Miriam huffed as the strap of her Prada straw tote slid down her shoulder as she made her inside the restaurant. Jack was with Drake in the studio and she stayed back in the airbnb reading and rehearsing for a self-tape audition. Jack called her that he was sending a car so that because Drake invited him and some friends for dinner. She would've just brought small bag but Jack todl her to pack for the beach because he had a romantic night stroll planned for them.

"Do you have a reservation, miss?" Then hostess asked her.

"Uh, yeah for Graham?" Miriam said.

The hostess look down at the reservation log. She found Drake's reservation and nodded. "Right this way."

She led Miriam to a room in the back. Jack got up with Drake following behind. Miriam kissed Jack's cheek, the universal Latino greeting, and gave him a side hug. Since people still didn't know about them dating, they kept all PDA to a minimum. And agreed to cheek kisses because she's Mexican and they do that with friends and family.

"Aubrey." Miriam gave Drake a curt nod.

"Dominguez, still a Warriors fan?" He asked.

"Still think you play for Kentucky Wildcats?" She smiled innocently.

"I like her." Drake told Jack, sipping his cocktail.

He walked back to their table. Miriam noticed a group of women that she didn’t recognize at their large table.

"Who are they?" She asked Jack.

"Jealous?" He smirked.

She rolled her eyes. "No, I just want to how buddy-buddy we have to act."

"Drake had them sign NDAs before they entered the dining room." He shrugged.

"As precaution, I guess you're my amiguchis!" She dramatically plastered a kiss on his cheek. She pulled out a small ball of fabric and handed it to him. "These slipepd off in the car. Can you hold on it until later."

Jack frowned then looked at them more closely and realized they were the bikini bottoms she wore when he called her about the car taking her to the restaurant. They had phone sex, well Miriam touched herself while Jack guided her then she hung up because she had to pick an outfit. Jack groaned, knowing it was going to be a long dinner.

After scrolling through their blog, I found a piece of artwork that was for Aubrey x Hero. This ship is very morally wrong because Aubrey is 16 while Hero is 19

And on their Twitter account I found out they also retweet JunKan (Junko x Mikan). What I also found was artwork made by setosexual, tamatona3, and snuflin on Twitter (both somewhat well known Sunny Side Up shippers, again this ship being a proshipper ship due to the age gap)

They also tend to draw Mari and Aubrey a lot together, though I’m unsure if this is ship art or just in general art, I would be weary though

2) Questionable Aubrey artwork

While scrolling through their blog, I found out they draw Aubrey in very questionable scenarios

The art they make is eyebrow raising and this especially worries me considering not a lot of people really take a notice to this, and from what I found, the artist has hidden comments before.

Ha, I’d always figured if Javert ever attempted humor (post-Seine maybe) the best (as in even recognizable as an attempt) he’d manage would be puns, since… for one in the 2012 movie he’s played by Russell Crowe who played punning monster Jack Aubrey, and also… most kinds of humor, if you want to make them land, it helps to know your audience, go off something you both know.., and what Javert has experienced seems kind of. Um. Limited. Puns, though? Take a word, replace it with a word that sounds similar. Javert has read books. Javert has Got This.

(Which is not to say he wouldn’t still hate them, mind.)

Why I like him: Because he is good to his men. Because he took Stephen in. Because he laughs at his own jokes. Because he is a genius at sea and an absolute child on land. Because he is loyal. Why I don't: I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. (Ok, maybe because he tends to think with his dick sometimes) Favourite episode/scene: Pretty much any time Jack tries to explain something nautical to Stephen. Favourite season/movie: (book in our case) I honestly can't say. The one I re-read most recently was The Mauritius Command, so let's say that one. (I have a soft spot for Lord Clonfert, the sorry asshat) Favourite line: "What a fellow you are, Stephen." Favourite outfit: The dead bear OTP: I'm gonna be boring and stay Sophie. BROTP: I'm gonna be even more boring and say Stephen. Although I'd read an entire book with just Jack and Killick in it, just for shits and giggles. Head Canon: As they grow up, Fanny and Charlotte go full Fred and George and mercilessly mess with their poor father. Serves him right for underestimating them. HMS SURPRISE; class: Frigate / Sixth-rate guns: 28  9-pounders souls: 197 by movie statistics, but she needs a crew between 150 and 200 to sail.  relevant crew: Jack Aubrey important info: HMS Suprise is a larger sixth-rate with her 28 guns but still considered a small frigate. She is French built; going by the name of Unité before being captured by the British. During the time period during which Master and Commander unfold, sixth-rates were rather rare, and you can catch Jack Aubrey defending the Surprise at every corner. Try him, let me have a good laugh.

HMS INDEFATIGABLE; class: Frigate / Sixt-rate guns: 28 9-pounders souls: 230.  relevant crew: Archie Kennedy important info: The crew on board of the Indefatigable will always refer to her as ‘The Indy’ rather than her full name; at least when this is permitted. Even if the Indefatigable doesn’t classify as a ship of the line the reputation of the ship proceeds her. Due to the very capable hands on board, as well as the reputation of captain Pellew himself.

HMS DAUNTLESS; class: First-rate / Ship of the line guns: 100 9-pounders souls: 850 up to 900 relevant crew: James Norrington important info: Used by Weatherby Swann and Elizabeth Swann when they made the crossing from England to the Caribbean, with James Norrington as a Lieutenant serving on board her. Later, after the loss of the Interceptor, the Dauntless would become the flagship commanded by Commodore Norrington. The Dauntless is terrifying and without a doubt the most impressive ship on the list with the exception of the Flying Dutchman herself, but ghost ships hardly count, even if she still barely classifies as a first-rate due to her limited number of guns.

HMS INTERCEPTOR; class: Brig guns: 16 9-pounders souls: 155. No question. relevant crew: James Norrington important info: While the Dauntless might be the true power on the Caribbean waters, the Interceptor was without a doubt the fastest in the fleet. Captain Norrington used her as his flagship during his legendary pirate run before the events of the original POTC trilogy. Her class focuses on improving speed as well as manoeuvrability and even if historically pirates often used brigs for these reasons; the use of brigs by pirates in the Caribbean was limited, making the Interceptor perfectly capable of outrunning them during the chase.

ORIGINAL SHIPS; ships created to fit within the timelines of my original characters.

HMS ATLAS; class: Frigate / Fifth-rate guns: 32 in total. 26 18-pounders and 6 9-pounders souls: 245. Needing between 215 and 290 to sail relevant crew: Jackson Ayers  important info: While not a ship of the line, the Atlas was used during various battles with the Dutch; as well as the Spanish. An old ship by comparison but kept in good care by her captain. Never short on hands due to the promise of prize-money and adventure, for the good captain Voles his reputation as a man not afraid to throw himself into dangerous situations is well known.  

SANTA ROSA; class: Sloop-of-war guns: 24 9-pounders souls: 155, while the Santa Rosa can sail with around 130, Adelé is known to hire extra hands, especially female hands in need of a voyage or an escape. relevant crew: Adelé DesRosiers important info: Stolen from the British Navy while landed in Clew Bay, Adelé changed the name of the Jupiter to Santa Rosa in homage to her Spanish roots. Outfitted with a few extra guns as well as extra hands the Santa Rosa is a ship worth keeping an eye on. Nothing too impressive or extraordinary about her, with the exclusion of Adelé her own foolish risktaking / the captain is without a question the most dangerous thing about the ship.

Whump Challenge Day 3:

Top 3 whump scenes and why

1. Aubrey/Maturin novels, book 3 (HMS Surprise): Stephen's captivity/rescue. Stephen is a British spy in addition to his career as a naval surgeon, and in a rare lapse of caution is not only found out but captured and tortured by the enemy. He is literally put on a rack (a St Catherine's wheel iirc), beaten, fingernails pulled out. And, god. His total resignation, his ready acceptance that no one is coming for him, that this is just an occupational hazard. Stephen is a little like Spock at times, like you look at his dead calm in the face of something horrifying because logic and go "...HOW?" And you are so, so attached to him at this point. He's seemingly callous outwardly but actually very sweet once he's bonded with people, quietly intelligent, socially awkward af, a total n00b re: anything nautical (and the question he asks trying to learn have a charming innocence to them), just generally a gruff cinnamon roll that Jack and the crew in general will fight and die to defend. And he is a wreck when they finally get to him, nearly dead. Everyone is freaked out, Jack climbs up there to cut him down, and the only thing Stephen can get out is a weak "handsomely, Jack" -- his equivalent of "catch me." He cannot move, every touch hurts, but you can feel the surprise-relief-affection as his best friend and a small horde of battle-hardened sailors suddenly become carers. (Also he and Jack had had a HUGE fight the book before that almost ended their friendship and it just gives you such warm fuzzies when they're back to calling each other "brother" again.)

2. Speaking of Spock... Star Trek II. A lot of the same friendship/loyalty elements of HMS Surprise, without the happy ending. It combines physical and emotional agony in a terrific conflict of affection, necessity and priority.

Spock in pain is a bit like Stephen in pain, like that's our cinnamon roll right there. And the helplessness and desperation coming off of Jim mixes with that in a painfully sweet (sweetly painful?) way, even with a touch of guilt because Jim has got to be saying to himself "holy shit I probably shouldn't have poked that bear." And I don't care what anyone says, I appreciated the hell out of the role reversal in Into Darkness.

3. M*A*S*H season 8 episode 22 (Charles's dream)

This episode features a look into the major characters' PTSD dreams, and while the whole thing has some solid emotional whump, Charles's dream is the one that rips out your heart and soul and drop-kicks it into the sun. While many of the others experience the war leaking into their civilian lives (Margaret's wedding dress is suddenly drenched in blood, Hawk finds himself on a lake flooded with amputated parts, a ballroom fades gradually into the OR as BJ dances with his wife), Charles himself is what's suddenly different, suddenly wrong. He's dressed in a clown outfit, mute as a mime, walking through a hospital from surgery to surgery. Standing over one maimed body, he pulls an endless string of scarves from his sleeve, looking around at everyone present, even the patient, as if looking for approval. No one reacts. He moves on to the next patient. He pulls flowers from a hat, and is met with indifference again. He moves on, and the scene repeats. As he goes from patient to open, bleeding patient, he becomes increasingly, visibly distressed at the ineffectiveness of his magic tricks until finally he wakes up.

Unlike our friends from my first two picks, Charles is downright unbearable most if the time. He's snobby, condescending, and rude. His bedside manner is shitty. He openly disdains almost everyone, and doesn't seem to care if anyone dislikes him too. And he never shuts up. Particularly about his oh so superior surgical skills. And seeing this dream, you realize two things. First, that Charles doesn't have a civilian life. Everything he does, says and is outside his Boston hospital is superficial. Country club, board functions, society events, none of it really means anything. He has things he's passionate about--opera, classical music--but he's entirely in the consumer role where they're concerned. He can't produce it himself, can't interact closely with it. He's the Super Special Amazing Harvard Graduate Rising Star Surgeon, and that's the sum total of his existence. And in the face of the neverending stream of wounded, this job that never ends, that you get no attention for and can't be promoted out of, that now means nothing. Second, that he actually is cognizant of the human suffering around him. His Boston Brahmin superiority complex annoys the piss out of everyone, but it also effectively insulates him from the pain that comes with genuine empathy. And he clings to it aggressively because be doesn't know how to be part of a team and it's the only coping mechanidm he's got. It doesn't excuse it, but it does make that helplessness and hurt that has gotten through stand out more, seem all the more devastating on the few occasions you get to see it. (You get to see it like. Three times. In his whole tenure.)

Am I glad to return to the political big picture! It's such a relief that the finale is in this format! Hopefully it won't devolve into another “fighting a giant robot” scene.

Oh, so the Chime are leading the faction game now! Somehow I completely missed the point of the two previous scenes that indicated Aria becoming the new leader of the Righteous Vanguard – I was very surprised and then 10 minutes later went “Oh that's what it was, time to go back and relisten”

Pronoun update: Austin consistently uses “they”, Art consistently uses “he”. End my suffering…

The sheer comedic impact of seven Makos, Larry and Lazer Ted all in a room together has healed my soul immediately. Can we end on this image so nothing bad happens

Oooh the relationship drama~ But how come Jacqui didn't know Jill was alive? Actually, now that I think of it, back then it was clearly said that Jacqui knows Jillian is back and is sad because Jillian doesn't remember her. This show's retcons…

Look I know shit must hit the fan pretty soon but for now this finale is just. So relaxing. I'm having a lot of fun listening to these squabbles. (The only exception were Mako and Orth – boys, stop fighting, why!)

That Cass & Aria scene was cool but please don't give me world leader old friends sneaking away for secret stress relief sparring sessions when I'm not supposed to start shipping them

Oh hell yeah, I was hoping that since Jacqui went with Jillian, Aria would go with Ibex. (Not very relevant here, but Ibex is from Kesh like Maryland, right? If so, there must be fanart of young Ibex and Maryland in 19th century outfits?)

Mako doesn't like dancing now…… holy shit this is the most upsetting ball ever… (The cynical part of me must say that it's only Austin who talks about this connection, Keith doesn't and still sounds way less emotional about the whole thing than the others assume Mako to be)

I amend my previous statement, I also need fanart with snapshots of every dance: Orth firmly taking Ibex's hand and receiving a surprised but approving look, Jillian throwing her head back in laughter and Jacqui watching with a pained smile, sullen Mako leaning on a wall cross-armed and looking for an opportunity to slip away, Cass dropping his one-liner with a completely dispassionate face.

Wow Ibex is really getting ready for death. Sounds as if he knows the exact date.

HOLY SHIT THE DIVINES' ORIGIN STORY!!! FINALLY!!! I'm surprised they were all created by the same person…

I'm relieved Mako and Orth are on good terms again!

I love the new Aria as this competent politician who does a lot of swordfighting and dealing with old flames

Have I mentioned I really love the game they're playing? It almost synthesizes the best parts of the game they played previously – as if it was written just for this finale. It's so great how this show and specifically this campaign go through so many games, showing the universe and the characters from different angles, instead of having them be defined by only one game system and its limitations and quirks.

That's some real good mech if it can function for 80,000 years, Divines' body or not!

Okay, I fucking knew Liberty and Discovery would split up at some point (which is what I meant above by my expectations for AuDy's fate), but why is Liberty attacking Ibex?

Mako's robots!!! :DDD Now that's the real finale shit!

I CAN'T BELIEVE Keith missed Tower's brief appearance of all things. It's like a fucking scene from the show on the level of dramatic irony. They were truly not meant to be, even the universe in real life is saying that. Do you ever get rejected so badly that the guy you like runs away from you at the prom, and then lets you fall into a deadly portal with the rest of your planet, and then you get brainwashed, and then you are killed by an ally of that guy, and the person playing him doesn't even witness that?!

I thought Orth was going to challenge Kobus about Liberty…

Every time it is asked what is Mako wearing I just mentally pull out the popcorn

Let me restate how much I'm loving how the scenes that in any other show would be minor fluff or short summaries in an epilogue are a legit fully rendered part of the finale

So what happened to the idea of Mako hacking Grace?

They just… went and straight up murdered two Divines… If it had happened early in the show I'd probably cheer, and no tears were shed for Grace, but Liberty… Just take a third of another player character and drive it into a sun…

Of course. I knew Sokrates is the kind of character who dies nobly in a grand finale.

I've spent all this time wondering how the piece of Voice in Mako doesn't get infected by Rigor, and it seems to finally happen and Larry seems to die repairing it, but what about all other Makos, aren't they in danger too?

This is way too easy so far, just sacrifice NPCs one by one to win.

This whole time I was assuming Mako saved as many clones as he could, not just his own… If he gets another turn I bet it's submit or die :/

Hello I'm crying over Lazer Ted! Choices in the campaign sound futile now: who cares which guy Mako saved – they both died anyway! All named NPCs did!

Except for Jacqui. Congratulations, the NPC Who Lived! (I mistyped “loved” at first, which is also relevant. And yes, I cried here too.)

How the hell would falling into a sun kill Rigor if it was previously not killed by a bomb that destroys hundreds of suns?

Poor Cass… Not only sacrificing yourself in such a difficult way, but to have a final conversation only just to learn that your friend, a passionate revolutionary further empowered by Righteousness, has deserted… The sheer contempt and disappointment he pours in just three words “Ibex told you”...

Welp. Mako's fate was not tragic like I feared! Good news I guess, but it's still kind of sad. And I think the saddest part is that Mako himself doesn't realize. Because it can just sound like the natural continuation of his character growth – after he had to learn to be the responsible one first in contrast to Larry and then to the other Makos. I didn't like the final battle as much as the rest of the finale – I hoped for a more clever solution than just throwing bodies at the enemy (but I guess the intro warned me lol…). Especially since these bodies had very unequal impact – I'm not going to care about Diego Rose or Chet Wise or Orth's newly-created lieutenants or as much as I care about Jacqui -- so it felt unfair towards players/characters who had more important or likeable chracters in their faction. I'm opposed on principle to making the big confrontation feel important and emotional just by killing off characters (hi, J. K. Rowling and Russo brothers), I think it's cheap and emotionally manipulative, but in this case the emotional manipulation doesn't even work so it’s doubly disappointing.

If someone's reading this, you can see that what I expected or wanted from the story was not what it gave me, and that was frustrating or disappointing at times. But nevertheless, it was a wild ride.

I've slept on it and it still fucks me up that out of the Chime only Aria gets a genuinely happy ending! Cass is fucking dead, Liberty is dead while AuDy becomes a ghost, and Mako loses everyone and is lonely for the rest of his life!

It's so strange to listen to the opening theme in the post-mortem and think that this is the second-to-last time. (Relistens don't count, it's not the same thing.) By the way, I love that theme – it sounds like a half song with the words on the tip of my tongue, like space, or like city at night. Really atmospheric.

I love how everyone continues to be into that moment where Aria has the opportunity to kill Cass lol (I am too)

After a sad talk about Mako's dead friends, Andi, cheerfully: “I love to kill and I love to hurt and I never regretted anything I ever did! :D” which won the least surprising comment of the hour award lol. Honestly, after that one scene with Diego I started to get a bit nervous whenever Andi announced they had an idea… C/w was fun because I now realize the cinnamon roll Aubrey was actually them playing against type.

I love that someone asked about Mako's first kiss and/or Orth's fandom life!!

Keith's answer is sad, though… He “had literally never considered Mako even being capable of kissing someone, like it wasn't something on the table” and that was unexpected to me. I'd mentioned several times that he sounded reluctant to play up the romance, but I was assuming it was the player's preference, not an innate trait of the character whose attraction to someone was a part of his character creation. How do I interpret it? Mako is aro? Mako never had a chance to properly grow emotionally because his youth was fake and for the rest of his life, all emotional connections were sabotaged by Rigour's shadow, and also literally all his potential love interests died? Ugh, I just keep making myself more and more upset.

It's nice to hear Ali talk about her growth in confidence as a player because she's definitely kind of an inspiration – for years I've thought tabletop roleplaying is too intense and I'll never do it, but when I finally tried out it was not so scary, so maybe there's hope for me too!

The concept that the real challenge of the final battle was that the easier it would be to defeat Rigor, the worse shape would the world be afterwards sounds much better than what that battle actually felt like to me. Instead of paying for victory with the health of society and their faction's political power, in the actual gameplay they paid with NPCs from their circle and that was it; the political consequences came later and sounded entirely unrelated. Maybe if they had to go against their faction's goals or sacrifice its assets – e.g. “use Minerva's Rigor-tech mechs in exchange for the promise to leave them alone afterwards” instead of “sacrifice all Mako clones”… Aria had something similar with Weight, but it was the price of Jacqui's life, not the price of a victorious battle against Rigour.

It's very cool to learn where the sound effects in the theme come from! And god, every line as its own take? My head hurts just imagining that…

Just because English doesn't have exact analogies for the Apostolosian pronouns doesn't mean everyone who uses them isn't following their own society's conventions. And now Austin also's saying “We never wanted to say these pronouns are equivalent to gender” which is, a, not true, and b, sends the whole problem back to square one – because if that's not the Apostolosian gender then what is? This! Is! A! Mess!

I recently got into this TV show called "X-Men: Evolution" and I made a new OC to go along with it.  This is Gemma! Gemma Adeline Xavier. 10: What’s your biggest writer pet-peeve?

Formatting. I was homeschooled and regrettably my family was never able to fully convey how paragraphs and spaces work (among other things. *shade*) . I can write for hours but dealing with the mechanical stuff drives me up a wall.

In creating things, building up lovely layers of sexy tension and then being unsure as to where to go next (well, whose hand goes where, who’s moaning or wriggling and who needs lube?) This is kind of a sideline to that but also remembering who’s holding or not holding what, (i.e. you have to put down that goblet if you want to spank someone!)

Personal moments:

The feeling I had when I wandered around the art gallery myself as a young me. The museum was in a replica of an Italian palazzo (seriously!) and I used to go because I could get in for free being twelve or under. I’ve never forgotten walking through the halls, going to the vault where they had armour, curling up on the benches near the reliquaries in the medieval wing, talking to the Greek and Roman statues, swooning over the Orientalist art and the Alma-Tademas, saying hello to my favourite amethyst falcon in the Egyptian section. It was a place I always felt safe, protected and surrounded by beauty. I’ve always been grateful that the staff was gracious about me being there. It meant the world.

Being at the RenFaire for the first time when I was ten, not being allowed to go back and then getting to when I was an adult and realizing it was still damn magical, costumes anachronisms, fried things and ludicrous things and exquisite beauty all tumbled together.

Oh my—it’s kind of a mishmash here, but I’d love to have Michael Manning do the graphic novel of  _The Wolf-Girl Who Longed for the Sun_. Lots of Westerosi smut in glorious art.  For writing collaborations, I have a few ideas… 50: If you could live in any fictional world, which would it be? ….Narnia! (1) No, despite its problems, Westeros. I know the languages, the food and where everything is.  I have a nice summer villa near Lannisport . There’s a pool, nice trees, a library and very enthusiastic tailors, jewellers and merchants who make me glam things. (I gained my fortune through good connections, a few ribald songs and bringing Westeros the platform heel.) Come on over.

I'm finding myself most excited to read about the women in Aubrey-Maturin. I've always liked Diana, and I'm interested in stuff like, how can I say this, the female household that they're living in when Jack and Stephen are at sea, Diana's longing for and seizure upon any kind of freedom she can find and whether or not she thinks the persona everyone knows is "her", Clarissa's way of seeing and moving in the world. I'd love to read something where any of these combinations (or solo) have something to make choices about and show their strengths and desires. Espionage-related adventures or other small-scale casefic, encountering men in society that Clarissa knows from her previous life, dealing with a problem as a family/household? Diana learning her way around Boston or Sweden, or picking up new extreme sports? AU where women can be in the Navy and we get to see what they'd be like as sailors or officers??? (I'd prefer that we see them at a point where they are not at odds over romantic issues with men.) If writing Clarissa/Diana specifically, I'd love something of their POVs/voices on the idea of lesbianism, if that makes sense, but I also am perennially into the ways that f/f couples could live together in history without occasioning comment (they're raising a child together because they're such good friends and one is a widow while the other's husband is always away, of course).

Tonker/Lofty/Mal or Tonker/Lofty/Polly - These just seemed like ships that would be interesting to see - I guess I imagine them as being short-term given Tonker and Lofty’s one true love, but I’d be interested in seeing why Tonker and Lofty might let someone else in, why Mal or Polly might accept, and how that’d play out. Probably post-canon? How does it come about, if Tonker and Lofty have retired (to be criminals/freedom-fighters, or did they just rob the one bank to get enough to retire on and burn down the one place as personal revenge?) while Mal and Polly are still in the army?

Polly & Jackrum or Polly & Vimes - Just more of Polly and her mentor/s! I love that Monstrous Regiment is about a woman who joins the army in response to an immediate crisis but comes to learn that she’s a cunning bastard and that being a sergeant is what she’s good at. More of Polly learning from Jackrum (or deciding to do things differently, having things to teach) would be great. (She hasn’t heard nearly all Jackrum’s stories - or, even in retirement, there must be some adventure they could have, or something could come up around Jackrum’s big secret, or the book of blackmail.) So would Polly finding a new mentor in Vimes, learning how things work in Ankh-Morpork (as big city - how does she react to all the cultural differences? - or as a power structure where the rules of getting stuff done might be different than in Borogravia) or across periodic meetings when he’s in Borogravia. What are they cynical about, what do they believe in?

Froc/Wazzer - Something with Froc and her loyal secretary/aide, who now has a place in the world, could be really sweet. Wazzer has a connection to the Duchess that could be really meaningful to Froc, but she's also her own person with her own experiences that I'm sure Froc will learn to appreciate, and vice versa.

Mal/Polly - I will always be happy to receive more of this ship. I'm all about the post-canon loyalty kink for them, the different strengths or sacrifices they have at their disposal for each other (Polly’s practicality and cunning, Mal’s intimidating coolness and/or potential berserker rage that Polly might even have to leash in). Polly sends Mal on a dangerous mission; Mal goes off-leash rescuing Polly, or Polly has to bring that potential berserker rage to heel; something about the post-canon rank difference on top of the class difference (Mal is wealthy and cultured and typical commission material and yet is a corporal under Sergeant Perks’s command)...I love high sexual tension in a military context, but also love mutual pining whether from near (if they continue serving in the same regiment, essentially together all the time and unable to act on it) or from far (what if the job separated them - LDR, epistolary?).

I request this fandom constantly, as well as some of the loyalty kink stuff I'm talking about, so I've got more in my "dear author letters" tag.

Fandom-Specific DNW/Exception: gender headcanons, identity musing, or non-canonical pronouns. “He” or “she” for Jackrum are both fine, but I would not want to read the character making a big deal about gender identity or pronouns. Also, er, PWP would probably be fine for the Tonker/Lofty/* ships, although I’m still interested more in the character dynamics than in what would be hot. If writing Mal, please no vampire romance tropes (such as turning or immortality) as focus.

Fandom: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

Ship(s): Hori Masayuki & Kashima Yuu

I love how ride-or-die obsessed with each other these two are. The bit where Kashima leaves Hori women's clothing in his locker and he's deeply frustrated but also awed by her ability to put an outfit together! How into acting opposite each other and especially dueling each other they get! The coda to the bull scene! I'd be into a story about them acting in a play together or him directing her in a play - working together to create something awesome and intense that shows off both their abilities - or something where they (as per canon) are either intentionally or unintentionally in a tropey situation that may or may not correspond to their gender. Especially (I think, for these two) a trope from a dramatic non-slice-of-life genre. Future fic could also be fun, where they're adults who are still creative collaborators and/or each other's biggest fans in a professional or personal capacity. (Would future!Hori and/or future!Kashima have a girlfriend or wife? Kashima's "ALL THREE OF US WILL HANG" re: Hori's potential future wife is practically memetic in my house.)

I've requested this fandom before, so feel free to check out previous letters in my "dear author letters" tag. (I see from a previous letter that I suggested "give them magical powers" as a potential exception to my unrequested-AUs DNW!)

Fandom-Specific DNW: I would strongly prefer that Kashima's feelings about Hori not be written as overtly romantic or sexual. I think they're probably the most important people to each other, but I don't see her that way. (I'm amused by the possibility of Hori crushing on guy!Kashima, but ultimately, "&" rather than "/".)

Fandom: Legend of Korra

Ship(s): Korra & Kuvira, Korra & Zaheer, Lin Beifong/Mako

One thing I enjoyed about seasons 3 and 4 of Korra was the writing team's attempt to write villains who were sincerely committed ideologues with valid points, even if they became evil in pursuit of their goals, and to figure out how Korra could relate to those villains as the Avatar and as the person that she is. I loved how Korra needed to seek help from Zaheer because as an anarchist he truly opposed what Kuvira was doing and wanted to help Korra, and how she was able to empathize with Kuvira at the end of s4 because the two have some big personality similarities. How might they continue to work together or influence each other after the end of s4? I don't need a redemption arc if that's not what you're interested in writing - Zaheer and Kuvira can absolutely continue to believe that their ideals were correct and even that not all of their methods were wrong - but I would be interested in reading about Korra getting more mental/spiritual tutoring from her enemy Zaheer and deciding how much of that she wants to integrate into her practice, seeking Kuvira's advice on how to handle ongoing developments in the Earth Kingdom as it transitions to a republic, sparring or practicing bending with Kuvira, Spirit World meditation adventures with Zaheer... (I haven't read the comics, so you can either take or leave comics canon.)

Or, write me some Lin/Mako! I like that in Mako, Lin finds a mentee who is as cynical and stoic and prickly as she is, with lots of mutual respect for each other's police work. I'd be super into loyaltykink dynamics (whether plotty crimesolving casefic or not - and maybe, like, "of course my feelings for my older mentor/younger protégé are just professional respect and devotion to my team/to the cause of policing" type thing) and/or putting them into scenarios that are Not Dates because they're at the fancy restaurant to bodyguard the candidates, they're undercover, they're just getting takeout because they're working late on a case... They're both terrible at having and expressing emotions so this can only go great. Admin/Pauling is a ship that desperately needs some loyaltykink. Pauling has had MULTIPLE speeches in the comics about her devotion to Helen - I especially love the one to Gray Mann. ("Stop her? Why would I stop her? I've worked for her my whole life. I've lied for her. Framed people for her. Killed people for her. Do you think I'd do all that if I didn't know what she is? What she's capable of? Do you think I'm some kind of stupid pawn here? I know exactly what she could do with that kind of power, and I'll be right there with her when she does it.") I would love to get a fic that gets into Pauling's loyalty to Helen and willingness to be the one getting her hands dirty on Helen's behalf, into Helen's appreciation for what Pauling can do and decisions about how to direct all that competence while keeping her safe enough; how far they'd go or what they'd do for each other. Expanding something in their backstory, maybe something alluded to in that speech? Something in the present/future now that Helen is revivified and hot? (Helen trusting Pauling to inherit everything and become the boss herself?)

Alternately, I'm very fond of what we see of Miss Pauling's friendship with the Spy, given that she seems to see him as one of the only competent/sane people she has to work with and vice versa. Per the Tough Break update they go to wine tastings together and he's tried to teach her to play piano; I would love more of their friendship, whether on the job (she's more in the know than he is, but he also seems to see her as a mentee, and they both love guns) or at leisure (wingmanning each other to pick up women, going to the opera or something?) Would also be cool with Femspy.
