If i have a nickel for everytime a part of a character's body become alive and sentient, i'd have two nickels.

We see a lot of different things happening with Legacy but there's always (I'm assuming) a human reader
So what would Legacy do if their partner wasn't human?
Like if they were a yokai from inazuma travelling to Liyue. Horns, ears, tail, the whole bit!
let's do a kitsune because our beloved Foul Legacy is already a bit foxlike :D
a shrine keeper who's fond of shirking your duties, it's little wonder that you spend most of your time wandering around in the wilderness. besides, you're a fox! you're used to it! perhaps even more than the Miko herself, since you end up sleeping comfortably in trees most nights, tails draped over yourself and one leg dangling from the branches. there's no need to hide your features- Miko says you should be proud of them, and you are, even if she teases you for only having two tails while she has five. but it's these two tails that first guide Foul Legacy to you, accidentally smacking his face when you were lounging in the flowers of a sakura tree, far away from any houses or humans. he sneezes in surprise, head snapping up as you roll over, then blink, staring at him.
you wave. he waves. smiles bloom on both of your faces
you become even BETTER at avoiding your responsibilities after you meet Legacy, much to the other shrine maidens' dismay. he knows all the best hiding spots, having to constantly stay out of sight from fear of being hunted and slaughtered just for existing, and he absolutely adores your tiny fox form, chittering in delight and cradling you gently in his claws as he carefully strokes your soft ears and back. no longer will your sneaky escapades be performed alone, nor will Legacy wander the upside of Teyvat as a single monster by himself. you're his, and he's yours now, and neither kitsune nor Abyssal beasts abandon those they call their own, even if you have to hide him away from the mortals and Shogun
Miko smiles behind a hand, watching you from the corner of her eye, and turns away without a word. her lips are sealed with the sight of her junior's happiness

Hi!! I have two questions about your rottmnt fairy au, and I don’t really know if these have been answered yet or if you even have the answer to the second one, (which is totally fine btw! ^^). The questions may be a bit dumb but still. Curiosity got the best of me.
1. A question about Donnie’s damaged wing, I would assume it’d be quite fragile due to the damage it already has, so I do wonder if it could get worse. Like how a normal fairy’s wings have the possibility of ripping. I wonder if maybe Donnie’s wing had gotten slightly worse (like- idk a small rip or chunk coming of off it) before he had made his brace?
2. How does the whole apocalyps timeline work (if you had even planned something like that in your au). Because I had noticed you saying that yokai are fairies, and humans like april are just that, human. Does that mean Casey junior is also a human? Because the only thing I imagine is just little fairy leo teaching a full on human how to fight. (-_-;)
Btw I really really like your au! I used to watch the tinkerbell films over and over again (I have probably watched every one at least ten times-) and to see my current hyper fixation be mixed with something I really liked as a kid fills me with excitement! (Sorry if the questions may be a bit confusing I’m not good at this)
hi hi hi! your questions aren't dumb at all :D as far as I'm concerned, there's no such thing as a stupid question, y'know? I love getting to answer them ^^
Yes, Donnie's wings (particularly the damaged one) are very susceptible to further damage. Part of the reason is the fact that his wings are always on the outside of his shell (due to him being a softshell), and thus, he doesn't have the ability to hide them away for protection like Leo and Mikey (and partially Raph, although Raph's shell works a little differently, with his shell spikes folding down to act as a defense). That's why Donnie's wing brace includes that gold shell over his wings! Extra protection :) You're correct about them possibly being damaged before he was able to build the brace though-- I can definitely imagine the holes/tears in his wing getting stuck on branches and being pulled if he's not careful. There's also the fact that fairy wings don't feel pain-- referenced by Raini being able to painlessly cut off her wings in order to swim underwater in the Pixie Hollow books-- so Donnie would have trouble noticing if his wing was caught on something and tearing.
I don't really have an apocalypse timeline planned out so far. I do have ideas for fitting in the Kraang (which,,, idk if i'll ever actually make it to that plot point BUT WE'LL SEE LOL), but there's likely not going to be a future arc or anything. That being said, I DO have ideas for both Casey and CJ that involve them not being humans OR fairies... :))))
I'm glad you're enjoying it!!!! This is ALSO me combining hyperfixations lol, I'm happy someone else feels the same way!!! 💜🧡

Kakuranger: Act Three - Middle-Aged Struggles -Review-
We start with our new Announcer, Hakuzan Kanda (Enjoh Sauteing sadly passed in ‘21) introducing a new form of wickedness inflicted upon society in the modern era: Social Media.

Ya know what, that’s actually pretty good. You immediately know where this is gonna go with young modern Yokai taking advantage of the human youth through the internet. This did however activate my fight or flight response thinking “Oh god, is this just going to be a bunch of jokes about the youth and getting old” Thankfully that’s not the case... for the most part. It’s more so the Kakurangers having to contend with a familiar threat in a new form that’s targeting the current generation, which, man, that’s a little too real, though I’m probably making that sound deeper than it really is. But I’m also getting ahead of myself. Let’s at least get through the opening.
On that note, the opening credits pushes all the Nostalgia buttons. I can’t imagine how this went over for those that grew up in ‘94 watching the original series. But even for someone like me who watched the series decades later, hearing the familiar theme with new visuals interspersed with old clips from the show does it’s job. We’re then given a series of brief goings on with each member and what they’re up. Sasuke is still dressing like it’s ‘94 and living as a nomad, traveling to help friendly yokai who have integrated into society. It’s a small but nice reminder that there are friendly yokai out in the world. It also serves as a segue into rumors of strange Yokai seen about, which along with a call from Tsuruhime indicates that maybe something is afoot that requires their attention. Speaking of, Tsuruhime now runs and orphanage along with Bun (still played by Yasuyuki Takamine no less) Seikai then arrives in what I can only describe as a Spirit Halloween Yakuza outfit.

Seikai now runs an art store which has lead to having quite the disposable income despite a lack of fashion sense. He also has a kid now. Yeah, Seikai has a child, Goro, adopted from Tsuruhime’s orphanage. We then cut over to Saizo, still making crepes out of (a now modern) Nekomarou. The Kakurangers (sans Jiraya, who is in L.A.) and Goro, gather by Nekomarou for the first time in a long while. We get some gags about aging; bad eyesight, being out of shape, etc. Also Saizo’s luck is still bad, seeing as his business isn’t too hot right now. Goro suggests he should try social media rather than flyers. In any case, the reason for their gathering appears slightly more innocuous. Goro’s birthday is coming up and Tsuruhime wanted to gather for a celebration-- although there’s another more prescient matter not stated publicly, which is that a birthmark on Goro is growing larger and more distinctly skull shaped, looking a lot like Junior.
The next day, Goro and Saizo are attacked by a Yokai, Sunou/Yuki-Onna, hoping to awaken Goro’s true nature. Saizo is partially frozen, but Goro attacks the yokai with supernaturally dark power, driving her away but also giving what she wanted. In the fall out of these attacks, Goro is enraged, questioning if Seikai and Tsuruhime knew of his heritage before storming off. Though this isolation gives Kamaitachi and Yuki-Onna an opportunity to stoke the fires. Elsewhere, Sasuke and his Yokai friends are set upon by another of the Next Generation Yokai, Weasel/Kamaitachi, only to be saved by Jiraiya who was tracking the Yokai all the way from LA. Jiraya, by the way, is the only Kakuranger who retains their basic ninpo abilities, probably because Kosugi himself clearly never stopped being a martial artist. Dude is JACKED. The Kakurangers convene at Tsuruhime’s home, along with Yoshiteru and two kinda new characters, Saburou and Shirou. I say kinda because it’s just Taro and Jiro’s actors, Suchiya Daisuke and Tsuchiya Keisuke. And yes, they’re said to be brothers to Taro and Jiro. I guess they had to incorporate them somehow. Yoshiteru gives an exposition dump explaining exactly what’s going on. When Noble Junior died he cast a spell you resurrect himself, but it was at the cost of his memories, even forgetting he was a Yokai. When they found out they began keeping tabs on him, but it was years later and by that point he already had a wife and a baby. For all intensive purposed, Junior was living a normal human life. Then one day there was a car accident. Junior survived, but fell into a Coma. His wife died, but Goro was perfectly safe, falling to the care or Tsuruhime and later Seikai. By all means Goro’s Yokai abilities should’ve never awakened unless faced with extreme forms of hate, and the internet being what it is plus the confrontation with the Yokai... What’s more, the birthmark on Goro has developed with each birthday, this year would complete the skull.
Given the situation the group doesn’t stand much of a chance against even these two Yokai, let alone the possibility of a new Yokai lord. Their only chance would be to re-acquire the Doron changers, but the would put the door of seals at risk of being opened. Not the mention that fact that transforming could be a danger given their age. Regardless, they don’t have any other option, so Sasuke goes to get the Doron Changers while the rest track down Goro. Which of course ends up at the abandoned warehouse.

This entire scene is pure fanservice. Into Danger Kakuranger starts up, the four confront the Yokai and group of Dorodoros. We even cut over to Sasuke who gets help from Ninjaman to keep the door of seals shut while the Doron Changers are out. Unfortunately, by the time Sasuke arrives with the Doron Changers, Goro has already mutated into his Yokai form Sanmotogorouzaemon.

Why does that sound like an early 90s Mad Magazine gag about complicated names in Japanimation? We then learn the mastermind behind all of this, the Flower Ninja Gabera. For years she’s planned this moment, orchestrating the car accident, watching Goro over the years and biding her time. But the time for chitchat is over, we finally come to the Kakurangers having a final Henge. I will not spoil this moment, but it got the biggest laugh out of me. The rest is just an all out brawl, the Kakurangers going through all their personal weapon-- which I forgot they even had, the Shinobi Knuckle, Saizo does the square cutter technique, and we even get onomatopoeias.

Although probably the funnest thing to happen in the fight is Seikai and Saizo teaming up against Yuki-Onna by using er, words of encouragement.

Also take note of how you can clearly see the stunt helmets with the latches switch to the hero versions in the very next scene. To cap things off, we have a Kakuranger ball finisher used on Gabera.
But the still leaves Goro to deal with. Seikai manages to get through to him, getting his consciousness back. But he’s stuck in his yokai form. And then Noble Junior shows up, having awakened thanks to Goro’s transformation.

In an oddly touching moment, he hugs Goro, absorbing his powers and saying it’s the last time he’ll get a chance to act like a father-- before promptly exploding. Later we see Saizo having great success from Goro’s social media campaign making Nekomaru a hit. Goro is bestowed with being the 25th leader of the Kakuranger by Tsuruhime as we wrap things up. But we still get an ending dance sequence from the entire cast, and even some cameos from the Hurricangers. They even made a new Hanako Yamabuki outfit for Hirose for like a three second appearance. That’s cute. We end with a final shot of the Door of Seals, Doron changers in place, but the seam of the door is glowing red. Time will tell if this is followed up on.

And that’s all of Act 3:Middle-Aged Struggle. Pretty brisk, huh?
I used the term Fanservice earlier and that really is the key word to describe Act 3, both as a positive and detriment. When you break it down, things just kinda happen in this special, and characters just exist. Like, what the hell is up with Gabera? Who made her? They call her a Yokai, and sure, Yokai are just kinda born into existence. But the Kunoichi were cats mutated by a yokai scientist. She’s here because Flowery Kunichi reference and that’s it. Same reason as Taro and Jiro having brothers. We need a story to happen and references. That’s not to say it’s all bad, I clearly had some fun with this and there is a giddiness one gets seeing the team together again, and hearing the old tracks play. The character interactions are fun and I even laughed a few times. Act 3 knows what it is and doesn’t pretend to be anything more. And at 32 minutes it doesn’t overstay its welcome with that Nostalgia blowout. But it is absolutely coasting hard on that aspect and has little else on offer than cute novelty.
Still, there is something to be gleaned from that.
Also, this isn’t a complaint mind you, but there are a lot of pyrotechnics in this special. An unusual amount, even.

They look good, but holy hell they’re prevalent as all get out.

Ah. I should also note that there is something hinky with the MKV file I got. It can play fine, but it really doesn’t like being paused or skipped through. The MP4 version is even worse. However, these issues only happen in VLC. CCCP/MPC had zero problems. So maybe that says more about VLC (which I’ve had a lot of issues with in the past few months with screen tears and hanging up across multiple machines) but it’s something to keep in mind.

This was a pretty short review, but hey it meant fast turn around. Next time though I’ll take at something more substantial, about 7x larger with a review of the third and final 90s Rider Movie Kamen Rider J, plus a review of the Media Blasters boxset. Oh boy, I have some things to say about that.

How to be a decent parent: A guide by Hamato Yoshi
Chapter 3: You need a babysitter as a single parent (so try to get one for free) Previous | Next
“I’ve been meaning to ask, el rato,” Hueso says, leaning on a counter as I start my shift. I hum questioningly from my position kneeling on the floor. “Why do you always put your child in the cupboard?” Me and Donnie both blink up at him, the boy even looking up from whatever he’s been doing to his crinkly toy. I smile at him:
“Yeah, we’re talking about you.” I poke his forehead gently and he tries to catch my finger. I let him and he inspects it in apparent fascination, petting my fur and watching it change the way it lays. I turn back to Hueso, “Donnie doesn’t like the lights. He seems fine with the noise, but the lights stress him out.”
I had to change the way that everyone is strapped to me because Raph becomes very distressed when at least one of his brothers isn’t in direct contact with him. Leo is one kicky baby, so usually I put Raphael in a sling with Mikey and put Leo in Donnie’s backpack setup so he doesn’t provoke his brothers. Hueso let me set up a soft “room” in Donnie’s cupboard so he doesn’t get hurt while I can’t supervise him (thankfully the days of randomly ceasing to breathe and being unable to hold up his head have long passed, if he even had those).
“You can’t keep just slinging around infants while on shift.” Hueso frowns.
“Well I can’t just leave them.” I shrug.
“My ex-wife owes me.” he says, out of nowhere. I just stare at him, waiting for him to elaborate. “She could babysit.”
“Aren’t you the one who got custody of Junior?”
“Yes, when he was four.”
I raise an eyebrow. “You’re gonna ask your ex-wife, who you probably haven’t spoken to in months, to babysit four cappa infants that aren’t even mine in the legal sense?”
He shrugs, like that’s a tomorrow problem. “She likes weird kids.”
“That… actually might work.” I pause. “But only for an hour or two at a time. They still need to feed every three hours or they start screaming. Like banshees.”
Hueso winces, scrubbing a hand over his face. “Fine. Part-time help. Just don’t let any of them fall into the deep fryer.”
“No promises about Leo. That one’s got a death wish.”
Behind me, Leo lets out a delighted squawk from his new spot strapped to my back, as if to prove my point by nearly launching himself backward like a spring-loaded potato. I reach behind me on instinct and pin him back down with a flat hand.
Hueso sighs. “Deu, you are exhausting.”
“You’re the one who hired me.”
“You’re the one who showed up looking like a cryptid nanny with nowhere else to go.”
He has a point. I glance at the clock. Ten minutes till open. “You want me to mop or run stock first?”
“Mop,” he grumbles. “That frog wizard from uptown tracked glitter through here again. I swear if I catch him-”
“Murder. Got it,” I say lightly, grabbing the mop and twirling it once like a baton.
Donnie makes a delighted coo from his cupboard.
Hueso watches him for a moment, then mutters, “Why do I feel like I’m going to end up with five employees under four feet tall by the end of the year.”
I grin. “Because you’re soft, boss.”
“I’m overworked and undercaffeinated.”
“And soft.” He throws a dish rag at me. I duck.
Five minutes pass by uneventfully. I was mopping, Hueso was talking to someone on the phone, then joined me in wiping down counters. Four minutes before we open, the doorbell jingles. I glance up.
Who enters is the same kind of yokai as Hueso and they are similarly thin, but their “lips” are thinner and their shoulders have a relaxed slope to them. Their dress is colourful, consisting of a white pirate shirt and a skirt with a beautifully complex pattern and colour scheme, a bandana covering their head.
I wonder if I should tell them that we’re still technically closed when they open their mouth:
“Ah, Hueso, ¿así que este es el desmadre en el que te metiste por casarte?” I blink, trying to translate their words in my head. “Is this, something something, married(?), something”. Yeah, my Spanish definitely needs some work.
"No me casé-”
"Ni me digas, no quiero saber." They laugh, airy and melodic, covering their mouth with a dainty hand. They finish laughing at Hueso’s expense, then finally seem to notice me — or, more accurately, the infant strapped to my front currently gnawing on a teething ring with great determination. “¡Ay, no me digas que este muñequito es tuyo, Hueso!” they gasp with mock scandal, then turn their bright eyes on me. “¿Y tú quién eres, corazón? No te había visto antes.” I open my mouth to respond but they cut me off, reaching forward and gently patting Raph’s little foot. “Soy Médula, por cierto. ¿Y tú? ¿Cómo te llamas, mi cielito?” There is a beat of silence.
“…Uh,” I manage eloquently, eyes wide. “Sorry, I don’t— I mean, No hablo espanol…?” There’s a pause.
Then Médula gasps — hand to her chest, eyes wide with theatrical shock. “Oh, honey, and here I was laying it on thick like you were born and raised in Oaxaca.” She laughs again, all light and mischief. “¡Ay, este calaverito no me dijo nada!” she says, throwing Hueso a dramatic glare. “You didn’t tell me your helper was this cute and tragically monolingual! Don’t worry, mi cielito, I gotchu. English is fine.”
She leans in a little, examining my face, then Raph and Mikey. Okay, so I think this is his ex-wife. Okay. Cool cool cool.
“Um, one’s in the cupboard because he doesn’t like the lights here and one is on my back.” I warn her, “And I’d be eternally grateful if you helped me take care of them while I work because, as much as I love them, they’re way too much trouble when I’m getting yelled at.”
“Of course, of course!” she nods, smiling, “What are the muñequitos named?”
“Alright, so this one is Raphael, he’s a sweetheart but will bite you if your hand is too close to his face, and he needs at least one of his brothers in line of sight. He’s very touchy, so the best one for keeping him calm is Michelangelo, who is this little fellow, he’s an angel, the one strapped to my back is Leonardo and he loves to kick and also try to eat Donnie specifically and the one in the cupboard is Donatello, he doesn’t like being jostled. Good luck!”
Médula chuckles, now with her arms full of babies all doing their own thing and I can finally work like a normal person.

Yokai watch self insert oc!! (i just started getting into ykw so cut me some slack if some info is wrong ;-;)
On the far left is Quinn! He is an S rank fusion between a human and a yokai. The yokai’s name is Equinox and the human’s name is Sunny! He takes most of the human’s attributes. Although, sometimes some parts of his skin may turn transparent depending on either mood or just because the concealer is coming off. He doesn’t go to school and he is 5’3.
Equinox is the one-eyed ghost. He’s based off of daylight savings. He messes up your schedules and everything gets jumbled up!! He’s apart of the mysterious tribe and he’s an A rank yokai. :3
Sunny is some regular dude. Him and Equinox were best friends since birth before Equinox died. They were so close, Sunny was just able to see him and fuse with him at will. Sunny is a 16 yr old Junior and he’s 4’11. He rarely ever attends school though!

Time Is All We Have
A Doctor Who x Rise of the TMNT Xover interest check/story prologue because i'm losing all control of my life lmao
Quick mini-primer for where in both timelines we are:
Non-teetle fixaters, you can just watch the first few minutes of the Rise movie. Bad future timeline shenanigans wahoo! You should probably also get a feel for the regular present timeline from the show if you can, though we won't be directly interacting with it for a quite a bit. Because Reasons. :)
Non-Who fixaters, we're rolling with David Tennant Doctor The First and the companion named Martha Jones. The name similarity to the Casey Joneses makes me giggle, especially now that I've watched through the (REDACTED) episodes where she ends up with some more Caseys parallels. Those haven't happened yet for her though lmao. Frankly, she's only had a few episodes'-worth of adventures with the Doctor by this point. :)
anyway. shoutout to my brother purpletango for having this idea. i believe what i hurriedly jotted down in my notepad app went like this:
the rise movie begins, mikey gets ready to send junior back in time- -and something goes wrong. welp, the gateway's there now. may as well use it. junior gets yeeted through (and my brain is now adding the idea of leo realizing something's up and going with him) and junior (and maybe leo) land…in the TARDIS. now they gotta get back to earth (hoping they're at least in the right dimension) to find the key and stop the krang. NO PRESSURE LMFAO
with a lil tweaking to the premise that just sorta happened as i was writing, i'm now at 26k words of combined fic and notes. it has been 2.5 weeks. i am nowhere near done. help lmao
gonna be doing something a bit funky with the tardis here just to get the ball rolling. idk if it's a canon thing that can happen but if it's not then shshshshshshsh just pretend with me. take my hand
〜
Almost exactly twelve hours prior to the moment he died, when the rest of what remained of the Resistance had been asleep and it had only been the turtles awake to keep watch, Michelangelo had looked to his big brother and said, "We can't beat them, can we?"
Last night, Leonardo had swallowed and given a slight shake of his head. "We can't."
"They've even stolen the night sky from us somehow," Michelangelo had said, lifting his gaze to the cloudless, crimson sky. "Look, there's no stars anymore."
"When did that happen?" Leonardo had asked under his breath. "We still had at least a handful last I checked…"
"Sometime since the last time we had enough peace and quiet at night to actually look up. I'd say…in the past few weeks?" Michelangelo had suggested.
There had been silence for a long moment after that, broken only by the quiet, deep breathing of the few who were left, as well as the shifting of Michelangelo's cloak as he scooted a bit closer to his brother.
Between the two of them, Leonardo and Michelangelo had enough organic fingers and toes to count everyone else who'd survived the past twenty-odd years. Then again, with only two toes on each foot, three fingers on each hand, and three organic hands left to use…well. Less than twenty wasn't exactly an army.
Casey had shifted in his sleep, eventually, mumbling something incoherent the way his mother always had.
Leonardo had swallowed.
Michelangelo had pulled his gaze back down to Earth and looked at him.
"The Krang won't give us the mercy of dying," Leonardo had said grimly. "Not if they can help it."
"They won't," Michelangelo had agreed.
"The others chose to fight with us. Humans, yokai, and mutants. Even Todd. Never would've expected him of all yokai to be so kickass, back in the day. But…this is all Casey's ever known," Leonardo had continued.
"It is."
There had been a shifting in the shadows off in the distance, then, and while it had turned out to be easily taken care of, it had still put a pause on the brothers' conversation for a bit.
When they'd gotten back, but before they'd woken the others and gotten moving again, Leonardo had nailed Michelangelo with a solemn look. "We can't avoid this forever, but Casey…"
"I know you're not talking about that thing we talked about never talking about," Michelangelo had said, raising the ridges of his brows for a deadpan look and a wry smile.
Leonardo had jabbed an elbow into his plastron with a thick snicker…but he hadn't denied it.
Michelangelo had sobered up, then. "Oh."
"Do you think you can do it?" Leonardo had asked as he'd knelt to shake April awake, pausing before he did to meet Michelangelo's eyes.
"I know I can," Michelangelo had said, remaining quiet about how 'it' would very likely be the end of him.
They'd both already known as much.
"When?"
"I-I don't know. When things look bleakest," Leonardo had tried. "If it comes down to us. If it's just you and somebody else. If…if it's just you."
Michelangelo had nodded, then put a hand on his brother's carapace. "The Krang'll get front-row seats to Earth's very own home-grown sun. And that's a Doctor Delicate Touch guarantee."
"Wouldn't expect anything less, little man," Leonardo had chuckled. "Give 'em a light show that'll have 'em running scared."
"I can fly, Leo. And 'little man' was always Raph's thing," Michelangelo had snickered, reaching down to wake Casey. "Hey, Casey, we gotta get moving. Mind waking up and reminding your sensei that I win all height contests forever, no take-backs?"
The noise had begun rousing the others, and Leonardo had scoffed. "Turning my own student against me, Mikey? Low blow."
"Nah," April had said from where she lay. "This is a low blow."
She had snapped an arm out to smack Leonardo's shin, and the rest of the survivors had woken to quiet laughter.
It had been nice.
The last moment of calm within the storm.
In the present, Michelangelo winced as the mystic energies swirling through him reached a crescendo, but still pushed further, digging his fingers into the fabric of reality and wrenching it apart.
With Leonardo wounded, everyone else outnumbered, and Krang closing in on all sides, it was definitely pretty bleak.
There was no better time to make a time gateway than when there was no time left, after all.
His heart pounded in his tympana, loudly enough he almost could have sworn it echoed, a thud-thud-thud-thud that wanted to shake him to the core.
For a moment, with the Krang bearing down on him, his brother, and his nephew, it felt like he was losing his grip.
Casey's voice managed to overpower the thud-thud-thud-thud: "Master Michelangelo, no! You're gonna-!"
He knew.
How could he not, with light cracking his skin and his scales into little flakes of dust on the wind?
But Casey…he was the future.
The best of all of them.
As long as Casey would be okay, Michelangelo could do anything. Would do anything.
He turned his head back over his shoulder for one last look.
Casey looked horrified.
Leonardo looked resigned.
There was no one else left.
(He didn't want to go.)
Michelangelo smiled and gave his family a cheeky little wink, then turned his attention to the time gateway in front of him, threw his arms out to his sides with one last heave-!
-and like Earth's very own home-grown supernova, like the very last star in the universe, he imploded into golden light.
〜
Leonardo felt himself shatter inside as Mikey disintegrated and the time gate stabilized, but the Krang were still closing in.
"Casey, when you're done saving the world, do me a favor," he said, putting a hand on the kid's shoulder.
Casey looked up at him with wide eyes. "Sensei, don't-!"
Leonardo just smiled sadly and shifted his grip from comforting to more of a ready to throw.
He ignored the fire in his side and the trickle of blood down his plastron as he hurled Casey into the gateway. "Grab a slice-!"
"NO!"
Casey's scream was the only warning Leonardo had before the wrist-strapped grapple (standard issue, at least before Donnie had gone out with a bang) streaked back out of the portal, latched onto Leonardo's good shoulder, and yanked him off his feet.
"Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa-!"
The deafening thrum of a Krang laser and a flash of heat at his back told Leonardo exactly how he should have died, but the sensations vanished just as quickly as they'd appeared, leaving only the golden light of Michelangelo's ninpo and the silhouette a few yards away that told Leonardo where Casey was.
Leo almost let himself go limp in the rushing mass of energy as it faded from golden-orange to something more bluish-gray.
Almost.
Instead, however, he grit his teeth against the way his wound flared up and started swimming for Casey.
The light around them grew brighter with no signs of stopping.
By the time Leo reached the kid, he had to screw his eyes shut to avoid going blind.
He managed to grab Casey's hand, then wrap himself protectively around him-
-and then some kind of metal grating slammed against his carapace, his head snapped back, and he knew only darkness.

The Doctor blinked at the sudden sound of beeping. "Oh? That doesn't sound right."
"Doctor? What is it?" asked Martha.
"I'm getting an alert," said he, darting over to one of the TARDIS' monitors for a look. "An alert that there's a lifeform catapulting through the timestream almost completely unprotected- two! Two lifeforms!"
Martha blinked. "What? How did that happen?"
"I don't know, but if we want to find out, we'd best get them onboard before whatever shielding they do have is eroded away." The Doctor studied the monitor for a moment more, then slid around the console and started throwing the appropriate levers and flicking the appropriate switches. "I need to focus on getting close- would you mind peeking out the doors to make sure my aim isn't off?"
"On it!"
The Doctor grinned, then turned his focus back to steering. "Aaalright then! They ought to be coming up just ahead, maybe a smidge to our left-!"
"I see them!" Martha called. "One of them- one looks human!"
The Doctor blinked, then looked up. "Only the one?"
Martha nodded, not tearing her eyes from the window. "The other looks almost like a turtle! Except, well, it's person-sized!"
"Curiouser and curiouser," the Doctor mused. Then, looking back down at the console, "Well, I think the simplest course of action would be to just…scoop them up!"
Martha glanced his way in confusion. "What, just open the door and grab 'em?"
"Exactly. You'll want to be quick and precise," the Doctor recommended. "Good to know we're on the same page."
After a moment to process what he'd said, Martha nodded slowly. "…right."
The Doctor carefully piloted the TARDIS close, and as he watched the energy readings of the two lifeforms get close enough, he heard Martha open the door, then yelp in surprise as something hard hit the metal flooring with a clang.
"Sensei?!" squawked the thick and emotional voice of a pubescent human boy.
"Oh, my," said the Doctor, skirting the edge of the console as he jogged over for a look.
Immediately, he could tell that whatever the circumstances were that had led to the two strangers being catapulted into the timestream, they had not been pretty. Between the apocalyptic fashion and weaponry, the fact that the turtle had seemingly been curled around the boy until losing consciousness, and the sight of tear tracks on the boy's face…well, a billboard would have been less obvious.
The boy glanced between the Doctor and Martha, wide eyes quickly shifting into suspicion as he slid off "Sensei's" plastron and placed himself between the turtle and the Doctor. "Who are you? What do you want with us? Are you with the Krang?"
Huh. He sounded American.
"Krang?" asked Martha, turning to him. "Doctor, what's a Krang?"
The Doctor frowned, mulling the word over. "Krang? Krang, Krang, KrangKrangKrang… Can't say I recognize the name. Bit of a shocker, really, and somewhat worrisome."
The boy's face spasmed, confusion clearly welling up, but the door chose to remind them all that it was still open by letting a tannish cloak drift through and land next to the two newcomers.
The sight of the cloak made the boy's eyes moisten further.
Oh, dear.
"Martha, could you get the door?" asked the Doctor, shifting his voice into something a little softer as he knelt next to the two strangers.
"Oh, uh- you got it."
As Martha did exactly that, the Doctor met the boy's eyes. "I'm the Doctor. Behind you is Martha, and this is the TARDIS. I don't know what it is you're running from, whatever this 'Krang' business is, but I promise you, you're safe here."
The boy's suspicion slowly lessened, the tension in his shoulders loosening some- though, notably, nowhere near completely. "And…what's a tardis?"
"My spaceship," said the Doctor modestly. "'S how I get around. What I want to know is, how did a humanoid teenager and a turtleman with a robotic arm end up hurtling through the timestream all on their lonesome?"
At that, the boy's gaze flickered to the cloak on the ground, and his jaw hardened in that way jaws tended to do when the only other option was to sob.
"…I see," said the Doctor quietly. "While I'd like to know the specifics, pushing this sort of thing never really seems to work out well. So I won't."
"You-" The boy's voice cracked, and he tried again. "You said you were a doctor?"
"The Doctor," corrected he.
"Though I've been training as one for quite some time, myself!" Martha reminded.
The boy visibly warred with himself for a moment, then grit his teeth and pulled slightly away from the turtle's side, revealing a nasty gash that had gone clean through his shell. "Help him. Please."
Martha gasped. "Oh, God-!"
The Doctor's eyes flew wide, but then he nodded firmly. "We'll do everything we can."
