Progress pic. I’m looking for yarn to do edging on this cowl and can’t settle. I originally pictured a charged contrast color like warm brown, rusty orange, chartreuse, or mint. But my vision isn’t translating to actual, real yarn in stores. So maybe I stick with cool tones like this one—seashell, seadeep, and sea urchin...? Opinions? Simulated basket weave scarf progress: Shout out to whatever marketing genius came up with yarn cakes. This color scheme is ridiculous, and yet they are so visually stunning next to all the rest of the yarn at the craft store, I ignored half of color theory and bought two for this project. (The yellow is about to turn dark green, oh boy...). Knitting-wise, It's the same hoop setup as the test piece, so the pattern should look similar, and it does. (That's good) Made one huge mistake early on, redid 2 sections. Just noticed a tiny mistake, decided not to pull apart hours of work and will be leaving it alone. New pattern in the works! 🐈‍⬛ 🎀🪞 As usual, I am the master of choosing yarn pairs that look like they could be the same skein. 🙄 I feel like every time I want to use two colorways specifically the contrast is always a smidge too similar. And thus, the frogging has begun, but another contrast color has been chosen! 🎀 I am really excited about this design and it’s one that I thought of over a year ago and am finally attempting. Originally thought of making it a fingering weight sweater but decided a cozy DK would be better. Will the color work pattern end up being too huge now? Idk but I think it’ll be great no matter what 🥰 Hopefully will make better progress to share after this weekend! Here is how the band and the start of the main body is looking in the #rafiaknit project ☺️ I'm knitting in the round, so please excuse the stitch markers in my photos 😉 I'm kind of partial to the purl fabric of this knit (picture 3). This will be a knitted vest with a lace panel at the centre front. My guage is slightly loose, but it seems to be working well because it's keeping softness in the fabric. This is pretty important with this type of viscose Rafia. Nobody wants to wear a something that feels like a box or piece of rigid board! The knit fabric feels quite smooth! The stitches are slightly nubbly due to the yarn being a bit uneven in thickness throughout. Some time ago I asked in my stories what you would like to see more here. 😊 Many of you answered that they hope for more insight in my designing process - even if that means showing things that might not ever be finished or things that do not end up becoming a pattern. I am not going to lie: not all of my ideas turn out to my liking. 🙃🧶 Today I will show you a project that falls exactly into that category. This is/was to become the new amd tweaked version of my Turning Skies Sweater. #turningSkiesSweater But right now I am very unsure if this is going to work or if I will end up frogging it. Here is what I am currently struggling with: I really love the v-shape running up the sweater and I would like to keep it, if possible. But I also really want this sweater the have a round neckline. Now how to combine those two things? 🤔 The moment I bind off the first stitches in the center front for the round neckline, I will not be able to continue the v-shape... Any suggestions are very appreciated! This probably does not happen too often but with this project I am just as excited to see what it might becomes as you!
