I was gonna keep these posts serious, but eh I’m just gonna post whatever.
That being said DAMN the rap scene has been crazy. When Like That dropped, I must admit, I thought it was stupid. But when shit started getting serious, I got invested HARD. Plus, this is giving us a LOT of new Kendrick, so win win. Here’s a random ranking of the songs
10. Taylor made freestyle - It uses AI vocals that not only sound like shit, but disrespect a dead person
9. This one’s gonna be controversial, but I gotta put the heart part 6 - This song was such a trash ass respone to meet the grahams. It was saying “ nu uh “ to some SERIOUS accusations, and in a way that gave us no reason to believe it
8. 6:16 in LA - I like this song, it just didn’t leave much of an impact. It’s good though.
7. 7 minute drill - I gotta admit, this song as a diss is WEAK, even more so considering Cole apologized. That being said, the song kinda slaps. The beat switch with the “ Conductor “ is really cool.
6. - Push Ups - This song was a really good comeback to Like That: it called out Kendrick for being slow on responses, and had some good disses ( I.E the drums diss )
5. - Like That - Like that is REALLY good. The beef starter itself, it had some HARD disses ( the big three line ) while bringing Kendrick back into the spotlight. It’s a really good song
4. - Family Matters - Despite this song getting HEAVILY overshadowed by a certain drop, Family matters is a BRUTAL diss. There are some serious allegations here aswell, and the song just sounds good overall. Plus, the music video referencing GKMC was cool.
3. Not Like Us - A crazy follow up to an even crazier diss. Not like us is a jammer that hammers on some allegations that people looked over. It’s a really good song
2. Euphoria - Euphoria was CRAZY. The slow start switching into that insane beat, the disses at Drakes parenting, and the pure levels of HATING in this song elevate it. Like, this level of hating is BEYOND me.
1. Meet the Grahams - Jesus… this song is insane. Kendrick reveals some crazy shit over an evil beat. Euphoria may have been pure hating, but this song showed us *why.* It is brutal while still managing to sound fantastic, and for that it is my favorite.
Alright that’s all for my rambling, if you have any thoughts reply and I’ll give em a look.

Hip-hop culture in 2024 has been marked by a surge in diss tracks and emerging artist rivalries. These unexpected conflicts, often ignited by scathing lyrical attacks, have captivated audiences and dominated music news cycles.
Megan Thee Stallion vs. Nicki Minaj: A Rap Feud between rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj reportedly had more than a disagreement after Megan Thee Stallion released a song that not only dissed Nicki Minaj but also her husband Kenneth Petty. Megan was afraid to take swings at including her exes and rapper Drake. Nicki Minaj responded on a live stream, and later released a diss track called "Big Foot." Fans were divided on who came out on top in the feud, with many crowning Megan the winner.
Eminem vs. Benzino: A Rekindled Feud This March, Eminem allowed his longstanding feud with Benzino to reignite before blowing out the flame and ending the beef. Benzino, who has publicly dissed Eminem for years, took things a step further by expressing his dislike for the rapper on social media and dissing him. Eminem responded with a diss track, "Doomsday pt2," which garnered significant attention despite having the fewest views compared to his other diss tracks. Notably, Eminem reached number 10 on YouTube's trending list for a few days. Even before the diss track's release, many fans considered Eminem the winner of this round.
Chris Brown Vs Quavo: The beef between Chris Brown and Quavo stems from a love triangle. In 2017, rumors swirled that Quavo was dating Chris Brown's ex, Karrueche Tran after their on-again, off-again relationship ended in 2015. This sparked a feud that continued until 2024 when both artists exchanged diss tracks.
Drake Vs multiple artists: Drake found himself embroiled in a multi-faceted feud with several artists, many of whom were once friends or collaborators in the past. The tension stemmed from allegations of Drake's "sneak dissing" on other rappers. This sparked a wave of criticism, with artists like Metro Boomin, Future, Megan Thee Stallion, ASAP Rocky, Rick Ross, The Weeknd, Kanye West, and Kendrick Lamar all taking aim at Drake on various platforms. Drake responded with diss tracks of his own, including a leaked track titled "Pushups" and another one targeting Kendrick Lamar that featured AI-generated vocals of Snoop Dogg and Tupac.
The long-running feud between Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and J. Cole has been a hot topic in hip-hop this year!
It all started when J. Cole and Drake released "First Person Shooter" claiming they were the best of the big three, seemingly aggravated, prompting him to take shots at both Drake and J. Cole on Future and Metro Boomin's "We Don't Trust you" album and song "Like that" despite having less than a minute on the song Kendrick stole the spotlight by having the most bars on the song.
J. Cole responded with a diss track called "7 Minute Drill" on his album "Might Delete Later," criticizing Kendrick for supposedly falling off. However, J. Cole later apologized and removed the song from streaming platforms.
Drake, on the other hand, doubled down with two diss tracks, "Pushups and Taylor Made," aimed at both Kendrick and other artists who criticized him.
Kendrick responded with his own diss track, "Euphoria," which racked up millions of views within 24 hours. He showcased his lyrical skills by turning every line into a bar, even using the song title as a hidden message.
He then released "6:16 in LA," mocking Drake's performance style and song titles. Fans speculated about hidden meanings behind the title itself once again, suspecting it to be at least 9 different easter eggs within only the song title itself.
The feud escalated further with Drake's "Family Matters," where he addressed allegations Kendrick made about him and made counter-accusations.
Kendrick countered with "Meet the Grahams" pushing even more controversial allegations about Drake's personal life and sending a message to each of his family members. Kendrick didn't stop there, however, he further pushed his agendas(allegations) by following up with "Not like us" which dominated YouTube for three weeks trending at number 1 and ranking up 59 million views.
Kendrick has once again come back to create earthquakes in the hip-hop world just like he has done in the past with his verse on "Control".

some thoughts on the beef...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, i will preface this by the admission: i did my masters thesis on kendrick lamar.
so the bias runs deep. from the moment in 2013 when i first listened to bitch, don't kill my vibe and realised he'd perfectly encapsulated the idea of get your noise away from me, kendrick became a key figure for me. my entire adolescence was characterised by the releases of to pimp a butterfly and DAMN.
i was born and raised christian, but i only started to fully explore that after listening to faith.
i was born and raised in an egyptian household, but i only started to fully identify with what that means after complexion.
my highschool teacher once said to us that there will be no amount of growth in a time period unlike from your 18th to your 21st. and i can testify this. DAMN came out when i turned 18. mr morale and the big steppers came out after i finished being 21.
and, as always, kendrick knew what i needed. that a song about the lifelong affects of trauma and dealing with grief, with pain, with shame. i remember listening to mother i sober for the first time and bursting into tears on my bedroom floor because i never thought he would actually go where i needed him the most.
and now, we're here. that dr*ke is a pedophile. i won't censor that word, but i will censor his name. his artist name deserves no more respect. if anything, it should be that aubrey is a pedophile. and whilst these allegations still need to be proved to be true with evidence, i think it's worth noting something.
kendrick's suffered from the affects of abuse. why would he make light of it and throw them around so carelessly?
if anything, we've seen how nothing he does is careless. everything is so carefully thought out, so methodically thought out with even the most minute details being considered with the utmost deliberation.
aside from that, there's too much pain for that to be the case.
this could've been a good example of the sport. it's what it started out as. it's not worth going through all the subtle disses kendrick has dished out in his career. if anything, his pulitzer prize should be enough proof that a rap diss could remain as is; a rap diss.
but this wasn't a mere rap diss. this was mr morale in action and providing a real life example of the stories and themes he explores in his songs. the affects of unchecked corruption within the self. the affects of generational trauma and how the cycle continues - unless you stop and look in the mirror.
-- + -- + --
we should've known
how a son was finally shown
like the apple with the bruise
it's all coming loose
treat the world like your whore
only for it to reveal
your rotten core
(pls, seek him. heal.)

As someone who is having to work through the aftermath of child abuse and lived through poverty, Kendrick dissing Drake is SO validating. I know it's not for me specifically, but him actually using his platform to call people like this out, saying people like Drake should ACTUALLY DIE gives me hope.
it's good to know there are people out there that not only don't approve of abusers and predators, but actively want them gone. It makes me feel safer, braver in a weird way.
Seeing everyone take Kendrick's side, seeing Drake fans (I wish yall peace and happiness) saying they're embarrassed they ever listened to someone like that, it makes it even more so. It only adds to the feeling of safety. Like everything is going to turn out alright.
