Reasons To Consider RV Park Amenities
Tumblr media
Having "all the comforts of home" on the road, including a refrigerator, restroom, and comfortable beds, is one of the many advantages of an RV. However, it's always a fantastic perk to stay at an RV park with RV park amenities. A "home away from home" will make your life much more pleasant when you stop at a long-term RV campground like Shadow Hills RV Resort.
Camping Amenities Matter When You Want to Stay Connected:
To stay in touch with friends and family back home, finding an RV resort with free Wi-Fi and an internet connection is a great resource. There are several dead zones and places where your cell phone will receive spotty or no service as you drive along the roadways. Additionally, you might not want to use up your data plan and batteries while driving. Dropped calls, no internet, and low batteries shouldn't be an issue until you arrive at an RV resort or campsite with amenities. You can connect to the internet, tell your loved ones how much fun you are having, and then get back to your RV camping vacation.
The Right RV Park Amenities Make It Easy for Guests to Catch Up on Daily Chores:
You probably have some dirty laundry if you've been traveling for a week or more. Laundry facilities will be accessible at an extended-stay RV park so that visitors may wash and dry their clothes. There should be BBQ grills available to cook the food you have put in the refrigerator, as well as clean showers and facilities.
Be it ADA compliance book or camping near Joshua Tree National Park, consider Shadow Hills RV Resort.
Relax in Style with the Right Amenities:
Even though your RV trip has certainly been incredibly restful, a nice RV resort includes additional relaxing attractions. Your family can soak in a hot tub or take a dip in a pool to soothe any sore muscles. Most RV parks offer cable TV hookups so you can relax and catch up on your favorite shows. You may typically find fishing ponds or walking pathways for the family to enjoy when you want to reconnect with nature but are not ready to leave the RV resort. Our first-rate RV park amenities allow you to unwind and unwind at Shadow Hills RV Resort. Swim in our heated pool and Jacuzzi, explore our ponds and walking trails, work out in our fitness center, care for your pets at our pet stations, socialize in our clubhouse and games room, read and unwind in our library and business center, or pass the time in our TV and card room.

On the 18th of October, 1984, the Bradbury family went on a camping trip to Indian Cove Campground in Joshua Tree National Park, California. 3-year-old Laura Bradbury accompanied her 8-year-old brother to the portable restrooms near the campsite. As he used the facilities, Laura waited outside. When he returned, Laura had vanished.
Within a day of her disappearance, hundreds of volunteers with horses, dogs and helicopters spread out across the area, scouring the ravines and woodland. A bloodhound followed what was believed the be footprints from Laura’s flip flops for around 2 miles before losing the scent.
Three days later, the wide-scale search was called off and investigators shifted to focus on the possibility that Laura had been abducted. That afternoon, a number of people spotted a man in his 50s with a metallic-blue van at Indian Cove. He was seen shortly before Laura disappeared and then a similar man was spotted in the Burns Canyon hours later. He was described as having a beard and a pot belly. Despite exhaustive attempts to identity him, he has never been identified or come forward.
The case went cold until 1986 when hikers found a skull near the west entrance to the park. It was approximately five miles over rugged terrain from where the Bradbury family had been camping that afternoon. Initial DNA testing suggested that the skull belonged to Laura. However, her family weren’t convinced. Then in 2010, an advancement in DNA technology confirmed that the remains were Laura. In a cruel twist of fate, a man named Jim Nestor had vanished while searching for Laura years earlier. His skull was found in 1988 but a cause of death could not be determined.
The deaths of Laura Bradbury and Jim Nestor still remain a mystery and it’s unknown if the two cases are somehow linked.

What kind of vacations do Buck and Eddie like to go on? Do they prefer the beach, mountains, or places where it snows? Also one more in terms of older established Buddie. Do they retire in LA or do they live and travel in a RV?
I think they do a lot of road trips!!!! Buck always drives. as a Californian I am biased but there are SO many beautiful and fun places to visit in California so yeah i think they do a bunch of road trips, including camping trips to Big Sur and Yosemite and Joshua Tree, go river rafting in the American River, a trip up to San Francisco (they let Chris hang out and get room service by himself in the hotel for one night to go to some gay bars), San Diego to go to the zoo, and they definitely find a great adaptive snowboarding place in Big Bear or Mammoth or Tahoe for Chris to try out (Eddie also has never skiied in his LIFE so he and Chris are just going down the bunny hill together while Buck cheers them on). They probably do venture out of California to do some of the national parks in Utah/the Grand Canyon/etc and they absolutely do at least one trip to Vegas just the two of them (Buck does NOT win it big at poker but Eddie loves him anyway).
I also picture them doing a big road trip up the coast of California for their honeymoon but again I'm biased because that's what my parents did for their honeymoon 🥰 They stay at the Madonna Inn and crack up at the over-the-top kitschiness, and they stay at a cute little B&B in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
And they definitely do many trips out to Texas to see the Diaz family, like at least twice a year.
For retired Buddie, I think they retire in LA but they travel pretty frequently and finally hit some of the international trips on their bucket lists (Buck for sure takes Eddie to Peru and shows him all the places he used to hang out when he lived there).

1,254 miles. LA —> Phoenix —> Bisbee —> Tombstone —> Benson —> Saguaro National Park —> Benson —> Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum —> Blythe —> LA. Doorstep to doorstep that’s the total number of miles I drove across the southwestern desert last week for my birthday.
Saguaro has been on my list for a couple of years and I figured I should go check it out while the weather was nice and take a birthday trip to boot. Seeing the cacti up close and learning about them was an experience. It’s not quite as magical as Joshua Tree, but there’s something very beautiful and peaceful about the desert when you’re surrounded by such ancient sentinels. The largest saguaros are between 150-200 years old and they’re more impressive when you’re standing amongst them. I hiked about 3 miles through the park and did some birdwatching when I could. The Merlin app was especially helpful in identifying birds I’ve never seen before! The weather was perfect and I think I got a few good shots with my new Fuji + the 35mm Kodak (we’ll see!).
Tombstone was a bit of a bust. I’ve wanted to visit since Kurt Russell came storming down the thoroughfare with guns blazing. It was cool to see some of the buildings and roads the Earps and Doc Holliday walked down, but it’s really all cheap tchotchkes. Bummer. Bisbee was cool though! Really artsy and progressive. Seems like a fun city if you’re an artist or musician. Had some great shrimp tacos at Taqueria Outlaw. The Desert Museum was amazing. Kind of a combination of Descanso Gardens and The Living Desert. Loved it. They have an ocelot!
All in all, a lovely trip, even though I was doing a lot more running around than relaxing. I gotta learn how to relax and take in the sights of where I am on these camping trips. Arizona is such a beautiful state too. I’m glad it hasn’t been turned into a broken-brained right-wing nightmare like places such as Alabama or Idaho because there are more sane people in the state than the alternative. Really hope it stays that way, I don’t want to lose one of my favorite places to visit!

The Desert Liger Zero Panzer, Tankette!
For one of my most frustrating Zoids to paint and all the unexpected issues, I think she is one of my best in terms of final results. It was so much fun to take this kit to the desert for a photoshoot, definitely my favorite subject of this camping trip's Zoids haha!

Your timeline of V&D was great! What is V&J's?
Well, the best we know they met in Feb 2012 during NYC Fashion Week. 📸
Tumblr media
She was 17 and he was... not. 🙃
No idea if they developed "a friendship" right away or if this was just an eager fangirly pic sesh thing, but the next proof of them "hanging out" came in Sept 2013, again at a fashion event in NYC when he showed her cat videos on Youtube or some such surely innocent shit. 🧐📱
Tumblr media
After that, the next sightings came in the spring of 2014 when things REALLY kicked off and during that spring and summer she started spending time with him in LA and he lugged her with him to San Fran and on tour across Europe and the Med vacay and also the US during the Carnivores tour.
Tumblr media
They kept it going hot and heavy/on and off (even tho he had some side quests too... 🙄) throughout 2015...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... as well as 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. 👫
They spent one Christmas together up in Seattle...
Tumblr media
... and she had a really exciting time at Camp Mars. 😛
Tumblr media
Then came June 2019 when they were snapped looking über-domesticated in LA...
Tumblr media
... but right after this something went horribly wrong and they broke up. 💔
VK escaped LA and spent that entire summer with Mads & co in NYC and the Med, and suddenly decided she needs a dog in her life and thus Cosma happened! 🐶
Not at all a bandaid for her broken heart or anything... 🙃🩹
But there was light at the end of the tunnel tho because in December 2019 VK and her son moved to LA, and bing bang boom along came New Years and suddenly the lovebirds were sneaking off to Kauai! 🏖
Tumblr media
And then came the Joshua Tree couples retreat with Stevie and the missus, Reedy and the missus, and spinsters GFlo and Eiza, and suddenly VK wasn't a dirty little secret anymore! 🤷🏼‍♀️
Tumblr media
Suddenly she was allowed to pose in photos with the whole group AND get tagged in photos too which had never happened before! 🤷🏼‍♀️
If you ask me, the reason why JL was able to get her back is by promising to make some easements to his hysterical rules about showing and linking her into his life... 🫠
And then just weeks after that Covid came crashing down on us, and VK moved into Casa Craphole (but for some reason Cosma wasn't as lucky... 🤔) and they kept vacaying in Malibu and national parks and all sorts of places during the summer/fall of 2020.
In the spring of 2021 JL left for Italy to film HoG, and that sadly marked the beginning of the end... 😟
VK stayed in Nevada (ODDLY WITH COSMA THIS TIME! 🤔) and when JL returned from Italy in April he flew straight to NYC and VK followed a couple of days later, and I guess this is when shit really hit the fan and they ended up calling it quits for good. 💔🤷🏼‍♀️

Smithsonian Magazine
In April 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt spent two weeks vacationing at Yellowstone Park, after which he designated the area as America’s first national park, laying a cornerstone at its main entrance. “Nowhere else in any civilized country is there to be found such a tract of veritable wonderland made accessible to all visitors,” he said during his remarks. “This park was created, and is now administered, for the benefit and enjoyment of the people.”
Today, some 120 years later, the National Park Service (NPS), established in 1916, manages more than 400 sites, including about 60 that are designated as national parks. Most are free to enter, allowing the millions who visit each year to enjoy hiking, biking, camping, climbing and exploring these protected lands. Spanning the nation—from California’s Joshua Tree to Shenandoah in Virginia, from Glacier Bay in Alaska to the National Park of American Samoa in the South Pacific—NPS has helped preserve thousands of acres from sea to shining sea and worked to protect the many species of wildlife that call the parks home.
