My Jack Harkness Playlist

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the post where I explain my Jack Harkness playlist and how my (currently) 73 songs relate to him and his life!

This will be a long post. Spoilers for Torchwood, and for the audio Mighty and Despair. You have been warned.

Also the songs are mostly in chronological order of his life events.

Also sorry for the inconsistency between lengths of descriptions for each song. I was determined to finish it all in one night, but I got tired and started using less effort to explain. Took me over two hours to make in the end. If you have any questions, I’d love to elaborate on my feelings for any of the songs!!

So, here we go!

1. Jack’s Love Theme

(this is such a beautiful theme) Ever since a young age, Jack has expressed love deeply, loved everyone with his whole heart. Until his heart gets broken by his guilt at the loss of Gray and he keeps everyone at a little more of a distance, and further down the road after that, keeps everyone at a distance because he is immortal. For Jack, love and life are the two constants

2. No Roses by The Builders and The Butchers

For this, I have @ultraviolet-eucatastrophe to thank! This is an amazing song for Jack’s childhood, losing Gray, and in general his relationship with Gray and I love it a lot.

3. American Healthcare (Glitzy) by Penelope Scott

The lyrics to this give me the feeling of being stressed and traumatized but joking about it because it’s the only thing you can do. Wanting to help people and keep people alive but realizing that everything is corrupted. This brings to mind Jack in the Time Agency years to me.

4. You Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate

This is a very simple song that I believe showcases Jack’s tendency and ability to charm anyone he meets.

5. YES MOM by Tessa Violet

This is a song that encapsulates Jack’s vibe in the Time Agency. He loves himself (or at least pretends he does). He can be his own hype man. If not doing terrible, he’s at least doing well compared to later.

6. Weak by AJR

Jack being a lot like John in these days, drinking, partying, drugs, the whole lot. Sure, it’s bad for him, but he doesn’t care. Not enough to do anything about it.

7. I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper by Sarah Brightman, Hot Gossip

I included this one because John Hart had to claim it was their song, and I fell in love with it. It’s a good song to reference John and Jack’s relationship, along with this next one.

8. Teeth by 5 Seconds of Summer

The John vibes! The Jack and John vibes! Their relationship can be encapsulated in these lyrics, really, the whole song would have to be quoted if I started quoting it. I love it!!!

9. The Funeral by YUNGBLUD

Jack is not taking care of himself, not at all, as shown by the beginning of the song. He’s not eating right, not sleeping right, has no clean clothes. He hates himself, he loves himself, he tells himself it’s alright that he dreams about the day he dies. This is Jack after the Time Agency. He believes that if he dies, no one would come to his funeral, so he is doing everything he can to distract him from that fact, doing con after con. Until Rose and the Doctor show up.

10. Build a Bitch by Bella Poarch

Kind of out of order but a good song. I love the message, and Jack would definitely have this kind of attitude if someone criticized him.

11. Michelle by the Beatles

A soft, old fashioned love song. Jack in a heartbeat.

12. Die For A Night by YUNGBLUD

Thoughts Jack had before he met Rose and the Doctor, that would become very ironic as he later came to see.

13. Victorious by Panic! At The Disco

A happy day. The day that everybody lived. Encapsulating a feeling of unhealthy happiness that would eventually become something new with his newfound Friends.

14. I Think I’m In Love by Kat Dahlia

The moment he falls in love with the Doctor and with Rose are both so early on, and they hit him so hard, he doesn’t want to admit. But he does. He’s happy.

15. CASTLE OF GLASS by Linkin Park

Feeling insignificant next to how amazing his partners are sometimes, but realizing how much better they all make each other. Realizing who he is is alright. A song about holding each other up, showing each other how to be whole again.

16. Talk To Me by Cavetown

Feeling like he can be himself, Rose and the Doctor reassuring him about all his faults, being there for him. Being able to talk to each other. Nothing is easy, it will never be, that’s alright, let it out, talk to me.

17. Two Birds by Regina Spektor

Jack and The Doctor. Two birds on a wire. The Doctor says there is nothing he won’t understand, says he won’t let go of Jack and then he FUCKING LIES. He leaves him, and doesn’t come back. This song is feels. This event is feels. Uergh.

18. Why Am I Like This? by Orla Gartland

Jack, left on the Game Station, and down on the planet below after the first few deaths, wondering what he did to deserve this, and wondering why he is like this. Thinking through every word he ever said, everything he ever did. Why did the Doctor leave? Mistakes on loop inside his head.

19. Alien Boy by Oliver Tree

He feels like an alien among the human beings in the 1800s.Sure he was a time agent, but he’d never had to be among a different time period for this *long*.

20. Wishful Drinking by Tessa Violet

Wishful thinking while he’s drinking. Dying repeatedly, drinking himself to death, thinking about how he could drown? None of it’s a problem if he doesn’t get caught. He’s sprialing.

21. Tubthumping by Chumbawamba

A slideshow of death. He gets knocked down, and he gets back up again.

22. Captain Jack - Short Mix by Captain Jack

He gets “conscripted” by Torchwood. This song is happy and sad. At least he’s found a way to get to the Doctor again - wait. It’s also just a really catchy song. I found it when watching video edits.

23. WWIII by grandson

Being in World War I and World War II he just feels so, so tired of death.

24. Which Side Are You On? by Pete Seeger

It’s an old song. It feels like a Jack song. Idk why, though, sorry. And I felt like he could really use a union with how he was treated.

25. Being Alive (from “Company”) by John Barrowman

A soft, slow song about being alive, about being hurt, about living. Celebrating being alive, because he’s starting to live again.

26. Cat’s In The Cradle by Harry Chapin

Having Melissa/Alice. Fearing she would grow up just like him, but loving her all the same. The pain as she grew older and he couldn’t see her anymore. Hoping she was better off without him.

27. Ur Gonna Wish U Believed Me by Cavetown

Jack after Alex kills the whole team on New Year’s. The 21st Century is when everything changes. You’re going to wish you believed me.

28. The Trick by AJR

He lies. He omits truths. To everyone. His trick is he can be anything he pretends to be. But one day he’ll run out of lies, one day he’ll run out of things he’s proud of. One day he’ll have to face the truth, that he’s screwed.

29. We’ve Got A Score To Settle by The Dear Hunter

A Torchwood badass song, once Jack is the leader of Torchwood, he’s hurting but he’s getting better. They’re doing something together, and he’s going to make a change. Torchwood has had so much blood on their hands, and so has he, and he’s going to do everything he can to fix it.

30. Girls/ Girls/ Boys by Panic! At The Disco

Something to spice things up. To me, in this playlist, this is about pride, and its origins and how Jack celebrates it after living through so much of the time where you could be hurt, killed, arrested for being gay. I should write a fic about that, really.

31. Riptide by grandson

He’s done bad things to good people, been caught up in it and these feelings for too long. He’s had to make so many hard decisions that no one else has had to make and sometimes they come back to bite him in the ass.

32. Torchwood Theme

This is where the show starts in the timeline of this playlist. So I put this theme here.

33. Tissues by YUNGBLUD

He knows he’s falling in love with Ianto. He knows this will end in tragedy no matter what happens but he also knows they both want, Need, to be loved. He can’t keep holding his breath on this forever.

34. Carried Away by Passion Pit

Just being so happy, being with his family slowly growing closer together. Getting lost in the feeling.

35. Bike Dream by Rostam

Another Ianto love song. There is a Jack he does see and a Jack he doesn’t see, but Jack loves him so, so much. There is a side of Jack he might never get to meet. Not Yet. Not until after he comes back from the Year That Never Was.

36. Who We Are by Imagine Dragons

Another badass Torchwood team song. This is who they are.

37. Voodoo Child by Rogue Traders

This is the Master’s song that he plays, it haunts me, and it might haunt Jack, as everything about that year does.

38. Gagging Order by Radiohead

A feeble protest against what the Master has been drilling into him form the very beginning - “I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not your property, no matter what you say”. He feels like he’s just a body after so long of hopelessness, of death.

39. All Time Low by Sam Tsui

Thinking of Ianto, during his year away. Maybe Ianto dies in front of him. He’s at an all time low. He can’t fix his pride, he can’t fix anything.

40. Amsterdam by Coldplay

Everything is terrible, everything is painful, but you know what? Time is on his side.

41. 50 Ways To Say Goodbye by Train

A good fun, upbeat song, about all the different ways one can die. Possibly also how Ianto feels about Jack leaving for months right after coming back to life and kissing him.

42. Twenty Twelve by Matt Maeson

Wanting to stay with Ianto forever, adjust to adjusting forever. Wanting to open his heart to him, but knowing how hurt Ianto feels. Knowing he can’t leave anymore, now that he realizes what is here for him. He can act like his act is together, but in the end, Ianto sees through it, and will patch him together.

43. Tightrope by Michelle Williams

A Jack/Ianto love song about wanting to follow Ianto anywhere, knowing he can’t. Knowing it’s dangerous, never knowing when it will end, but it comes with a breathtaking view.

44. Yesterday Was Hard On All of Us by Fink

About the episode Meat. That day was hard on all of them, so stressful, and bringing back traumatic memories for Jack. Probably bringing back cannibal memories for the rest of them, too.

45. Walking The Wire by Imagine Dragons

Honestly, pretty similar to Tightrope, but I like it. More emphasis on the danger, and dealing with everything as they get to it.

46. Wanted by Hunter Hayes

He wants to make them feel wanted. <3

47. Two by Sleeping At Last

Giving up everything, not taking care of himself, to protect everyone else around him. Everyone he loves. Two.

48. Undisclosed Desires by Muse

A careful, loving, sexy song for Ianto Jones and Jack.

49. The Ballad of Ianto Jones

I love this one so much, and it breaks my heart.

50. This Is Gonna Hurt by Sixx:A.M.

He always knew it was going to end but as the 456 say those dreadful words he realizes how short it really was. This is way too soon, and ironically, there is nothing he can do. This is gonna hurt.

51. All The Angels by My Chemical Romance

Blaming himself song.

52. Take It All Back by Judah & The Lion

“I’d take it all back, take it all back, take it all back, just to have you” I laugh sob every time this song comes on…

53. What I’ve Done by Linkin Park

54. The Unforgiven by Metallica

55. Wrong side of Heaven

All three of these (53,54,55) are about Jack blaming himself for everyone’s deaths. Tosh, Owen, Ianto, Steven. I couldn’t just pick one song, sorry. He spends a long time feeling guilty.

56. You Or Your Memory by The Mountain Goats

Starting to grieve in a more healthy way.

57. Used To Haunt by The Mountain Goats

All his old friends are always welcome in the hallways they used to haunt now, whether the memories or painful or not, he’s just glad to remember them.

58. Jack, You’re Dead! by Joe Jackson

When he doesn’t respond, when he doesn’t even initiate flirting anymore, he feels more dead than if he was, and he doesn’t care. But also this is a really fun song!!

59. Don’t Feel Like Feeling Sad Today by YUNGBLUD

Deciding that today, even if he is sad today, he is not going to sit in it. He is going to start living.

60. Breaking The Habit by Linkin Park

Breaking the bad habits he has built up in all the years since Ianto’s death. It’s hard, it is oh so hard, but he needs to. No more drinking just for the sake of it, no more dying just for the sake of it. He is breaking the habit tonight.

61. A Thousand Years by John Barrowman

Loving people and remembering them for a thousand years or more. It’s hard, but he wouldn’t want to forget.

62. What’s My Age Again? by blink-182

Honestly it’s about the mood of the song, and the name. He forgets his age, really does it matter? He should act his age, but really does it matter? He should live, and love, and do what makes him happy.

63. 42 by Coldplay

This was originally the 42nd song… anyway, this for me references him living on the planet he lives on in Mighty and Despair, trying to find a way through the veil. Those who are dead are not dead, they’re just living in his head. There must be something more.

64. Wild Sage by The Mountain Goats

A soft nice song about the first while when Carla and Persis are there.

65. Good King Wenceslas by The Oxford Trinity Choir

Christmases with Carla and Persis. A good reminder that life can be good.(for those not in the know, Carla and Persis are from Mighty and Despair, a Lives of Captain Jack audio)

66. You Are Enough by Sleeping At Last

Feeling like he is enough, those simple words can do so much. Helping Carla and Persis to see that they are enough, too.

67. Don’t Go by YUNGBLUD

Realizing that Persis is going to grow old, is growing old, not wanting her to go, not wanting her to leave him, almost not being able to handle how close they’re all getting.

68. Woke Up New by The Mountain Goats

The first time in decades, in thousands and thousands of years in a way, that he had woken up alone. It hurt, it fucking hurt, and he didn’t know what to do. Just… read all the lyrics to this. Please. IT FITS THIS SO WELL I’M GOING TO CRY. “What do I do without you”

69. You Are A Memory by Message To Bears

A slow, soft song about the fact that everyone he has ever lost is eventually nothing but a memory, and even that might fade.

70. MEMORIES by YUNGBLUD

Wanting to let go of the painful memories. Knowing every time he falls asleep he will wake up alone. “Cause when I said forever, I meant forever.”

71. Yellow by Jodie Whittaker

Appreciation for mortal beings. Made of skin and bone, but they are so beautiful.

72. Welcome To The Masquerade by Thousand Foot Krutch

Jack Harkness is not happy yet, but he is way less sad.HIs life is a constant cycle of loving, losing, and learning to love again.

Being loud and proud about not being ashamed, not being afraid, not being ok. About everything that he is and is going to be.

Temptation Masterlist

Just before we leave Sam comes over to give us a note from Alice and Jasper

"They've left us"

"Why?" Rose frowns

"It doesn't say" why would they leave at the time we need them the most?

"Can I see that?" Bella takes the note and reads it

"Let's not question them. There is obviously a reason"

"Babe we have to go" Emmett takes my hand

"We will see you guys soon. Ness" I crouch down to the little girl who is basically my niece "when you meet the Denalis, don't be frightened. They just don't know you yet, but once they do, they will love you"

"I'll miss you Auntie Kat" it's not very often Ness speaks so when she does you better listen to her

"I'll miss you as well. I'll see you soon" I place a kiss on her forehead

"See you soon kiddo" Emmett ruffles up her hair and we head off.

"I hated the first British Invasion and I hate the second one even more" Garrett has a man against a wall with his hand around his neck

"Really Garrett?" I raise a brow at him

"Even the Beatles?" Emmett asks

"Didn't anyone tell you not to play with your food?"

"Food?" the man squeals

"Old habits die hard"

"Carlisle needs you" Emmett says. Garrett drops the man on the floor

"Sounds interesting, but first I better finish my meal.."

"Help" the man yells. Garrett then has his 'meal'.

On the way home we told him at Ness and once he met her he was shown what we were telling him the plane ride back. By the time we got back there were many of or friends at our house. This made more of the Quileutes turn. Meaning Jacob and I had to go out and calm them down. My wolf needed an outlet more so than ever since turning again. I would often have to run in my wolf form with Jacob. Out of everyone, Alistair is the most unpredictable, he's not a people person.

While mingling with the other vampires I smell 2 that weren't invited. Knowing Jake is off with the newly turned wolves I was the only one around. I take off my clothes, leaving just my underwear on before shifting into my white wolf

"So she finally turned" I hear Kate say to Emmett. I look around to where theses rouge vampires are going to come from, Ness behind me the whole time with Emmett next to her. I push Ness into the house using my nose, Rose and Thomas following. The rest of us run to where the vampires are. I growl at them when I see them

"Vladimir, Stefan" Carlisle greats them "your a long way from home"

"What are they doing here?" Kate says to Eleazar

"We heard the Volturi were moving against you, but that you would not stand alone" Vladimir states, his thick Romanian accent (are they Romanian or Russian?)

"We didn't do what we were accused off" Carlisle shouts up at them as they sit in a tree

"We do not care what you did Carlisle"

"We've been waiting a millennium for the Italian scum to be challenged" Stefan now speaks

"It's not our plan to fight the Volturi"

"Shame. Aro's witnesses will be most disappointed"

"They enjoy a good fight" the 2 vampires talk to each other

"Aro's witnesses?" Eleazar walks forward

"Aww still hoping they'll listen?" Vladimir speaks making me growl at him.

"When Aro wants someone from a coven it's never long before evidence turns up proving that coven committed some crime" Eleazar speaks when we return to the house

"So he's done this before?" Bella asks

"It happens to rarely, I never realised it was a pattern" Eleazar continues

"Apparently he always pardons one person whose thoughts he claims are repentant" Carlisle now says

"This person always has an ability"

"Alice" I mutter realising "he's got no one like her. That's why she's left"

"But why does he need witnesses?" Emmett asks

"To spread the word justice has been served" Alistair now adds into the conversation "after he slaughters an entire coven"

"Benjamin, Tia, we're leaving" Amun announces

"And where will you go? what's makes you think they will be satisfied with Alice? what's to stop them from going after Benjamin next? or Zafrina or Kate, or anyone else with a gift. Their goal isn't punishment is power, acquisition. Look Carlisle won't ask you to fight, but I will. For the sake of not only my family, but also for yours and the way you want to live" Edward finishes his speech. Emmett takes my hand and gives it a squeeze. The room is silent until Jacob stands up

"The packs will fight. We've never been afraid of vampires" I smile at Jacob

"We will fight" Tanya stands with her sisters behind her

"This won't be the first time I fought against a kings rule" Garrett also stands

"We'll join you" Benjamin states holding Tia's hand

"No"

"I will do the right thing Amun. You may do as you please" this sets a chain reaction to all the other vampires letting us know they will stand with out family and fight. Alistair retreats back up to the attic letting Carlisle know that we will see where he stands when it comes down to it.

Im personally starting not to trust Stas based on things ive seen lately, she knows what people think about her and Colby because she reads through all her comments on all 3 major social media platforms, and will angle her pictures to make it seem like she is eating with another person when in fact its her roommate because her roommate always posts her pov too. She knows people assume everything she does is some hidden message pertaining to Colby and instead of clarifying she keeps it going. She posted some tiktok where people swore she was snuggled up to Colbys shirt, but then another account posted an old photo of her wearing that shirt when she still had blonde hair. Her recent snaps she posed with the shirt next to her and then another snap out to lunch which she later replied to on twitter but again its angled and her roommate posted the same thing. It’s like following a Nancy Drew mystery except this one has no bases or actual mystery. Katrina today posted a pic that debunks one Stas posted which made it seem like her and Colby were alone. Actually is all pretty sad, not sure what she’s trying to achieve with this but i dont see anything good coming out of it once Colby goes back to posting with Shea, or Amber, or another beau.

Oh, both her and Colby clearly know what's being said/speculated about them on socials. I think they actually alluded to it on that infamous drunken livestream they did on Kat's twitch that we shan't talk about, lol.

To be fair, I don't know how much of what she does is calculated beforehand, so much as she may be taking advantage of the consequences of her postings after the fact, you know what I mean?

Take the shirtgate thing, for example. I doubt she really put much thought into that shirt vaguely resembling Colby's when she decided to make that tiktok. But once the comments started rolling in, and the conspirators starting conspiring, she may well have seen all that and decided, for whatever reason, "Let me throw them a couple more bones here," instead of just straight up telling everyone that she wasn't rolling around in Colby's shirt on tiktok as some secret nod to the fans that they're together.

This reminds me of my favorite conspiracy theory of all time: the Paul is Dead theory. If you've never heard of it, check it out- it's wild. Basically, fans became convinced that Beatle Paul McCartney was killed in 1966 and replaced by a lookalike Paul, and that the remaining 3 Beatles left clues to the "truth" throughout all of their subsequent album songs and covers.

Now, the Beatles themselves did not start this rumor, and they have kind of tried to debunk it over the years...but there have also been times when they've leaned into a bit. Why? Who knows, they're all whacky lol. I guess if people are going to make you front and center in their conspiracy theories, you might as well reap the benefits that come with that kind of dogged visibility. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, while I do think she does set out to egg this shit on sometimes (as does the King of Egging Shit on, Mr. Corgi Book), sometimes I think things happen accidentally and organically, and she just allows it to continue, rather than clearing things up. Do I stan that decision? No, everytime I hear about this stupid shit, it takes another year off my already dwindling life. Do I understand in a weird way (even if I don't agree) with why they do this shit? Well, yea. Views, engagement, visibility, and getting your name out there is the name of the game they're all playing, and this kind of crap is a cheat code to the boss fight, as the kids say. They're gonna speculate anyway, might as well give em something to keep em speculating.

To sum it up: she's Paul McCartney, and the flannel shirt is her "barefoot on the Abbey Road album cover."

What are two things that you have no problem paying full price for? Decent quality clothes and wax melts. Ever been to a haunted house? How scared were you? No, they’re not really a huge thing here. I mean, they exist but not everywhere and they’re nothing like the ones you see in America. Would you marry somebody who was intensely religious? I wouldn’t marry anyone who was even remotely religious. Do you own any clothes you wouldn’t wear in front of your mother? Sure, lingerie. Does anyone know every little detail about you? Nope, and I wouldn’t want them to either.

Has anyone told you a secret lately that you aren’t allowed to tell anyone? Not so far as I can recall. Where were you when you got your first period? My mum’s work. I’d been on an induction day at school and then had to get a taxi to her work afterwards, and I was waiting for her to finish a meeting when I felt really sick/sore and there it was lol. Luckily I knew/had money and sorted myself out without any issues. Can you change a car tire? I know how to change a tire, but I can’t physically do it on my own. Are you more attracted to men or women? It depends. Do you continue fighting in an argument even though you’re wrong? Hahaha sometimes, I can be so stubborn. Where was the last house you went besides your house? Uh, Jade’s house to drop Copper off after his afternoon walk. Have you ever played paintball? Did you get hit? Nope, it just doesn’t really appeal to me. Right now, are you too hot, too cold or just right? I’ve finally warmed up from being out in the cold and rain all day. Do you ever use a laptop in bed? Not really, I’m normally downstairs on the sofa when I’m on my laptop. Are your parents still together? If not, do you know why? Yeah, they’re happily married. Have you ever been evicted? Why? No. Have you ever worked as a manager or supervisor? Yes to both. What was the last thing you voted for? Probably some poll thing online - nothing important, anyway. What’s the longest you’ve ever stayed awake? Why did you do it? 48+ hours, because I can’t sleep on planes/in airports and we had to fly to Australia which takes ages. Have you ever received a parking fine? Yes, once. Are you in any group chats? Who’s in them? Just one - with Archie’s breeder and all the other owners of his siblings. Do you have a lisp? Yes. Do you have an Instagram account? Do you use it often? Just for business use - I update stories everyday but I don’t update the rest anymore. Have you ever broken up with someone for someone else? No. How many windows are open on your computer? Just one, which has five tabs open. Have you ever taken a shower with anyone before? Yes. What’s your most memorable story from a power outage? Not much. The last time we had a power cut was during the summer - I just sat outside and read my book lol. Is torture ever acceptable? Only if it’s consensual, lol. Would you ever date someone who had an STD, if they were honest and safe? I mean, Mike gets coldsores so technically he has herpes. It doesn’t bother me - we just don’t do anything when he has an active sore. Have you ever kissed under mistletoe? No. Are you still with the person you fell hardest for? If not, do you still care for each other? We’re still together. How many people has he/she been in love with, besides you? He had one serious girlfriend before me. Find 5 people on your Facebook friends list, whose name begins with K. Who are these people, and how did you meet them? Karla - my cousin. Kim - an online friend from my Xanga days, Kathryn - a lady who lives nearby who I know from dog-walks and my business, Kelly - we used to work together about a decade ago, Kat - another friend from my Xanga days. Do you think you are pregnant? I know I’m not pregnant. Do you think hugs are awkward? They definitely can be. What is your favorite band of all time? The Beatles. Do your siblings dye their hair? I don’t have any siblings. Have you ever read someone’s journal? Yeah. If your significant other proposed to you right here, right now, would you accept? We’re already married. Do you think you’ve found the one you want to marry yet? ... Did the last song you listened to hold any special meaning? Nah. How easy would it be to get over the person you currently like/love? Probably illegally downloading music, and no. Sex, menstruation, or puberty - which is the most uncomfortable subject? I don’t really feel uncomfortable talking about any of those things. When you picture flowers in your head, what color are they? Pink or white. Have you ever received a hickey from the last person you kissed? Yeah. Would you get back with your last ex if you could? Nope. Is it easy for you to accept loss? It depends on the situation. If you have a boyfriend/girlfriend, how long have you guys been together? Six years, married four. Who was the last person you caught lying to you? I honestly don’t remember. Honestly, how many people do you have feelings for? One. Honestly, do you believe in yourself? I mean, I exist. Ever gotten in trouble for public displays of affection? Nope. Have you ever been drunk or high? Yes. Have you ever chatted with someone on webcam? Sure, I FaceTime my mum most weeks actually. What is the most challenging meal you have ever cooked? I don’t remember. Have you ever had to be put to sleep at a hospital? Why? No. What if a friend asked you to go with her to get an abortion? Yeah, we all had to take it in turns when I was at primary school. Do you believe in the army, it’s disgraceful to improperly salute? I have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you keep notes, drawings, or letters that people give you? Some of them, sure. Have you had a bf/gf that you never kissed? No. Has anybody criticized the way your significant other looked? I’m sure they have. Who in your life is your number one priority to make sure they’re happy? My husband. What was the last strong scent you smelled? The candle I have burning which is orange and cinnamon scented. How did you discover your favorite band? My dad introduced them to me. When was the last time you performed in front of a group of people? In school years ago. The last person you kissed treat you right? He does. Are you afraid of clowns? Yeah, they’re creepy. 3.30 A.M.

I hate myself.

No, really. I may have called it once or twice in the past due to mild anger or frustration, but this.

This is real.

I mean, I may be the only person who would:

A) Cry over a failed marriage during an interview

B) Scratch that, cry over a failed marriage in midst of the most IMPORTANT interview in my entire career!

C) Go straight to the pub later to drown my sorrows when I know perfectly well what would happen if I do get drunk.

D) Do what would be obvious to a broken-hearted, career destroyed, thirty year old drunk woman: Leave a string of carefully selected profanities on the voice mail of my beloved ex-husband.

E) Waking up several hours later on the side of god-knows-what street staring in horror at the drunken messages I've sent to everyone in my cell's contact list- which would also include my parents.

And to think of it, I managed it all in little less than 12 hours last night.

I think I'll just dig a burrow in my apartment and never come out of it. Wait a minute...

That's it! I'm never leaving my apartment again. It'll be perfect- I'll take up one of those work-at-home jobs they always advertise on the internet, eat ramen noodles for sustenance and stay protected from the world outside throughout my life.

In fact, I'll tip off my doorman to tell my family that I've left to pursue my inner self and I may never come back again. As many years pass by, my family would mourn over my presumed death while I get a plastic surgery done and change my name to something untraceable like Ronal Wallis.

Oh, jolly good! A brilliant idea. Why didn't I ever think of this before?

MAY 3, 2019.

13.30 P.M.

Err; maybe the whole change-my-identity-and-live-happily plan didn't exactly work.

Don't get me wrong, it didn't totally blow up or anything. My doorman, Steve did his job perfectly, informing my sister that I have indeed joined Deepak Chopra on a journey to find myself in a tiny village in the Himalayan Valleys. He narrated the story in such a sober tone that even I found myself believing him for a moment.

But Steve and I didn't realize that in order to leave the country, I would actually need my passport- The passport which is still in my ex-husband's apartment along with the rest of the stuff I was going to pick up this week.

Unfortunately, my sister was very much aware of this piece of information.

"Anna, it's been two months. You've got to get your shit together. You cannot stay dep-" I gave my sister a warning glance.

Not the D-word. Definitely not the D-word.

"I'm completely fine."I mumbled, looking down at the dregs of my empty coffee mug.

"No, you're not completely fine Annabelle Green. You've stopped calling, stop visiting all of us. Hell, nowadays you don't even get your ass out of the bed. Now, I know what Luc-"she stopped short, taking in my pained expression.

Another word I do not want to hear – Luc- Lucas.

Lucas .Lucas. Lucas.

"I'm sorry," Kat, my sister, bowed her head down low. "I shouldn't have brought him up."

"Yeah, you shouldn't have." My eyes closed from exhaustion. "Kat, why are you here?"

"Well, last night you-"

"I KNOW. It was a mistake. And I think I sent an explanatory text earlier this morning."

"That won't stop me from checking up on you, Anna. I'm bloody worried about you."

My eyes descend down to her enormous belly. She shouldn't worry about me right now- I'm not the one who is due for two bouncing baby boys in less than two months.

Did I just say bouncing? Oh, Lord.

"How're the boys kickin'?" I pat her belly gently, forcing myself to smile.

Her face instantly relaxes. "Oh, they're kickin', all right," she smiles at me, "Didn't give me a wink of sleep last week."

Well, that makes the two of us.

"I can't wait for little John and Paul to meet their ol' Aunt Anna." At least this was true. The arrival of my twin nephews is the only thing keeping me up for the past couple of months.

"Anna, we have talked about this. I'm not naming the kids after The Beatles."

"Why not? I recommend you have another set of twin boys so we'll have the entire boy band in our family."

"And have four crazy boys running around the household? No thanks. Phil and I would probably die of insanity."

Sigh. Phil and Kat. Their story is the closest you'd ever get to a fairytale- childhood sweethearts; they were two young teenagers wildly in love but were painfully separated to colleges at the opposite ends of the country. When it looked like it was truly over between them, they reconciled during the summer after college. It was literally The Notebook all over again, leaving out all the letter writing and the crazy house building. I don't think Phil is capable of fixing a broken lock, let alone build an entire house.

Suddenly, I felt someone holding my hand tightly. I look up to see Kat's eyes filled with tears. "Annie, come home. Mum and Dad miss you. I miss you. We want to stay with you in these difficult times. A few days away from Seattle will do you good. "She gets up. "Mum, Dad and Phil are waiting for us in the car downstairs. I'll help you pack up."

My heart softens, but I raise my eyebrows in sarcasm. "So, they sent you to emotionally blackmail me, right? Well, it's working, Mommy –in-waiting."

She tweaks my nose playfully. "It always does, baby sis."

The last time John Lennon set foot on a concert stage, it was Thanksgiving 1974, making a surprise appearance with his friend Elton John at a sold-out Madison Square Garden. When he and Elton cut "Whatever Gets You Thru" together, Elton proposed a bet - if it hit Number One, John would sing it with him live. John agreed, never thinking he'd get called on it. But he was. The performance sounds shaky - John's all nerves after a few years of hiding from live shows - but he steps up there to mach shau with Elton, doing the hit as well as Elton's remake of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." John announces, "We thought we'd do one last number so I can get out of here and be sick. This is a number of an old estranged fiancé of mine called Paul." They do "I Saw Her Standing There," their big finale. Even in the raw recording Elton released as a B-side, you can hear John get caught up in the crowd's excitement. It's his night to shine - onstage in New York, for the first time in years and the last time ever. Why is he doing a Paul song? Why is he making this moment about him and Paul, when all anybody wants is to cheer and shower John with love? But in the middle of the crowd, he calls Paul's name.

Can’t Fight the Moonlight

He’s her professor and she’s his student but can they resist each other on a university field trip unsupervised?

September 24 - University of Texas, Austin TX

“Is it wrong to want to inspect the professor more than the actual event?”

“That’s not appropriate,” Caroline swatted away her best friend while attempting to keep her attention trained on his lecture.

But it was incredibly hard to concentrate.

Katherine was right. He was infinitely explorable given his crimson lips, sexy stubble and crisp accent that made her tingle in all the right places but she was madly trying to focus on the assignment at hand.

Camping in rural Texas to see the harvest moon with her class was manageable. But sleeping so close to the hottie, astronomy professor in question was a whole other problem.

“Caroline?” She looked up distractedly into the gaze of their professor. She could only manage a robotic nod by way of response. “I was hoping you’d be our student representative for the excursion to Somerville next week?”

His blue eyes were equally imposing and imploring and his gentle tone hypnotising. Caroline didn’t have much choice but to nod stupidly again. He sent her a brief smile with those extremely kissable-looking lips then effortlessly continued his lecture. Caroline could hear her friend chuckling by her side.

“What’s appropriate again?”

October 1 - Somerville, TX

“You’re no slacker in the tent department,” he whistled appreciatively. They had arrived a few hours earlier and she’d gotten straight to work as the student representative making sure their sleeping arrangements were in order.

Until he decided to come over and distract her. Caroline felt her temperature rise just from being in such close proximity to her professor.

She knew it was wrong.

Very wrong.

But it was difficult not to react when his heady scent, a mixture of sandalwood and vanilla, was so enticing not to mention that navy henley he wore like a second skin over a rather fitted pair of dark, denim jeans.

Caroline closed her eyes momentarily, silently repeating the same mantra.

“He’s your professor and it’s not appropriate to drool over him. Repeat.”

“I, uh, meant that as a compliment,” he added, Caroline realising she hadn’t responded because she was too busy trying to regain some semblance of composure.

“Thank you, professor,” she managed to get out, but only just.

“I assume this isn’t your first rodeo then?” Caroline felt a blush creep across her cheeks wishing he hadn’t made a riding reference when all she could think about was doing that very thing to him.

Caroline was ashamed. It was as if Katherine had entered her mind and was walking around while subsequently making herself at home.

“Caroline, are you okay?” He asked, his concerned look not lost on her. She really needed to calm down.

“Yes, uh, fine,” she replied quickly. “No, I’ve been camping with my parents since I could walk. My father would be absolutely mortified with me if I couldn’t pitch a tent after all that practice.”

“And your mother?” He asked curiously.

“She, uh, died seven years ago,” Caroline stumbled, not expecting him to ask such a personal question. He was her professor, after all. His expression changed, sympathy she was used to, although there was something else intermingled with it she couldn’t quite identify.

“But I’m sure she’d be just as proud,” he smiled, making her stomach flip. “Given your vast, outdoor experience, I’m hoping you can teach me how to make a s’more this trip? My younger brother tells me there’s nothing better.”

“Your brother has good taste.”

“Well, don’t get too excited. Kol has taste but I think the jury is still out on how good it is,” he drawled. “My brother is a bit of a nomad. He’s been travelling the globe ever since he turned eighteen. You name any country and he’s probably already been there and made himself at home.”

“But yet you live here full-time and haven’t sampled our finest campfire cuisine yet?”

“Unlike my brother, whose work ethic is virtually non-existent, I tend to burn the candle at both ends.”

“Well, you know what they say,” Caroline teased. “All work and no play…” He held her gaze as the words tumbled from her mouth. It was not like her at all but her professor brought it out in her, or it was Katherine still playing with her mind?

It was his turn not to respond, his blue eyes reflecting exactly how she felt.

Needy.

Intense.

Imploring.

“Are you saying I’m a dull boy?” She couldn’t miss the husky tone in his voice.

“Well…”

“Professor Mikaelson, can you help me with my tent?” Hayley Marshall was batting her long eyelashes and brown, doe eyes in his direction.

She’d forgotten they were standing in a campful of other people. Caroline knew he had a fan club but she hated that her nemesis was one of them. Hayley had flirted with her ex boyfriend for months before dating him straight after their break-up.

“Uh, of course, Hayley,” he responded officially, finally tearing his eyes away from hers. “I’ll be right there.”

Caroline should have been pleased given whatever just happened between them was against the rules but all she felt was a dull ache of disappointment.

“So, all that eye sex was for naught I see,” Katherine offered, breaking Caroline from her professor-induced trance.

“There was no eye sex and, even if there was, I don’t think rolling around in a tent with our entire class present is the best look.”

“I’m sure our sexy professor would see it a different way,” she insisted. “He was ready to devour you whole and I, for one, wouldn’t have cared as long as you finally got laid after that poor excuse for an ex-boyfriend.”

“Shhhh,” Caroline growled. “Talk about indiscreet, Kat, I think they heard you in Australia.”

“You know how much I hate learning so please give me something good to bring back from this trip,” Katherine pleaded. “Someone has to get laid if I can’t.”

8 hours later...

A hush had settled over the camp as they succumbed to sleep in the early hours of the morning.

Caroline was wide awake. Her mind taking her back to his vivid description of the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. Not that he needed words given the view.

Katherine was MIA as she attempted to get some sleep but was failing miserably. Caroline figured it was due partially to the gorgeous, French exchange student and her hopes of hot professor-student sex.

Caroline was so not going there.

She had an impressive GPA and no one was going to meddle with her grades. Or her plans for the future.

She took astronomy as an elective to compliment her medicine degree. Caroline had always been interested in space and the solar system so couldn’t resist.

Now, it seemed she couldn’t resist her professor either.

She pushed off the covers impatiently, deciding that some fresh air might help settle her insomnia. She was dressed in her plaid, flannel pyjamas but figured no one was around to care.

The first thing she noticed was the brilliant, harvest moon that they’d been studying earlier. It was something Caroline couldn’t deny given just how impressive it looked from this vantage point.

She made her way towards the fire, the embers glowing in the distance.

“And here I took you for stripes, not plaid.” She recognised his voice straight away and it unnerved her completely. “Couldn’t sleep?”

“You clearly shouldn’t judge a book by its cover,” she shot back, trying to ignore how good he looked in sweats and a black, Beatles t-shirt in the glow emanating from the fire. ”Much like I shouldn’t judge you for that Beatles shirt.”

“And what exactly is wrong with the Beatles?”

“They weren’t the Rolling Stones,” she offered, shrugging her shoulders. “But it’s okay if you want to hold onto that.”

“Here I was thinking that I needed to teach you about astronomy but clearly popular culture is lacking too.”

It was at that point that the playful banter ceased and they were just two people who shouldn’t be standing so close together.

“I should go to bed,” he insisted, his expression telling her anything but that.

“Me too,” she agreed but her feet felt cemented to the ground. They continued their stand off in the firelight, every fiber of their being saying they needed to part ways.

“We can’t do this.” He bit out but it was barely a strangled whisper.

“I know,” she murmured, glad that he held the same view about their untoward connection. “But I finish this subject in a month and then we won’t need to coexist in the same lecture hall anymore.”

“I could be persuaded,” he replied, eyeing her closely. “But, just so you know, I won’t be seen in the company of a Beatles hater. Although, there is something you could help me with.”

“Which is?”

“How about that s’more lesson?”

“Fine. As long as you don’t insult my Rolling Stones.”

She taught him how to make the perfect campfire snack that night. But after she finished his class they experimented much more than that. Their musical tastes never changed but their feelings and sexual appetite changed for the better.

Dr Forbes and Dr Mikaelson married five years later but the playlist was still a contentious issue.

lieutenant leslie: “for any sins thou hast committed.” you already know. you already KNOW. every time i saw this film there was someone who whispered “moriarty!” the first time it was me. he’s just so tired. a lieutenant shouldn’t be in command of a company. everyone is dead. his only friends are the orderlies he forces to hang out with him in his smelly dugout because all the other officers are in bits and pieces. the orderlies are trapped. they can’t escape him. gallows humour. he just needs a rest. we love him. was absolutely checking schofield out for the majority of their scene together. i've written about how they absolutely seem to have history and i'll say it again: they do. gay

the idiot who thought it was tuesday: one of the orderlies that leslie is holding prisoner solely to bully. when no one else is around they probably cuddle while leslie has a cry and the idiot who thought it was tuesday (TIWTIWT) comforts him and tells him he can do it

private atkins: “hey, it’s alright, it’s okay.” one of the two to find scho trying to haul blake’s body along. the gentlest giant. parry’s back-up, like he looks like he’d be in charge because he’s all big and tough-looking but then weedy, hot-headed little parry is the one doing the talking and atkins is just hovering behind him being soft. loves and supports his friends. they remind me so much of an iconic cartoon duo but i just can’t put my finger on it, but you just know they’d get into mischief because of parry and atkins is just “i don’t know about this” but of course he goes along with it

private parry: “you alright, mate?” he single-handedly made everyone in the cinema jump when some random english guy suddenly spoke when no one else was supposed to be around. he’s tiny but in charge and we truly do love to see it. lowkey feral vibes. you just know he’s a little bit chaotic and snarky and he’d challenge anyone twice his size to a fight, but he’s also gentle and worries about schofield so much when he doesn’t know him at all and i Love him the very most

captain smith: “it doesn’t do to dwell on it.” the dad. the warmest, most calming dad. gives great hugs. he’s tired because he has to spend all his time trying to keep parry and cooke apart because if they ever met and conspired all hell would quite literally break out, like they’d be too powerful together and he knows it. has a cane for the aesthetic. he’s completely traumatised but he has to keep it together for personal pride and for his boys

colonel collins: “they at least could have retreated with a bit of grace, BASTARDS.” i quote him daily. he truly is just the stuff of legends. we love to see it

colonel collins’ driver: “no, sir.” if he and lieutenant gordon ever met they wouldn’t even speak, they’d just fall asleep on each other. they’re both so exhausted by their superiors. when will they be free

private rossi: “welcome aboard the night bus to fuck knows where.” we love him!!!!!! we really do love him!!!!!!! scottish. soft. he and jondalar are best friends and jondalar teases him constantly. genuinely lovely, observant, empathetic. he talks about the pointlessness and bleakness of what they’re doing when no one else dares think on it too much in case they break down and i love him for it. probably goes home to become a war poet

private cooke: “HERE, DRIVER, HOW ABOUT YOU TRY TO KEEP IT ON THE BLOODY ROAD FOR A CHANGE” ABSOLUTE feral vibes. he’s just a public menace and we love him

private butler: “alright, alright, keep your ‘air on.” i really do just love him. he’s the one who tells the story about scott and beaufoy and eventually rallies everyone together to help scho push the truck, but to me he’s better known for being the scrawny little icon with the especially prominent red x on his sleeve and the moustache who’s just so GRUMPY all the time. like why is he so GRUMPY? i love him

sepoy jondalar: “i hope you get there.” it’s recognised in the script that he did the best impersonation of beaufoy, we love to see him excelling. gentle. loves schofield with his entire heart and he’s only just met him. there are a few iconic duos in this film - scho and blake, parry and atkins, bäumer and deserving more - and jondalar and rossi are one of them

private malky: “you could do with a new set.” my FAVOURITE!!!! the script says rossi says that line but i am CONVINCED it’s malky and i will stand by that. sounds like george harrison from the beatles. a soft lad who quietly teases cooke TWICE in one and a half pages with the most bashful kinda voice. he and cooke are another iconic duo. i love him so, so much. gay. they all are but malky especially. all the gays ride in that truck, that’s why smith, The Gay Dad, chose to put scho in with them

driver: “oh, piss off.” he and cooke have an iconic dynamic and it’s only one line long. you just know cooke is always giving him shit, it’s a running gag that’s famous throughout the whole company

lauri: “chil-dren? you?” the queen of deserving more. she’s only something like 17 and she’s probably an orphan raising another orphan. if you’ve seen 1917 and don’t love her with your whole entire soul then you get shot on sight, like i literally do not make the rules. the softest, strongest girl. a lesbian

private bäumer: “ENGLÄNDER!” the king of not keeping his goddamn mouth shut. at least two people in this fandom ship him with kilgour and i am one of them. a soft twink. i love him. if he weren’t dying he would have loved being straddled by scho and i can’t blame him for that

private müller: “bäumer? BÄUMER!” the one who was throwing up. he’s like kat from all quiet on the western front, the older veteran who takes the fresh recruits under his wing. he did not deserve to lose bäumer like that and honestly the grief in his voice when he realises what’s happened HAUNTS me. i really do love him so much. he felt guilty about deserting. he had so much depth like every other character who was barely on screen for half a scene and i hope he made it out of the war and did okay

private seymour: “well he’s not one of ours.” i just love his accent, i’m sorry this one is purely selfish. but i do love him so much, he was instantly ready to LITERALLY pick scho up and just take him with them and that’s pretty iconic. like he was just going to adopt this random, half-drowned soldier who showed up out of nowhere with no rifle or helmet or pack. his now

lieutenant richards: “what the HELL are you doing, lance corporal?” my FAVOURITE secondary character. like i say that about all of them, but i love him, lauri, malky, rossi, and parry THE most. honestly has some of the most iconic moments in the whole film. that squint he does at scho after “what?”? the stuff of oscars. he loved scho so much. the fact that he so desperately wanted to believe that what he was saying was true breaks my heart. genuinely such a good person. i love him. he and captain smith are husbands and dads with a bunch of idiot children

major hepburn: “well done, lad.” he’s like, an actual disney character. like his face, his voice, they just scream disney side character. like a good version of the guy from the princess and the frog. i love him so much. he’s so kind

medical officer: “i have NO idea. move along, lance corporal” I JUST LOVE HIM!!!!! he’s so cranky!!!!! get him some scissors!!!!

001 . what is your muse’s fighting style? are they a fighter? what does their fight or flight response look like?

she doesn’t have one, katerina isn’t a fighter. she wishes she could be, but she doesn’t know what she’s doing. though she’s tired of feeling weak and helpless. so she’s definitely started taking classes on how to protect herself, not that it’ll do her any good against other supernaturals.

002 . does your muse like music? do they have a favourite artist? a comfort song/genre?

katerina loves music, always has, always will. it was always something she found peace in and when she started coming into her banshee abilities, it became more of a necessity. the music helped drown out the voices. it didn’t always work, but she’d take whatever she could get. as for her favourite artist, it changes but she feels like you can’t go wrong with halsey. her comfort song is with a little help from my friends by the beatles.

003 . what is your muse’s patronus? what animal represents your muse?

a great grey owl. “ the great grey owl patronus is cast by strong spirits who know who they are. even with a strong personality, they are capable of incredible social mimicry. this means they are capable of adapting many different personality traits. this isn’t necessarily to please others and fit in, it just allows them to socialise easier. they are charismatic and friendly, but this doesn’t always mean they are extroverted. these [ people ] are very bold. they will stand strong for what they believe in or for those they love and are very fierce protectors. it can come across as a shock seeing as how they normally camouflage their personalities in social settings. they will quickly abandon the act to defend their beliefs. ” kat wouldn’t always agree with this, but if you look past the walls she put up, one would easily see that she is (or was) this person. she is lost now on who she is, but at the end of it, she still that person that knows how to adapt. who will break out of her shell she put herself in to stand up for what is right.

GIF ONE: in this gif, this is more her reaction to first learning what she was. she didn’t handle it very well. she was shocked and then in denial and then felt guilt cause she protected someone she cared about’s death and couldn’t do anything. hearing voices and signs of death? that could make anyone go a little crazy. of course she was upset knowing it’d just keep happening.

GIF TWO: this one is both about where she at with her abilities AND where she at after all the lost she’s faced in her life. she’s not better, she’s not okay... she’s still just hurt. understanding everything hasn’t helped. in fact it’s just added more guilt to her.

GIF THREE: after everything, she’s afraid to hope for the best in things. she afraid that it’ll just hurt more when things don’t go as planned. she used to be someone who was so full of hope, but now she just doesn’t know how to be.

GIF FOUR: kat refuses to run away anymore. she wants to be strong and do better. but every now and again she needs moments to herself. to process everything and just deal with it all. she might be broken and weak (in her own eyes) but she’ll never be so much so that she runs away again.

GIF FIVE: this one is just kat (fc: danielle rose russell) and it shows her looking a little tired and upset. . . which since she lost her boyfriend is exactly how she’s been feeling.

GIF SIX: getting little to no sleep isn’t knew to her. the voices, they keep her up. she can’t always understand them and those are the worst night for her. cause she’s trying to. she’s trying so hard to learn and understand. then their are the night she does understand but the voices are just too loud and she can’t do anything. it’s too overwhelming.

GIF SEVEN: this shows how she tries to smile and put on a brave face though her pain/issue. kat struggled when coming to term with what she is... but she never shied away. she has much to learn still but she’s coping. she has to, she refuses to let her lack of knowledge cost like it did before.

GIF EIGHT: she feel very alone. her father was a drunk who never cared, her mother died in childbirth, her older brother (TW) killed him, and her boyfriend was killed protecting her.. none of her old friends talk to her. so while she’s made a couple of friends since moving to salem, she still feels like no one would miss her.

GIF NINE: this one is a no brainer for kat. the girl is clearly big into music and is often writing it or listening to it. she has an endless amount of playlists made for everything. in fact, she’s 100% the type to make someone a mix tape/cd as a gift. to her, it means more.

What were your favorite things to draw when you were a lil kid? When I was a very little kid, idk. But once I got into meerkats... I drew them like crazy. Do you think there is something with or around you, like a spirit, angel, ghost or something else? How does this make you feel? No. Imagine you’re a stranger looking at yourself. What things would immediately catch your eye? Ugh, let's not. When did you feel the most confident in your life? Probably my senior year of high school. I was happy with Jason with plans for the future together, I was doing excellently in school... I thought I was really going to go somewhere. Do you think love is needed to have good sex? For some people, no. For me, loving one another is an absolute must. Do you think, or want to, die in the city you currently live in? Fuuuuuuuck no, I hate it here. What is the strangest thing you have ever encountered? Probably when I was otw home from my doctor appointment and we passed a random guy in drag walking on the side of the street... That guy is an icon. Favourite soft drink? It's really strawberry Sunkist, but I love it to a degree I don't even allow myself to drink it, because I will fucking destroy that shit so quick. Who is the last child that you took a photo with? Mom took a picture of me holding my youngest niece Emerson because it surprised everyone; I NEVER hold babies. She crawled over to me and reached up though, so of course I was going to pick her up. How often do you wear hats? Never. Would you ever get a nature tattoo? Sure! Idk what, but I'm rather sure I'll get at leaast one. Is anyone in your family sick at the moment? No. Where do your siblings work, if anywhere? My older sister is a mammographer, and my younger sis is a social worker. Where is your favorite place to buy groceries? Wal-Mart, I guess. Who do you generally talk to the most? My mom. How many followers do you have on Instagram? I don't feel like checking. What’s the most recent music video you watched? Thoughts? "Mutter" by Rammstein. I picked a screenshot from it to draw, so I rewatched it to select one. It's a beautiful video, but also strange, which Rammstein is great at. Have you ever recorded a cover of a song? No. What makeup products are your go-tos? If I wear makeup, the bare minimum is black eyeliner. Are you going to school this year? No. I gave college as many shots as I could handle both sanity-wise and with finances in mind. I do NOT want to even ATTEMPT to imagine the debt I have after going to three different colleges and dropping out each time. What is your favorite water activity? I enjoy just kinda swimming around aimlessly, relaxing. What are your favorite video games? Okay, I talk about SH2 and SotC enough on questions like this, so I'll mention some others I really enjoy as well: the Silent Hill franchise in general, Spyro games, The Last Guardian, both The Evil Withins, The Last of Us, some Resident Evil games (the 4th in particular), etc. etc. I just love video games. Do you like jello? I enjoy the flavor, but the texture makes me squirm. When was the last time you gave someone "the finger?" Yesssss, I want to hold all the snakes. ;_; Most unique place you’ve ever been to? Uh. I guess maybe the Whirligig Park/"Acid Park" nearby us? It's just this large expanse of unique architecture that are mostly, as you guessed it, extravagant whirligigs. You've got to see it if you come to the town. I have some pictures on my deviantART if you wanna see a few pieces. If you were a superhero, what color would your cape be? NO CAPES! Have you ever slept out on your porch all night? Oh fuck no. I'd feel way, way too unsafe. Do you like horror movies? Yeah! What’s your favorite Coke product? Just normal Coke. Watergun or water-balloon war? Watergun. I don't like being hit with stuff. I have three plushies from Jason, Tyler, and Girt. My Marilyn Manson poster is also from Juan. Who’s your favorite Beatle? I don't know; I was never a big fan, so I don't know any of them as people well at all. Have you ever texted an ex whilst drunk? How’d that go? I've never been drunk, but no, I've never texted an ex because I was drinking. Do you have to stand on your tip-toes to kiss your boyfriend? I don't have one. The only instance where I had to do that was with Girt. Tall motherfucker. Have you ever been tackle-hugged? Yes. Those are the best. Have you ever rejected someone’s kiss before? Girt once tried to make out with me and I noped the fuck outta that situation. It was so fucking awkward. Is your mood or the overall tone of your day often affected by the dreams you had the night before? My nightmares definitely can. Do you think that there are any positive aspects or outcomes of suffering from a mental illness? If you have a mental illness, do you think it has changed you for the better in any way? I definitely believe my mental illnesses forced me to mature faster and also instilled a great sense of empathy in me. And don't forget emotional endurance. What is your opinion on celebrity culture and celebrity worship? Have you ever been guilty of putting a celebrity on a pedestal? Do you think it’s somehow more acceptable/understandable to obsess over certain types of celebrities (musicians over YouTubers, say) than others? At what point do you think an obsession like that crosses the line? It's dangerous and can be very blinding. An outsider could say I put Mark on a pedestal, but I've always been very aware that he's not perfect and really just another human, I just happen to love him a lot for the human he is, haha. As time's passed, my vision of him has become healthier though (not to say it ever reached the "unhealthy" threshold); it's gotten easier for me to judge him and stuff like that. I think an obsession crosses the line when you put on rose-tinted glasses to look upon someone and entirely ignore their flaws, or if you try to invade their personal lives, ex. being one of those creeps that loiter outside their houses and stuff. If you were to pursue a career in photography and had the opportunity and means to photograph whatever you wanted, what would most like to photograph? Ah, livin' the dream. If I had to choice and would be paid well regardless of focus, I would absolutely travel and photograph the local nature/wildlife. Is there a certain type of clothing (outerwear, activewear, loungewear, etc.) that you enjoy shopping for more than others? Shirts, 100%. Are you ever afraid to post your ideas, artwork, photography, etc. online for fear that they will get stolen or not credited? When it comes to OCs, yes, given that things have been stolen from me before. Photography doesn't worry me much because I don't think I'm good enough for someone to possibly want to steal it (and besides, I use a watermark), and I do the same for drawings. It's the unique characters I make I worry about being stolen if I share them. When is the last time you did something sexual? A few years back. Who is the last person you showered with, if anyone? I haven't showered with someone since I was a little kid and my younger sister and I would to conserve water. What do you think when you see roadkill on the side of the road? It really makes me genuinely sad, and I always wonder if it could have been avoided if the driver was more alert, slower, and thinking about more than the damage it could cause to their car... I enjoy photographing roadkill, brutal as it may be, out of respect for them and the desire to make their individual stories known and just kind of like, raise awareness of it. Too many people are just annoyed by hitting an animal versus more concerned. "Stupid deer," stuff like that. I sometimes worry that doing so can be interpreted as disrespect, to photograph and publish pictures of their corpses online, but I sure hope not. It's the least of my intentions. I just want people to see and care. Have you ever had an ex that just didn’t understand that it was over? Biiiitch I was that ex, 120%. But besides my situation with Jason, this was how Tyler was. I had to tell him about five thousand times to stop texting me. Are your fingernails currently short or long? They're always pretty short. Would you rather have big or small dogs? I like medium-sized dogs most. I'd have to pick large dogs between the two, though. What is your favorite sports drink? I'm not a fan of sports drinks. What was the last compliment you gave a guy? Yesterday, a guy in PHP shared two poems he wrote while hospitalized, and they were wonderful, so full of passion and emotion. I sure as hell told him they were amazing. He's going for his Master's for poetry, so he knows what he's doing for real. Does your jaw ever crack, pop, or lock? It's popped on very, very few occasions. Have you ever thought of how you would give your kids “the talk”? I don't want kids, so no, I've never thought of this. I certainly wouldn't wait for sex ed in school, though.
