Today in The Department of Before They Were Star Trek Stars: Part 2 of a double feature. There are two future Star Trek actors in this episode of Bonanza, and using all the good pictures of both of them would have made this post too image-heavy. Since one of them is in the A story and the other in the B story, I decided to split the difference. "Gift of Water" is the 21st episode of Bonanza, Season 3 (original air date February 11, 1962).
There's a drought in the area around Virginia City, affecting mostly the small ranchers, and the Cartwrights are alone among the big ranchers in wanting to help. In the B story, Ben Cartwright leads a caravan of ranchers and their cattle to watered grazing land on the Ponderosa to wait out the drought. James Doohan plays Mr. Collins, the spokesperson for the small ranchers.
Morgan’s latest children’s book, “Extraordinary Paws”, is a huge success! However, the other side of that coin for any writer is that now you’ve set your own bar very high. What’s next…? Morgan is lacking both the faith and the inspiration. But sometimes, opportunity comes knocking when you least expect it…

The Last Star Fighter premiered on July 13, 1984. The film stood out at the time for it's heavy use of early CGI and was often compared against Return of the Jedi that was still using stop motion, puppets, and matte paintings. Behind the scenes, the film was connected to the Halloween universe as its director Nick Castle played "The Shape" in Halloween, Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills, and "flasher" in Halloween Ends, and stars Lance Guest appeared as Jimmy in Halloween II and Dan O'Herlihy starred as Conal Cochran in Halloween III Season of the Witch. In the story, an alien named Centauri (Robert Preston in his final theatric role) travelled to Earth to recruit high schooler Alex Rogan (Guest), who lived in a trailer park, because he passed a starfighter test disguised as a video game. So his absense wouldn't be noticed, Centari left a Beta clone to take Alex's place and spend time with Alex's brother Louis (Chris Hebert) and Alex's girlfriend Maggie Gordon (Catherine Mary Stewart). Meanwhile in space, due to a betrayal by Xur (Norman Snow), Alex found that he and alien pilot Grig would have to use the last starfighter to fend off an invation lead by Lord Kril (Dan Mason). 4. say something nice about a ship you don't ship (it can be another ship in your fandom, a mutual's OTP, etc)
I may not ship Lawrusso, but I will say that those who do ship them can come up with some amazing AU stories for them. In some stories, I am so intrigued by the plot, characterization, and angst that I can find myself rooting for them. And Lawrusso fans can draw some beautiful fanart.
8. you hope more people will come to appreciate___ (a ship, a trope, an episode, etc)
I honestly hope more people, in all fandoms, will come to appreciate original characters. It's not easy to create full-fledged characters and find where they could fit in the story. And the OC creators put pieces of their heart and soul into their creations just as much as any writer or artist.
15. the character that always makes you smile
For The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, I'll say Jimmy and Aisha. For Doctor Who, I will say Martha Jones, Donna Noble, Jo Grant, Sarah Jane Smith, Peri Brown, the Brigadier, and Captain Mike Yates. I'm sorry, but I can't just contain myself to only one character.
