What if Raph stayed mind controlled for longer? (TMNT 2012 rewrite)

As much as I love TMNT 2012, one of the things I thought was disappointing was having Raph only be mind controlled by Shredder for one episode. I think there was a lot of potential to have one of the turtles temporarily be on the villians side (kinda like how in the IDW comics Leo was brainwashed into becoming part of the foot clan) so I thought 'what if Raph stayed brainwashed for longer?' And now I want to share my idea

Clash Of The Mutanimals

Clash of The Mutanimals would largely remain the same, Slash and Rockwell are used as test subjects by Stockman and are brainwashed by Shredder, they end up in the turtles lair where they seem fine, but the mind control worms activate, a fight starts and they end up capturing Raph and bring him to Shedder where he ends up being brainwashed as well

However the changes start at the climax of the episode, instead of Leo making Raph mad which causes him to spit out the mind control worm, it's instead Donnie who manages to break Rockwell free first by insulting him till he's angry enough to spit it out. A now freed Rockwell then uses his psychic powers to blast the worm out of Slash. However when he tries to do it to Raph, it doesn't work, even the Turtles can't make Raph angry like they did with Rockwell. This is when Shedder taunts the turtles during his brawl with them and Mutanimals by revealing that during the time he had send out Slash and Rockwell out as bait, Stockman was able to create a stronger brain worm specifically for one of the turtles at the request of Shredder, which is why he ordered Slash and Rockwell to bring one of the turtles to him. Not only did he want Karai on his side again, but have one of the turtles as well just to rub salt in the wound for Splinter and the turtles. Eventually Slash and Leatherhead are able to push the statue on Shredder before a bunch of foot soldiers swarm the room with a still mind controlled Raph leading them. While the other turtles want to stay and save Raph, the Mutanimals (mainly Rockwell) tells them they have to retreat if they all don't want to be killed, and they reluctantly do so

Back at the lair we get the scene of Slash apologising to Splinter For hurting him, but also apologising for what happened to Raph, believing that it was his fault that he got captured. Splinter (though its clear that he's heartbroken over what happened) reassures Slash that what happened wasn't his or Rockwell's fault. At the very end Leo promises Splinter that he Mikey and Donnie will do everything they can to get Raph back

For the next episodes we see the heroes struggling with not only trying to find a alternative cure for the brain worms, but with the fact that one of their brothers/son/friends is gone and working for Shredder

Meet Mondo Gecko

Meet Mondo Gecko would for the most part be similar to the original, however we see how the characters are dealing with Raph's absence, with Mikey trying to distract himself in his shows, Donnie trying to find a cure for the mind control worms, and Leo endlessly training in order to basically kick Shredder's ass for what he did to Raph. Also during the race at the end, Fishface tries to taunt Mikey with bringing up what happened to Raph, how he and his brothers failed to save him and for a brief moment it works, but with the help of Mondo and Casey there able to finish the race

At the end of the episode we cut to Shredder's lair where we see him train with someone just as a defeated Fishface walks in. Fishface reveals to Shredder that the turtles haven't been the same since the loss of Raph (noting how angry Mikey got when he taught him about Raph) this pleases Shredder who says "how about we give them a much needed family reunion" before the camera pans to show not only a now brainwashed Karai, but a still brainwashed Raph in a new design that he will keep till The Fortold Trap

Think of the design as a mix of his Vision quest and Owari design but more Foot Clan themed. Also due to him loosing his Sai's during Clash of The Mutanimals (which Splinter now keeps close to him) He now uses the Shredder claws he used in that same episode as his main weapon

The Deadly Venom

Now this episode notably has a few changes, firstly the beginning of the episode is a flashback that took place before Meet Mondo Gecko, explaining what had happened with Karai and how she got brainwashed. In present day Shedder once again orders Karai to take down the turtles, Splinter, April and Casey, but this time she's joined by Raph who Shedder thinks they can use to find them easier (que the two acting like siblings). During the talk with Splinter and Leo at the start, Leo starts to open up about how he wishes that he wasn't so hard on Raph before he got brainwashed, thinking that if he didn't antagonise him as much as he did, then he would still be here. Splinter tries to comfort Leo by reassuring him that what happened to Raph wasn't his, Slash's or anyone else's fault, but it's clear after that Leo is still upset

With the help of Raph, Karai is able to find April's home where she uses her venom to poison her. When she fights Casey at first he has the upper hand, that is until Raph joins the fight and he hesitates, which Karai uses to her advantage to poison him as well. The turtles get an SOS from Casey, both Mikey and Leo go to investigate and they find Casey, but before they bring him back they are ambushed by Raph, both shocked with how diffrent he looks. They struggle during the fight, not only due to the training Raph had received from Shredder, but don't want to hurt him. During the fight however Mikey gets bitten by one of Karai's snakes, and Raph is able to capture him and Casey. Before he and Karai leave she demands Leo and Donnie to meet them both in the station or else they will kill Casey and Mikey, with no other choice Leo calls Donnie, explains the situation and the two adventure into the station while kirby and Splinter watch over a still poisoned April

The episode largely remains the same at this point with Leo and Donnie bring poisoned from the water, but Leo is able to heal himself with the Healing Hands and fights both karai and Raph, however at one point where Raph has Leo cornered and is a about to strike him but he hesitates, as if his trying to stop himself from hurting him, and Leo notices this. Back at the lair after the others are healed Leo reveals to the others what happened with Raph hesitating, and this gives the others hope that Raph is still in there

Mutanimals episode

ok so this is probably gonna be my biggest change, I'm gonna move Turtles in Time and Tale of The Yokai to take place after The Fortold Trap. In it's place would be an episode focusing on the mutanimals, mainly Slash. The episode would focus on Slash's guilt with what happened in Clash Of The Mutanimals, in his mind if he hadn't tried to ambush Tiger Claw at the docks, none of this wouldn't have happened and raph wouldn't have gotten brainwashed. Now I'm not gonna go into too much detail on this one cause I'm still trying to come up with ideas for it, but the main thing is that the episode would have a Mutanimals vs Raph and Karai fight that hints again of Raph trying to regain control from the mind control worm. Attack Of The Mega Shredder

After finding out that Raph had hesitated in The Deadly Venom and the Mutanimals episode, Shedder has Stockman inject Raph with a serum in order to make the mind control worm inside him stronger. As he and karai watch, Shedder reassures her they they will both get their revenge (though we get hints that karai herself is starting to fight back against the mind control worm) he then orders Bebop and Rocksteady to double the security. Like in the orignal episode the other turtles try to break into Shredder's lair in order to save Raph and Karai as well as get one of the mind control worms, but they end up getting caught and have to retreat, with Donnie being to get his leg broken by Tigerclaw

Leo then tries to sneak into the lair alone but Mikey follows him and Leo eventually let's him join. Again the episode largely remains the same but during the climax while they try to stop the Mega Shredder, Leo and Karai have a one v one. Thoughout the episode Karai was slowly starting to fight back against the worms control, and eventually with the help of Leo reminding her who she is, she is able to spit out the brain worm, and now Karai is back on the heroes side and helps them defeat the Mega Shredder

They bring Karai back, we have a sweet reunion between her and Splinter, and she reveals that Shredder has infected Raph with the serum, making their job to find a cure more difficult. Leo then suggests to Karai that with Shredder being hell bent having her in his clutches, she should temporarily leave New York in order to not get captured again, which she does (explaining her absence for the rest of the season)

The Creeping Doom

This episode is basically the same as the orignal, just without Raph

The Fortold Trap

Here we are, the finale to this arc. The main difference with this episode is obviously instead of Karai, it's Raph who lures the team into a trap (also Casey is here) using his knowledge of his brothers, he lures each of them out into a trap. First Donnie, then Mikey, and finally Leo, Casey and April with the help of Shredder's mutants. When April tries to escape and Raph stops her, she pleades with him to snap out of it, but it falls on deaths ears as it's clear that what Stockman inject into Raph in Attack Of The Mega Shredder is working

He brings them into the trap rooms (with Casey being in the fire room) and while April continues to try and tell Raph to let go and snap out of it, he calls Splinter so he can witness the turtles, April and Casey's demise. With that Splinter basically goes "screw it" and goes to confront him and Shredder's mutants (bringing Raph's Sai's with him) After beating the mutants, we finally get a Raph vs Splinter fight, though its clear that he doesn't want to fight his own son. As the turtles and Casey each break out of their trap rooms with the help of April, Splinter begs Raph to fight back against Shredder's control, and eventually Raph briefly does for a moment. As he does before he can strike, Splinter and Leo together perform the Healing Hands on Raph. Raph stumbles and is about to fall into the rivulet before Donnie and Mikey catch him. And after a brief moment, he finally spits out the brain worm (which Leo quickly kills) he opened his eyes, they're back to normal and he mutters "what did I miss, guys?" With that the Turtles, Splinter, April and Casey group hug him, crying as they are happy to finally have him back. Raph begins profusely apologise for everything that happened, how he almost killed them but they reassure him that what happened wasn't his fault, and that they are just happy to finally have him back after so long. With that they head home, finally a full team and family again

On Turtles in Time and Tale of The Yokai, the episodes basically remain the same, they just take place after The Fortold Trap

and she's still a living drawing which I'm changing around a bit being why she felt like a "weirdo" and leaned towards subcultures and the turtles, she did eventually begin to destabilize but Venus stabilized her by trapping her in a scroll so she could work on a solution. ...where she has a long, happy relationship with Chu Hsi in the painted world scroll because lol time dilation

11.) Which version of Raphael is your favorite?

At this point in my TMNT journey, I still have yet to encounter a Raphael that beats the 2003 version for me. It's funny; under normal circumstances, the "angry/aggressive on the outside, soft/sweet on the inside" type of character really does not do it for me anymore, but the thing I really appreciate about 2k3 Raphael is that his short temper and aggression are not only treated as actual problems by the narrative, but it is something that he himself is aware of and is actively working on because, you know, the last thing he wants to do is hurt the people he loves in a blind rage. He really does go through a lot of character development over the course of the series and by the time the controversial Fast Forward season rolls around, he's significantly mellowed out and his relationships with his brothers have improved as a result. (Back to the Sewer may be the one season I truly dislike, but this scene with Raph and Mikey from "Super Power Struggle" has my heart.)

17.) Which version of the Shredder is your favorite?

It's funny; even though I absolutely love 2003 Shredder for how much of a threat he is throughout the series, I much prefer the characterization for the IDW Shredder. I just... love all the lore and depth he's been given as an antagonist. I would need to go back and reread some issues of the IDW comics I've already gone through to give my full thoughts on the guy, but he is pretty much single-handedly responsible for making me like "Yeah, Shredder works much better as a human character."

21.) What is your favorite story arc?

The Adventures in Turtlesitting/Good Genes arc. I am such a sucker for the whole "normally sweet character goes through a monstrous transformation that causes them to attack their loved ones" plot and the fact that Donatello's double mutation was killing him from the inside out added to the stakes of the whole thing. Never mind that the arc showed just how far the brothers are willing to go for each other, even if that meant making a deal with one of their worst enemies IE Bishop. (The arc also brought back Leatherhead after he basically disappeared following the end of Season 3, which I'm very happy about.)

I recently met Jennika in the idw comics and now i have Family Web thoughts.

(i had said a while ago that i probably wouldn't add Jennika or Venus until i knew more about them. Well here we are. for jennika at least. Still haven't met Venus (if she's even in the idw comics. everyone else is so i kinda expect to see her at some point) but i have a way of adding her in as well, which i might do regardless.)

I'm not sure i have words enough today to explain my entire thought process on Jennika here, but i'm going to certainly try. under the cut b/c it might end up rambling

Jennika is the turtles' bio little sister born months after their disappearance. I'm not sure if Lou knew about her before everything went down (i'm thinking not since i'd imagine it was fairly new news to even Mama and she just didn't have the time to tell him.)

Her Spider traits are visibly subtle unless she is actively showing them off. Her eyes are red (and can be entirely red w/ a bit of a glow like mama's spider eyes) and her teeth are pointed. She can also stick to surfaces (which she does a lot) and she might do webs like mikey (i'm still debating that one.)

Jennika grew up fairly isolated b/c Mama already lost her other four and she didn't want to risk loosing Jennika as well. She had tutors for everything. She excels in dance class and when she showed interest in martial arts, she was given a teach and excelled in that too.

She idolizes her mother and, having grown up being told about her older brothers (and promises that they would be reunited one day) she idolizes them as well. Well, she idolizes the versions of them she's mentally imagined over the last 12 years. So meeting them in person would be a bit of a shock since she was expecting four perfect brothers and, instead, got four goobers who think that even frozen pizza is a delicacy.

She can already use her mystics pretty reliably (via a mystic conduit like the boys' weapons). Hers is basically just shadow clones that she can (maybe) mystically switch places with when needed.

She usually hangs out on the ceiling of mama's office when she's not in classes. But, once she turned 13, was finally able to convince Mama to let her help a little more directly. Since then she has posing as Mama's assistant (though mama insists that she must use a clone if the task is anything other than standing next to Mama. Jennika doesn't always listen to this rule.)

I might have more, but i can't think of it right now. so just enjoy some concept art for the turtle's little sister, i guess.

I have such an unhealthy obsession with arctic foxes, so imagine how I felt when I found out about Alopex in the IDW comics Basic gist of my Rise! Alopex: Since her story in the comics remind me so much of Casey/Foot Recruit (i.e. formerly in the foot clan and once separated from them couldn't find a purpose until later on, it's a stretch i know but it's all i could think of) I decided to do the good ol' switcharoo and give this Alopex the usual Casey story where she's a subpar vigilante in the Mystic City.

As for how she meets the Mad Dogs, Alopex meets Raph first while he's alone in the Mystic City and on the verge of panicking. Alopex is just 'uhhh wanna see some tricks?' to distracts Raph and guide him around the city.

Once Raph reunites with his brothers, he introduces them to Alopex basically tells them 'i met this loser who's been using her weapons all wrong, can she come over for tutoring sessions' and the others are just 'you can't keep doing this-' He does it anyway :)

Like in the comics, she's closest to Raph but not in a romantic sense. The two just like to partake in some good ol' sparring and stopping criminals, like the familiar Casey/Raph dynamics from previous iterations. I like to think she'd be second closest to Mikey and act as a bridge for the eldest and youngest brothers to connect like they did growing up. I haven't thought of anything for Leo or Don yet, I'll have to get back to that :P

You know, not long ago the end of the IDW tmnt was released - they will have a relaunch - and although I'm honestly not very happy with the ending, there is one thing that interested me a lot, and that was Donnie's science/mystical children.

(ff: they're name after the androids from the book 'do androids dreams of electric sheep?' )

And I immediately thought 'oh my god, what if they were in DOTH?

Imagine this, what would happen if Draxum won? Everything goes as planned and now Galawh is basically president of the world, yet suddenly, out of nowhere, Donnie gets his memories back. However, it's too late. His family is gone, he can't find them, even Draxum doesn't know where they are. Even with all the resources of the world at their fingertips, they just... Gone.

Donnie can't believe this, he can't accept this. He's a genius, he can-going to fix this. He just snap. Sure, he'll fix this, if he can't find his family he'll just make a new one! Of course, it's the most optimal solution!

Using Draxum's research, his new family is born, specially designed to mirror his brothers, to the point of being the same species as them.

He did it! They are here! Everything is going so well at first, however, as time goes on, Is notice that something is not right.

Why is Mikey (Max) so tall? Why is Raph (Roy) so short? Since when is Leo(pris) a girl? Why they're all so... different?

Meanwhile the kids wonder why their father acts like this? Why does he look at them like they're supposed to be someone else?

Meanwhile Cass and tigerclaw enter an armored room. After years they finally found him, he had been so close all this time, Draxum had to lock him in there, it was the only way, Leo just wasn't going to give up.

I mean, the biggest plot hole here is the idea that Leo can be contained.

Okay, so the Turtles visual history cover, I love what they did with the styles they gave each turtle, left to right. Turtles count it off!

1. We start with Raphael in original comic style. Not just original comic, where they were streamlined(?) into basically the 03 look, but first issue style, with the pointy beak for an upper lip. This fits because the original comic turtles all had red bandanas. And while the following issues did still have violence, I think first issue is still the most, if not one of the most violent, and Raph is traditionally the most violent of the group.

2. Mikey, 80s cartoon style. I mean come on, he was most people’s favorite when it came to this show, he was practically the mascot, he was the one used for that anti drug thing with all the cartoon characters. And Mikey’s personality across iterations would usually be the one most fitting of the 80s style. And he’s got a slice, he also tends to be the one who loves pizza most, and the pizza loving was introduce through the show.

3. Leo…Not gonna lie, I’m kinda drawing a blank with this one. He could be movie Leo, because the 90 movie was huge, and now that I think about it, he is the first live action turtle we fully, clearly see on screen in that movie. That’s significant for turtles fans. I was thinking it could’ve been 03, but that show didn’t get much in the book (which it seems they’re gonna remedy in the revised and expanded version coming out soon).

4. Donnatello in 12 style. Firstly, legacy VA returned to voice him. Secondly, (which I honestly didn’t consider till now), 12 Donnie might have the most going for him out of all 4 (you of all ppl could correct me on that if I’m wrong). 03 Donnie was still smart and a tech wizz, but Donnie had a return to 80s form with making crazy machines out of garbage and alien tech, or just straight up garbage, and they work! Plus he’s got the crush on April, rivalry with Casey, personal struggles I’m not sure I’ve seen before, some other things, and he’s funny! I don’t think I liked Donnie in general as much as I liked 12 Donnie, and I think that was a common sentiment. He was definitely the least often favored Turtle till recent times, especially with Rise, which came out a while after this book. 12 Donnie was the start of him getting a lot of love.

I was almost certain that's IDW Leo due to his design (though he more so reminds me of how the turtles are drawn on the Ultimate Collection covers), plus there's a potential pattern of, "comic turtle, cartoon turtle, comic, cartoon."

I really do love the choices they went with for each turtle though, because it's arguable that the versions are representative of pivotal moments in their characterization. While Raph overall remained the same cynical, rough knuckled but soft-hearted turtle throughout the years (to great effect mind you depending on the execution), Mikey inevitably became known as the pizza loving party dude we recognize because of how the 80s cartoon depicted him, and that's something that's stuck with him for four decades now.

Again, not entirely sure of what Leo that one is, but if it is IDW Leo, that would make sense. The story he goes through in that era of the comics is undoubtedly unmatched by anything we received in the movies and cartoons. It was possibly the truest embodiment of him growing to be a leader and the largest amalgamation of hardships he goes through to reach that point.

'12 Donnie is such a silly little guy from a silly little show that ran at the same time as the IDW comics💀, but I'm willing to bet most (read: most, not all) people look at him as a pivotal version of the character. Obsessed with machinery and chemistry, awkward from spending years underground with the same folks for so long, but undeniably willing to go above and beyond for his family and friends. He's not unanimously the definitive best version of Donnie, but he was a bit of a trendsetter for some of the traits that reappear in the future iterarions, and Rob Paulsen's voice 100% added to this version of him.

So I wanna start bulking up my writing catalog so I can start doing writing commissions maybe we'll see. This is just to feel out interest in a few ideas I've had.

For clarification, these would be posted to AO3, i.e., not comics. Also, the titles are very tentative now and are subject to change.

2012 Good Genes is still my top priority to make content for. This would be alongside it.

When the Dust Settles (or Mutant Apocolypse rewrite)

Pretty self-explanatory, I posted some of my ideas here and even have a rough first chapter written. However, I would need to spend time "connecting the dots" so to speak.

2. Perfect Son 2012 AU ( or Leo becomes a human and forgets he was ever a turtle)

Takes place post-season five.

This is an idea living rent-free in my head for a while and I'm having a hard time summarizing it in a quick 1-2 sentences but basically: Leo goes missing and several weeks later April and Casey meet a kid at their school who sounds exactly like him, who feels like Leo, but doesn't remember being Leo. At the same time, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey meet a creature that looks exactly like Leo but is entirely hollow and under the control of a mysterious woman.

I have some of this planned out and it's definitely a smaller scale idea compared to the other two.

3. Dark Roots ( or I create my own turtles)

Ah, there comes a time in every tmnt fanfiction writer's life when they create their own version of the turtles. Basically, after Shredder killed Tang Shen, Splinter chased him out of Japan, where he wound up in New York. Shredder adopted some turtles, they all got mutated, and after which Shredder decided to create an army to take his revenge one day.

I freakin love how in IDW Donnie was a bit of an asshole for the first few issues and wanted to apply that to a whole version. Leo will do anything to keep his father's approval, to be the perfect ninja in his eyes. Raph knows he'll always be a worse version of Leo in his father's eyes so lashes out. Donnie struggles to keep up with his brothers, focusing on showcasing his intelligence. And Mikey is starting to see the damage his father is causing not just to his family but the whole city.

I have some rough notes written down, but there are a lot of disjointed thoughts in my head about this, so take that as you will.

Where would u place Rise Raph? Lke, 4th maybe? I know u did a list ranking Raphs (and Leos too), but I don't know remember where you placed him.

Also, what ask were u talking about that u sent Pumpkinpie that talked about IDW Raph, and/or IDW Raph x Alopex? I tried to find it, but I didn't.

I do admit I still love IDW Raph, IDW Alopex and that ship (I also love IDW Casey still, I know pumpkinpie doesn't like him as much anymore), but I get why people may not like them and/or that ship anymore. Tbh, I actually (probably) like Leo with Alopex more. Not nesscarily shipping them, but just them together. Because I love both characters, and they got an interesting and tragic history together (i.e.; both of being traumitized by Shredder and/or Kitsune), and so I really like stuff with them. And I am still hoping we get more good canon IDW stuff with them. As well; as more fan stuff w/ them. Raph with Alopex and/or x Alopex is still fine and/or cool though.

Poor IDW Raph being placed last by u now. I do prefer IDW Leo and Mikey myself too. Like, Leo is my favorite, then Mikey is up there too. And Donnie and Raph were basically tied for me (though sometimes one would be over the other), and sometimes tied with Mikey. Anyways, I love all of them. But IDW Leo; wow. And IDW Mikey. I have other favorites/loves in IDW too. Like Karai, Koya, Jennika, Venus, etc., etc. But among the main 4 turtles it is Leo. Then Mikey. And just in general, Leo is my top favorite (yes, I am biased for Leo, I won't deny this. So ofc I love him so much. But Leo is geninuely so great in IDW). And Mikey (Mikey is also so good too) is also still really up there too. In that case. But I do still love IDW; he is a complicated boi (too/as well). And I don't think I would place IDW Raph in my top 3 or at least Top 2 for Raphs, but I don't think I would place him low, and defin. not last. However; if you do, that is totally fine though. DIfferent opinoins and stuff. I am curious to understand a bit more why u decided to put him in dead last for ur ranking of Raphs.

(Also; thank you for answering my ships question(s)! I am happy u love 2012 Leopril and Caseynardo so much too! And that u are liking MM Leopril so far. I hadn't really thought about Rise Cass x Leo that much. Though yesssss, I think they would/could have been really close in the Bad Future Timeline. Romanctically or not. And I think they could have/can have some fun, interesting potential in the present too. Just generally. Not just romantically. I was surprised to see u talk about Rise Leo x April too. Honestly, I think that relationship is very underrated. Both as a ship or not. Like, I love Rise April x Donnie too and their relationship in general, but I really do like Rise Leo and April and/or Rise Leo x April (I am putting both for these things, because sometimes I just like their relationship in general. And it doesn't have to be romantic. Or it could be romantic and/or become romantic), and I think it is really underrated. Esp./Even more compared with Rise April and Donnie and/or Rise Apriltello (I still love them too though).

Also; yes, yes I love Caprilnardo. I love both April x Leo x Casey and April x Casey x Donnie myself. :)

The Raph ranking

Honestly those two ranking lists I did I consider them outdated. Because I'm gonna admit with full shame that uhhhhhh- I didn't watch ALL of the TMNTs and there are some TMNTs I still haven't finished. So I find my old post more based on things I heard, red or the clips I saw. I will remake them when I see a good handful of TMNT.

Now onto Rise Raph, possibly 4th or 5th. Like said, 90s Raph is coming up. Plus as much as I love Rise Raph and how much focus he got, I really wish we saw more of him having like emotional damage or something and the reason why he is struggling being the leader is because he is incapable of controlling his emotions and there are many things that he lacks. I still love him in the finale and his character development and what we got from him. I just wish we got more but oh well, I'll take what we have gotten and what we will get later if the show comes back.

About the ask and IDW Raph

Sadly I'm having a hard time finding the ask. BUT. I have a big reason I dislike Raph x Alopex and why I no longer like IDW Raph. For the longest time I thought she was 2 years or so older then him and they met when she was at least an adult and Raph was also close to being an adult.

BUT THEN I FOUND OUT ALOPEX WAS 12 WHEN SHE MET RAPH WHO WAS 16 AT THAT TIME.

I did a bit of research and it's illegal and weird for a 16 year old to date a 12 year old. I wouldn't have cared if they had that age gap as adults but knowing that that is not the case makes me feel gross. I thought Next Mutation Raph sucked but now they share the same spot. Also Emily mentioned how Raph gets worse as the comics go on.

I don't know much about IDW so this opinion of mine comes from what I have learned and found out about.

Now to a bit more light hearted. I do enjoy and love IDW, even though I haven't red any of the actual comics or got them. I know quite some stuff like for example the things you mentioned.

I LOVE Leo and Mikey. My favorite ones! Leo's brainwashing was upsetting and blatant emotional damage, and Mikey MAN. He's my 2nd favorite Mikey right next to Ronnin Mikey. Just DAMN. He wasn't a coward and stood up to Splinter and basically told him to shut his mouth. MIKEY!! MY MAN IS AMAZING!

Also I will forever love Jennika and Venus. This comic series gave justice to Venus and brought back a character that deserved better. I will forever love both of these beautiful gals. Jenny is awesome and so is Vee Vee.

Now onto that last part, No problem! :3 Also I kind of decided that after I posted my answer I changed my mind. Rise Aprilnardo gets a 9/10 for me. It's close to 10 very close. AND YES IT'S UNDERRATED!!! Also i'm surprised to find a Rise Apritello shipper awh man.

gonna be super duper controversial with this one so im putting on bubble wrap to protect myself but least favourite donnie is… rise. oops. HEAR ME OUT!! i am totally fine with others liking rise don. i get the appeal. but my heart will forever love gentle, soft, sweet donnie, and whilst the change up in rise is COOL as hell, i just can’t with the sarccy, cold, snarky version of him. (plus i have a LOOOOT to say about ahem. certain stereotypes when it comes to writers creating canonically autistic characters but that’s another rant for another time) ONCE AGAIN!! i still enjoy his character!! but i just don’t find him to be my favourite.. okay swiftly moving on lol

Hey ik on that "equally distribute the horrors" post, a lot of people were talking about Mikey needing horrors (tbh he deserves some, they all need equal rights to the horrors.), but I've never seen anyone even talk about the horrors for Raph? Maybe that's just me and my web experience tho. - Raph gets beaten the fuck up and then gets thrown trough a skylight. He's then placed in a bath tub while he heals (Leo is the one who never leaves his side on this iteration)

- Nearly injures Mikey greatly with a metal tube because of anger (He feels really bad about this and i def think this moment never truly left his brain ever)

- Getting kidnapped by footbots, getting interrogated by Hun

- All the fights with shredder or karai/all the injuries gotten in all the fights with shredder or karai

You talking about a Lego Monkie Kid and TMNT 2012 and/or ROTTMNT crossover and/or reincarnation crossover au thing brings me so much joy. Can't tell u how much I now that in my life as someone who loves both TMNT and LMK so much.

I gotta say though, Rise Donnie as MK is a bit of a odd choice (would probably be very funny though). But I know that is like, the crack take, I think.

Also gotta ask, TMNT 2012 (or ROTTMNT) reincarnated into LMK crossover (au), who would u put to be reincarnated as who? Either a crack take or a more legit take and/or both?

To me, I could see, depending on the story I am going for or the character stuff I am going for or whatever, it could go many different ways. But I just wanted to see ur/others take(s) on it as well.

ROTTMNT LMK reincarnation AU(Really needs a name) is something more crack-ish for me to write. Considering when I thought who to put in each version, I thought it would be funny to have Donnie to be MK.

I could’ve chosen Lowe-key when Macaque was revive to suddenly have Donnie’s memories, but no. I chosen Mikey because I think him being Macaque is funny as well. Leo is coming close to second to Macaque

And April is obviously Mei. Cassandra can be Red Son lmaoooo

In ROTTMNT, nothing is really hold serious there, and I prefer it that way.

But TMNT 2012, I would say Mikey is MK. Rather basic but those are the best.

Tang Shen is related to Tang(cuz name and stuff), and Macaque is somehow roped into the Hamato life because he got acquaintance with Shen. How? Not sure yet.

Really debating hard if Mei to have reincarnated memories or not. Like do I want her as Mei, and actually a human friend that likes the Hamato because they didn’t save her or have April or Karai to be her.

While Mikey’s brothers is either still the same but different species eggs that Splinter had the sudden urge to steal and have no regrets on doing so or Im taking some characters in LMK to be reincarnated.

Unless we go to the crazy, dark, and depressing timeline where Mikey is the only one reincarnated and didn’t that like, so he decided to use his clones and use glamour on them and ta-da! Hamato family 2.0!

I really can’t do IDW right now since it’s not yet finished and I don’t have access to Vol 14

But if I finally finished 1987 TMNT, you can bet your pizzas that MK is Raph. Sassy little shit that breaks the fourth wall soooo much.

Sadly, for the TMNT movies, I really have no thoughts on them. 2003 is something in my watch list, that I will live blog. Surprisingly, the only spoiler I had is SAINW, Shredder is a Krang, Bishop ain’t a robot, Leatherhead is a scientist, Casey And April, and Baxter is a brian.

In the mean time while I try and make my 2003 Mondo Gecko AU art I might as well give some basics on him!

Quick content warnings! Mentions of eye licking as geckos do that, gang activity/violence, a bit of murder and animal experimentation 

- His gecko species is a gold crested day gecko or a “gold dust day gecko” aka one of these bad boys

- He has fully functioning eyelids but he still has the capability to lick his eyes as most geckos do, the only difference is that he doesn’t NEED to. He does so because he thinks it makes him look cool and “hardcore” but he just ends up hurting his eyes.

- Him and Mikey are besties but that’s just kind of a given, he skateboards, but also roller skates. 

- He’s FTM transgender (he/him pronouns), ask me how that works I have no idea but shhhh it’s fun and this is literally a series about teenage mutant ninja turtles so a trans gecko is not out of the realm of possibility.

- Similarly to IDW Mondo he can camouflage and stick to walls. 

- He has black hair much like his 1987 counterpart.

- His backstory is still being worked out but he has a “Mr. X” in this AU and he..was removed, and then after being moved in with the purple dragons before leaving after he was treated poorly, and on his run and escape is where he meets Mikey for the first time.

- Mr. X is a scientist and (former) gang leader, he was experimenting with human and animal mutation before his goons looked into TCRI and blah blah blah found ooze, took a human DNA sample from himself (or some person from his gang) and infused it with a baby gecko. I think you know the rest.

- Mondo would be raised by Mr. X until the purple dragons came to town and they had a similar deal like with Casey’s father, and, well Mr. X was late on his payment. Mondo was discovered, as a now 14 year old and would spend the next year with the purple dragons being treated horribly. He already knew what he was doing with a gang, but they didn’t take kindly to a skater teenage gecko. He was a best kept secret from Shredder, until maybe news broke? Mondo didn’t like the evil plans? Still deciding on that. 

- Well either way, Mondo is on the run from the purple dragons for days after he escapes, and he finds his way tot he sewers where he meets (and terrifies) an orange clad turtle with a girly scream.

- Mondo hears Mikey’s scream and it’s the funniest thing he’s heard ever in his life, so he breaks down laughing. Mikey chills out after realizing this stranger isn’t any harm to him or at least means no harm. They get to talking until Casey (who Mikey called in a fit of fear and desperation when his brothers wouldn’t help him, it’s April 1st soooo they didn’t trust it) knocks him out with his hockey stick, causing an argument between the two on what to do.

- They just take him back to the lair for Splinter to figure out, maybe Donnie can look at him in the morning? 

That’s all I have for now and, honestly I’m still working on stuff like specifics, how exactly this fits in with the whole Shredder narrative and backstory with Hun and the purple dragons but I’ll get there. I still haven’t made a single piece of art and I need to because I have this idea for “Same As It Never Was” with a future Mondo’s fate and just a bunch of other art with him being a goofy friend to the turtles who helps them out, him hanging out with the family, on missions with them, or just skateboarding around the sewers and it’s not like I’ve said everything yet like I haven’t touched his dynamic with the turtles, Splinter, April and Casey!

Also I’m sorry if this is long or disorganized I was just writing all of my thoughts because I’ve been sitting on them for the better half of a year and I didn’t want to wait on it anymore, also hey it might actually motivate me to make art! Someone else already did so I thought I should finally get on it!

6. Is there a battle nexus? Is it a respected facility or operated by criminals?

Oh man I haven't really thought of the battle nexus before...... tbh if I include it I'd like it to be a part of their space arc maybe, so leaning towards it being more of a respected facility, or at the very least an institution that is very clear about how it operates even if some of the rules aren't great

15. Is the Hamato clan history relevant? How did the clan originate?

It's SUPER relevant, much of the plot stems from the story of the Hamato clan. The clan originated from a much larger clan actually that was set to be inherited by two twin brothers. They disagreed on how to run the clan so they split it into two, one called the Hamato and one called the Foot. I don't want to go too much into the specifics of the rest of the history of the clans since I'm planning on a little art piece involving that soon, but basically the two do become enemies and even more important, the Hamato clan are designated as the liaisons between the human and mystic worlds. When Saki defects to the Foot and Yoshi seems to be shirking his duties, a bunch of yokai leaders commission for the turtles to be created to continue to have protectors of the Hamato bloodline. So yeah big effects on the story even just beyond the later fighting with Saki and the Foot over the Shredder armor hakdhskdh

21. Do the turtles time travel?

I know I definitely want them to cause that's a classic tmnt trope at this point but I don't know what that would entail. I really am a sucker for the stuff that loops, like whatever they did in the past affects their existence in the present and because they exist in the present they're able to go back and do those actions in the past, it was always destined to happen, etc. So it'd probably be something along the lines of that + just some fun stuff like always :)

22. If there is a battle nexus, who fights in it?

If I go with it being attached to the space arc, I think all the turtles might end up fighting in it, either on purpose or accidentally. I'm really attached to battle nexus champion Mikey so if they fight he's definitely winning the whole thing hakdhskdhsk 16 years old and champion of the universe(multiverse??) <3

76. Who is your favourite character?

HMMM THIS IS A HARD ONE..... it's like an even split between Leo and Raph, they're so compelling to me..... gives them problems forever and forever.

78. Tell us something you want to share about your au/iteration!

I think of the story for this iteration as split up into 4 main arcs! Each arc is based around a specific turtle and has a major conflict associated with it as the focus, though obviously all plots and character development continue to varying degrees throughout the course of the story. But anyways, in order they are:

Raph - conflict is Foot/Shredder based, deals with the past catching up to them and the cycles of past vs present. Big focus on Raph and Leo's strained relationship and the lengths Raph is driven to for his family, culminating in [REDACTED]

Donnie - conflict centered around the hidden city, marked by delving into mystics even more than before and uncovering secrets of the yokai world and their creation. Donnie's efforts start to unveil the larger webs

Mikey - conflict based on the Krang and associated space adventures (certain time related shenanigans also come to a head), involves truly stepping into the larger world and universe and continuing to follow the threads. Mikey reflects a final coming of age and shaking off forces seeking to control them

Leo - conflict with the pantheon (hello idw fans <3), embodies the final culmination of taking their lives into their own hands and refusing to be used as pawns. Addressing the issue of their influence is the last step Leo needs to take as a leader.

39. Is there a Karai/Miwa?

Honestly? Maybe both! Karai for sure exists in this au, she's the turtles' cousin and ends up on their side of the Foot/Hamato conflict after a while, but I might also have Miwa in there as a person totally removed from most of the plot as Tang Shen's daughter. Not quite sure on that yet though

a triceraton girl

maybe a princess? or a daughter of a high ranking official? kinda like seri from idw ig … idk

she’s about 7 ft tall

sweet and chipper personality. has some combat training but her main strength is weaponry and technology.

she was separated from the other triceratons when a rival alien species threw her through a portal and then destroyed it. so the triceratons are searching for her

she ended up on earth and was discovered by the epf.

the turtles discover that something suspicious is happening in the epf and end up breaking in to investigate. during this time, iya escapes on her own and ends up revealing the turtles to the epf. also as they escape mikey finds kala and sympathizes with her and takes her with them.

donnie chews her out for the mission going wrong but raph intervenes and tries to calm everyone down. when iya realizes that the turtles try to live in the shadows bc humans won’t accept them, she feels guilty and offers to make it up to them by helping them uncover the secrets of the epf.

she too scared to believe that she’ll ever see her people again tho. she tries to make peace with the possibility that the turtles are basically her new family/friends.

also she and kala become friends

she and donnie have a bit of a rough start in their friendship. donnie was suspicious of her, and her large size made her somewhat clumsy so he was worried she’d wreck his inventions and stuff.

but iya kept trying to prove herself. she took notice of his weapons that he created and showed interest in them, and donnie ended up being grateful that someone showed interest in his achievements, and meanwhile iya admired how passionate donnie got when talking about his inventions and things. until eventually iya started a little crush on him.

iya isn’t used to the type of leader leo is. her people are strict and disciplined, and leo … isn’t really lol. so it takes her some time to truly understand him. but she appreciates his high energy and values him as a friend.

since raph is slightly closer to her height than the others, and nearly matches her strength, she and raph have become sparring partners. she deeply respects the things she’s heard about him from what happened with the krang invasion; the whole sacrificing his own safety to protect his brothers thing.

i still need to brainstorm what i want her friendship with mikey to be like.

i think it’d be cute if at one point donnie opens up to her while feeling vulnerable idk

also donnie denies him and iya having any chemistry until at one point in battle, iya defends him against a larger yokai creature while he was caught off guard, showing her braver, tougher side (which she rarely shows bc she’s so nice). and then immediately afterwards, the flip is switched back and she’s like oh my gosh are you okay?? and he’s like,,,, huh.

and they have a lil romance growing.

uhhh when the triceratons finally come to earth, they start to attack the planet while looking for her, and the epf try to fight back.

donnie, when he sees the triceratons attack, feels heartbroken and betrayed and assumes that that was what iya wanted and snaps at her. she denies it but insists that they have to stop the epf from attacking or there will be more casualties. but donnie’s like,, if we stop the epf the earth will be less protected. iya just growls and runs away, and tries to reveal herself to the triceratons.

the triceratons see her and stop their forces but the epf recognizes her as their prisoner and shoots her, which only enrages the triceratons, and they proclaim a war, which is what bishop wanted.

also donnie witnesses it and blames himself. (and his brothers do too rip)

also hi i like angst lol

so iya is rushed to the triceraton medic and donnie tries to sneak into the triceraton ship to make things right but is caught and made bait for the epf, even tho the epf could not care less about him

yes i’m trying to make a 2003 reference.

donatello suffers by electrocution for a bit, and the overstimulation makes him unable to summon his magic abilities, until he’s finally able to call for his backup weapons and they free him.

he retreats to a vent or something to finally catch his breath, and then somehow finds the medic bay and reunites with iya and apologizes to her.

and then i haven’t thought this far ahead 💀
