Hi Friends! Looking for books that have big Studio Ghibli vibes...

I'm talking: ~ cute friendships ~ magical beings ~ whimsical aesthetics ~ magical realism ~ incredible world building

I already know about the Howl's Moving Castle book, and How Do You Live, and that Arrietty is loosely based on The Borrowers. I'm just in desperate need of an escape, Studio Ghibli style. For reference, one of my faves is Kiki's Delivery Service, if anyone has specific recs for that!

Y'all I just found out about the singer Kiki Rockwell and she is amazing. The songs she has really touches on the experiences and emotions women feel and have felt through history. She has more of a folksy style of music and is really good at story telling. It really brings out that ancestral feminine rage a woman feels when hearing about the past and how we were treated and are still currently treated.

A song that I'm really vibing with right now is Burn Your Village. It's the part 2 of her song Same Old Energy. I highly recommend my mutuals to check her out. You will not be disappointed.

I do! Sadly I barely have time to read a lot of fanfics beside uni and work and writing so my tbr list of fanfics is a whole book by now but my fav writers are @glacial-snowflakes @dreaminrubies @creme-bruhlee but I'll make a whole rec list as soon as I've read some more fics of writers I haven't yet had the chance to read any stories of 🖤

as of August 1st, I am officially done with the summer 2022 semester & I’m on end-of-summer break!! I’ve got exactly three weeks until the fall semester (for those who are new here, I am currently in grad school, studying public administration with a concentration in nonprofit management). I am going into this school break very intentionally--taking the time specifically to be creative, read, and create better self-care habits.

SO. with that in mind, I’m starting a lil project for the next three weeks. I will read a new-to-me tm fic every day (and leave a comment!) + post it here as a rec for you all as well. I love our tiny fandom, and I want to show some love to everyone still here putting out lovely fics (and perhaps some older fics as well! there is so much I haven’t read!).
