Here’s my first batch of designs for my jjba DnD au! First up is the Crusaders! If I have the motivation, I might try and do some other parts too.

More info:

Joseph: Artificer, Yuan-ti Abomination ;builds mostly flying things

Jotaro: Druid, Fairy; uses the enlarge spell on himself whenever he can (doesn’t like being small)

Kakyoin: Idk yet, Tiefling (I have not developed anything about him ;-;)

Avdol: Sorcerer, Aarakocra; uses mostly fire based spells

Polnareff: Fighter, Centaur (also not much development for him)

So there’s 2 ways this au works in my head:

1: this is just a plain DnD au that roughly follows the plot of part 3, just with DnD aspects

2: the crusaders get transported to a DnD world because of a stand ability (an oc I’ve been working on that I may or may not expand on later)

Behold, the many versions of Pursuit! Her horns & tail changing are based loosely on PointHat’s YouTube video on tieflings. They grow to match the values & beliefs instilled in her. Broken horns indicate that her values/beliefs have been shattered.

Summaries of the AUs are below the cut!

Canon: Pursuit as she currently is in our DnD campaign.

Star Wars: Pursuit is one of a couple other force-sensitive kids (other party members) being hunted by the empire. Her parents hid her to avoid her getting drafted into the Jedi Order, but she was found anyway. We also just like drawing her in the pilot uniform. Set in the Star Wars universe.

Bad Apples: High School AU in which our three youngest party members (Pursuit, Hikari, & Woe) are behavior students and the rest of the party + NPCs are staff. Set in our canon campaign’s world.

Family AU: Pursuit is found and raised by the celestial of strength & violence, Michael. Canonically, they hate each other, but in this AU, having met far earlier and under vastly different circumstances, they develop a, “Don’t talk to me or my daughter ever again,” dynamic. Set in our canon campaign’s world.

Spiderverse: Family Au, but if it was Spider-Man. Michael is the Prowler, but is killed in a fight with Spider-Man, and Pursuit witnesses this, taking up the mantle of Prowler in his stead.

JJBA: Part 3.5, The Pursuit of Happiness (we’re so funny). Set in a post-part-three, Everyone Lives AU because we’re stubborn. On their flight back to Japan after defeating Dio, the Crusaders crash — as per Joseph’s curse — and they find Pursuit laying face down in the desert. Shenanigans ensue as they find out she’s a stand user and get roped into her problems, facing a new set of stand users (our party + NPCs) sent to retrieve her by whatever means necessary.

Here’s a quick and dirty drawing of my oc Lucifer, from his DnD AU (arguably his least hinged appearance). Lucifer is The Mirror because he was made specifically as a semi-evil reflection of my original JJBA OC, Hisato, my sweet boy Hisato <3 In this AU, Lucifer is the sole contract managed by his patron, and therefore has a MUCH more concentrated and direct relationship with him. This includes occasionally being possessed but it’s Fine, Don’t Worry About It :)

I feel like I need to know everything about Avery now.

Oh boy... Okay! You asked. You also said "everything".... Lucky for you I don't want to sprain my wrist again typing for seven hours. SO.

Quick rundown. Avery Erin Tallstag (she/they)- they also go by Avery Erinyes in our DnD campaign. She is my PC in said campaign, and also for sure the best thing I've ever made. My wife and I are in the process of maybe-kind-of-sorta hashing out a concrete story for her and her love interest, Kris (my other blorbo who you may see me mention here on this blog) that I would frankly LOVE to actually write someday, but I'm not sure if I have the time, energy, or willpower to actually write a book.

Avery is a teifling, about 27 years old. Her class in DnD is a rouge assassin, and she more than lives up to that as the Red Dahlia, lead assassin in her gang, Alun (also known as the Wall Skeletons). Alun is one of several gangs in Fairgold, largest city on the continent of Ikaria and shining jewel of the nation of Avalon (and Zarrashkah, the city is so big it stretches across two nations), and Avery sits on the Gang Council along with her Don and two other top dogs in her gang. In our campaign, she took a short stint of work for neighboring kingdom Aretea, which is what landed her with the party and into the whole mess we've been playing out over the last... Year? Two years? In addition to her gang work, Avery is a dancer and sex worker at renowned club Ace and Spades.

Personality-wise, I recently described Aves in a chat as "an alcoholic stuffed to the brim with rum, cum, and maladaptive coping mechanisms", and I think that is just about the perfect descriptor. While she's changed a lot over the course of the campaign, and the version I've developing for our hypothetical book is a bit more tempered and even (and knows what a loving family is supposed to look like, wow, imagine that!), the original Avery that our party met was loud, crass, outgoing, and just open enough about most things that people didn't bother to wonder what she wasn't walking about. I won't go into detail about her backstory, but know that in involves a vengeance quest against her mother that has since been completed in-campaign... And THAT will have lasting consequences going forward.

I also want to talk a little bit about how Aves came to be, because she didn't start as a DnD character or my #1. She started as a side-character in a JJBA fanfic that will never see the light of day, and then fell prey to my need to have an OC to ship with every tall goth in Part 5. Of course, the more I wrote her and got to know her, the more I loved her, and when I had the chance to take her off the page and onto a character sheet, I jumped at it.

So, yeah! That's Aves. I have about 7 bajillion AUs for her that my wife and I have come up with for her and Kris. Their ship name is KrAve or KrAvery and I'm fucking OBSESSED WITH THEM.

FIXATION REPORT:

Y'ALL... I'm so so SO sorry for those who followed me for Home is Where the Heart Is. It's not going anywhere, but I did an UH-OH and uhhh may have started another fic that... I've literally been powering through and I'm currently really motivated to write. So Home is Where the Heart Is is most likely gonna be sitting on the back burner for a bit... as for the new fic... if you like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure YOU'RE IN LUCK! it's a fantasy AU loosely based off of DnD and fantasy RPGs I've played, with characters from jjba part 3. It's a Jotaro x reader, where jotaro is a dragon and reader is an 18 year old runaway. If you want to know more, you'll just have to wait for now!

That also reminds me I should probably look into making a masterlist soon or make a side blog specifically for my works??? I dont even know right now... oh well!

I have all these ideas in my head for a Dnd Jojo AU and I have to get it out of my system so here’s part 1 of a series of who knows how many

The crusaders are all player and Dio is their shitty DM who made himself the villain. Also yes, they made a character for Iggy because Avdol wouldn’t play if his dog couldn’t play. Jotaro is Joseph’s grandkid who got embarked against his will in the game along with his bf Kakyoin.

how it all started…

melone is the first one to ask, as he spots the player handbook on your desk. it was hidden under some paper — plus he’s not even allowed in your room! thank him for being nosy. 

he hasn’t played since he was a kid, he says, and begs you to set up a campaign. it took very little to convince you, things were kinda dragging on at la squadra headquarters.

you sigh dramatically. “alright, fine, just get me a party.”

the first one melone approaches is pesci! he is very interested in d&d but never had the opportunity to play so he is all in. 

somehow illuso and ghiaccio got roped into playing. you have no idea how melone got them, but they are welcome nonetheless.

this is the one time ghiaccio actually shuts up and listens, value the time.

formaggio walks in during the session zero (where you are explaining the mechanics of the game) and asks what’s up. gets interested and joins.

prosciutto just happens to be sitting in his arm chair when the first session starts. he listens to your story telling and is quite impressed. he’s a fan of the descriptions of the scenery and setting, so he happens to be in the living room for some of your game sessions.

on one of your session nights, things get a little rowdy. enough for risotto to hear halfway across hq.

risotto exits his office, expecting to break up another fight…

(“no, no, NO! THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN DO THAT!” ghiaccio screeches.)

…only to walk into the main room where six of his subordinates huddled on the floor around the coffee table. miniature figurines set up in the center, along with sheets of paper and colored die. they don’t seem to realize his presence yet.

“i’ll allow it.” you say, hiding your smug smile from behind a large red screen. “melone, roll.” the ruling makes ghiaccio put his head in his hands.

melone picks up a white and red twenty sided die and rolls. there’s a collective holding of breath until it clatters to a halt.

formaggio leans over melone’s shoulder and starts cackling. “it’s a nat 20!”

“i get up on that crate and face the goblins.” melone begins to go off in some whimsical, rousing speech about rising above tyranny and the value of their own life.

“your speech inspires the whole group and they unanimously agree to follow you.” you notice the capo and nod to him. “oh, hey.” 

the group turns to the leader with emotions ranging from surprise to embarrassment.

his silence and the slightest quirk of a brow conveys the question “what are you doing?”

“we’re, uh, playing dungeons and dragons.” pesci says. “melone just convinced the goblins to turn against the head goblin.”

risotto nods slowly — not unlike a father trying his best to get a grip of the interests of his children — and turns around.

(of course, nero’s no stranger to third edition… but he won’t say anything.)
