Happy Christmas y'all!
Or if you don't celebrate Christmas, happy Yule, Hanukkah, or other winter holiday!
Yesterday I was watching a video about the Muppets, and I got reminded by the bunch of old characters of mine from a old project and decided to draw em. Anyway sorry for yapping
Tumblr media
Val dracula!! He's probably the most known of these characters cuz I quite literally made a puppet of him so- yeah.
He's the cooky showman of the mansion! Always with a new play in mind
Tumblr media
Jack straw. Probably my second known one because he was originally married to Val (idk how canon I'll make that now. We'll see). He often is in the garden outside, doing what he needs to. He's also in the cemetery from time to time, usually bringing flowers to the graves that no one visits.
Anyway have my random doodles of them
Tumblr media
Silly
Tumblr media
I don't know why but I really like this doodle lmao
Tumblr media
Oh noooo his scriptttttt
Tumblr media
Short characters climbing on big characters is funny to me can't you tell
Anyway I swear I'll have a holiday post today or TMR i just wanted to get this out. :3

Phil Lesh Celebrates July 4 at Terrapin Clubhouse with Grahame Lesh, Scott Law, Jason Crosby and Jeremy Hoenig
Phil Lesh wished his friends a happy Fourth of July - perhaps he doesn’t follow the news - before launching into an American-themed Independence Day special with his Friends at the Terrapin Clubhouse.
Playing with a taut quintet including guitarists Grahame Lesh and Scott Law, keyboardist Jason Crosby and drummer Jeremy Hoenig, Lesh curated a set of holiday-appropriate Grateful Dead songs capped with a Neil Young number.
Law began the proceedings with a high-energy version of “U.S. Blues” that proved this group of Friends is as solid at the mic as on its respective instruments.
“Jack Straw” followed with Lesh the younger - in a Levon Helm T - and the elder - in a self-referential shirt - singing Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia’s parts, respectively. Crosby, on piano, meanwhile, captured the Dead-in-the-’70s vibe before Law lit into a solo inspired, perhaps, by Lesh’s bass playing.
“That sounds good,” the always-astute Mrs. Sound Bites said as she entered the room.
The syncopated celebration of “Liberty” followed, with young Lesh on vocals and old Lesh locking sticks with Hoenig before “One More Saturday Night.”
Hey another Fourth of July/everybody gettin’ high, Grahame Lesh sang.
“That was raucous and rockin’,” Phil Lesh said before more of the same on “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

On the Grateful Dead, community, art, and the phenomenon of tiktok: Tiktok is allegedly going to be banned in a few weeks, and I want to be available to my community in what ways possible. I managed to grow a small, wonderful community over on tiktok where we discussed our love for the Grateful Dead. I've met so many wonderful, loving, and caring people there. And now, it seems that community is gonna be torn apart, and it's honestly really upsetting. In thinking about my first vid on the Grateful Dead, it reminds me of how much of a journey life really is. Things come and go, but bonds you create with others will echo within you. In honor of my foray into creating the small community I have, I'm going to do a throwback of my favorite Jack Straw renditions. Honorable mention: Barton Hall, May 8th, 1977. For many of us, Barton Hall is a benchmark of excellent music, and the Jack Straw from this one is no different. I cannot talk about Jack Straw without honoring this standout version. Veneta, Oregon, August 27th, 1972: This is a funny one, because sometimes the vocals aren't exactly *in tune* as it were, but there's something about the energy in this one that's a good time. This one brings you to dance, whether you intended to or not. I can't talk about Jack Straw without mentioning the many renditions that were played throughout the Europe '72 tour, which is another obvious, but legendary tour. Fox Theater, December 10th, 1971: The vocal harmonies on this one are really enjoyable. I find myself appreciating this rendition the way one enjoys a fine wine. Carefully, intentionally, and I relish in every moment of it. What I said about Fox Theater, can also be applied to the RFK Stadium concert on June 10th, 1973. This one is a slow, gentle meander through the song, and I enjoy it much the same way. My final thoughts on this are that Dead Heads will always find one another. We're an eternal community filled with people who relish in the joy, acceptance, and beauty of the Grateful Dead. The music that brought a new perspective on creativity and community.

Straw: “We should never have let South Cyprus join the EU”
Former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw stated that by allowing the Greek Cypriot administration to join the EU as a member, the EU effectively presided over the frozen conflict. Straw criticized the accession of the South Cyprus to the EU in his article titled ‘We should never have let South Cyprus join the EU’ published in the US-based Politico magazine. Song Review(s): The Bobby Weir Incident - “Feel Like a Stranger” and “Jack Straw” (Live, Oct. 27, 2024)
The Bobby Weir Incident may be the first Dead & Company cover band.
The one-time amalgamation of the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir and the String Cheese Incident forsook the father band in favor of the spinoff’s slow tempos and off-key backgrounds on “Feel Like a Stranger” and “Jack Straw,” which opened their Oct. 27 gig in Florida and served as the giveaway from the associated pay-per-view livestream.
Only keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth looked back far enough, channeling the memory of Keith Godchaux with bright, jazzy acoustic piano coloring otherwise-monochromic renderings.
“Stranger” was turgid, like disco on Quaaludes, with unintentionally comical falsettos and atonal co-lead vocals on what was once a euphoric coda. Things devolved on “Jack Straw,” on which the band seemed to forget who was supposed to sing Jerry Garcia’s parts - it was ultimately Keith Moseley - and reined in the tempo even more.
That was probably Weir’s call, as he’s known to like his music sleepy. But it’s amazing he hasn’t yet acceded to the fans who would like some liveliness with their Dead music.
Grade card: The Bobby Weir Incident - “Feel Like a Stranger” and “Jack Straw” (Live - 10/27/24) - C/D+
