Crystal Carapace
Tumblr media
Crystal Carapace is an Aura Enchantment card from March of the Machine. It costs one Green and three generic to cast and goes on a creature. The enchanted creature gets a plus three boost to power, a plus three boost to toughness, and ward for two generic. Ward is an ability that automatically counters a spell an opponent controls targeting something unless the ward cost is paid. Crystal Carapace also has cycling for two generic, so you can pay two of any color and discard Crystal Carapace from your hand to draw a card. The flavor text is a quote from the compleated planeswalker Lukka, reading "Why won't you die, wretched flesh-beast?"
Yes, yes, I'm back with another protection spell. No one is surprised, least of all me. I just happen to enjoy protection magic.
I started building this spell on May 1st, deciding immediately that I was going to use crystals for it. I pulled out my correspondence binder and started flipping through, marking down every stone associated with protection and strength. My "final" list was amethyst, blue calcite, howlite, hemimorphite, and jasper.
I went back and forth on the format - since this is an Enchantment, aka a long-lasting spell, I wanted the spellcasting method to reflect that. My initial thought was a spell bag, as I have a lot of bags. But I had just finished building a spell jar, and I wanted an alternative. So I turned to other mages I know to discuss other forms of long-lasting spells.
Today, I settled on an enchanted bracelet. I pulled out my box of crystal beads and examined my options. None of the stones I wanted, other than jasper, were available to me immediately in stone form. I revisited my list of options and my binder and settled instead on bloodstone, hematite, howlite, and malachite.
Then I did some research. I knew that this card took place on the plane of Ikoria, as that's where Lukka had been dispatched to take over, but Ikoria is dominated by triomes which are dominated by particular monsters which are dominated by an apex monster. Anyway, I came to the conclusion that this was in the Zagoth triome, which is the Black-Green-Blue (though primarily Green) land of Beasts ruled by Brokkos the Forever-Beast, Apex of Forever. Since this is a monoGreen card featuring a loosely-defined Beast, I figured this was a safe bet. So I wrote a jaunty little activation phrase for notes.
Having figured out all this and still holding onto braincells (though I appear to have misplaced them now), I grabbed a new, loose-leaf paper to write the final spell down on. I barely remembered to add the accoutrements required to turn it into a bracelet instead of just rocks on a string. I added a "charge the thing" step and left a note to myself to remember to recharge and reactivate it as needed. Then I added my keywords in the upper corner for quick search in the filing system I have for spells in my spell binder.
I haven't yet created my own Crystal Carapace, but I wanted to share the process instead of the finished result. What do you think? Would you have adapted the card differently? How would you convey the key parts of the card?

Preparing crystals for a trip
While prepping for a trip away from home, I think about the different crystals I want to pack and may need to have a smooth trip. I always think about protection, but being able to carry conversations without snapping from being around people for over 24 hours is pretty important too. This list is just a general reference I can use to decide what to pack right before a trip. I trust my intuition and bring what feels right for what I hopefully could need.
After compiling a general list of any crystal I think I might need on a trip, I go through the categories and look for any stones that show up more than once. Usually while making these lists, and checking my references, I only refer to crystals I know I own, or that I know I have seen in shops in my area, so they aren’t too difficult for me to get ahold of.
General crystals for a trip:
Boredom; work with quartz, citrine, or spessartine
Luck; gypsum, moonstone, onyx, tier’s eye, and turquoise can tip the scales of luck to your favor
Restlessness; copper and manganoan calcite calm restlessness; ametrine and angel aura quartz promote peacefulness
Shopaholicsism; smoky quartz can ground you to recognize your basic needs and the changes to make to fulfil them
Snoring; place pyrite under your pillow
Travel worries; moonstone and turquoise calm anxieties and concerns related to journeys
Crystals for protection:
Awareness; idocrase brings danger in your surroundings to your awareness
Home protection while you’re away; heliodor will look after your belongings while you’re away; such as your family, car, pets, and home
Protection from physical violence; amber and jet to protect from physical violence
Protection from energy depletion; angel aura quartz, black obsidian, dalmatian stone, diamond, jade, kunzite, pyrite, spirit quartz, and tourmaline can protect your energies from others
Protection from negative energy/entities; jet and red jasper can help protect you from negative witchcraft; stibnite guards you from “evil spirits”; smoky quartz returns negative energy to the source
Travel protection; aquamarine protects travelers (especially on the water); moonstone, turquoise, and yellow jasper can help keep you safe on trips
Crystals for emotions:
Anger/ aggression; amethyst/ chalcedony for anger; amethyst, howlite, melanite, smoky quartz, or peridot to alleviate feelings of slight annoyance to total rage
Anxiety; aquamarine, amethyst, aventurine, citrine, and labradorite calm anxiety
Calming; hold orange calcite
Depression; garnet, gold, lapis lazuli, lepidolite, malachite, peridot, smoky quartz, or tiger’s eye
Inadequacy; rose quartz can help promote self-love, and sodalite soothes feelings of failure
Indecision; citrine, aventurine, topaz, mookaite, and amethyst can help stifle indecision
Insecurity; agate, angelite, aventurine, labradorite, and larvakite can promote feelings of security and protect your emotions
Nervous exhaustion; tourmalinated quartz releases nervous energy
Mental breakdowns; tourmaline can help ease a troubled mind, and ground you when it feels like all is falling apart
Panic attacks; when it feels like a panic attack is coming, hold a green calcite in your hands
PTSD symptoms; bowenite, garnet, yellow fluorite, gold, green fluorite, rhodochrosite, or coral can help alleviate symptoms of PTSD
PMS; chrysocolla, jade, kunzite, moonstone, and ruby can help soothe PMS symptoms
Crystals for controlling your energies:
Compulsive Behavior; chalcedony, lepidolite, or kunzite
Excess energy; hold fluorite, or orange calcite (wear for long term relief)
Lack of emotional stamina; okenite can keep one going when reaching exhaustion
Physical endurance; carry or wear halite, magnetite, malachite, meteorite, or sodalite
Sex drive; selenite to decrease, smokey quartz or black calcite to increase
Social skills; danburite and sardonyx can help while interacting with others
Crystals for sickness while away:
Air sickness; play with hematite + turquoise in your hands to increase touch contact
Bladder issues; wear amber, jade, or jasper to help with infections or incontinence
Appetite; carnelian to increase, apatite to decrease
Common cold; carry or wear carnelian, fluorite, jet, or topaz; green moss agate can help symptoms
Cramps; carry or wear aventurine, hematite, dalmatian jasper, lepidolite, or lodestone
Headache/migraines;  hold amethyst to the painful areas; the darker the purple, the better
Insomnia; hold malachite, larvakite, or muscovite starting an hour before you want to sleep, then continue holding in bed; carry or wear amethyst, lapis lazuli, or sodalite in the evening to aid
Knee injury; hold apache tear or smoky quartz to the knee
Toothache; carry or wear amethyst, aquamarine, fluorite, howlite, or malachite to the skin near painful teeth
Smoky quartz is listed to help with over shopping, returning negative energy to its source, alleviating anger, and soothing depression. It is also a stone I know I have wire wrapped, ready to be thrown on a chain, so it’s likely I’m going to bring smoky quartz on this trip. Smoky quartz also helps alleviate knee pain, and it’s most likely I’ll be out in the cold doing physical activity, so I’d like to prepare for that.
Citrine is another stone listed more than a few times. It helps reign in boredom, calm your anxiety, and assist with indecision. So far, none of the properties have overlapped too much, and I have a pretty solid start for what I want to bring with me.
Amethyst gets mentioned a lot, being a stone that can help soothe anger and aggression, calm anxieties, aid indecision, as well as relieve migraines/headaches, insomnia, and toothaches. Should my other methods of getting me to sleep not work while I’m gone, I’m hoping some amethyst will.
Tourmaline seems like an important one for me, specifically to help ground me during any meltdowns, and protect my energies from those around me that may have much more drive and energy than I do.
Sodalite is probably the last crystal I would recall rewriting while compiling this list. It is said to help with soothing feelings of failure or inadequacy, nighttime insomnia, and physical endurance. Something else I can use to help soothe me when insecure, or unable to sleep, as well as push me to keep moving with the rest of the group.
It’s also important to have a crystal like selenite to charge and cleanse your crystals while away from home. Keeping their energies as clear as possible will help them work most efficiently for you. It is also important to tell your crystals what to do. I like to whisper to them before putting them in my pocket/bag/pouch.

Crystals: A Masterlist of Purposes, Correspondences & How To Use Them
@3nd0fr3gss
⚠️BEFORE I GET INTO THE POST, IT IS WORTH NOTING THAT THIS LIST IS NOT FINISHED⚠️
Crystals starting with “A”
Agate (Banded): is a stone of stability & balance. It can be used for protection, and aids in subtle healing. It is known for being related to the root chakra, and is good for grounding. It can inspire hope, change, and a spiritual connection within oneself. Do not cleanse with salt or sunlight. Moonlight, sound, and smoke cleansing work best with this crystal.
Amazonite: is a soothing stone. It calms the brain and nervous system and aids in maintaining optimum health. Balances the masculine and feminine energies. This stone can help you to see a problem or situation from different perspectives as well as your own. Do not cleanse with water or salt. Any other cleansing methods are fine to use.
Amethyst: is a natural tranquilizer, it relieves stress and strain, soothes irritability, balances mood swings, dispels anger, rage, fear and anxiety. The stone alleviates sadness and grief, and dissolves negativity. It can help activate spiritual awareness, open intuition, and enhance psychic abilities. Do not cleanse in sunlight or by burying it. However, any other methods of cleansing are fine.
Aquamarine: is a stone of courage. Its calming energies reduce stress and quiet the mind. This stone has an affinity with sensitive people, as it can invoke tolerance of others and help to overcome judgmentalism. This gives support to those overwhelmed by responsibility.
Crystals starting with “B”
Bloodstone: is an excellent blood cleanser and a powerful healing stone. It heightens intuition and increases creativity. This is a grounding and protecting stone, as it draws off negative environmental energy. This helps to overcome influences such as geopathic or electromagnetic stress.
Crystals starting with “C”
Carnelian: is a stabilizing stone. This stone can help to restore vitality, passion, creativity, and joy as well as to create stimulating energy in a healthy way. It gives courage, promotes creative energies by giving them an extra boost, and encourages positive changes. It can help motivate physical and mental/emotional changes in one's life. This stone is useful for helping to overcome the trauma following any kind of abuse. Do not cleanse with salt, sunlight, or water. Any other method of cleansing is fine to use.
Citrine: promotes motivation, activates creativity and encourages self-expression. This member of the quartz family can be energising and recharging. The stone also can help to reverse degenerative disease and help balance chemical imbalances in the body. Possibly beneficial in the treatment of diabetes, it can also stimulate digestion, and the functions of the spleen and pancreas.
Crystals starting with “G”
Garnet: is a balancing stone which brings serenity and passion, and can inspire new love & balance. Considered to be a stone of luck, it can be used to bring success in love, wealth, business, and creating change in oneself.
Goldstone (Red): is a motivating stone. Although manmade, this stone is good for a confidence boost, as well as promoting lighter energy. This type of Goldstone is used to aid in creating vitality into one’s life. Do not cleanse with water or salt. Any other methods of cleansing are fine.
Crystals starting with “H”
Hematite: is said to restore energy to crystals as well as help them to boost the other crystals’ effects. Contrary to popular belief, however, this stone will not break because of “bad energy” or plain negativity. Hematite is a metal (which is magnetic), and is very soft. It will break due to poor care for the stone, not due to unpleasant emotions. Do not cleanse with water, salt, or by burying the stone. Most other ways of cleansing are fine, but with sunlight cleansing, it will heat up fast, and can burn the next person to touch it when taken out of sunlight. For this reason, moonlight cleansing (under a full or new moon) is better for this stone.
Howlite: is a calming stone and aids in relaxation. Known for helping to reduce angry emotions in oneself, it can calm negative emotions aimed towards the stone’s owner as well. This stone is also good for reducing anxiety. Finally, it is also known for helping to reduce the effects of insomnia. Do not cleanse with salt, water, or by burying it. Instead, use sunlight or moonlight to avoid any possible damage done to the crystal.
Crystals starting with “J”
Jasper (Red): said to increase emotional stamina, self confidence, self-trust, emotional protection, courage, balance, calm and relaxation- this specific form of jasper can also be used for increasing memory of dreams and also increasing sexual vibrancy. Do not cleanse in salt/salt water. Any other cleansing methods are fine to use.
Jet: is said to help draw out negative energy and lower the effects of unreasonable fears. This stone- known to promote control over one’s emotions, thoughts, and actions; can also be used as a general stone to align the chakras.
Crystals starting with “K”
Kyanite (Blue): is known for helping to align certain chakras, such as the throat, third eye, and crown chakras. It provides the balance of Yin & Yang by allowing the dark to flow with the light instead of against it. Its calming properties are good for bringing tranquility & peace, as well as mental clarity. Do not cleanse with salt, water, sunlight, or by burying it. A preferred method of cleansing this stone is sound, smoke, or moonlight.
Crystals Starting with “L”
Labradorite: is the stone of transformation. This crystal is commonly known for pushing changes, whether this be in energy, habits, or just an appearance. This stone is very helpful for giving some extra strength to its user throughout the day if/when carried. It protects the aura, cleanses spaces of negativity, and transforms “bad” energy into more positive feelings. Do not cleanse this stone with water, salt, sunlight, or by burying it. It is best to be cleansed with moonlight or sound.
Lapis Lazuli: is used to aid in speaking the truth, as it is associated with the throat chakra. This stone inspires confidence, as well as helps to fight against anxiety & depression. It is known for its properties such as: purification, mental clarity, promoting positive energy, and helping to have the motivation to create something new, as well as helping to relieve some symptoms of insomnia. Do not cleanse this stone with water, salt, or by burying it. Instead, cleanse this with moonlight (from the new or full moon), smoke, or sound.
Crystals starting with “M”
Malachite: is the essence of joy, and is known as the "stone of transformation" because it helps reveal and heal emotional pain by absorbing the pain into itself. It is especially helpful in bringing ease during times of change and gives the insight needed for personal growth. Brings you to your highest energy level gently and is best used with a grounding stone. Do not cleanse in water or salt, but rather with noise or moonlight.
Moonstone: is a stone for “new beginnings”. This is a stone of inner growth and strength. It helps to soothe emotional instability and stress, as well as to stabilize the emotions, which then provides calmness & tranquility. It enhances intuition, promotes inspiration, success and good fortune in love and business matters.
Crystals starting with “O”
Obsidian (Black): as a strongly protective stone, it forms a shield against negativity. It blocks psychic attack and absorbs negative energies from the environment. This type of obsidian draws out mental stress and tension. It stimulates growth on all levels, urging exploration of the unknown and opening new horizons. Do not put it in salt/salt water or bury it in soil, but you can cleanse any other way.
Opal: is known as the seductive stone. It can intensify emotional states of any kind, as well as release hidden emotions. Wearing this stone is said to bring about loyalty and faithfulness. It has been said to be extremely beneficial in many physical realms as well, such as in treating infections and fevers.
Crystals starting with “Q”
Quartz (Aura): as crystals of spiritual elevation, this stone is remarkable for its powers of guidance and expansion to the soul. It provides serenity and peace during meditation, helping to deepen one’s attunement to the divine, as well as opens gateways to the angelic realm. It assists in remembering lessons from past incarnations and expands the awareness of one’s spiritual purpose for this lifetime. This member of the quartz family is highly protective during spiritual journeying, and can be an effective aid for conscious channeling & all types of inter-dimensional communications.
Quartz (Clear): known as the "master healer" and will amplify energy and thought, as well as the effect of other crystals. It absorbs, stores, releases and regulates energy. It harmonises all the chakras and aligns the subtle bodies.

It's believed by some to emit strong vibrations of love, which are thought to support emotional relationships as well as to help heal and inspire compassion. Good for self love, friendship, family, and love. Do not cleanse in sunlight, but any other method is fine.
Quartz (Smoky): in addition to the generic healing properties of Quartz, Smokey Quartz is an excellent grounding stone. Smokey Quartz disperses fear, lifts depression and negativity. It brings emotional calmness, relieving stress and anxiety. The stone can also promote positive thoughts and actions, as well as alleviate suicidal tendencies. Do not cleanse in sunlight or by burying it. Any other cleansing methods are fine.
Quartz (Unicorn): this stone, made of Clear Quartz bonded with Gold and Titanium, produces vivid multi-colored metallic crystals. This type of Aura Quartz activates all the energy centers in the body, clearing a path for the Life Force to manifest throughout the subtle bodies, bringing in a vibrant energy and zest for life. Do not cleanse with sunlight or salt, but any other way is fine.
Crystals starting with “S”
Selenite: is said to be a powerful healing crystal that has the capability to self-cleanse. This stone promotes peace, calm energy, mental clarity, purification, and health. It is believed that this stone can remove negative energies and help connect its user to a higher realm. Cleansing is not needed with this stone, but if you choose to cleanse it anyways, do not cleanse with water, salt, sunlight, or by burying it.
Sodalite: as it is linked to the throat chakra, this stone helps the vocal cords and larynx. This then helps with hoarseness and digestive disorders. It can cool fevers, lower blood pressure, and stimulate the absorption of body fluids. This stone can help to prevent insomnia, as well as help to lower anxiety.
Sunstone: is linked to luck and good fortune. It clears and energises all the chakras. This stone instills good nature, helps to heighten the intuition, and allows the real form of self to shine through the body happily. It dissipates fearfulness, alleviates stress and increases vitality.

It stimulates taking action, and helps you to make decisions with discernment and understanding, and unclouded by your emotions. Do not cleanse in salt or water (or by burying it in soil), but any other way of cleansing is fine.
Tourmaline (Black): as a member of the Tourmaline family, it is a protective stone which repels and blocks negative energies and psychic attacks. It also aids in the removal of negative energies within a person or a space. The stone will cleanse, purify, and transform dense energy into a lighter vibration.

Gemstones & their meanings: 40 stones for magick and meditation
Tumblr media
Looking for stones for your magickal toolkit? Here’s a crash course in 40 of the most commonly available crystals and gemstones. Working with crystals can improve your personal energy, amp up your spellwork, and help you create the life you desire. This handy guide will help choose the right crystals for you, whatever your goals might be.
After you’ve read these crystal meanings, I encourage you to spend some time gazing at and handling your crystals. Crystals are a hands-on, eyes-on, heart-on hobby. One of the best ways to study them is to visit with them. It sounds kooky, I know—but many stones will tell you all about themselves if you take the time to listen.
Collecting crystals is a blissful and transformative experience. Here at Grove and Grotto, our own crystal work has undeniably changed our lives for the better. But I never recommend crystal magick as a substitute for medical care. If you’re seriously ill or distressed, get qualified help before rock shopping, mmmmkay?
Here they are, in alphabetical order, 40 magickal stones and their metaphysical uses:
Tumblr media
Amazonite
Sea-green Amazonite carries all sorts of positive meanings: Serenity, creativity, and brave self-expression. It is one of the best talismans for artists and performers. It clears self-doubt and inspires love of beauty. Amazonite is found in a pale celadon hue (see picture) in Brazil, China, and Africa. The bright turquoise variety is a new discovery and comes from Madagascar.
Amethyst
One of the most magickal stones on Earth, Amethyst is a favorite of witches, healers, shamans and seers. Purple is a color that is seldom found in nature, and Amethyst has an exquisite vibration to match its rare hue. Amethyst is great for meditation and for managing the emotions. It calms anxiety and balances fear and excess. Amethyst gently stimulates dreams and visions, inspiring you to become your highest self. There are countless colors and shapes of Amethyst, each with slightly different properties.
Angelite
A lovely stone with a lovely name, Angelite is formed by the compression of Celestite over millions of years. (Yes, it is actually condensed heaven!) Angelite is soothing and uplifting. It is a popular choice among Angelic healers, channelers, and lightworkers. Angelite can assist in making contact with ancient guides and smoothing the way toward higher states of awareness. Don’t get Angelite wet—it didn’t wait all these millennia just to turn into calcite in your jacuzzi, thanks.
Apatite
Apatite is a semi-precious gem that can be found in a wide range of colors, most often green or blue. Apatite is a stone of confidence, truth, and creativity. It is used by energy workers to help balance overactive energy centers and stimulate underactive ones. Apatite is a wonderful crystal for working with the Third Eye and Throat Chakras.  It helps awaken and develop gifts of clairvoyance, telepathy, and lucid dreaming. Apatite brings mental clarity and improved communication. It makes it easier to speak to others with authenticity and directness.
Black Onyx
Black Onyx is a glossy dark gemstone that evokes the deep and restful properties of Earth.  It is a stabilizing, balancing stone said to assist with mastery of the body's energy. Black Onyx can strengthen determination and willpower, and help bring wisdom in difficult circumstances.
Black Tourmaline
One of the premier protective stones, Black Tourmaline has long been used as a shield against evil spirits and negative energy. A Root Chakra stone, it helps in grounding and releasing stress and emotional baggage. (It is especially useful for empaths.)  Black Tourmaline is also considered a lucky stone—rub a piece of Black Tourmaline when you need a little extra boost of luck!
Blue Aventurine
Blue Aventurine is a naturally colored Quartz crystal. Sometimes called "Blue Quartz" it gets its color and shimmer from tiny inclusions of other minerals. It combines the energy-boosting properties of Quartz with the soothing quality of the color blue. In crystal magick, Blue Aventurine is used for stress relief and healing of the heart and mind. It gently enhances communication and stimulates creativity.
Blue Calcite
Blue Calcite is a calming, relaxing stone with an especially high vibration. It is used in rituals of healing and purification, or carried as an amulet to relieve pain and anxiety. Blue Calcite corresponds to the element of Water and the Throat Chakra. It gently amplifies energy and assists in recalling dreams and astral travel. Calcite is also found in yellow, green, orange, and pink varieties—but Blue Calcite is certainly the most beautiful.
Blue Goldstone
Blue Goldstone (or Blue Sandstone) is a dark blue, almost purple stone with tiny sparkles throughout. It is formed by adding copper salts to molten glass using a unique cooling process. This synthetic gem was reputedly accidentally created by Italian monks practicing alchemy, hence the name Goldstone. Despite its laboratory origins, Blue Goldstone is a very popular choice for mystical items. A piece of Blue Goldstone looks just like a midnight sky full of stars! It is an inspiring stone that encourages confidence and courage, and places one’s dreams within reach.
Carnelian
Carnelian is a red-orange, semiprecious stone that has been prized since ancient times for its captivating color. Its bold energy brings a rush of warmth and joy that lingers, stimulating courage and desire. Carnelian resonates with the Sacral Chakra, and is traditionally worn to inspire love and passion. Carnelian may be solid orange or have red and white bands—the banded variety is sometimes called Red Agate.
Citrine
Citrine is a member of the Quartz family of minerals. Golden and sparkling like a drop of sunlight, Citrine is said to bring the solar qualities of warmth and happiness to the wearer. Because Citrine resonates with the Solar Plexus Chakra, it stimulates vitality, willpower, and personal strength. Citrine is said to be one of the only crystals that cannot hold negativity, and experience bears this out. Try to charge a piece of Citrine with crappy vibes sometime and see how long you can keep a frown on your face. Quite a lot of the Citrine on the market is heat-treated Amethyst—the two are chemically similar and are sometimes found together in a stone called Ametrine.
Clear Quartz
Clear Quartz is possibly the most versatile and magickal of all gemstones. Clear Quartz amplifies energy and thought, acting as a powerful aid to psychic perception. It balances and revitalizes the subtle bodies and brings all the chakras into harmony. Clear Quartz makes an excellent “memory stone” because of its ability to absorb, store, and release energy. It may be used in combination with any other stones, enhancing their effects. Clear Quartz is often used in crystal grids to direct and amplify the energy of the other stones. Special designations like Record Keeper Quartz, Lemurian Quartz, and Phantom Quartz are sometimes used. They may refer either to the shape of the crystal or the patterns of inclusions found within.
Dalmatian Stone
Dalmatian Stone (sometimes called Dalmatian Jasper) is a beige stone with black spots like a puppy dog. You might think, then, that this stone is related to the doggy world--and you would be right. Dalmatian stone is used to cultivate loyalty and enhance family bonds. An earthy stone, it helps ground and connect you to the here and now. Some people use Dalmatian Stone to boost communication with canine familiars.
Fluorite
Fluorite is a highly structured crystal that may be clear, green, purple, blue, yellow or a mix of these colors.  Green Fluorite is the most common. It has a fresh, clean vibe that matches its spring-green color. Fluorite offers an organized, high spiritual vibration to any person, place, or object it touches. It helps to disperse chaotic or stagnant energy. Fluorite may be used to cleanse and balance the aura, boost mental acuity, and protect the bearer on the physical and psychic levels. Green Fluorite resonates with the Heart chakra and promotes feelings of abundance and well-being.  This unearthly stone also helps interdimensional communication, especially with Nature Spirits and Fae folk.
Garnet
Garnet is a stone of love, strength, glory, and devotion. Garnet has been prized since at least Egyptian times, when it was known as the "Blood of Isis." Dark red in color, Garnet is considered to be Root Chakra stone with a protective vibration. Use in crystal grids and charms for psychic shielding. Garnet is said to help balance the energy system and encourage love and loyalty.
Green Aventurine
Green Aventurine is a quartz-based stone colored by mineral inclusions. It is one of the best all-around crystals for prosperity, happiness, and well-being. The name comes from the Italian word for chance, and carrying the stone is supposed to protect a person from bad luck. Aventurine is linked to the Heart Chakra. It promotes creativity, contentedness, and feelings of abundance.
Hematite
Hematite, a natural form of iron, is a strongly grounding and protective gemstone. The ancients noted it for its resemblance to blood, and the name means “blood stone.” Hematite is common in protective amulets because of its mirror-like quality—it is said to deflect any negativity deflected at the wearer. (Some also use Hematite mirrors for scrying.) Synthetic Hematite (known as Hematine or Hemalyke) is often carved into shapes for jewelry. Just about every teenager loves Hematite, and that’s probably no coincidence. It is excellent stone for anyone experiencing mental or emotional strain.
Howlite
Howlite is a white stone with wispy veins of grey. (Howlite is frequently dyed to make imitation Turquoise which is how most people first encounter the stone.) This humble mineral is useful for calming an overactive or troubled mind. It aids in dispelling fear, resentment, anxiety, and anger and replaces them with gentle self-awareness. It is known as a stone of wisdom and compromise. Working with Howlite can help you learn to communicate difficult issues without causes offense. Some also use Howlite as a sleeping aid.
Labradorite
Labradorite is a variety of feldspar known for its iridescent optical effects, or “now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t” flashes of color. Usually green-grey, the stone has spectral shades of blue, green, and copper. In crystal lore, Labradorite brings deep spiritual insight and connection with the other realms. It stimulates mental and intuitive gifts and acts upon the entire energy body. Labradorite is also associated with Faery trickery and portal magick. High-grade Labradorite is sometimes marketed as Spectrolite.
Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli is a deep blue semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its rare color. It often includes tiny specks of gold-colored pyrite, which make it shimmer like a sky full of stars. Lapis Lazuli is regarded as a stone of harmony and truth. Its deep, celestial blue remains the symbol of royalty and honor, gods and power, spirit and vision. Lapis Lazuli resonates with the Third Eye chakra, expanding psychic awareness and stimulating attunement to higher wisdom.
Lepidolite
A variety of Mica, Lepidolite is a lilac-grey stone with a subtle shimmer. In crystal healing, Lepidolite is a stone of serenity. It contains the element Lithium, a natural mood enhancer. Lepidolite is said to relieve stress, assist with healing and balancing, and gently encourage spiritual growth.
Mahogany Obsidian
Mahogany Obsidian is a little-known version of the popular volcanic stone.  It gets its brick-red color from the inclusion of small amounts of iron oxide. Originating within the depths of the Earth, Mahogany Obsidian resonates with the Root Chakra. It supports integrity and courage, even under difficult circumstances. Use Mahogany Obsidian for protection magick, ancestor work, and underworld journeying.
Malachite
One of the most prized ornamental stones, Malachite is characterized by its green bands and whorls in a variety of patterns. Malachite has a long list of positive effects for the crystal user: Boosting personal energy, stimulating creativity, blocking negative emotions, and transmuting trauma into wisdom. Malachite is an ore of copper, the metal of Venus. As a Venus stone, Malachite guides you to appreciate the beauty of the natural world and engage deeply with its pleasures. Malachite is also associated with wealth—both material possessions and the spiritual wealth that comes with experiences of love.
Moonstone
Found in soft shades of white, pink, and bone, Moonstone is soothing to look and to hold. Moonstone is connected to the magic of the Moon, and is traditionally used as an amulet for travelers, a token of love, and a symbol of mysticism. Moonstone is said to comfort and soften the heart while it stimulates the psychic mind. Rainbow Moonstone, with its iridescent flashes, is especially prized as a stone of Lunar magick.
Moss Agate
Moss Agate, also known as Tree Agate or Dendritic Agate, is a semi-opaque stone with swirls of white and green that look like moss. All Agates are respected as healing and protective stones, but Moss Agate is a special favorite of green Witches. It is especially attractive to nature spirits and can assist you with making a deeper connection to the Earth.
Prehnite
Prehnite is a yellow-green stone that may be translucent or opaque. It often contains needles of black Rutile. One of the best stones for healers and wisdom-seekers, Prehnite helps you confront tough realities with patience and grace. It helps to heal the heart, removing old hurts and blockages from the energetic body. It has the power to “heal the healer” and is a valuable amulet for empaths. Prehnite supports magickal learning at a safe and sustainable pace. It unlocks gifts of empathy and clairsentience. Some users report that it aids in past-life recall.
Pyrite
Pyrite is a cubic mineral often called “fool’s gold” —but only a fool would neglect its magickal uses. Pyrite’s mirror-like surfaces are said to deflect negativity and ill luck when carried as a charm. Its name comes from the Greek word for “fire” —like flint, Pyrite-bearing stones can make sparks when struck together. A mineral of the Sun, Pyrite is associated with all the Apollonian qualities: Logic, success, clarity, confidence, and vitality. Pyrite’s resemblance to gold nuggets makes it an obvious choice for money-drawing magick.
Red Goldstone
Red Goldstone (or Red Sandstone) is a red-orange gem with tiny golden sparkles throughout. It is formed by adding copper salts to molten glass using a unique cooling process. It is a Root/Sacral chakra stone that encourages creativity, confidence, and drive.
Red Jasper
Red Jasper is a strongly protective and healing stone. Historically, Red Jasper has been a talisman of warriors and a token of strength. The red color comes from deposits of iron oxide. This iron resonates with the Root Chakra and with the blood, and aids a person with grounding to the stabilizing energies of the earth. Red Jasper promotes vibrancy, endurance, and stability.
Rhodonite
Rhodonite is a pink gemstone with veins of black Manganese creating a marbled look. All mixed stones are thought to aid in reconciling and balancing opposing energies. Rhodonite is a particularly powerful healing stone for relationships. It encourages clear communication, emotional stability, and releasing of fear from the heart.
Rose Quartz
The sweetheart of the crystal world, Rose Quartz is known as the stone of unconditional love. Rose Quartz emits a calm, peaceful energy. It soothes the heart and helps one to overcome past suffering. Wear an amulet of Rose Quartz to learn to become more loving and more able to accept love from others. Rose Quartz is commonly used in love-drawing spells and charms.
Ruby Fuchsite
Ruby Fuchsite is two minerals in one—precious red Ruby and soft green Fuchsite. It is a popular mineral for healing wands and massage stones. A heart-centered stone, Ruby Fuchsite encourages personal transformation, compassion, and trust in others. Ruby Fuchsite is an excellent emotional healer. It helps with self-integration and balancing the messages of the intellect and intuition. Ruby Fuchsite instills a sense of peace and protects the user from negative emotions brought on by the words and actions of others.
Selenite
Selenite is a variety of gypsum, a mineral related to Quartz.  It is known as the stone of clarity, and is renowned by crystal lovers for its high vibrational frequency and peaceful energy. Selenite resonates with the Crown chakra, helping to connect the use with higher wisdom and intuition.  It gently opens all the chakras, preparing the etheric body for energy work.  It is an excellent choice for meditation, healing work, and spiritual discovery. Selenite is quite soft—softer than most of the other crystals on this list—so don’t soak it in water or let it knock around with your other stones.
Serpentine
With its spotted green and black appearance, Serpentine is named for its resemblance to snakeskin. Sometimes called “New Jade,” Serpentine is found in various patterns in deposits around the world. It was known to the ancients, who used it as a talisman against snakebites and poisons. Serpentine is one of the most psychically active Earth stones, and some specimens contain deposits of Magnetite (natural magnetic stone). Serpentine encourages the unlocking of magickal secrets and observation of the spiritual planes. It is an excellent complement to wisdom-seeking and shamanic practices. Partner with Serpentine for rites of initiation, deep meditation, and working with kundalini energy. Because its powerful energy can be disruptive, Serpentine is often paired with balancing and grounding crystals.
Sodalite
Beautiful, swirly Sodalite is mainly blue with deposits of White Calcite mixed in. It is related to the stone Lapis Lazuli. Sodalite is an excellent stone for promoting mental clarity and self-expression. Because Sodalite’s blue hue resonates with the Throat Chakra, it is said to aid communication. Sodalite helps dispel anger, helping the user handle difficult situations with grace. It may stimulate latent psychic and creative abilities.
Snowflake Obsidian
Snowflake Obsidian is a type of natural volcanic glass, created when grey crystals form in rapidly cooling black lava. Obsidian has long been considered an especially magickal stone. It is strongly protective and cleansing. Use Obsidian to banish negative energy, and to delve deeply into inner truths. Obsidian is a gemstone but not, precisely speaking, a crystal—the molecular structure is amorphous rather than crystalline.
Sunstone
As its name hints, Sunstone is bursting with gentle solar energy. It brings warmth and radiance to meditative or magickal practice. It is a stone of leadership and personal power, as well as abundance and generosity. Sunstone combines the fiery power of the Sun with the grounding Earth energies, making it an excellent stone for manifesting your desires. Use Sunstone to strengthen your resolve, boost charisma, banish doubts, and inject fresh positive energy into any project or relationship. Most consider Sunstone to be a Sacral Chakra stone, but it can also awaken and soothe the Solar Plexus and Heart Chakras.
Tiger’ Eye
Tiger’s Eye is a natural Quartz-based stone that comes in gold, red, and blue varieties. Gold Tiger’s Eye corresponds to the Solar Plexus Chakra. Tiger’s Eye combines the brilliant energy of the sun with the grounding properties of earth and stone.  Using Tiger’s Eye is said to improve focus, will, and personal power.  Just like the fierce animal that is its namesake, Tiger’s Eye inspires courage and grace—and the ability to act decisively without illusion.
Unakite
This unique stone was first discovered in the Unakas mountains of North Carolina.  It is a granite-like stone with mottled green and pink patterns. Its other name, Epidote, means "growing together" in Greek. In crystal healing, Unakite is used to draw off negative energy from the Heart Chakra. It is said to encourage confidence and healthy balance, and to aid in resolving personal differences.

I love the poly babies, pls guys talk about your weapons! But don't let Ruby hear it ... She .. yeah.. Ruby ... (sent by anon)
Parsley, in her mid- to late-twenties, standing in the living room of her own home, a fussy baby rocking in her arms: Shhhhh, shhhh, I know our love, I know. Daddy will be back soon, don't you worry. I miss him too.
Parsley, glancing up, then back down to the child: Our weapons have always remained the same, two knuckle dusters. Brass and Bronze. They've served us well all these years, and they continue to serve.
Parsley, with a quick tap on her scroll as it starts ringing: Hey, are you nearly done? I'm tired of babysitting.
Parsley, on the other end of the phone line: I know, I'm sorry. The mission got a bit...complicated. If it's getting too much you can always call Tarra, or Moms.
Parsley, the one in the home, sighing: No no, I've got it. Just hurry up for the love of it all.
~~~~~
Clove, in her late-teens, tumbling across rocky ground with a heavy thump, coughing in pain as she strains to push herself up: D-...Damn it...Almost...
Clove, surprisingly catching a staff thrown directly at her with ease, then uses it to pull herself up to her feet, her breathing heavy with exhaustion: I'm not...done yet...
Clove, slamming the staff down onto the ground twice, the top of it shifting into a spear point: Today's the day I win. I promise.
Sun, casually cracking his knuckles at the challenge with a wide smile: Well then, prove it.
Clove, charging towards Sun with her polearm, shouting: I WILL!
~~~~~
Basil, standing on a stage with his arms crossed, a stern look on his face: ...
Glynda, speaking out to a whole team of four opposing him: Are you four ready for this? Standard match rules apply. The victor is decided when aura reaches the minimum allowed amount. Any more strikes after that will be met with disciplinary action. Ready? Go!
Basil, slowly stretching out his arms, flexing his razor-sharp clawed fingers, a smile spreading across his lips that reveal feline-esque teeth, speaking with almost an animalistic growl: Bring it.
~~~~~
Ash, leaning over onto a desk within a normal looking dorm room, her voice a playful purr: Oh, Doctor, I just feel so baaad. I think I'm in need of an...examination.
Tarra, sitting in said desk with a few open textbooks and notes, trying to hold back on laughing: Ash Howlite I swear I'm going to fight you.
Ash, with a giggle: Suuuure, you and what army. But hey! When's Willow getting back?
Tarra, flipping a page in one of the textbooks: she has a lab on fridays, babe you should know that. She'll be back in like...two hours.
Ash, with a smile as she clasps her hands onto Tarra's cheeks, pulling her attention away from her studies: Oh hush, you know that the only thing I won't forget is that I'm dating the two prettiest, smartest girls in the world! And hey...that means we have two hours to ourselves...wink wink.
Tarra, sternly, but still with a hint of laughter: I. Am. Studying.
~~~~~
Thyme, sitting at the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean, a large sword with a clock face built into the. Ase of the blade stabbed into the earth behind them: So, where to next?
Magnolia, sitting beside them, shrugging: Perhaps we should visit home, see the family. Maybe even tell them the news.
Thyme, chuckling a bit as they stand up, grabbing the sword from the earth: Yeah. Yeah we should. Heh, it's just sort of funny, isn't it? In other timelines they've gone to our weddings as friends and allies...but now they're finally going to be what they should be, mothers.
Magnolia, nodding, a small smile on her face as she takes Thyme's hand to stand: I'm looking forward to it. Before we do that though, you might want to turn around.
Thyme, their face growing confused, turning around: Turn around? What do you-
Thyme, face to face with an incredibly large ursa, which lets out an rib-shaking roar, muttering reluctantly to themself as they pull the sword up to a combative stance: Oh you've gotta be fuckin kidding me...

Things to know when buying rocks
I recently got a job in a crystal, gem, and jewelry store. I couldnt be happier.
About 90% of citrine is actually heat treated amethyst. Citrine, amethyst, and prasiolite (aka green amethyst) are actually the same stone, but their color is determined by the temperature at which they are formed. Amethyst is incredibly common and therefore inexpensive (unless it’s a super deep blue purple color), and can be heat treated in a kiln to turn into citrine or prasiolite. How to tell? So amethyst often has a white base. Natural citrine does not. Also, natural citrine is usually a paler color. It’s also significantly more expensive.
Opalite is man-made. Although, sometimes it is sold as moonstone. Opalite looks like iridescent milk. Moonstone almost always has lines or cracks or black inclusions and is usually opaque (unless cut into small gems).
Goldstone, blue goldstone, and green goldstone are man-made. I do love them though. They look like glass filled with glitter, though it’s actually small bits of metal (copper, cobalt, or chromium). They have a really cool history too. About 97% of turquoise is enhanced in some way. Turquoise usually only occurs in thin veins, and when it is a larger piece, it is brittle. Therefore it is usually either stabilished with epoxy, reconstituted by gluing a bunch of little bits together, or enhanced in a mineral bath. Also, many places will try and sell dyed howlite or magnesite as turquoise. If it is labelled turquenite, it’s howlite. If it’s inexpensive, it’s howlite.
Malachite and lapus lazuli can be enhanced. Beautiful kelly green malachite and ultramarine lapis can be quite pricey. So some are dyed or treated in some way to enhance their color. If the price is too good to be true, it’s probably dyed. If there are no white or gray bits in your lapis, be wary. Also, synthetic malachite is all over etsy and ebay. Now, if you are familiar with malachite, spotting a fake is obvious. But if not, you may be swindled.
Aqua aura quartz, angel aura quartz, rainbow aura quartz, mystic quartz, mystic topaz, and others while the crystals are real, they do not naturally occur that way. They are blasted with precious metals (in a process I’ll admit I don’t completely understand). They are super pretty. Quartz can naturally be iridescent, but the iridescence will appear inside amongst minor cracks or planes within the crystal. The iridescence of aura quartz are on the surface.
Speaking of quartz, some people like to dye it. Cherry or strawberry quartz are dyed. That color can naturally occur, but it us rare and quite expensive. Tanzanite quartz is dyed. Blue quartz is dyed. Many times (with the exception of rose quartz), colors of quartz are not throughout the entire crystal.
Speaking of dying. Agate can naturally occur in many colors. Jade can naturally occur in many colors. Most of the time they’re dyed. Freshwater pearls are also almost always dyed. Although, they can naturally occur in all kinds of wild and crazy colors, anything too off of white is incredibly uncommon.
Aquamarine and emerald are almost always semi opaque and quite pale in color (except for the most expensive specimens. Aquamarine can be irradiated to get a deep blue color (it can, but rarely naturally comes this way). And side note, sunlight can lighten aquamarine.
Ruby usually has a pink or purplish undertone. If you see a gem that is a true red, it’s probably a garnet.
But not all odd or bright colors are fake. Bumble bee jasper is naturally macaroni and cheese yellow. It gets it color from sulphur. Uvarovite is naturally crayola crayon green. It gets its color from chromium (as do most green gems). Cobaltoan Calcite is naturally a bright magenta. Charoite is naturally royal purple. Serpentine can be an electric lime green. Blue lace agate and blue chalcedony are naturally a soft powder blue. So yeah, weird colors can exist.
However, just because a color exists doesn’t mean it is cheap. For example, 95% of tourmaline is black. You can get really nice specimens if black tourmaline for pretty cheap. If you want a color, prepare to pay (and for the specimen to be itty bitty).
Bismuth crystals are pretty much always grown in a lab. Bismuth does occur naturally, but rarely in crystal form. It's usally as a trace mineral, a thin vein of metal, or dissolved in water. But, fun fact, you can also make your own bismuth crystals with just a few things you can easily find on the internet.
Real amber, rubies, and sapphires glow under uv light. Although the intensity will vary. Green and pale yellow ambers will look almost radioactive while orange, red, and dark ambers will have just a slight glowing haze. Rubies will become vibrant. And Sapphires only have a slight glow.
There are alot of synthetic opals. From more than three feet away, they may look like real opals. But up close they, just, no. Sometimes they just look like glitter in resin. Just, try to familiarize yourself with real opals.
Also, be wary of cheap moldavite. I have yet to see a synthetic to compare, but I know they exist. Technically, even real moldavite is glass, but it was made 14.7 years ago by a meterorite impact. I wish I had a tip for you to differentiate fake and real.
I get asked alot if certain gems are glass. Well, here’s the thing. Gem quality glass does exist (see above with goldstone and opalite), but… it’s often not cheap to make. Plain glass is boring and brittle. Gem quality glass therefore needs additives for durability and color and for varying qualities. Think about Swarovski crystals. They are gem quality glass and are pretty expensive. Cranberry glass gets its bright red color from gold! And there is such a thing as amethyst glass, but amethyst is so abundant, and amethyst glass is so expensive to produce that it’s actually cheaper to use the actual gemstone!
And lastly, alexandrite is incredibly rare. It is one of the rarest minerals on earth. You will probably never see it in your lifetime. And when you do… oh boy, the price! Hopefully you like zeros. But we get asked for it every day. Sorry June babies.
I hope this knowledge helps you find some cool rocks. And I hope there is a special place in hell for people who blatantly lie to you.

Crystals and Stones!
One of my favourite parts about witchcraft is the crystals; there are so many different colours, shapes and meanings to each one. My personal favourite, one I’ve been drawn to, is rose quartz; the crystal of unconditional love. All the info I’ve gotten about crytals, including the graph I’ll include at the bottom are taken directly from: https://www.groveandgrotto.com/blogs/articles/gemstones-and-their-meanings
As per the list they have there, this is only a sort of Masterpost of 40 different types of crystals and their uses.
Amazonite: Serenity, creativity and self-expression. Clears self-doubt and is good for performers and artists.
Amethyst: One of the most powerful crystals. Amethyst is great for meditation and for managing the emotions. It calms anxiety and balances fear and excess. Amethyst gently stimulates dreams and visions, inspiring you to become your highest self. There are countless colors and shapes of Amethyst, each with slightly different properties.
Angelite: Formed by millions of years being compressed. Pre-compression, it is celestite. Soothing and uplifting. Can assist in communicating with ancient spirits. Do Not Submerge Into Water!!
Apatite: Apatite is a semi-precious gem that can be found in a wide range of colors, most often green or blue.
Black Onyx: Black Onyx is a glossy dark gemstone that evokes the deep and restful properties of Earth.  It is a stabilizing, balancing stone said to assist with mastery of the body's energy. Black Onyx can strengthen determination and willpower, and help bring wisdom in difficult circumstances.
Black Tourmaline:One of the premier protective stones, Black Tourmaline has long been used as a shield against evil spirits and negative energy. A Root Chakra stone, it helps in grounding and releasing stress and emotional baggage. (It is especially useful for empaths.) Black Tourmaline is also considered a lucky stone—rub a piece of Black Tourmaline when you need a little extra boost of luck!
Blue Aventurine: Blue Aventurine is a naturally colored Quartz crystal.
Blue Calcite: Blue Calcite is a calming, relaxing stone with an especially high vibration.
Blue Goldstone: Blue Goldstone (or Blue Sandstone) is a dark blue, almost purple stone with tiny sparkles throughout.
Carnelian:Carnelian is a red-orange, semiprecious stone that has been prized since ancient times for its captivating color.
Citrine:Citrine is a member of the Quartz family of minerals.
Clear Quartz:Clear Quartz is possibly the most versatile and magickal of all gemstones.
Dalmatian Stone:Dalmatian Stone (sometimes called Dalmatian Jasper) is a beige stone with black spots like a puppy dog.
Fluorite:Fluorite is a highly structured crystal that may be clear, green, purple, blue, yellow or a mix of these colors.
Garnet:Garnet is a stone of love, strength, glory, and devotion.
Green Aventurine: Green Aventurine is a quartz-based stone colored by mineral inclusions.
Hematite: Hematite, a natural form of iron, is a strongly grounding and protective gemstone.
Howlite: Howlite is a white stone with wispy veins of grey.
Labradorite: Labradorite is a variety of feldspar known for its iridescent optical effects, or “now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t” flashes of color.
Lapis Lazuli: Lapis Lazuli is a deep blue semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its rare color.
Lepidolite: A variety of Mica, Lepidolite is a lilac-grey stone with a subtle shimmer. In crystal healing, Lepidolite is a stone of serenity. It contains the element Lithium, a natural mood enhancer. Lepidolite is said to relieve stress, assist with healing and balancing, and gently encourage spiritual growth.
Mahogany Obsidian: Mahogany Obsidian is a little-known version of the popular volcanic stone.
Malachite:One of the most prized ornamental stones, Malachite is characterized by its green bands and whorls in a variety of patterns.
Moonstone: Found in soft shades of white, pink, and bone, Moonstone is soothing to look and to hold.
Moss Agate: Moss Agate, also known as Tree Agate or Dendritic Agate, is a semi-opaque stone with swirls of white and green that look like moss. All Agates are respected as healing and protective stones, but Moss Agate is a special favorite of green Witches. It is especially attractive to nature spirits and can assist you with making a deeper connection to the Earth.
Prehnite:Prehnite is a yellow-green stone that may be translucent or opaque.
Pyrite: Pyrite is a cubic mineral often called “fool’s gold” —but only a fool would neglect its magickal uses.
Red Goldstone: Red Goldstone (or Red Sandstone) is a red-orange gem with tiny golden  sparkles throughout. It is formed by adding copper salts to molten glass using a unique cooling process. It is a Root/Sacral chakra stone that encourages creativity, confidence, and drive.
Red Jasper: Red Jasper is a strongly protective and healing stone.
Rhodonite: Rhodonite is a pink gemstone with veins of black Manganese creating a marbled look. All mixed stones are thought to aid in reconciling and balancing opposing energies. Rhodonite is a particularly powerful healing stone for relationships. It encourages clear communication, emotional stability, and releasing of fear from the heart.
Rose Quartz: The sweetheart of the crystal world, Rose Quartz is known as the stone of unconditional love. Rose Quartz emits a calm, peaceful energy. It soothes the heart and helps one to overcome past suffering. Wear an amulet of Rose Quartz to learn to become more loving and more able to accept love from others. Rose Quartz is commonly used in love-drawing spells and charms.
Ruby Fuchsite: Ruby Fuchsite is two minerals in one—precious red Ruby and soft green Fuchsite.
Selenite: Selenite is a variety of gypsum, a mineral related to Quartz.
Serpentine:With its spotted green and black appearance, Serpentine is named for its resemblance to snakeskin.
Sodalite: Beautiful, swirly Sodalite is mainly blue with deposits of White Calcite mixed in.
Snowflake Obsidian: Snowflake Obsidian is a type of natural volcanic glass, created when grey crystals form in rapidly cooling black lava.
Sunstone: As its name hints, Sunstone is bursting with gentle solar energy.
Tiger’ Eye: Tiger’s Eye is a natural Quartz-based stone that comes in gold, red, and blue varieties.
Unakite: This unique stone was first discovered in the Unakas mountains of North Carolina.

In the future, I’ll most likely make posts more in depth about each individual stone, but for now, this will do.

4/4 Once I’m protected🤺, I want to calm my nervous system🥶. I like my golden healer 🌞 or labradorite or amethyst for this. Howlite, aura quartz & scolecite are very soothing too. 😩 Panic attacks or mounting anxiety, can also be caused by physical discomforts especially in a time like this. If I’m nauseous🤢, I pair citrine with hematite & place them on my solar & sacral chakra. If I’m experiencing physical pain like a migraine 🤯, I grab lapis lazuli or malachite. Chrysocolla is good for this as well. 🌕 For anything related to the female reproductive system I grab 🌈 rainbow moonstone or Chrysocolla 🌍 & place on my abdomen, wear on my wrist, or hold in my left hand. 🤢 If I’m feeling like I might be fighting off a virus🦠 I will keep fluorite & my golden healer close. Amethyst or selenite are other great options. Sometimes, I need to nurture my heart 💜 chakra. For this I highly recommend 🌹 rose quartz.
Just about every crystal I’ve read about is great for anxiety. I don’t always reach for the same ones, sometimes I’m called to a different one. Prehnite for example is excellent for empaths. Lepidolite is wonderful for insomnia. The list goes on. Check in with your body. What is it saying? What crystal resonates? When you hold it do you feel a little better? 🛑 You must understand crystals are not a substitute for a doctor’s care. I utilize them as comfort care aids in conjunction with my providers treatment plan. 🛑 What are some of your “go-to” crystals? How do you utilize them, & what do you use them for?

GEMSONA REDESIGNS AND NEW ADDITIONS
I decided to give all of my gemsonas updates, as well as draw new ones that I have been wanted to do for a long time.
In order from left to right, top to bottom. Warning, long post:
Onyx - An off-colored Onyx gemstone given a chance by Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond to become something great. In time he became the greatest scientist Homeworld has ever seen. He is kind, compassionate, patient and intelligent, but can be nervous and unsure of himself due to his off-colored nature. He is currently in a relationship with @coffeedraws’ Rhodochrosite. His ability is being able to stretch and flex his body without strain. His gem is in the middle of his upper torso.
Tanzine Aura Quartz - Or simply called Tanzine. She is an immensely popular gem fashion designer on Homeworld, creating such dazzling designs for the elites. She is very sociable, upbeat and dramatic, but knows personal boundaries and respect for other gems. Her ability is to control non-sentient crystals and use them as projectiles or shields. Her gem is on her chest.
Prehnite - A cosmic dust collector, he collects space dust and star particles for research. While a master at his work, he tends to rely on old ways to research and analyze cosmic dust. He can be very sweet and adorable, but do not insult his work, his friends or his height, or else face his temper. He has no eyes, but his gem helps him see, although he can really see only green. He is currently in a relationship with @shinydoduo’s Hiddenite. His weapons are laser chakrams. His gem is on the back of his head.
Taaffeite - An assassin for Blue Diamond, she is tasked with taking out rogue gems and troublesome space diplomats from other planets. She is very shy and quiet, but when she comes to like someone’s company she gets clingy. She cannot speak, but she can project her words into other gems minds so they can hear her. Her weapon is a crystal ball that fires lasers. Her gem is in the middle of her back.
Lake Superior Agate - Or just Agate. He’s a mysterious gem who believes he is a Crystal Gem, but has a bad case of amnesia. He’s a sweet, bubbly and friendly gem, but gets serious when the situation calls for it. His weapons are explosive bouncy balls. His gem is located on his belly.
Almandine - The perfect of her kind, tall, powerful and fierce, but deep down is a gentle giant. Her duties are to attack and protect, whenever the situation calls for it. She knows it’s her role, but deep down she does it because she really cares for her fellow gems. Her weapon is a gladius, and she has the power to give weapons fire enhancements. Her gem is located on her chest.
Benitoite - An office gem tasked with keeping records of information and history. She is very young and naive, always upbeat and sometimes oblivious to things around her. She always tries her hardest though, even when things are tough. She has no weapons, but can summon a pen from her gem. Her gem is located on her left hand.
Red Phantom Quartz - A gem formed in Era 2 for combat purposes, but due to the lack of resources he could not form completely and was given a full body enhancer to compensate for it. He feels ashamed that he needs the body suit, and always feels he has to push himself to prove his worth, even though he’s done so countless times. His ability is to create and manipulate fire. His gemstone is on the chest of his full body suit.
Orthoclase - Once a normal warrior gem, he’s now become a cannibalistic psychopath who eats his own kind. During the War for Earth, he was captured and tortured by some rebellious gems who were a little too extreme, this caused him to lose his mind and devour them all. When Homeworld gems found him, he was detained and locked in a full body lock prison, only let out when they need him for dirty work. His weapon is a sharp tongue which can cut through most solid objects. His gem is under his chin.
Medi-Pearl - Medical nurse pearls that were used mainly during the War for Earth. They were designed to be sympathetic and caring, and they have the ability to heal cracks in gems, but it’s not always a clean job. Now they are used very little, mostly for healing gems on the colonies. Their gems are always on their left chest, and their gems fire a healing beam.
Moissanite - In my AU, I created high gems called “Governesses”, gems who stand in as acting Diamond while the real diamonds are away or too busy. While they are able to give authority, they cannot disobey the direct orders from the Diamonds. They are also able to walk and talk among other gems instead of being high above them. Moissanite is the Governess of White Diamond, which is why she looks like her. She is very alluring and manipulative, always wanting to find gems she saw as perfect for Homeworld society. She saw Onyx as a gateway to whole new possibilities and manipulated him to do what she saw as best for Homeworld. Her gem is located on her upper chest.
Howlite - The leader of the Science Division on Homeworld before Onyx took over. He’s very old, grumpy and strict on the scientists, but he only wants to make sure Homeworld has the best tech and research his division has to offer. His ability is a stasis beam to freeze other gems. His gem is located on his forehead.
Grey Pearl - She is Howlite’s pearl. Unlike most pearls, she is very emotionless and monotone, very unfazed by any anger, sadness or happiness thrown upon her, making her and Howlite’s relationship comedic in ways. She has no abilities nor weapons. Her gem is located on her forehead.
Goshenite - A scientist on Homeworld, the star scientist before Onyx entered the picture. He is very intelligent, handsome and sociable, making him very popular on Homeworld. He can seem suave and charming, but deep down he’s egotistical and malicious. He is extremely jealous of Onyx when he starts displaying greater intelligence than him, and winning the heart of the gem he most desires; Rhodochrosite. His weapon is a laser sword. His gem is located on his left eyes.
White Agate - A diplomatic gem that oversees gem production and discipline. She’s very cold, harsh and rude to lesser gems, yet she shows nothing but praise to higher ups. She was in charge of overseeing Onyx’s emergence from his hole, but when he did not meet expectations she was furious and ordered his shattering. But when Onyx started to surpass expectations and become something great, she started to brown-nose to him, saying what an achievement he was, like an annoying hypocrite. Her weapon is a shocking spear, and her gem is on her chest. Let me know in the comments which gem is your favorite of the bunch, I’d love to know. ^ u ^

💎 9 CRYSTALS TO BRING WITH YOU WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELING 💎
Do you have a strong wonderlust? Do you love to travel? If you’re like me, you love adventures and exploring, but have anxiety when it comes to airports and flying. I’m Canadian, and my fiance of nearly 4 years lives in the United States, so naturally I needed to make sacrifices for him. Thankfully, I have a few crystals that have helped tremendously when it comes to traveling. Here are a list of crystals to bring with you whether you are traveling via plane, train, boat or car.
1. Amethyst
Tumblr media
Amethyst is a very popular crystal, a traditional and ancient protection stone as it is known for repelling negative energy and its use in divination. If you tend to feel nervous and unsafe while you are traveling, whether it’s because of social anxiety regarding all the people you run into, or potential for things to go wrong at the airport, bringing amethyst along with you will help to ease all those worries. It’s a good crystal to bring with you if you need something to protect you from the evil eye, to release positivity, and ensure to bring you good luck while traveling. Amethyst is also a natural stress reliever to settle your anxiety and uplift your mood. So needless to say, this is a great crystal to have in your pocket/carry-on/luggage while traveling, as overall it provides safety in all forms of travel, and even protects you from thieves.
2. Malachite
Tumblr media
If the thought of boarding a plane and flying always made you a bit queasy or nervous, holding Malachite in your palms, meditating and breathing deeply will help soothe your nerves. Malachite is believed to be the guardian stone for travelers, since its eye-like pattern holds the energy of protection from all kinds of accidents and physical danger. There's even an ancient legend that says malachite shatters or crumbles when danger is near, so if your stone is in one piece during your flight, then that means you're gucci, fam! Furthermore, if you suffer from jet lag or vertigo, this crystal will definitely be your ally. Malachite is effective for people who travel by plane, but it is also great for those traveling upon crowded highways and freeways. Keep this crystal close if you need a great travel companion, that also helps absorbs negative energy and pollutants, and ease stomach cramps due to stress.
3. Moonstone
Tumblr media
This crystal has a reputation for being protective when it comes to people who love to travel, especially to those traveling over water. Moonstone is believed to bring good fortune and grant wishes to those who wear it or carry a piece on their body. If ever along your journey, you begin feeling homesick, look at your crystal; the spectrum of light within the moonstone will lift your moon, kind of similar to whenever we see a rainbow. Always add a moonstone or any jewelry containing the crystal to your luggage so it doesn't get lost! It also has a reputation to be beneficial for protection during nighttime travel. I don’t know about you guys but jet lag is something that doesn’t exactly resonate with me. I went to Paris when I was 18, and instead of going to explore the city, I just wanted to sleep and I wish I had brought a moonstone with me at the time, because moonstones are very effective when it comes to jet lag and helps you keep a good sleep schedule.
4. Aquamarine
Tumblr media
Both modern spirituality and legends prove that Aquamarine is the best stone for travels over water/on water. In the past, old seamen would always carry Aquamarine to ensure safe travel and to protect themselves from drowning. It even helps with sea sickness. We’ve all watched Titanic, and can probably all agree that no one would wanna be in that situation. Do not fear, my child! Aquamarine assists in easing anxiety and stress caused by boat travel, and helps with phobias related to water.  It is a traditional talisman of good luck, fearlessness and protection. This crystal is the ultimate perfect companion since it guards travelers (that means you!) whether you are sailing, flying or driving long distances (especially over bridges).
5. Labradorite
Tumblr media
Labradorite is the stone of destiny. This crystal is all about aligning you with synchronized events that line up in your favor. You will find that suddenly “coincidences” begin to happen, and the universe opens up to you, as if a magical energy surrounds your trip, making it feel like everything’s going perfectly/just the way you planned it. Labradorite’s rainbow hues awaken the intuitive side of you, helping you meet helpful people along your journey and build harmonious relationships with them. Never forget to add a Labradorite stone in your pocket, purse, luggage or carry-on on your travel adventure.
6. Black Tourmaline
Tumblr media
While being an all-around protection stone, black tourmaline is especially helpful in protecting its wearer/bearer from all the stray and crazy energy other travelers bring to the scene. Stuck with a person sitting next to you on the plane that is just draining your energy? Black Tourmaline will be your best friend, darling. Black Tourmaline also promotes safe travel. It is one of the strongest protection crystals of the mineral kingdom. It works as a psychic shield dispelling negative energies. This stone can transform and remove negativity from other people or the environment. This stone is also very helpful in releasing fears. Some even believe that black tourmaline even helps protect the wearer from airport x-ray machine, so make sure you put one of these bad boys in your luggage for an enjoyable trip.
7. Tiger Eye
Tumblr media
Tiger Eye is a very grounding crystal, and it promotes patience, which is perfect for long trips. It is incredibly stabilizing and grounding and provides great protection during travel. It sharpens the senses and perception, helping with awareness in unfamiliar places or circumstances. This crystal also raises feelings of security and self-respect and also provides a defense against the negative intentions of others. It enhances self-confidence, integrity, willpower, personal power and promotes patience. Helps you feel at home no matter where you are in the world. Also known to bring good luck and add vitality and optimism, so yeah...Definitely a great crystal to bring with you on your next trip!
8. Rhodonite
Tumblr media
If you are going on a romantic get-away with your significant other, Rhodonite is the crystal for you! Being the stone of emotional balance, it’s believed to nurture love for yourself and your partner when you’re on a trip together. It holds a healing energy allowing you to see both sides of a situation, which can be very helpful to prevent arguing and bickering while traveling. Place a piece of Rhodonite on your bedside table at the hotel or on the dresser in the room you are staying in. Rhodonite is the ideal stone for those entering foreign surroundings, because it helps you to see how your actions are perceived by locals. Make deeper connections with people as you travel, and protect yourself its energy. Keep this stone close for a reminder to always love yourself and others you care for.
9. Shungite
Tumblr media
Similar to Black Tourmaline, Shungite is one of the best stones to use in order to neutralize electromagnetic energy from the airport’s x-ray machine or security scanner. This black, carbon-filled stone absorbs and neutralizes the energy so that it doesn’t attach to your aura and energy field. It’s one of the strongest crystals for keeping your root Chakra balanced while dashing through the airport and exploring a new environment. Wear a piece of Shungite, or keep a few in your pocket or luggage, to create an extra shield of protection around you. Shungite is the crystal you want in the airport, when you know that you’re going to have to go through security and be surrounded by everyone’s tech devices.
Note: Other crystals can also be great when traveling, such as Clear Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Yellow Jasper, Pyrite, Howlite, Selenite, Celestite, Hematite, etc. Any crystal that you bring with you will have a purpose, whether it’s to bring good luck, ease anxiety, protect from accidents, lift your mood, settle your stomach whenever you have nausea due to sea sickness, car sickness, air sickness, protect you from thieves, delays, and more...These are the crystals that I found helped me the most during my travels. I hope you like my list! ♡ Let me know if they work for you!  P.S.: For those who are wondering, I always keep my crystals in my carry-on when I take the plane, even those who are slightly pointy, and it never raised any suspicions or gave me any problems at all, so you should be safe!

Astral Planes
This is an extensive beginner’s lesson to the astral planes. It explains what they are, where they are, and how to get there. Advanced lessons will come later.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me an ask or, if you wish to have a conversation or to feel more personal, you can send me a private message.
Tumblr media

—–What?—–
The astral planes are different realms outside of the mundane physical world. A plane is a realm of existence, a world. The exact definition varies between practitioners, however, I use a broad and practical definition of the astral in that it contains all planes outside of the physical plane. This includes heaven(s), hell(s), faery dimensions, the mental plane, the dreamscape, even an astral replica of our physical world (the real-time zone), and much more. Our spirits are metaphysical and spells function through the astral planes.
—–Where?—–
This is a complicated section, and it is not expected of you to fully understand the location of astral planes on first-read. Thus, practices are provided. The location of astral planes is unlike anything in the mundane, but it is key to the functionality of the astral and understanding what the astral actually is.
Collectively, the astral works as another dimension. You are familiar with the three dimensions of the physical world, up and down, left and right, and forward and back. The astral planes can be seen as an addition to this. Three-dimensionally, these planes may overlap with the physical, yet they differ in location by realms of existence comparable to layers on photoshop or pages in a journal.
Some astral planes will vary slightly or largely in “vibrations” (defined/explained in the next paragraph), which is in part due to the proximity of these planes. Heaven(s) and hell(s), for example, are significantly distant from each other, as their vibrations are polar. Heaven(s) have high vibrations, while hell(s) have low vibrations.
If you are unfamiliar with “vibrations”, these are the sensations given off by different energy, which I will further explain by using attunement as an example in the following paragraph. Attunement is the act of directly changing vibrations.  Attunement is not the same thing as astral travel. Different vibrations exist on a single plane. The overall vibrational level of an astral plane determines its location. By using attunement, a practitioner is not necessarily traveling between astral planes, if anything, it can be compared to origami, with the paper as the astral plane.
To help understand, vibrational levels are changed when practitioners attune themselves to the energy of crystals. They will hold a crystal in hand and adjust their mind and spirit to match the energy of the crystal. This energy will be in the form of feelings, emotions. When vibrations are said to be raised, this refers to the full body sensation received when speaking in a high-pitched voice or when happy. When vibrations are said to be lowered, this refers to the sensations received when speaking in a low voice or when sad. The “vibrations” are not the emotions themselves, but the sensations. These vibrations, sensations, can be changed directly through attunement.
Vibrations are the “up and down” of the astral dimension, while astral planes are realms of existence. “Vibrations” determine the location of an astral plane.
Practice
These practices should help you better understand how location works in terms of astral planes if needed.
1. Practice attunement as I explained with crystals. Instead of crystals, you can also attune to different areas, like a school or your home, which each have their own unique energies, as well. Meditate in these areas and adjust your mind and spirit to match their energy. I recommend attunement so that you are able to better understand “vibrations”, which allow you to spatially interact with the astral dimension.
2. Practice aura viewing. Without astral projecting, this psychic ability will allow you to see astral realms closely tied to the physical. You will be able to see your spirit. Recognize these metaphysical worlds as separate but connected to the physical world.
—–How—–
Your soul is already in an astral plane, as it is metaphysical. But in order to fully immerse oneself in the astral so they may travel, a practitioner typically uses astral projection. This can be done by a number of methods, however, the following preparation can be done before each of these.
First off, you will want to be in a comfortable position. You will be in this position for a while, and you’ll want to avoid getting distracted during your work. It is recommended you do this with closed eyes. Commonly, practitioners will be lying down, however, some people choose to sit.
You are able to feel the location of your different body parts without looking at them. Focus on this. Meditate and become aware of your body. Shift your awareness around, focus more on your hands or your feet. Move your awareness up and down your arm. Become familiar with it.
Take the time to feel and energize this awareness. Differentiate between what is your awareness and what is your physical body. Look at them as separate and distinct bodies. Become comfortable with this, and clearly understand and feel the difference before moving on to the next step.
The next step would be one of the following from the list below of astral projection methods. This list is not exhaustive but covers some common ground. Do not follow along by moving any physical body parts during this. Small movements and twitches are okay.
The Rope Technique: Visualize a strong, sturdy rope above you. Feel the awareness of your arms, and visualize yourself moving your arms. Lift up your arms, reach for the rope, and pull yourself up. When your feet are hanging, you are free from your body. Move as you please. The farther away from your body, the less tension you will feel and the easier it will be to move.
The Ladder Technique: This method is essentially the same as the rope technique, but with a ladder, instead. This is an alternative to the rope because some beginner projectors have difficulty with the idea of pulling themselves up when it comes to arm strength. Arm strength does not actually affect the capability to use the technique, but it is the lack of faith and confidence that does. Instead, climb up a ladder.
The Hammock: Imagine yourself rocking left to right like a ship on water or a cradle. Gradually increase the intensity of the movements. At a high point, roll off to break the cycle. Stabilize yourself if needed, and you are free to move.
The Sinking Method: Imagine your body sinking downward, past your physical body. When your two bodies are completely separate, slowly move your arms, then your legs, and walk away.
A commonly asked question is “How can I tell it worked?” or “How do I know I’m in the astral?”. My next astral lesson is over something called the real-time zone. In this astral plane, you can check yourself by walking around and noting what you find. When you get back into your body, you can walk over to what you found and see if it matches up with what you saw in the astral. I once found a candle misplaced while I was in the real-time zone, so I went back to my body, went to check it out, and it was exactly where I had seen it in the astral.
A good astral journey will be very vivid. This is not always the case for all journeys, however, the stronger ones will seem very clear and feel very real. The astral from my experience is relatively surreal, but it feels real. And besides that, sometimes you just know when you were/are astral traveling.
Some people will start to be able to see and sense their surroundings during projection (clairvoyance). When you return to your body, you may feel a large energy take hold of you or even gasp. These may not happen when you travel, but if you HAVE experienced those then it’s likely to have been an astral journey.
Possible symptoms include a change in heart rate, buzzing or static (I have not personally experienced this, but have heard accounts of it), actual vibrations or buzzing feelings, and clear sounds of entities that aren’t from the physical realm (clairaudience). Also, if you truly feel your physical body and your astral body as two distinct, separate bodies during the travel, then almost certainly you have astral traveled.
Nothing works!
For some people, astral projection comes naturally, and their first time projecting only takes a few minutes. For some, it takes hours. If you are not a natural, then it will most likely take many attempts and a series of trial and error. If you haven’t successfully projected, that doesn’t mean you can’t. Once you start successfully projecting and traveling, it will all become easier.
Possibly you are looking for a physical sensation when feeling your astral body that you just won’t get from the astral. In which case, focus less on feeling your astral body to move it, and instead focus more on visualizing your movements.
Do not try and force yourself to be unaware in your physical body. To some extent, you will be aware of both your physical and astral body while projecting and traveling. If you focus too much on completely eliminating your awareness of your physical body, you will be too distracted to separate and focus on your astral body.
Make sure to drink plenty of water, meditate outside of astral projection, eat fruits and veggies, and practice energy manipulation. For some people, it helps to be slightly tired, but not so much that you’re going to fall asleep to get the right mindset for projection.
Alongside this, there are aids to astral projection. Many crystals and herbs are available, as well as spells you can perform, enchantments you can undertake, and spirits that can help (be wary with spirits).
Crystals that aid in astral projection/travel include moonstone, howlite, aqua aura quartz, labradorite, jet, opal, fluorite, tourmalated quartz, malachite, calcite, staurolite, and ametrine.
Herbs that aid in astral projection/travel include mugwort, poppy, rowan (wood), frankincense, ginger, comfrey, and jasmine.
Herbs that are medically dangerous and not recommended for beginners include mandrake, monkshood (wolf’s bane), and belladonna.
Spirits that could help you must be completely trusted. Don’t let just anyone do this for you. If you are just starting out in spirit work or witchcraft/magick and think you know what you’re doing, I wouldn’t recommend this. Someone else might say otherwise, but this is because I’m playing it safe here and don’t want to be responsible for anyone getting hurt. That being said, strong spirit companions are able to assist you. It is said, though this part I cannot verify, that this is especially true for dryads. Working with spirit companions requires other knowledge and lessons than this one.
If you have a specific problem with astral projecting and travel that you would like me to address, send me an ask and I’ll get to it as soon as possible.
