Eyes of the SEES members ~

I’ve always admired artstyles where every character has super unique and recognizable vibes, so decided to try it with the gang. Super fun, highly recommend!

In the process of designing these I developed headcanons for each of their eyes, kind weird but if you want to read me ranting about why I drew Yukaris pupils a certain way or whatever, feel free to click read more lol.

Makoto: I wanted him to look tired, so a lot of his eyelashes go downward instead of upwards, also eye bags because he has insomnia and you can’t convince me otherwise. I didn’t want his eyes to look hollow/empty, but I didn’t want to put super obvious highlights and I think it works? Idk. Also drew his eyes in a way that reminds me of the ocean at night (Atlus gave me a ocean/water motif and I run with it ok?). His eyebrows are kinda “messy” in comparison to the others but I think it makes his eyes prettier so it is in character to me.

Yukari: I wanted her eyes to look a little more intense and turned them a little to give them a slightly “angry look”. Yukari should have a light case of rbf imo. I feel like Yukari puts a lot of effort into her appearance, and she probably wears more makeup but I cannot draw that to save my life lmao. Her eyebrows are probably the least messy other than Mitsurus, for the same reason as the previous one. Also hard to tell, but I put hearts in her pupils because it’s cute. Really proud of these ones, they read like hers so well to me.

Junpei: Junpeis eyes were so fun to draw! I feel like he’d have pretty short lashes and slightly smaller eyes, but still very vibrant! I really wanted his eyes to look full of life but still pretty simple, and I think I did pretty well! They feel very expressive to me. Also I feel like he’d have naturally very thin eyebrows, so gave him that lol.

Akihiko: idk how I feel about these, but I guess they’re alright? Gave him a kinda intense stare ig. I gave him really long natural eyelashes because I feel like he’d have them (canonical pretty boy that he is) and I’m somewhat proud of them because I stuggle with making longer eyelashes look masculine so guess this is a win. Gave him an eyebrow slit because I was so sure he had one in p4arena only to find out he didn’t even have eyebrows in it. What.

Fuuka: I feel like Fuukas neutral expression would still look slightly confused/concerns so her eyes are a little droopy. Gave her short but thick eyebrows because I thought it would be cute. Her eyes kinda remind me of rain and I like that! Also sidenote love the fact that official art draws fuuka with teal eyebrows. The implication that she was either born with teal hair or is so dedicated to the dye job she even dyed her eyebrows is hilarious to me. I know blue is treated as a normal hair color in persona-universe but Fuuka is literally the only one with teal hair how is it not dyed but yosuke and chies is??

Mitsuru: I wanted Mitsuru to be pretty. I gave her thinner but crisp eyebrows and eyeliner. I was a little worried because before I started shading her eyes looked kinda evil?? Lol but they turned out better in the end. Didn’t do a lot of details in her eyes because it felt like it worked better that way, but gave her bright highlights in her eyes to make up for it.

Aigis: These are my least favorite, and the first ones I did. Not sure if thats awful, because I wanted them to be very different from the rest. I feel like Aigis doesn’t actually have this wide eyes but willingly widens them so you can see the whole iris. I feel like her eyes would look more normal at a distance, and most of her classmates just assume she’s got weird eyes because they’re an uncommon eye color (major “give her brown contacts please” energy). Made her eyes look like does target-thingys and slightly plastic-y.

Ken: I didn’t want his eyes to be to bright, but still lively and childish. I gave him round wide eyes + smaller and thicker eyebrows to give a more childish feel. His eyelashes are pretty short but made them point more downwards since they looked too cheerful when turned upwards.

Shinjiro: dunno how readable these are as shinji, but theyre fine. Made his eyes very dark and put bright highlights cause I thought it looked better than the grey he actually has. Also gave him major eyebags because man has not had a good nights rest since like. Last October (sorry)

i genuinely think nina is a really good influence on so many of the creeps. like theyre all assholes, traumatized, refuse to believe in the good in the world, etc etc. but nina is traumatized and still kickin. she comes in like ^_^ hello chat. and i think that, while its still important to feel the shitty feelings, it's really grounding to see someone whos just so .. able to be happy. idk. someone who SEEKS joy, rather than expects it to fall into their lap, and blames the world when it doesnt

Laughter doesn't always come easy to him, and for long he was ashamed of her laughter. It's a snorty laugh in short quick puffs, I think it's really cute! She feels comfortable laughing around close friends tho, especially late at night after a long hang-out with candy and music :)

She want to be rebellious but in his heart, he thinks they're immovable.

His beloved objects, his partners, are Boy! the bunny plushie, Rey the computer, Sugar the flip-phone and Stellar the chain. They're depicted in both the ref-sheets :) So the main type of objects he's attracted to are plushies, technology, chains and sometimes buildings :) But you know, just as with other sexualities, she's not attracted to EVERY object tn these categories, just as lesbians aren't attracted to ALL girls.

She talks on the spot and use a lot of slang and some swear-words, she's quite outspoken and its emotions affect their tone a lot. Its voice is kinda deep and rough/ragged, with a growl hiding just under the surface of the voice.

Failing in things hen thought hen was good at, sharing vulnerable feelings, admitting flaws, being considered weak or mean

Kation is very confident in its sexuality and is comfortable with talking about it with anyone who wants to! It's just a casual topic to her.

A: What am I excited about these characters?

About Kation I love its design and powers and personality, I love to draw hen and Imagine hen in all kinds of scenarios, how hen interact with others, anything. Designing outfits for both Kation and Coral is super fun, about Coral i love his emotional life, her facial expressions, that she's objectum, his past, his inner conflicts and problems and worries.

B: what inspired me to create them?

Kation was created because I needed a main character in my comic. Hen is a fat, nonbinary demon cus those are all things i think we should see more in media. Well... mostly the first 2, there's a lot of demons lol. But i think those 3 things is a great combo! Coral, as first depicted here, I just drew him cus I wanted to redraw the album photo for Replicas Redux by Gary Numan (with Are 'Friends' Electric? in mind). But I didn't want to draw the guy himself so i just switched him out w a demon i designed on a whim. I liked her design a lot and decided to add her to the lore of the comic i made, and make him Kations best friend, soon with lore of his own!

Question J was only for fandom OCs it seems so ... yeah :)

Sure!! I really need to sit down and organize info about my oc's somewhere ;v; I used to have a toyhou.se but is that even a thing anymore? I have a personal discord where I dump info abt my oc's, but having somewhere more public and organized would be nice too, bc rn I just kinda sit on them and spit art out every so often. I also want to develop them more as I feel like I get really focused on their designs and certain aspects of their personality and backstory w/o fully fleshing out them as a character and the overall story ^^; I'll put the info under the cut:

Eliot is a kid with a lot of pent up anger and resentment towards the world and his family. Think peak teenage angst/angy boy. The song "Boys Will Be Bugs" by cavetown is like. a perfect song for him honestly, he's pretty wrapped up in that whole toxic masculinity that a lot of teenage boys go through. Throughout his story he ranges from like 15ish to adulthood, but I usually draw him as a kid.

He's very short, just under 5ft, and is insecure about it. He wears platform sneakers most of the time to compensate for it. He's very irritable and not good at controlling his temper, so he's not friendly with most people. He has a complicated relationship with his older sister who he holds a grudge against, although they were close when they were younger. Before leaving home, he was a pretty pure and good natured kid. Trauma will do that to u ig!!!!

At school he hangs out with the delinquent crowd and he spent a few years living somewhat rough and on the streets despite being from a well off family. He was always the odd one out in his family, as he was the child of an affair. He often stays out late and picks fights whenever someone pisses him off, which you can imagine is very easy to achieve. He's not very strong, being small, but he's pretty fast and uses his petite nature to his advantage, jumping around and using momentum (I've been watching Tokyo Revengers recently and Mikey's fighting style is actually pretty similar to what I imagine LOL). He often picks fights he cant win though bc of his temper, so he ends up with injuries a lot. Eliot hates sweet things and prefers bitter and sour candy. He drinks his coffee black and insists he likes it that way (but its a taste he forcefully acquired bc he thought it would make him "cooler". he doesnt even like coffee that much.) He's pretty tsundere, he gets embarrassed and blushes easily but deflects it with anger. He always has messy hair, which runs in the family. He has a very specific idea of what is "cool" and not, but it often deviates from the norm, meaning he has a shit sense of fashion. He likes graphic tees with stupid phrases/images on them. Because he now lives with his sister, she often picks out clothes for him so his casual clothes can often be feminine. Despite having issues with toxic masculinity, he actually has no qualms about wearing "girl" clothing, and he's also gay. he has a bf who is my friend's oc, but when they initially met they clashed a lot. oh and he likes ear piercings a lot ssdKSDF i think thats probably enough infodumping abt him for now, i hope you feel like you know him a bit better now! i'd like to tell his story more one day, im just not sure how yet :,)

but they really only become friends bc craigs mom is like go play outside!!! u cant just sit in ur room all day!!! and craigs pissy bc he Wants to sit in his room all day so he just kinda wonders around and maybe his mom would make him go play with kenny [assuming it's when theyre younger like. 8 or 9] or maybe they would meet on their own.....probably the first one lol.

How do you draw so fast

YEAAAARS of practice and studying. I’ve been doing this ever since I was like...3 or 4 so like, I’ve had a good 14-15 years of practice

ALSO! I used to run a webcomic whenever I was 13-14 years old lol. Ran it for a few years and eventually stopped both bc 1) I wasn’t having fun with it anymore and 2) Being an edgy 13-14 year old who thought i was the most Woke Smart Person Ever Because I Use Tumblr.com(tm) I was tackling topics in the story that I both as a person and as a writer was NOT AT ALL prepared to tackle, and this resulted in some uh. Not great implications in the story from time to time that I deeply deeply regret. Which is why I’ve now separated myself from it, I got older and was like “Hm wait this is kinda shitty” and figured it was best to just stop production altogether. Also the writing and art was just bad in general LMFAO

Running a webcomic for like, 2 or 3 years teaches you a lot of things and one of those things is how to get shit done FAST. Webcomics run on a schedule, typically you gotta release comic pages in a certain amount once a week (ie: 2 pages every Saturday.) You can’t just do what the professionals do and get it all done in bulk or whatever (well you can, but that’s not typical in the webcomic scene) so you gotta learn how to get it done fast.

So I simplified my art style which is why I draw in a more cartoony fashion than a realistic one, studied as MUCH AS I POSSIBLY COULD about composition (both for panel structure and just general structure of an image), started doing very quick and messy thumbnails for (almost) all of my art, found little shortcuts in my art programs, etc. so that I could get comic pages out quicker. 2-3 years of this just solidified all of this as a part of my general process!

THAT ALSO BEING SAID. The speed at which you get your art done does not determine the quality at all! There’s no difference if it takes 5 minutes or 5 days for you to finish a piece. Everyone works at their own pace, and that’s okay! Every artist is different bay beeee thats what makes art so fuckin cool

The “BL” Crew (does not stand for boys love I’m just a moron who made that abbreviation before knowing what it stands for). My main crew and main series, a lot is a big WIP right now as I’m slowly redoing the first book and all the lore. Why? I love torture. Book is fantasy type but I won’t specify what.

Lacie, the protagonist. God tier idiot, bisexual bipolar depressed MESS, insomniac, former theater kid, doesn’t know what she wants out of life but currently it is not This(plot of book). Hot headed, impulsive, crude, rude, Mommy IssuesTM, would rather be taking a nap right now, rules are made to be broken, absolutely fucking FERAL, more bags under her eyes than the airport lost and found. 5’5, 130lbs, Aries, age 18, white as shit like literally the whitest human you have ever seen, strawberry blonde hair in a 2011 Hayley Willaims haircut with long bangs, the darkest brown eyes you’ve ever seen that stare directly into your soul. Lanky, no curves, body of a 12 year old boy but works out so she can and will kick your ass and thats a threat. Not human?

Josh. Soft boy, smart, Lacie’s cousin and only friend for like the first 18 years of her life, autistic anxious mess who’s special interest is anchient egyptian history, is in honors classes, despises math, passes out when his girlfriend looks too cute, just needs a hug. Can eat a whole carton of easy mac if left alone, whole wardobe is the same outfit just different colors/hoodies, sensory issues, seriously can someone give this guy a hug. 5’9, 150lbs, Pisces, age 18, mixed (half whatever flavor of white Lacie’s family is [they don’t even know its just some scandanavian shit and irish], and half mexican on his mom’s side), medium olive skin with freckles and moles, dark chocolate brown hair that’s a bit of a 2009 Beiber cut, warm brown eyes, not beefy, a lil thicc and self concious about it but squishy boys are GOOD. Just because she is small and cute doesn’t mean you should underestimate her she WILL fuck your shit up. Quiet when angey which is terrifying. Josh is her bf and she loves him so much but also loves teashing the shit out of him. Okay so like, yeah, this years challenge was uh, interesting, Honestly i went into this kinda hoping that i'd like, break down art wise and figure out a new direction with my art from that but yeah that didn't really happen lol, like?? in piece 11 i started to but rather then break down & try to destroy my art i just kindaa?? got tired of making art in general lmao so pieces 14-19 was ust me being burned out. In terms of what pieces i personally really like uh, 5, 8, 11, 13, 15, 20, 22, 23, 25, and 28 are all highlights And in terms of pieces i don't like, 3, 4, 14, 17, 21, and 24, and like honestly? thats a lot less then i expected lmao also like??? im not even gonna mention my music because i like? honestly don't know how? don't get me wrong i like my music and i like making it but like?? its really just a after thought to my art? yet most of the time people compliment my work its for my music? and like? idk don't get me wrong yeah my music is probably better than my music but idk, i have a strange relationship with it as of rn. 1. What does their bedroom look like?Probably somewhat dark, lots of plants. Succulents because she cant keep anything else alive long enough. It’s probably always a little messy.2. Do they have any daily rituals?Nothing in particular except waiting for something to happen with the League. She likes to hang out in Kur/ogiri’s bar with him and Da/bi and chat. Da/bi prefers other places to hang out though, he only stays there if he has to.

3. Do they exercise, and if so, what do they do? How often?She does, by fighting with the other league members and training herself. She doesn’t want to be useless in a fight.

4. What would they do if they needed to make dinner but the kitchen was busy?Barge her way in. She’s hungry, dammit. That, and she knows no one would mind making room for her. They’re not that competitive about it.

5. Cleanliness habits (personal, workspace, etc.)Not that clean when she’s not doing a mission. She has to be REALLY cleanly when helping a mission though because she has to heal wounds and she cant risk infecting them.6. Eating habits and sample daily menuThe only one who can cook anything decently is Kurog/iri, so there’s a lot of eating out when he’s not available. Chiyu can cook a little bit but its not a great idea. Don’t even think about letting the other league members cook, thats just asking for a disaster.7. Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting timeAnything that involves hanging out with Da/bi. As long as he’s with her, she doesn’t mind. Da/bi isn’t one to like wasting too much time though, so they don’t do that too often if he can help it. Chiyu doesn't mind the idea of it, though.8. Favorite indulgence and feelings surrounding indulgingFavorite indulgence is sweets! She tries not to eat too many but sometimes she cant help herself. She’s lucky she has a fast metabolism. But also being looked at like a piece of meat or an object, feeling like someone owns her.
