#keeping a notebook

I started a new blog called @ontakingnotes where I post everything related to, well, taking notes.

My premise has always been that a notebook is a tool of thought. However, the socioeconomic climate today promotes the commodification of self-improvement practices such as journaling, often reducing them to what's see-able, post-able, like-able, and purchasable.

Far from being grudgy and judgemental, I am the first person to post pictures of my notes, journals, etc. I am also trying to be more thoughtful in my consumption, and in my online presence. By that I mean I am trying to be more careful in what I take or give to the (on/off line) community. But I am not self-decieving and that’s why I recognize I will probably keep sharing this kind of content, because it makes me feel good and it is also a form of self-expression.

All that is to say that although the aesthetic part of taking notes is very valuable, it is also hyper-explored. And most importantly, it is not what note-taking is all about, contrary to what retailers want you to think.

Eddie just started a live-stream so like, twelve people are watching when Steve sticks his head into the room like, “Hey, Robin and I are going to the mall. Wanna come?”

Eddie: Can’t, I got a thing

Steve: You want anything? We’re going to the bookstore because Robin says I have to ‘buy her a new book.’ *rolls eyes*

Eddie: Uh, yeah, Steve. You destroyed the book she let you borrow

Steve: It’s still in one piece!

Eddie: Baby, you did not so much as crack the spine of the book as much as you shattered it like you were Bane and it was Batman

Steve: I don’t know what that means, Eddie.

Eddie: In the comics, Bane-

Steve: I cannot handle a nerd-planation right now. I’m buying you a notebook with a mom quote on it and some stickers, okay?

Eddie: Okay.

My essentials for a solo day out

I'm watching this interview, and George and Jayden got me in tears. Like, I'm literally tearing up. But I think all the interview is so awesome, so here are some points:

I mean, common guys, the amount of "you're the best"/"no, you're the best!" interactions between these two is unbelievable, they are giving me toothache

George saying he's an overthinker but the chemistry with Jayden was something he didn't need to think about, cause since they met, it was just there.

Jayden saying that now it feels like they have been friends for longer than Edwin and Charles. And also, mentioning the fact they were asked if they had worked together before when they knew each other for like a week.

"I'm not gonna say it was annoying—how well they get along (...)" I just know that it was annoying, like you're no lying to me, sir. They were annoying af.

George talking about Edwin's Confession: "(...) What it's great about that moment, is that it offers the best case scenario—which I would say for queer characters on screen— you don't offen see. There's often a nice dose of trauma mixed in there."

Steve about the confession: "(...) That moment need to happen in the stairs in hell. (...) Edwin didn't know if they were gonna get out so he didn't know how many chances he was going to have, and I also don't think that he believed he would have the courage to say it if they made it back"

Jayden saying he meant it when he delivered the "you're the only person I would go to hell for" line, due to how close George and him are.

George research about Boarding School culture for Edwin included things as fives and riding horses, he also mentioned hunting lmao

What they said about all the cast and the way they work together, it's too much to put it here, but my god, it's sounds so cool [27:12]

"Look, every gay man had identified with every final girl in a slasher film for the entirety of history. Like we know what it's like to live that life" [!]

Steve saying that he wouldn't have written an autistic character and put an actor whose not part of the spectrum to play it, and adding that Edwin's personality traits are a consequence of his upbringing (his mother never touched him with an ungloved hand) and the fact he lives in kind of his own little bubble. Yes sir, that just confirmed this to me in a hundred different levels.

Dear diary,

Yesterday, Jeeves let me cradle his face in these hands of mine. This might not seem like much but allow me to paint the full picture here. Quite frankly, I've had a few opportunities to hold this brilliant lemon before, whenever the poor thing was burning up with fever and whatnot. But, until now, I had never quite noticed how... soft Jeeves is. In that moment, with both hands on his map drowsy with sleep, I felt like I was being trusted with the most precious loaf of bread in all of England. No wonder; he's Jeeves after all. I mean to say, even in the wildest thunderstorm, you wouldn't catch less than fresh-faced and rosy-cheeked! It's a mystery how he does it, really.

But what I'm getting at is that I am only telling you this now because, for one simple reason, I couldn't tell you right away, or else I would have—Jeeves knows how no force is too great to try and stop me from jotting down a few notes on paper for later use in my books. No, you see, I couldn't because we were both getting ready for our respective beauty sleep, which meant only one thing: if I wanted to be the little spoon this time, I had to avoid any hesitation and nosedive in the sheets before Jeeves did, and lounge invitingly—as much as the willowy Wooster frame could—as to leave no room for arguments. One can enjoy doing the fulfilling act of embracing but one can also desire one's corpus to be enveloped by warmth itself, what. I didn't get to say as much right then though because, to my surprise, Jeeves had already followed me without a word and wrapped his arms round me. Directly, I felt like the happiest pillow on earth, as any pillow would be while being so firmly held and loved. But, again, I did not voice the thought; I simply let myself melt into the arms of Jeeves.

So, you see, there could possibly have been no time to grab a pen and fill you, dear diary, in on the whole binge.

But our notebooks give us away, for however dutifully we record what we see around us, the common denominator of all we see is always, transparently, shamelessly, the implacable “I.” We are not talking here about the kind of notebook that is patently for public consumption, a structural conceit for binding together a series of graceful pensées; we are talking about something private, about bits of the mind’s string too short to use, an indiscriminate and erratic assemblage with meaning only for its maker. And sometimes even the maker has difficulty with the meaning.

My ducktales swap au

This is actually a remake of my old swap au from two years ago. The triplets are swap with Webby May and June, Della is swap with Scrooge, Donald is swap with Beakley, and Daisy is just Daisy. Although I won't show the adults in this post cause I'm still working on their designs.

In this one Webby is now thr biological daughter of Scrooge although I'm not sure if I'm gonna change that or not. She's now the brains of the group. Often takes charge and is a huge nerd. A part of the junior woodchuck alongside her sisters. Because she is no longer a clone her name is April here to match with her sisters' name.

She honest doesn't change much in this au because she was always really smart. Just in here she never goes into spy training. And isn't socially awkward. Although she still is very excitable and definitely takes up a lot more responsibilities as she now grows up with two younger sisters.

I quickly had a design for May but the thing I struggle was that since she is swap with Dewey she is now the guts of the group. So then I was trying to figure out her characteristics here while still trying to keep her as May. I already had April and June figured out but May I did have some difficulties with. And I still unsure with.

But I was thinking what makes Dewey the guts of the group? Obviously, it's his bravery, actions before thinking mindset, and impulsiveness. So then how could I transform that to May without her just being a second Dewey. Bc that's the difficulty of making this au. I don't want it to be a carbon and paste just with the characters swapping.

I want them to still be themselves just with their talents swap? I hope I'm making sense.

Also May and June don't have any actual personality in the show, I mean if you look hard enough you will be able to see what differentiate them from each other. But there still isn't enough to go off by besides fully analyzing the episode and vibes alone.

I'm not sure if maybe instead I should have her a reserve character who is the guts of the group not because she is really brave but because she grows to be brave? Or someone who doesn't care about the danger if it helps her write the next scene for her book or find the next landscape to draw/paint. Idk yet I'm still working on her character.

I originally just had June with a shirt and short but it looked a bit too basic compared to her sisters so I changed it a little. Making her shirt into an oversize sweater. And leggings underneath her shorts. I struggled way less with June compared to May. Because I already had this idea that with her being the charmer of the group. She would definitely use that charm for good and help convince many people into putting their money into charities.

Just like Louie she won't be a bug fan of adventures not finding how she fits in into this. Not being an action type of girl and would rather volunteer at the animal shelter.

Huey goes by Huey Vanderquack here. I didn't change much of his design. I just gave him the blue vest Webby wears. Donald is a spy in this au, so he finds Huey whole trying to stop fowl and takes him in as his own. Claiming he's his uncle and that his mom, Bella, is his cousin. A nod to how Della in the short film was Donald's cousin instead of sister, and her name was Dumbella.

Anyways, here Donald would teach Huey self-defense and instead of being Della's son, he's her clone. He is more socially awkward here as he takes Webby's fate of being in the manor his whole life without any contact with kids his age.

He is the fist of the group and is still obsessed with the jwg. He is the Webby to May's Dewey. And helps her find out what happened to her dad.

He is also overwhelmed easily, only because Huey is somebody who struggles with change and meeting three kids and his whole life now changing would definitely be a huge change for him, a good change, but still a lot to take in and adapt to.
