The red figure seen watching the Matoran from atop the hills and mountains of Mata Nui has been present since we first set foot on the island.
I have often seen him on the cliff above the Hall of Records in Po-Koro. I swear his armor looks shinier each time I see him, like it's slowly getting newer, somehow.
At first, some of us thought him to be one of the strange new types of Rahi that we have encountered here. Others thought that he was One of the Six Spirit Toa from the stories the Rahaga tell around the meeting-fire.
Rahaga Nokama has assured us that we would know when the Six Toa destined for our Island would arrive, and that this being was not one of them.
The Kai-Wahi Guard were never able to catch up to him. It was Kapura, of all people, who got the closest to him, but the red being still got away from him. Vakama just said Kapura had to practice more, whatever that means.
Whoever he is, he has not reappeared recently, ever since our newest Matoran, Takua, had been named my assistant and the new Chronicler.
Still, I feel as if he is here, watching us. Watching me.
...Even though I know he is not.

Every Bionicle mask-power summarised.
Hau: Everything-proof shield
Kaukau: "Hey, wanna see how long I can hold my breath underwater?"
Miru: Somewhat balanced flight powers (can't take off from a standstill; horizontal movement at least somewhat controlled by wind)
Kakama: Wheeeeeeeee!
Pakari: Kinda like the Berserk Pack from Doom
Akaku: X-ray specs
Huna: Stealth mode
Rau: Google Translate
Mahiki: Illusions, but also just full-on shapeshifting for some reason?
Komau: Hypnotism kink
Ruru: "Night vision", which canonically manifests as a torch-like beam projected from the mask's front, and gives the wearer actual night-vision, and yet more x-ray stuff
Matatu: Gmod Physgun Telekinesis Addon 2004 No Virus
Calix: Basically X-Cell from Fallout 4 but without the intelligence boost
Elda: Thing finder, for finding things
Suletu: Telepathy and also psychic torture
Sanok: Aimbot
Kadin: Very unbalanced flight powers (literally the only downside is that the user can't hover in place)
Iden: Out of body from morning to night/Dance floor packed and I'm feeling alright
Arthron: *Whale noises*
Faxon: "Hey, wanna see my animal impressions?"
Zatth: Kinda like if going "pspsps" had an equal chance of attracting a cat, a bear or a car-sized land-octopus
Garai: Gravity-y-y-y-y-y, on me/Never let me down, gent-ly damn, two Gorillaz references in one post; I'll try to use another band next time
Volitak: Same as the Huna but worse
Tryna: Wise fwom your gwave!
Jutlin: Rust-vision
Avsa: *Vampire noises*
Felnas: Messes up your abilities, but only through touch for some reason?
Mohtrek: I have no idea how I'd condense this mask's timeline-fuckery into a single se- where did all these scars come from?
Shelek: ‍
Crast: Pushes others away
Mask of Mutation: Guess.
Mask of Scavenging/Vulture: Like the Avsa, but it only works on the recently-deceased
Pehkui: Makes you tiny
Mask of Clairvoyance: The last word of this post will be "diversity"
Kualsi: Nightcrawler powers
Mask of Emulation: "Hey, wanna see my non-animal impressions?"
Mask of Growth: Makes you big
Mask of Rahi Control: Gives you all the powers of a zookeeper
Avohkii: Let there be light!
Kraahkan: Actually I changed my mind; there should darkness
Mask of Psychometry: Ever wondered where your favourite shirt came from?
Rode: Mask of Seeing Through Your Shit
Olmak: Now you're thinking with portals
Mask of Charisma: Actually functions more like brainwashing
Olisi: Isn't it weird how Bionicle's most notable use of the "mad oracle" trope is A. unreliable and B. a giant Frankenstein-man who commits body-horror on random people?
Kiril: Basically the opposite of the Jutlin
Mask of Intangibility: *Ghost noises*
Mask of Possibilities: Essentially the Improbability Drive from Madness Combat, but on a smaller scale
Mask of Elemental Energy: who cares about this one like seriously it barely appears outside the games
Mask of Adaptation: Turns you into an environment-specific action figure
Mask of Aging: The mask that makes you old
Mask of Biomechanics: Essentially the Gmod ragdoll-mover addon
Mask of Conjuring: I'm just going to copy what Biosector says, since it's really convoluted and complex; "The Mask of Conjuring is a Kanohi that allows its user to verbally program a limited power into the mask for a brief period of time. The user must describe in detail the power desired and at least one weakness. If the phrasing is spoken wrong, it causes intense psychic backlash in the user's mind. The user can use a programmed power for fifteen minutes (with a Great version), and after the time is out, the user must wait thirty seconds to activate the mask again. The Noble version will only work for five minutes. Another weakness is because it requires time and speech, any enemies nearby can hear in detail what power to expect and what its weakness is. Because of this, the usage of the mask is more commonly done alone. It is also capable of being programmed with the powers of other masks, such as the Kanohi Hau."
Mask of Freezing: What do you think it does
Mask of Fusion: Combines things • Mask of Healing: Heals stuff
Mask of Incomprehension: 👁️🧠🫵🥫🚹🇮🇹📤
Mask of Rebounding: Something something rubber glue etc.
Mask of Reconstitution: Literally just another Mask of Mutation, but slightly worse
Mask of Sensory Aptitude: 'Cause I've got one two three four five/Senses working o-ver-ti-ime!
Mask of Undeath: I live... again!
Mask of Weather Control: /weather clear 18000
Mask of Weight Increase: Literally just a Garai that can't make things lighter
Ignika: Do-anything MacGuffin that turned into a guy once and also became God's hat for a bit
Vahi: Time isn't holding up/Time isn't after us/Same as it ever was/Same as it ever was...
Mask of Creation: Just kinda lets you make stuff, while also celebrating the Matoran Universe's cultural diversity!

Dark Hunter Courser
They were built by the Great Beings as precursor to the Toa, they might be the last of there kind, the Great Beings quickly learned that Courser's species was far to dangerous to act as the protectors of the Matoran Universe. When in pursuit of a target or adversary the Toa precursors would destroy every thing in there path and were even know to kill civilians when in pursuit. Attributes not fitting protectors but make one an excellent Dark Hunter.
Courser was fond locked with in a canister stolen from a Makuta's treasury and was vary grateful for being freed and soon fond when working for the Dark Hunters their methods are not just appreciated, but encouraged. The only issue is that they want to prove that they are better and stronger then the Toa and will some times get distracted from their missions to humiliate and or kill any Toa they meet.
Powers: Courser seams to have some powers the are normally stored in Kanohi for to a per-built in, presumably the Great Beings fond this to be to much power for a Toa when building them. Courser has the powers of a great Pakari, a great Arthron, a great Sanok, a noble Kakama, a noble Ruru, and a noble Calix. A combination that suggests that they were built to be a one person army, pare that with a the healing factor that allows for the rapid regrowth of both the mechanical and organic components of their body, it remains to be seen if the mind can recover if their head is damaged. They are all so armed with a built in Electro Cannon that at close rage can burn clean through a half Bio of Protosteel in a single shot but is a short rage weapon at a 20 Bio it only leaves slight burns on the target.
Status: Active. They are a very useful resource, but if they can not get their inferiority complex with the Toa under control it will likely be used against them.

Bionicle sticker designs I've been making! Hoping to figure out how to put them up for sale soon :3
Flowers and meanings under the cut!
[Commissions open!]
First off: all flower meanings were taken from the Old Farmer's Almanac so if I'm wrong uh. Too bad :P
Tahu has tiger lilies for pride, holly for defense, and black-eyed Susans for justice.
Gali has rhododendrons for danger, bluebells for humility, and chamomile for patience in adversity.
Kopaka has amaryllis for pride, belladonna for silence, and edelweiss for courage and devotion.
Pohatu has morning glories for affection, hyacinths for play and sport, and ivy for friendship.
Lewa has larkspur for levity and an open heart, yellow lilies for happiness and walking on air, marjoram for joy.
Onua has sage for wisdom, irises for faith, trust, and valor, and gladiolus for strength and integrity.

I can't be the only one who likes to imagine the Chronicler's Company as the next Toa team, right?
Since a Matoran's ideal of a Toa influences what they look like when they become a Toa they each have a different style. Toa- Kanohi- Style- Weapons- notes Kapura -Kualsi -Hagah -Twin Pyro Daggers Macku- Kakama -Mahrii -Tidal Trident -The kakama has a water breathing device  similar to the Mahrii Hafu -Kiril -Inika -Carvers Hammer- The Hammer is a big big hammer with a head that comes off to reveal another hammer inside. The head then doubles as a backpack for his carving tools Taipu -Ruru - Metru- Terra Drill Lance Tamaru- Volitak- Mangai- Rhotuka Launcher on the side of his right arm and two Kanoka Wind Shredders (Kanoka Launchers with blades attached) as well as a Volo Lutu Launcher on his left arm/hand (basically a bionicle version of the Predator) Kopeke -Rode -Mata/Nuva - Arctic Axe

Pohatu: Toa of Stone
Tumblr media
Toa Pohatu, the courageous and easy going champion of the Po-matoran, a friendly face and sight for sore eyes, with the great Kakama kanohi mask of speed, there are few places that Pohatu cannot deliver aid too.
Also she's a girl now.

Name: Frost Beetle Owner: Tributron Type: RC Drone Usage: reconnaissance, freezing at close range Size: takes 1 cubic feet of space History: Created to look like Tributron's sentry mode(which their alt mode is the same size and mass as their humanoid form), these units are used to scout anything worth stealing without the user being present. However the range is limited and the owner can only be so far away. Continuing the lore of AU Tributron, this alt build is also a form he can convert into for additional firepower. Where both his legs merge together to form a giant ice cannon to eliminate hostiles on the ground and in the air. It is capable of scaling up walls, rocky terrain, and more. Yet thanks to the Kanohi Kakama which gets melded within this configuration, it can crawl at high speeds. Making it difficult to out maneuver. So be sure to stay on their good side or else you would get more than a cold shoulder. The Order of Mata Nui to this day still remembers the deep freeze incident.

So I found some cool lore. The Kanoka Blade,
TL;DR Kanoka blades are blades forged from Kanoka disks, in the same way Kanohi are. This means that Kanoka blades have powers, similar to masks. It applies only to the blade itself (a Shielding blade would only shield the arm instead of the whole body like a Hau does)
Now, what's interesting is the implication of this. Whatever a Kanohi is made of (I'm just going to call it Kanoka Metal) still has powers if it's not forged into a mask or disk.
Does this mean you could, like... Make boots out of Kakama Kanoka Metal and have boots that let you run fast? Or make them out of the same stuff as a Miru and you can float with them?
Remember this post because it's probably going to be relevant to other stuff I say later.

Random Bionicle Headcanon
The Kanohi masks that the Toa Mata wear always seemed a bit eclectic to me. Most of them seemed to be rather weird and seemingly incredibly situational, which gets even weirder when you consider that the Toa Mata were designed as the spec ops team
And now, suddenly, in the throes of post Factorio sleepiness, I wonder. What if the masks were originally picked by the Toa Mata not out of any practical concerns, but entirely due to their personality quirks?
Let's take a look at some potential rationales for those choices, purely from my view.
Toa Tahu, the Hau, the mask of protection. On one hand, it is the mask in Bionicle lore, the symbol of Mata Nui himself. Perhaps Toa Tahu was particularly religious back before the amnesia, and chose the mask as a sort of icon?
Alternatively, he was always a bit afraid of getting hurt, and by the time he got over that fear, the mask already became part of his fighting style.
Toa Kopaka, the Akaku, the mask of X-Ray vision. Part of me wants to say that he picked it entirely in order to always know whether there was someone in another room so that he may be able to avoid unnecessary social interactions. Another part of me wonders if he may have been interested in machinery, which would explain why his mask of choice also came with several additional lenses for better zoom. He must have been annoyed when he lost some of them after going Nuva.
Toa Gali, the Kaukau, the mask of water breathing. The potential reason for that one is rather obvious. Gali simply always loved to swim, and so picked out an incredibly situational mask just to be able to do that more and better.
Toa Pohatu, the Kakama, the mask of speed. I'd assume that the reason for that one is equally as simple. He just likes to go fast, but sucks at piloting.
Toa Onua, the Pakari, the mask of strength. That one is equally as straightforward, but from the opposite direction. He got trapped in one too many cave ins and so chose a mask that would let h get out 9f them easily.
Toa Lewa, the Miru, the mask of levitation. My first thought was that he mostly picked it out as a joke to be able to literally float away during conversations, but then discovered that it actually works.
Any other thoughts? It's always possible that the masks have also just been assigned to them, but honestly, the idea that they picked them themselves, not for combat utility but due to their personal interests, seems rather intriguing to me.

I'm currently in the process of reworking my adaptive Nuva MOCs into Inika builds for a combination of lore, parts-availability, and just-to-see-how-I-like-it reasons, and it's going alright for the most part. The limbs are take 'em or leave 'em in some places, but that's fine. In an ideal world, I'd probably opt to go with custom articulated Nuva limb parts for them all anyway, to keep them connected to their original forms and go for that unified aesthetic. Figuring out what, if anything, to do with Pohatu's hips is proving bothersome, but otherwise I'm very happy with how the torsos have turned out. They've got this lovely armour harness arrangement going on, it's lovely.
What's bothering me is their heads. More specifically, their masks. As it turns out, Inika torsos and Kanohi Nuva do not get along. The shape of the torso's shoulder-pistons just does not mesh with the shape of the masks, leaving it looking like the Toa have no necks. It's great until the masks go on, but then everyone gets uncomfortably beefy, ironically except for Onua and Pohatu. Onua is spared thanks to his unique neck connection, and Pohatu pulls it off because the Kakama Nuva just doesn't have this problem. Don't know why that is exactly, it just doesn't look nearly as squashed on there as the rest. Go figure.
So now I'm stuck with having to decide between just running with beefcake city for the other four, swapping out the masks for custom variants (at least in my imagination, where I could afford to do such a thing), or reworking the heads to give everyone longer necks, which runs the risk of looking kinda uncanny and potentially making them too tall, but it'd probably level out to something decent so idk. I like the Inika torso more than most, but those shoulder pistons are really not friendly to a distressing number of masks. If you've ever tried to give an Inika build character a Great Rau, then you know what I mean.
Stupid realistic shoulder profile turning everyone into football players...

Guess who made themselves a YouTube Channel? Welcome to the Knowledge Tower.
This is my first video and acts as an introduction to the channel. My current aim is to try to get an upload once per month, though that will depend on how much other responsibilities get in the way. I’ve already uploaded the first full video, the Speed of the Kanohi Kakama, which I will link to separately in another post.
I hope you all enjoy it.
