One of my favorite Detective Conan episodes is probably episode 538, the second part of Kaitou KID vs the Strongest Vault, the banter between Kaito and Conan was so cute, and the fact he sent the police away to talk to Kaito was feeding my Shinkai/Kaishin obsession, nothing tops when Conan brought up Kaito how usually choses to dress as women, and instead of it being turned into some sort of pervert joke or the usual "people dont expect women to commit crimes" Kaito just said smth along the lines of "i think its cute"

I just love how hes comfortable in his skin and he doesnt mind (probably even enjoys) doing and wearing feminine things and not in a "this is getting me to my objective" but "why not" ykk

Trying (and failing) to write a fic where someone overhears Kaito say he did all that work in a heist "for him" (like the gay boy does in canon when it's a heist he made for Shinichi) and it makes the internet and his fandom go wild over KID being queer and doing his heists for another man.

Of course there are some in the fandom who do not react the best, the ones who deny that KID is queer ("he just crossdresses for the disguise and to catch police off guard!" people), or the many of his female fans who now realize their crush might be exclusively for the male persuasion and they have no chance to woo him.

When Shinichi hears the news, he gets jealous, though he doesn't want to acknowledge why. Whenever he thinks those heists have been for someone, it makes his heart ache. He always thought he and KID has something special but it turns out all those amazing tricks have been for someone else.

Kaito meanwhile has noticed that his favourite detective has been pretty low looking lately and he doesn't know why and plans to make the best heist for him. The cats out the bag after all so he's not gonna show any restraint, he's going to put the wonder back on Shinichi's face.

It's actually took me few months reading Chu Liuxiang fanfic to realize how similar he was to Kaito Kid or maybe how Kaito Kid was similar to Chu Liuxiang lol

Few reason that make me think so:

1. Both are professional thieves. But Chu Liuxiang identity as thieves is open secret compared to Kaito Kid secret identity, and the reason why nobody tried to catch him is because he was just that powerful, especially in martial arts skill land lightness kungfu.

2. Both have distinct and unique notice card that they send to other before they came to rob. Kaito kid with his grinning caricatures of Kid while Chu Liuxiang has scent of tulips on the card. Kid use riddle while CLX use poems(? Or maybe riddle too? I forgot lol)

3. Both have one of the best skill for disguise. But CLX never do crossdresser(ig?) While Kid are superb on doing disguise as man and woman.

4. They have never kill rules. While it's understandable for teenage Kaito to not kill, it's actually admirable and hard to do for CLX to never kill. But because he is protag his enemy always kill themselves in the end lol.

5. Womanizer and flirt skill maxed out. Countless woman fall under their charm, and their affinity with woman is MAX. The difference here is that CLX is true playboy, like to have at least one night stand with beautiful woman in every arcs and can't settle down. While Kid was just for fulfilling his persona as phantom thief.
