Quick lists of "Alternative" software/websites I use:
Firefox (as an alternative to Chrome): Especially for the ad blocking capability. Use on both Phone and Computer.
DuckDuckGo (as an alternative to Google): No longer the thing your paranoid uncle uses, now an actually good search engine with the lack of tracking being a plus.
Kubuntu (as an alternative to Windows 11): My current Linux Distro and the best for people leaving Windows for Linux for the first time. Also KDE is Goated now.
LibreOffice (as an alternative to Microsoft Office): Works with MS-office formats and is FOSS, great if you don't trust google but need office software.
GIMP (as an alternative to Photoshop) because fuck Adobe.
Kdenlive (as an alternative to Premiere) because again, fuck Adobe.
OpenStreetMaps (as an alternative to Google maps): Tends to update quicker and is more detailed because everything is done by volunteers on the ground.
Krita (Alternative to ProCreate): Great painting app.
Jupiter's rotation timelapse! In September 2022, when Jupiter reached its closest approach to Earth in 59 years, I did a recording of 1 hour of Jupiter's rotation. Jupiter exhibits a fast rotation, its day being only 9 hours and 55 minutes long. On the right its satellites Europa and Io are also visible.
Gampang, trus yang lebih kusuka adalah formatnya ikut enteng pake codec familiar.
Kerjaannya sih gampang, cuma load nya sekitar 30an video training singkat sekitar 2~5 menit.
Aplikasi pakai Jellyfin Client. Ngikut ama servernya Jellyfin juga. Tertarik buat bikin infrastruktur serupa. Sabi-lah ngintip dokumentasi dulu disini (https://jellyfin.org/docs/).
Untuk server sendiri, lumayan stabil buat video video code h.264 hanya saja belum dicoba jika pakai video h.265. Itu aja sih..
I've been super occupied on this video for the past week, and I'm happy to say that I've got it down, for the most part!
The video is finished, and I'll upload it later today on Vanillo to show off my progress, and since I started, I've made a change to my workflow.
I'm back on KDenlive - while Shotcut was doing good for a while, there are some aspects of it that I'm not particularly fond of. For one - text can only be used on clips and not included as a standalone source, unlike KDenlive, where you can make as many as you need and add them later. Also, organizing clips is just more comfortable on there by comparison, but the one issue I have with Kdenlive is still prominent - and it's that at random intervals, it will use up too much memory and freezes the computer as a result. I learned this when I made my first full render of the video, but was able to fix that issue by changing the number of threads used. The render came out smooth, with little to no issues. The former issue is still a problem though, and I'm working out a way to resolve it (if anyone has any suggestions, lemme know!), but other than that - my experience isn't too shabby, and I'll figure out some temporary solutions in the meantime.
subtitle editing workflow on linux is a nightmare.
kdenlive has a single subtitle track with a single subtitle position, but sane font and color selection
aegisub has no official linux build, but it can do custom positions and colors for every line individually. but it uses BGR color codes???? wtf??? also you can’t burn-in the subtitles for webm
now i’m off to try handbrake. maybe the workflow will be videos from kdenlive, custom subtitling from aegisub, and a final burn-in from handbrake
(god it’s worse, space bar is the render button?????????)
Behind the scenes look to the most recent video on my channel.
This was basically a little test run with not just Kdenlive as a video editor but also to experiment once again in how to implement 3D elements/animations into the composition.
Having almost recovered from surgery, I'm working on editing together speed paints from this year's Art Fight!

Hand Holding Pop Stickle Image from Freepik
Hand Holding Waffle Cone is AI-gen from Adobe Stock (Listen, listen, I just took the first image from Google images and source checked it later. I, somehow, didn't even commit a crime because my university library pays for students to have access to Adobe Stock. The image was so low quality I didn't even think about if it was AI or not. (Not my proudest failed attempt at stealing from the rich. /jk))

the worst documentation sin is replacing searchable, copyable, printable, permalinkable text with videos
and the worst sinners are video editor tutorialists
yes yes, the recursion is very cute, but i don't think we need a 30-second intro, splashscreen, and call to action to permanently etch your blurry workflow on a version from 2009 onto the internet forever when all i was looking for was the current keyboard shortcut to razor at the playhead
