A closer look at the costumes of Luca Guadagnino’s QUEER, based on the novel by William S. Burroughs.

Jonathan Anderson, the film's costume designer & LOEWE creative director, began with three key ideas. Firstly, pieces had to be sourced from the period, which kick-started an exploration in sentimental value, authenticity & upcycling. Secondly, the way in which clothes age & decay would be imperative to the identities of the characters. And finally, their wardrobes should be able to be packed into a suitcase–a realist reflection of the characters’ fleeting permanence.
