just spent the day reading the entirety of Laziness Does Not Exist by Devon Price, easy to read and understand (weird thing to point out but I've only made it halfway through one-dimensional man in two weeks because it goes so slow so it was very refreshing), it goes far beyond the usual suspects (workplace and academic productivity) into topics like emotional labor, information fatigue, and the bodily and household demands of keeping up appearances, I'd been sorta tiptoeing into some of the conclusions on my own through my own personal experience but there were a fair few gut punches/left hooks about shit I'd never even considered and expanded contexts of things I'd already been dwelling in, the intersectionality of the thing is heavily and repeatedly addressed, history is explained, my mark of a great nonfiction book is coming away with the titles of several more books and essays I genuinely want to read, very very good, planning to buy a physical copy

yes offense actually but like "uuhmm this trans headcanon doesnt make SENSE though" has always been one of just. the most inane takes in fandom ever like. assuming the person making it is someone whos otherwise an ally to trans people/not transphobic (just because with people who are transphobic that an issue thats obviously much bigger than just fandom stuff) whyy !! do you give a shit !!! like why !!! like bla bla i understand if you dont think the idea of that character being trans makes sense or you think something is canon contradicts it or you dont think its in character whatever it is you dont have to hc them as trans if you dont see them as trans you can even talk about how you think theyre cis if you want but like. its literally not hard to just not treat people who do have those trans headcanons as if theyre wrong or that their interpretation of the character is stupid/something to be mocked or act as though your superior for not reading them that way like. even if that doesnt come from a place of transphobia you will inevitably read that way to some people and regardless like. who gives a shit if someone is seeing themselves within a character/reading that character the way they want to esp in regards to a group of people with such a pitiful lack of positive representation as trans people. like get over yourself

i dont really mind being called fat at this point in my life but i do feel like a lot of skinny people think that's what fatphobia is so it doesn't seem like a big deal. its hard to explain that its in EVERY way im treated, i would just like to be treated the same. at my lowest weight people would look me in the eyes, strangers would compliment my clothes (the same style i had when i was heavier), customers would treat me nicer, people at school would talk to me. now that im not that weight anymore it really hits harder how little human decency im given, i had a taste of how thinner people are treated. when i went in to doctors offices with more vitamin deficiencies and stomach issues than i had the year before at a higher weight and i got praise. they actually listened to my concerns this time and didn't just tell me to lose weight and thats when i found out I had celiac. i had been complaining about chronic pain for 10 years and no one thought to look or do anything more than tell me to lose some weight. not only that, i had lost a very alarming amount of weight in months and my doctor told me she was proud; i had every obvious sign of an eating disorder down to weighing everything i ate and i only got compliments. not only medically and socially but romantically i got asked out twice that year and its the last time i remember being called pretty by a stranger. its the last time someone random has complimented my makeup. it really makes you feel like an alien, like you can't be loved just because you arent a size 4. :/

Hii so sorry for bothering you but, I love writing I’ve been doing it for a long time. I’d like to post on tumblr but I’m kinda new to it and don’t really know how to use it (gifs, text colors,…) so if it’s okay for you could you maybe teach me how to use it or give me some tips?

ok hmm i’m terms of gifs, there’s a button that says “GIF” whenever you’re making a post, so if you select it, it’ll give you a large selection of gifs you can add to your posts, and you can add up to 10 per post. you can also search for particular gifs you’re looking for, and if they exist, they’ll show up. however, it’s not super common anymore, at least not in engeneblr (the enhypen side of tumblr), to use gifs on posts anymore, unless they’re gif posts of gifs ppl create, which is rlly common and so much credit to them. they’re just as hardworking as us writers! also, fyi, in the GIF function, all those selections of gifs are previously made gifs by ppl on tumblr. meaning, you can actually make your own gifs if you wanted to. however, i’ve never done that before, so i can’t tell you how to do that, sorry sjsjsj ,, also, what i’ve noticed, generally, is that for fics, posts with gifs don’t tend to be as popular as ones with a banner or moodboard, if that’s what you’re using it for. so ig that can lead me to my next point…

here on tumblr, and you can see this with any of my works which you can find in my masterlist (which is basically a library writers create to keep all their works in one place) and you can find my masterlist on my pinned post at the top of my blog. and so yeah, you can look at some of my works for reference as to what a moodboard/banner looks like. and i made a survey a while ago for writers to get insight on what readers prefer (which if you want, you can later check it out, also linked on my pinned post) and readers said what often draws them to fics are the moodboard/banners at the top of the fic post.

in terms of text colours, in that same survey, many readers pointed out that the use of many text colours and fonts is often a turn off. obviously this doesn’t apply to every reader; there are many works on this site that uses lots of text colours and fonts and receive much success, but yeah this just applies to some readers. in terms of how many readers, i don’t exactly know. but ik many have said they do not prefer reading a fic with many text colours. some have also said they don’t like reading fics with the small text (the way you get that is by selecting the text you want to make small and then press the function that basically looks like this “<s>”), but again, there are many fics that have small text that receive lots and lots of recognition, but some readers have expressed that it’s v hard for them to read when done so, however, some find it more aesthetic to have the small text. personally, i don’t use the small text anymore for the actual story part of my works.

but yeah just experimenting and getting experience hands on and learning from what works and what doesn’t (whether that be from your own works or other writers’ works) is v helpful, and that was the way i learned as well. i rlly hope this helps you get started tho :) also, i obviously don’t know how experienced you are with tumblr, so i hope some of this stuff wasn’t just going over stuff you already know, and i hope this was helpful :) there was A LOT that i didn’t cover, so pls lmk what other things you would like help with, if any, like the basics of how to use tumblr, i’m not sure if that would be helpful for you? but i could find you a post on the basic algorithms and stuff if that would help. and yeah if you want me to get into anything else, pls don’t hesitate to lmk. i’m happy to help!
