— STYLING !
Tumblr media
aaaahhh she looked so COOL !
there was so much 2000s inspo like kaori was on a mission girl
and when i say kaori i do it mean it ! she had a huge hand in the styling during this era (and in pretty much every era afterwards skiwjsjs)
she wanted the styling to reflect how she actually dressed, and damn didn’t it make her a fashion icon !
there was a lot of gyaru elements, and a lot of inspo from the scene subculture and the rave scene of the 00s, too
her motif this era was a lot of stars ! star shaped piercings, fake tattoos, stars incorporated into her makeup,, the whole 9 yards mhm !
due to her age at the time, there was a lot of altering school uniforms to made them appear trendier, too
one of her outfits for her tour even made her look like a sailor ! so snsd coded !
bright colors ! sooooo many bright colors ! lots of glitter and gems and stickers, and a lot of bicolored stuff ! pink / blue and pink / yellow were thee combinations during this era !
like they did the color combos a LOT when it came to kaori’s makeup
and speaking of her makeup, it was adorable ! lots of pigmented eyeshadow, glitter, stars drawn on her eyes, gems used, etc
sometimes her stylists would put gems in the corners of her eyes or even on her eyebrows !
they would dye them a lot, too shehjd
there were also lots of colored hair extensions used, too ! there were tassels too like just adorable
all in all, very cute styling wise ! we got a lot of miniskirts, mini dresses, crop tops, matching lil sets, cropped button downs, stiletto / platform boots, juicy tracksuits, capri / cargo jeans, fishnets, over the knee stockings, big layered belts, wallet chains, layered / beaded jewelry, camo print, sequins, teeth gems, and star-shaped hoop earrings, the “chōnmage” hairstyle, and fingerless gloves definitely became three of kaori’s signatures !
like she literally started trends in japan hwjsowke
Tumblr media
— ERA HIGHLIGHTS !
oh her debut made waves !
because girl lemme tell you it was like namie amuro’s sweet 19 blues all over again
since kaori was already popular as an athlete, actress, and internet personality, her album was bound to blow up
her debut single was a hit ! it debuted at no. 2 on the oricon charts, and it got kaori her first entry into the billboard hot 100 ! selling over 90,000 units, it ended up debuting at no. 86 ! nothing too special, but it was HUGE for a freshly debuted artist from japan
ofc, as expected for an upcoming idol, kaori did a LOT this era
she was all over japanese tv,, doing interviews, promoting her singles on music station, appearing on variety shows, on the covers of teen magazines,, like girl she was doing it ALL
she even had some promos abroad ! one of her singles (“yeah-oh”) was in english, so she promoted it on american tv !
kaori was on total request live, good morning america, she had an interview on the tonight show,, she was even on good mythical morning AND she was on the cover of elle magazine
she got to meet nicki minaj and kesha too and girl when i tell you that she DIED,, like she’s loved nicki since pink friday and kesha’s music was her entire personality don’t play !
she went to a few music festivals too ! she had a set at wango tango and at lollapalooza
oooo girl and get this,, she even promoted in korea SJIWJSNS
she was a guest on running man for an episode, and she even had a brief mc gig on inkigayo !
her running man ep was SO well received like she was hilarious
but if her variety show appearance didn’t endear her to the korean gp, then her cover of lee hyori’s “10 minutes” definitely did !
ofc she went to a bunch of award shows and won a bunch of awards,, she performed at the mtv vmas in both japan AND america, she was at the bbmas in japan, she attended the amas and the wmas, and she even performed at mama !
the pics she took with kara, sistar, and 2ne1 were everywhere !
she won her first japan record award for best new artist, which is literally the equivalent of a grammy in japan
kaori also went on a tour across asia ! it started in june and ended in september, and there were some extra dates added in america in november !
but the best part of this era ??? she opened for namie amuro’s dome tour
like girl that was INSANE ! namie is literally kaori’s idol and if her debut didn’t already get her out there, then opening for namie DEFINITELY did
she met koda kumi, too !
her hair was black for most of 2012, but during the american leg of her tour, she dyed it dark brown !
all in all, incredible era ! SO much happened when she was only a rookie (AND when she was 16-17 and still in school, at that), so everyone knew that her career from then on was going to be nothing short of iconic !

What did you think of Gag Order?
Oh god, I love it.
And, as per usual, when I love something, I write a damn essay about it. The shortest version: this is going to be my album of the year. I think it's Kesha's masterpiece.
It's definitely Kesha's most mature and vulnerable album yet. It reminds me a lot of If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power by Halsey, in that they both deal with a lot of reflection, confronting their self-loathing, finding faith. But while I think IICHLIWP is ultimately Halsey's story about finding faith in love and in themself, Gag Order is about Kesha seeking answers and surrendering to something else.
It's powerful, nameless - and hard to resist wanting to follow her when she cries out for it. Some might call it "god," but I think that, while she does name-drop some religious figures, she's not really talking about any specific religion or belief system.
But I also think this album is about Kesha struggling with the darker parts of herself. Rainbow and High Road were so much about finding peace and acceptance, forgiveness and redemption. Even when she explored darker topics or her trauma, it was couched in this (probably necessary) optimism and positivity that acted as a wall between the painful truth and our perception of her. Maybe even her perception of herself.
I don't think she was willing or ready, for whatever reason, to fully leave the "Tik Tok"/"Die Young"/"Blow" party-queen of the early 2010s behind. Both Rainbow and High Road have had multiple party anthems on them, even if they were more grown up and less focused on youthful recklessness than the songs on Animal and Cannibal.
But the closest thing Gag Order has to a party/dance anthem, the kind Kesha is most known for, is "Only Love Can Save Us Now." And while it starts with a really aggressive, thumping (fun!) beat and the verses feature that iconic Kesha kinda-rap (her words, not mine,) the chorus bursts out in this incredible, gospel-esque belting chant of Kesha begging god to save her. And the music shifts from a dance/club beat to an acoustic guitar and a gospel choir arrangement.
It's so powerful, and while I go nuts to it, it definitely is a far-cry from songs like "Die Young" and "Blah Blah Blah," or even "Woman" and "Tonight."
It's not a song about partying. It's a song about surrender.
The same themes are echoed in songs like "Eat the Acid" and "Something to Believe In." Kesha was reckoning with some dark shit, and she found herself seeking something more. I don't know if she always liked what she found, or enjoyed the process.
As a result, it's also definitely Kesha's saddest album. She's had one or two sad songs on every album ("The Harold Song," "Dancing with Tears in My Eyes," "Resentment," "Father Daughter Dance," etc) but this record has at least four, depending on how you interpret them.
"Too Far Gone," "The Drama," "Living in My Head," "Fine Line," and "All I Need Is You" are all pretty sad, definitely more slow-tempo and ballad-y. And "The Drama" is the only one that ends with any sort of tongue-in-cheek humor.
That protective armor, the silly party-queen persona, is almost non-existent on this album. And as a result, this is Kesha's best work yet.
And I love party-queen Kesha, don't get me wrong!! I've loved Kesha since the beginning, I never had a moment where I didn't. I talk a lot about Halsey being the artist that changed pop music for me, but Kesha came before. There's no world where I listen to Halsey without Kesha. (God, y'all, I think I'm realizing how much she means to me writing this, lmao.)
The hopeful songs are definitely there, like "Hate Me Harder," "Happy," and "Peace and Quiet." But even those have a melancholy to them.
Sonically it's also really different. Not just the instrumentation, although that's a big part of it. It's more trance-y, industrial, kind of psychedelic, and the vocals involve more chanting and repetition. She's also using her voice in a really cool way, often more like an instrument than just a way to convey the lyrics.
The vocalizations in "Peace & Quiet" and "Living in My Head" are really novel, and I've never really heard her sing like that before. She started out singing as a yodeler, and I think people always underestimate her voice. It's stronger and more interesting than ever on this record.
I also really liked how she used the repetition of "you don't wanna be changed like it changed me" as a rhythm element in "Eat the Acid."
This album is definitely a departure from anything she's ever done, and I think it's going to have a mixed reception as a result. "Only Love Can Save Us Now," the closest thing to a party song, is already quickly becoming the most popular one on the album. A lot of them haven't even cracked 1mill plays on Spotify yet. (I'll get them there by myself dammit.)
But, if you ask me, it's a no-skip album. I think Kesha's first.
This is so long, and although I could absolutely keep going, I'll stop now. But I'll go deeper into my album ranking/what I think of each song if anyone asks, haha.
But yeah. Go listen to Gag Order. Unless you don't wanna be changed like it changed me.

vi or jinx?
3. A song that reminds me of them
Okay i could make an entire playlist of songs that make me think of Jinx. Maybe I should. If I had to pick just a few?
Iodine - Icon for Hire
Reaper Man - Mother Mother (it's almost as good as hayloft ii for her tbh and i like it more)
Losing his Touch - Jack off Jill (mayhaps just her voice)
Rat Queen - The Mountain Goats (that song is so about her)
Blow - Kesha (it's a date baby)
And Vi. Sweet Vi.
You're Gonna Go Far, Kid - The Offspring (don't fucking come for me i know i know i know but it does now I can't help it. It's the only one i can think of you all can tell i think about jinx more than her im sor
20. A weird headcanon
Okay okay okay i have one for Jinx that I think I've said before but if her tears are affected by shimmer then we have to believe all her bodily fluids are and all im saying is Lux is probably having the time of her life down there.
Hold on give me a second for Vi. Okay. She did her tattoos herself. She was really proud of not fucking up the one one her face.
21. When do you think they were at their happiest?
Vi gets married to Caitlyn k? That's happy. Vi gets to be happy. happy wedding day.
Jinx??? Probably after the psychotic break part. Like post arcane she's not doing well but is she ever really happy??? Maybe as a child but she's sworn that off, she doesn't exactly look back on it fondly.
Thank you for asking questions sorry i have terrible answers

Watching bop again
I kinda forgot Cass was at the roller derby game. Love how all the characters are connected
Why does Roman’s voice...sound like that
Boss Bitch is weirdly nostalgic now
I like that the whole roller derby team is wearing like. team jackets. and harleys got her whole fringe sleeves thing going on
YES LOVE WHEN SHE THROWS THE NECKLACE AWAY
The chemical plant blowing up as fireworks was a very Harley choice
“So I’ll start where I fucking want” four minutes ago
huntress huntress huntress huntress huntress
I read somewhere that this huntress and Montoya scene was one take and they just changed the lighting to show the change
romans middle name being beauvais is probably the clearest clue they could have given that he was from a rich family
Love that Renee finds the necklace and knows Harley and the joker broke up. I like this idea that superheroes/villains are kinda like celebrities in this world
The egg sandwich scene is great what more can I say
Love that there’re cars and people just living their lives in this city
It’s a crime that we never see Harley wear this glittery fanny pack
The music is really good in this
It’s neat how the line between her narration and her dialogue is blurred, like how she’ll say the first part of something in narration and the second part in dialogue
Huntress’s little flute theme
And Montoya knows Cass; c o n n e c t i o n s
Montoya’s been going after Roman, too
And now we’re flipping back to the bertinelli massacre and diamond
Even if the whole missing diamond plot isn’t that unique, everything’s woven together so neatly
And now Dinah and Renee are on the phone about Cass and the diamond
It’s all connected
Harleys whole “I’m here to report a terrible crime”—she could have just run in there but she wanted to be Dramatic
I do wish the vocals were a little louder here maybe?
Big fan of this fight choreography
Harley pausing on a frame where she’s making a weird face before rewinding to explain about the diamond—it’s so rare to ever get to see women like. making weird faces in movies. All the women in his this are gorgeous but they don’t always have to be; they look beat up after fights and get dirty and make weird faces and it’s great
Dinah singing? Exceptional
“Loans, liquidity, laundering” ah yes the three L’s of illegal business
I unironically listen to Black Canary’s man’s world.
I like that everyone just calls Dinah “Canary”
“I’m all on my lonesome. It’s great” Harleys even an unreliable narrator when she’s just talking
I’ve really never seen a movie that feel like it’s from the female gaze visually as much as this one—all the rings and earrings, the hair, the makeup, it feels like what women might fantasize about dressing like
Dinah yelling “you motherfucker!” While beating some creeps up is quality
What time of day is it? Dinah would probably be leaving early in the morning, but I Refuse to believe that Roman would be awake particularly early any morning
She either canary is leaving her nightclub singing gig in the late morning/early afternoon or roman is still awake from the night before and is going to go to sleep soon
Cass and Dinah in the same building. (Bernie voice): I am once again talking about the connections
I’ve riffed on this before but i refuse to believe that Roman can drive
This Dinah and Renee scene establishes character, backstories, and moves the plot along all at once
Jesus some of ewan mcgregor’s acting in this is painfully bad
I love that Cass has a big bomber jacket and longer, looser shorts
Jurnee’s abs wow
The lights from behind the hands with the eyes behind Harley, who’s surrounded by people and then Roman and Victor emerge from the back, whispering to each other? Beautiful
One of the grievances roman has against Harley is “constantly interrupting him, like I’m doing right now”
Harleys “you’re really not as complicated as you think” bit is almost satirical of this cult we’ve created of “complicated” white male movie villains who have massive fan followings (cough cough joker)
Interesting that Roman holds the knife to Harleys face but hands it off to Victor to do that actual cutting
Someone handed Roman a bowl of popcorn
Harleys pocket tampon
It’s diamonds are a girls best friend yeah babey!
The male backup dancers are wearing muzzles/masks (Roman has one too for a split second) is an interesting flip on the way women are typically the ones being silenced, as well as Harleys desire to silence the men around her and be the one telling and controlling her own narrative
“Hey! you’re that singer no one listens to!” “Hey! You’re the asshole no one likes!”
Harley with her glitter gun
Harleys reaction when the sprinklers go off is perfect—Margot makes her feel like a living cartoon
This cell block fight scene is a showstopper
I like that cass doesn’t immediately want to stay with Harley. It gives her some agency in a story where she’s mostly just following the curveballs life throws her
Harleys little stare straight into the camera when cass admits to eating the diamond
Harley at the grocery store really emphasizes that she’s a total weirdo
I think I heard somewhere that the pic of child Harley with the nuns is a pic of young Margot??? Not totally sure though
Cass not knowing who the joker is goes with the whole supers are like celebrities thing—cass probably follows a whole different group of them (like how most kids follow different celebrities than their parents)
Huntress huntress huntresssss
“Give me number 32. Mild”
This kid in helenas flashback doesn’t really look like she’s grow up to look like Mary Elizabeth Winstead
This filming in this flashback has so much style
Helena practicing in the bathroom mirror with her drawing and her multiple bottles of travel mouthwash
We’re in the scene where Roman makes the girl dance on the table and oh god it’s so uncomfortable
No no no no no not this hate this
Alright that nightmare’s done
“and that’s why you should never pay federal income taxes”
Harley offering to bring cass to Roman after hearing doc say “business is business is interesting
OH ITS HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT TIME
Dinahs car is yellow because it’s...canary yellow
Roman putting on the mask is cool and all but he’s just gonna have to take it back off to get changed
This Harley vs Renee fight is fun because they keep mirroring each other—they’re fighting each other, but they’re really on the same side
The way the women all kind of circle each other at first and don’t immediately get along
Cass popping up with the gun also gives her some agency—she’s at the end of her rope with the diamond and being betrayed by Harley
“I am nOT THE CROSSBOW KILLER”
The way Huntress sounds so uncertain when she says “...and now I’m done” Mary’s acting really popped off
Roman’s a bitch but I like his outfits
Helenas little smile when Harley says “you just killed his BFF”
I love how excited Harley is when they all agree to work together
Roman’s giving his little speech in the back of a pickup truck?
When all the guys turned around with masks on I got chills
“I love this chick she’s got rage issues.” “I DONT HAVE RAGE ISSUES”
Huntress stabbing the guy while going down the slide is peak cinema
This set lights up as the scene progresses and reveals more
I love love love that Helena is genuinely caring towards Cass and recognizing that children shouldn’t have to go through trauma like her
“When the fuck did she have time to do a shoe change?”
THE HAIR TIE YEAH
Forgot to mention this but it’s a stroke of genius for this place to be called the booby trap
Love me some canary cry
“Told ya she had a killer voice”
Harleys chase was a real group hurrah—the canary cry cleared the way and pushed her forward, Huntress towed her, Renee gave her the gun with one bullet
Cass and Roman are just sitting in the back seat. That must have been an awkward car ride
Cass pulling the gun away from Roman when he tries to shoot up at Harley when Harleys on top of the car is elite
Damn this is one foggy pier
When Harley starts with “your protection is based on the fact that people are scared of you” you expect her to say that it’s wrong or something but she says “I’m the one they should be scared of” this movie messed with tropes so much
That also includes the whole “one bullet” thing—Harley misses with her one bullet, and you don’t really know what’s gonna happen next
“I took your ring”
You can pinpoint exactly when Harley and Roman realize what Cass did
I’d put the entire taco scene here if I could
Renee moving the drink away from cass shows her caring side—she doesn’t want a kid to get into alcohol and make the mistakes she did
“Does she always talk like the cop in a bad eighties movie?”
Harley and Cass stealing the car is a fun way to show that she may be on the side of the good guys sometimes, but that doesn’t necessarily make her one
“Woman” by Kesha
Wow the outfits in this scene are iconic
I mean they are in the whole movie but I especially like these
Cass riding around with Harley and a hyena, wearing cute outfits and learning the ways of chaos
Harley got her sandwich!
The credit art for this movie is cool
Especially how they represent each character
In conclusion this is still my favorite movie
I know I’ve been kinda absent recently, but watching this again has really reminded me how much I love it. I got really busy but I’m going to Make An Effort to be a contributing member of the bop fandom again.

Two of the most iconic musical moments in Chuck are, when they’re all dying from a truth poison and Britney Spear’s “Toxic” is playing, and when they blow up a house to Kesha’s “Blow”. And no, you can’t change my mind

omg what's your list of songs you want Louis to cover? gurl give them all
Oops, I got your asklast week and I’m only seeing it now, sorry. But in no particular order, here’sa list, some because the lyrics remind me of him, some because his voice wouldfit so well, some because I just love the song:
Some because of thelyrics:
Sanctify (Years & Years): “Oh, and Iwon’t, and I won’t, and I won’t be ashamed“
Praying (Kesha): thewhole song but especially “you brought the flames and youput me through hell,I had to learn how to fightfor myself. And we both know all the truth I could tell, I’lljust say this is “I wish you farewell"”
If You Could See Me Know (The Script): “Take that rage, put it on a page, take that page to the stage, blow the roof off the place. I hope you’re up there with God saying"That’s my kid!”. I still look for your face in the crowd, oh if youcould see me now”
Bastards (Kesha): “I got toomany people I got left to prove wrong, all those motherfuckers been too meanfor too long.  Been underestimated my entire life, I know people gonnatalk shit, and darling, that’s fine but they won’t break my spirit, I won’t let‘em win”
You Owe Me (The Chainsmokers): “I don’treally say this that often but there’s something that the papers forgot. Everytime I read them, I know I feed them. I know they’re painting but they can’tleave a mark ‘cause my friends don’t read the papers and they don’t really careif we’re awesome or not. So every time I read them, I know I feed them but Iknow they wanna see me hang on the wall”
The Cure (Loic Nottet): “Haters forgive me if I singbut it’s my only true belief. Singing is the way that I scream in thisreality. Yes haters please forgive me, I know my voice can sound weird butmusic is my own therapy and that is all I need. With your censure and your frustration, nothing that we do is ever worthy but I don’t care if I lose my battles, I’mgiving it my all”
Dirty (LoicNottet): “I’m left standing here daring you to throw your stones”
Wait in Line(James Bay): “It’s a fight. It takes so long but I’ve learned to hold my own”
Hey LittleSister (Imany): because he’s an amazing brother who would 100% say this tohis little sisters: “You deserve the all world, and may be alittle more. Hey little sister, don’t be scared of be yourself. It’sthe only thing you are”
Homesick (DuaLipa): this one is on my list for Harry too. “You give me a reason, something to believe in I know, Iknow, I know. You give me a meaning, something I can breathe inI know, I know, I know. It’s a bittersweet feeling, longing andI’m leaving, I go, I go, I go. But I wish I was there with you”
The Climb(Miley Cyrus), all of it really but : “The strugglesI’m facing, the chances I’m taking, sometimes might knock me downbut no, I’m not breaking”
Anywhere (RitaOra): “Over the hills and far away,a million miles from L.A, just anywhere away with you. I knowwe’ve got to get away someplace where no one knows our name, we’llfind the start of something new. Just take me anywhere, anywhere awaywith you”
Mr Brightside (The Killers): becauseit’s one of my fave songs, it’s an anthem, and we know it was originally hisxfactor song SO
Still Into You(Paramore): Harry gets Still the One, and Louis gets Still Into You, sorry Idon’t make the rules
Grenade (BrunoMars): because it’s hearing the 1D cover that made me fall in lovewith his voice
Demons (Imagine Dragons): or any songs byImagine Dragons (Walking the Wire too!!!) but this one has a special place in my heart due to itsmeaning regarding mental health
Hall of Fame(The Script): ALL OF IT THAT SONG IS ICONIC AND AN EMPOWERING ANTHEM plus it’sThe Script, duh
The Fall, acoustic (Imagine Dragons): because since I’ve seen Dan on his knees cryingsinging this one acapella live, it’s been one of my favorite songs
The Phoenix(Fall Out Boy) (any song by FOB tbh I’d take anything)
And these onesI don’t even need to tell you why:
Read All AboutIt (Emilie Sandé)
Look After You(The Fray)
ILYSB (LANY)
If Our Love IsWrong (Calum Scott)
SupermarketFlowers (Ed Sheeran)
Take Me ToChurch (Hozier)
Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)
King, acousticversion (Years & Years)
Heaven (Troye Sivan)
Loving Someone(The 1975)
Don’t DreamIt’s Over (Crowded House)
The Show MustGo On (Queen)

BMTH and Amy Lee just put out this song and I've been listening to the whole EP on repeat for 2 days but this song has not stopped blowing me away, it is so fucking beautiful, I love Amy Lee so fucking much?? oh my god??? can we talk about this operatic goddess among mortals blessing us with this utterly angelic fuckin duo???????? I could yell!!!! This is so fucking good!?!? WhAt the fuck!!!! Spooky ass Coraline vibes and this came out right before Halloween !!!!! God DAMN?? Wee??? Did we deserve this????? We couldnt have asked for something so good from this shit year!!!!! This one shining ray of pure goth excellence that made it all worth it!!!! the whole rest of the year I put up with for THIS MOMENT!!! I can't explain what this song is doing to my nervous system!!!! I am phasing through many emotions like a chameleon!!!!!!!
And we had no shortage of really good new music this year, to clarify!! Evanescence has their own new stuff that is amazing, obviously, I will not hear evanescence hate here; Heartwork from the Used was a masterpiece; Hallucinations from PVRIS changing the music scene forever on behalf of all the chronically ill gays; SO much good shit. But this???? THIS?????? this is the fucking ... ! ugh! *chefs kiss* I'm speechless, actually. You can't tell because I will never, ever shut the fuck up about how good this song is, BUT ACTUALLY, I AM SPEECHLESS. (this is technically not speech fuck you)
y'all I can't go on. This is affecting me as much as if not moreso than when Kesha hit the whistle tone in Praying, like??? How do I explain??? How do I impress upon others that feeling of discovering a new series of noises that will forever be iconic and deeply exciting to me????? IDK MUSIC IS GOOD THIS SONG IS SO GOOD. THEY DID SO. GOOD!!!!!!!!

explanation of songs beneath the cut it’s gonna be lengthy as fuck
1. It’s The Fear - Within Temptation
It’s the fear of the dark that’s growing inside of me, that one day it will come to life
This song is poignantly about her childhood and developing her powers and abilities. This song is more or less self-explanatory.
2. In Our Solemn Hour - Within Temptation
In my darkest hours, I could not foresee, that the tide could turn so fast to this degree
So this song is distinctly when she is being taken to the church, and the actions that happen there. This song is a lot of her pain, a lot of her fear, and the birth of her self-loathing.
3. Monster - Skillet
This secret side of me, I never let you see, I keep it caged but I can’t control it.
So this song actually talks not only about how she sees herself, but is symbolic of the construct she creates to protect herself. Memento Mori, an illusion that grows so powerful in time, she literally cannot control it. And while it can’t do physical damage to a target, it sure as hell will feel like it.
4. Hope of Mourning - Icon For Hire
When the hope of morning makes it worth the fight, I will not be giving in tonight.
This is my anthem for when she gets on that train car and hides. For the journey from Pennsylvania to New Orleans. The pain, the fear, but she fights in that train car.
5. Moon Over Bourbon Street - Sting
I see faces as they pass, beneath the pale lamplight. I’ve no choice but to follow that call, the bright lights, the people, and the moon and all.
Sort of her song (and mine) for the city itself. She spends a year there, healing, and getting her taste for life again, but danger looks behind every corner in the city and one day it catches up to her.
6. Unchained - Blood on the Dance Floor
You try to say you’re sorry for the things you’ve done, tried to play me like a fool but I’m not one.
New Orleans was safety, salvation. Freedom, until she runs into a man claiming to work for her father. Claiming to want to bring her home. So she fights and fights, and realizes what she is. What she’s shown herself to be. So she has to run.
7. Hold Me Down - Halsey
I sold my soul to a three-piece, and he told me I was holy, but now he’s got me on both knees.
Freedom comes at a price. And for Autumn, no price is too great. She gets her first taste of the world’s cruelty.
8. My First Kiss - 3OH3! - Feat Ke$ha
Your kiss is like whiskey, it gets me drunk.
Strangely enough, this song is about when she meets Victor. The intoxicating affair that is their first meeting is her answer to salvation again, safety behind the gunman.
9. & 10. “Fuck Me” Eyes & Boss Bitch by Millionaires
Show me your money and take a shot, shot, shot. & And I’m better than the rest of you.
Both songs symbolize the absolute fall into debauchery and sin that her life becomes. Sex, drugs, alcohol and murder. Life’s a big ass party and she’s going to enjoy it.
11. Pour Me - Hollywood Undead
One more drink then I swear that I’m going home, truth is I have no where to go.
Life may be a party, it may be fun, but damn if it isn’t sad. Lonely. Empty. There’s no love in her life. It’s a life on the run, and without Victor, she wouldn’t know where her next meal came from or where she goes to sleep at night.
12. Everywhere I Go - Hollywood Undead
So just keep buzzed and keep this party rockin’
Bury the pain with a drink and fuck it all away. When they got to Chicago, it was a tribute to Bacchus himself.
13. Mad Hatter - Melanie Martinez
I’m peeling the skin off my face, ‘cause I really hate being safe.
The song for when she met Eric. Her Mad Hatter. If she was Alice, he fell into the role so easily. Her White Rabbit tried so hard to warn her. He’s a dangerous man, look at those eyes. Oh, but she loves the idea of danger.
14. Blow Cirkut Remix - Ke$ha
It’s time to kill the lights and shut the DJ down
Chicago is Life and Death for her, but first and foremost it is life. Heavy and hard, she lives. For the first time since running away, she lives.
15. Crazy Kids - Kesha
Tonight we do it big, and shine like stars. We don’t give a fuck ‘cause that’s just who we are.
For a while, she, Eric and Victor dominate the underground club circuit. Everyone knows Alice, her Rabbit and her Hatter. Like miniature gods; and she revels in the glory.
16. Party At A Rich Dude’s House
If you wanna go let me know, we’re gonna fight till we do it right.
Anthem for a particular job that was a harrowing experience for her. She learned that day to never look behind the curtain.
17. Turn Me On - Nicki Minaj
My body needs a hero, come and save me.
Oh, Eric thought he was the only one. But when she finds herself spending the night at a guy’s house, there’s the risk of a “something more” feeling and he doesn’t stand for that.
18. Call Me Master - Blood on the Dance Floor
You are my slave, my little fucking disaster, I am your god.
Eric changes, almost overnight. He is dominating, controlling. She will do nothing without his permission ever again.
19. La Petite Morte - Blood on the Dance Floor
Every little touch brings me closer to death, open up and suck out my last breath.
Eric’s snap shakes her to her core. It is sudden and he is violent in ways no one has been with her before. He leaves her for dead instead of finishing the job.
20. I Don’t Wanna Die - Hollywood Undead
I don’t wanna die, I don’t wanna die, so you’re gonna have to.
There’s only one way to survive. Faking her death, again. Twice dead, and close to the edge again, she narrowly escapes death’s cold fingers and her father’s grasp.
21. Blow Deconstructed Mix - Kesha
Backdoor cracked, we don’t need a key
There’s a darkness over her life, robbing her of all the joy she felt alongside Victor. She clings to it because it is all she knows.
22. Warrior - Kesha
We’re the ones who flirt with danger,
Having survived two events now where she should have died, Autumn feels strong. And with her new arm, she is stronger than ever before.
23. Loveotomy - Blood on the Dance Floor
Leaving memories behind, erasing you from my mind.
Autumn would do anything to forget her father and Eric, to wipe them from her mind. Born again in the streets of New York, she calls herself Mistress Myth.
24. & 25. Take it Off -  Kesha &Floor & S.H.A.M.E. - Wizard AyePee
Again, she tries to reclaim the joy she felt with Victor. Parties, alcohol, drugs, but she’s working alone. And the loneliness is more painful than ever.
everything past this is personal canon

TOP TRAX: KESHA'S LONG ROAD TO THE HIGH ROAD

You don't have to be a fan of Kesha's music to appreciate all the good she does for the LGBTQ community, the environment, women's rights and any other worthy cause in need of a loud voice or a strong hand to push the needle. Even before her very public legal battle against Producer Dr. Luke, the outspoken queen of white-girl rap never thought twice about standing up against the bullies of the world; a quality you'd probably never expect from the girl who spelled her name with a dollar sign and gave us party anthems like "Tik Tok," "Blow" and "Die Young" off her first two albums. Still, even with all that passion fueling the fire inside her, it just wasn't enough to win her own fight.
After being defeated in the courtroom, the bruised and battered singer did what any self-respecting artist would do. She picked herself up, locked herself in the recording studio and took her frustrations out on her next album. On Rainbow, Kesha put the glitter back in the bottle, dropped the dollar sign, and traded unapologetic party anthems for girl-power battle cries ("Woman") and introspective mantras ("Praying"). While we celebrated her long-awaited return to the spotlight and cheered her sudden lane change, there was still a part of us that missed the unfettered earworms that once called us to the dance floor begging for drunken karaoke.
Lucky for us, the 32-year-old songwriter heard our vodka-soaked cries and has gone back to her dirty pop roots on her latest offering, High Road. When talking to Rolling Stone about making the new album she explained how she "reconnected to the unrestrained joy and wildness that's always been a part of me – and in this process, I have had the most fun I've ever had making a record." Besides co-writing every track on the set – with some assistance from the likes of Wrabel, Nate Ruess (Fun) and Dan Reynolds (Imagine Dragons) – Kesha also took the wheel as executive producer; driving this music machine through twists and turns in the most unexpected directions.
The wild journey kicks off with "Tonight," or what I like to call "Tik Tok, Part 2." What sounds at first like a piano bar sing-along, suddenly explodes into machine gunfire of handclaps and Kesha's iconic rap about partying the night away with good friends and good booze. The fun doesn't stop on "My Own Dance." Even while flipping her middle finger to those who told her to "get over it" Kesha confidently serves up her signature IDGAF wordplay with lines like "We get it that you've been through a lotta shit, but life's a bitch so come on shake your tits and fuck it!" The sharp-tongued diva keeps the party going with Big Freedia on the gospel-inspired "Raising Hell" and the high energy title track before slowing things down on the haunting piano ballad "Shadow," the slow-burning "Honey," and acoustic numbers "Cowboy Blues" and "Resentment."
Whether she's roaring on a pulsating baseline or purring a stripped-down melody, Kesha has always had a way of swinging at the haters while keeping her sense of humor intact; a fact that's evident on "Birthday Suit" and "Kinky." And, despite all the scars, tracks like "Little Bit of Love," "BFF" and "Father Daughter Dance" remind us that even the tough girls can be vulnerable every now and then. Kesha just doesn't give a f*** what people think of her or what other artists are putting out there. She'll always do her own dance!
