more young Jett and Eric content based on an actual conversation between me and my brother where he kin-assigned me Gaara from Naruto. they watched naruto together when they were both kids :)
here's the other comic i did about them
READ OUR WEBCOMIC WHERE JETT IS FROM
transcription under the cut
Jett: I'm working on my Gaara cosplay right now!
Eric: hell yeah bro that's awesome
Eric: Gaara's a great character for you to cosplay. You've always kinda reminded me of him, actually, haha!
[arrow pointing to Jett that says "major Gaara kinnie"] Jett: oh haha really? haha like how? haha
Jett: haha because I'm emo? Jett: you're the one with Gaara-ass hair lol
Eric: haha!!! no no!! i mean, yeah that too, but i mean like you as a person! like, y'know, you've always been more on the outside of things? more of a watcher, or an observer of society than a participant...? and like, you had a sad childhood, i mean not as bad as Gaara's, obviously, but still, y'know what i mean, haha!
Jett: Oh.. yeah... I guess that's true.... [thinking: (the "Does He Know?" thumbnail with the Riddler from The Batman) I won at kinning]
Eric: haha sorry I hope that's not mean, I mean it in a good way

Long exhausting post about my tylorpe playlist. It has 10 songs.
I don't have Spotify so it is boring and overloaded as well (also I can't see your playlists from Spotify published here, so I suffer)
To give you a taste: (Scissor Sisters, I Can't Decide) https://www.shazam.com/track/44522327/i-cant-decide
Oh I could throw you in the lake Or feed you poisoned birthday cake I wont deny I'm gonna miss you When you're gone Oh I could bury you alive But you might crawl out with a knife And kill me when I'm sleeping That's why…
I can't decide Whether you should live or die Oh, you'll probably go to heaven Please don't hang your head and cry No wonder why My heart feels dead inside It's cold and hard and petrified Lock the doors and close the blinds We're going for a ride
Music is my blood so I of course have playlist(s) for my every ship.
Usually it is fun, but sometimes it is hard. For example I was making my jevon playlist for more than a year.
But these two bastards... It happend in a couple of hours. It was made from leftovers. It is perfect. It is crazy. Those dramatic asses wanted to waltz to gay wedding songs, bless their souls.
In no particular order:
(from Tyler's POV) Britney Spears Monster
youtube
Why am I always the one who crashes every single time why am I always the one who is being chased by paparazzi Oh wait I think I know exactly why Cause I'm in every piece (oh yeah a beast oh yeah)
Everywhere I go I can't help I kill Shut it down I'm gonna shut it down People across the world they see my swagger Shut it down shut it down
(I'm a beast) I'm a beast (I am a monster) Yeah I'm a monster
(from both POV) Whitney Houston I Have Nothing
Share my life, Take me for what I am. 'Cause I'll never change All my colors for you.
Take my love, I'll never ask for too much, Just all that you are And everything that you do.
I don't really need to look Very much further, I don't wanna have to go Where you don't follow. I will hold it back again, This passion inside. Can't run from myself, There's nowhere to hide.
Don't make me close one more door, I don't wanna hurt anymore. Stay in my arms if you dare, Or must I imagine you there. Don't walk away from me. I have nothing, nothing, nothing If I don't have you, you.
You see through, Right to the heart of me. You break down my walls With the strength of your love.
I never knew Love like I've known it with you. Will a memory survive, One I can hold on to?
(From Tyler's POV) Joan Jett and the Blackhearts You drive me wild
You know when you're close you really turn me on That's why I want you so bad when your gone, yeah Come on, come on and take me home Please stay with me and don't you leave me alone
You drive me wild, yeah yeah You know you do, uh huh You drive me wild, oh yeah You know I need you, ooh ooh
You're on my mind always my one desire And let's get together and build us a fire Make me tremble and make me shake Pleasin' each other rockin' till daybreak
Don't hold off do it, I need your lovin' I'm getting so hot, I'm cooking like an oven My head is all filled with crazy thoughts Love like this just can't be bought
(From Xavier's POV) Arctic Monkeys Baby I'm Yours
Baby, I'm yours (baby, I'm yours) And I'll be yours (yours) until the stars fall from the sky Yours (yours) until the rivers all run dry In other words, until I die
Baby, I'm yours (baby, I'm yours) And I'll be yours (yours) until the sun no longer shines Yours (yours) until the poets run out of rhyme In other words, until the end of time
I'm gonna stay right here by your side Do my best to keep you satisfied Nothin' in the world could drive me away Every day, you'll hear me say
Baby, I'm yours (baby, I'm yours) And I'll be yours (yours) until two and two is three Yours (yours) until the mountain crumbles to the sea In other words, until eternity
Baby, I'm yours 'Til the stars fall from the sky Baby, I'm yours 'Til the rivers all run dry Baby, I'm yours 'Til the sun no longer shines Baby, I'm yours 'Til the poets run out of rhyme
(From Tyler's POV) Kele Okereke My Guy
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day When it's cold outside I've got the month of May
Well I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My guy I'm talkin' 'bout my guy
I've got so much honey the bees envy me I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees
Well, I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My guy I'm talkin' 'bout my guy
Hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey Oh, oh
I don't need no money, fortune or fame I've got all the riches, baby, that one man can claim, oh oh
I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My guy I'm talkin' 'bout my guy
(from Xavier's POV) Soft Cell What
Do you want me to Get down on my knees Beg you baby, please Cry a million tears Do you want me to Call you on the phone Beg you to come home Think of all the years When I once lived in paradise When the love light shone in your eyes
Oh baby What can I do when I still love you What can I say when I still want you What can I do What can I say You'll never know this way
Do you want me to Follow you around Everywhere in town Do you want a clown Why do you Treat me mean and cruel Breaking every rule Can I be your fool We can make this a happy home So come back where you belong
Oh baby What can I do when I still love you What can I say when I still want you What can I do What can I say You'll never know this way
Please forgive me, come back, and then We can fall in love Over and over and over and over again
(from both POV, truly their song) Scissor Sisters I Can't Decide
It's not easy having yourself a good time Greasing up those bets and betters Watching out they don't four letter Fuck and kiss you both at the same time Smells like something I've forgotten Curled up, died and now it's rotten
I'm not a gangster tonight Don't wanna be a bad guy I'm just a loner baby And now you've got in my way
I can't decide Whether you should live or die Oh, you'll probably go to heaven Please don't hang your head and cry No wonder why My heart feels dead inside It's cold and hard and petrified Lock the doors and close the blinds We're going for a ride
It's a bitch convincing people to like you If I stop now call me a quitter If lies were cats you'd be a litter Pleasing everyone isn't like you Dancing jigs until I'm crippled Slug ten drinks I won't get pickled
I've got to hand it to you You've played by all the same rules It takes the truth to fool me And now you've made me angry
Oh I could throw you in the lake Or feed you poisoned birthday cake I wont deny I'm gonna miss you When you're gone Oh I could bury you alive But you might crawl out with a knife And kill me when I'm sleeping That's why…
I can't decide
(From Tyler's POV) Simply Red Stars
Anyone who ever held you Would tell you the way I'm feeling Anyone who ever wanted you Would try to tell you what I feel inside The only thing I ever wanted Was the feeling that you ain't faking The only one you ever thought about Wait a minute can't you see that I
I wanna fall from the stars Straight into your arms I, I feel you I hope you comprehend
For the man who tried to hurt you He's explaining the way I'm feeling For all the jealousy I caused you States the reason why I'm trying to hide As for all the things you taught me It sends my future into clearer dimensions You'll never know how much you hurt me Stay a minute can't you see that I
(From Tyler's POV) Madonna White Heat
Get up, stand tall! Put your back up against the wall! 'Cause my love is dangerous This is a bust
You think you can have my love for free Well I've got news for you, that's not the way it's gonna be So don't come hangin' round my door If you're not ready to give, you're not gonna get much more.
I don't want to live out your fantasy Love's not that easy This time you're gonna, gonna have to play my way Come on make my day!
Can you feel the rhythm of my mind Boy, I've got so much to give, But I don't want to waste my time I can't let my heart put on a show 'Til you surrender baby, you've got to let it go.
Drop your weapons, you'd better come clean I've got you covered, I'll catch you when you fall to me I'm not gonna hurt you, 'cause I'm not that kind We're not goin' nowhere 'till you have a change of mind.
And as you already guessed, Tyler is fond of Rosemary Clooney's Sway, but he sings 'violence' instead of 'violins', the beast)
When marimba rhythms start to play Dance with me Make me sway Like the lazy ocean hugs the shore Hold me close Sway me more Like a flower bending in the breeze Bend with me Sway with ease When we dance you have a way with me Stay with me Sway with me Other dancers may be on the floor Dear, but my eyes will see only you Only you have that magic technique When we sway i grow weak I can hear the sound of violins Long before It begins Make me thrill as only you know how Sway me smooth Sway me now Quien sera el que me quiere a mi Quien sera Quien sera Quien sera el que me de su amor Quien sera Quien sera I can hear the sound of violins Long before It begins Make me thrill as only you know how Sway me smooth Sway me now Sway me smooth, sway me now!

Hey! Sorry for not placing any requests lately, I have no specific ideas so can you write something about yoru? I really love this character, you can choose any situation, I really like your writings, anyway, kisses from Brazil (sorry for my bad english again) :>
Then i will try to do something for you! Please don't hesitate to request for more dear~ I'll also use my own character with Jett for once... If you don't like it, please let me know, I won't use it next time <3 (I love jett a lot omg-)
Normally, today you and Yoru would go out to have fun together since you two were off. However, Jett, Mari, Raze, and Phoenix followed you the moment they saw you coming out. Since the young ones of the agents were going out together, you invited Killjoy as well.
Because they didn't intend to let the two of you go.
Yoru rolled his eyes as he walked through the fair with his arm around your shoulder.
"I really can't believe you all running after us and clinging to us."
Mari was walking next to Yoru and you, taking Jett's arm.
"It's too late to whine, Yoru, I could go somewhere with Jett."
"Then why didn't you go together!? Since she's my girlfriend, maybe I want to spend some alone time with her on my day off!"
You let out a whining deep breath, they both stopped arguing and looked at you.
"Ok, it's really too late for it. Can't we just have fun?"
"(Y/N) is right, you all said we came here to have fun. I don't think I remember wrong. Besides, I haven't been to a place like this for a long time. If everyone wants to try different things, let's break up so you can find the solitude you're looking for. We'll meet at the fair entrance again in an hour. Me, Raze and Phoenix can leave as a group. Mari and Jett can come too if they want to come. Any problems with this plan?"
Killjoy smiled as everyone shook their heads in the negative. Phoenix stood by to praise Killjoy with his usual high energy.
"Dude how fast you set it all up, you're really genius Killjoy!"
Killjoy smiled proudly and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Ha, I know. You all just needed some order. If you have nothing else to say, let's go. Are you two coming, Jett?"
Jett took her eyes off the buffets across from them and looked at Killjoy.
"Hm? Ah yes, let's go."
As they were leaving, you waved after them and started walking in the opposite direction from them with Yoru;
"Well, young lady, where would you like to go?"
"Are you afraid of heights?"
~Timeskip~
"What the fu-"
While you were laughing at Yoru's reactions, Yoru was looking down from the Ferris wheel.
"How high are we!?"
"It won't be that scary if you sit next to me, there are scarier ones than that."
"I didn't say scary! Just... high."
You laughed and kissed him on the cheek as Yoru sat next to you. Yoru put his arm around your shoulder and kissed the top of your head. It was quite nice to watch the scenery with him, also Yoru seemed used to it. You had a lot of fun with the others too, but sometimes you needed to spend time together.
The Ferris wheel was going down slowly, when you got all the way down you started walking around with Yoru to get down and try other things. When you saw a hit game, Yoru headed straight there with the guarantee that he would get you a reward.
"Are you sure you can take it?"
"How many times do I have to tell you to trust your boyfriend (Y/N)?"
"I'll be convinced if you do."
You knew Yoru wouldn't get it because there was always cheating in this kind of game. You watched him curse in Japanese every time he failed and laughed at him. After a while, you started walking towards the entrance of the fair to meet the others with your plush toy in your hand.
"As a result, I won that toy for you."
"Buying doesn't count as winning. But thank you anyway, baby."
You stood on tiptoe and kissed Yoru gently. He threw the thread over your shoulder, pulled you lightly towards him, and kissed you on the cheek;
"You do know you're cuter than that toy you're holding, right?"
"Yeah, sure! But my bunny cute too, don't upset her."
You had already arrived at the entrance of the fair while Yoru was laughing at you. You had to wait as the others hadn't arrived yet. While you were looking around, you saw a seller selling cotton candy. You tugged on Yoru's arm, trying to get his attention.
"Yoru, Yoru!"
"What happened?"
You pointed at the seller and looked at Yoru;
"We have to take it!"
"If our little lady says so, we must!"
He went with you to the seller, paid for the cotton candy, and looked at you while waiting for you to choose;
"Which one do you want?"
"Above!"
"I can get it for you if you beg."
"Oh! I'll pick another one, you'll see."
"But you like the one above, you want it, right?"
"Ugh okay... Can you get some cotton candy upstairs for me, baby?"
Yoru laughed at your sweet expression and cupped your cheeks with his hands and squeezed them lightly;
"Look how cute you are."
"Come on, give it to me!"
While he was laughing, you were looking around to see if the others had arrived. At the entrance to the fair, Jett and Mari were waiting for the others, playing rock-paper-scissors. When Yoru handed you your cotton candy, you kissed his cheek and took the cotton candy. You took Yoru's hand and went to the two girls. Mari was laughing at her as Jett complained to Mari that she kept losing. Mari waved when they noticed you two;
"Welcome! We broke up with them after a while as our guys were trying to get on all the toys. I just called them and they'll be here soon."
"I want a rematch, you cheated!"
Jett puffed out her cheeks and folded his arms across her chest. Mari laughed at her and kissed her on the cheek and hugged her;
"I'm not going to offend you because you're so cute but we'll continue at home okay?"
"So be it then."
Killjoy, Phoenix, and Raze had also arrived, with the only difference being Killjoy looked like she was ruined. Raze held her while Killjoy held her stomach;
"Fuck my fun, so I can't have fun."
"We didn't expect it to be this bad! Don't say it, can we do something else?"
"Forget it, I'm messing with you."
Phoenix had stood in front of Killjoy to speak;
"If you don't want to go anywhere this week, we'll go out to dinner together next week, okay? Because this place makes me dizzy even."
"Why are you trying so hard? You just go."
At that time, you gave your cotton candy to Yoru to hold and went to Killjoy and grabbed her from the other side;
"Without you, who would suddenly silence our discussion and divide us into groups? Besides, you are our genius friend, as the youth of the agents, we can't leave each other. You're coming with us next week, we're having fun together."
"Oh, you're so goood! My energy is back, let's go back!"
Raze cheerfully walked out of the fair with Killjoy and you.
You thought tonight was a good night in every way. Since you couldn't spend time alone with Yoru, although you were close at first, you would now regret your previous thoughts. The other agents weren't inconsiderate, they just wanted to go together because they were too friendly and left you alone anyway. Now you were muttering to yourself;
'I guess I'm pretty lucky, after that my luck won't turn around again. I have to protect what I've earned so far. Whatever happens.'

love/hate songs
Since 8tracks is messed up and playmoss is gonna disappear and Spotify doesn't have many songs, I’m posting some of my playlists here. This is a list of songs about love/hate relationships for pairings. Enemies to lovers, tsundere personalities, hero/villain couplings, opposites attract, loving someone you know you shouldn't. This list is several years old so the songs are older and kinda ‘scene.’
Major trigger warnings for the lyrics of these songs. Some songs have violent lyrics. This playlist romanticizes conflict.

The light in her dorm bathroom was dull. It wouldn't have been a problem but. Sam didn't know who she was anymore. Couldn't recognise herself in her shaggy hair and stolen Led Zeppelin shirt. Maybe she'd be able to, if the light above the sink was just a bit brighter. It wasn't the light, she knew. Or the mildew mirror, or her clothes. Everything she owned was second hand or hand-me-downs. Even her personality, she worried, was made up of the girls she crushed on, and her brother, and even worse her dad. Who was she without her family's shadow cast over her? Her mom's hand resting heavily on her shoulder. Who was she? Because Sam Winchester, dorm 513, didn't feel right. Miss Winchester, full ride, 4.0 was cement in her mouth. And so she had scissors in shaking hands. She couldn't cut parts of herself away. But shorter hair might be a start. And then the bathroom swung open. A girl, blonde hair like a halo, walked in. Eyes half closed, not concentrating, couldn't see Sam there. Stupid Sam who had forgotten to lock the door. The girl was sat on the toilet before she looked up. Blue eyes and suddenly, Sam knew why people wrote about the ocean. "Oh my God, I didn't see you! I'm so sorry!" "No, it's my fault. Should'a locked the door," Sam's saying and she's so scared to look at this girl. The scissors are still in her hand, pressed to temple, contemplating shaggy bangs. And the girl, fingers so gentle, pull's Sam's hand away. "You can't cut your own hair," she said. Before Sam could apologise, the girl was weaving her fingers in the tangled mess. "Girl code 101, never let someone cut their own bangs because they are clearly going through it." Scissors down on sinks edge. Sam's hair was still a mess but this girl, who smelled like coconut and beer, was stroking Sam's back. Soothing her. "What's going on?" And Sam was kind of crying. No tears but the sobs were shaking them both. She held onto this girl for dear life, couldn't tell her everything. Couldn't say that her family stopped monsters and Sam didn't know how to not do that, that she'd been watching her professors for signs of werewolves. So finally, she settled. "My dad never let me cut my hair and," she sobbed. "He kicked me out, I miss my brother. And I hate him. I-" "It's okay," the girl shushed. She was still holding Sam. She was so much shorter but her arms fit around Sam's shoulders and she just kept whispering it's okay. And it was okay, the blubbering stopped. "It's okay, your dad's a dick, you're worth so much more, honey, trust me." "I'm sorry," Sam whispered. "Don't be sorry, listen to me, sometimes we need to cry these things out. It's okay to be sad, everyone's sad sometimes, and your dad sounds so horrible. I'm sorry he did that to you. But you're still good, okay?" "Okay." "What's your name?" She asked, and Sam told her. Would have told her everything. "Okay Sam, I'm Jess, and if you want, I'll cut your hair for you. I'm a few beers down so I can't promise it'll be straight-" "Not an issue for me," Sam said before she could stop herself. And she prepared for the worst, every high school taunt she could think of but Jess- such a pretty name- Jess was laughing. "Good, good to know." Her fingers were pulling on strands of hair and it just enough that Sam felt at home. And then there was a chunk of hair in the sink. And another. Wet hair stuck to the side where the porcelain couldn't quite dry. Another clump. Sam didn't dare look up but Christ, she felt light. And Jess carried on cutting until her hair sat on her shoulders. Sam looked up, looked in the streaked mirror. There she was. Messy and uneven, barely there curls. But she couldn't see a grainy photo of her mother when she looked at herself anymore. There wasn't a hand on her shoulder. Until there was. And Jess was leaning in, wrapping herself around Sam like cling film. She was all smiles, pink lips, creased eyes. Sam smiled too. "What d'ya think? It's a little Joan Jett but-" "I like Joan Jett," Sam said. "I like the hair. I look, I look good." And Sam marvelled, because she wasn't the spindly little girl anymore. Awkward teen with unruly hair who spent her lunch in the library. Not her father's daughter. She was just Sam. "You always looked good," Jess said, hugging her so tight. "You just took out your anger for your dad on yourself." It was silent for a moment, except for the soft buzzing of fluorescent light. And then Jess took a deep breath. "Do you like my lip gloss, Sam?" Sam had to act like she hadn't been staring at Jess' mouth. Looked down quick, pretending to check. "Uh, yeah, it's a pretty colour." And Jess pulled her down. Planted a soft kiss on pliant lips. Held her there for a second, and all Sam could think of was flower fields and the birth of Venus and delicate touch and there's someone kissing her, beautiful girl kissing her and. And it's over in a second. Jess is pulling away, eyes bright. Sam can still taste her, or maybe it's the lip gloss. "There, now you're wearing a pretty colour too," Jess said, like she hadn't just upended Sam's life. "I have to get back to my friends but, come hang out with me sometime?" There was a lump in her throat and Sam couldn't talk, couldn't even hum. She managed a nod. "Awesome, I'm in room 409. Just swing by any day after classes end, okay? Whenever you feel like it." "Okay." "Sam, you're cool, you know that. Worth more than whatever your shitty dad says about you." And Sam laughed, because never in her life had she been cool. Not once. Not there in the bathroom, so dumbstruck by a pretty girl that she couldn't talk. But if Jess thought she was cool, that was enough. Jess was hugging her. Holding her tight. And then she was gone. And Sam was alone in the bathroom. Just her and the lingering ghost of the kindest girl in the world. How was she ever going to forget about Jess.

Kintsugi: Chapter 11
Summary: Final Crisis/Red Robin AU. Dick admits Tim to a psychiatric facility after Bruce is lost in time. Jason finds him suffering at the hands of a Scarecrow-copycat and breaks him out. While safe in Jason’s apartment, Tim still struggles with panic attacks and drug withdrawal. At a loss for what to do, Jason calls Roy Harper.
Pairings: Jason Todd & Tim Drake, Jason Todd & Dick Grayson, Roy Harper & Jason Todd.
                                                   -   -   -   -
Tim stood in the kitchen and spun Jason’s burner phone around in quick circles on the countertop. He glanced up at Jason who was leaning against the other side of the counter, trying — and failing— to look casual. Between them, the clock on the wall ticked out the seconds in its endless rhythm.
Tim sighed. “I’m calling him again.”
He reached for the phone, but not before Jason slapped his hand down over it. “You’ve already called him twice in an hour. Maybe give it a little longer, yeah?”
“He could already be on a flight back to Star City.”
“He can’t leave here without picking up his stuff first.”
“Yes,” Tim countered. “I’m pretty sure he can.”
He gestured toward the living room couch where Roy had recently been bunking. A duffel bag rested against a stack of folded blankets on one end of the couch. “He packed light to begin with. I don’t think he’s gonna miss a few pairs of clothes and a travel toothbrush.”
Other than that there was no evidence that Roy ever lived here. It served as another reminder of how easily he could lose this lifeline— how Roy could step out that door one day, not return, and who would Tim turn to then? Jason? Well… yes, there was always Jason— would always be Jason. At least that he was getting more and more certain of with each passing day.
Jason held up his hands, placatingly. “Look, all I’m trying to say is that I don’t think we want to come off as desperate right now.”
Tim rolled his eyes. “We are desperate. I sure as shit don’t know the first thing about safely tapering off benzodiazepine. Jury’s still out on if you do.”
Jason’s expression tightened. “Now that’s just rude.”
He didn’t doubt that Jason could step up to the plate, take a crash course in drug treatment and recovery, and help him through it. It was the steep learning curve he was afraid of and the trial and error that went with it.
“Well, not for nothing, Jason, but if you get it wrong I could die.” They locked eyes and held each other's gaze in what seemed to be the world’s longest, and most judgemental, staring contest. Finally, Jason pulled his eyes away.
“You know what? Nope. We’re not doing this.” He grabbed the phone off the counter and shoved it into the back pocket of his jeans.
Tim trailed him as he made his way out of the kitchen and headed for the garage. He called out at his retreating back, “Not doing what? Being realistic about this situation?”
“No,” Jason countered over his shoulder, still moving quickly through the rooms of his safehouse. “Turning on each other the second things get difficult and forgetting we’re in this together.”
Jason pushed open the door to the garage and Tim caught it behind him before it could swing shut in his face. “Whose we?”
“You, me, and Roy. We’re a team.”
Tim came up short, taking a moment to process that. He watched Jason from the top of the stairs as he messed around in a container, continuing his speech all the while. “We owe it to him to have a little faith and to give him some time to come back to us.”
“But what if he doesn’t—”
“Don’t think about that right now.”
Tim threw up his hands. “You say that like it’s so goddamn easy!”
“Give him time to call or come home, Tim. Until then, bristle brush or socket wrench?”
“What?” asked Tim. “What are we even doing out here?”
Jason smiled. “We’re gonna get my bike operational again. Take it apart, clean it, upgrade it if you’re still offering.”
Tim scowled. He knew what Jason was doing— trying to distract him with a project. If he really wanted him to get into a project he might let him get a head start on tracking down Bruce through all of human history instead of making him do manual labor. “I thought you were too poor to pay for upgrades.”
Jason shrugged and flipped an oil rag over one shoulder. “Eh, I’ll figure out something.”
Tim was beginning to think that was Jason’s approach to life.
“C’mon,” Jason wagged the bristle brush at him, smiling. “It might actually be fun.”
Tim descended the stairs and snatched the brush out of his hand. “You need to get out more if you think this is fun.”
Jason chucked a spare rag at him, hitting him square in the chest. “Wow, look who’s talking!”
Tim’s lips twitched into a smile.
He’d feared that hanging out with Jason would only be awkward— both of them too aware of their differences in age and personality. He was afraid that when reduced to casual small talk they’d suddenly realize how little they actually knew about each other. Eight years as “brothers”, coming together in blood feuds, stakeouts, and many dangerous missions and what did they really have to show for it? A couple of family photos, cell numbers saved in each other’s contacts list, and a handful of books shared throughout the years and forgetfully never returned.
But, despite his concerns, their time in the garage started casually enough as they shuffled around performing their own individual tasks. Tim laid down the tarps and placed the bike on its side. Jason stripped down to his undershirt despite the cold of the garage and put on a playlist jam-packed with Joan Jett and Blondie hits.
It was easy.
Before Tim knew it they had the bike broken down, all of its pieces spread on the tarp around them. The engine and some of the other larger pieces were pushed off to the side, a project for another day.
“Hey, Tim?” Jason said as he polished a tail light, “You know those emancipation papers you had Bruce sign.”
Tim looked up sharply from the exhaust pipe he’d been cleaning. “Yeah?”
“Well, I’ve been thinking about something that you said earlier… about how Dick and I were using you to put each other down. You were right. I first took those papers because I remembered how worried you were at the diner, how you just wanted to file them and get your independence back. But when Dick was standing here telling me how shitty a brother I’ve been to you, I’d be lying if I said I did it for selfless reasons alone.”
Jason placed the tail light down on the ground and stared at his dirty hands. Tim just watched him, listening.
“I did want to throw those papers back in his face,” Jason continued. “I wanted to prove to him that I wasn’t the only one who didn’t need this family and their judgment. That I wasn’t the only one who could separate from the pack— that I wasn’t alone.”
“Jason,” Tim started, but already his words failed him, his tongue sitting as heavy as his heart inside his chest. What could he say to such a confession? Was it enough to say I understand? About how Jason had tried and failed so many times to come back into the fold that when he was presented with someone else who also wanted to cut that cord, he couldn’t help but encourage them to pick up the scissors. If only because two black sheep might then be able to make a little family of their own.
Was it selfish to be so lonely? To want someone who didn’t keep a strike count of your past mistakes, who said, I choose you as my family— just as you are. Tim didn’t think so.
“I don’t think you should file those papers, Tim. Because, if you do, you can’t take it back.”
“If I don’t, how am I supposed to live my life the way I want to? With no money and no ability to make my own decisions?”
“It might not be such an either-or situation… Dick and I came to a truce of sorts last night.”
Tim blinked. “What?”
Jason shook his head with a smile. “Yeah, don’t ask. But, I think if you give him time to think things through now that he got a full picture of the situation, he won’t petition the judge to extend the psych hold. As for unfreezing your bank accounts… I have a feeling he’s only going to do that once you’re through the worst of your detox and he’s certain that you won’t blow your money on feeding your high again. And he’s going to want to see that with his own eyes.”
“So, you’re saying, eventually I’m going to have to go see him and talk things out?”
Jason shrugged. “I can’t hide you from him forever, Tim.”
“Yeah, I know.” Tim fiddled with the exhaust pipe he still held in his hands. He wiped at the remaining grime with a few half-hearted sweeps of the oilcloth. “Hey, Jason?”
Jason glanced up at him through his bangs. “Yeah?”
“For all those times I never said it… thank you.”
Jason was quiet for a while with an unreadable expression stretched across his face. Finally, he stood up and offered Tim a hand. “It’s getting late. How about we see what we have for dinner?”
Tim let him pull him up off the floor. He glanced behind him at the garage door as Jason brushed the dust off his pants. “What about Roy?”
Jason put his hand on Tim’s shoulder and gave it a faint squeeze. “Cmon.”
Tim had no idea if Jason didn’t hear his question or purposely ignored it. The time was beginning to creep into the early evening hours and he had a feeling they were both thinking the same thing, even if nobody wanted to admit it— if Roy didn’t come back soon, he probably wouldn’t be coming back at all.
Tim didn’t think he had the courage to ask again, so instead, he trailed Jason back inside to help with dinner.
But, it turned out that Jason didn’t need much help in the kitchen, so Tim settled for keeping him company while he went about his business. He leaned next to the stove and watched as Jason sauteed sweet potatoes, onions, and strips of chicken together in a pan— a meal that smelled good enough to make even Tim’s usually nauseated stomach grumble. It had been a while since Tim had eaten a full meal. And this morning or well... afternoon was no different with both of them too tired and edgy to make up their minds on lunch. So Jason had made them both toast, which they ate standing around the counter staring at Jason’s burner phone, waiting for it to ring.
Jason pointed his spoon off to the right. “Go into the far cabinet and get some plates. This should be ready in a few minutes.”
Tim was lifting down plates when he heard the sound of a door closing. He turned to find Jason with his back to the stove, staring into the living room at Roy’s sudden appearance back in their lives.
Tim clutched the plates closer to his chest. “You’re back. I mean, um, I’m happy you came back.”
“Yeah.” Roy barely seemed to hear him. He was too busy watching Jason watch him, a whole silent, unreadable exchange happening before Tim’s eyes.
“Can we talk?” asked Roy. It clearly wasn’t directed at Tim and Roy’s single-minded disregard of his presence struck him like a slap to the face.
Tim turned and placed the stack of plates on the counter, wishing he had a corner to hide in.
What a fucking idiot he was. In Roy’s mind, they were probably the farthest thing from friends and Tim couldn’t really blame him for thinking that. It was true. They were practically strangers. And after the stunt he pulled last night, Roy could confidently call him a stranger and an asshole.
“Sure,” Jason replied. “Tim, could you watch the food for me?”
Tim half-turned and accepted the wooden spoon out of Jason’s hand, managing a weak smile for his benefit. “Yeah, sure.”
Their footsteps faded out of earshot and then Tim was greeted with the slam of the garage door. He turned and stood alone in Jason’s kitchen, his only companions the sizzle of the skillet and his own troublesome thoughts. Of all the scenarios that Tim had prepared himself for, he’d never considered that Roy might show up again only to break it off officially.
Tim hurled the wooden spoon into the sink and sank heavily against the countertop.
We’re going to lose him and it’s all my fault.
                                                  -   -   -   -
“New project?” Roy asked, toeing at the loose bike parts spread out on the loading dock floor.
Jason watched him as he picked up a piece and examined it. He leaned back against the workbench and crossed his arms tightly, afraid that if left to their own devices one of his hands would pick up a nearby wrench and chuck it at Roy’s stupid, thoughtless head.
“So, you don’t answer your phone anymore, is that it?”
“I was at Blackgate talking to Croc.” said Roy. “You know I can’t bring it into the visitors center with me.”
“And what were you doing for the rest of the day? You had lunch in my safehouse in Old Gotham—at least that hour I can account for since you triggered my security system when you broke in. What about the other ten hours of the day?”
“NA,” Roy replied. “Not that it’s any of your business.”
Jason laughed. “Wow! So you must have hit every NA meeting from Blackgate to Grant Park in that time.”
He clapped slowly so Roy had time to realize what a load of bullshit it was to pull his ‘Narcotics Anonymous is anonymous for a reason’ card right now.
Roy glared at him. “Just get to your point, Jason. I know you have one.”
Yeah, why beat around the bush? “Tim was trying to reach you all day today. He wanted to apologize for last night.”
Roy flicked a tangle of copper hair out of his eyes. “Good. He should apologize for how he acted. He nearly got us all killed.”
Unbelievable, thought Jason. What a goddamn hypocrite. Didn’t he remember all those nights they stayed in shitty apartments in God-knows-where, because he’d blown half their money and left them stranded? Didn’t he remember how Jason always came and pulled him back from the edge — how he stayed up with him as he shivered and puked himself through another withdrawal?
“You want to know what all this was for?” Jason gestured at the array of bike parts on the ground. “It’s because I didn’t know how to stand in that kitchen a moment longer reassuring him that it was all going to be okay when I wasn’t even sure myself.”
Jason shrugged and tilted his head in an attempt to catch Roy’s averted gaze— trying in vain to see past all the angry bullshit between them and find the friend he knew was still in there. “Did you even come back here to help?”
Roy kept his eyes on anything but Jason. “I came to talk to you.”
So, that was Roy code for ‘I haven’t decided yet’. Fantastic. “You should have called first.”
“Why?” asked Roy. “What does it matter if we talk here or on the phone?”
Jason stabbed a finger at the wall behind him. “It matters because of him. I made a deal with that kid to help him find Bruce if he starts to get clean— a deal that I can’t hold up without your help. It matters because— just now— when you walked back into our lives, Tim expected you to stay. I get it if you’re angry at me, but don’t you dare take it out on Tim.”
“Well, we wouldn’t want to upset precious Timmy now, would we? Heaven forbid—”
“Stop. ” Jason was in front of Roy in an instant, a lug wrench clutched tightly in his grip. “I know you’re not this much of an asshole to take shots at a kid who just wants your help.”
Roy’s smile was bitter. “There is it. That’s your problem.”
Jason’s breathing was heavy. He could barely make out Roy’s words past the angry thump of blood in his temples. “What?”
“You're always going to choose him over me. Despite all your talk about being the black sheep of the family, you want back in with them so bad. And now you have your chance to prove you deserve it by taking care of Tim.”
Jason tried to put as much conviction as he could muster into his voice as he stared up at Roy’s green eyes. “You’re my family. I chose you as my family— ”
“You chose me as a cheap substitute.”
“This is not a fucking competition!” he snapped, whipping the wrench at the far wall. It struck, taking a chunk out of one of the bricks. Better the bricks than Roy’s head. “You know it isn’t. You know I will always be there for you.”
How long had these thoughts been festering in Roy’s head? Since last night? Longer? They had been together through thick and thin for years. Did Roy really just think it was out of convenience that he stuck around? That he’d just drop him the moment someone else came into his life?
“Really? Because you threw me to the wolves real quick last night when it came down to choosing between me and Tim.”
“I didn’t know that I’d have to choose anybody when I started this!” cried Jason. “We’re supposed to be a fucking team!”
“A team? Jason, a team requires trust. How can I agree to help when I can’t trust you to make decisions that will protect my interests as well as Tim’s?”
“He told you about our deal, right?” Jason turned towards the sound of the voice. “When I agreed to that deal I did it knowing I wasn’t just agreeing to work with him, but with you as well.”
The door at the top of the stairs was ajar, Tim’s frame discernable in the darkening shadows of the unlit hallway.
“Fuck,” Jason sighed, rubbing at his face. “You weren’t supposed to hear that.”
Roy crossed his arms. “Anyone ever tell you it’s rude to spy on private conversations?”
“I don’t think it counts as spying when I can hear you from all the way down the hall. And I think I’ve heard enough to know that you two come as a package deal, because when left on your own… you’re both kind of shit.”
“Gee, thanks.” Roy's eyes narrowed. “You’re really nailing this whole apology business.”
“Then, let me finish,” said Tim. “I am sorry for what I put you through last night, but we both know my apology alone isn’t going to fix shit. So, I’m here to tell you that I’m willing to do all I can to get clean. From now on our interests are going to be the same.”
Tim slipped into the room, his eyes still trained on Roy. “NA meetings, the twelve steps, I’ll do whatever you tell me to do as long as it helps me get clean and find Bruce because those are things I need. And while I appreciate someone looking out for me— ”
Now he shifted his gaze to Jason. “I don’t need favoritism, nor do I want it. If this is going to work, I can’t have you feeling like you need to choose between us. You just need to choose ‘us’. Okay?”
Jason rubbed at the back of his neck, the skin under his fingers hot with embarrassment and nodded. Looked like some of Tim’s old spunk was coming back after all.
Satisfied, Tim shifted back to Roy. “In case I haven’t made it totally clear yet. I’m not trying to replace you. I’m trying to work with you.”
Roy sighed and carded his hands through his hair. “It’s moments like this that really make me want a drink.”
It was unclear if Roy was talking to them or to himself.
“Would you settle for dinner?” Tim asked. “I set out a plate for you.”
Roy shoved his hands deep in the pockets of his jeans. “You really want me to stay, don’t you?”
Tim didn’t even blink. “Yes. You're my sponsor.”
Roy glanced over at Jason and back to Tim. Jason held his breath afraid he was going to jinx everything if he so much as breathed wrong.
“Alright.” Roy sidestepped Tim and climbed the stairs.
Jason’s eyebrows shot up. “Holy fuck, does that mean the dream team’s back together?”
“Don’t call us the dream team,” Roy called out from inside. “There isn’t an earth in all of the multi-verse were we’re somebody’s fucking dream team.”
Jason hooked Tim around the neck as he followed him up the stairs. He ruffled his hair playfully. “Good job, kid.”

sentence thing: harley/pamela, they are assigned as college dorm-mates and meet at a 'freshman/first year' week thing. :)
sorry this took ages. i wrote most of it months ago, got stuck on one part, lost half of it when my laptop died, and finally rewrote and finished it now. hope you like it and again, sorry for the wait  though hopefully the fact that it’s far more than 3 sentences makes up for it
also warning for underage drinking
planting the seedlings for the rest of our lives
Her roommate arrives in a cacophony of sound, suitcase banging along, just as Pamela places the orchid, her last plant and a rare one at that, alongside the other plants at her window. Pamela ignores her roommate as she shifts the pot over a few inches and scrutinizes it. There, perfect. It’ll have just the right amount of sunlight to flourish. She finally turns to her roommate who’s already dropped her stuff in a pile on her side of the room and is now staring at Pamela and Pamela’s collection of plants.
Harleen Quinzel, the email had said. Her light hair’s pulled into twin pigtails with streaks of cotton candy blue and pink darting through it. Her shirt reads Bad Reputation with Joan Jett’s eyes below that and she’s chewing gum like it’s the final piece of her ensemble. Pamela approves of the shirt but isn’t sure what to make of her yet.
“I like your plants.” The roommate states with no preamble, nodding over at the collection on the window sill. Pamela glows at the compliment. “I can’t do anything with plants, I always end up killing them, but I have two dogs. Though I couldn’t bring them here.” Her face pulls into a pout and it’s very clear that if there had been a way, even if it had involved illegal smuggling, Harleen would have brought the animals here. Pamela’s rather glad she didn’t; she loves plants but she’s never been too certain about what to do with animals. “Anyway you must be Pamela. I’m Harleen, but nobody calls me that. It’s just Harley, like the motorcycle.”
“Nice to meet you, Harley.” And it is. Anyone who says something nice about plants is alright in Pamela’s book, at least until they turn around and betray that. Which, granted, is not very hard to do, people call her judgmental and she calls it having standards, but Harley seems okay right now.
Harley grins and it’s a lot like looking at the sun, her face just lights up that much, and it blindsides Pamela. “Ditto.”
There’s a big, long speech by the chancellor of the university about the virtues of the school, the fortune in their education, the opportunities college provides and this college in particular. Pamela comes for the promised free food at the end of the event and plans to space out for the rest of it.
Harley leans over and whispers in Pamela’s ear, breath warm against her skin. “They can stop with the high-and-mighty spiel. We already paid tuition.”
“It’s just to inflate egos.” Pamela replies and then smirks. “Theirs and ours. We need to know how lucky we are to be here.”
Harley smirks back. “So lucky that we should send them all our money after we graduate out of gratitude?”
“Exactly.” Pamela nods. “Even though we’ve already indebted ourselves taking out loans to pay them in the first place.”
“Speak for yourself. I stole from them to pay for my tuition.”
It’s the way Harley says it, one hundred percent serious so Pamela doesn’t know for a moment whether she’s joking or actually a hardened criminal, that makes Pamela laugh. A couple heads turn their direction. Pamela glares - what? you never laughed before - until they turn back around.
“They’ve literally got a club for everything.” Harley remarks after about a minute of walking through the fair and passing such exciting stands as Costco Club, Rock-Paper-Scissors Club, and Squirrel Fishing Club (the last of which Harley promptly signs them up for). She pauses at an especially colorful stand handing out free red noses. “Hmm, clown club, reminds me of my ex.”
“You dated a clown?” Pamela is less than impressed with this information. She has never liked clowns.
“Part-time clown, part-time edgelord.” Harley nods. She goes quiet for a moment, long enough for Pamela to wonder if she genuinely misses him, and then adds in a quieter voice, “He was an asshat.”
“Sorry to hear about that.” She isn’t.
Harley shrugs. “I’m over it.”
Her tone makes it seem like maybe she isn’t entirely over it yet. Pamela isn’t sure if she should say something comforting, make a jab about how she’s better off without him anyway, or offer a distraction. She’s never really dealt with the break-ups of other people before… or her own really. She’s always the one who dumps people and she never cares afterwards.
Then Harley’s eyes widen and she grabs Pamela’s arm tightly. “Look! The dance club is giving free dance lessons this week! We have to go.” She turns to Pamela with a pout, ready to fight her way to acquiescence, but Pamela is already laughing and nodding her head in agreement.
“We’ll go.”
They go to the dance class and learn how to salsa. Surprisingly both of them are pretty good at it. Harley says it’s because she used to be a gymnast; Pamela has no similar excuse, just a natural rhythm and grace. After they head to a party to show off their new moves.
They dance for hours, with each other and with another girl they met back at their dorm - Selina, who put up cat photos in her room, Pamela’s pretty certain she heard a mewing from under the bed too - and with whoever happens to pass by because it’s the sort of party where everyone is just moving and having a good time. There’s chips and beer and punch. Hours later, Harley is stumbling around, her dance movements having lost the gymnast grace she’d bragged about earlier.
“How many drinks have you had?”
Harley puts up two fingers, thinks about it, and guiltily raises a third. Pamela sighs and places an arm around her shoulders. (She isn’t sure when she got so… touchy. Usually she prefers to avoid physical contact but there’s something about Harley that makes it okay). “Let’s get you home.”
The cool air is a relief after the heat and sweat of the party. For a moment, Pamela closes her eyes and simply breathes in the fresh air before turning them both home. Harley talks the whole way. Mostly she doesn’t seem to expect a response, so Pamela lets her ramble. Harley talks about the beauty of the stars (there aren’t very many visible but Harley insists each one is beautiful) and the party (”it was fun, really fun, wasn’t it?”) and how utterly ridiculous human minds are (turns out she’s a psychology major) and her garbage ex (”promise not to let me call him”; Pamela promises).
At one point, Harley has to stop to throw up in a trash can. Pamela holds her pigtails and rubs her back through the process.
“You had the same number of drinks as me.” Harley speaks slowly with a furrowed look of concentration on her face. The focus seems to be working, she’s slurring less at least. “How come you’re not so wobbly?”
“I have a high tolerance for all kinds of poison. Alcohol included.” Pamela says, a hint of pride in her voice.
“Hmph.” And then she’s back to talking about the human mind and the way it absolutely fails at self-preservation sometimes.
They arrive at the dorm. Pamela tiptoes them past the RA’s room, no use upsetting Diana over a little drunkenness, and successfully gets them back inside their room. She sits Harley down on the bed and gets her a glass of water.
“Tonight was fun, yeah?”
Pamela considers it and yes, apart from Harley throwing up, it was a good night.
“Let’s have a toast.” Pamela raises an eyebrow at Harley because more alcohol is the last thing she needs in her body and Harley shakes her head. “I meant with water.”
“Okay.” So Pamela pours them each a cup and then flops back on the bed by Harley. Harley raises her cup.
“Here’s to many more nights like this one!”
“To a good college experience!”
At the graduation ceremony, Isley, Pamela is seated far from Quinzel, Harley, which is a damn shame because speeches are always better when you’re throwing sarcastic jabs back and forth about the proceedings. Pamela spends most of her time shifting in the heat and searching out Harley in the crowd to meet her eyes with an eyeroll at the stage. Finally the speeches are done and the students file up to receive their diplomas.
Once Pamela takes the proffered scroll (it states that the real diploma will be in the mail in a few weeks because of course that’s how it works) and takes a photograph with a professor, she slips out of line and waits at the side of the stage. Some people cast her curious looks as they pass, but most of them are occupied with the grandeur of the moment. For the people who aren’t heading on to more education, the people who aren’t Harley or Pamela who both need grad school to go anywhere in their fields, this is it. The end of the line. Good-bye schooling, hello working world. And even though Pamela’s education is continuing next fall and she’s never put much stock in ceremonies, she feels that same thrill of excitement about the end of college.
Finally, “Harleen Quinzel,” rings out and Harley is grinning as she accepts her fancy piece of paper and then she’s coming down the stairs. Pamela can tell the exact moment Harley spots her by the way her eyes light up and her grin, impossible as it may seem, widens.
“Ivy, you waited!”
“I always do.”
Harley steps down and Pamela steps forward, so they meet in the middle for a kiss, sloppy with the euphoria of the moment.
“We made it.”
“I never doubted it.”
After there’s a reception for the graduating seniors and their families. Harley comes to Pamela with two glasses of water.
“Let’s toast.”
“We’ll need a new phrase now that we’re out of college.” Pamela reminds Harley before she can launch into the usual spiel.
