Couples of Linkon High School
Freshmen: Rafayel x MC
MC is the class president, with Rafayel as her deputy. He calls out, "Miss Class President!" throughout the day.
MC has good grades, —not the top student, but definitely in the top ten.
Of course, Rafayel draws and doodles during classes. But his grades are not bad either thanks to his drive to outperform his possible rivals in love.
His notebooks are filled with sketches of MC.
MC teaches math to Rafayel and Rafayel teaches English to MC.
They are both bad at physics and spend class time drawing short comics together. However, if nobody listens and the teacher seems down, they would listen and nod along even though they don't understand a word.
The chemistry teacher is unsure if they like or fear Rafayel.
Overall, teachers love them 'cause they treat their teachers as real people and genuinely care about them.
Sometimes they lock their pinky fingers under the desk and keep them that way until the class is over, even though they both get a bit embarrassed.
Rafayel is determined not to kiss her on the lips until both become adults.
Their music teacher is Rafayel's aunt. MC loves her classes and is learning to play piano. Rafayel always complains but still can play at least one decent piece on every instrument you have in the music room.
The art teacher is Thomas. He and Rafayel always argue as Rafayel doesn’t want his art to be just another mass product produced for exhibitions and competitions
MC grew up in a government institution. Although she doesn't remember, she met Rafayel when he was placed there after losing his parents. His relatives quickly took him in, but MC looked out for him, saving him from the bigger kids who tried to bully him. Eventually, they became friends.
MC is tomboy-ish and can't process her emotions properly.
MC's fashion sense is minimal, so Rafayel goes to shopping with her on weekends. Thanks to that they have some matching couple clothes.
Sophomores: Xavier x MC
They have average grades but excel in sports, making them the school's hidden assets in tournaments.
The school coach would love to have them join every team if he could.
Xavier is popular among other boys and has a considerable number of fans.
They nap together during lunch breaks.
They are members of the literature club and student librarians. So they regularly visit the library to read books or organize shelves and help others.
Literature teacher loves them.
Xavier tends to sleep through STEM classes, so MC shares her notes with him later in exchange for snacks or chocolate milk.
When Xavier gets bored during lectures or breaks, he secretly plays with MC's hair.
Despite skipping classes for extracurricular activities, they absorb information quickly, allowing them to pull all-nighters before exams and still perform well.
Some boys claim they got beaten up in the dark when they went down to the basement. Everyone's suspicious of Sylus, but it’s actually Xavier who’s taking care of anyone who messes with MC.
They hang out with a large friend group that includes Tara, Jenna, Jeremiah, and Bella.
Tara enjoys styling MC’s and Bella’s hair with cute hairpins to see how Xavier and Jeremiah will react.
Xavier wears one of MC's hair ties as a bracelet, believing it brings him luck.
They use all of their stationery together, so their pencils and erasers frequently end up in each other’s pencil cases.
MC's dad is a police officer and her mom is a nurse. Xavier's parents are both politicians.
Xavier doesn't get along with his own father but they are on good terms with MC's dad. They play board games, go fishing, or jog on weekends. MC doesn't have the foggiest idea of how it happened.
Juniors: Zayne x MC
Zayne is the top student and MC is right behind him in second place.
People often think MC is just an airhead who gets good grades just because she’s dating Zayne.
But while she is cheerful and active, she’s also super diligent. She pays attention in class, reviews her notes, and makes new ones before exams to make sure she’s on top of things.
She doesn't want to fall behind Zayne and secretly worries about how he would react in case she fails and gets bad grades.
All the teachers are fond of them with some even treating them like their own kids.
MC’s family trusts Zayne more than they trust her, so they’re quicker to say yes to events if they know Zayne will be there with her.
MC has a cute habit of drawing little hearts on the random pages of Zayne's textbooks. Once Zayne noticed it, he started drawing jasmine flowers on hers.
They tend to avoid skinship at school, except for the times MC is sick. During those times, Zayne stays close to her all day, ensuring she is hydrated and consuming warm drinks. He hugs MC and lets her rest on his chest, and he holds her hand during classes.
Seniors: Sylus x MC
One word: Trouble
But no they're not your typical troublemaker brats. They are also top-notch in nearly every class, so teachers don't know what to do with them.
At first, they were pretty low-key about their relationship, keeping it a secret. But once they went public, they became all about PDA with Sylus' hand always around MC's waist whenever they managed to take a break from holding hands.
Science teachers would love to exempt Sylus from taking their classes so that he can never ever set foot in their labs.
Chemistry, physics, and biology teachers change their way when they see Sylus in corridors, lest he ask them about things that would lead to a global catastrophe.
The music teacher gets goosebumps whenever they see Sylus.
Most of the girls don't like MC and there is always gossip and slander surrounding her. But for some, she is like a protective big sis.
MC and Sylus's families have been business partners since the time of MC's grandma.
Sylus' family makes huge donations to the school, so the administration is unusually lenient with him.
They play truant regularly. For what? Nobody knows.
It’s hard for others to actually mess with MC. But, when they do, Luke and Kieran are quick to pull pranks on them even before MC or Sylus can react.
Luke and Kieran look so similar that teachers often can’t figure out who’s at fault. Their innocent expressions after causing trouble don’t make things any easier.
Sylus and MC are chosen school representatives. They are intimidating and cunning so it is easier for them to negotiate with and win over teachers and the local student union.
People come to them with problems to be solved. MC is willing to help them without any immediate material return but Sylus always turns it into a business deal with specific terms.
MC doesn't have many close friends, but she occasionally lunches with the MCs of Xavier, Zayne, and Rafayel.

Do you think we'll see more Belly or Belly and Conrad flashback in the last 2 episodes?
Hard to say, the show is following some aspects of the book but also it’s very different. I remember there being pictures released of Conrad outside the hallways when Jeremiah tells Belly’s to leave his room and also the bits of Conrad and Belly at the beach after their first kiss, we haven’t seen those yet, unless it’s for Season 3. This season is focused on hyping Jeremiah up since book 2 was his POV as well, o hope we get flashbacks of Conrad at Belly’s house more. I don’t know how much they have saved for us in the last two episodes, but I feel our hearts are going to break for Conrad. I love show and the books so much, but I think the writers need to balance their characters. They illustrate Conrad as the troublemaker and how he just disappoints but they’re not showcasing his underlying layers, they don’t display Conrad’s actions for the audience to understand especially the nonreaders. As book fans, we know why the choices he makes, since it’s Jeremiah’s season they’re building him up too much to showcase how Conrad is “bad” or “selfish”.
A little off track but I would hope for one more flashback of actually showing Conrad’s feelings for Belly.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Review
Watched 6 episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 thinking that was the seasonal finale. Didn't realize they are streaming it weekly. I was about to review how a shitty cliffhanger that was. lmao.
I ship Jelly Now (Warning: Minor Spoilers)
Anyway, I wasn't a big Jelly fan because I thought Jeremiah in season one was only into Belly because she turned pretty but season 2 changed my mind. The flashback when she was sick proved he started liking her. Yes his mom did make him stay with her but did you see the way he tried to touch her hand? That's a small hint. I also think he fell for her when she decided to stay with him instead when he got sick instead of going out.
The Vampire Diaries Comparison
I had no idea Gavin Casalegno played young Damon from Vampire Diaries but it makes sense because they both have those bright beautiful blue eyes. The more I think about it the more I started comparing the show to Vampire Diaries.
Belly: Elena
Jeremiah: Stefan
Conrad: Damon
Steven: Jeremy
Taylor: Bonnie
I swear the show reminds me of a Vampire Diaries fan fic I read years ago! Even the The Kissing Booth reminded me of a Vampire Diaries fan fic (I heard it actually was written on Wattpad).
Warning: Major Spoilers
I understand the point of view of the aunt but still I think she's a witch. I have rich cousins/aunts/uncles who never talk to me so I know what it feels like to feel like garbage but if I was in that situation I would at least give my nephews a chance to buy the house. I'm poor as hell and have a lot of issues but I'm not a monster. Yes I would gift them half the share of the house that belonged to their mother! If I don't have the money to maintain it I would give them the option of renting it out to others to make the money. There are so many possibilities but she doesn't care enough to try. It's revenge.
I feel like they're trying to make the aunt relatable saying oh she's the sad poor sister like us. No. Sorry she doesn't look poor at all. I would go as far to say that she's co dependent on her child. Skye tried to break way from it by going out with their cousins for the first time in years. The whole time Julia thought Skye hated the beach but it was actually Julia who hated the beach proves it because Skye was never given a chance to decide. I can imagine Skye never doing anything that interest them but instead doing whatever their mother was comfortable with.
At the end I actually agree with Conrad. Renting out the house for a week during the summer isn't good enough. All their mother's and family stuff would be gone and the owners stuff will be in it. It wouldn't be their house anymore. Julia is only doing it because she felt a tiny bit bad. If I was them I would've thrown the keys when she asked for them.
To be honest I wasn't a big fan of Taylor last season (nothing she did wrong I just wasn't feeling her) but I learned to love her. Maybe it's because we got more screen time with her this season. Steven is starting to grow on me too.

It’s so interesting that people find Conrad toxic. Do I think he is ready for a relationship? No. Do I think therapy could do him well? Yes because he has problems expressing his emotions and has obviously felt like an adult since he was a kid and puts pressure on himself that he doesn’t need to. Jeremiah and belly’s dynamic is toxic, example the beach scene he goes down to the beach to comfort her because she just had a fight with her mum. She asks jeremiah about the fight last night in which is brought her into to try and one up his brother and he turns around and says “ can you not actually” she ends up in tears apologising and ends up comforting him. Him constantly gilt tripping her saying she left him when he wasn’t responding to her texts. Her feeling the need to eat candy she doesn’t like to make him happy. Her feeling uncomfortable when Conrad gives her his sweater to the point she needs to lift the mood… the list goes on. That relationship is going to be toxic as.
conrad and belly were bad for each other at that time, absolutely. their break up was inevitable, but they are really right person wrong time. i think that both conrad and belly needed to be apart, find out who they are outside of relationship that they had and deal with their inner demons. and we can actually see how mature conrad is in the third book, how he's proving that he's ready for her when she'll be ready for him. i hated who jeremiah handled that beach talk that he and belly had after the party. she was so confused and she needed to say everything out loud, but jeremiah just shut her down. and i think that's because once this talk starts jeremiah have to a) admit that he was wrong for causing a scene, b) tell her the real reason that made him cause a scene. and he's still not ready to deal with that competition problem of his. also, i really don't get people saying that conrad fans are making that up cause literally even jeremiah says it in his narration — he admit's that he's always competing with conrad. i do hate his manipulation tactics too, cause i actually hate any form of manipulation and when someones tries to pull this shit in real life i'm like "nah, not with me, hun". however, i also think that those manipulations could be unintentional in jeremiah's case. i think in his case, he really cannot hide that something is offensive to him and he feels uncomfortable, so belly, being an empathetic person she is, just wants to make him feel better. guilt-tripping, on the other hand, is very intentional and he definitely knew what he was doing, so that shit is really messy. i think that book three highlighted how problematic belly and jeremiah were towards each other at least closer to the end of their relationship, so we're definitely going to see that in season three. i have no doubts that their relationship are going to be hurtful for both of them because, again, i don't think that they should've gotten together when they both were dealing with grieve. every sane mature person understands that relationship is not a lifeline for broken people.

WHERE ARE YOU NOW? MOODBOARDS
sean hope cameron 🖤 35 years old // scorpio // hardworking mechanic, temperamental, complicated loner, biker, & also a softee
sean cameron is a hometown guy ex boyfriend of emma "lucky" nelson, current boyfriend of ellie nash, friend of jay hogart, young mechanic new hire tommy, and of the manning-jeremiah-santos clan. he's recently appointed as the boss at cameron's custom cars (formally tony's auto repair) by tony after he retired after decades in the business in the beginning of the year.
(the continued biography is under the cut!)
he's still hung up on his ex, singing phenom, lucky but she'd once been simply emma, or emma nelson. to put it simply, he's a good guy overall but unfortunately in his youth he made mistakes when he fell into a 'bad crowd', and hurt countless people who cared and vouched for him such as emma, his shop teacher mr. elh, and mr. simpson. he only recently made amends with the latter, mr. elh passed from a heart attack shortly after retirement a few years after sean managed to skid through to graduation. he and mr. simpson made sure sean was on that stage with his diploma. he regrets a lot of what he did back then in high school, the whole gangsta phase craig still teases him for.
as for work, he loves what he does, drowns in his work, and stays at the garage late to cope with his regrets and avoid his off-and-on girlfriend ellie nash with whom he currently lives. sean is somewhat of a workaholic and still has issues with his temper but, he isn't as angry as he had been in the past, more indifferent. he's a glass hal full guy, pessimistic as they come and he directs his hatred for himself what he'd done to emma especially, never getting closure when he had a sliver of a chance the day she departed for greener pastures, and prioritized standing by ellie who in recent years, won't help herself in her destructive hobbies. craig and manny, his friends understand the situat
craig and manny always make excuses for emma, but visit with emma frequently and they believe there's hope for sean and emma, and aren't afraid to be honest, but he doesn't want to set himself up for false hopes either. , they claim its not all about him, fine, but her staying away has everything to do with him. sean simply doesn't understand how she is constantly flaking a simple visit, inconveniencing her parents and hometown friends to fly out her way, and not coming home. if not because of him not even her family and friends, just because she's not ready to run into him. the way he sees it, it'd been years, but that's the salties and pettyest thing he'd ever thought.
he eventually moved on, but never really got over that sting of heartbreak over the years. he filled her absence with keeping quiet on her, but silently watching from the stands, and by stands, he means online sites and such. he is a fan of hers in secret because he knew her before she became so overexposed and unattainable. it's nice to dream, he figures. she had always to him, been out of his league, and genuinely thinks she's better off. he often thinks to himself when alone, if he had a chance he'd make it right with her, but it hadn't been likely because she hadn't been home since their last tango about a year after she left, and he didn't handle his second chance the best and that justified that.
on the other hand, he doesn't feel much more for, ellie he stands by her because he cares a lot, is a weakness, and fears what she'd do if he were to break up with her or stop doing things for her when she's too drunk to function. he cares but it's hard for him to not resent how she is, he dealt with it in his youth with his parents, and so did she, but in a strictly dutiful kind of way, he helps her with respect and care. he may still love her, but he isn't in love anymore, they lost their spark and individuality in this long term off and on, and so on. it was better off for emma, if he stuck with her miserable, even if he'd rather be with emma. he hides his momentos of her from ellie so, as not to hurt her feelings. even when they were at their high points and peaks he was always into emma, but did like having his relationship with ellie, before her predispositions to alcohol and all the chaos that comes with it.
he doesn't know why ellie sticks around nowadays, and is at a loss of what to do, even before emma comes into town. she'd built and wrapped her life around sean's, and lost who she was in her daily alcohol binges. he didn't like who she'd become. he assumed he'd never stop loving emma too by comparison, but there's things about emma he's not so keen on either but she seems miles more healthy than his current girlfriend. ✨

Then ≈ 2 minutes after (sting butt cheek 7:45 am pdt) a different cloud ☁️ of different smell 👃 met my nose 👃. It is strange. Incubus walks in and plants it in the bathroom 🚽. I thought 💭 it was coming through the fan. Keep asking my mom to ask to clean it. Hasn’t been done. Incubus keeps telling me my mom is going to kill me Bcz her name has Abel in it like the Bible who sacrifices lamb 🐑. So that’s another cross over sign 🪧. Bcz my sun 🌞 sign 🪧 is Aries ♈️. R in Japanese is pronounced L. 7:50 am pdt ram 🐏-> lamb 🐑 7:51 am pdt
cousin Jeremy cop 👮‍♂️ when I was 7 years old = Jeremiah Bible slavery. Chinese year zodiac sign 🪧 = ox 🐂

acid throat pain 7:53 am pdt. I guess it was all a fake out to me. And if everyone did not believe it would be different after covid, if they thought 💭 that there will still be bad people around, then I guess you weren’t deceived. By incubus saying apocalypse! On the voice in 2018? That was weird. He did seem very sinister wicked. I guess he really did be the bad guy (Brain pain skull 💀 hot 🥵 7:57 am pdt) Bcz all the rapist who want free young vag is still around. El jefe? Restaurant won’t tell even though they know who it was? Probably Bcz of incubus. 7:58 am pdt those rapists aren’t even trying to be good they 💭 think they can trick people with bogus reasons. 7:59 am pdt 😖😭🥵felt like acid with heat 🧠💀😖😭🥵 they’re really breaking into my hip. 8:29 am pdt if the guy at the pool 🏊‍♂️ was a s*x offender interested in children s*xually, maybe he rejected 🙅‍♂️ me? Maybe all the guys like that guy rejected 🙅‍♂️ me?? So Bcz they rejected 🙅‍♂️ me and god had only one plan for me to be a rape victim, Scott put in my name 6 backward 7s (acid throat pain 8:32 pmpdt) I guess I’m not entitled to an opinion? So Bcz they wanted me to be a rape victim and they wanted me to take the blame they labeled me “whore.” Bcz they already cursed me by training me in that way. And made me extremely h*rny that it became troublesome for me that sometimes it distracted me in classes. And at home 🏠. So they needed an excuse to get rid of me. Make me take all the blame. Make me feel weird about myself. Abuse me. Trashed me to call me trash 🗑. Acid mouth 👄 pain. 8:37 am pdt
8:38 am pdt they will never admit to it Bcz they don’t have to Bcz they’re all powerful.
8:39 am pdt somehow I stayed (acid pain brain 🧠 flesh 😖😭). Left hip bone 🦴 pain 8:40 am pdt Virgin until 19 years old. I guess they had change in plans Bcz all the rapists rejected 🙅‍♂️ me? Plan B. My aunt is a home 🏠 care person. Was a pharmacist 👩‍⚕️. Connect the dots. Pharmacist 👩‍⚕️ to nurse 👩‍⚕️ to doctor to garrido to police 👮‍♂️ to incubus/demon angel 😇. 9:14 am pdt everyone is virtue signaling and fake. They don’t mean what they say. The are all frauds. The police 👮‍♂️. The doctors 🥼. The nurses. The pharmacist create date rape drugs. The home 🏠 care workers. All frauds. Child rapists enablers. Incubus henchmen/lackeys. And they’re all smug and proud 🥲 and showing cut off the leg 🦵 gestures which is the backward peace ✌️ symbol gestures. Look 👀 at them all. In pictures on tv 📺 now they’re changing it and touching they’re marriage ring 💍 like Mario Lopez on extra. 9:18 am pdt they are all very proud to make people suffer and run it in our faces even though they side with child rapists. 9:19 am pdt
9:36 am pdt my Twitter October 28? 2022 (tummy ache 9:37 am. Pdt) I found the pre Xmas tweet 🐣 with the Santa 🎅🏾 Claus 🤶🏽 Sagittarius ♐️ sweater. 9:38 am pdt
9:39 am pdt nananan65672 ....? 979 . I did NOT pick those numbers. It was auto generated and then the internet was weird and it went through w/o me being able to edit it. I blame incubus 😑. 9:41 am pdt arm hot acid pain right lower arm. 😖😭 difficulty breathing 😤🥵😤🥵😤🥵🥵😤🥵 9:42 am pdt I currently cannot paste . Memory full 🙌 9:43 am pdt
9:44 am pdt Adam.Levine.my.love Instagram account 9:46 am pdt
9:46 am pdt December 2020 post (hot acid left butt cheek pain)
9:46 am pdt to fight for a cause means to be killed piece by piece for a cause. Bcz if you are fighting child rapists how do you win when incubus demon lord enables them? Let’s them live in luxury? Healthy? Happy? And incubus tears down their victims? Shannon Ruth was 17 years old? Technically a minor. And if autistic she was behind socially? Mentally? Mentality? Even if she looked like an adult 🧑 9:51 am pdt acid brain 🧠 skull 💀 pain. She was probably behind in maturity? Bcz if autism? Back street boys were listened to by 11 year olds? “Normal” teens usually try non-boy bands, maybe not mainstream? And try to find edgier sounds to show they’re tough! Maybe indie sounds bcz they want to be more interesting and set themselves apart from the rest. 9:54 am pdt
9:57 am pdt what’s with the sparkly chime sounds? What ever it’s called. All I have to give Backstreet Boys. They trying to sound like magical 🧙‍♂️ princes (right hip bone 🦴 pain stabbed 9:59 am pdt) autocorrect: feet dead dying. 9:59 am pdt I don’t have any spare bone 🦴 left this is it. The renewal of the apocalypse. Apocalypse continued. Whole 7 bowls cycle. Starts again. With my death ☠️. Bcz I am the thrown lamb 🐑 slained. Lamb 🐑 on the thrown. Jesus Christ. I keep telling you he’s been bugging me and giving me signs 🪧. Usually I tried not to think 💭 it Bcz I was afraid 😱 to pay attention to it Bcz it would probably make me look 👀 crazy. But I can’t ignore it anymore! 10:03 am pdt no one believes in any other way. Even though everyone has been doing what he says to do anyway, so why not just take it verbally? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ 10:04 am pdt
10:22 am pdt if child rape only happens Bcz god wants it to happen, a male god, then males gods are twisted? Left ankle bone pain 10:23 am pdt. So then it’s futile to fight for a good cause? Bcz it’s all incubus’ doing? Makes sense that they’re saying if you fight/ro? Ru? Then you die! Makes sense makes sense!!!! Spine pain 10:24 am pdt Bcz if we only can exist this way it’s a surreal fake peace ☮️ Bcz everyone is fake. And everyone is bad. 10:25 am pdt

Funny thing happened to me recently.
Twitter was on fire a few weeks back when a lady who runs a podcast about being a better writer tweeted about how shitty fanfic is and how "bleak" it is that young writers are cutting their eyeteeth on it. She got massively, massively dunked on, which I’m sure ruined her week but was pretty great for the spectators, but this story isn't about her.
I was clicking around in the discussion, and I found a guy who agreed with a lot of her points, and had tweeted like, "Good thing this lady's got everyone talking about fanfic, maybe it will drive traffic to MY new article about how terrible fanfiction is!"
YOU GUYS. THIS ARTICLE.
A jeremiad is a literary form named for the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah. It is a work in which the author bitterly laments the corrupt and immoral practices of their times, and preaches about how this break from humanity's more innocent past will lead to society's immediate downfall.
And this article's subheading is literally, "Fan culture’s endless search for “content” is leading us into artistic poverty."
You can read it here, but the basic gist is: Fandom used to be about creativity and telling new stories, but now it's just about sucking up whatever derivative drivel Disney wants to sell us and never demanding better from corporate mass media. Fans are slaves to capitalism and never resist being monetized or economically exploited!
At which point I was like... not only has this dude failed to prove that there was an Edenic "before" point, especially since he himself points out that Sherlock Holmes fans in the 1890s were clamouring for Arthur Conan Doyle to produce more content the same way Star Wars fans want new eps of The Mandalorian, but also, have you fucking met modern fandom?
And like, I get that in, say, video game fandoms, there are a ton of fans who scream loudly when their newest Call of Duty game release is pushed back two weeks because it's not like the people making the thing need to eat or sleep, and when it’s out they scream at any reviewer who doesn’t give it 10/10. But this guy specifically comments on stuff like Sherlock, Star Wars, and slash fandom:
"[O]fficial shows or books could offer ambiguous homosocial/sexual relationships between characters with a nod and a wink, while counting on fans to generate the more explicit possibilities of Johnlock on Archive of Our Own. The [copyright owners] could therefore capture audiences hungry for homoerotic content without needing to create any themselves [...] these corporations have realized that the existence of fan-made slash fiction means they don’t need to actually include diverse relationships in official works."
THAT’S NOT HOW THIS WORKS
THAT’S NOT HOW ANY OF THIS WORKS
So I got Big Mad and I tweeted about it. And the author found and replied to my tweet, defending himself.
I pointed out how bad his takes were, especially since fan communities have been a leading force in the push for more diverse media over the last decade and fan frustration over Sherlock and recent Star Wars movies IN PARTICULAR led to mainstream publishing houses putting out books like Claire O’Dell’s A Study in Honor, where Holmes and Watson are Black lesbians, Zen Cho’s The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Water, a Rogue One Malaysia-inspired wuxia Baze/Chirrut love story, and Emily Skrutskie’s Bonds of Brass, the Finn/Poe space royalty AU the movies never gave us. I stayed civil, and I think I made some pretty good points.
Because, uh...
The magazine @ed me to say they’d buy my response article.
My word limit was 1600 because that was all they could afford to pay me for, so I had to cut out the part where my eyes rolled out of my head because this dude called some white guy who published a Sherlock Holmes pastiche in 1949 “the first truly archetypal ‘fan’“, but I’m mostly over that. I worked out some of my rage and cut my initial 3400 word draft down. I tried to focus on the facts.
And... it’s up. You can read it here.
Please consider giving Blood Knife Magazine a high five for paying me to dunk on its assistant editor. It’s a digital magazine about science fiction and anticapitalism, and it’s funded primarily through its Patreon.
And if you like the work I do, please consider supporting me through PayPal or Patreon.

your ocs' impressions of asmr and if they like it, their favourite type
Kara: Thinks it's weird with all the whispers n' shit. Doesn't know about other kinds besides that.
Alec: Thinks no one does it well enough for it to be worth doing, but appreciates the idea. Would try to find a way to make it torture.
Aaron: Huge huge huge huge fan. Any kind of asmr, including the ones that are just audio roleplays. Probably gravitates toward ones that are just interactive, not changing - like pouring beats back and forth or stirring wooden blocks in water.
Jessie: Has no idea what this question is asking about.
Everett: Thinks it's stupid. All of it. Stupid. Do something more valuable with your time.
Jeremiah: Appreciates the craft - probably likes soap shaving videos or the aesthetic crafting ones that border on asmr.
Nate: Big big big fan - likes anything crunchy. Soap curls, chalk breaking, etc.
Ethan: Big fan of twisting someone's bones to hear them splinter - does that count?
Anna: Seriously squicked by most of the asmr things. Bad tingles.
Ida: Not....a huge fan?
Robin: Weirdly a big fan of the mukbang kinds of things - tanghulu especially. Nice sounds.
Oren: Also has no idea what this ask is about.

Random quotes I found on Pinterest as Gotham characters???
These quotes aren't mine :)
Penguin: "I consider it a true tragedy and failure that we, as a human race, have let lavish masquerade balls go out of fashion."
Jerome: *is sad* some random shiny thing with no function or monetary value half buried in the dirt at the bus stop. "Oh ho HOOOO."
Harley: "Why aren't there friend pick up lines. Pick up lines to make friends, like, hey that's a cute dress, you know where it would look better? On nobody else, because you're a beautiful individual."
Post-spray Jeremiah: "Be my friend or I'll set your entire family on fire."
Jim: "Life hack: if someone makes a racist/sexist joke, say, with total seriousness, I don't get it, can you explain it. Then watch them crash and burn."
Galavan: "So what do you guys have planned for valentine's day?"
Barbara and Tabitha: "Murder."
Galavan: "That's the spirit."
Some random teacher talking about Jonathan: "One time, we got a new kid in fifth grade and he walks right in, sticks his hand under the stapler and staples his hand. He just looks at the teacher and goes I'm going to the nurse and leaves."
Edward: "Struggle with depression would almost seem to imply that I am bad at depression when I am, in fact, very proficient at being depressed."
Ivy: "You'll understand when you're older. I am older and I understand absolutely nothing."
Post-spray Jeremiah: My neutral expression makes me look like I'm in a bad mood, which is convenient because it's usually true."
Jerome: "At my funeral, there is going to be a closed casket and then it will be opened to reveal that I am not inside. Instead, they will turn on the ceiling fan and my lifeless body will swing around the room while the Space Jam theme song is playing in the background." *Hours later* "Nevermind, my mom says I can't do that."
Edward: "Would like to apologize to my haters for being an absolute snack."
Post-spray Jeremiah: "My brother tried to pick up a banana to make it look like he was talking on the phone but all the bananas in the bunch came with it and he just looked at me and went I guess it's a conference call."
Harley: "A++ recovery."
Jeremiah: "Don't encourage him."
Barbara high as a kite: "I'm going to make a Youtube video entitled shit all men say and it will consist only of the phrase but not all men say that. And then I'll wait for men to stare at their keyboards in utter distress as they contemplate the paradox of their intense desire and desperation to inform me that not all men say that. I will break them."
Ivy: "Sorry, I have Bubonic plague. I can't hang out tonight."
Harley: "Aw rats."
Jerome: "This is my How the Grinch Stole Christmas oc, the Gunch. He's the Grinch's brother but he has a gun. His theme song is called "holy fuck it's the Gunch."
Pre-spray Jeremiah: "Everyday is leg day when you're running from your problems."
Some college student: "Confidently submits worst essay Professor Crane has ever graded."
Jonathan: "Students, you have no idea how high that bar is. I had a student who plagiarized from a yaoi hentai site. There's no going back from that one."
Same student: "Fuck dude, there's sure not."
Harley: "How can lawyers argue without crying?"
Harvey Dent: "I am a lawyer and let me tell you it gets super close dude."
(I edited this quote a bit.)
Random circus member: "today these two twins in the circus were hitting each other with pencils and Lila glared at them and said could you try to be a little more mature? One of them screamed taxes and punched the other kid in the face."
Harley: "I hate it when people ask me to explain my thought process. Like hell if I know!"
Selina: "What do you do for a living?"
Bruce: "I exist against my will."
Post-spray Jeremiah: "Earth's boring, it's time to mix things up a little,"
Bruce: "After the year we just had?!"
Jeremiah: "Politics bore me but Yellowstone's super-volcano intrigues me."
Jonathan: "What's going on in that head of yours?"
Harley: "Nothing I want to be apart of."
Literally any version of Jeremiah: "Y'all ever postpone an outfit? Sometimes the public just isn't ready.

Gotham for the fandom ask thingy.
(I ran here so fuckin fast you have no clue)
Hello anon! :D I will answer this now, so you don't have to wait any longer but also....this would be very nice to answer through gifsets...(maybe when I am feeling up for it).
For now, have this:
(It's not proof read because I just sat at this for several hours and I don't wanna look at it anymore).
Favourite Male Character
You mean...besides the obvious answers?? :D
Ngl, it's S2 Jerome. I love that little twink with his parental issues and his tragic backstory and I wanna see him happy. There's a reason I have a bunch of AUs where he ends up having a family (mostly in the form of Lee as his Mother) and gets some actual help instead of being ostracized for being a mentally ill person snapping after years of abuse.
(This also ties into my very strong feelings regarding the fact that nobody actually helps the people at Arkham. And I don't mean the main villains there, I mean all the inmates who get treated like shit and are left behind on the regurlar (remember in S2 when Arkham was about to explode and nobody was talking about evacuating the inmates???? I do).
Other than that, one of my faves is also Jonathan. Which may be a little surprising because I barely talk about him but he was my favourite character throughout the show and he had way too little scenes.
(Kinda telling that the characters I latched onto are both helpless teens who were fucked over by the people who were supposed to protect them and can both trace their villain origin story back to Jim Gordon not caring enough about them lmao).
But the cast is big and varied enough that I actually like everyone? Butch, Zsazs, Penguin, S1 and 2 Ed, Jervis, Harvey, Jim......I like them all!!
(Special shoutout to 514A too, he was soft and baby and I wanted to keep him safe and sound really desperately).
(Another special shoutout to Barnes!! I didn't expect to like him when I first saw him, given he looked like he was gonna be mean and stoic and all, but I ended up really liking him and his story!)
Favourite Female Character
Let's just pretend Ecco doesn't exist for this answer ajdkaskaslj.
I fell in love immediately upon seeing Ecco but all! the women! are so!!! good!!!!
I especially have a soft spot for the side characters. I mean, upon first watching I got attached to Alice (even though she only features in two episodes lmao), and also Kristen Kringle - who isn't talked about much within Fandom, but she was pretty and her and Ed were actually quite cute but then she had to die for him to become the Riddler which was...pretty much telling us from the beginnning 'The woman here die to advance the men's plots'.
Barbara was also a big surprise to me because I figured she'd be the female love interest and nothing more but!! her and Jerome were the best thing in S2 and also the most entertaining thing about the Maniax Plot. (In several ways, I think I had the most fun watching this show during S2 , it was just. Good).
Also upon being in this Fandom and thinking about certain characters a bit longer I also really like Vicky Vale. And Montoya. And I wish they had kept both around for longer.
(I also wish they wouldn't have made Vicky a love interest for Jim. Or Sofia. No love interests for Jim except Lee and Barbara please).
Also Selina!! I love both Selina and Tabitha with all my heart - which may also be surprising because I barely ever talk about Tabby but I contain multitudes aklskddsm, and while I like sharing my horny thoughts about Ecco, I also love to think about Tabby and daydream about her being happy and exploring her (and Selina's) issues with showing weakness and affection and their strong loyalty regarding people that they trust.
I just.....women. Women good.
(Women also deserve to have more character than just being somebody's love interests and I have enough wips that completely sideline the guys to focus on the woman instead lmao).
Least Favourite Character
I don't have many characters that I hate??
I generally tend to instantly love everybody unless they are specifically made to be unlikeable. (I also spite-like characters who are hated for petty reasons, I just have a lot of love in my heart and not much energy for hate lmao).
But there were characters who annoyed me while I was watching.
For one, I think Gotham has a variety of super entertaining villains, but the main villains of each season tend to be....boring.
Safe for Strange they all kinda fell flat for me. Theo. Kathryn. Ra's Al Ghul. His Daughter. Mostly because their plotlines were less exciting than stuff like Jerome's carnival or Mother and Orphan's Hotel of Horrors.
Or their motives seemed a lot less understandable than the ones of the other Batman villains who pretty much always come from a place of suffering and abuse and break/snap under the pressure that's put on them (continuing this take of Gotham creating its own villains by leaving behind - mentally ill - people that need help, which I think is very true to most - if not all - Batman villains).
And then you have some characters that simply suffer from the fact that the show was cut short - which is pretty much any and every S5 character that had way too little screentime, but in this specific case means Jeremiah.
Because I disliked Jeremiah a lot while watching.
Without wanting to step on anybody's toes, him and Nygma are probably the two characters on this show I ended up disliking the most.
Mostly because Miah felt like a very cheap copy of Jerome and to this day I think it was a bad idea to replace Jerome with him, since Jeremiah - to me - seems like a super flat character.
Maybe if we had gotten him without meeting Jerome first, just having a Joker character introduced in S4, maybe I would've adored him, who knows.
But in comparison to Jerome...no. Just no.
(I will spare you from any longer rambles, but I think if you follow me, I talked about the ways Miah is lacking for me before).
My made up version of Miah though? I love him.
With Nygma it's even worse because I adored him. I instantly liked him. I was 100% behind him right up until the godawful Isabella plot happened and then it just all went to shit so quickly, I couldn't stand seeing him on screen anymore.
It's surprising that I didn't stop liking Oswald but to me, Oswald pretty much stayed the same while Ed became all bitter and hard and I just miss dorky S2 Ed you know?
It actually got so bad, I completely turned my back on Nygm/obblepot as a ship because I was so severly disappointed and I barely talk about Ed because I just can't stand what they did with him.
(Another victim of bad writing).
Favourite Ship
I'm just gonna stick to canon ships because I don't ever shut up about my Fanon ships so you probably know which ones I love the most :D
There isn't much romance going on within Gotham if I think about it - apart from Jim - which I definitely prefer. You wouldnt guess it from my blog, but I am not a fan of too shippy stuff because in most cases it just means sex scenes and I can live without those. I want action! Blood! Dead People! Not a two minute make-out session between two bland characters!
I gotta admit that Ed and Lee have some cute scenes and I would definitely ship them if I didn't dislike S4 Ed so much (S2 EdLee tho?? Yes).
Also I thought Jim and Lee was okay and Baby Batcat was quite cute at times but mostly I don't care about the canon ships.
I do ship Barbara and Jim though :D
I remember right before they hooked up in S5 I was like: 'I wouldn't mind if they got back together' and then went 'yay!' when they did and I wouldn't have minded a little more 'Will they?? Won't they??' between those two and them just having the mother of unhealthy relationships on this show.
(Also Jim/Barbara/Lee poly relationship but we can't have everything).
Favourite Friendship
So many good relationships on this show!
I need to rewatch the show soon because I probably already forgot about most of them but from the top of my head: Oswald/Butch and Oswald/Zsazs
Which were both then done dirty lmao. One by having Oswald be overly petty (one of the few times I was like...Pengy...wtf...) and the other by passing up the obvious opportunity to have Zsazs find out who really killed Falcone and just...letting Oswald and Victor never interact again.
Then of course Ivy and Selina which also gloriously fell apart. Just like Ivy and Oswald.
(Gotham isn’t the best when it comes to maintaining friendships).
And the biggest and most grandious friendship of them all: J Squad.
(Who have too little scenes together honestly and then also simply fell apart after Jerome died. Consistency who?)
Favourite Quote
I don’t know, I don’t have many quotes in my head from the show. Me and my niece mostly reference: “Yeah, that’s a spoon.” - “IT IS ALSO A FORK!!1!!!”
Also: “Gotta Go! Gotta Go! They’re after me and the Scarecrow!”
(There are some dialogue blurps I have written down somewhere because they are inspriration for gifsets but in order to be able to just recite some of them from Memory, I would have to watch this show way more obsessively).
Worst Character Death
I don’t even gotta say anything do I? :D
But I think the character death that actually made me cry was Jerome’s first death. I clearly remember crying because...he just wanted recognition! And praise! And instead he was used as a pawn and betrayed by someone he idolized and he was only 18! My poor little meow-meow!
Seriously, the only things that make me cry on this show: Jerome’s first death, any and all mention of Bruce as a baby - told by an emotional Alfred, any and all Bruce/Alfred interaction at all and Solomon Grundy.
This made me so happy you have no idea Moment
I seriously need to rewatch this show, it’s been so long :D
But I remember being pretty excited for the J Squad Team Up - because I was like ‘If I were Jerome I would definitely work with Tetch and Scarecrow since they’re also in Arkham atm’ and then he did!!
And I also distinctly remember in S3 that I was close to falling asleep right when they scene came on where Oswald realizes his feelings for Nygma and let me tell you - it caught me so off guard, I was awake instantly lmao.
(I knew that people shipped them but I was so used to mlm ships being popular when they only have a handful of scenes and are platonic friends that I didn’t expect them to actually have a possibility of being canon).
From then on I was super pumped for them to deliver on that ship but well....we all knew what happened asnksnndk.
Saddest Moment
Aside from the already mentioned scenes in the character death column, the scene where Bruce leaves and Selina runs to the airport. I always liked Selina but she wasn’t a priority character of mine (much like Bruce isn’t) but then that scene happened and in an instant, I felt super protective over her.
She is now my baby. My daughter. My beloved wife. She deserves everything and most importantly she deserves better than Bruce Wayne.
(Coincidentally that was also the scene where I decided I don’t care much about Bruce asldjkjlj. I absolutely adore early seasons Bruce though).
Favourite Location
There are so many different locations, I don’t think I can adequately answer this with my spotty memory :D
But I always loved the few episodes where Alice features, because I love how her scenes are shot so probably the little carnival Jervis prepares for her.
Also!! Jeremiah's church!
Or Commissioner Loeb's secret house (Especially the Attic).
There are a lot of cool locations, I gotta gif some of them soon :D

“change in mind or change in heart?” for Supercorp :)
thanks for the prompt eliana!
send me prompts
prompt: “change in mind or change in heart?”
“You- you picked up?” Kara’s voice comes across the line in an incredulous tone for someone who’d dialed Lena no less than eighteen times throughout the day.
“I was getting tired of the incessant ringing. Whatever this is, it must be important. Otherwise you wouldn’t be blowing up my phone.”
Lena’s reply is testy, with maybe a bit too much bite but also absolutely not enough given their last encounter.
“Okay yeah maybe that was a little much--” and Lena’s already about to hang up, quickly realizing the situation is not as urgent as the many notifications had otherwise implied. She’s only just about to tap the End Call button when Kara’s much more subdued voice flickers into her ears again. “I need to tell you something. More like, I need you to be aware of something.”
The words strike Lena like a slap in the face. She’d passed the olive branch to Kara and had it thrown back in her face only days ago, so she now finds her patience wearing thin.
“Oh, so I’m in the loop now, is that right? What is this, a change in mind or change in heart?” she replies, and though she can’t see Kara across the phone line, she can imagine the wince playing on the Kryptonian’s face. “Am I friend or foe, a villain or whatever you call a hero? What am I to you? Because I can’t keep up anymore. Whatever you do or don’t do at this point no longer concerns me.”
“Lena, I understand that you don’t want to speak with me right now and I’ll respect that. But this does concern you,” Kara implores and Lena hates that even now, even with things such a mess between them, the little lilt of desperation clawing through Kara’s voice feels like a vice on Lena’s chest.
She sighs, willing whatever powers that be to have mercy on her. Kara, of course, takes the sigh as a denial.
“Please, Lena. Just, like, ten minutes and I swear I’ll be out of your hair and you won’t have to hear from me again unless it’s on your own terms and I’ll respect that and--”
“Fine,” Lena cuts in at the beginning of what she’s sure is a Kara-esque nervous ramble that she won’t admit softens the edges of her anger.
“Fine?”
“Yes, stop by the office. I have a bit of free time before my next meeting, you’ll get ten minutes.”
“Thank you,” Kara says, so soft and with the warmth Lena can’t deny she’s missed hearing directed towards her. “I’ll be right over.”
Right over to the Kryptonian of course means she’s there about thirty seconds after Lena’s ended the call, leaving no time for Lena to prepare for whatever ordeal is sure to come.
When Kara walks into her office and closes the door behind her, she’s dressed in one of her usual button-ups and slacks, a messenger bag slung over one shoulder and her hair back in one of its usual ponytails, glasses perched on her face. She looks the same as any time Lena’s seen her, and she can’t help mentally picturing Kara back in the suit. Hair down, cape flowing and shoulders pulled back, standing tall in a manner she can’t quite reconcile with the mild-mannered persona before her. She remembers calling Kara two-faced back in the Fortress, and wonders whether Kara even deserves the spike of guilt that blossoms in her stomach at the memory.
Kara, as if reading where Lena’s thoughts had wandered, pushes up her glasses in a nervous gesture that’s as endearing as ever. Have mercy on me, Lena mentally berates herself, trying not to think about how much she misses the little mannerisms from the girl in front of her.
“I… I appreciate this, Lena.”
“Please, just tell me why you’re here.”
She didn’t mean for that to come out quite as wary as it did, but honestly? This back-and-forth routine was something she’d never been a fan of and she was getting tired of it with Kara. She’d always tried to cut ties and get out quick -- sometimes going so far as to move to an entire new city. Isn’t that how she ended up in National City?
“I’m destroying Myriad,” Kara blurts.
At once, a hundred thoughts race through Lena’s mind, all fighting their way to the forefront of her mind. All she can really get out though is one surprised question.
“And why are you telling me this?”
And then Kara’s sighing and sitting down at Lena’s couch without being invited to do so.
“You asked me not to keep you in the dark anymore, and I know that that feels like a million years ago but it just… I needed to make sure you were in on this one. I didn’t want you to think I’m destroying it as a slight against you,” Kara says with the utmost sincerity that pulls at Lena’s heart without her consent. “Listen, you were right, before. I was being a hypocrite, not fighting harder against using Myriad, but I stand by the fact that it’s not safe in anyone’s hands, not even mine. Myriad is a technology that shouldn’t exist, and if it weren’t for my family it wouldn’t exist. So I’m destroying it.”
Well, what is she supposed to say to that? This conversation has gone on for all of sixty seconds and she’s already got whiplash. Kara’s staring back at her with wide, hopeful eyes and Lena doesn’t have a single word for her. As if expecting this, Kara barrels ahead.
“You said earlier, asked if I’d had a change of heart or mind. You’re right that I’ve been back and forth, and I’m sorry for that. It must be hard to know where I stand. I’m sorry about what happened at the Fortress. You reached out a hand to me the other day at CatCo and I--”
“Proved you didn’t deserve it?” Lena interrupts.
Kara sighs, and it’s only now that Lena notices some of the exhaustion on the blonde’s face. The slight droop in her features, the pained smile she’s trying to keep steady for Lena’s sake that doesn’t quite make it to her eyes. It unsettles Lena, and she’s not even sure why.
(That’s a lie. Of course she knows why.)
(The same way she knows why she misses the awkward rambles and nervous mannerisms and late night texts that end with one too many heart emojis for it to feel strictly platonic. She’s always known why.)
(That’s part of the problem.)
Kara’s reaching into her bag then and pulling out the book Lena gave her at CatCo during their last conversation, setting it down gently before Lena on the desk.
“I tore through this in one night, and it really did help,” Kara says through a wet laugh. “I want you to know that… it means the world to me that you were there for me when it mattered, Lena. Even with things so bad between us, you still showed up and did what you could to help. I know I’ve messed up a lot when it comes to us, but I’m grateful that even despite that you were kind to me after Jeremiah. Thank you for that, Lena.”
Kara stands then without another word, shuffling towards the door with less superhero grace and more the awkward gate she’s familiar with, but the difference doesn’t quite strike Lena as a slap to the face this time. Before Kara can reach for the door, Lena clears her throat and tentatively looks up at the Kryptonian. Green eyes meet blue and Lena can’t help but be struck in that moment by just how much she misses the girl standing in front of her.
“You keeping me in the loop like this… it means a lot. Coming from you.”
The words are awkward and stuttered, an echo from their last genuine conversation, but an acknowledgment of what this moment means for the both of them.
The gentle smile that lights up Kara’s face is worth it a thousand times over.
“I hope this isn’t the last time we talk,” Lena says then with a slight smirk, quirking an eyebrow as if to say, Remember when I first said that to you? Look at us now.
“I hope not either,” Kara responds easily, and maybe some weight lifts off both their shoulders in that moment. Then Kara’s closing Lena’s office door behind her, and Lena’s left with a room that feels all too empty all of a sudden.
*******
*BONUS*
True to form, Lena receives one more call from Kara, later that night. Breaking her promise to leave Lena alone, but this time Lena can’t help but feel relieved for it.
For a second, she’s not sure the call was even on purpose because of how long Kara remains silent at the other end. Just the shaky sounds of someone trying to steel themself for a difficult conversation.
“Myriad is missing.”

See You Again Part 2 is COMING SOON!
Part 1 [EXCERPT to Part 2]
Guess who’s flying to Pendragon, Zero?
He couldn’t stop reading her text over and over again. She’d sent it last night when he was on the verge of falling asleep and he had replied with silly face emojis.
This morning was bad for Code Noire. Between obsessed fans breaking into their shared penthouse and the police coming over to apprehend the trespassers, the group couldn’t catch a break. Their managers and security personnel aptly escorted the five of them out of the penthouse at 6:30 AM and into the entertainment company building to carry on with today’s itinerary while the cops busied themselves with inspecting and clearing the residential suite of other threats.
So he understood the confusion and surprise on Akito’s face when he demanded to know why Lelouch was grinning like a madman late into the afternoon. Lelouch was the quiet and neurotic one in the group -- obsessing over the tiniest details.
But how could he not be happy, though? C.C. just sent her flight itinerary in.
“That smile is threatening to split your face into two.” Akito commented, retying the end of his slender braid before resuming to pick at the strings on his guitar.
“Too bad none of the fans will ever see him this way.” Yukiya teased from across the recording room, busy tuning the bass guitar for their live session later on. Lelouch as Zero had a persona to maintain in front of the cameras. Clovis let them do whatever they wanted most of the time, but Lelouch still deemed that being cool, calculating, level-headed Zero was part of the show, so they left him to it. Behind the camera was a man who doted on his little sister and clucked like a mother hen towards all the members in spite of Leila clearly being the eldest.
“There’s always hidden cameras.” Suzaku joked, cringing when he didn’t catch the drumstick he’d launched into the air. It thwacked against his knee -- a noise that attracted Leila’s attention.
“Is it your ‘friend’ that you haven’t introduced us to yet?” Leila teased, eyeing their lead guitarist knowingly. He may be quiet, but he couldn’t hide his happiness around them. More than once, she’d caught him grinning at his phone while texting someone or disappearing to private nooks and crannies in the penthouse to talk to somebody.
Deflecting her question and the rest of the band’s sudden interest in his personal affairs, Lelouch flashed them all a winning smile. He loved each of them like his own siblings after Nunnally, but they had a reputation for teasing him unbearably -- especially Yukiya and Suzaku.
“Leila, I was clear to go on a day-off this Saturday, right?”
“Hm? I believe so.” She nodded. “You can ask Jeremiah again to be sure.”
Right… He had to settle things on his end first if he wanted to greet C.C. at the airport. Or at the very least, meet up with her after she settled in her temporary duplex for her internship at some company in Pendragon.

This is how it's done
Episode 5.15 at last.
While the emphasis has been on Nia's story in this episode, the synopsis made it clear Alex, Kelly and J'onn had a secondary storyline running as well. So again we were eager to watch knowing they were finally getting more than a token few minutes together.
Did it deliver?
Oh hell yes.
You just have to look on Twitter to see the praise being heaped on it by fans.
But first let's get the elephant in the room out of the way. William.
The opening sequence as Kara is fighting with Nia, and Nia has to be the one reminding Kara she has a date? Already covered by me and others, but to reiterate: that does not give a vibe of someone excited to be going on a first date. You can't even use the excuse of her mind was on the fight, because so was Nia's.
As to Kara at her apartment with Alex prior to the date?
Those words, "Cancel it for me."
Lets say (for arguments sake) it is nerves again speaking. Maybe it is, but that she is even having those thoughts? That she completely forgot about the 1st date, and needed reminding? If Kara can't get invested in the date, how are the audience expected to become invested?
As for the date itself. Kara arrives.... having been told by Alex to wear the blue top because .... well reasons .... and she is wearing the purple? So, not wanting to go with the best look then?
I didn't mind the date per se, although I did wonder if Kara was simply trying to not show pool skills, because I can't believe for a second, with Alex as a sister, and the control Kara now has on her powers (worry over lack of control would be the only other reason for her hesitation that I can think of), Kara hasn't been pulled into playing many times.
Did I get a date vibe? No. I felt more bonding yes (like why has it taken until now to even vaguely have that much), but date? Nope. Still not feeling it. If any of the above was a one off instance, you could shrug it off. But all of them? Sorry but as I say, if Kara isn't that invested in a first date, then we can't be expected to be as invested. However, that isn't to say that William annoyed me. In truth having him more on the sidelines was a relief as it finally allowed others to get some much needed screen time.
The Nia storyline.
This is obviously one extremely close to me, as my husband is transgender, and we have other family who are also transgender.
Nicole's input was definitely felt. Some of the lines she spoke were ones we have said ourselves almost word for word.
This is a topic that is one I've been extremely vocal about, and one in particular I have spoken about (in the William and Kara at CatCo scene) is the figures for transgender people killed in the last year alone in the USA, but more importantly that this number is likely not a true representation as many who die are misgendered after death.
It was so important to show just how bad for the transgender community it is. And no, it wouldn't necessarily be a fact Kara would know. Even those in the LGBTQ community aren't always aware of these figures. As for William being the one stating the figures back to Kara, again in the context I had no qualms about it. In fact having a CIS straight man write the piece and be a supportive ally is an important message in it's own right. I was worried that wouldn't come across, but I felt it did.
If ever there was a line that spoke volumes in this weeks Supergirl episode it was this:
"They want us to be invisible because of their own fears, they want to erase us so...... we need to shine even brighter." - Nia Nal
And shine Nicole Maines (and Roxy Wood, because the additional line about being a Black transgender woman - take my heart, stomp over it, then expect me to function), did. Both deserve so much praise on the way they delivered their performances.
I genuinely cried at some of this weeks episode, because the experiences have been ones we have faced as a transgender household. Being white does afford us a privilege that Black transgender people (especially the women) don't have. But as I say, it has been something I've been vocal about for a long time.
Lastly Kara and Nia on the balcony. Holy mother of god (or goddess), tears. Again. Nicole and Melissa once again were so good it felt like a punch to the gut. Kara wiping that tear off Nia's cheek. Big ugly sobbing from me. Gah! Just ....
Now Alex and Kelly. While I'm still craving a nice intimate atmosphere at home with them, having had so little of Dansen (and Kelly) it was a relief that for once Kelly wasn't given diminished screentime. Not only that, she was instrumental in helping Alex navigate through the VR world.
Alex having that PTSD flashback to being in the tank. Whoa, finally acknowledging it affected her and obviously still does. I loved how Kelly is so good at helping Alex maintain her equilibrium. You could tell it wasn't just because of her training or profession, but as a girlfriend who knows and understands how to communicate to Alex in that moment of stress, much like Alex was able to realise Malefic was manifesting as Kelly in the earlier part of the season, simply because she knew her girlfriend well enough.
Watching Alex train to get used to the Martian weapon, felt very reminiscent of S1 where Alex was training Kara early on. It was good to see her off balance for once in her training, as she has always shown a confidence in her ability until now. For those who complain she brought up wanting to be back at the DEO, as someone who has heavy military presence in our family (for at least 4 generations on my maternal side), I can safely say, going from military (and remember the DEO is recognised and spoken about in canon as being a military operation), and suddenly and unexpectedly thrown back into civilian life is one heck of an adjustment. It's an adjustment for most even when they know it's coming. To be so abrupt, so unexpected? Alex is going to want that structure back, and have that support around her. It is absolutely not unrealistic for her to feel this way or to talk about it. I would've been more surprised if she hadn't.
"And this is my gun."
Alex giving no crap. The whole rescue sequence was a joy to watch.
If I had a complaint, as I mentioned, I would've loved just a moment of real quiet intimacy between Kelly and Alex. We've barely seen anything of that sort. I hope we get something next episode (which also looks amazing from the trailer).
I could go through the episode and pick up so many times on how good it was. It was so much, I know I will have forgotten something I wanted to say. But I'm exhausted (almost no sleep will do that to you, damn being in the UK and these stupid o'clock viewing times), and it was so much to unpack.
Brainy, was barely in the episode but damn, so lovely (& heartbreaking) to see him give the information to the NCPD to help against transphobic attacks.
Onto a side plot, but finally we have more about Leviathan.
Leviathan have those bodies suspended.
What if William dies in 5.19 and becomes one of those suspended bodies for 5.20 or was supposed to, as Nicole mentioned on her Instagram story they still had scenes to film, and a couple were pretty amazing? With Staz back, would it have involved him, possibly as a sleeper agent? I've touted this idea before. While I would prefer that a MOC isn't cast into being a bad guy again, or killed off, I would more than happily see him simply go back to London and The Times. But I guess we wait to see what happens there.
But if, like Russell in 5a, he becomes an unwitting agent of Leviathan & a bad guy, cue fight scene, possibly in a VR setting? Maybe? Who knows.
Last but by no means least - they killed off Jeremiah. Since we're not entirely sure if Cadmus operated in the same way on Earth Prime as they did on Earth 38, we don't yet know the circumstances behind his death.
Will we get more explanation about it? Honestly I'm not overly bothered unless it helps serve a current storyline. Merely because episode numbers are running out, and it does at least bring us closure on his character one way or another. Something a lot of us have questioned for so long now.
As for complaints, the only ones expressing any real disappointment have been fans who have either regularly attacked other fans (especially those of in the SC or Dansen fandoms), or the outright transphobic users (I won't call them fans), who as the episode makes clear, are everywhere. The transphobes come out in force everytime with Nicole, so it isn't a surprise to see them again. As Nia says, it what transgender people face on a daily basis.
Plus with no Lena in the episode, it helps show that fans didn't need a Lena/Kara centric episode for this to garner such positive reactions, particularly from the LGBTQ fans. In some ways, as many have been saying (yes even SC fans), this Lena drama has long since gone by its sell by date and not having Lena once more stuck in her laboratory wasn't missed. And god, I say this as a huge Lena fan. I still want her on screen of course, but we need progression on what is happening with her. Both Lex and Lena have felt stale of late, and while I know it changes as we get into the last few episodes, I can truly say neither was missed this time. And before anyone jumps in, no this isn't bashing SC (I still ship both Dansen and SC, as well as Brainia), or saying SC shouldn't happen, or Lena is evil, or not needed. I don't think that at all. I merely am getting tired of a merry-go-round on Lena in her laboratory that we've had of late, & the only interaction has been with Lex. Time to break her out of that cell!
I don’t know what they were putting in the water in Vancouver when they did the Batwoman and Supergirl episodes this week, but they both had me simultaneously laughing & crying! It looked ugly for a minute there.
Both were outstanding episodes.
As much as I've had my criticism over some of this season, when Supergirl get it right like they did here, they soar! This was one of my top episodes for the entire series.
And despite all the news in the world right now, Supergirl trended on Twitter again.

The 100: 7x05 Welcome to Bardo
Here’s finally my belated review of 7x05. I was too busy last week (with actual work) so I couldn’t write it before 7x06 aired. Then I got a bit distracted with my Dark rewatch and Dark season 3 dropping. But I’m taking a break from it to finally post this review and then, hopefully, 7x06 not long after. It’s good that I did a couple of rewatches because I could notice more details. (The review was already halfway over a week ago, so I added some remarks in italics  that are things I only think now after seeing 7x06.)
This was an episode I was looking forward to and I enjoyed it, because it finally brought us to Bardo, in the belly of the beast so to speak (note: I wrote this sentence before I saw 7x06, and now I want to keep it because it’s just too funny that 7x06 put Clarke and co. in the literal belly of the beast), where the main action is likely to be, advanced the main plot of season 7 quite a lot, tied a few storylines and showed us Octavia in the present for the first time this season, and - not gonna lie - the highlight of the episode, 1 minute appearance of Bellamy, the first one since the first scenes of the season premiere.
However, I have to say that I wasn’t really impressed with the part of the episode that should have been the most interesting - Octavia’s flashbacks showing what happened to her when she was first taken to Bardo. It served its purpose by filling in the blanks, or rather confirming what I had already figured out, but for one thing, I didn’t get too much character focus in this episode, except for a touching Octavia-Hope scene and Echo’s disturbing actions in the end, which made for a pretty strong scene. And this time I was really bothered by the sloppiness of the details: from just how  inconsistent the time dilation rules (rules? what rules?) seem at this point (already a problem before, but this episode made it even worse, especially since it focused on the timeline so much) to the messy selection of flashbacks in the Memory Capture scenes (while the timeline is the writers’ fault, this was obviously a case of the editor being really lazy). Maybe this is just  nitpicking, but I find it really annoying when I can’t analyze details to come up theories because I have no idea which detail is a part of the plan and which is just a screw-up.
:Like everyone have some theories, including those about what really happened to Bellamy after his “death”. (At least they’re not even trying to make us believe Bellamy is dead on social media and in Inside the Episode features, like they tried last season with Clarke.)
This is why it ended up being an episode I liked less on rewatch, and I rank it behind 7x02, 7x04 and 7x01, although ahead of 7x03 (and, it turns out, 7x06). Even though the Sanctum portion of the episode was really strong and interesting this time.
Prepare for a lot of nitpicking of plot holes, and me about to incur the wrath of many t100 fans by explaining why I really dislike like the idea of an Octavia/Levitt endgame romance (it’s mostly because of their interactions in this episode).
This was the second episode this season where Marie said “Previously on” (I’m curious how many different cast members do it this season) and I think it’s the first time we saw the opening titles that were released before the S7 trailer, the ones that start with the Bardo Stone Room.

Sanctum
The deluded brainwashed folks in Sanctum who still worship the Primes have a name they have given themselves - the Faithful. And it seems that they call the people who aren’t brainwashed ‘the Fallen’. Has the show ever had  such an annoying character as Trey, their leader?
I must say I related to Murphy when he suggested that maybe they should just let them burn themselves if that’s what they want, instead of letting them exert control that way. Yes, I know it’s bad. But that’s one of the things Murphy is good for, to sometimes say things that we all kind of think but would feel ashamed of saying aloud - at least if it was real life. However, Murphy - and I’m sure everyone - changed his mind when he saw they were going to burn children. And the father of the child who was about to be sacrificed (who we now know is called Jeremiah) looked confused and terrified. Maybe it’s just Trey and a couple of other fanatical people influencing and manipulating the others. Unfortunately, real life examples of people doing horrible things - even to their own children - in the name of what they believe in, to make me hesitate to call this too extreme to be plausible. But what is going on in the heads of these people? At least before, when the people of Sanctum were sacrificing their children or other loved ones or themselves, they believed it meant living forever and being one with the gods, but this?
Nelson is becoming quite a likable character even though he has only had a brief scene or two here and there. (And then the show goes and does... whatever the hell they’re doing with him in 7x06.) Like this time, when he was the only one who tried to save the Faithful woman who set herself on fire, explaining that the people of Sanctum are still their people, even the Faithful. (Now this is a much nicer face of the Children of Gabriel. Where was he when CoG were killing Nightblood people/potential hosts, even though that’s not the most efficient way to stop the Primes - as opposed to killing the Primes and destroying their mind drives?)
Great little character moment for Emori when she asked Nelson: “Even though they cast you out?” He probably doesn’t even know how much that resonates with her. Is this foreshadowing her storyline this season? Will she have to interact with or do something for the Grounders - or even specifically her clan, Sangedakru (which also happens to be the clan where Sheidheda was from - and the most likely to follow him if/when they find out who he is, since they seem to consider him their “greatest champion’)? (The latter seems slightly less likely now that Indra seems to have made them respect her authority... but I doubt it’s going to be that easy...)
BTW, speaking of Emori. let me just address the speculation that she’s pregnant - apparently based on the fact she threw up?! She threw up because she got radiation poisoning, FFS. If she were pregnant, the fetus would at least be in huge danger of not surviving. Maybe the writers of The 100 didn’t know or didn’t expect the audience to know about the effects of radiation, but come on, they must be aware that everyone has seen Chernobyl.) And Jackson, a doctor, examined her right there.
Murphy being snarky: “I’m tired of being a hero”. Hmm... when was the last time, Murphy, you were a hero without someone roping you in first, or without you following Emori’s lead or making a last moment decision? However, while Murphy likes to claim he doesn’t want to be a hero, Bellamy told him in 5x01 that Murphy’s problem on the Ring was that he actually wanted to be a hero and felt useless because he didn’t have the opportunity. Still, he’s come a long way since season 1, when he wasn’t exactly that protective of children.... Granted, Charlotte was not an innocent, but she was still a child. And he was 17 at the time, now he’s an adult.
I’m enjoying watching Indra in her new leadership role and her stand-offs with RussHeda. It’s very fortunate that Adina is not busy with AHS anymore, and JR Bourne makes for a fantastic villain - in a completely different way than Russell was. Russell was soft and emotional while also pompous and hypocritical and seemed to believe his own BS, which made him all the more annoying. Sheidheda is much smarter and has no delusions about being a good guy. He’s scary and dark but he also knows how to turn the situation to his benefit and has very rational remarks about how ridiculous the Faithful are with their tactic. He clearly has nothing  but contempt for them. “My, my, what foolish little lambs you are.” (Which ties into this season’s themes of Shepherd and the flock.)
We learn more about Indra’s backstory, and this is the most I’ve been interested in Grounder history since... ever?
It’s also quite dark how she manipulates Jackson with his desire for revenge, by keeping the truth from him that RussHeda is not Russell. But Jackson’s dark side of his thirst for revenge for Abby has made him the most interesting that he’s ever been as a character.
I think that this storyline will eventually somehow tie with the main storyline. If nothing else then because Sheidheda and Madi are connected to the knowledge from the Flame, which is connected to Becca and ALIE and events from the prequel. Especially since it increasingly seems like the “great war” that’s being talked about may have something to do with AIs...
Bardo
Timeline and time dilation
Let me get this off my chest first... The timeline of this episode was confusing for some viewers in terms of the sequence of events. That isn’t the case for me - the problem is that the amount of time that was supposed to pass makes the time dilation seem really inconsistent.
So, chronologically, things happened like this:
in 6x08 (some 4 or 5 Sanctum days ago): Diyoza goes into the Anomaly; ends up on Skyring
Octavia goes into the Anomaly 6 seconds later, ends up on Skyring, 3 months (Skyring time) after Diyoza arrived. she gives birth.
Octavia and Diyoza spend 10 years there raising Hope.
Octavia sends a message to Bellamy in a bottle, not realizing the bottle ended up on Bardo (apparently, the default setting of the Anomaly, is: you go from Sanctum to Skyring and from Skyring to Bardo). Disciples capture her and Diyoza and take them to Bardo.
While Hope spends 10 more years on Skyring with Dev, before jumping to Bardo, Octavia is taken to Bardo, tried to run away, then is taken to Memory Capture. This is 45 (Bardo) days ago. She resists at first, but 34 Bardo days ago, she allows Levitt access to her memories and he starts watching them in a more coherent and chronological manner. 31 Bardo days ago, after he’s seen her memories up to the season 3 finale, Hope comes to rescue her.
Levitt helps them and Octavia is sent back to Sanctum, losing her memories, and runs back into Gabriel’s arms (no, I don’t mean it like that and I don’t ship them)  - 10 Sanctum seconds after she ran into the Anomaly! (This is still 6x08)
7 Bardo days ago (which is some 2 days ago on Sanctum) or 6x13, Hope (who had probably been immediately captured when trying to save her mother - I guess she and the Disciples spent 24 days waiting for Octavia to enter Hope’s mind code into the Anomaly Stone...) is sucked into Sanctum, stabs Octavia with the tag which pulls her to Bardo. Octavia is brought to MCap again, and apparently Levitt talks to her and then she is brought to the Stone Room to talk Bellamy down. Something happens to Bellamy and Octavia is made to believe he’s dead.
in the present, Hope, Echo and Gabriel (after spending 5 years on Skyring, which was somehow 2 days on Sanctum (?)) jump to Bardo, kill some people, pretend to be DIsciples and listen to Anders’ speech, find Octavia, and see the memory of whatever happened or did not happen to Bellamy.
Now this means that the time differentials between planets have been like this:
Sanctum: 6 seconds = Skyring: 3 months
Sanctum:10 seconds = Skyring: over 20 years (because Hope spent 20 years on Skying and at least a few hours on Bardo, all in those 10 Sanctum seconds)
Sanctum: a few seconds (under 10 seconds, probably a lot less) = Bardo: 14 days (from “45 days ago” to “31 days ago”)
Sanctum: about 2 or 3 days = Bardo: 24 days
Sanctum: 2 days = Bardo: 7 days
Sanctum: a little over 1 day = Skyring: 5 years
See the problem here?
@justbecauseyoubelievesomething pointed out before that the time differentials may vary a lot because of planets orbiting their suns (and Sanctum orbiting its planet and the suns) in elliptic orbits, so distances from the black hole change. However, the problem with this is that 1) they haven’t said that on the show and instead keep talking about the time differentials as if they are at least roughly the  same or similar all the time, and 2) these fluctuations vary way too much for it to make any sense? If it was just 1:3 and then 1:7, for instance, OK - but how the heck does the time differential between Sanctum and Bardo go from 1:200,000 to 1:3?
How is this supposed to work? Do people on Bardo go:
“We’re sending a team to Sanctum!”
“Understood! We will need just an hour to retrieve the target!” “But Sir... they’ll return in 20 years! We have to wait till next week, then an hour will be just 7 hours here!”
“All right, we have to wait for the next week then!”
And do these fluctuations happen just between Sanctum and Bardo or Sanctum and Skyring, or also between Bardo and Skyring? The latter would make their prison system quite complicated and tricky!
A couple of other pieces of info -
Levitt put the “Trust Bellamy” note in Hope’s arm during his MCap session (because he knew what Bellamy was to Octavia), but Anders apparently did not realize why Hope was bleeding or that it had something to do with Levitt, though he was the only one who could’ve had any contact with her?
One thing I don’t get is the part where Anders says: “it’s why you’re a prisoner dressed like a savage so you can get close to Aunty O”. Why did they have to dress Hope in Grounder-like clothes, exactly?
We also see that Meredith’s team was told to go to Sanctum and find Clarke - though it’s unclear why they waited so long to send them. Or why Meredith’s team waited about a day and a half to contact Clarke. We see Anders telling Meredith: “Because of the time dilation, no one will come for you if you fail” - and I have no idea that’s supposed to mean, especially since I don’t know what time differential it was supposed to be at the time.
Octavia in Memory Capture
...And I’m gonna nitpick some more.
Maybe it’s not a big deal that many of the scenes we saw as Octavia’s memories didn’t make sense, because they were either scenes she wasn’t present for or scenes from the future (relative to the moment when she was on Bardo the first time), but I expected better, after the wonderful attention to detail in last season’s Nevermind and Matryoshka, where neither the prop masters nor editors and sound editors made any mistakes with what we saw and heard of Clarke’s memories.
So, 45 days ago, when Octavia was first brought to Bardo, and Anders and Levitt were seeing random memories against her will, the first thing she’s told is to imagine someone holding out a hand to her to help her, and we see brief flashes of various memories (aka scenes from the previous seasons) before her mind settles of many different images of Bellamy:
Aurora with baby Octavia
Lincoln, just before his death
Indra - when Octavia finds her and talks to Clarke and Lexa (3x05) - of course this is there because of Indra, but I don’t know if Clarke is also supposed to be one of the people O thinks of: we see her quite clearly as she’s saying she must talk to Bellamy to save their people
and then a bunch of images of Bellamy - which is where things start not making sense, because while we see him
in the Pilot on the dropship (that makes sense)
in season 5 when he argued with Octavia (also makes sense)
but we also see him dressed Gabriel’s cardigan, which he only wore after reuniting with Octavia in 6x10, after she came back from Bardo, and one of the images is definitely from 6x13 when Hope came from the Anomaly (future scenes!)l
we also see the scene where Bellamy was looking for Octavia and talked to Clarke in 1x06 (where Octavia was obviously not present for! It’s also the scene right after the Aurora flashback - the editor were obviously being super lazy)
and Bellamy in an anti-radiation suit in 4x13 when he had to leave Clarke (the only way Octavia could remember that is if she had a telepathic link to her brother!)
Tumblr media
Other  memories include Murphy in Pike’s class (clearly just as a cool transition from a Murphy scene in Sanctum), but it was really funny how horrified Octavia seemed when Levitt asked her if he was her lover. ;) Levitt clearly got a bunch of images of her friends - including Raven, Clarke (from the Pilot!) and Indra, whose images we see on screen in addition to Bellamy - and he finally sees a bunch of memories of Hope on Skyring, which is what she was trying to hide the most.
At this point, Octavia desperately tries to make a deal with Levitt - he doesn’t mention Hope in his report, and lets her go later, and she’ll let him into her memories. Just before Levitt starts watching her memories in the chronological order, we hear some more of Octavia’s memories in her head (they aren’t showing on the screen, where the same flashbacks as before are playing):
banishing Echo in 4x11
Bellamy deciding to leave her in 6x03 (“Are you out of your mind? You didn’t need to kill anyone!”)
Miller saying “Blodreina gave that honor to me!”
Octavia yelling “You’re dead to me!” to Bellamy (in that disturbing scene in 3x10) and...
Hallucination!Pike telling her she caused a world to be destroyed and herself yelling she wanted “REDEMPTION!” - which is another inconsistency, because comes from a red toxin hallucination that she’ll only have after she returns to Sanctum (in 6x09)! At least you could say this was already in her subconsciousness, but these were supposed to her memories!
When she starts cooperating, Levitt basically binges the first 3 seasons of The 100 - or rather, a version of it where Octavia is the main character and everything is only from her POV - ending with 3x16, which is probably pretty significant, as they showed several moments right before Clarke destroyed the City of Light and the moments after she came back. We see Bellamy telling everyone what to do as they were fighting chipped people to protect Clarke, Clarke on the throne in the City of Light, Pike fighting chipped!Jaha, Pike saving Octavia, and, and after the destruction of the COL, Murphy and Emori hugging, and finally - Octavia stabbing Pike.
This is where Levitt goes “Yes!” - which makes me (and Octavia) feel real tonal dissonance. He reveals himself to be a true Octavia stan, the kind who thinks their favorite character simply cannot go wrong and who doesn’t just defend her and have an understanding and empathy for her motives and emotional states (which is great), but cheers even the bad things she did (which is not great). Now, if Levitt is meant to be a representation of a typical stan, that’s great. The show has, this season in particular (and even in S6 to a point - through Jordan) been dealing with the idea of Clarke, Octavia and other main characters as living legends. And a lot of t100 fans - including every single YouTube reactor I’ve seen - always cheers and says they’re happy when she kills Pike. I didn’t feel that way, so there’s that. And sure, some of that is because I didn’t hate Pike. But what’s more important is: that moment was never portrayed as a triumphant one. (It it was meant to be, it would have been Octavia killing Pike in a battle, or something similar to the scene where Lincoln killed Cage Wallace in 2x16, not Octavia stabbing Pike when he didn’t expect it, after they had fought together and right after he had saved her life. It wouldn’t have shown Bellamy and Clarke worried about Octavia, or made it her ‘start of darkness’ moment that led to her becoming a murder-obsessed assassin in season 4. And 6x09 made a point that Octavia herself saw this act as a wrong one - that she thinks she didn’t have the right to murder someone in cold blood even though she had legitimate reasons to hate him. The show generally doesn’t portray revenge-murder as a good thing. And that is true in this scene, too: we see flashbacks of Pike at his most heroic (fighting chipped Jaha and Pike right after he saved Octavia’s life) before the scene of her stabbing him, and while Levitt is like “YES!”, Octavia seems upset to see that moment again and a tear is falling from her eyes.
So why, then, is the show apparently portraying Levitt’s uncritical stanning of everything Octavia does as a great thing, and why are so many fans and reviewers convinced that Levitt is a great new love interest for Octavia, possibly her endgame love interest, because of his adoration of her and the praise her gives her? (And 7x06 has made me think that, yes, the show is definitely portraying him as a potential love interest.) Yes, I agree that Octavia needs someone to help boost her self-esteem and tell her she’s not a monster, that she’s a good person at heart, that she’s worthy of love. But it would mean so much more if it came from someone who was able to relate to her as an equal and also acknowledge her dark side and be critical of the bad things she did. “I understand why you did this and it doesn’t make you a terrible person” is different from “Everything you did is right and awesome.” I liked what he said about her as a child, how she was even then being responsible and protecting her mother and brother and not just herself by hiding. But it’s absurd to tell someone “You’re not a killer, you’re a warrior” right after you’ve seen them murder someone out of revenge in what most definitely wasn’t a battle or a fight. The fact is that Octavia is both a warrior and a killer. They all are - she, Clarke, Bellamy, all of them. Having a good heart and understandable motives doesn’t change that fact.
If Levitt is supposed to just be a Disciple with a crush that makes him help Octavia, fine, but I can’t see a potential romance there - it would be like  a relationship between a celebrity and an obsessive fan.
World-building
This episode was full of world-building info, probably what I liked about it the most:
Levitt seemed particularly interested in Clarke and the fact she was in the City of Light, which makes me think that the reason why she is ‘the key’ in the eyes of the Disciples has something to do with Becca’s tech and ALIE in particular, and that the enemy they’re afraid of may be some sort of an AI.
We finally saw Bardo. Not that it was surprising since we already knew from the opening titles and 7x04 that the compound was underground and that it was a dome with artificial atmosphere and that it included an arboretum, Stone Room, which is on the way to the cells, etc. I checked to see if it matched the layout drawn by Orlando. I had assumed that the numbers were levels in the structure, but while Orlando put Arboretum as 1, it is on level 2.
Tumblr media
It seems that all the Disciples were either black or white clothes. (Fits with the black and white way of thinking.) From what we’ve seen so far, it seems that the military, so to speak (fighters/those who jump to other planets) wear black, while the Stone Conductors, people who do the Memory Capture, other scientists, as well as other personnel (like janitors or gardeners/groundskeepers) wear white. Anders himself, the First Disciple, wears white, so I suppose he is one of the “civilians’.
Anders claims that the Disciples have risen above “lesser emotions” and learned to value the collective rather than the individuals. But from what we’ve seen of other Disciples, that’s BS. That may be their ideology, but in fact, they’re just the same as anyone else and just as prone to developing feelings of love and bonds of friendship as anyone else.
Levitt is Level 11! Which makes you wonder how hard the Disciples really check how ‘devout’ the Disciples are. But maybe he’s just too important as an expert,
We see the MCap technology at work. But we also see that it’s not easy to extract memories from an unwilling subject. Levitt has apparently mostly done this to the Disciples themselves (you’d think most of them would be willing, but obviously some were not, since they sound like they already have experience with unwilling subjects.) Levitt tries to get Octavia to comply because he’s a Good Cop by telling her that they may get his colleague instead, who will “burn right through” her brain. (But as we see from the Diyoza flashback in 7x06, that’s not true - the other guy, Kirsch, doesn’t do that when Diyoza is uncooperative. I don’t think they are actually able to do that.)
The Disciples usually send teams every 30 minutes (but these 30 minutes are drastically different on Sanctum and on Skyring!)
More about how the Anomaly Stones work: while Dev told Hope that all you need to do Is think where you want to go and the helmet will do the rest, it’s not actually that magical - in fact, you actually need someone (normally the Conductor) to push the buttons on the Anomaly Stone.
According to Levitt, pulling someone from another planet through the Anomaly is “ safe 8 out of 10 times". What happens the other 20% of times? Is it really being “turned inside out” as Hope said in 7x02?
It’s also confirmed that people lose their memories if they travel without the helmets from a faster to a slower time dilated planet (which I had already figured out based on the fact that the danger only seemed to exist when travelling from Skyring/Bardo to Sanctum and from Skyring to Bardo, but not the other way round).
When Hope was about to leave to save her mother, Levitt tried to tell her: “They have helmets, too, that means that…” – what? That they can see her? Meredith’s team didn’t see Raven, so it can’t be that. But do they have some other way of communicating? Do you have to be actively thinking for them to detect you? Whatever it is, she should’ve listened as she quickly got caught.
Eyes are important as it’s through them that the biometric signature/mind code is made. And the Disciples have a very quick way of painting/tattooing the code on someone’s back.
What exactly is the problem with the atmosphere on Bardo? There is a biohazard alert as Octavia is brought in and she’s checked for some sort of an infection (“she’s clean”). It seems that the problem is with some kind of a disease (especially with what we hear from Levitt in 7x06).
In the category of revelations that weren’t a surprise at all since the fandom has figured them out weeks ago, Gabriel realizes that there is a Stone on Earth (as we saw in 7x04 and in the opening titles - it’s the offline planet), by listening to Anders’ speech where he mentions that the Shepherd delivered them by a stone. (Confirming the theory that Disciples are Second Dawn even before that was technically confirmed in 7x06 and that Cadogan led them through the Anomaly some time after the Apocalypse and after burning Becca. I suppose they disconnected the Stone so unbelievers could not follow them.)
There’s a ton of new info about the history of Bardo. According to the Disciples, the compound was built by “Native Bardoans”, who went extinct before the Disciples got there. And they were supposedly giants, but were turned by something called “Gen9″ into “crystal giants”?! Levitt says that the whole min code could fit on a Bardoan’s arm? (How does he know that?) I call BS on that. The rooms and doors in the compound are tall, but wide enough just for a human-sized person to pass through. (And there are plenty of human buildings with very tall doors and ceilings.) The retinal scans are fitted to the human eye, all the technology is human-sized, and, most importantly, the keys on the Anomaly Stone are the size of a human finger. The whole thing reminds of many legends that various big ancient buildings were built by giants. I still think Eligius III people were the ones who built the compound. We still haven’t heard anything of them and where they fit. And with the time dilation, they could’ve been on Bardo for decades or centuries before Second Dawn arrived a few Earth years later.
What is Gen9? I assume it’s a disease (especially with all the mentions of the polluted atmosphere on the surface), but it’s also been suggested it may be a computer program, which would fit with the idea of the enemy being an AI or connected to AIs. I like the theory that it’s not short from “Generation 9″ but “Genesis 9″, which would fit with the religious themes (the Disciples mix and match a lot of pseudo-Christian and pseudo-Buddhist ideas). Genesis 9 is the chapter about God’s Covenant with Noah, where God tells him that humans should go and multiple and feed on plants and animals, but they mustn’t eat what has lifeblood in it still, and they mustn’t shed the blood of another human being. “I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.“
These are the transcripts of all the prayers and speeches of the Disciples from this episode, as much as I was able to hear them:
[prayer] “In the light of the Shepherd, for all mankind. He will save us from the war to end all wars”
[female speaker] "The Shepherd brings us wisdom. The Shepherd brings us love, for all mankind. (...) Humanity (...) (final days)… burned, (...) as bombs launched, your ancestors chose a different path. There will soon be time when we will be tested to a man, and we will be victorious. For all mankind!"
[male introducing Anders]“And now, it is my greatest honor to present the esteemed First Disciple, who will lead us through today’s lesson on the Book of Allness.”
Anders: “Thank you, Emilio. In the light of the Shepherd, for all mankind!
Let’s first take a moment to acknowledge our newest class of Level 9s. You’ve each demonstrated impressive devotion to the Shepherd. Our predecessors on this planet did not share that faith. Like our ancestors on Earth, they destroyed their world. Even before they were wiped out by Gen 9 and turned into crystal giants, their atmosphere was so polluted they were forced to build forests underground in order to breathe. Even the rain that should fall from the sky, falls instead by their technology. For that, we thank them. But where are they now? We know that by the time the Shepherd delivered us with the stone, the Bardoans were gone, extinct. Why is that? [Someone from the crowd: “They didn’t have the Shepherd!” Everyone laughs. Oh, Disciple humor... ] No, they didn’t, did they? They [unintelligible, Gabriel speaks over this part]… they lost their last great war. That same enemy is coming after us now. But, in the light of the Shepherd, we will not lose. [crowd cheers] We’re close now. We’ve located the key. After hundreds of years it has returned to us. Ours is the generation that will win the last war! Our Shepherd will rise [unintelligible] and we will win (?) this fight, for all mankind!”
Hi, Bellamy! Bye, Bellamy! See ya later!
And for the most important thing in this episode: yes, we were blessed with a rare and joyous moment,, a sighting of Bellamy Blake on screen (and not in MCap but in an actual new scene), as occurrence as rare this season as (probably) the Disciples seeing the Shepherd.
While absolutely no one is buying the fake-out death (about as convincing as Clarke’s in 6x04 or Octavia’s in 6x13, though I now wonder if leaving Bellamy out of the poster and Bob out of the Countdown was a part of the fake-out they committed to), there have been many different theories about what really happened there, if the whole scene was staged or if it even happened or was an implanted memory. (The glitch effects between scenes may have contributed to that theory, but the glitch effect occurred at random points, e.g. when Hope remembered  her conversation with Anders, and I don’t see why that would be a false memory.)
For a moment, I even wondered if Levitt talking to Octavia was her hallucination (seeing a comforting figure) because it seemed quite implausible that Anders and the others had only then started to figure out that he got too close to her, and that they were still letting her come anywhere near her. But 7x06 proved I was wrong. Well, maybe Anders has realized Levitt had helped Octavia and Hope and it’s all some elaborate trap where he is using Levitt as an unwitting pawn, though that seems a bit convoluted... or maybe Anders just isn’t actually that smart as we assume he should be.
I’ve never believed in the ‘implanted memory’ theory, and people have since pointed out that there’s a sign of damage from the blast in the Stone Room.
The other prevalent theory is that the whole scene was staged by the Disciples and that Bellamy himself was in on it because he’s been brainwashed. The arguments are - it’s unlikely that Bellamy managed to overpower a few Disciples after being captured unconscious, and that there’s supposedly something “off” about him in that scene because he had been crying just before that. I don’t think there’s anything “off”, and he had learned that Octavia was alive, so why do people expect him to be crying rather than fighting to save her? As for it being unlikely that he killed a couple of Disciples immediately, overpowered another and captured the Conductor - I’m sorry, but have you seen the Disciples this season? They are being killed by pretty much every main character. And maybe some fans see Bellamy as a soft sweet teddy bear of a man and think that only women on t100 are allowed to be good fighters, but canon Bellamy is pretty damn badass and really good at fighting. What would be actually hard to believe is that Bellamy could get brainwashed over the course of a few hours. I’m sorry, but no.
People also said the fact that Bellamy asked what the heck Octavia was talking about when she used the opportunity to tell him that Disciples wanted Clarke (”I’ll tell them everything, even about Clarke”) was a sign he had lost his memories or been brainwashed and that he didn’t know who Clarke was - which is a really convoluted argument. The simplest and most obvious answer is that he was surprised and wanted to know what they wanted with Clarke.
There was actually something odd about that scene - but it was Anders’ behavior. after Octavia said that line about Clarke and after Bellamy reacted to it, he got a very strange look on his face, and the camera was focusing on him. The second odd thing is that the Conductor got very upset at that moment and started begging Anders: “Sir, please, no”, before Anders shut him up - which seemed like an overreaction to the possibility of... what? Letting a prisoner go?  This makes me think that the Disciple on the floor detonating a grenade was a part of the ploy by Anders. He certainly was never going to send Bellamy to Sanctum - I have an idea where he actually sent him - but what if he was also signalling something to the Disciple - that he should detonate the grenade? Which would be a smoke screen so Octavia, Levitt and others wouldn’t know what really happened to Bellamy and would think he was dead.
But why would Anders want Octavia to think he was dead? It’s certainly not to make her cooperate, because that was only ever likely to have the opposite effect. But also - why would the Disciples focus on making Octavia tell them more about Clarke, when they could try to use Bellamy for the same purpose? From Octavia’s memories, they must have known how close Bellamy and Clarke are. (Or did Levitt tell Anders that? If he did not, that was an additional reason to suspect Levitt and hide information from him. If Anders was only starting to realize there’s a connection between Clarke and Bellamy, that could have changed his plans.) And they could do more with Bellamy than just try to get his memories. They could use him (his life, his safety) to draw in Clarke, the “key”. If Anders has sent Bellamy somewhere and wanted to hide his whereabouts and make people on Bardo think he’s dead for the time being, the blast could be a good distraction, before he plays that card. (All of this, of course, assuming Anders is actually smart.)
Now, where is Bellamy? He certainly wasn’t sent back to Sanctum, and Anders had no reason to send him to Skyring or Nakara (if he needs him alive and under his control, that would defeat the purpose), And there’s no indication that it’s possible for the Anomaly Stone to send a person to another location on the same planet. So, I believe Bellamy has been sent to Etherea. That would be the reason to finally go to the only planet of the 6 that we haven’t seen yet. I’ve also had the theory that Etherea is the slowest of all the planets - because, if you’re using time dilation as a plot point, why wouldn’t you milk it for its worth? And if that’s the case - good news is that Bellamy won’t get almost any older, but the bad news is that he’s lost all his memories. But not too bad of a news, since he’d get them back as soon as he gets to a faster planet.
This would open some juicy story possibilities...
An Echo of Finn (and Octavia?)
This episode continued the trend we’ve already seen in 7x04 - Hope is becoming more of a killer after her first kill on Skyring, Echo is reverting to her identity as as ruthless spy and killer (and occasionally murderer, as at the of this episode), in her 5-year single-minded mission to save Bellamy and now as a result of believing that Bellamy is dead and her mission was for nothing. And Gabriel is getting more and more frustrated with both of them, especially Echo, and constantly going “will you stop killing people, please?” (Well, not in those words.) (And I’m wondering how close he really got to the others, since they spent 5 years together and were preparing to jump to Bardo, but Hope never told Gabriel about Levitt?! )
There was some irony earlier in the episode when Hope seemed almost ready to attack Anders in front of hundreds of Disciples (she really hates him - I guess because she knew they were torturing her mother), and Echo told her to “pull herself together”, since it was Echo later that lost it, murdered Kirsch the memory capture guy in a particularly brutal way, and blew their chances of using him to get to Diyoza, which would’ve been a terrible blow to Hope if Diyoza hadn’t freed herself anyway, as we see in 7x06.
(Kudos to Tasya for being really good in that scene, she made Echo look genuinely scary. I’ve often criticized her acting, but this time she was really on point.)
So let’s talk about this moment and Echo’s arc this season.
Some people say that this is just a normal reaction to “losing the love of your life” and that everyone would react the same. But we’ve seen other characters lose people they deeply loved, and they did not react the same way. We’ve seen Bellamy react to Octavia’s “death” in S4 and Clarke’s “death” in S6. We’ve seen Clarke react to many of her loved ones’ deaths, most recently to her mother’s. Her grief over her mother was shown in detail over several episodes, and we saw her explode in the end, but while she beat up Russell, she stopped herself from killing him (and Russell was the actual person who murdered her mother and had previously tried to murder Clarke herself and stole her body for his daughter). In S6, Bellamy wanted to kill Russell (again, the actual person responsible for Clarke’s death) and burn the Sanctum down, but he stopped himself. In this very episode, we see Octavia react to her brother’s “death”. which she sees as very real, but she hasn’t started going around and killing anyone she gets her hands on.
Now, Octavia of the past, S3 Octavia, was different, far less mature, more violent, and she did react violently to Lincoln’s death, including becoming a murderer - now, the person she murdered was the one directly responsible for Lincoln’s death, but she also went on to become an assassin and became rather murder-happy, before stopping herself just as she was about to kill Ilian the same way Pike killed Lincoln.
Another obvious parallel is to Finn and the way he was losing control and becoming more violent, ruthless and selfish, from murdering  a  Grounder prisoner, to wanting to leave Mel literally hanging from a cliff because she was unimportant in his eyes compared to his goal of finding and “saving” Clarke (who, it turned out, didn’t even need saving and had saved herself), to completely losing it and killing a bunch of completely innocent people. The guy Echo killed here wasn’t really innocent, but he wasn’t responsible for Bellamy’s “death”, either, and Echo’s behavior on her quest to save Bellamy has been increasingly violent throughout the season. And, while we knew Clarke was alive and well, we don’t know where Bellamy is but he is still alive and will probably eventually meet Echo again, just like Clarke reunited with Finn.
(Mind you: I don’t think Echo’s killing spree is the reason why Becho will fall apart. The relationship was already disintegrating in S6, if you pay any attention. This is more about Echo herself and where she finds herself without that relationship. Finn’s killing spree wasn’t the reason why Flarke fell apart, either. Clarke still had feelings for Finn, but she had rejected him for other reasons, i.e. his earlier behavior. )
What do all these actions have in common? They weren’t romantic, they were f*cking unhealthy. When Finn told Clarke that he killed all those people for her, she was horrified, and I was really angry at him for telling her something that terrible.
In Finn’s case, he may have been suffering from PTSD, and his feelings for Clarke were turning into an obsession and made him look almost like a stalker. In Echo’s case, she has serious identity issues and her childhood trauma and conditioning by Queen Nia. But the show is, in this case, more open about the fact that, for Echo, it’s not all about romantic love. or love in general. She has lost her purpose. Bellamy is not just her boyfriend, he’s her King, like Nia and Roan before him. Echo’s own subconsciousness has been telling her that this is a problem, and that her relationship with Bellamy is very unbalanced. “Without Bellamy, who will you follow? Without someone to follow, who are you?” It also told her that she has remained the same as before she became a part of the Spacekru and his girlfriend: “Once a killer, always a killer.” ““The honorless spy who would do anything for her queen, even betray the man she now claims to love?” In S5 and S6, Bellamy was trying to not “make the same mistakes”, and “do better”, and was always rejecting Echo’s more ruthless suggestions of how to deal with any potential enemies, and she always fell in line as he was the leader/ Without him, she is reverting to her old patterns.
It’s not romantic or a sign of soulmate love to wrap your whole identity over one person. It’s really unhealthy. It was also unhealthy when Octavia said she didn’t have a home and didn’t belong anywhere after Lincoln’s death because he was “her home”. She had to grow out of that. Maybe she could offer some advice to Echo now. Will it work or not? I don’t know.
What I’m sure of is that Becho is doomed, but the writing on the wall has been there at least throughout season 6, if not already in season 5. What I don’t know is how Echo’s own arc this season will end. She will have to forge a new identity, but what will it be? Will she start following someone else? (That would be a pretty depressing arc.) Become independent, but still a ruthless killer? Will she start thinking about the morality of her actions as most other o the major characters do? Will she fail to find any solution and will die? Not every character on the show gets to have an uplifting arc where they solve their issues. Her arc is different from Finn’s because his dark arc was a completely new and shocking development, while Echo is reverting to who she used to be. But I think it’s more likely that she gets a more positive ending than Finn, because the show has been paralleling storylines in seasons 6-7 to storylines of early seasons (like Sanctum-Mount Weather) but with a more positive outcome.
Best moments/lines
While Bellamy’s 1-minute appearance was undoubtedly the highlight of the episode, my favorite scenes were Octavia’s reunion and goodbye with Hope (even with Hope being an adult now, Octavia talks to her as a surrogate aunt: “I love you, little one, don’t you ever forget it”), the scenes with Murphy and the kids and the battle of wills between Indra and Sheidheda.
The best line by far was Hope’s reply to Anders:
“This is what happens when you value individuals above the collective”
Hope: “It’s called love, you son of a bitch,”
Body count:
One Faithful burned herself.
another fanatical suicide: a Disciple who detonated the grenade (at Anders’ orders?) in the flashback scene with Bellamy
a bunch of Disciples killed, again. For a group that’s supposed to be so badass and scary, they really failing to be that, since they’re constantly getting their asses kicked. OK, they are not all Level 12, and Orlando was both Level 12 and a teacher of fighting skills. And yes, Echo and Hope (and Gabriel, who hasn’t killed anyone so far) have had almost 5 years of training  by Orlando, while Octavia and Bellamy (and Diyoza, of course) are incredibly badass even without it. But you can’t keep them getting killed so easily and expect me to take them seriously. This time, Bellamy killed a couple in the flashback, and Hope and Echo killed a few, including a particularly sadistic murder of Kirsch the Memory Cap guy.

OUTLANDER has kicked off its new season with a romantic start, but war is quickly approaching. Now Fraser's End will have to make some tough decisions as loyalties are tested during the American Revolution.
By LUCAS HILL-PAUL
Diana Gabaldon’s epic series has been adapted into a thrilling historical drama for Starz. As war becomes a reality for the time travelling lovers, the stars of Outlander reveal that war was also brewing on set between some of the co-stars
Season five of the historical fantasy drama takes its inspiration from The Fiery Cross, as well as some elements from sixth book A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
Diligent readers will know that time travelling romantics Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) will have protect their family against the upcoming American Revolution.
With pressures mounting, Jamie has just been issued an order from Governor Tryon (Tim Downie) to take care of the leader of a rebellious faction known as the Regulators.
Unfortunately this just happens to be Jamie’s own godfather, Murtagh Fitzgibbons (Duncan Lacroix) so the Fraser family will have to make some impossible decisions this season.
Tumblr media
However, before the war puts a strain on the Fraser household, the family took a well-earned break as the couple’s daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) enjoyed a traditional Scottish wedding with her now husband Roger (Richard Rankin).
Brianna and Roger previously had a baby named Jeremiah (or Jemmy) and the stars of the show revealed that having such a young member of the cast frequently made things very difficult.
Multiple young actors portray Jemmy in the show, and Caitriona revealed that they weren’t always as cooperative as they appear.
Speaking to ET Online she said: “They’re so sweet but that age is so difficult.”
Tumblr media
The cast were asked the question which cast member did the baby love the most, and she joked: “Sam definitely doesn’t love them the most.”
Sam agreed: “They’re so cute but it’s just very hard for young children.”
Luckily baby Jemmy is frequently swapped between two main young actors to avoid them getting too restless on set.
Brianna star Sophie also revealed that, despite portraying his mother and father, both she and Roger have had scrapes with the two child actors.
Sophie said: “I have a video of one of the twins telling Richard off for being mean to him.”
Richard sheepishly conceded: “I’ve been in trouble with most of the Jemmys.”
Perhaps the adult stars would do well to polish up their own behaviour to set an example for their young co-stars.
Not only do the stars of Outlander have to deal with badly behaved child stars, fans weren’t surprised to hear that Claire and Jamie’s kitten Adso was also a nuisance on set.
Tumblr media
Sam protested and said: “Adso would love me if I ever got a chance!”
Caitriona added: “The cat is a cat so the cat loves nobody more than he loves himself.”
Even though Outlander features one of the best plotted dramas on TV, the new season ran into some bumpy moments thanks to the bad behaviour from the younger members of the cast.
