hello! okay going to start off easy: what's your favourite bird & how did you first find out about it?
Hi!! My favourite bird is easily the Eurasian Bittern (Botaurus stellaris), and I'm so glad you asked this question because they mean the world to me.
In the country I'm from, bitterns are extremely rare compared to the rest of Europe, and at one point were even extinct here due to a mixture of hunting and the draining of their marshland habitats in order to make way for agriculture. However, one part of this country became a stronghold for these birds (and is where the bulk of their population still resides to this day, with less than 250 breeding males in the whole country). I visited a reserve there when I was only 5, and saw one only a meter away from me. They're one of the most unusual and beautiful looking birds here, and to be so close to such a rare animal is still my most treasured experience birdwatching.
I'd always sort of known they'd existed (long term bird spinterest says hi! so does making bird noises before learning to talk!), but the experience of seeing one in real life solidified it for me. I'm definitely going to a write a proper little post about these guys at some point, as they're super neat, but if you want to find out about them yourself, I'd recommend just listening to their booming. It's terrifying when you're out on the marsh alone in fog.

Ok I was challenged by the lovely @saiyanprincessswanie thank you so much babe.
I would say my 2 fav pieces of mine are
Ordinary People - this one is on the longer side (for me) and it had a lot more depth to it the. Anything I'd written prior. Most of the pieces K wrote before this were short and sweet but this was the first piece where I wrote a conflict and resolution so that was really hard but super rewarding once it was all finished!!!
And then of course there is Sugar & Spice which was my very first foray into smut. I wrote this for a challenge for our favorite hoe and shameless queen @stargazingfangirl18
It was super fun to write and even more fun seeing the response to it. And I of course loved joining the ranks of shameless hoes on here! 😈💖
So yes those are my top 2 so far stay tuned cause I have a couple pieces that I'm working on that I'm really, really excited about and can't wait to share with you guys!!!!

hello!! i saw the tags on your pinned post abt how shoujo wasn't just romance and it got me curious bc i've read some nice shoujo but really dislike romance-heavy plots. are there any shoujos you like that don't have much or any romance in them? ty and i hope you have a good day! 💛
Oh, there are lots of mangas that are classified as shoujo and don't have romance!!
I am just now beginning my journey through shoujo as well, so I don't have a lot of recommendations for stuff I actually read, but the ones I did read or watch so far are:
Natsume Yuujinchou and basically anything else by its author, Yuki Midorikawa. Sometimes, her works do include romance, but the focus is almost always in the interpersonal relationships and the difficulties her characters go through in life. NatsuYuu is about an orphan boy who can see yokai, and for that reason he acts in "weird" ways and his foster families dislike him, so he keeps going from family to family. The story is about how he finds a good family who accepts and loves him, makes friends, and learns to make friends even with yokais.
There are currently 6 anime seasons out, and a 7th season is on its way, so you can either read the manga or watch the anime.
Tumblr media
Akatsuki no Yona - i mean, this one does include romance, but i'll still put it on the list because as far as the anime went the focus is heavy on Yona's actual journey to gather the dragons of legend to be able to recover the kingdom that was stolen from her. It shows how Yona goes from a sheltered spoiled girl to a person befitting the title of dragon king.
Tumblr media
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom - this one is the og villainess isekai and it truly deserves the hype. It is about a girl who wakes up in the child body of the villainess of her favorite otome game. She remembers that the villainess' fate in the game was always either death or exile, so she tries her hardest to change her fate. This one is classified as a reverse harem, but the main character is pretty oblivious and worries more about farming and eating sweets and generally being the best girl ever than actually worrying about romance. Aro ace queen tbh. And her harem is just happy to be with her and be dragged along for her stupid adventures. Plus, the female members of her harem are taken seriously as well, Mary is a raging lesbian and it is not subtext. I mean, it is a shoujo, so of course the female characters would be important lol.
Tumblr media
Usagi Drop - listen to me. You will absolutely not look for anything related to this manga. If you like the premise you can watch the anime. But, please, do not look for the manga. You will only be extremely disappointed by it. That being said, I recommend the anime. It is about a man who returns home for his grandfather's funeral and then finds out his grandfather had an illegitimate daughter who has now become an orphan. He ends up having to take care of her because the rest of the family considers her a shame to the family.
Tumblr media
Now, for the stuff I havent seen yet, I'll just write some that are on my "plan to read" list and put their genres next to their names so you can check it out if you think the genre's sound interesting:
7 Seeds (drama, horror, psychological, sci fi, survival)
Requiem of the Rose King (drama, historical, supernatural, gender identity)
Basara (drama, fantasy, adventure) (i think this one has romance, but from what i've heard, the main character's story is a lot deeper as she takes her brother's identity in order to fight against the king who killed her brother, it is pretty famous and considered a classic)
Ghost Hunt (horror, mystery, psychological, supernatural)
Helter Skelter (horror, psychological)
My Stepmother and Stepsisters aren't Wicked (comedy, historical, slice of life)
Ikoku Nikki (drama) (this one is the one i'm currently most interested on, i hear it's about a distant woman who's never had a good relationship with her sister and now has to take care of her teenage niece because her sister died)
Itsuwari no Freya (crossdressing, historical)
Limit (drama, psychological, school) (this one sounds incredible tbh, on a field trip their bus gets into an accident and only 5 girls remain, having to learn to survive and trying to assert themselves over one another because they hate each other.)
Machida-kun no sekai (school)
Mitarai-ke, Enjou suru (drama) (the main character wants to infiltrate the household of the family who blamed her mother for a fire, in order to prove her mother's innocence)
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You (comedy)
Uramichi Oniisan (comedy, showbiz, workplace)
Usotoki Rhetoric (mystery, historical)
Don't Call It Mystery (mystery)
If anyone has more things to recommend I would also love to hear about it!!

So Everything Everywhere All at Once huh
[through a mouthful of my own blood] yeagh. i'm actually so normal about this movie [i trip and fall and a bunch of scenes fall out of my pockets]
additional thoughts and infodump below the cut lol!
No, but genuinely, this film is so fucking incredible!
Tumblr media
And I'm glad to see we're on the same page, 'cause I every time I watch this movie, I also spend the last 15-20 mins weeping uncontrollably lol
There are so many facets of it that make me feel as though my heart is clawing its way out of my chest: The enduring message of hope and resilience and compassion—that nothing matters on a cosmic scale, and that things are going to knock the air out of our lungs and leave us reeling with pain. But we create meaning. We are not alone and we are not fundamentally unloveable or worthless or wrong. And we are deserving of care and for people to try to understand and SEE us.
Tumblr media
It also (imo) deals with depression and suicidality in such an evocative and important way. Jobu's apathy and exhaustion is so relatable. And the scene where Evelyn reaches into the bagel to pull her daughter back from the precipice of self-destruction? Instant tears. Sobbing uncontrollably.
Tumblr media
I also really love the way it subverts the notion of masculinity as something that is emotionally closed-off and dismissive. Waymond is a hero by virtue of his compassion and gentleness (Pop Culture Detective has a really good video on the topic here)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course, the mommy issues. A woman traveling through all of time and space—ripping a hole in the side of the universe—just to get her mother to see and accept her? To have someone understand her? Painfully relatable. Send help.
Tumblr media
I could go on, but it's pretty late here and my brain is starting to power down (also I don't want to clog up my mutuals' dashes lol). SORRY anyway thank u for this ask, i LOVED it ajskjfskdgds

For the reverse ask game: Kes
Thank you for the ask! This one’s easy because I genuinely love Kes. I love how kind she is – and how her kindness isn’t generally framed as naivete but instead is an active choice. I love how open to accepting the personhood of others she is – like the Doctor. But also, I love how weird she is. I love how fascinated she is by everything in the world – even the parts of it that might seem strange or uninteresting to others. I love that she enjoys watching autopsies. I love the weirdness of the Ocampa in general – their alien biology, and the way that their short lifespans fundamentally change how they relate to time. I love that Kes isn’t content to live the peaceful, confined life of the rest of the Ocampa – that she leaves behind her home without question to see the rest of the universe and that she never loses that desire to push beyond the barriers of the known and acceptable. I love how strong and determined and resilient she is. I love how she comes to feel more and more like a force of nature locked inside a small body. I love her relationship with Tuvok so much – one of the most underrated relationships in Voyager in my opinion. Kes is such a fun character to me, and I’ve never understood why a lot of people dislike her.

hey what was that thing you said about hang ‘em high and 2 guitars fucking each other. i’ve been listening on repeat and i’m hearing it but now i can’t find the post
you may be thinking of these two wonderful posts by @weaponsofclairvoyance which come directly after one another for very good reason lmaoo.
Tumblr media
when i reblogged the first one before i saw the second, hang em high was one of the first songs i mentioned, and i've literally used both "dogfight" and "trainwreck" to describe that song before...and those are not coincidences lol. one of ray-and-frank's biggest strengths is making music that's as emotionally evocative as the lyrics and serves the purpose/meaning of the song. mcr does sometimes play with juxtaposing dark lyrics and upbeat music for a specific effect (e.g. headfirst for halos), but hang 'em high is a brilliant example of form matching content, of every element in a song fitting perfectly together - only in this case, they fit perfectly together in the way two cars might after a high-speed crash, twisted hideously out of shape but seamlessly into one another. gerard's vocal performance is out of this world but he wouldn't sound as mad or desperate without those guitars fucking nasty underneath him lol. their parts on the verses are in constant tension with each other - there are moments of mismatched rhythms so it feels like one of them's trying to speed up and moments where one of them's out of key so it sounds dissonant, but it's all done intentionally. so then when they all crash together (vocals drums and bass too - honestly the drums on this track fucking rule) at "don't stop if i fall" it hits you Right in the chest.
^one of the best things this band has ever written, it should be impossible for 45 seconds to be that powerful.
anyway electric guitar is such a versatile instrument on its own so with dual guitars the possibilities are endless and ray and frank are just. my favourite partnership ever i can never shut up about them. if you couldn't tell lol.

Sharmaji (Not Namkeen)
Naam to suna hi hoga (a million apologies for any of the self entitled Sharma's you might have encountered...) Technically speaking intro dena humko aata nahi kyunki hum hai distracted ultra pro max insaan. Bakte bakte kab kahan kis tangent pe nikal jate humko khudko pata nhi hota. The thing is don't be surprised if you randomly find words that don't make sense (they do, just not to you) cause I'm a multilingual insaan with a few words of lotsa languages thrown into my vocabulary making a right khichdi of words and feelings up there. But then again sometimes I don't even understand what's going on up there myself so we can drink to that. (I don't drink. We'll be getting high on jaljeera and air)
As for this blog, it's a metaphysical (is that the right word?) representation of me (I guess?) Not really sure. Definitely this insanity is a part of me. But is not all of me. I mean agar khudko utna accha se jaan hi liya hota to phir zindagi me confusion thori hota. Chale gye hote hum bhi kahin pahado me zindagi ke sach ki khoj me. As for the people I have met here. They are downright amazing. Maane kya hi bataye. Simp karna ho, ya laash thikane lagane ke upaay dhundna ho, they will have my back. (Oh and don't even think of hurting them, you won't just regret it but regret your entire existence. And that's a fucking promise)
Wanna read me turn Lilac's brain children into psychologists horror?
Compromised . Chapters : One, Two, Three.
To coming to the reason why me actually went ahead made this intro post... My tags:-

I saw some of your posts earlier and just wanted to say it's alright, these are hard times and even harder events, the important thing is that you are trying
Your works brought me a smile on my face so many time and I hope that I can cheer you up even if just a little from all the time your words brighten my day, have a good day!
Thank you. I'm mostly hoping people can recognize that I'm doing my best to approach all this with a sense of ethics and consideration of implications. On this specific topic, I'm not trying to convince people that I know the correct answer, or even that they should agree with me, but rather to step back and think things over in ways they might not have before; there are a lot of lenses through which to view this, and many of those lenses have a vested interest in convincing people of their viewpoint.
It's what I've been trying to do, and why I've been willing to adjust my thinking on some things (see: that ask with a tiktok about Yemen). I think that if we are to have productive conversations on these things, we need to be willing to take that step back. Some of it might seem really obvious, but then it might be less obvious to other people, or it's something that only seems obvious because an element hasn't been taken into account...
There's something painfully destructive about getting told off for trying to do the learning and thinking that is key to being a better person and also to the activism we're hopefully trying to strive for.
(I'm also immediately suspicious of any post with a Specific Tone that seems geared to jumpstart my emotional outrage response so I skip the fact-checking. I do still get some of that fact-checking wrong, but I do at least try to do it. Sometimes I just don't reblog, but sometimes it's egregious enough, or at least seems egregious enough, that I just go off to rebuttal with what numbers and news I can locate. Sometimes I'm in the right, and sometimes I'm mistaken, but... it's better than consuming information without thinking to check it at all, right? And unfortunately, the posts that appeal to emotion are the most likely to make a person skip past the fact-checking stage.)
I'm glad you like my fics!

General thoughts about the state of superhero movies at the moment? :D
Well, a hot take it ain’t, but they have a problem, and the problem is not superhero movies in specific, it’s the movie industry. It’s the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Churning, it’s the promise of Batman: More, and Captain America: Plodding New Content.
Throw the entire cinematic universes out the window, slash the budgets, let filmmakers make movies again. If some of them are about superheroes, even specific superheroes for the nth time, great (Spiderverse)! But the endless sludge of AI-generated IStandForNothingMan 256B is just exhausting, and that’s even when you just watch the gifs on Tumblr.
