's life is connected to this mysterious car, but what we didn't know was how he acquired it........ until now. I don't know about you guys, but having Charlie simply purchase it, felt cheap to me, like it took away the magic of the fated knife, that he was always supposed to have. Bought. Sold. Done. NO. I didn't like it, and it never proved evident of the bond between Charlie and his Wraith. I would have had him find it, since he couldn't afford a new car on his own, a carcass, old, disused, rusted, and lovingly restore it, nurse it back to health, to life, until it shined. Charlie has a relationship with this car, a supernatural tie, and to me that would have been so much better, so much more meaningful than him pawning his wife's valuables to buy it. Meaning anybody could have done the same. One thing I LOVED about that scene, however, was seeing our dear Charles in his resplendent royal blue and blood red Chauffer's garb for the first time ever!!!! What a sneaking joy!!!

That's the thing about this episode, it's a dangerously mixed cocktail of anti-depressants and alcohol. There's so much to love, so much to hate, and so much to work over and over, trying to figure, until the point of insanity!!! I LOVED everything between our Miniature McQueen and young, hot, plaid clad Charlie, (HELLO SYLAR, am I right!?) and my heart STOPPED when I saw him over Wayne's shoulder, my pulse on pause, as they talked, and Charlie tutted disapproving, at the boy having never had a Christmas, not knowing who he was, who his mother was......... The suspense, the tension, was riveting.

I don't know how I feel about this impressive effort, trying to get me to despise Bing less, by having him say propaganda like, "I thought I was so big, because I had too much sad in me." That broke my heart, and it was infuriating, because I didn't want to feel any sympathy for him. No NOS4A2, you cannot try to turn me against My Magnificent Mister Manx, and in the same space, try to get me to like Bing CREEPER Partridge!!!! The scene in the graveyard was exceptionally well done, and I'm still shivering from the hushed thrill in Charlie's voice as he whispers. "He needs saving, Bing Partridge, don’t you agree?"

"Good Father," was an even more thrilling prospect as a title to me than, "Bad Mother," because I always knew it was true. Although, in retrospect, one is more inspired brilliance than the other. Can you still be a good father, and watch proudly as your young daughter becomes a monster, devouring her mother? Can you still be a good father, and leave your daughter, after she thought you were dead for eight years? Charlie is a good father, that went down a BAD road, and has forgotten the way back, although he still dons every surface appearance, as such. I did like when he made Millie apologize to his new charge, and curtsy with a begrudging welcome, spoken through her gritted teeth. That was adorably paternal, and one hundred percent Charlie!!!! However, as a whole, this episode persists as the mystery I can't solve, making me feel every emotion possible on the human spectrum, drinking in the dream, blissfully intoxicated, and sobbing uncontrollably, terrified out of my mind, the next.

Charlie may not be, "The Good Father," he once was, but a glimmer of it shines like a forgotten ember in his obsidian eyes, and despite the glaring conclusion this episode emphatically urges you to make, I still hold that there is good in Charlie, and that he can be saved. I also think it speaks revelations toward labels. Vic is no more a scarlet letter branded Bad Mother, than Charlie is a Good Father. There is good and bad, hero and villain, in all of us. It just depends what roads we're willing to take.

this is kinda like, obsessed reporter peter, finally gets to meet his idol tony stark, but tony knows that peters madly in love with him and offers him a thing he couldnt possibly refuse, i added Paparazzi by Lady Gaga because 1 i love her and 2 the song is kinda like an obsessed paparazzi obsesses over someone, anyways enjoy.

Peter had been working at the Daily Bugle for a while, it was an easy job.

It was also his favourite part of the day, even better than being Spider-Man.

He got to see him every day.

It was a little bit of an understatement to say he was obsessed or crushing. There was no word that could even come close to describe how Peter felt.

He basically stalked Tony Stark, hanging on every word, getting a picture from every angle. Opening doors and secretly buying his coffee. He knew that Tony could afford it, but Peter got some sickly pleasure from doing things for Tony.

A pleasure that Peter felt would get worse if he were to actually do sexual favours for him. It was already hot enough to watch the look he gives him when Peter opens the door. Or the signature smile when he poses for pictures.

God don't even get Peter started on Tony's voice, a deep baritone. Every syllable and noise goes straight to Peter's sensitive ears and just.. does crazy insane things to him.

It makes him melt, the soft grunts he wished he could hear in the bedroom, the soft praised he gave to fans as encouragement. He wanted that.

He needed that.

He's craved it for years, and he sure as hell deserves it.

He's ignored all of his other assigned celebrities to photograph and interview, it was just him. Only him.

It eventually became a problem and he was fired, but he still followed Tony everywhere. Pretending to be a reporter, only to find out the information he could never ask as a professional reporter.

One day, Tony speaks to him. "Why don't we have coffee? You've been following me around for months. I guess you haven't gotten any answers."

Peter agrees immediately, desire pooling in his gut. He wanted Tony to take him to... anywhere private, bend him over any surface and fuck him senseless.

"Do you like your lovers in lingerie?

"What's your favourite position?"

"Daddy...."

"I've been waiting for so long, I need you."

Peter has to force himself from saying the filthy words in his head. His Spider Senses have been frying his brain, he's nearly overstimulated by the time Tony sits down across from him.

"So, you're obsessed with me." Tony starts, freaking the hell out of Peter.

"I-" He squeaks, setting down his notes. "I'm joking, it's your job to follow me right?" Tony laughs, the sound heading straight to Peter's cock.

Peter smiles, "Yeah, I'm a big fan."

Fucking understatement of the year.

"That's great, I love my fans." Tony beams back at him and Peter quickly wonders how soft his hair is.

He has to refrain from asking, smiling sweetly. "I love you."

His smile falters, heartbeat rapidly out of control and about to shatter against his ribs.

Tony chuckles. "At least let me buy you dinner first."

"I- I mean, your story! Sorry I tend to forget to finish sentences and make an ass of myself! I mean, you like changing your father's company and becoming Iron Man, a hero and legend. Fighting evil and saving lives." Peter trails off, somewhat sated as Tony's smile grows.

"Are you really a reporter?" He asks, twirling the straw in his cup.

Peter's taken completely off guard. "W-What? Of course I- fuck." He sighs.

"I was fired a few days ago, but I never finished my work on you." He says, and it's not technically a lie, or the truth either.

Tony sighs, a smile still on his face. "You're adorable kid. I understand it's hard losing your job, especially when you have to buy me coffee secretly without me knowing." Tony smirks.

Peter's frown grows. "I'll find another job, and I honestly thought I was smooth in buying all of those drinks." Peter says sullenly.

"Well I mean, you only bought me like 236 coffee's this year alone, so I guess I owe you."

fuck me.

"What?" Peter ignores the dark desire in the back of his mind.

"Hmm, let's see, around 250 drinks. I owe you 1,000.. 4-ish per coffee." Tony pulls out a wad of cash and Peter is speechless. Disappointed he wasn't offered anything else.

"I- I can't accept this." He mutters, suddenly remembering that he's been stalking his man for months, obsessing over him for years.

Taking money from him, with or without consent or knowledge seemed wrong.

"You can and you will, it's not even that much kid." He smirks then adds. "Gotta make a living somehow."

"I'd rather earn that money, Mr. Stark."

"Well, then we're in business Mr. Parker." Tony puts his hand out to shake and Peter feels like he's in a dream.

He's glowing with pride and victory, he could get whatever he wanted from a man wanted by millions.
