Casually sees a TV show that hasn't aired in almost 20 years, who's story got cancelled by the company they were being backed by, and my brain immediately goes:
"HYPERFIXATE AND TURN IT INTO A FANTASY AU NOW"
And I'm honestly along for the ride.
Let me know if y'all wanna hear my dumb, completely insane idea

Started a rewatch of this show last week when I found out Skeet Ulrich was coming to the next comic con in my town. I went into it thinking there was no way it would hold up, that I must have romanticized how good it was in my mind after the (itty, bitty) fandom fought so hard for it back in the day. I am here to tell you that I did not romanticize anything and while the show is not perfect (what show is?), it is still so damn good, with several characters I would take a bullet for, and I weep all over again that it never got the love and attention it deserved.

Okay, but why does nobody talk about this show! A “realistic” apocalypse that doesn’t have zombies and showcases a small town in America surviving after a nuclear blast?! Come on. And Skeet Ulrich was masterful. AND it has like at least 3 members of the cast of Supernatural and The Walking Dead. Its’ lack of attention will never make sense to me.

When Fans Go Nuts: The Story of Jericho
In an unprecedented combination of fan and network gumption, was resurrected shortly after its all-too-premature death, and seven more episodes were ordered by CBS.
Mar 28, 2008, 02:48 AM EDT, updated May 25, 2011. By Anastasia Kousakis, Contributor, Associate Editor, Progressive Book Club. Source: HuffPost Contributor platform.

Ladies and gentleman: people are voting, the Giants won the Super Bowl, and network executives have given Jericho a second chance. It's good to be an American.
Let me explain. Last year a new series called Jericho hit the airwaves courtesy of CBS, and all I really knew about it was that Skeet Ulrich was the star. I don't have cable, basic or otherwise (I tell myself it's something that makes me cool -- I don't own skinny jeans and therefore must rely on other tactics). So it wasn't until I was perusing this very website 22 episodes later that Jericho bleeped on my radar. CBS had canceled the show, a story not unlike most in the world of the television industry, and a story I had come to know quite well (full disclosure moment #1: my father works in the television industry).

For some television families a canceled series is like Christmas: it comes once a year, every year at the very same time. For the few involved with shows that make it big, there is an enormous pool of wealth from which to draw, and I don't mean "wealth" as a euphemism for talent or creativity -- I mean cold, hard cash. I initially drafted the previous sentence with the following words: "there is an endless pool of wealth..." but immediately changed it, because the cold, hard reality (much like the cold, hard cash) of working in television is that frequently one's work comes to an abrupt and thankless end.

Here's where the story of Jericho takes a twist. In an unprecedented combination of fan and network gumption, the show was resurrected shortly after its all-too-premature death, and seven more episodes were ordered by CBS.
How did it happen? 22 days, 5,000 fans, and 8 million peanuts, that's how.

The campaign to save Jericho was not the first of its kind, but it was one of the only campaigns that worked. More than 40,000 pounds of nuts were delivered to CBS offices in both New York and Los Angeles. The idea came from an episode in which Skeet's character says "Nuts!" to an enemy, a reference to General McAuliffe during WWII. And what's more inspiring than the fact that the nuts were sent, is that it was enough to change the minds of decision makers who'd already decided. That doesn't happen in TV. Heartwarming stories are to the television industry what crying is to baseball. Second chances are for recovering alcoholics and the occasional ex, not TV shows.

Not long after the first bleep, Jericho showed up on my radar again (full disclosure moment #2: my father was hired to work on the second season of Jericho). And I couldn't stop thinking about the nuts. You develop a thick skin in the world of TV. You refrain from attachments and keep your hopes down (way down, in some cases). You try not to let small victories carry you away. There's little cause for celebration and a whole lot of hard work. You're wary of team spirit because any moment that team can be disbanded. In essence, you train yourself to root for nothing and no one.
But, as the CBS Gods are my witnesses, I do declare that the story of Jericho makes me want to fashion an antenna out of aluminum and bend and twist until Skeet's face is coming through on my usually blank tube. This is a show I can root for.

Just months from what is probably the most important presidential election of my lifetime, Jericho serves as a reminder that we, as American citizens, have the power to affect change (the C-word!). Americans love power, whether you're the CEO of a major corporation, bouncer at a nightclub, or holding the remote control. So let's prove CBS was wrong (and then later right). Forget Obama, forget Clinton and McCain; this (week-after-Super) Tuesday choose Jericho. I'll be watching. (At a friend's. She has cable. And, yes, wears skinny jeans.)

Nutty 'Jericho' Fans Make CBS Reconsider Canceling Show
Network reconsidering show's cancellation after receiving nuts from fans.
By ABC News. February 10, 2009, 6:43 AM.

June 6, 2007— -- A campaign to send CBS thousands and thousands of pounds of peanuts to protest the network's decision to cancel a television show appears to be working.
When CBS canceled "Jericho," a show about life in a small town after several nuclear bombs go off across the country, its fans started to rebel.
Internet chat rooms -- including a popular one on CBS's own Web site -- filled with talk about how to convince the network to bring back the show.
One method: nuts.

So far, nearly 40,000 pounds of nuts have been sent to various network executives in New York and Los Angeles. That's about 8 million peanuts.
Now it looks like the outpouring of peanuts might be working.

Quoting an anonymous source, The Associated Press Tuesday said CBS is reconsidering its decision to cancel the show. A decision on whether to bring the show back, probably for a midseason run, is imminent, the AP reported.
"They got us hooked on this great drama. … They make you actually care about the characters," said Kevin M. Russell, a fan-turned-nut-shipper from Fort Smith, Ark. "Then they pull the plug."
"Bottom line, it's to make a statement," Russell added. "We're tired of the networks telling us what to watch."

What started out as individual fans shipping nuts quickly became an organized movement.
Jeff Knoll, a fan in Oakville, Ontario, was thinking about shipping some nuts but was worried about them getting delayed in customs. That's when he stumbled across nutsonline.com.
He started talking to Jeffrey Braverman, whose family has run the nut distribution company now called nutsonline.com for three generations.
"I had never watched 'Jericho,'" Braverman said. "I was brushing this off at first. I didn't understand the magnitude of this."
He had noticed some strange orders coming in for nuts to CBS but didn't piece it together until Knoll picked up the phone.
That's when Braverman decided to revamp his Web site so "Jericho" fans could pool their resources.
Instead of shipping a few nuts at a time, the fans could chip in $5, $10 or $20 for a larger delivery that would make a statement.

i like to think there are true crime episodes in the world of supernatural that are just dedicated to dean winchester
because like okay
he gets arrested in jericho california one/two days after halloween in 2005 and escapes custody before they really charge him for anything then he disappears
then a few months later in december of 2005 he shows up in st louis where hes pinned for the murders of two women and then the attempted murder of another, BUT hes found dead in this same womans house and then theres nothing about him for months
THEN in 2006 he gets arrested in baltimore and is charged for trespassing, grave robbery, grave desecration, murder, impersonation, identity theft etc etc and also arrested at this time is his younger brother sam who isnt charged with anything (as a side note here his brother went to stanford and was studying law, he was on track to be a lawyer a year before this) then overnight while an officer is transferring dean to st louis he escapes and that same officer is found dead on the scene by his partner - around this time sam also escapes custody
and so then they disappear for a while and later he shows up again, in milwaukee where a bank heist is going down and hes supposedly held hostage, then after the original perpetrator of the heist is shot and killed dean takes over running the heist, at that point fbi is called in and they storm the building, they find three or so dead bodies and no dean or sam and find the two escaped by impersonating people in the fbi’s swat team and dumping them in a closet having taken their clothes to blend in and get out of the building
and so they disappear again for a while until a few months later they get arrested again and are actually convicted and sent to folsom prison. they spend definitely under a week in this prison and then escape and once more disappear
then in 2008 theyre arrested again in monument colorado and its planned that theyre to be transferred to a maximum security prison in nevada but before they can be transported they supposedly die when the helicopter thats supposed to transport them explodes, a day later though the sheriffs office where they were kept is destroyed and everyone in it dies
AND THEN. there is dead silence on them for YEARS. they become myth after this, some super weird criminals who go down in infamy in online forums and chatrooms and dean winchester is known as the guy who can never stay dead.
and then. dean and sam get arrested again. a decade later. yeah theyre alive still. who wouldve guessed. what are they arrested for this time? TRYING TO KILL THE PRESIDENT.

April 21, 2025: An Improvement in Stairs, Mairead Small Staid
An Improvement in Stairs Mairead Small Staid
Through the oculus of the bus terminal at Boston’s South Station, light falls for a hundred feet. A shock, a god, a pillar of light, like that of the Pantheon
if the Pantheon had a McDonald’s, a Dunkin’ Donuts, surly young workers at the Greyhound desk, & an escalator rising to its height—
just like it, that light. A patent for an early escalator called it an improvement in stairs. An improvement, surely, how I’m standing still & still, somehow,
going up & up & up. My favorite patents are the ones Houdini sought for tricks never performed: a block of ice he would leave whole, a box within a water-filled box
he would escape from dry. (I should mention: at least one thing in this poem is a lie.) I can disappear, too: from one place, from another. There’s nothing quite as nice
as leaving, when you’re in the mood. There’s nothing quite as nice as coming back. Years ago, I stood beneath the Pantheon & thought how beautiful, how sublime,
how like the bus terminal at South Station, if it had a Dunkin’ Donuts. During the war, Houdini offered to teach soldiers headed to the front
how to escape torpedoed vessels, German handcuffs. As a kid in Appleton, Wisconsin, he’d dreamed of playing baseball—
the stage of the stadium, the long fly making its escape. The way there is a place in the game called home
& the goal is to get there again & again.

Remembering Sabu
The Professional Wrestling world has a lost an icon today. ECW Legend , Sabu, has passed away at the age of 60.
I am very saddened and shocked. This article will be to celebrate his career.
Sabu was known for being a pioneer for hardcore wrestling. He would be very well known for this during his run with Extreme Championship Wrestling , also known as ECW from 1993 to 2000. He would make his wrestling debut in 1985 after being trained by his uncle , Edward Farhat , also known as The Sheik. He would have stints in New Japan Pro Wrestling ( NJPW ) and Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling. Therefore, he would have a brief run in WCW before being signed to ECW and becoming popular there. He have feuds and alliances with other ECW stars such as Taz and Rob Van Dam. He would also have a stint in TNA as well as be on the WWE roster for the ECW reboot in 2006.
In 2023 , Sabu would make an appearance in AEW , coming out of retirement to be in the corner for Adam Cole alongside Roderick Strong as Cole would face Chris Jericho in an Unsanctioned match at Double or Nothing. His last match would be against Joey Janela on April 18, 2025 at the ‘ Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9’ show for Game Changer Wrestling ( GCW ).
My Final Thoughts:
Sabu was one of a kind. He was so entertaining to watch as a kid and he’s one of the reasons why I absolutely love hardcore wrestling. When you mention hardcore wrestling to me , he is the first person that comes to my mind. All I want to say now is , Sabu, thank you for everything. We will always love you and miss you . You will forever be immortalized on my blog. My condolences are with his family , friends, and fans.
What is your favorite Sabu match ? Mine is Sabu vs Drew Galloway ( Drew McIntyre) vs Jack Jester . Or you can share your thoughts and memories of him.

Tyler’s middle name?
There has been a discussion surrounding Tyler’s middle name and what it could be. Some have theorised that he could have a French related middle name because of Françoise which is certainly possible. However, I have come to believe that because of Jericho’s status as a rural 1950s type town that espouses “perfect” Americana, then Tyler would have had a more traditional middle name.
Due to other theories that Françoise was from Quebec. The lovely @nouklea provided a list of popular boy names in Quebec from 2006 (the year Tyler was most likely born in).
I decided to use some of the names listed in a poll as possible middle names for Tyler. But I want to know what you guys would think / prefer?

Just had a dream that they removed Arabic from Google translate. I remember they added some weird new languages too but Arabic was just gone. I was upset because for whatever reason I had to translate something into Arabic and I couldn't. It also wasn't in alphabetical order anymore, the first language was some weird J shit like Jericho or Jeanjacket or something. Also it was weirdly vibrant? I remember the Google color scheme was like, an obnoxious red and orange except for the list of languages, which was still white. And it looked older, it was like someone's first website in 2006
