Orhan Pamuk sever ve takipçisi iseniz bu kitap size bir tekrar gibi de gelebilir, bir özlem giderme gibi de; sevginizin boyutuna göre değişir herhalde, benim için olmasa da olur bir tekrar oldu. Ama Orhan Pamuk'la henüz tanışmadıysanız kitaplarından bölümlerin yer alıyor olmasıyla başlangıç kitabı olarak değerlendirebilirsiniz.

Kronolojik olarak yaptığı filmleri anlatmış ve filmleri çekerken yaşadığı dikkat çekici olayları, ünlülerle ilgili fikirleri ve anıları. Bunları yaparken de ne mutlu ki politik doğruculuk illetinden uzak durmuş, hoş o zamanlar kavram icat edilmemişti. Kitabın özeti ne derseniz millet olarak filmlerimizin kötü olduğudur. "Şimdi o filmi tekrar izledim de beğenmedim, kötü olmuş" cümlesini neredeyse her filmi için kurmuş. Bir de ne kadar çok hikaye ve senaryo sıkıntısı çektiğimiz, bol bol yurt dışında tutmuş şeyleri çalıp çalıp film yapmaya çalışmışız. Ha ayrıca sinemamızın efsane starlarının keşfedilme hikayelerinin de minik minik parçaları, özellikle Fatma Girik ve Kemal Sunal hakkında bilgiler mevcut. Bu tarz kitaplar daha çok olmalı ülkemizde, bir şekilde önemli işler yapmış insanlar açık yüreklilikle yazmalılar anılarını.

Bir jenerasyonun kutsal kitabı ama kesinlikle bizim kuşağın değil. Yazar o güne kadar yapılmamış bir şey yaparak gündelik konuşma diliyle, sokak ağzıyla, bolca argoyla yeni bir türün kapılarını aralamış, buradan yeraltı edebiyatına kadar gitmiş olay ama bu tarz edebiyatın içine doğan nesil için bu kitabın pek bir şey ifade edeceğini sanmıyorum, en azından benim için öyle oldu. Tabi kahramanımızın ölen kız kardeşinden bahsettiği bölümler içimi bir cız ettirmedi değil.

Nietzsche dışındakileri tanımıyordum ama Zweig'in biyografilerini okumak için kişileri tanımaya hiç gerek yok, edebi bir haz almak için bir roman okurcasına gayet de okunuyor ve bir biyografi nasıl da olabiliyor, nasıl daha güzel olabiliyor bunu gösteriyor. Zweig yazdığı kişileri adeta özümseyip, bir süre onlar olup, onların hayatlarını içinde yaşayıp öyle yazıyor, bundandır ki şu tarihte doğdu, şu okula gitti, anne babası bunlardı gibi şeyleri bırakıp o kişilerin ruhlarını görüyorsunuz, hislerini duyuyorsunuz, kafalarının içine girip ne düşündüğünü anlıyorsunuz. Bu arada Hölderlin ve Kleist'i tanımıyorum dedim ama Almanya'nın iki büyük şairleriymiş.
