Okay, the Dunkin near me had ‘kolache’ on their menu. My stepdad is 2nd generation Czech so I was fucking ready.

But they are just gloridied pigs in a blanket. Not yeasty pastry with a fruit center! 😭

Did some research and apparently at least in Texas the blanket pigs are what they refer to using ‘kolache’. Got me curious

hey what kind of bug is this? it made a super loud buzzing sound when it flew towards me (THREE TIMES) and ended up chillin on the porch afterwards. it didn't really move after it sat down so i got some (hopefully?) clear pics of it. i don't think it's a roach or palmetto bug bc it doesnt have the same antennae, and it charged me instead of running away as palmettos usually do. im located in florida btw

It's a scarab beetle, likely one of the May or June beetles in the subfamily Melolonthinae but I couldn't say which species from these photos. They are harmless but love to buzz around loudly and smash into things. It didn't charge you, it just had no idea you should be avoided.

so technically my free period before lunch is a study hall/ I should use for my college classes but… my grandparents house and a donut shop are within walking distance of the school. And we have open campus lunch so I could go down to the diner and order my friend’s lunches and we can have a real non-fast-food meal for lunch since I’ll be able to order ahead of time.. or I could walk the track tbh the possibilities are endless but I’ll probably end up just sitting in McDonalds doing my comp work on the free wifi, studying for academic team, or walking to my grandparents to make lunch
