Cherry Magic Episode 12

MY HEART IS FO FULL. This adaptation has exceeded my wildest expectations to become one of my favorite bls of all time. They really put their backs into it and gave us everything we could want for these characters, and I will always be grateful. This show managed to be a faithful manga adaptation, a loving homage to the jbl, and a fresh take on the story all at once. An amazing feat to pull off and this creative team deserves so much love and kudos.

The way Achi and Karan have grown together over the course of this show has been fantastic to witness. I love how seriously the show took their growth, and that we got to see them put in the work to improve their communication and become a great team. Meeting the parents was a big step for them, especially because they were uncertain how their respective families would react, but I loved that they were so open with each other throughout about how they were feeling. I loved, too, that we got a contrast, with Achi's mom being so warm and loving (but still managing to get a dig in on her son, lmao) and Karan's being more avoidant and passive aggressive and needing a talking to her from her eldest child to get her shit together. I love that the drama created space for things to not go perfectly with the parents, and to show us that people can be moved to acceptance.

We got a bit of a parallel with that message in Jinta and Min's story this week, with Min's fans initially attacking Jinta, but backing off once Min named him as his faen and asked them to respect his relationship. I like the choice to model positive fan behavior, and it felt a bit pointed from this production company. Both with Pai and now with this new group of fans, the show has said consistently that being a fan should be about love and support, not control. That you can admire your idols but you also need to give them privacy. That it's not your place to judge who they love. I just love that message.

Of course, I have to talk about the mutual proposal and the wedding. I am pretty sure Karan has been carrying that ring around in his pocket since the second day of dating, but it was such a welcome surprise to see that Achi had already made his own plans, too. The show really succeeded in taking this relationship from something that felt a little one-sided to a very mutual partnership I can believe in. I teared up when right along with Karan when Achi followed Karan's proposal with his own, and you could see how much it meant to him to know that Achi is really truly on the same page. Getting to see their wedding and the love surrounding them on their special day was the cherry (lol) on top of this fantastic love story. I also absolutely loved the wink to the jbl elevator non-kiss in the way they framed their final married couple kiss and then cut away from the bed.

Continuing the love fest, I also love the changes this version made to the side couple's story. Min getting to fulfill his dream, Jinta being an excellent supportive partner, their agreement that they will marry someday when they're ready--it was all just lovely. The nod to the jbl pen proposal was cute, and I love that they took it a step further by drawing rings on each other. The flip in the sexual relationships was also quite welcome, with that triumphant arc reserved for the main couple in this version. Jinta ended the show with his magical powers still intact, but it didn't seem like that would be the case for long.

As for Rock and Pai, I am happy with how the show handled their story. To the end, Pai stayed true to herself, and Rock came to know her better and understand what kind of romantic relationship he could reasonably expect from her. She will always have her head more on her ships than on her own love life, and he seems okay with it. I think you can still take an aroace read on this Pai if you choose, and I appreciate that the show made space for that. I like, too, that Pai helped Rock reconnect with his own passion for dancing and find a fun outlet for his creativity. They were another reinforcement of this show's overarching themes about the importance of kindness, support, and clear communication in relationships.

This show left me with such a warm feeling. I'm so glad they stuck the landing, that episode 8 never happened, and that we can rewatch and remember this Cherry Magic so fondly. I never expected Thailand to go so above and beyond the original live action drama, but they have undoubtedly delivered my favorite version of this story.

Post-game sksw is a setting I've talked about quite indepth on the blog before, but for a quick recap:

Zelda and Link are dating. A lot of skyloft folks have joined in the effort to settle on the surface, but so far only Link and Zelda's house is done. Groose, his goons and Karane are working on building more + some help from other skyloft folks. Pippit cooks for them after a hard day's work and is dating Karane.

Groose was invited by Zelda and Link to live in their house, but has refused to and instead stays at the temple. He says he's looking after it with grandma being gone.

In my hcs Groose, Zelda and Link end up in a poly relationship one day 💛 However the comic isn't about romance so any romantic progression with them is unlikely to show up beyond subtext in the pages.

Legend's life post Link's Awakening is smth I'm keeping fairly vague as I feel the points that matter aren't where they may sleep at night, but where they don't. That'll be explored in the comic, but basically: He's a loner and does not really interact with folks beyond neccesity.

He has a professional relationship with princess Zelda, who sometimes tasks him with places to go do hero stuff at.

Also not sure if this counts but they do visit their Uncle's grave now and then for maintanance.

Mini loves his grandpa who also loves his grandson very much. 🙌 Grandpa struggles to keep up with Mini's intense personality and general unstoppability, but besides that things are good back home.

He spends a lot of time adventuring, guarding and investigating around Hyrule so he can keep the kingdom safe! But he also likes sneaking into the castle to hang with Zelda 😊 They're bestest of friends and get in a lot of trouble together.

In a very subtle way the comic does imply Mini marries into Royalty at some point, but I left it vague so ppl can ignore that if they wanna!

There were more than a couple of shows ending this week. And when that happens I go to my mdl page and click that box that says completed.

Sometimes it's with the feeling of "finally,it's over", and sometimes just that little action makes a bit sad. Playboyy is in the first category, I will not elaborate. I will just say a few words about the shows that this week are part of the second category.

I ticked that box twice yesterday and once just an hour ago. My heart is full, the joy is overwhelming and the bit of sadness that comes from the end of something I love has settled a bit (not really but let's pretend).

Perfect Propose was a gift. I didn't see it coming, and I was hooked from the first minute. Even with the shorter running time, Kai already occupies a special place in my heart and will join others as one of my favourite bl characters of all time. I don't think it's any secret for anyone that follows me that jbl has a special place in my heart. Maybe because it was my first, or maybe just because it's better my taste. But in 6 short episodes we got to see these characters confront their own issues and grow into themselves and each other, and still managed to have a story that incorporated workplace criticism without detracting from the love story which is super impressive. I wanted more because I could keep watching them but it felt complete.

Ossan's Love Returns was another surprise. Because I wasn't planning on watching. Mostly because I thought it wouldn't be my thing (crazy talk) and also because I would have to go back and watch everything that came before. But then, @twig-tea, as usual being the voice of reason, told me to just watch this season. And, not that they are on the same level in my heart, but this show filled a little bit of the hole left by WDYEY. It wasn't a perfect season. And I liked some characters more than others but in the end, this family had me in tears. This episode was beautiful. The speeches for Haruta got me so emotional, and then the cherry blossoms and the last fight between Maki and Kurosawa ending with the "We are family" left me with tears in my eyes that came back today as I was giffing it. It's amazing to me that this show has the success that it does and it gives me hope that we might get more stories like this. (Would also like to take a moment to thank @isaksbestpillow for subbing the episodes and giving us more cultural context so we can fully appreciate this show)

I LOVE cherry magic. All of it. I love the manga, I love the japanese version, the thai version and the anime version. Give me all of it. Forever. And so I was cautiously optimistic about this one. Optimistic because I really like Tay/New, cautious because in my brain I could only see how they could ruin one of my favourite stories. I didn't have to be. This was wonderful. I really wanna re-read the manga in its entirety because I wanna see how it compares now that it's over. Not to criticize it or be able to spot what they got wrong but to appreciate the changes they made and why it worked so well. Because the things that I noticed were really well done.

Not to repeat myself but... I LOVE Kurosawa/Karan. All the versions. I need more of him. I think from the main four, he's the one, that I notice changes more from version to version. And I love them all. I mean, Tay Tawan is a beautiful human. And his Karan had me practically swooning on a weekly basis. And I'm not a swooner. I loved New as Adachi, I think he embodied the character really well and I thoroughly enjoyed all his facial expressions. I loved this version of Minato and Tsuge more than the japanese version. I think it was more fleshed out and more balanced and obviously it was helped by the longer runtime. Even Pai and Rock had my heart by the end. It was so good.

I need more shows like the ones above and I'll be waiting for the next one that consumes me. In the mean time, I guess I'm gonna go watch some kids being awful to each other. Balance is good. 💜

Cherry Magic Anime Ep 7 Stray Thoughts

Last week, Adachi reflected on Kurosawa’s confession and finally realized that he likes Kurosawa, too. He ran across the city like his BL/yaoi brethren and confessed to Kurosawa, who has now invited Adachi out to a date. Fujisaki will be pleased. Tsuge also managed to have a proper interaction with Minato and learned his name.

I kinda like this version of the clothing part of the date. I’m excited to see what Kurosawa chooses for Adachi.

Oh, it’s really cool that the salesperson in the clothing store was thinking about how Kurosawa/Karan wanted to undress Adachi/Achi in both current shows.

Adachi, do not worry about those girls. He’s excited to be on a date with you.

You know, the helicopter being part of the source material makes a lot more sense for Karan’s choice.

This is so fascinating. So it was the Japanese live action that changed the first date to be a practice that went well. In both this adaptation and the Thai one the date doesn’t exactly go well because Adachi and Kursosawa aren’t on the same page.

Interesting! Achi convened with Jinta to get his head back in the game when he decided to tell Kurosawa how he felt about the date. Here, Adachi makes the realization that he needs to verbalize his feelings to Kurosawa.

Kurosawa being so moody that he was vibrating in a gray aura before reverting at Adachi’s presence is good anime comedy.

Adachi taking Kurosawa on a low-stakes date and sharing the things he likes with Kurosawa is the kind of content I’m here for.

Way to come through, Adachi. He’s so correct that people who are building a relationship should do activities they both enjoy together.

This definitely feels like the way Kurosawa and Adachi would go about it. Japanese shows sometimes like to do these conversations a little bit at a time across multiple scenes, whereas Thai dramas will do the conversation in one big scene. I like both approaches.

Alright, Adachi, it’s time to tell my man about your powers.

I continue to love this show, and it’s been really cool seeing where the Japanese live action diverged from the source material, and how this version and the Thai version are actually really close to each other. I like this version of Adachi and Kurosawa a lot, and I love how they feel distinct from Achi and Karan. It’s super cool that both of them are only a few beats away from each other. I think the comparison between both shows has been favorable for both. It’s actually amazing that both active version of Cherry Magic are good and don’t invite unfair or mean comparisons. I think the shows are approaching the character in ways that feel appropriate for the culture, and it’s compelling how many of the events have the same outcomes, with similar results, and yet the way the characters got there feels just different enough that the characters feel separate.

The characters diagetically are singing these popular songs for each other at a wedding celebrations - each song's lyrics weave in and apply on multiple levels, depending on who knows what and what they mean, up to and including Hrithik Roshan reprising Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai! Genuinely one of my favorite sequences I've seen period on film, if I could ever put together anything half as layered I'd be patting myself on the back forever.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... ("Through Smiles and Through Tears", dir Karan Johar, 2001)

The wealthy Raichand family splits in half when elder son Rahul falls in love with a lower-caste girl and marries her - younger son Rohit watches his beloved brother disappear to England and the light in his home wither away. When he becomes an adult, he's determined to find his brother and unite them all again. ✫ These three fuckers as a dad and two sons just make a fascinating family together, let alone the kind of heavy hitting talent you get from Jaya Bachchan (indeed married to Amitji) and of course Kajol my beloved Kajol most of all. 'It's All About Loving Your Parents' is a much much much... much harder sell than I'm prepared to give - at the very least, it's all the drama I can watch in. ✫ Standout Sequence: Bole Chudiyan above is so much fun, of course, but Say Shava Shava is also a really great 'here's how fun things are when things are GOOD' establishing song. When Amitji says 'EVERYBODY' he is not asking!!

Those four films are a truncated highlight reel of the 8 or so films I like watching around the holidays!! They work really well together and I associate them with each other a lot.

Darr ("Fear", dir Yash Chopra, 1993)

Kiran Awasthi has a freshly minted college degree, a bus ticket home, a beloved boyfriend in the Navy... and a stalker. A young woman is slowly driven mad by a ruthless specter who will stop at nothing to be by her side. As she and her boyfriend escalate... so does he. ✧ Truly breathtaking. A breakout role for SRK, another hit cementing Juhi Chawla my fucking beloved Juhi Chawla as the OG expression queen. My favorite horror film. Rahul Mehra deserves to be in Dead By Daylight so he can fight Leon in a twink off. Simply the bloodiest there is. My Halloween costume next year. ✩ Standout sequence: Any time Juhi Chawla is on screen and I'm not kidding.

Chaahat ("Desire", dir Mahesh Bhatt, 1996)

When the father of a father-and-son comedy duo gets sick, his son, Roop, would do anything to secure the money he needs to restore his father's health. So when he catches the eye of a wealthy club owner's sister, he can't say no, no matter how much her desire consumes... ✫ Diametric opposite of Darr, now Shah Rukh Khan is the target!! As a carnivore girl lover I can't not adore it. ✧ Standout sequence: Chaahat Na Hoti, pictured above. This was the frame that made me sit up and go 'oh I have to... I gotta watch this movie right now. Right now.' And I was so right.

Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani ("Yet, I Have the Heart of an Indian", dir Aziz Mirza, 2000)

Ajay Bakshi is a hotheaded, loudmouthed reporter - a rival media network hires his counterpart and superior, Ria Bannerjee, to try to take him down. ✫ A gag-a-minute comedy with more gumflaps than brains, just like our lead. Juhi is heaven in this. I can only describe this as 'I think this is what the guy from American Psycho THOUGHT was going on.' Was a flop - came out right after Kaho Na... Pyaar Hai and couldn't compete - but it hits the zany button like nothing else. ✧ Standout sequence: The inventiveness of the sets in pretty much every song is my favorite. CONTENT WARNING: There is an awful anti-Chinese gag sequence at about the middle of the film. The two leads pose as Chinese reporters to get into somewhere, and it's just wall to wall racial caricatures. I hit that ff button through it myself, a truly unpleasant marring in an otherwise goofy-ass romp.

Chak de! India ("Let's go! India", dir Shimit Amin, 2007)

Can a disgraced former field hockey star turn 16 proud, contentious players from all over the country into one unified team as their coach? Can each young woman play her all on the field - for herself and for her team? ✩ A sports anime fit into one film, I wish it were several seasons long. Each girl is spectacular and is a joy to watch!! ✫ Standout Sequence: The character work is where this one shines. Bindiya Naik is my personal favorite (and not just because the instant I saw her performance I went 'omg, she's playing my OC almost exactly. I'd cast her in a heartbeat!)

Fan (dir Maneesh Sharma, 2016)

Aryan Khanna is the King of Bollywood. Gaurav Chandna is almost him, but not quite - knows everything about him by heart, uses him as the light in his life, and Gaurav even looks just enough like him to boot. All Gaurav wants is five minutes of his time. Just five minutes... ✩ Eminem's 'Stan' as a feature length thriller that literally no one else could make. I can only quote this letterboxd review, because it's right: "even if there was another celebrity who could pull off tearing himself open to splash his own imposter syndrome onscreen, they wouldn't dare try...happy birthday to the only actor good enough to make his fans sympathize with his own stalker". I was SO upset to learn that this flopped. ✫ Standout Sequences: the practical and special effects used to differentiate SRK's two roles bar none some of the best I've experienced - uncanny valley is real here, and half of the horror is the ALMOST. but not quite.

Om Shanti Om (dir Farah Khan, 2007)

"30 years ago," irrepressible junior artist Om Prakash Makhija has only one dream grander than making it big in the film industry - to get a chance to act alongside his greatest inspiration, superstar Shanti. His wish comes true, but, well... some dreams, one lifetime is not enough... ✫ THE BEST MOVIE THAT EXISTS. THE BEST MOVIE THAT DOESN'T EXISTS. Don't believe me? Let these ladies convince you - when I learned that somehow The Coolest And Most Sparkling theater troupe on the face of the planet staged a production of this I literally got so lightheaded I couldn't see for a second. This movie came out when I was thirteen - if I had seen it then I think it would have made a huge difference. As it was, I saw it at the second most perfect time: when I was/am also a 30 year old irrepressible junior goofball, just like Om. Farah Khan is one of my favorite directors for certain. A film about the hindi film industry, I place it last also because the more faces you recognize, songs you can pick out, movie references you can catch, the better - and it's incredible even still. ✧ Standout sequence: I can't say the whole movie (... minus Deewangi Deewangi it's the Yakuza 4 of this movie) can I??? Let me just say - long story short, Farah Khan got the idea for this film when Andrew Lloyd Weber had her to choreography for his stage show, Bollywood Dreams. She thought the plot, a poor junior artist becoming a big Bollywood star, was eye-rollingly unrealistic. She could do better, she thought... and that idea eventually became Om Shanti Om. The climax is her proving she could do Phantom of the Opera better than him, too!!

Veer-Zaara (dir Yash Chopra, 2004)

An Indian pilot and the daughter of a Pakistani politician fall in love, but are wrenched apart when the pilot is imprisoned on false charges. He languishes 22 years in prison, never saying a word, until a young Pakistani lawyer is assigned his case and she is determined to see him freed... ✧ Certified Mom Movie and is an absolute banger. When I thought 'who would be a character who I could see Estelle looking forward to meeting for lunch', Rani Mukherjee's lawyer was right at the top of the list. ✫ Standout Sequence: My personal favorite, Main Yahaan Hoon, is the song linked above. It drives me Insane absolutely Insane - this depicts 'they're not in the room but they're the only thing on your mind' in a way seldom more effective!

This was a terrific exercise in tilling the soil in my brain - I'm really inspired by the all visual direction, the colors and depths, the sensibilities in general exemplified by the movies here, and hope to one day reflect it in my own work! The warm morning sun shining on him made you stare as his hair glowed in the light, but the voice of Karan made you jump. "Just go and talk to him already." Turning to see her still lying in bed, you rolled your eyes.

Yeah, just go tell him. I'm sure Dutch won't kill him." Tilly joined in, making even Mary-Beth laugh, causing you to get up and change. Walking from your side of the camp, you move to help Pearson with the coffee.

Being Dutch's kid, you didn't need to do anything, but forbid you ever acted like Molly. As much as you miss sitting around and reading, you can't stand the women.

"You need help with that." A familiar voice you dreaded hearing this morning was Hosea walking to you as you grabbed the pot being done with coffee. Not having a chance to say anything, he helped you with his warm hands as you walked over to Pearson's table.

"Thank you," You said nervously, looking up at his kind brown eyes, "I'll go find Pearson; he shouldn't leave you to do all the work." He says that, then walks away, leaving your cheek hot. You turn and smile, knowing someone is looking out for you.

Making it back to your tent, you sat, seeing no one was around, and pulled out a book you and Mary found on your trips to town a year ago, It was hidden, not wanting any of the other girls to dog on you for wanting a little romance in your lives. Reading the pages, you couldn't shake the feeling of someone watching, looking up with the same kind eyes that met yours.

Hosea smiles at you and then starts walking toward you. "What are you reading?" He asks, looking at your book while pulling up a small chair. "Oh, it's just a romance," You say, tucking the book next to you. "A romance? What is it about?" He asks, looking interested, "Just a gunslinger and a rich girl" You say embarrassed, especially when he laughs. "It seems this life never really leaves you." His words make you laugh with him.

Yeah, especially when everything you want is here." His eyebrows perked up. "If you have your eyes on someone, I can put in a good word." You go quiet at his words, then remember what the girls said this morning: "Yeah sure, but..." "But nothing comes on." chewing on your lip, finally the words come out: "It's you".

I've been posting about Gen lately in the context of her being into witchcraft for those of you who follow my page or have seen at least multiple of my posts. I want to share with you more of my observations and why I believe that the effects of her black magic are slowly but surely starting to fade. So in this post here that's an excerpt from her Bathroom Chronicles podcast Episode 11 with Peggy Rometo (self proclaimed Intuitive expert and co-host for the Bathroom Chronicles podcast). Peggy happens to be her mom's friend that was the psychic from Gen's childhood who told her about her future husband being a producer and whatnot in this same podcast. In this podcast she talks about how she got breast implants "when she was 40 years old "right around when I hit 40". Given her date of birth is January 8, 1981 and her birthday being so close to the new year, it's pretty safe to say she got her implants in 2021. Based on the timeline she gave for when she got the implants versus she got them out (I would guess around a year if not a little more after she got them despite having issues show up around 6-8 months after getting them from what she described in the podcast) and the posts mentioned below, it seems she was "feeling sexier" during this time period like she said after getting the implants. According to this People Magazine article sourcing the same podcast, it was "quite a while" before she got them out. She spoke to multiple doctors prior to having them removed. This tells me she probably had them in for over a year maybe close to 2 years before she called it quits "feeling really sexy" with the implants and getting them taken out. Don't get me started on her bullshit saying it was for her, my ass Gen it was to make yourself look "sexier" for your husband too.

I mentioned some of the cringeworthy posts that have come from her and Jared's direction, including the kissing her billboard July 2, 2023 (and was reposted on his page as a photo September 18, 2023), the supposedly post sex photo from May 2022 (hit the right arrow for it if the purple dress photo is in view), the cringe TOWWN shower ad Valentine's Day 2022, and of course the noteworthy photo with a bottle of pills and dildo on the bed from July 2021 Jared took down within mere minutes of posting and then reposting cropped. So, where does the black magic stuff I'm talking about kick in here? They also seem to fit in with the time period she likely had the implants. I didn't really analyze the size of her breasts from that time period in her posts versus before she had kids, when she had them in, and then after to determine the exact timeline. If someone else wants to chime in here, I'm all ears ha ha. However from the info that was given in her podcast and in the People Magazine article aforementioned in this post, this fits in with the time period these posts showed up on Jared and Gen's social media profiles versus when she had the implants. I couldn't stop laughing when I heard about her having had implants she ultimately removed not even a couple years after having them. I might sound like a cold-hearted bitch for saying that but coming from the standpoint of her doing black magic, I call this karma that's starting to come her way. I believe that everything happens for a reason and her boobs "deflating" after breastfeeding, getting implants, and then losing the implants not even 2 years later cues me into the fact divine intervention is coming into play and it is not in Gen's favor.

It is becoming more clear to me Jared is a boobs man, particularly how he managed to make his way to a couple "titty bars" or "breastaurants in December 2023 in 2 different cities 2 weekends in a row. Again below for your viewing pleasure. The Tilted Kilt post is dated December 16, 2023 and is located in Las Vegas, Nevada while the Coyote Ugly post is dated December 9, 2023 the weekend he was in Nashville for the Nashcon 2023. And don't tell me it's for the wings or extraordinary drinks, come on now we all know why a lot of guys really frequent these kinds of places...

I also talked about an Anon ask post I came across with the social media behaviors coming from Jared's direction and even that of his family's. It's interesting to me looking at the timeline in which Gen got her implants versus taken out and then taking into consideration when Jared started pulling back on his likes with her content dating back to November or December 2022. Do I think it's because Gen's boobs "shrunk" is why he pulled back? No, I believe that it is because of many factors within their marriage that says things aren't going well and I think she started to feel awful cranky after she got her implants removed. Can we also talk about some of the weird kisses and also misses? Like the Celebrity Feud one from 2023 (around the 4:54 time mark), JIB also from Summer 2023 (around the 11:33 time mark), and oh god the Charleston post too from February 9, 2024. REALLY?! Married for over 14 years and y'all have kisses and misses like this? Wow.....

It seems to me that there's a reason why he has pulled back so much from her social media and it is not because he was busy working. In fact he was NOT busy for a good chunk of time last year due to the strikes so the stans can't blame him working for this. And let's talk about how during one of her AG1 video posts she claimed Jared didn't go to Idaho with her and the kids "because my husband was working" that I shared in the Bathroom Chronicles post I made here. Right, when there's an actors AND writers strike going on simultaneously he is incredibly busy at work. Liar liar, pants on fire! When you lie about things like he's busy with work when he clearly was not at work for why he didn't go on a vacation with you, that screams to me something is amiss. Also, let's not forget that podcast with Dave Hollis she was on that totally confirmed she's just not that into Jared (certainly loves his money however).

On a divine level, all of these things mentioned here, things I discussed on this timeline post, and the passive aggressive behaviors in some of her posts towards him are things proving to me that her black magic is in fact starting to fade. I mentioned before speaking to that other psychic I was instructed to make a tarot reading post (which I never mentioned this to the guy by the way) I made back on July 19, 2023 private a few days before I even saw those comments on Jensen's birthday post, let alone any screenshots of such others showed me. Months ago I was instructed to cross out or "strikethrough" this part in my post that's now private:

I was informed based on the ace and 10 of cups cards in this particular reading along with the devil card, page of wands and the 4 of cups that there will at the very least be a time of separation in their marriage. In the next part below however, I sense something may happen to Gen (or a very close call) that will bring them back together and "start over". You don't know what you got until it's gone they say...

Hmmm, seems to me your time is coming up Gen. Your black magic pleasant events "time is coming up and the unpleasant events "rush" shall start kicking in just like it will soon for another witch you consult with regularly (ahem, Danneel)...

Me while watching Cherry Magic Thailand Ep.2

I saw on different socmed that aside from paying homage to the original in their official poster and the (cheeky) scene showing the manga's wiki page, Thailand's version includes some scenes from the original manga that Japanese version did not, which makes me more excited to carry on watching 😊

1. I still maintain that New's facial reactions is on point as Achi 😂 Could him and Tay have swapped characters and be as effective? I don't know, but based on their previous works, New seems more comfortable with physical comedy than Tay.

2. I kennat with Karan's entire monologue 😂😂😂 The man is swooning so hard (internally) that it is pretty astounding how he can appear to look and act so calm in front of his crush 😄 If this isn't a BL, I would say that Karan is reading too much shoujo manga for his imagination to run this wild 😂😂

3. How much do you want to bet that the pjs will be GMMTV's next merch? I just hope they come in smaller (woman) size 😅😅😅

4. Oh, my poor baby Rock. He looked like a lost (kicked) puppy 😭😭😭 Who would intentionally break this little baby's heart? But at least, he gave Achi his conscience back and stopped him from using Karan's feelings to make Achi feel "good".

6. I have mixed feelings with how Achi reacts to every single thing that Karan does for him - which, I think is exactly the point these actors want to convey so kudos to TayNew 😊

8. I didn't like the "obedience" game in the manga and the original live action (I think it was effed up). However, it did show how much respect Karan has for Achi that far exceeds his adoration of him <sobs>.

Waaaait. If we based things on the Japanese version, the impending kiss is probably a fake-out. However, I'm still not sure what constitutes as a "virgin" in this universe. Will the Thailand version give kisses a pass? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

You mentioned that you got excited to write the shopping montage when you "realized a certain character would be sticking around." Was the initial uncertainty around that because you weren't sure how the story was going to unfold, or because of some of the real life complications around availability and casting? Stories definitely have a life of their own, but do you feel like you've got a fairly firm plan in mind with "Bridgewater?"

a little bit of both! there's always some uncertainty around what's actually going to be possible production-wise and, of course, we did end up getting alan tudyk in as thomas bradshaw because nathan fillion couldn't come back. and we all couldn't be happier about that! nathan and alan are close friends and alan is doing such a wonderful job that it all really worked out well - but there was definitely a little bit of discussion around "well, do we want to recast or do we want to write thomas off" and ultimately decided that thomas was in so little of season 1 that recasting wouldn't be super disruptive.

I tend to only very broadly plan past a first season when I'm building a show, and usually I'm only focused on, like....the themes and vibes and character growth I want. so in bridgewater's case, I didn't have a S2 plan when writing S1 beyond "here's what I want for jeremy and anne to experience", which could manifest in a whole LOT of ways (this is extremely vague I know, but obviously I can't talk about it until the whole season is out). there was a moment where I thought about jeremy and anne hearing thomas' voice at the end being a fakeout and it actually turns out to be some kind of hallucination or weird paranormal trick, but aaron and I, like, BARELY entertained that. we really wanted jeremy to have the chance to get to know his dad and I love "man out of time" stories.

anyway, long story long, I didn't necessarily even have the arc of the plot and lore of S2 mapped out when we figured out how we wanted the season to end, if that makes sense. I had really clear goals in mind for the emotional journeys that each of the characters would go on, and toyed around with a few ways of getting there before I landed on the one I ended up writing. part of why I don't plot out the specific story beats beyond a first season is because a) I'm a very character-forward writer, so whatever is going to enable the characters to have the emotional arcs I want is what I follow and b) when actors are involved you just truly never know how that's going to transform things.

for instance, I've talked about this before, but jeremy didn't swear all that much on the page in S1, but misha threw in so many swears when we were recording that the S2 scripts had way more cursing for Jeremy from the start. I loved it, I loved how misha's perspective on the character and sensibility altered the way jeremy speaks - he's funnier in S2, with a drier wit, because misha is very funny with a dry wit. it's the same thing with anne - melissa plays her hard-nosed nature so well, but she also has this absolutely incredible softness to her, that I actually wrote her calling jeremy "sweetie" or "honey" in S2 a few times (which I have a lot of squishy feelings about, I just have a lot of squishy feelings about them in general bc of the chemistry that misha and melissa have). same thing with misha and karan - they had such a playful chemistry that it was really easy and nice to lean into the real genuine love and care that vipin and jeremy have for each other (this is, like, SUCH a minor spoiler for what's coming up next, but I was just listening to this episode today, and in future episodes people refer to vipin explicitly as jeremy's best friend because like....yeah, he totally is. jeremy is a pretty loner-ish guy and even though vipin is his TA there is a genuine closeness there).

so there's that kind of stuff that can shape the emotional journeys the characters go on which of course can shake up your plot completely (if anyone listened to The Bright Sessions and has heard me talk about this specific thing before, this is exactly what happened with mark/damien - that relationship was not supposed to result in one of them falling in love and the other one, like, kind of falling back a little against his better judgment (I mean, christ, damien was like the one character that when I started writing I was like 'yeah this guy is straight' turns out VERY much no) but it turned into that because the first time andrew and charlie sat down to record together as those characters it was INSTANT sparks. some of the wildest organic chemistry I've ever experienced as a director lol).

but then there's also the fact that sometimes your actors are your direct collaborators on building the story! of course aaron is my partner in crime in building the world of bridgewater, but for S2, because misha was on board before I even started writing it, the two of us had several conversations both as I was outlining and then after all the scripts were written about who jeremy was and what we wanted for him. so I tend to keep all my plans fairly loose because I love the spontaneous collaboration that comes out of working with other people.

Safu doujinshi!

The Safu doujinshi I ordered came in! They’re really wonderful so I wanted to share a bit! Disclaimer tho that my Japanese is at like a kindergartner’s level (if I’m being generous lol) so this will not be very comprehensive or in depth. Also apologies for my shoddy phone pics. But here they are!

I mentioned before that one was advertised as Nezumi x Safu, which is on the left! I ended up getting the one on the right too, which was labeled Shion x Safu, and I’ll start with that one, cuz it’s more just little snippets involving Safu.

First one is Safu underwater (?) with some dolphins (??) talking to Elyurias. Honestly worth it for this panel alone, the way this artist draws Safu is soooo cute.

SO CUTE. Second story is about Shion and Safu when they’re kids!

Third one is about Nezumi, Shion, Karan, and Rico in the underground room. It opens with Nezumi walking in on this crude picture they drew? lol. I’m not gonna pretend I understand the context for this one at the moment.

Last one is about Shion and Safu meeting up some time after Shion’s been kicked out of Chronos, and Safu has a nice conversation with Karan :)

& that’s basically it! As for the Nezumi x Safu one, there are actually two stories!

First one I understand the least!!! (I’m a coward with kanji!) It seems to be about Nezumi, Shion, and Safu when they’re in college. Safu and Nezumi do a lot of talking on park benches. Second story is about Nezumi, Shion, and Safu in high school. It opens with Safu apparently doing the whole “I want to have s*x” thing to Shion and getting rejected, and then venting to Nezumi on the rooftop about it.

The next day at school gives this adorable hair ruffling panel with Nezumi (assumedly) teasing Shion for being a dingus in how he rejected Safu. Things don’t stay awkward for long, tho, as Safu gives Shion a hand-knitted scarf and the three of them seem to be good.

Then we get another scene of Nezumi and Safu on a park bench, lol. I don’t know what they’re talking about, but Eve comes up a few times, so Nezumi’s alter ego shows up in this high school AU, apparently.

The next day back at school, the three meet up again, and I’m not sure what they’re talking about but all that matters is the panel below.

So sweet! Always wanted to see the three of them like this! <3 My wish to see them all interacting as friends, and Nezumi and Safu specifically interacting in a more positive, light-hearted situation has been fulfilled.

Things definitely didn't shape up as well as expected for Aditya Chopra with the Salman Khan led Tiger 3. While the content got mixed feedback from the audience, the industry is also buzzing with chatter around how a conventional Friday release would have benefited the business by pushing the film to Tiger Zinda Hai number. It's Salman Khan's fan following and the franchise value that has taken the film to a lifetime collection of around Rs. 280 crores, getting it a clean hit tag.

And now, Bollywood Hungama has got news that would create a stir in the industry and shock waves on the social media. Highly placed sources have confirmed that Aditya Chopra has delayed Tiger vs Pathaan shoot. "Tiger vs Pathaan was to start in March 2024, but Aditya Chopra has decided to personally take time to rework on the script and serve the audience with better content. Once Siddharth Anand is done with Fighter post production, Adi will sit down with his director to improve the version of what has been written," a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source added that Aditya Chopra wants to put all his focus on the Tiger vs Pathaan script as the idea is to reintroduce Tiger to the audience at its ferocious best. "Tiger is the most senior spy of the YRF Universe and the idea is to present it in a way that takes audiences on a ride. Aditya Chopra knows that the expectations will be off the roof in the audience for the face off of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in Tiger vs Pathaan. There is no room for compromise and all the energies are invested to better the film," the trade source added.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan also had a discussion with Aditya Chopra recently, and conveyed his thoughts on the potential to improve the writing of Tiger vs Pathaan. "Shah Rukh considers the YRF Universe to be close to his heart as Pathaan played a role in introducing his action image. He told Adi that he stands by his side and will be ready to shoot the film whenever Adi is ready with the script. Salman is also on the same page, and hence green lit the shoot timelines for Karan Johar's film from February 2024. Shah Rukh Khan in the meantime will be shooting for The King from January."

It's a consensual decision taken by the top 3 industry giants, in an attempt to provide a world class cinematic experience to their audiences. Tiger vs Pathaan will now go on floors in 2025 and is likely to release in the year 2026.
